Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown has revealed the club have “initial interest” in Callum Hudson-Odoi amid their desire to sign a winger, but the Nottingham Forest man has been challenged to star throughout the season if he is to move.

Just over a year ago, Hudson-Odoi left big-six club Chelsea to sign for Forest. At the time, the Midlands-based outfit were seen as no threat to the upper echelons of the Premier League, having only returned to the top flight in 2022/23.

But now, they find themselves third in the table, and Hudson-Odoi could be given the chance to return to a big-six club, with former Spurs scout Brown suggesting the north Londoners are interested in signing him.

“His performances have caught the eye of a few clubs,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Tottenham were interested in him during the summer and I’m told that interest hasn’t faded as they would still like to sign a new winger.

“Of course, when a side like Forest, with all due respect, are performing above their usual level, the high-flying players start to attract interest.”

Hudson-Odoi challenged to star this season

Brown feels Hudson-Odoi will have to show form throughout the entire season if Spurs are to pull the trigger on him, though.

“I wouldn’t expect a deal to happen in January, he’ll need to show this type of form over the course of a season, but there’s definite interest,” he added.

“I’m told a number of clubs have been keeping an eye on him and tracking his development. Tottenham feel they’re a couple of positions short of bridging the gap.

“Whether Hudson-Odoi is the right fit for them, that’s something they’ll be asking behind the scenes, but I know the initial interest is there.”

TEAMtalk revealed ahead of the summer window that Spurs had been impressed with Hudson-Odoi’s form last season, so if he keeps it up this term, there seems a genuine chance he is signed.

Tottenham round-up: Midfield moves likely

A move for Johnny Cardoso, who Spurs have priority option for, is seen by his club Real Betis as essentially a done deal, and it’s believed one of Pape Matar Sarr or Yves Bissouma could be pushed out by his arrival.

Interest in AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has also been confirmed, but it’s said a January move is unlikely.

There seems to be good news in terms of injuries, with neither Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven expected to be out for a long time after their recent injuries.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will be given major competition from within the Premier League for Hugo Larsson, with the Eintracht Frankfurt man being tracked by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as some German clubs.

Hudson-Odoi form at Forest

Hudson-Odoi bagged eight goals this season, and has found the net twice this term.

He will have to return a similar number to last term if he is to keep big clubs like Tottenham interested in signing him in the summer.

Arsenal transfers: Gunners draw up January bid to sign 'classy' Bundesliga ace before Tottenham, Liverpool

Arsenal have prepared an offer as they look to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson before Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, according to a report.

CaughtOffside claim Arsenal are showing ‘strong interest’ in the thriving central midfielder and are ‘considering testing the waters’ with a January bid. That proposal will be worth €40million (£33.3m / $43m).

Arsenal are trying to position themselves at the front of the queue as they know a host of other sides are also tracking the exciting 20-year-old.

CaughtOffside state that Tottenham and Liverpool are ‘very interested’ too, while other major clubs such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have been ‘monitoring’ Larsson.

The Sweden ace, who is described as a ‘classy and creative midfield talent’ by the report, will ‘have his pick’ of which big club he wants to join next as he is emerging as one of the best young players in Germany.

However, Arsenal may need to hold several rounds of talks before they can forge an agreement with Frankfurt over this particular deal.

While Mikel Arteta’s side are hopeful they will only have to pay around £33m for Larsson, Frankfurt are aiming to receive €70-80m (up to £66.7m / $86m) before selling him.

Arteta eyes further midfield reinforcements

Arsenal bolstered their midfield ranks in the summer with the capture of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

However, Arteta’s midfield has struggled for creativity while usual playmaker – and captain – Martin Odegaard has been out injured.

Signing Larsson would give Arteta an extra option to use, should Odegaard pick up any future injuries.

As Larsson is versatile, with the ability to operate as a No 8 or No 6, he could also help Arsenal move on from other midfielders such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho.

Arsenal’s ‘concrete interest’ in the Bundesliga starlet was first revealed in September, and they are now poised to accelerate their pursuit of him.

Arsenal news: Thrilling striker verdict; winger setback

Meanwhile, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has received big praise amid links with Arsenal and Manchester United.

The 26-year-old was at it again on Tuesday night, registering a hat-trick as Sporting stunned Man City with a 4-1 victory.

To the delight of Arsenal and Man Utd, Gyokeres has been told he can be ‘better’ than City goal machine Erling Haaland.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is another player Arsenal are thought to be keeping tabs on.

Liverpool have also registered their interest in the forward after identifying him as a potential replacement for Mo Salah.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool have been warned Mbeumo will cost upwards of £60m (€72m / $77.4m) to sign in January.

IN FOCUS: Hugo Larsson profile

The fact that Larsson is already enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career – by November – tells you everything you need to know about the way he is developing.

Signed by Eintracht Frankfurt from Malmo in 2023, by which point he had already made his international debut for Sweden, Larsson was a teenager at the time of his move, having caught the eye with his performances in midfield.

Right-footed, Larsson is an energetic, box-to-box midfielder. Standing out for his spatial awareness, he is constantly looking to get on the ball and drive his team forward, even though he has also been used to playing from a deeper role. Strong and technical, he doesn’t have too many weaknesses – but time is on his side to add further elements to his game, which he already seems to be doing.

During his debut Bundesliga season, he played 29 times, scored twice and made one assist. This season, he has already scored twice within just nine league games – and a recent winner in the Europa League means he has bettered his all-competitions tally already.

He possesses a good first touch, even in tight areas, and his dynamic approach has helped him surpass 50 appearances for Frankfurt already, with more than 70% of those outings being starts.

Larsson is already the Swedish Allsvenskan’s record export and, although he might not break any records when leaving the Bundesliga, he is destined to command a high transfer fee once again as his profile increases.

Tottenham news: Argentine journalist delivers big update on Romero injury; positive Van de Ven report

Argentine journalist Gaston Edul has provided an update on the injury Cristian Romero suffered againt Aston Villa on Sunday, while Tottenham have also received some positive news on Micky van de Ven.

Romero was forced off with a foot injury sustained when making a reckless tackle he was booked for in the weekend’s impressive 4-1 win over Unai Emery’s men.

And with Van de Ven already sidelined with another hamstring problem, there have been real concerns in north London that Ange Postecoglou could be missing his first-choice centre-back pairing for a number of weeks – as was the case at a similar stage last season.

However, it looks like Tottenham have received some positive news on both players ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League trip to Galatasaray.

Edul has taken to social media to reveal that the 26-year-old Romero has injured the ligaments in his right toe but that there is no fracture.

That prognosis is much better than had been feared and Romero is expected to be back in action in a week to 10 days. Indeed, he could even be included in Argentina’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.

That does, however, mean he will miss the games against Galatasaray and Ipswich in the Premier League on Sunday as Spurs look to build on that impressive result against top-four rivals Villa.

Van de Ven poised to return soon

Van de Ven, meanwhile, was left close to tears as he hobbled off against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup last week after suffering another hamstring blow.

The Netherlands international was sidelined for a significant spell with a similar injury last season but he has escaped any serious issues this time around.

Indeed, Postecoglou recently revealed that the former Wolfsburg man should be back after the upcoming international break.

He told reporters: “He has strained a hamstring. It is not too serious, but probably after the international break for him.”

That leaves Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies to fill in over the next two games, with Archie Gray another option after impressing in that position during pre-season.

Latest Tottenham news: Spurs chasing Milan midfielder / Cardoso arrival to spark exit

Tottenham interest in midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has been confirmed in a report, which states the club are working on a January deal for a midfielder, as it’s known whether or not they’ll land the AC Milan man.

Spurs have started the season perhaps slightly below they thought they’d be. They sit seventh in the Premier League after 10 games – they were top at this point last season – after they finished fifth last term.

Their push for the upper echelons of the league could be helped by new signings, one of which progress is already being made on.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are already working on a deal to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window.

It comes amid interest in AC Milan midfielder Reijnders, cited in the report.

Tottenham transfers: South American striker reveals how Edu blocked Spurs switch after making broken promise

Arsenal’s departing sporting director Edu once blocked a lethal South American striker from joining arch-rivals Tottenham by promising him higher wages that ultimately did not materialise, a report has revealed.

Edu confirmed his exit from the Gunners on Monday after five years back at the club working behind the scenes, with the Brazilian now expected to take on a new role under current Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

However, while working at Brazilian giants Corinthians, Edu dealt Peruvian icon Paolo Guerrero a blow when the attacker was looking for a return to Europe after previously playing in the Bundesliga for 12 years.

It was January 2013, before Harry Kane’s emergence, when Tottenham made an offer for the player only for Edu to step in and block it.

The Brazilian did not want Peru’s all-time highest goalscorer to join his former rivals and offered Guerrero an improved contract, one which would make him the “highest paid footballer in South America”.

But Guerrero claims Edu did not fulfil his promise over a new deal with vastly improved wages. Indeed, the forward eventually left Corinthians in 2015, but for rivals Flamengo instead of getting his big move to the Premier League.

Guerrero told the D&T programme: “When I arrived at Corinthians, I said to myself: ‘I win the Club World Cup and I’ll go back’ [to Europe]. Did I have opportunities to return to Europe? Many, but Corinthians didn’t want to sell me or didn’t want to negotiate. The last offer came from Tottenham, which was a loan-purchase option.

“I went with the proposal to talk to Edu, who is now Arsenal’s director, and I said ‘I have this, please’. His response was: ‘Do you want the crooked thing to kill me, Paolo? Rest assured that here you will be the highest paid footballer in South America’.

“He didn’t comply. I didn’t renew with Corinthians because the proposal they made me wasn’t within what I think I deserved. I believed that because I was Peruvian, they were not valuing me.”

Guerrero miss led to Soldado deal

Former Bayern striker Guerrero has not yet returned to Europe since leaving Hamburg in 2012, but remains a South American football legend, chalking up an impressive 122 caps for Peru.

As for Tottenham, they ended up signing Roberto Soldado, who struggled to adapt to the English game and his failure ultimately led to Kane’s breakthrough.

Indeed, Soldado scored just 16 goals in 76 games for the club after Spurs paid £26million for his services from Valencia.

Edu, meanwhile, returned to the red half of north London as the club’s first-ever technical director, overseeing the signings of the likes of Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz in a key role under Mikel Arteta.

He is now expected to take up a new role working under Forest owner Marinakis.

Latest Tottenham news: Milan midfielder on January radar / links to Real sensation emerge

Tottenham interest in midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has been confirmed in a report, which states the club are working on a January deal for a midfielder, as it’s known whether or not they’ll land the AC Milan man.

According to Football Insider, Spurs are already working on a deal to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window. It comes amid interest in AC Milan midfielder Reijnders.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly willing to let summer signing Endrick leave the Bernabeu on loan – with Tottenham seen as one of two clubs in a strong position to sign the prodigious Brazilian teenager in the January window.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the game’s hottest prospects, having already won 13 senior caps for Brazil and having moved to Real Madrid in the summer just gone in a deal that will ultimately top €60m (£50.4m, $65.4m) if all bonuses are met. However, with competition strong in the Los Blancos ranks, Endrick has found himself limited to appearances mainly off the bench so far.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are already working on a deal to sign a midfielder in the January transfer window.

But despite Spurs being keen on landing the Dutchman, a January deal is said to be ‘highly unlikely’.

If Ange Postecoglou wants to pursue him, the report states it will have to wait until the summer, given Reijnders is a crucial part of Paulo Fonseca’s side.

Tottenham midfield signings in view

Spurs’ desire to improve their midfield at some point soon is evident in their priority clause for Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso, who the Spanish outfit feel will become a Tottenham player in the summer.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King has agreed that the club “need some bite” in the midfield.

As such, he suggested that Cardoso could be a good signing for them.

With Reijnders in good form at Milan, he could also be a good addition to the spine of the Tottenham side.

Tottenham round-up: Shock Real Madrid move in view

Tottenham could reportedly be the beneficiaries of a decision to allow future superstar Endrick to leave Real Madrid. It’s reported the La Liga champions could let him go out on loan in January, with the north London outfit a potential destination.

Spurs could also land Karl Hein from their rivals Arsenal, as they’re believed to be interested in bringing him in on a free once his contract has ended in the summer.

They could soon see Archie Gray head back to Leeds, though, with the Elland Road outfit told to make an attempt for him on loan in January.

There is also interest in Radu Dragusin, with Napoli keen to take him back to the Serie A in January.

Reijnders a form midfielder

Reijnders has been in good form for AC Milan since joining them in 2023.

Three of his seven goals have come this season, when he has played 12 times. That includes three Champions League games, and in the last of them, the midfielder bagged a brace in a 3-1 victory over Club Brugge.

Tottenham consider shock sale of two stars with ‘certain’ 2025 signing to force Postecoglou regular out

Description

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes the signing of Johnny Cardoso will see one of Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr moved on “without any doubt”.

Cardoso is a de facto Spurs player already, after their savvy summer dealings. The north London outfit let Giovani Lo Celso return to Real Betis, but in that deal ensured they could get the priority option of their midfielder star Cardoso ahead of any other side.

That means that any bid that is made for the £21million midfielder, they have the right to match.

Former Tottenham scout King feels Cardoso could be a good addition to the side, but it will mean for the exit of one of two current midfielders.

“Spurs need some bite in midfield,” King told Tottenham News.

“Looking at the team at the moment, I’m still trying to work out who the holding midfielder is. Everybody seems to want to get forward.

“If this player is going to bring a bit of quality and authority in midfield and he’s doing well in Spain, then Spurs might have done a good bit of business.

“Should he be brought in, I think either Bissouma or Sarr will be moved on, without any doubt.”

Cardoso move seen as certain

And the chances that Cardoso will be a Spurs player soon are reportedly ‘certain’, in the eye of Betis.

Indeed, the Spanish outfit reportedly see the move as already done in the summer of 2025.

And if that does mean for the end of one of Sarr or Bissouma, it’ll see one fairly consistent player depart, with the former having played 698 minutes this season, and his team-mate having featured for 601 minutes so far.

Tottenham round-up: Spurs plotting Arsenal transfer

The most shocking current Tottenham rumour is that they are planning to take Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein onboard. The move, described as one ‘no one saw coming’ could see him join on a free transfer, with his contract up in the summer.

TEAMtalk understands that Spurs are also at the front of the queue for St Patrick’s striker Mason Melia.

The in-form teenager is on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs, but Tottenham are though to be at the head of the queue.

But they could lose some of their most promising assets, too. Leeds have been urged to snap Archie Gray back up on loan in January, after selling him to Spurs in the summer.

Meanwhile, Napoli are continuing their push for centre-back Radu Dragusin, who was only signed by Tottenham a year ago.

Who is Cardoso

Cardoso was born in New Jersey and has represented the USA at under-23 and senior level, but to all intents and purposes he is a Brazilian footballer.

Born to Brazilian parents, the Cardosos moved back to their South American homeland when baby Joao Lucas – nicknamed “Johnny” – was just a few months old.

Cardoso came through the youth academy at Internacional to make his senior debut for the club a few days before his 18th birthday.

He soon became a regular starter at the Beira-Rio, racking up 144 appearances and scoring seven goals for the side from Porto Alegre…

Tottenham transfers: Spurs exploring sensational deal for elite Real Madrid prospect as Ancelotti sanctions surprise loan exit

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly willing to let summer signing Endrick leave the Bernabeu on loan – with Tottenham seen as one of two clubs in a strong position to sign the prodigious Brazilian teenager in the January window.

Indeed, the former Palmeiras man has just one start to his name so far, with his other eight appearances all coming off the substitutes bench and with Ancelotti so far taking his time to bed in the teenager.

And while Endrick has shown promise of the player he can one day become by scoring two goals and adding one assist in those outings, which so far total just 107 minutes, it seems Ancelotti is ready to let the player move out on loan, if reports in the Spanish media are proved accurate.

As a result, Fichajes claims Tottenham have already thrown their hat into the ring over a potential January deal, with Ange Postecoglou’s side seen as one of two would-be suitors to sign the player on loan in the winter window.

Battling them for his signature are Juventus, with Real keen to ensure that whichever side the player joins on a temporary switch are competing at the higher end of their respective leagues and can also offer the player regular first-team football.

The report, though, makes clear that any side who takes Endrick on loan will not be given any sort of option to sign the player on a permanent basis, with any loan deal being sanctioned for the good of the player’s career only.

IN-DEPTH: The 10 most expensive teenagers of all time, featuring Leny Yoro to Man Utd and three Real Madrid signings

Where could Endrick go and what has Ancelotti said?

Of the two sides, Fichajes indicates that Juventus are probably seen as a stronger option than Tottenham to sign the player owing to the fact they are still actively seeking a new forward and he will be presented with a clearer path towards first-team football than he would at Postecoglou’s side, who are well blessed for attacking options of their own.

Indeed, Spurs currently have the likes of Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner, all of whom can operate in the sort of positions Endrick prefers to operate in.

However, the report is adamant that Ancelotti is ready to sanction his exit, feeling more regular football would aid his development right now.

Endrick recently made history by becoming Real’s youngest-ever goalscorer in the Champions League and Ancelotti was quick to highlight the player’s enormous potential as well as his determination to become one of the world’s best.

“He has balls! Endrick had courage,” Ancelotti told Movistar about his goal against Stuttgart. “It was the last move of the game. He was convinced he’d score. He went for the most difficult solution, but it went well. In these two days, he’s shown himself to be brave, in every sense.”

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois jokingly added: “If he missed, they [Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe] would have killed him! But if he has the confidence to shoot, he has a super powerful shot. If he scores, everyone keeps quiet! He’s a boy with a lot of quality. It shows his personality.”

Latest Tottenham transfer news: Arsenal man linked / Archie Gray back to Leeds?

Meanwhile, Tottenham are being linked with a free-transfer raid on Arsenal for talented goalkeeper Karl Hein as Postecoglou looks to bring in more competition for Guglielmo Vicario.

Hein, 22, is currently on loan with LaLiga side Real Valladolid and has put in some solid performances, catching the attention of several suitors.

Spurs currently have veteran stopper Fraser Forster as backup to Vicario but Postecoglou wants to bring in younger competition – and Hein looks ideally placed with his contract at Emirates Stadium expiring next summer.

The Tottenham transfer model has seen them bring in several top young stars in recent times and now one of them who arrived over the summer in Archie Gray has found himself linked with a return to former club Leeds.

And while only a loan deal is being proposed, one significant former Premier League winger has good reason to believe why a move could come off.

Elsewhere, sources have told us that Spurs are tracking another top young star, this time in the form of a prolific Irish striker, who already has more than 50 senior appearances to his name at the age of 17.

Tottenham tipped to sign Arsenal star in shock free transfer ‘no one saw coming’

Description

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein as Ange Postecoglou looks to bring in more competition for Guglielmo Vicario.

Hein, 22, is currently on loan with LaLiga side Real Valladolid and has put in some solid performances, catching the attention of several clubs.

Reports last week suggested that Tottenham and Chelsea are both considering moves for the Estonian international but now Spurs have emerged as frontrunners.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim that Tottenham are seriously considering a swoop for Hein next summer in a move that ‘no one saw coming.’

Postecoglou is keen to bring in a new back-up goalkeeper to Vicario as a long-term replacement for 36-year-old veteran Fraser Forster.

Hein has less than a year remaining on his Arsenal contract and as things stand he will be available on a free transfer next summer.

He will be eligible to open pre-contract discussions with foreign clubs in January so could seal his departure from the Emirates this winter, while Tottenham will have to wait until next summer to make their move.

Tottenham target Arsenal star – report

It does seem likely that Tottenham could look to bring in a new goalkeeper next summer, with Forster heading for retirement and Vicario’s performances not filling the fanbase with confidence.

Vicario is Spurs’ undisputed no.1 for now but he has made a few big blunders in recent months, prompting the North Londoners to look at keeper targets.

Hein is considered a top prospect and has done well individually for Real Valladolid despite the Spanish side currently languishing in 19th place in the LaLiga table.

Football Insider claim that it’s ‘still possible’ Hein could sign a new contract with Arsenal but as time goes on, the speculation surrounding his future will only increase.

He remains the third-choice option at the Emirates behind David Raya and on-loan Norberto Neto, which is why he was allowed to go and spend the season in Spain.

Tottenham ‘could be tempted’ to make a move for Hein and if they do sign him, he would become the first ex-Gunners star to join Spurs since Emmanuel Adebayor in 2011.

Tottenham latest: New signing almost certain / Dragusin eyed

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Tottenham are virtually guaranteed to sign Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso at the end of the season.

Spurs waved goodbye to Giovani Lo Celso in the previous window, with the Argentine re-joining former club Betis.

Tottenham received a modest fee of around €10m / £8.4m for Lo Celso. But as part of that agreement, Tottenham successfully inserted an option to buy into the contract of Cardoso.

They can activate their option to buy in a two-week period in June of 2025. The deal would be worth €25m / £21m if triggered.

Tottenham also inserted a sell-on clause into Cardoso’s contract, meaning they’ll be in line to receive a percentage of the fee if Cardoso is sold to another club. Of course, Spurs have priority through the presence of their option to buy.

In other news, Spurs centre-back Radu Dragusin is generating interest from the Serie A, with both Napoli and Juventus linked with the defender in recent days.

However, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham are very unlikely to allow Dragusin to leave in January as Postecoglou is looking to add defenders to his squad, rather than let them leave.

With Micky van de Ven sidelined for the next few weeks with a hamstring injury, this could be Dragusin’s chance to finally nail down a spot in Postecoglou’s starting XI.

Leeds United transfers: Farke urged to seal huge transfer statement with raid on Tottenham for 'unbelievable' star

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Leeds United have been told they can lay down a massive promotion marker by bringing Archie Gray back to the club on loan in January – with one former Whites star labelling the teenager “unbelievable” and explaining why he thinks a move would “suit all parties”.

The West Yorkshire outfit were forced to part ways with their homegrown star over the summer after they missed out on a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Indeed, Gray was one of several stars to leave Elland Road over the summer as Leeds United raked in an impressive £120m-plus in transfer fees, with Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville two other big-name departures.

With 18-year-old Gray the first to depart, Leeds netted some £40m from his sale to the London side, though did hand Tottenham £10m of that back in an instant after they secured the permanent signing of defender Joe Rodon.

Despite that, speculation has suggested Tottenham could look to loan out Gray in the January window to enhance his big-game experience and with Sevilla – who have former Leeds director of sport Victor Orta in charge of transfers – already tipped to make a move.

Former Leeds star Lee Sharpe, however, has urged the Whites to bring Gray back to Elland Road if there is an opportunity to do so, explaining how such a move would suit everyone if it can be pulled off.

“I think it would be unbelievable if Leeds could take Archie on loan in the second half of the season,” Sharpe said.

“It would be one of those deals that suits everyone. Archie would be playing regular football at a very high standard in an environment that he has flourished in before, he would get better and would go back to Tottenham a better player. It would be great for Leeds because he’s such a quality, versatile player. It’s a loan that would benefit all parties.”

IN-DEPTH ~ The 10 most expensive Championship to Premier League transfers: Leeds Utd dominate list

Why a move to bring Gray back to Leeds make sense as Farke has his say

Since that move to London, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has taken his time to bed the teenager in, with the player limited to four substitute appearances in the Premier League.

However, he has featured more heavily in both the Carabao Cup and the Europa League and this week Gray completed his first 90 minutes of action for his new club as Manchester City were beaten 2-1 in the League Cup.

Nonetheless, Sharpe is adamant that a return to his former club would benefit all parties.

“Archie’s still a young lad and I think he’s at great club in Tottenham with a great manager in Ange Postecoglou,” Sharpe added. “It’s going to take time for him to establish himself in that team and, I don’t think Tottenham or Ange want to put him under that kind of pressure too soon.

“Archie Gary has got unbelievable ability. His football knowledge and football brain is incredible, and I think he’ll be a huge success, but he’s just a young lad at the moment and I think Tottenham have a development plan for him rather than just throwing him in the deep end.”

TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham currently do not have any plans to loan out Gray, and would only change their strategy if they were to drop out of both the Carabao Cup and Europe early on. As it stands, neither scenario looks possible.

Nonetheless, Leeds boss Daniel Farke has already responded to the speculation, revealing last month: “I don’t speak about other players who are under contract at other clubs. I’m a bit reluctant to do any comments who are not under contract anymore.

“Our fingers are crossed for Archie and his whole career. If you want some recommendation, he already has my telephone number but I keep it pretty private what I recommend.”

Latest Leeds transfer news: Forest midfielder linked / Kalvin Phillips talk wide of the mark

We understand though that Leeds do intend to look at their midfield options in the January window as they gear up for the second half of the season.

The Whites currently have both Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev sidelined through knee injuries, with neither expected back before the Festive period.

And while they recently brought in Josuha Guilavogui to cover for Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka, the possibility of another addition in January cannot be ruled out were their midfield needs to change.

To that end, sources have informed us that Leeds are one of several sides keeping tabs on Lewis O’Brien after his impressive form in MLS. Currently on loan from Nottingham Forest, the midfielder has the option to make his loan move permanent with LAFC in the January window.

However, if the player opts for a return to English football, Leeds are one of those in the mix to secure his signing.

The Whites have also been linked with a move for another former star in Kalvin Phillips amid claims he has failed to settle in Suffolk with loan side, Ipswich Town.

However, we understand those claims are wide of the mark and the Tractor Boys currently have no intention of breaking his loan deal from Manchester City at this stage.

A Lecce coach is not surprised by the transfer interest in Patrick Dorgu, following links with Tottenham and other European sides.

Tottenham have been tracking the left-back for months now, but they were put off by the Serie A team’s reported £29.5m (€35m, $39m) valuation of the 20-year-old.

Following reported interest from Manchester United, Napoli, Spurs, and Chelsea, along with the north London team’s failed attempt to lure him to the Premier League, Dorgu signed a long-term deal with Lecce last month.

The Denmark international’s contract now runs until the summer of 2029, but that is unlikely to stop the player from leaving; rather, it will just bump up his valuation.

Now, Dan Thomassen, the assistant coach of Lecce manager Luca Gotti, has admitted it is no surprise top teams are tracking the 6ft 2in player.

He told TipsBladet: “Those of us who deal with him every day quickly find out how great the potential is. People on the outside only watch the games, of course, but I am in no way surprised by what he is up to and the interest in him.

“I could already see that from the first week I arrived. It does not surprise me at all that there is such great interest in him. He is exploring his potential.”

Thomassen added that Dorgu, who is also very adept at playing as a left wing-back, is improving his consistency as well.

He added: “I don’t think the club has had any doubts about the potential. Over the past six months it has been an upward curve for Patrick and I also think the club can see that potential has turned into continuous performances on the pitch.

“This has meant that he has joined the A national team. I see it as a natural development that he has extended towards us.”

But if Dorgu did head to Ange Postecoglou’s side, he would not walk straight into his first-team. Destiny Udogie, who has a similar playing profile to Dorgu, has proven to be an excellent 2022 signing from Udinese, although his form has not been as impressive this term as it was last season.

If Spurs recruited him, that would likely spell the end of Wales defender Ben Davies’ time at the club – with the 31-year-old out of contract next summer.

Many teams are likely to follow Dorgu’s progress over the coming season and if he continues on his current trajectory, Lecce may be able to command a huge fee for this rising star.

Juventus consider re-signing Spurs man

Juventus are reportedly considering re-signing Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin in the January transfer window.

The Romania international swapped Genoa for Spurs in January 2024 but he has found his game time limited.

Now, reports suggest Juve are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, but Paris Saint-Germain centre-back and Slovakia international Milan Skriniar is their first choice pick.

Elsewhere, Postecoglou is reportedly unlikely to take up the option to turn Timo Werner’s loan move from RB Leizpig into a permanent deal in 2025.

The winger, 28, is, arguably, a squad player at best for Spurs and even though his buy option is around £8.5m (€10m, $11m)), this experiment may end next year.

Finally, Tottenham are said to be leading the race to sign 17-year-old Irish sensation Mason Melia, after impressing for St Patrick’s Athletic.
