‘Significant’ Tottenham striker move hits roadblock but Paratici can still secure stunning deal - TEAMtalk
Description

TEAMtalk have been given a major update on Tottenham Hotspur’s chase for an elite No.9 in the January transfer window, and while a spanner may have been thrown in the works, a ‘bargain’ move is still very much alive.

It’s no secret that Thomas Frank is exploring a move for potentially two new attacking options in the new year, with a left-winger and a central striker both positions that the Spurs boss is looking to strengthen.

Only four of Tottenham‘s 25 goals in all competitions so far this season have been scored by a genuine striker, with centre-back Micky van de Ven the club’s current top scorer with five.

Richarlison has netted three times, while Mathys Tel has scored once. Loan signing Randal Kolo Muani has yet to find the back of the net but has spent time on the sidelines, as has Dominic Solanke, whose injury issues continue to blight his time in north London.

With all that in mind, Spurs are being heavily linked with several strikers, with Juventus frontman Dusan Vlahovic very much a name on their radar.

A move for the Serbian, who has also been linked with Chelsea, makes plenty of sense, given his incredibly affordable price tag and the fact that Fabio Paratici is now back on board as the club’s sporting director.

The 53-year-old Italian has brokered some impressive deals for Tottenham from Serie A and could add Vlahovic to that list, although a change of managers in Turin has potentially muddied the water a little.

The Italian outfit recently replaced Igor Tudor with former Napoli and Italy boss Luciano Spalletti as they currently sit seventh in the Serie A table after nine games of the new season.

Vlahovic signing perfect for Tottenham

Vlahovic has made only five starts this term, but has still managed to notch seven goals and remains a potent striker at European level – one who would arguably be an upgrade on what Frank already has at his disposal.

Diving into the latest surrounding Vlahovic’s future following the turn of events at Juventus, TEAMtalk insider Dean Jones has given us an update on the player’s situation.

Jones said: “The fact Vlahovic suddenly has a new coach is interesting because it is a moment that could potentially lead to a change in his situation at Juve.

“However, the major issue still surrounds the terms of his deal rather than whether the coach likes him, so I do think the same problem will exist. A few clubs in England will be keeping an eye on this but no one has been particularly close to making an offer soon.

“There is a chance he is still available in January because Juventus can’t handle the prospect of him leaving for free in the summer. So, either way, something significant has to happen.

“If he leaves in January I think someone will be picking up a bargain. The current expectation is that Juve would be looking for €20million [£17.6m], I’m told.”

Latest Tottenham news: More striker news; Richarlison exit

First up, Tottenham chances of signing a 204-goal striker in the January transfer window have been rated by a major source, as Thomas Frank continues to be frustrated by a lack of productivity from the No.9 position.

Elsewhere, Everton are exploring the signing of a new striker in the January transfer window, and TEAMtalk sources have revealed Richarlison’s stance on leaving Spurs to rejoin his former side in a spectacular move.

And finally, Thomas Frank has confirmed that two more Tottenham stars had picked up injuries ahead of the Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle, taking the total to 12, although two could be back for Saturday’s London derby against Chelsea.

Tottenham given definitive answer on signing 204-goal Ivan Toney in fresh transfer update - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing a 204-goal striker in the January transfer window have been rated, as Thomas Frank continues to be frustrated by a lack of productivity from the No.9 position.

Spurs’ central strikers have accounted for just four of their 25 goals in all competitions this season, with centre-back Micky van de Ven the club’s top scorer with five.

In terms of how that breaks down, Richarlison has netted three times, although two of those came on the opening weekend of the campaign, while Mathys Tel has scored once. Loan signing Randal Kolo Muani has yet to find the back of the net but has spent time on the sidelines, as has Dominic Solanke, whose injury issues continue to blight his time in north London.

It’s been widely speculated that Tottenham could move for a new central striker in January, due to the lack of productivity from the likes of Richarlison, Tel and Kolo Muani so far. That’s despite the fact that the addition of another left-winger and a centre-back are arguably more pressing needs.

Former Brentford frontman Ivan Toney and Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic are two names continually being linked with a move to Spurs, with TEAMtalk’s Dean Jones previously giving his thoughts on Toney linking up with his ex-Bees boss Frank again.

However, Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke has now given a fresh update on Tottenham’s chances of luring Toney away from Saudi Arabia in the new year.

Spurs fans were given hope that the England international could be on his way to north London after Frank opened the door to a reunion, but O’Rourke has sadly sided with Jones when it comes to the Dane getting that reunion with the Al-Ahli forward any time soon.

When asked about the speculation over Toney’s future, O’Rourke said: “I think Toney‘s quite happy with life out there as well in the Middle East. He’s been a big success for Al-Ahli, 40 goals and eight assists in 58 appearances, that’s pretty good going by anybody’s standards.

“Al-Ahli have no real desire to let their top goalscorer leave in January as well as they want to try and win the Saudi Pro League title. It looks a difficult deal to do for so many reasons. Al-Ahli don’t really want to lose Toney and Toney’s not pushing for a move just yet either, despite maybe hoping to boost his chances of being in that England squad for next summer’s World Cup.”

DON’T MISS ➡️ Tottenham star says YES to joining Everton as David Moyes considers stunning January swoop – sources

Why Tottenham should still push for Toney

That last comment surrounding England is the one big angle Tottenham need to push when trying to convince Toney to swap Saudi for a return home.

Frank’s men are currently going well at the top end of the Premier League table, despite not playing particularly well and also having those issues with the No.9 position.

That’s where the 29-year-old could be a stunning fit, having quit English football for the riches on offer in the Middle East 15 months ago.

Toney has been a prolific scorer in the Saudi Pro League, as you would expect for a player of his quality. His overall career totals are impressive, with 204 goals in 466 appearances in all competitions.

His pace, power and finishing ability would arguably be a notch up on what Frank already has at his disposal, although that’s probably harsh on Kolo Muani given the small sample size so far. Solanke, meanwhile, has also shown flashes that he could be a 20-goal-a-season forward for Tottenham if he could stay fit long enough.

O’Rourke also feels that Toney and Spurs are a strong fit, even if it will be a difficult transfer to pull off, adding: “Tottenham would be a good fit because of the Thomas Frank situation with Ivan Toney, but you’ve got to remember Tottenham have got a lot of attacking options in that team as well.

“Solanke out injured at the minute, they’ll be hoping they can get him back. Kolo Muani’s just returned from injury as well and then they’ve got Richarlison and Mathys Tel as well.

“They are quite well stocked in that area of the team. If maybe one of those players was to leave in January, then that might increase the likelihood of Tottenham bringing in a new striker in January.”

Tottenham injury list now HITS 12 but two key stars to return against Chelsea

Tottenham injury list now HITS 12 but two key stars to return against Chelsea - TEAMtalk
Description

Thomas Frank has confirmed that two more Tottenham Hotspur stars had picked up injuries ahead of the Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle, taking the total to 12, although two could be back for Saturday’s London derby against Chelsea.

Thomas Frank’s men crashed out of the League Cup at the last-16 stage as goals from Fabian Schar and Nicolas Woltemade condemned them to defeat at St James’ Park, in a game where the Spurs boss was forced to shuffle his pack again.

It emerged before Wednesday’s clash that midfielder Archie Gray, who was expected to start on Tyneside, has picked up a calf issue to leave Frank scrambling for numbers against the Magpies.

That means that Tottenham have now double-digit injury absentees, with the situation reminiscent of the problems under Ange Postecoglou midway through last season.

However, Gray was not the only player to pull up lame before the Newcastle clash, with Wilson Odobert also surprisingly missing against Eddie Howe’s men.

Frank has now revealed that the France Under-21 international picked up a side strain in the lead-up to the game, but indicated that he could be back as early as Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.

When asked about Odobert, the Tottenham boss said after the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle: “Odobert had a side, strain, unfortunately, that kept him out for this game. Also, we need to assess him but it could look positive for Chelsea.”

Frank also revealed that Guglielmo Vicario missed the Newcastle clash through injury, but the Spurs number one should be back in time for Chelsea.

That means Vicario and Odobert join Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Ben Davies, Kota Takai, Dominic Solanke, Radu Dragusin, Destiny Udogie, Archie Gray, and Yves Bissouma on the injury list.

DON’T MISS ➡️ How Tottenham could use McTominay and succeed where Man Utd failed as interest in Napoli raid develops

Odobert best of a bad bunch on the left

The left-wing role has been a major issue for Thomas Frank, with none of Brennan Johnson, Xavi Simons or Mathys Tel making anything of an impression there.

In fact, Odobert has looked the most comfortable in the position, hence Frank’s decision to often give him the nod for that role.

The France Under-21 international has the ability to go outside and inside, something the other options struggle with, and he at least gives a better balance to the team – even if the end product is far from stellar.

If Odobert is available to face Chelsea, it will be interesting to see which way Frank goes with his team selection.

Mohammed Kudus started centrally in more of a No.10 role in the 3-0 win at Everton last weekend, with Johnson on the right and Simons out on the left.

The Dutch playmaker could find himself back on the bench, if Frank opts for the better balance to the side and recalls Odobert – although that would be a huge call against a Blues side who traditionally do incredibly well in this match-up.

Description

Everton are exploring the signing of a new striker in the January transfer window, and TEAMtalk sources have revealed Richarlison’s stance on leaving Tottenham to rejoin his former side in a spectacular move.

The Toffees’ strong start to the season has tailed off after David Moyes’ side suffered back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Spurs, leaving them 14th in the Premier League table.

The lack of a clinical striker is proving to be an issue for Everton, with Beto and summer signing Thierno Barry scoring one and zero goals respectively so far this term.

Moyes will have the full backing of Everton’s owners, The Friedkin Group, in the January transfer window, and TEAMtalk can confirm that the signing of a new striker is under consideration.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones has exclusively revealed that ex-Toffee Richarlison is ‘increasingly likely’ to leave Spurs.

And crucially, sources have now revealed that Richarlison would jump at the opportunity to rejoin Everton, who he left in 2022. He still feels loved by the club’s supporters and is very open to a return should the opportunity present itself.

Everton have not yet decided on whether to move for Richarlison, but are keeping a very close eye on the situation. The key thing for them is what kind of deal Tottenham would be willing to entertain in January, and the London side green lighting an exit hinges on one key factor…

Tottenham stance on Richarlison revealed

Richarlison always gives 100% for Tottenham but he has found consistent minutes hard to come by, and could play even less once Dominic Solanke recovers from injury.

Everton are crying out for a new striker and many of their supporters would welcome the 28-year-old back with open arms.

Richarlison is also versatile, so he could give Moyes another option on the wings as well as up front.

However, Tottenham will almost certainly only entertain letting Richarlison go if they sign a new striker of their own in January.

TEAMtalk has consistently reported that Spurs are considering signing a new forward, with Porto striker Samu Aghehowa understood to be one of the players on their radar.

Financially, re-signing Richarlison on loan with an option to buy included in the deal would make the most sense for Everton, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham would be open to that, or insist on a permanent sale.

The Brazilian is keen on a return but the dominoes still need to fall into place for a deal to happen in January.

Everton have a history of bringing former players home. For example, Moyes re-signed Steven Pienaar from Tottenham back in 2012 and he went on to be a success in his second stint on Merseyside.

Richarlison notched 53 goals and 15 assists in 152 appearances for Everton, and has scored 23 times and assisted 12 in 105 matches for Spurs.

Tottenham sources insist summer signing is NOT Werner 2.0 after ANOTHER blank against Newcastle

Tottenham breath huge sigh of relief as insider insists summer signing is NOT Timo Werner 2.0 - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fantastic start to the Premier League campaign under Thomas Frank and sit third in the table, but one of their new additions hasn’t had the expected impact so far.

Spurs had a net spend of around £150m in the summer transfer window, and the investment, coupled with the appointment of Frank, is showing signs of transforming them into a better side.

One of the biggest names brought in was Xavi Simons, who was signed from RB Leipzig for a fee of £51m. But the 22-year-old is yet to score his first goal for Tottenham and has only contributed one assist.

The Dutchman played the full 90 minutes of Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Newcastle last night, but once again drew another blank.

TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones insists, however, that Tottenham believe Simons will not be a repeat of Timo Werner, who struggled to make an impact when he joined from Leipzig.

“It has been a slow start to life at Spurs for Xavi Simons, there is not much doubt about that. But I do not sense any panic or a feeling that they may have made a mistake in signing him,” Jones stated.

“They had a strong feeling in his ability and that has not disappeared over this small opening period.

“This is not a Timo Werner situation. They were happy with him going back to Leipzig but my understanding is they believe they still have a top talent here in Simons that they have taken from the German club.

“One of the difficulties has been the lack of genuine quality in that attack. Kudus has done well since signing but there has not been any other consistent, top-notch performances in the attack outside of that.

“Maybe once Solanke is back in the team and Kolo Muani is more in the groove we will start to see Simons at his best. It’s too soon to hold regret over signing him.”

Tottenham still back summer signing to be a big success

Simons has started Tottenham’s last three Premier League games, playing as either a winger or attacking midfielder in Frank’s fluid system.

The partnership of him and Mohamed Kudus on either flank certainly has the potential to be a potent one for Spurs as they look to challenge for trophies this season.

But Simons’ creativity needs to be backed up with clinical finishing from his striker, and the feeling is that once Dominic Solanke recovers from injury, he could pick up more assists.

Spurs are also considering signing a new striker in January amid uncertainty over the future of Richarlison.

TEAMtalk has revealed that Porto striker Samu Aghehowa has been scouted extensively by Tottenham and he is one of the players on their shortlist.

Aghehowa has notched 36 goals in 56 appearances for Porto, and the interest suggests that Frank wants to sign a prolific forward who can thrive off the supply from the likes of Simons and Kudus.

Simons looks set to remain a key part of Frank’s team and he will hope to score a goal of his own when Tottenham face Chelsea in a big Premier League clash on Saturday.

Latest Tottenham news: Vlahovic linked / Van de Ven ‘asking price’

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Tottenham could go head-to-head with Chelsea in the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The Serbian international’s contract with Juve expires next summer and he is increasingly likely to leave the Italian club in 2026, perhaps in January.

In other news, a shock report has claimed that a bid of £88m would be enough to convince Spurs to sell Micky van de Ven, amid interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Tottenham want £88m before selling star man to Liverpool – report - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham could sell arguably their best player this season to Liverpool if the Reds meet their £88m asking price, according to a shock report.

Tottenham are quietly enjoying a fantastic start to the new campaign and new manager Thomas Frank has hit the ground running. Spurs are without two of their finest attackers in James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, yet are the joint-top scorers in the Premier League with 17 goals.

The biggest improvement has come at the other end of the pitch, with their mark of seven goals conceded bettered only by Arsenal (three). The dire days of shambolic defensive displays under Ange Postecoglou are mercifully a thing of the past.

Micky van de Ven has made huge impacts at both ends of the pitch. His partnership with Cristian Romero has been watertight at the back and the Dutchman has incredibly scored five goals across all competitions in just 13 appearances this term.

Tottenham obviously have no interest in letting the 24-year-old go, but according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, there is a price that could change their mind.

It’s claimed Spurs have let it be known Van de Ven is valued at €100m / £88m and Liverpool are among three clubs taking a look. The others are Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The report read: ‘His physique, speed, and defensive awareness have attracted the attention of clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.’

It continued: ‘Micky van de Ven is on Real Madrid’s radar, who see the Dutchman as an alternative to strengthen their defence for the next cycle.

‘However, Real Madrid is not alone. Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also closely monitoring the situation, making the competition for him real and fierce.’

Should Tottenham fear Van de Ven sale?

The first point to make is Fichajes are not known for being among the more reliable outlets when it comes to transfer news, even if a handful of aspects in their story do make sense.

All three of the interested clubs named – Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – want to sign a new centre-back next summer.

However, that trio of teams all have confirmed interest in other targets who can be signed without having to pay such a monster fee.

At £88m, Van de Ven would become the most expensive defender of all time, surpassing the £80m Manchester United paid when signing Harry Maguire.

Liverpool, Bayern and Real are all pursuing Marc Guehi. Liverpool and Real are also monitoring Bayern’s Dayot Upamecano.

As mentioned, both of those players are out of contract next summer and could be signed for free. Upamecano may yet pen fresh terms in Munich, but it’s already been confirmed Guehi is leaving Crystal Palace.

Sticking solely to Liverpool, Van de Ven as a left-footer could be perceived as the long-term heir to Virgil van Dijk. The iconic Reds ace is right-footed but has always played at left centre-back.

However, Van Dijk is under contract to Liverpool until the summer of 2027 and it’s at right centre-back where Liverpool are sizing up a new defender in 2026.

Latest Liverpool and Tottenham news – Chiesa / McTominay

In other news, TEAMtalk has outlined the six reasons why Federico Chiesa must leave Liverpool despite the Italian openly admitting he wants to stay.

In Chiesa’s case, he may need to start thinking with his head and hot just his heart.

Elsewhere, reports have detailed what Scott McTominay thinks about the possibility of joining Tottenham.

What McTominay REALLY thinks of joining Tottenham with deal expected to be agreed - TEAMtalk
Description

A fresh report has backed up what TEAMtalk are hearing about Scott McTominay and the possibility of joining Tottenham, and the Scot is expected to put pen to paper, though not on the deal you might be expecting.

McTominay left Manchester United two summers ago in what is now universally perceived to be a poor piece of business from the Red Devils.

The midfielder moved for just £25.7m and in his first season with Napoli – in which they won Serie A – the Scot was named the league’s MVP.

A curious report from The Sun earlier this week claimed that while McTominay enjoys the admiration and love he feels in Naples, it is on the verge of becoming too much to handle.

The 28-year-old is treated like a true superstar in the city and amid the extra attention, the report suggested he could look favourably on a return to England if a suitable opportunity arose.

Tottenham are the team drawing the strongest links and TEAMtalk’s transfer insider, Fraser Fletcher, has been able to verify Spurs’ interest in the player.

However, sources have also told us that suggestions McTominay is uncomfortable with the added attention he receives in Italy are not true.

As such, it should come as no surprise to see reporter, Sacha Tavolieri, now claim McTominay wants to remain with Napoli rather than return to England and join a club like Spurs.

Tavolieri wrote on Wednesday: ‘While several English media outlets have reported growing interest in Scott McTominay from Tottenham and other Premier League clubs in recent days, the Scottish midfielder appears in no rush to leave Napoli.

‘According to our sources, the player’s entourage has firmly denied rumours of a possible return to England, stating that McTominay is “extremely happy” in Campania.’

Tavolieri added: ‘Despite approaches from some English clubs, McTominay has no intention of leaving Napoli in the short term.’

McTominay to sign new contract with Napoli?

If McTominay is to agree a deal in the coming months, the likeliest one is a contract extension in Naples.

That was the view sources put forward to TEAMtalk on Tuesday and it’s now been backed up by Tavolieri too.

The reporter continued: ‘A contract extension is not out of the question in the coming months.

‘The player, under contract until 2028, would like to sign a long-term contract with the Partenopei club, attracted by the project and the passion surrounding the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.’

What’s more, Napoli too have their eyes on a contract extension amid their total satisfaction with the player,

Tavolieri concluded: ‘The Neapolitan management, for their part, appreciate his exemplary mindset and his influence in the dressing room.

‘If Scotland have found a pillar for their national team in McTominay, Napoli seem to have found a new warrior in midfield – determined to make their mark on Serie A.’

Clearly, a move for McTominay is a non-starter for Tottenham.

One Tottenham star in far more danger than another as insider clears up Frank feelings on £55m man - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have made no decision to cash in on Dominic Solanke in January, sources insist, as the striker works towards a return from injury.

The forward has been sidelined for Spurs and is determined to make a strong comeback.

There has been optimism that he could be back in action in November but the club are refusing to put a specific timeline on his return.

Tottenham have been cautious in managing his recovery and are taking things slowly to ensure he is fully fit before returning to match action.

Inside the club, Solanke is still regarded as a player who can add a new dimension to the attack and increase their goal threat.

Reports have recently suggested that manager Thomas Frank is willing to sell him in the January transfer market.

However, our sources believe that this is wide of the mark for now and that he is still viewed as the strongest number nine among their current options.

There remains confidence that he will score goals regularly once integrated into the side, with Frank’s track record of maximising the quality of his strikers strengthening that belief.

When Solanke is match fit, the Tottenham manager intends to give him his chance to thrive as the team’s main focal point.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, it is Richarlison whose position is under greater threat – with a possibility he could be moved on in January.

DON’T MISS: ⚪️ Ranking FIVE dazzling Tottenham left wing January targets: Dream signing to Brazilian sensation

How has Solanke been performing?

Last season in the Premier League for Spurs, Solanke scored nine goals and assisted three more.

That tally made him the second-highest scorer in the Tottenham side. This term, he has played just 31 minutes, and has been sidelined since the second week of the season.

That has given Richarlison more opportunities, and while it looked initially like he was taking them, he’s scored just three league goals in nine games, though he does also have two assists.

Richarlison has been dropped for the last three league games, suggesting Frank isn’t enamoured with his recent returns.

As such, when Solanke returns to action, he could show he’s the main worthy of being kept, and Richarlison is therefore surplus to requirements.

Tottenham round-up: Bowen offer report

A report has claimed that Tottenham are offering £53million for the services of West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen.

TEAMtalk is aware the Hammers don’t want to sell, but Bowen would be open to leaving if the Hammers were on their way down.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk sources have stated Spurs remain interested in Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, but have not solidified their interest into an active pursuit.

And TEAMtalk is also aware that Scott McTominay is on the radar of the north London club, but Napoli want to reward his stellar first season with a new contract.

Tottenham in hunt for prolific Brentford man Frank could get far more out of than before - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are reportedly one of the Premier League clubs in the hunt for a Brentford star who Thomas Frank never got to see the full impact of up close.

Spurs have made a great start to the season. They find themselves third in the Premier League after nine games, and no side has scored more than their 17 goals – level with Manchester City and Chelsea.

For Tottenham, the goals have been spread around, with Micky van de Ven – a centre-back – and Richarlison the top scorers, scoring just three each.

Thomas Frank therefore knows there is ground to be made if a top striker joins the side.

According to Caught Offside, Spurs are closely monitoring the situation of Brentford forward Igor Thiago, whose six goals this season make him the second-highest scorer in the league this season, behind only Erling Haaland.

They are not alone in their admiration, with Newcastle and Aston Villa both in the mix – the Magpies are believed to be ‘leading the chase.’

Tottenham have an offer in mind, though – a loan with an option to buy for €35million (£30.8m), which is essentially what Brentford paid for him in 2024.

DON’T MISS: Ranking FIVE dazzling Tottenham left wing January targets: Dream signing to Brazilian sensation

Frank could finally see Thiago shine

Tottenham have an ace up their sleeve in that Frank was the man who signed Thiago for Brentford.

The Brazilian was brought in in July 2024, but was immediately injured and only ended up playing 169 minutes for Frank.

The boss clearly saw something in him to sign him for what was then Brentford’s record fee, and the Bees have reaped the rewards of that, with Thiago on six goals in nine league games this term.

Frank will be eager to get Thiago to his new club in order to see him continue to impress.

Indeed, the boss is not said to fancy current Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, so the Brazilian could be a perfect replacement.

Tottenham round-up: Spurs want West Ham icon

A report has suggested Spurs are offering £53million in order to sign West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen.

They were told previously they’d have to pay around three times that to prise the icon away.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk is aware Tottenham are continuing to pursue Porto striker Samu Aghehowa, but are not yet committing to an active pursuit.

Sources have also told TEAMtalk that the north London club are targeting Scott McTominay, but there’s a plan at Napoli to give him a new contract after his starring role in their title win last season.

Tottenham Hotspur ‘offering’ £53m for West Ham’s best player - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a huge offer for a West Ham United star that Nuno simply cannot sell, according to a sensational report, but TEAMtalk believes that it is very unlikely that Thomas Frank will be able to bring him to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.

Spurs and West Ham are bitter London rivals, and while the former is going from strength to strength, the latter is struggling. Under manager Thomas Frank, Tottenham are third in the Premier League table at the moment and have picked up five points from three matches in the Champions League, while West Ham continue to struggle for points despite replacing Graham Potter with Nuno as the manager in late September.

Jarrod Bowen has been West Ham’s shining light this season and has been the Hammers’ best player with three goals and one assist in nine Premier League matches.

The 28-year-old, who is a versatile player and operates as a right-winger or centre-forward, scored 14 goals and gave 10 assists in 36 matches in all competitions for West Ham last season.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham, who signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham in the summer of 2025, have taken a shine to Bowen and ‘are offering €60 million (£53m, $70m)’ for the England international.

The Spanish news outlet has claimed that Tottenham have ‘emerged as a clear candidate’ to sign Bowen and are ‘prepared to offer up to €60million (£53m, $70m) to convince West Ham’ to sell them their prized asset.

West Ham ‘are not ruling out a sale if they receive an offer that meets their expectations’, according to the report, which has noted that Tottenham view Bowen ‘as a high-impact signing’.

Bowen has been on the books of West Ham since January 2020 and is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2030.

The attacker has made 248 appearances for West Ham so far in his career, scoring 77 goals and giving 53 assists in the process.

Any truth in Jarrod Bowen from West Ham to Tottenham rumour?

Fichajes is not one of the most reliable sources, so one has to take the rumour that Tottenham are planning a bid for Bowen with a pinch of salt.

It would be remiss to suggest that Tottenham would not at least admire Bowen, given how good he has been over the years for West Ham, but it is very unlikely that last season’s Europa League winners will feel that they will be able to sign him.

There have been historical links, too, with transfer journalist Graeme Bailey reporting on HITC in June 2024 that Tottenham wanted to sign Bowen at the time.

Tottenham made ‘an enquiry’ for Bowen, with West Ham telling their London and Premier League rivals that ‘it would take a bid in the region of £150million (€170.4m, $198.3m) for the Hammers to even consider the sale of Bowen’.

It was again Bailey who reported on TBR in April 2025 that Tottenham were in ‘constant contact about Bowen – both with West Ham and the forward’s representatives’, but no move materialised.

Tottenham and West Ham are bitter London rivals, and the Hammers fans would loathe to see their prized asset make the switch to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

English actor Danny Dyer publicly said in May 2025 that his son-in-law, Jarrod Bowen, would not join Tottenham.

Dyer said on Channel Four: “Let me tell you something now, he certainly won’t be going to Spurs.

“If he was ever going to leave, he would never go to Tottenham.

“No, listen, I would never stand in the way of his career. I have no right to do that.

“But he’s an incredible human being, an incredible player, he’s not a man that should sit on the bench.

“Chelsea, why would he come to a smaller club? Liverpool have got Mo Salah…

“We need a good season [next] year. I won’t blame him slipping off.

“But West Ham need to have a good season. In answer to your question, the geezer’s not going nowhere!”

With West Ham second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment, it is unthinkable that manager Nuno would be willing to sell Bowen.

Sources have told TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, that West Ham have no plans whatsoever to sell Bowen in the January transfer window.

TEAMtalk understands that Lucas Paqueta wants to leave West Ham, who are not going to put themselves in a position where they lose two of their best players at the same time.

However, we understand that Bowen would not be against leaving West Ham if they are on their way down.
