Ornstein reveals Tottenham plan for ‘top attacking target’ Kolo Muani as rivals also circle

Respected transfer insider David Ornstein has explained Tottenham’s plan for signing PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window, as the north London club face a potential scrap with Manchester United and Juventus for his services.

It’s expected to be a busy month for Daniel Levy and co. as they look to bolster a Spurs squad that has been decimated by injuries for a large part of the season so far, with their defence an area that has been particularly hit hard.

A new goalkeeper has already arrived in the shape of Antonin Kinsky, with the 21-year-old in line for his debut in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday night after Postecoglou confirmed that he has been registered in time for the contest.

However, it’s attack where Tottenham are now looking a making a splash next, with PSG and France star Kolo Muani firmly on their radar, following reports on Monday that Levy and sporting director Johan Lange had actually flown to Paris to try and strike a deal for the player.

It was initially reported that Spurs are looking at a permanent deal for the 26-year-old, but Ornstein has provided an update on what the north London club are looking to do with a player who has largely fallen out of favour at PSG.

He said on NBC Sports: “He’s a target for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Juventus, who would all like to sign him on loan until the end of the season.

“I think PSG would be open to letting him go on a temporary basis despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2028 because he’s just not getting the game time and they want to rebuild the value having signed him just over a year ago for a deal worth €90 million.

“I’m told that Tottenham see him as their top target for a versatile attacker. Manchester United are looking at multiple options and Juventus are in the equation too. Those three clubs are being presented to me as being the leading contenders in this moment in time.”

Kolo Muani’s struggles not putting Tottenham off

Kolo Muani has not had the best of times at PSG this season, although he remains a quality performer on his day.

The Frenchman’s ability to play out wide or, as has been the case this term, through the middle would make him a strong option for Postecoglou in his three-man attack.

Having an alternative for Dominic Solanke would also take the strain off the summer signing, who has been starting virtually every game of late due to Tottenham’s lack of depth in the No.9 role.

Any loan of Muani could well come with an obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal as PSG boss Luis Enrique appears to be keen to offload the former Eintracht Frankfurt man permanently.

Spurs are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, fresh from suffering a 6-3 hammering from Arne Slot’s men in the Premier League recently.

Latest Tottenham news: Son scuppers suitors / First-choice keeper target revealed

Tottenham have thwarted Barcelona as well as former boss Jose Mourinho after announcing an important new deal for skipper Son Heung-min.

The South Korean, 32, may not be enjoying the finest of seasons in many people’s eyes. However, he has notched 11 goal contributions in the Premier League alone.

Son is in his 10th season with Tottenham and his contract was due to expire in the summer. As such, overseas teams were free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the winger.

But Tottenham – who reserved the right to extend Son’s stay by triggering a one-year extension – have put the suitors in their place.

Meanwhile, Tottenham started the January transfer window in swift fashion after sealing a deal for Czech Republic Under-21 goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky but he may not have been their first-choice option – a report has revealed.

changing January window with SEVEN concrete targets revealed

Tottenham have endured a difficult start to the season and despite the pressure on Ange Postecoglou, they are planning a huge January window to try and turn things around.

We reported last month that Postecoglou is not in any immediate danger of being sacked despite Spurs’ poor form and intend to back him with multiple new additions.

Tottenham’s position hasn’t changed and they are ramping up plans to build their squad. TEAMtalk understands that they have brought forward their plans to sign their top targets to this month.

The recent signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is an example of Tottenham’s new approach, as they were initially planning to pursue him at the end of the season.

One of Spurs’ main priorities for this month’s transfer window is to bolster their defensive ranks after injuries to Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and others have left them short of numbers.

TEAMtalk sources state that Tottenham are admirers of Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, but luring him away from Goodison Park this month will be difficult.

Everton will demand a minimum of £80million to even consider selling Branthwaite mid-season. The 22-year-old is one of, if not their most important player and they don’t want to lose him as they face another relegation battle. Branthwaite is the biggest name on Tottenham’s defender shortlist but they’re also eyeing other more realistic, cheaper options too.

Tottenham prioritising defensive reinforcements

TEAMtalk can confirm that Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Ko Itakura has been sounded out by Tottenham. Sources state he is open to joining Spurs, would cost around £15million and is one to watch this month – although PSV Eindhoven are also interested in him.

Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov is also of serious interest to Tottenham and is under consideration by Daniel Levy and his recruitment team. Postecoglou is also understood to be a big admirer of Khusanov.

The Uzbek international has been in fine form for Lens this season and has captured the attention of several top sides. Sources say Spurs could move for him this month to get ahead of the competition.

Khusanov, 20, is also being tracked by Manchester City and Real Madrid. He is yet to make a decision on his future but is open to leaving Lens for the right move. Tottenham view him as the perfect player to bring in and build with for the future.

Spurs to rival Man Utd for PSG star

Contrary to some reports, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham will not prioritise the signing of a new centre-midfielder as they feel they have enough cover in that position.

They are big admirers of Jobe Bellingham, but Sunderland are determined to keep him until the end of the season. He will cost a minimum of £20million and Arsenal have also been linked with him.

However, Spurs are open to bringing in a new wide player and a striker.

Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn has admirers at Tottenham. Celtic are determined to keep him this month though as he is one of their most important players, so Brendan Rodgers’ side will demand £30million for a mid-season sale.

Tottenham have also held talks with Paris Saint-Germain about striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is available this month. As previously reported, a loan is possible with a potential buy option and Spurs are very keen on doing a deal.

Kolo Muani also has interest from Manchester United, Juventus and others. Juve want to seal a deal as soon as possible and are pushing to get it over the line.

Tottenham also monitoring Evan Ferguson who could leave Brighton this month and sources say he is one to watch if a move for Kolo Muani does not come to fruition.

Tottenham news: Barcelona foiled after signing of 'global star' confirmed

Tottenham have thwarted Barcelona as well as former boss Jose Mourinho after announcing an important new deal.

It’s been another rollercoaster of a season so far for Tottenham, with the club losing 10 of 20 matches in the Premier League. The cup competitions have been kinder to Spurs, though the imposing figure of Liverpool await in the semi-final stages of the League Cup.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been ravaged by injury this term, but one player who’s largely kept the injuries at bay is captain, Son Heung-min.

Reports in Spain claimed Barcelona were preparing to pursue Son in the hopes of striking a deal. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have also been linked with approaching the player.

But Tottenham – who reserved the right to extend Son’s stay by triggering a one-year extension – have put the suitors in their place.

Tottenham announced via their official website that Son’s contract has been extended via the option. As such, the skipper is now under contract until the summer of 2026.

Clearly thrilled at extending Son’s glittering star in north London, the club’s statement began: ‘We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026.

‘Having joined the Club in August, 2015, Sonny, 32, has become a global star during his time with us and a modern-day great for Tottenham Hotspur.’

Transfer reinforcements on the way

As ever, Son will be vital in Tottenham’s attempts to qualify for the Champions League and end their trophy drought as the season unfolds.

However, the veteran forward could soon be aided in his quest, with Spurs putting the pieces in place for a blockbuster winter window.

Our insider, Fraser Fletcher, reported Spurs were seeking additions in four different positions this month.

Goalkeeper, centre-back, winger and striker are the four areas they aim to address, with Antonin Kinsky already putting a tick in the first box.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein echoed Fletcher’s exclusive from last week when speaking to NBC Sports, and the trusted reporter shed new light on what types of deals Tottenham are pursuing.

“Tottenham didn’t sign a back-up goalkeeper last summer,” said Ornstein. “They’ve got Fraser Forster out of contract next summer, so this was something they would’ve needed to do and they’ve brought it forward.

“This is part of a squad revolution and evolution that’s going to see a lot of changes, and it already has and it’s ongoing.

“[Tottenham] want to do more business in January. They would like to strengthen their defence and also their attack, less so their midfield because they’ve not been suffering from injuries in that department.

“I think some loans are on the agenda – nothing imminent, but conversations are in progress.

“And possible some permanent deals if it could be like Kinsky in that they bring it forward [from the summer].”

Crucially, Ornstein concluded by declaring Tottenham are in rude financial health and have cash to splash.

“They have no PSR (profit and sustainability) issues,” added the reporter. “That means the finances are there for them to do something.”

Latest Tottenham news – Randal Kolo Muani, Abdukodir Khusanov

PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani is one player Tottenham have locked on to to provide competition for Dominic Solanke up top.

Spurs, Manchester United and Juventus are understood to be the three teams showing the firmest interest. PSG have greenlit an exit this month, with a loan that contains an option/obligation to buy the likeliest outcome.

Elsewhere, 20-year-old Lens defender, Abdukodir Khusanov, has been identified as a prime candidate to bolster the centre-back ranks.

The issue for Spurs in that regard comes in the form of Manchester City who are also desperate to strengthen in January.

What’s more, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported on January 5 that City had opened club-to-club talks with Lens as well as discussions on the player side.

Son Heung-min’s iconic Tottenham career

Son was signed from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015 and has since made 431 appearances in all competitions.

He is currently ranked 11th on Tottenham’s all-time appearances list and needs to make just eight more appearances for the club to usurp Jimmy Dimmock in the top 10.

The South Korea international has scored 169 goals in those 431 appearances, making him the fifth top goalscorer in the club’s history.

He is now behind just Martin Chivers (174), Bobby Smith (208), Jimmy Greaves (266) and Harry Kane (280).

He has 16 Champions League goals, eight Europa League goals and one Conference League goal, putting him second behind Kane in Tottenham’s all-time European goalscoring list.

Alongside his goals, the forward has also registered 90 assists with Spurs and that includes a club-record 68 in the Premier League.

The ultra-reliable David Ornstein revealed what Tottenham are cooking up for the January transfer window after dropping a conclusive update on whether Ange Postecoglou will be sacked.

Tottenham have endured a nightmare campaign in the Premier League so far, losing 10 matches out of 20 and languishing in 12th position. The cup competitions have provided respite, however, with Spurs advancing to the semi-finals of the League Cup and on course to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Scrutiny of Postecoglou has ramped up in recent weeks amid a run of five defeats in Spurs’ last seven league matches. The only victory achieved in that span came against bottom-placed Southampton.

However, TEAMtalk were informed on December 31 that the Tottenham board remain convinced Postecoglou is the right man for the project they’re embarking on.

What’s more, we were told Spurs fully intend to back their manager in the winter window and a new goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky – has already arrived.

Backing up our reporting on Postecoglou’s future, The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed the Aussie is “100 percent” safe when speaking to NBC Sports.

Ornstein said: “Ange Postecoglou is 100 percent safe in his job, I’m told. There is no uncertainty over his future despite the pressure he appears to be feeling in some of his public comments.

“[Spurs] are backing him to lead this project forwards and they hope he delivers. They’ve got a chance of a League Cup trophy and a Europa League trophy, they’re focusing on that.

“And they’re also fighting to get into the top four, although they’re realistic about their chances on that.”

Ornstein confirms Tottenham transfer plans

Our insider, Fraser Gillan, reported Spurs were seeking additions in four different positions this month.

Goalkeeper, centre-back, winger and striker are the four areas they aim to address, with Kinsky already putting a tick in the first box.

Ornstein echoed Gillan’s exclusive from last week when speaking to NBC Sports, and the trusted reporter shed new light on what types of deals Tottenham are pursuing.

“Tottenham didn’t sign a back-up goalkeeper last summer,” said Ornstein. “They’ve got Fraser Forster out of contract next summer, so this was something they would’ve needed to do and they’ve brought it forward.

“I think some loans are on the agenda – nothing imminent, but conversations are in progress.

“And possible some permanent deals if it could be like Kinsky in that they bring it forward [from the summer].”

Latest Tottenham news – Randal Kolo Muani, Son Heung-min

Regarding Tottenham’s chase for a striker to compete with Dominic Solanke, reports claim Spurs chiefs have jetted over to France to wrap up a deal for Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman, 26, has the greenlight to leave PSG this month and is expected to move initially via the loan route. An option/obligation to buy must be included before PSG sign off on Kolo Muani’s departure.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Spurs talisman Son Heung-min as a superstar free agent pick-up for the summer.

Son has entered the final six months of his contract and as such, Barcelona are now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the player.

However, Tottenham have a plan in place to prevent their captain from leaving.

Barcelona looking to steal Tottenham talisman despite Postecoglou plan already being in place

LaLiga giants Barcelona are reportedly pursuing a free transfer move for Tottenham captain Son Heung-min this summer, despite suggestions the South Korean will remain in north London for one more season.

Son‘s future at Spurs remains uncertain with his existing deal set to expire in May, despite talks having taken place between the player and club.

However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that Tottenham‘s one-year extension option for the 32-year-old remains at their discretion but that they plan to trigger it.

Despite that, Spanish outlet El Nacional reports that Barcelona are looking at free-agent signings this summer due to their ongoing financial situation and that Son is amongst a shortlist of potential recruits.

With that one-year option not being taken up as yet, Son can sign a pre-contract deal with clubs outside of England and it appears that Barca are monitoring his current situation.

Indeed, the report adds that the South Korean could be tempted by a move to the Camp Nou, given that Barcelona still boast a reputation as one of the world’s biggest clubs and can also offer regular minutes in the Champions League – something Spurs currently can’t and are unlikely to do next season, unless they win the Europa League.

Son joined Tottenham as a relatively unknown figure from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has since gone on to become a club legend with 169 goals and 90 assists in 431 appearances.

However, despite being made captain by Ange Postecoglou, he has not always been a regular starter for the Australian, who likes to rotate his forward options. There is also the feeling that he is not quite the force he once was, with his dynamic attacking presence not producing the same results they once did.

Barcelona also eyeing Bayern Munich duo

Should Son actually end up in Catalonia, he could end up finding himself arriving alongside a host of other free transfer recruits as Barcelona also consider approaches for two Bayern Munich stars.

Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane both find themselves in the same contract situation as Son and have been strongly linked with a switch to Barca in what would represent bargain deals.

Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah is also known to be a target for Hansi Flick, who previously managed Bayern Munich and guided the club to a treble in the past.

The 28-year-old will be another free agent in the summer, with Barcelona expected to tie up a pre-contract deal for him in January.

One player Barcelona are fighting to keep, however, is playmaker Dani Olmo, having only been able to register him for the first half of the season due to financial constraints.

That issue is currently ongoing with LaLiga as they look to re-register the Spain international.

Levy, Lange jet to France to seal explosive second Tottenham signing in deal worth around £55m – report

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of an explosive attacking talent as they look to seal Ange Postecoglou’s second signing of the January transfer window, just six days into it.

The north London outfit completed a deal for Czech Republic goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky on Sunday, with the 21-year-old expected to compete for a back-up role at Spurs before eventually challenging Guglielmo Vicario for the No.1 spot.

TT have been told that more signings are expected to follow for an injury-hit Tottenham squad that is currently languishing down in 12th in the Premier League table and closer to the relegation places than the top four.

Areas that are currently being looked at include a new left-back, a centre-back, another central midfielder and a new attacker and, according to the latest report, that last box could soon be ticked.

TheBoyHotspur claim that sources have informed them that Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange have flown out to France to negotiate a deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The 26-year-old France international has not been able to live up to the expectations since joining PSG, with the Ligue 1 giants ready to let him move on as a result.

The report adds that the frontman could earn around £165,000 a week at Tottenham and he is likely to cost around £55 million.

He is expected to join Spurs this month, although the fee will not be paid until 2026 and TT understands that it could be an initial loan with an option to buy – which would certainly make sense of the ‘not having to pay until 2026’ reports.

Help is coming for beleaguered Tottenham

With so many players still on the sidelines, Postecoglou has indicated that fresh arrivals would be needed in January and it seems that Levy and co. are responding to that cry for help.

Previously, Tottenham have tended to twiddle their thumbs before doing any business but the signing of goalkeeper Kinsky came out of the blue and suggests they are now taking a different approach.

The addition of Muani, who we have been told has been spoken about by Postecoglou and Lange, would give Spurs another central striking option to ease the load on Dominic Solanke.

Muani can play as a central striker or out wide but has been utilised solely through the middle for PSG so far this season, although the results have not been particularly encouraging.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker has only scored twice in 14 games in all competitions for PSG this season and has only started two league games for the French giants.

Muani, who has also scored eight times in 27 caps for France, could just be in need of a change of scenery to revive his career and, at 26 years of age, is entering what should be his prime.

It just now remains to be seen whether Tottenham are ready to try and seal a permanent deal or a loan to buy for a player who has also been heavily linked with the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal.

Latest Tottenham news: West Ham join Ferguson chasee / Man City rival Spurs for centre-back

West Ham United are considering a move for Brighton striker Evan Ferguson as the Seagulls consider loaning out the Irish international this month.

The 20-year-old was once considered one of the most exciting youngsters in the Premier League but has struggled for minutes at the Amex this season, hampering his development.

Ferguson is understood to be open to leaving Brighton on a temporary or permanent basis and despite his poor form, a number of sides are showing serious interest in him – including long-term suitors Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have opened two sets of talks over the signing of a highly-rated centre-back, and while Tottenham are also interested, it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who lead the race.

Tottenham acted quickly to seal key January deal after swoop for Bayern Munich stopper fell flat

Tottenham started the January transfer window in swift fashion after sealing a deal for Czech Republic Under-21 goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky but he may not have been their first-choice option.

The north London outfit signed the 21-year-old in a deal worth in excess of £10m from Slavia Prague, with Kinsky penning a contract until 2031 after jetting into London on Saturday.

The addition of another stopper is no great surprise given that first-choice Guglielmo Vicario will be out until the end of February at the earliest, while Fraser Forster has made some big errors since stepping up – mostly with his feet – and is also out of contract in the summer anyway.

Brandon Austin made his first start for the club in the 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle due to Forster being ill and acquitted himself well, but bringing in Kinsky gives Ange Postecoglou a quality young option to pick from and a player who is expected to challenge Vicario for the No.1 role going forward.

However, things could have been very different, with several other names on Tottenham‘s list of goalkeeper targets – including Bayern’s Daniel Peretz.

Peretz is nominally Bayern’s rotational keeper but with Manual Neuer picking up an injury just over a week after Vicario fractured his ankle against Manchester City, the 24-year-old has been thrust into regular action with the Bundesliga giants.

Neuer broke a rib in a collision with Jeremie Frimpong in Bayern’s Bundesliga title clash with Bayer Leverkusen, a challenge that also saw him red-carded.

Peretz has started every game since and this development stalled any Tottenham movement for the keeper in the short-term. Indeed, there may have been an opportunity to wait until later in the window and still move for Peretz once Neuer returned. However, with a glut of fixtures coming for the rest of the month, Spurs needed another keeper on board very quickly so Kinsky became the quick fix.

Former coach rates new Tottenham signing highly

Meanwhile, MFK Vyskov goalkeeper coach Rostislav Horacek, who worked with Kinsky at the Czech club during the player’s loan spell, gave an insight into the talented stopper’s strengths, weaknesses and so much more in an interview with Flashscore back in October.

“We probably don’t need to talk about goalkeeping skills, but Tonda [Kinsky] has a great head,” explained the 57-year-old. “He has great self-confidence, but not that he’s cocky, he believes in himself to the fullest.

“It’s hard for me to find any comparison. I would say Martina Sablikova [former Czech speed skater] for example. It’s an internal mindset, where you don’t doubt yourself and have a healthy belief in your abilities. How many times can Tonda do something in a match that would make his job much easier, but he prefers to choose a riskier solution because he wants to solve the situation in a footballing way at all costs. Moreover, it is also reflected in other things.”

Comparisons with fellow countryman Petr Cech have also been made, with the former Chelsea and Arsenal considered one of the Premier League greats. And Horacek revealed that Kinsky regularly faced a similar scenario with Slavia that Cech had on a regular basis in England’s top flight.

“He has an excellent defence in front of him in Slavia, that has to be left alone, but at the same time it is difficult for him in that he often goes 40 minutes without making a save and then has to quickly resolve a difficult situation,” he revealed. “This is exactly what Petr Cech used to do at Chelsea. He had a strong defence in front of him, led by John Terry, but then he had to show off with one or two saves.

“Tonda is strong in this. He can read the opponent and resolve it. I also admit that I am waiting for a match when he will be under more pressure to see how he reacts.”

Kinsky also was also praised for his work with his feet, soemthing Forster has struggled with throughout his lengthy career.

“What I like about him is that his style of play prevents him from coming under pressure,” said Horacek. “He plays in a way that makes sense and prevents the opponent from immediately going on a break. This makes his job easier for him, but above all it helps the whole team.

“Moreover, he doesn’t care which foot he kicks the ball with. I asked him in training which he prefers, but he said he doesn’t care. In short, he kicks with both the same way.”

He added: “He has a problem with one thing. Sometimes he doesn’t get into a match, when he has a 30-minute dead end, where he doesn’t get the ball at all. It bothers him because he loves to play, to pass. He needs it. And when the ball gets to him, he sometimes has a tendency to want to be seen and to invent unnecessarily complicated things.

“I can imagine that against Ajax, for example, the coaches had to restrain him from going crazy with some risky pass, because it could smell like trouble.”

Tottenham confirm pivotal January keeper signing as impact on Guglielmo Vicario revealed

Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced the arrival of Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in a deal thought to be worth around £10million, with what impact that will have on current No.1 Guglielmo Vicario also revealed.

The former Slavia Prague shot-stopper was only linked with a move to north London over the weekend after reports claimed that the 21-year-old had flown to London for a medical on Saturday.

Kinsky has put pen to paper, with the deal being officially confirmed on the official Tottenham website on Sunday morning.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Antonin Kinsky from SK Slavia Prague, subject to international clearance and work permit,” a club statement read. “The 21-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a deal that will run until 2031 and will wear the number 31 shirt.”

No transfer fee was officially disclosed, but Fabrizio Romano claimed that the figure was “in excess of £10m”.

Spurs are short on defensive options, with a number of centre-backs on the sidelines while first-choice keeper Vicario will likely be on the sidelines until March time with the fractured foot he suffered in the November win at Manchester City.

Vicario’s replacement Fraser Forster also missed Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle through illness, with Brandon Austin stepping in and performing well against the Magpies.

It’s reported that Kinsky could be thrust between the posts for his debut as soon as the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday – if all the legal documentation surrounding the deal has been processed by then.

However, it’s more likely that Austin, who looked more comfortable in possession than Forster has since stepping in for Vicario, gets the nod for Wednesday night’s first-leg clash.

Kinsky ready to push Vicario

While Kinsky is highly-rated, he’s not expected to replace Vicario going forward but will provide strong competition for the Italy international.

Slavia Prague’s first-choice goalkeeper this season, the youngster played for the Czech team in the Europa League and also their Champions League qualifying matches. Kinsky has kept an impressive 12 clean sheets from his 19 league matches for Slavia this campaign.

Speaking about the move, Kinsky said: “Really happy to be here, it’s been amazing to sign the contract. Tottenham is a big name in Europe and the world, and especially in the Czech Republic and it’s a big honour.

“I spoke with the coaches and the sporting director and I really got the feeling that this is going to be the right choice. It’s a new experience but I’m really happy to make this next step.

“The aim for every player is to be on the pitch and I’m going to try and push in training to try and get the minutes.”

Tottenham are also believed to have looked at Wolves stopper Sam Johnstone and Bayern goalkeeper Daniel Peretz among others before deciding on Kinsky as their keeper of choice.

Latest Tottenham news: Spurs in Kolo Muani mix / Getafe defender in Postecoglou radar

Tottenham are reportedly among a host of teams in the mix to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window.

The forward swapped Eintracht Frankfurt for PSG in September 2023 in a deal worth up to €90m (€74.7m, $92.6m) but the move has not gone to plan so far.

Kolo Muani flattered to deceive in the 2023/24 campaign after scoring just nine goals and bagging six assists and his fortunes have not improved this season.

The 26-year-old has scored two goals and notched one assist in 14 appearances, and just two of those have come as a starter. Reports suggest the France international wants a January exit and Tottenham are among his suitors.

Meanwhile, the agent of Tottenham target Omar Alderete has hinted his player will leave Getafe in the coming months – but competition for his signature could be fierce – with Spurs in the mix.

‘Time is ticking’ on Ange Postecoglou sack at Tottenham as Newcastle compound ‘tough’ spell

Ange Postecoglou must quickly turn results around or risk being sacked after Newcastle United handed Tottenham Hotspur their latest defeat, according to one TNT Sports pundit.

Tottenham thrashed Southampton 5-0 in the Premier League and beat Manchester United 4-3 to reach the League Cup semi-finals in mid-December, but they have struggled for results since then. They were trounced 6-3 by Liverpool, beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest and then drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers prior to hosting Newcastle on Saturday.

Newcastle served Tottenham their third defeat in four games, despite Dominic Solanke giving Postecoglou’s men the lead four minutes in.

A fantastic cross from Pedro Porro was met by Solanke, who held off Sven Botman to head into the bottom corner.

Spurs’ lead did not last long however, as a Lucas Bergvall pass hit Joelinton’s arm before Anthony Gordon raced into the box and sent a left-footed drive past debutant Spurs keeper Brandon Austin.

VAR checked the issue but Spurs were left frustrated as they allowed the goal, deciding that Joelinton’s arm was in a natural position.

Newcastle went ahead shortly before half time when Jacob Murphy got a yard of space away from Djed Spence in the box before putting a dangerous ball across goal, which Alexander Isak finished off with help from Radu Dragusin.

Brennan Johnson hit the post for Spurs after the break, while substitute James Maddison sent a curling effort just wide. Johnson and Son Heung-min both sent wicked crosses into the six-yard box as Spurs pushed hard for a late equaliser, though Newcastle held on to pick up all three points.

On TNT Sports’ post-match coverage, former Arsenal and England star Karen Carney was asked if Spurs are entering crisis mode under Postecoglou. She admitted the manager is slowly edging closer to the sack unless results improve.

Postecoglou will be ‘judged by results’

“As a neutral I’ve come here and I’ve been entertained, I like the style of football that they’re playing,” Carney said. “But you’re judged by the results and unfortunately for Ange Postecoglou the time is ticking.

“He’s got unfortunate injuries. Dragusin goes off, another centre-half that’s gone off. Spence went in, I thought he did very well.

“But ultimately it’s a tough one because he [Postecoglou] is going to be judged. I think the next game, the cup games, he’s come out and said, ‘Look, I usually win cups in my second season’.

“This is a bad run, I think the next couple of weeks will be really testing for the manager. I like him, I like the style he plays, I think he should be given time but it’s obviously tough at the moment.”

Spurs face Prem leaders Liverpool in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on Wednesday. They will travel to Tamworth in the FA Cup third round after that, before the North London derby against Arsenal on January 15.

Tottenham transfers: First January signing nears; defender boost

Meanwhile, Spurs are close to making Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky their first new arrival of the winter window.

Spurs chiefs are ‘finalising’ a €15million (£12.5m / $15.5m) deal to bring Kinsky to the Premier League from Slavia Prague.

Fabrizio Romano has added that the shot-stopper is poised to fly to England today (Saturday) to undergo a medical and complete the switch.

Kinsky could be followed to North London by Getafe star Omar Alderete.

Spurs have registered their interest in the 28-year-old as they desperately search for centre-back reinforcements.

Alderete’s agent has now confirmed that a move is destined to happen at some stage this year.

“There are four clubs in England that want him,” the representative said. “It’s time to take the leap. If not now [January], he will leave Getafe in the summer.”

Tottenham Hotspur are poised to make Czech Republic star Antonin Kinsky their first new signing of the January transfer window, it has been revealed.

According to reports, Tottenham are ‘on the verge’ of capturing goalkeeper Kinsky as they are ‘finalising’ a deal with his current side, Slavia Prague. The transfer is expected to be worth €15million (£12.5m / $15.5m), while Slavia Prague are set to be given a sell-on clause.

The news was first broken by Czech publication inFOTBAL and Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works for Gianluca Di Marzio.

Fabrizio Romano has since provided his information on the move. He states that a verbal agreement is ‘done’ between all parties, including Kinsky himself.

The 21-year-old will travel to London today (Saturday) to undergo a medical and complete the transfer.

Romano adds that Spurs ‘will spend over £10m’ on Kinsky and that they have agreed a long-term deal with the shot-stopper.

The star is the son of a former Czech Republic keeper also called Antonin Kinsky. Kinsky Jr was born in Prague and joined the Slavia youth setup in July 2021.

Over the summer, Kinsky considered leaving Slavia but made a U-turn on that decision after their usual No 1, Jindrich Stanek, got injured.

Kinsky has gone on to keep 14 clean sheets in 29 games for Slavia this season, with six of those appearances coming in the Europa League.

The starlet has great potential and has been called the best Czech keeper of his generation. This, coupled with the fact he is now picking up senior experience, has resulted in Spurs moving in.

Spurs to replace Fraser Forster

Kinsky will bolster Ange Postecoglou’s keeper options, with first-choice stopper Guglielmo Vicario out until early March with a broken ankle.

Postecoglou has largely used Fraser Forster since then, though the Englishman has struggled at playing out from the back and has been guilty of some bad mistakes.

Kinsky is better with his feet than Forster and Spurs fans will therefore be hoping that this can provide the team with more stability, should the new arrival be given regular starts.

TEAMtalk revealed on New Year’s Eve that Spurs are primed to attack the January window to help Postecoglou turn things around.

Goalkeeper is Spurs’ priority, and they look to have solved that issue by landing Kinsky. Next up on Spurs’ wish list is a new centre-back, winger and striker.

Possible targets include Bournemouth defender Illia Zabarnyi, Celtic wide man Nicolas Kuhn and Brighton centre-forward Evan Ferguson.

Tottenham transfers: Son exit; striker signing boost

Meanwhile, Son Heung-min is picking up interest from Turkey, with Jose Mourinho keen to reunite with him at Fenerbahce.

Reports claim that Mourinho is aiming to improve his team with the captures of Son, Chelsea outcast Joao Felix and Roma’s Nicola Zalewski.

To prevent Son from leaving, Spurs must now ramp up talks to extend his contract from June this year to summer 2026.

Ferguson is not the only striker Spurs are keeping tabs on, as they have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.

The Italian press claim that Spurs are challenging AC Milan and Juventus for Kolo Muani, who has been told he is free to leave.

Spurs appear to have superior spending power to the Serie A giants, which may give them a transfer advantage.
