The Molineux men appeared set to finally lose their top-flight status on another disappointing day - though it now hangs by the slimmest of threads.
A 3-0 defeat at Leeds United left Rob Edwards’ men on the brink, but they were spared their mathematically being confirmed as Brighton & Hove Albion scored a dramatic late equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur.
A first-half collapse at Leeds saw Wolves concede twice in 86 seconds as the hosts capitalised through James Justin and Noah Okafor.
Wolves managed to get to half-time without inflicting further damage and despite a better second half, they were unable to get back into the game before Hugo Bueno’s foul gave Dominic Calvert-Lewin the chance to add a third from the penalty spot.
Tottenham were on course to win in the league for the first time in 2026 - with Xavi Simons creating one and then scoring a stunner - as they led Brighton 2-1 deep into stoppage time.
But Georginio Rutter scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to leave Spurs entrenched in the relegation zone and Wolves 15 points from safety with just 15 left to play for.
It is likely to only be the briefest of reprieves for Wolves, who will be relegated if West Ham get at least a point at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
