It is of course common knowledge at this point that the Camp Nou brass are on the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of the club’s backline with a view to next season.

Amid this search, Deco and co. have been tipped to launch moves for a whole host of stoppers, from cut-price to big-money options.

And as alluded to above, this week, another profile has been added to the shortlist of the Barcelona hierarchy. As per a report from Dutch football expert Mike Verweij:

‘FC Barcelona and Liverpool are knocking on the door for Netherlands international Micky van de Ven.’

The Catalans, it is claimed, are eager to take advantage of an impasse in contract talks between club and player in north London.

La Liga giants Barcelona have held negotiations over a summer deal for the signature of on-loan Tottenham Hotspur talent Luka Vušković.

This of course comes amid the Blaugrana’s ongoing search for reinforcements at the heart of defence.

Deco and co. are actively scouring the market for a new stopper to add to Hansi Flick’s squad, with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.

To date, Inter Milan standout Alessandro Bastoni has been the player most heavily linked with a Camp Nou switch.

In the knowledge that an agreement for the Italian will not prove easy to come by, though, the brass in Catalunya’s capital are also exploring a number of alternative options.

And as alluded to above, late this week, the identity of one such option has been revealed…

As per a report from market insider Florian Plettenberg, super agent Pini Zahavi is in active talks with Barcelona over a potential Luka Vušković transfer.

Vušković, for his part, is a 19-year-old Croatian international, widely considered to be one of the standout defensive talents in world football.

The starlet is wanted back at parent club Tottenham this summer after a standout season in Germany with Hamburg, but a Spurs relegation from the Premier League could yet open the door to a Camp Nou switch.

This comes amid confirmation of the Blaugrana keeping a close eye on the situation of Cristian Romero.

Deco and co. are of course widely expected to add to Hansi Flick’s options at the heart of defence with a view to next season.

Barca’s squad is considered short of quality at centre-back, with Inter Milan standout Alessandro Bastoni the undisputed first-choice target on the part of those behind the scenes at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Bastoni, however, will not come cheap, with Inter expected to demand a premium fee for their defensive stalwart.

In the case of this sum proving to be out of the reach of cash-strapped Barcelona, alternative options will therefore be sought out.

And as alluded to above, this week, the identity of one such target has been revealed…

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Cuti Romero is the name that the Blaugrana sporting management is considering as an alternative to the signing of Alessandro Bastoni. The Tottenham centre-back has all the characteristics that Hansi Flick and Deco are looking for in a position that Barça will strengthen this summer.’

The Spanish champions are keeping a close eye on the Premier League relegation battle, aware that, in the case of Tottenham going down, Romero will be available for a reduced fee.
