Description

Tottenham closes in on the signing of Eberechi Eze to replace starting No. 10 James Maddison, who went down with a torn ACL during pre-season. The move was confirmed yesterday by Fabrizio Romano and would be Spurs’ second major offensive addition for the 2025/26 season.Â

Eze has already expressed his desire to play for Tottenham earlier in the season. With a reported price tag of 55 million pounds plus another 5 million in bonuses, Crystal Palace seems willing to let the striker go, especially now that Arsenal looks to be out of the race for the Premier League star.Â

As Savinho talks seemed to have faded out, Eze would be the answer for Thomas Frank’s attack. The Danish manager still has to fill the Heung-min Son left hole on the squad, and so the move deserves a look at its top 5 winners and losers.Â

The winners and losers of Tottenham signing Eberechi Eze this summer

WINNER: Tottenham

Of course, signing a young star should always seem like a win. But with a reduced price tag and 14 goals in the last season, including the strike on the FA Cup final that led to the Eagles’ victory over Manchester City, the deal looks even better.Â

With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined for the foreseeable future, Eze would be expected to start as soon as possible, alongside fellow newcomer Mohammed Kudus.Â

LOSER: Thomas Frank

Even though Eze’s signing is an overall win, the move also means that Spurs are most likely to stop pursuing Savinho from Manchester City. The Brazilian striker is on top of Thomas Frank’s wish list, and would be another Premier League starter-level player to join Tottenham’s attack.

WINNER: Eberechi Eze

Before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League, Eze had expressed a desire to join Tottenham. Furthermore, Thomas Frank is seen as a very flexible manager who could develop the striker both as a center attacking midfielder and on the left wing, giving more options to the starting line-up.Â

LOSER: James Maddison

Not only did the Spurs No. 10 suffer a brutal injury when playing Newcastle United during pre-season, and it’s not expected to return before the end of the 2025/26 season, but now he has a new teammate to take his starting spot.

Of course, Thomas Frank could try to play both when Maddison comes back, and also having a star player to help pace his return is a luxury not many teams have. However, James Maddison’s starting role is very much in danger until further notice.Â

WINNER: Crystal Palace

The Eagles were probably expecting to let Exe go for the 68 million pounds fee that was active until the start of the season. Even though it has been reported that the 27-year-old will join Tottenham for 55 million pounds with 5 million pounds in bonuses, the sale is still a step up from the 17 million pounds they reportedly signed Eze for back in 2020. Crystal Palace fans will have a bittersweet goodbye to a team star, but they will never forget the five years of football Eze gave them.Â

LOSER: Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are excited for the impending acquisition of Crystal Palace star man Eberechi Eze, who would be far more than just a replacement for the injured James Maddison. Eze, fresh off an FA Cup win, can be an even better player for Tottenham than Maddison with additional dynamism, defensive effort, and even goal-scoring upside.

Spurs obviously need another attacking game-changer in the playmaker role, but even though they've landed one of the most underrated signings of the summer in former West Ham and Ajax standout Mohammed Kudus, there's still a need for one more wide forward to complete the puzzle, particularly after club legend Son Heung-min made his exit to MLS.

So in addition to Eze, Tottenham have been in hot pursuit of Manchester City star Savinho, clearly placing a premium on proven Premier League talents. But looking beyond England, there is one goal-scoring winger who was on Spurs radar before in the transfer window and is still fair game for anyone to sign.

According to a report from TBR Football's Graeme Bailey and Jamie Brown, Tottenham Hotspur have joined rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as two other Champions League contenders in Manchester CIty and Aston Villa with interest in acquiring Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.

Tottenham could really use a goal-scoring LW

After weeks of terse negotiations, the Nigerian international seemed like a good bet to join Serie A and Champions League title contenders Inter Milan, but a transfer collapsed with Inter stingy over the last few millions to make a deal work. Now, Lookman and his reps are back to talking to other clubs in an effort to ignite a transfer, as Lookman has already made it publicly clear that he has no intention of remaining in Bergamo for another season.

Lookman staying with Atalanta is within the realm of possibilities if he can't strike a deal now that the Nerazzurri are out of the race, but he has enough big teams in England interested that things could change, especially if Atalanta are forced to lower their demands a little bit after the Italian giants left the battle.

Tottenham, in particular, would do well to watch Lookman, who could be cheaper than any of the other new additions to the squad this summer, including the impending ones. Lookman has been one of the best players in Serie A over the last two seasons as a goal-scoring left winger or all-around center forward, scoring 15 goals with 5 assists for La Dea last season.

Although Spurs have been mostly looking at left-footed right wingers this summer, a right-footed left winger who can score goals should actually be their biggest priority after already acquiring Kudus for the right side, seeing as how club legend Son Heung-min has left a big hole on the left side of the formation.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur managed to sign one difference-maker to their attack earlier in the transfer window, as former rival forward Mohammed Kudus has already proven to be arguably THE key man in the post-Son Heung-min era with two Man of the Match caliber displays against the mighty PSG and the not-so-mighty Burnley.

Aside from Kudus, the only other move Tottenham made to their attack this summer was bringing in Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a permanent basis after the backup left winger helped them win the Europa League last season.

Tottenham obviously need more than that, as their blown lead against PSG highlighted, and in addition to going hard after a new No. 10 in light of James Maddison's torn ACL, Spurs have also been pushing for one more high impact winger to join forces with Kudus.

The focus has been on Savinho of Manchester CIty, but Tottenham have suddenly found it difficult to bring the Brazilian international in. Eberechi Eze's signing has been easier, since Crystal Palace are close to signing his replacement, Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester CIty.

Tottenham need their transfer partner to find a replacement

However, Manchester CIty's dream replacement appears to be off the table. Even though Rodrygo Goes started the first Real Madrid game of the 2025/26 La Liga season off the bench against Osasuna - and never even came on as a substitute - the slipping forward has still maintained his loyalty to the Royal Whites of Spain.

According to a repot from Sky Sports Switzerland's Sacha Tavolieri, Rodrygo has never formally asked Real Madrid for a transfer, and because he's not leaving the Spanish capital, Pep Guardiola doesn't have a shot at bringing him in to replace Savinho. Therefore, Savinho is expected to stay with Manchester City.

There are differing reports on why Savinho to Tottenham has been so slow to happen, but the most logical explanation right now is that Manchester City don't have a replacement. Just as the Eze to Tottenham move can be facilitated easily now that Palace are on track to sign El Khannouss, the opposite is true for Savinho, hence why those talks have slowed.

Tottenham were actually linked with Rodrygo earlier in the window, but given his expected cost of at least 100 million euros as a proven two-time winner of the Champions League - and crucial in both Real Madrid triumphs - Spurs were never expected to be major players for him.

But now, Rodrygo is complicating a different Brazilian winger transfer Tottenham want in order to make a big splash this window. That said, Rodrygo isn't the only fish in the sea, and Manchester City could find another target they want, even if it isn't Guardiola's dream get. Savinho isn't impossible, from that standpoint, but Rodrygo still wanting to give it a go in Madrid is probably the biggest reason why there's new pessimism around a Savinho deal for Spurs.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made two significant new signings this summer between former West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus and former Fulham and Bayern Munich defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha, acquired on loan.

Already, the two men have made a significant difference to Tottenham, with Kudus standing out as one of the team's best players in both the hard-fought defeat to PSG in the UEFA Supercup Final and the blowout 3-0 Premier League opening victory against newcomers Burnley.

But one of Tottenham's other big stars of the first two games of the season, alongside Kudus, has been a player who could have been the subject of a very different kind of transfer this summer - a transfer out of the club entirely.

Richarlison was purchased for 60 million pounds in 2022 from Everton, and through his first two seasons in North London, the Brazilian international was nowhere near providing any sort of return of investment due to a combination of injuries and disappointing play. Briefly, Richarlison showed flashes of goal-scoring brilliance near the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but, by and large, it was seen as too little, too late.

A man who wants to fight for Tottenham

Spurs were shopping Richarlison, and in a report from Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte's Bruno Andrade, it is stated that althouguh Spurs and the player were open to a move this summer, a deal never advanced despite extensive interest in the striker from around the globe. The reason is that Richarlison sat down and had a talk with people around him and decided to stay with Spurs for another year.

The summer before, Richarlison could have left, too, with gaudier offers on the table from Saudi Arabia, but he chose to stay and continue to fight for his place despite the addition of 65 million pound striker Dominic Solanke. Everything about Richarlison, from his days at Everton, speaks to him being a fighter in character, and he has been exactly that for Tottenham in 2025.

Richarlison also likely didn't move because Tottenham didn't see any better offers on the table or want to spend more on an alternative striker who may not be as good. As we have seen through these first two games of 2025/26, Richarlison, when healthy and in the mood, is one of the top strikers in the Premier League, just as he was with the Toffees.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are doing their best to make some blockbuster transfer happen before the clock strikes midnight on Aug. 31, and while they are confident that they can secure the signing of local star Eberechi Eze from FA Cup winners Crystal Palace, the road to Savinho from Premier League title contenders Manchester City hasn't been as easy.

Currently, there is more pessimism surrounding a Savinho transfer than before, as Manchester City have been rejecting increasingly higher bids. And if Rodrygo Goes continues to show loyalty to Real Madrid despite riding the pine under Xabi Alonso at manager, Manchester City will lose their chief replacement for Savinho and thus their reasons for openness to selling the former La Liga star to the North London giants.

Savinho's track is not cold, but Tottenham fans are less hopeful than they were a week ago when links to the Brazilian winger first emerged. The 21-year-old enjoyed a strong first season at the Etihad, and his eight assists and explosvie one-on-one dribbling would be a welcome site to a team that really only boasts Mohammed Kudus as a dynamic wide threat these days.

Tottenham are not calling it quits

But for anyone writing off the possibility of Savinho joining Tottenham because of the lack of positive movement with Manchester City in transfer negotiations, maybe this report will change their mind. On his YouTube channel, top transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported to the masses that despite Manchester City blocking off a Savinho move to this point, Spurs are not giving up on him and are still going to push to sign the Premier League star.

Perhaps that could change, but Tottenham have nothing to lose by pushing for Savinho up until the transfer window's end, especially since he's shown a willingness to join them. Savinho and his agent have been working for a solution, and while some members of the Manchester City board room don't want to sell and Pep Guardiola himself isn't keen on selling a player they just bought last summer without a replacement, a lot is subject to change on the transfer market.

Tottenham would surely like to be the ones to benefit from the changing of opinions and events on the mercato, and while lining up other young wingers as alternatives would be wise, there's nothing to lose in having people in the building staying glued to the Savinho track. There's no reason to write this deal off yet, even if Eze seems like a far easier top signing to make.

Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are close to a 'Here We Go'

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are coming off a brilliant Matchday 1 performance in the Premier League, blanketing newcomers Burnley 3-0 in a thoroughly commanding display that both highlighted the potential of a healthy Richarlison under Thomas Frank's management and the potential impact of new signing Mohammed Kudus.

But Tottenham need to have more ambition than merely cooking the Burnleys of the world. Their first hour against PSG in the UEFA Supercup was a clear glimpse of the potential Spurs have as a unit under Frank. The reigning Europa League winners maybe aren't so far off from Champions League contention.

Even so, Tottenham ultimately blew that game and lost in penalties, and a lot of that came down to a lack of difference-makers in the attacking end and a thin bench. Tottenham still need more quality players in the transfer window, and after James Maddison's ACL tear, their need for a playmaker has been magnified.

Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace is the hottest name surrounding Tottenham on the transfer market, and Spurs have been increasingly interested in signing the local London midfielder to upgrade their own unit before September rolls around.

Tottenham need this move more than any other

There's a lot of optimism surrounding a potential deal, and top transfer insider Fabrizio Romano just fed into that positive feeling around North London with his latest YouTube video report. Romano states that he expects a "here we go" soon for an Eberechi Eze to Tottenham transfer.

At this point, it would be a huge surprise if Eze isn't introduced as the next major signing for Tottenham Hotspur this window, and while Spurs should still go after more attacking help, specifically on the wings, signing a new playmaker like Eze is perhaps the most important addition the club can make before August ends.

That's because they don't have a top playmaker right now with Maddison injured, and even when Maddison was healthy, Spurs were still after another No. 10 in Morgan Gibbs-White after their earlier interest in Eze waned.

Eze is a proven commodity in the Premier League, and if Fabrizio Romano thinks that Eze is coming to North London to start for Thomas Frank and expects that deal to get his fabled thumbs up in the "here we go", then that's more than good enough for Tottenham fans to get their hopes up for the FA Cup winner's arrival. Eze alone won't solve every attacking problem at Tottenham, but it should go a long way.

Tottenham one step away from their biggest marquee signing

'Verbal agreement' - Tottenham one step away from their biggest marquee signing - Hotspur HQ
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made just one major addition to their attack this summer transfer window, but that is subject to change in the final weeks of the market. Spurs have been galvanized to push more for an attacking addition after starting No. 10 James Maddison went down with a torn ACL.

Although Savinho has been closely linked to Tottenham as one of their top targets, the more likely of the two dream signings for Tottenham fans to welcome this summer is London hero Eberechi Eze, fresh off an FA Cup-winning campaign even without Michael Olise by his side.

Eze was linked to Tottenham earlier in the window, but he became a bigger target for Spurs recently after the Maddison injury. He is now seen as a "must" in the 10 role, given there are no better players available, certainly not ones with an established Premier League pedigree.

As optimism for a move has mounded since the weekend, Tottenham fans now have perhaps their biggest reason to be hopeful of a deal. Reliable Spurs journalist Paul O'Keefe has reported that Tottenham have reached a "verbal agreement" with Crystal Palace over an Eze transfer.

Tottenham agree to terms with player and club

It's unclear what the terms are, though. Tottenham have reportedly been offering 55 million pounds plus five million in bonuses, and while Palace have been asking for a little more than that, they've also been willing to take less than the expired 68 million pound release clause fee to sell Eze, particularly with Arsenal now out of the transfer race.

Eze has already agreed to personal terms with Tottenham for days now, so all that's been missing is the go-ahead from Crystal Palace. And now that Palace have reportedly given it, there's only a matter of time before Palace and Tottenham finalize this deal on an official basis.

The final step of the transfer being completed will be - and has likely been, for the past few days - Crystal Palace signing a replacement. That replacement is almost certainly going to be Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester City. Crystal Palace have been pushing hard to sign him and are close to bagging the playmaking talent from the Foxes.

Although Mohammed Kudus has the highest upside, Eberechi Eze will be, pending what happens with Savinho, the most expensive Tottenham transfer of the summer 2025 window thus far. He has the most established Premier League pedigree and is an even better attacking midfielder than Maddison because of his dribbling skills, athleticism, defensive work rate, and underrated goal-getting. He is a true star in this league, which Spurs definitely need more of in the attack.

Tottenham have found a suitor for two sales they have to make

Description

As Tottenham Hotspur await word from Manchester City and Crystal Palace on the status of attempted transfers for attacking stars Savinho and Eberechi Eze, they can't ignore that there are other items of business that must be addressed before the summer 2025 transfer window offiically closes in less than two weeks.

Tottenham haven't made any substantial sales in the summer transfer window despite actively shopping a few players, and while it's not the end of the world if veteran contributor Yves Bissouma ultimately stays to maintain depth, there are a couple of other players Spurs need to get rid of expeditiously to clear out space. Because unlike Bissouma, they don't have any sort of a role to play.

The first and most obvious is Bryan Gil. In perpetual loan with La Liga clubs, Gil finally rebounded somewhat at Girona, but his career remains at a crossroads and his development sidetracked. As we saw years ago with Eibar, the Beatles-inspired attacking midfielder/winger can be a nifty little player in the Spanish top flight, but he's never going to cut it in the Premier League and is someone Spurs need to finally move on from permanently.

Another player to get rid of is Manor Solomon, who is stronger and better at scoring than Gil but is also a step below the Premier League. He had a good season on loan in the Championship with Leeds, and while it looked like a permanent stay with the Premier League returnees was likely, that transfer situation has been glacially slow to develop, if not non-existent entirely.

Tottenham need to make a move happen

Tottenham have found it tough to move on from these relatively young (but not actually young nor truly high-upside) attacking players this summer as they revamp their attack with actual game-changers suiting a Champions League level, such as Eze and Savinho.

They may have just found a solution to dump Solomon and Gil off in one, though, as Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Bologna, whose goal has now become reaching European football in the Italian top flight, are interested in signing both forwards from Tottenham.

Spurs would do well to pick up the phone and begin negotiating with the Rossoblu immediately. If they can finagle something more than a straight-up loan deal, they have to take it, because it will mean less wages, potential transfer money in their pockets, and space in the squad for signings with more capabilit to help Spurs this season.

Fabrizio Romano makes bold Eberechi Eze to Tottenham transfer prediction

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been pushing harder to sign Crystal Palace star attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze more than anyone else over the past couple of days, including Manchester City star winger Savinho, who is the other top transfer target on Thomas Frank's wishlist.

Eze was wanted by Tottenham earlier in the transfer window, and while their interest cooled and even included a pivot to Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, Spurs are back in on the London hero 100 percent after the torn ACL to starter James Maddison.

There is a lot of optimism in the air that Tottenham will be able to land Eze from Palace. Eze has expressed a desire to move to Tottenham, and Palace seem to be open to selling Eze for the right price. Spurs, on that note, will be happy that his release clause quietly expired on Friday, meaning they can sign the Premier League star for less than the previous price tag of 68 million pounds.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano while speaking on the DAZN Football channel on YouTube, the latest transfer bid from Tottenham to Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze is 55 million pounds plus an additional 5 million pounds in bonuses. The Eagles have expressed to Spurs that they would still like a higher fee, but the talks are "advancing", per Fab.

Fabrizio Romano names his percentage

Furthermore, Romano gave an exact percentage prediction of the chances of Eze moving to Tottenham, and he's set his number at 85 percent. While that may seem low to Spurs fans who are reading the tea leave and see that Eze wants Tottenham, Spurs want him, Arsenal have dropped out of the race to make sure phenom Ethan Nwaneri gets sufficient minutes, the release clause has expired, and Palace are closing in on a replacement in Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss (also an alternative for Tottenham).

However, 85 percent is a high, if not bold, number for a general world transfer insider with a reputation for being right 99.99 percent of the time. That means Romano is highly confident that Eze is going to Tottenham barring something unexpected, and the only reason why it isn't higher than 85 percent is probably because negotiations on the final fee are ongoing.

At this point, Tottenham supporters have many reasons to be optimistic that Eze will be headed to their club, and, now, the big question will be exactly how much more than 60 million pounds, if at all, will Spurs be paying for their new attacking midfielder.

Tottenham just confirmed their most important news of the summer - Hotspur HQ
Description

Cristian Romero has the potential to dictate just how far Thomas Frank can take his project in north London, and confirmation of his contract extension is the most significant news of Tottenham's summer.

There was supposed to be a revolt in N17 in the wake of Ange Postecoglou's controversial departure following Europa League glory in Bilbao. Romero, so close to the former boss and his vice-captain, was among those ready to kick up a fuss and force a move away.

The 27-year-old has previously spoken about his desire to one day play in Spain, and interest from Atletico Madrid was surely no coincidence. Teaming up with compatriot Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital once seemed inevitable.

However, as Atleti's interest eventually faded, it became clear that Romero was ready to commit to Spurs, or, as the man himself puts it, "the best club in the world". He was the obvious successor to Son Heung-min as captain, and his interview after Frank's decision pointed towards an incredibly proud figure who has become one with the Lilywhites.

Monday's news was merely a matter of time.

Tottenham confirm significant Cristian Romero contract extension

Spurs confirmed that Romero, whose previous deal was expiring in two summers' time, has extended his contract that'll now keep him at the club until 2029. Four more years of Cuti, eh?

The Argentine was once slandered for his penchant for madness, and has frustrated supporters with fitness woes in more recent times, but his place in Lilywhite folklore was secure with what he produced during the latter stages of last season's continental campaign.

Romero was the Player of the Match in the Europa League final, and later named the competition's Player of the Season.

We can only hope he stays injury-free for much of 2025/26, with his importance to Frank's side now even greater, given that he dons the armband. Still, I have noted throughout the summer that sorting out Romero's contract was perhaps the most important bit of business Spurs would conduct this summer, and Monday's news is nothing short of mammoth.

Had the situation dragged, we undoubtedly would've been fearing a potential La Liga move next summer, but Romero's new deal means we can relax on that front. We have total control.

Now, we can properly look forward to the Frank era with one of the world's best centre-backs marshalling our backline. The extra pieces in attack are very much necessary before the window slams shut, but tying down Romero for the long haul is a statement of Tottenham's intent with their new manager.
