How did the British clubs fare in the quarter-finals?
United kept their season alive with a 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Thursday, to progress to the Europa League quarter-finals 5-2 on aggregate.
Sociedad gave Old Trafford a late scare through Mikel Oyarzabal's early penalty, only for Bruno Fernandes to respond with a hat-trick and Diogo Dalot to add a fourth in stoppage time.
Tottenham, meanwhile, overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit to register a 3-2 aggregate win.
A James Maddison strike and Wilson Odobert’s first two goals in a Spurs shirt ensured victory for Ange Postecoglou's side, with the Australian manager looking to maintain his promise of a trophy in his second season.

Elsewhere, Jack Butland saved twice in the shoot-out as Rangers beat Fenerbahce 3-2 on penalties.
Sebastian Szymanski’s brace wiped out Rangers' 3-1 first-leg lead, with both sides subsequently squandering opportunities to put the tie to bed.
But Butland saved from Dusan Tadic and Fred, before Mert Hakan Yandas blazed well over to see Rangers make the quarter-finals.
Who could Man Utd, Spurs and Rangers face in Europa League semi-finals?
United take on Lyon in the quarter-finals, with the French side having registered a 7-1 aggregate win over FCSB in the previous round, while Tottenham face a tricky test against Frankfurt.
Rangers take on Athletic Club, who beat Roma 4-3 on aggregate in the last 16 and boast Spain’s Euro 2024 hero Nico Williams in their ranks.
The final semi-final sees Bodo/Glimt go up against Serie A side Lazio.
Should United make the semi-final, they would face the winner of Rangers’s game with Athletic Club.
In turn, Tottenham will play one of Bodo/Glimt or Lazio should they beat Frankfurt.

How does the bracket format work?
From the knockout phase play-off stage onward, the Europa League takes a bracket format, meaning that sides who finished between ninth and 16th in the league phase standings are seeded and those that finished between 17th and 24th are unseeded.
Teams are paired by their final position in the table’s ‘play-off’ section. In turn, ninth and 10th are paired, 11th and 12th are paired and so on.
This means we have four pairs of seeded teams and four pairs of unseeded teams.
Why is this significant? Well, teams who are paired together split off into separate sides of the draw, meaning they can’t meet until the final.
During the draw, unseeded teams were first drawn into a bracket position, and then the seeded teams were drawn. Again, those paired together fell on opposite sides of the draw.
