Major exit concerns spark Tottenham move for seasoned Atletico Madrid star - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are being tipped to make a move on LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid to sign a seasoned defender after reports continue to suggest that a top star could head back to Italy this summer.

Major changes are expected to a Spurs squad that struggled badly with injuries during the 2024/25 season and massively underperformed domestically, despite the Europa League win producing a welcome silver lining and a first trophy success in 17 years.

Doubts continue to rumble on over whether Ange Postecoglou will still be in charge come the start of the new campaign, but transfer business has already kicked into gear after Kevin Danso’s loan from Lens was turned into a permanent deal.

And now a fresh report has emerged detailing Tottenham‘s interest in signing experienced Atletico full-back Reinildo Mandava.

Speaking after victory in Europe, Postecoglou admitted that signing players with Champions League experience was an absolute must for a young Spurs squad – an admission that is warranted whether the Australian remains in charge or not.

Mandava certainly has that, having appeared in 26 UCL games for Diego Simeone’s men since joining them in 2022 from French outfit Lille and Africa Foot reports that Spurs are firmly in the race for his signature.

In total, the Mozambique international has featured 102 times for Atletico and while he nominally plays as a left-back, Mandava can also play on the right or centrally. The fact that he has that ‘Champions League experience’ though ticks a number of boxes, as Tottenham prepare for a return to Europe’s elite cup competition.

The defender is due to become a free agent at the end of this month, although Atletico have added a short extension so that he can feature in the Club World Cup before he then likely departs for nothing later this summer.

The report does add, however, that Tottenham are not the only interested suitors and that Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace also are also keen on the player.

Atletico star could be straight Udogie replacement

Mandava’s ability to play multiple defensive roles certainly makes him an attractive proposition, especially when left-back Destiny Udogie continues to be linked with a return to Serie A.

The Italy international, who has struggled with injury issues for the past two seasons, was in and out of Postecoglou’s side during the current campaign, with Djed Spence often preferred in the left-back role.

Indeed, Udogie has never really recaptured the stunning form he produced in the opening 10 games of the 2023/24 campaign, having been a €20million signing from Udinese back in 2022.

Recent reports from Corriere della Sera claims that AC Mian have targeted the 22-year-old as a replacement for Theo Hernandez at the San Siro.

The report adds that Milan’s new head coach Massimiliano Allegri and their new sporting director Igli Tare have identified the Tottenham man and Leeds United’s Junior Firpo as their top full-back targets for the summer.

Udogie has scored two goals and added four assists in 66 games for the club so far.

Inter Milan bosses 'in London' to discuss Tottenham SWAP deal - report - TEAMtalk
Description

Inter Milan’s representatives are reportedly in London and plan to meet with Tottenham to discuss a swap deal which could see the clubs exchange defenders.

The Nerazzurri are pushing to appoint Como boss Cesc Fabregas as their new manager, following the departure of Simone Inzaghi, but are still working on transfer targets.

Inter are keen to get some transfer business done before the Club World Cup and are keen to sign Spurs centre-back Radu Dragusin, who thrived in Serie A with former club Genoa.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Inter’s bosses will meet with Tottenham to negotiate swapping defenders Dragusin and Yann Bisseck.

The report notes that Bisseck, 23, is wanted by several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, West Ham and Manchester United.

It’s claimed that Tottenham have been the most active club in the race for the once-capped German international, however, and Inter are willing to let him go after an inconsistent 2024/25.

Inter could ask for Dragusin to head the other way to fill the void, in a deal that could potentially benefit both clubs.

Tottenham interest in Inter Milan ace CONFIRMED

TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Rudy Galetti has led the way with his reporting on Bisseck, exclusively revealing Tottenham’s interest in the Inter centre-back on April 24.

And while there is rival Premier League interest in Bisseck, we understand that Aston Villa are not a club to watch. Instead, it is Everton, West Ham and Bournemouth who are also pursuing the German, per sources.

Inter will look to sign a replacement should Bisseck leave. Dragusin could indeed be an option, given his experience in Serie A, but so far, there has been no concrete indications of Tottenham being willing to let him go.

Spurs want to add to their defensive options to fill the void that’ll be left by Ben Davies, who is set to be released when his contract expires on June 30.

The expectation is that Bisseck will only leave Inter after the Club World Cup, so a departure is not as advanced as the Italian press are suggesting.

As Galetti revealed in a new, exclusive update for TEAMtalk on June 4, Inter are very interested in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, and have shortlisted him as a leading target.

Liverpool are also keen on Guehi, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Inter may try for Dragusin should they miss out on the Palace captain.

Tottenham transfer news: Stunning Son Heung-min sale decision reached - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham will sell captain Son Heung-min on one condition this summer, and where he’s expected to go if departing has been confirmed.

Son is unquestionably the greatest South Korean footballer of all time, likely the No 1 Asian footballer of all time, and ranks extremely highly amongst the finest to pull on a Tottenham shirt.

The forward sits fifth in the club’s all-time top scorers chart with 173 goals, behind only Harry Kane (280), Jimmy Greaves (268), Bobby Smith (208) and Martin Chivers (174).

He’s also the club’s all-time leading assister in the Premier League era with 77 despite not joining the club until the age of 23.

Son finally lifted his first major trophy in Spurs colours a fortnight ago when helping Tottenham defeat Manchester United in the final of the Europa League.

However, that may prove to be one of Son’s final appearances in a Tottenham shirt, with the club now open to cashing in.

That is according to the PA news agency whose report has since been picked up by multiple outlets including the BBC.

It’s claimed interest from the Saudi Pro League – which initially arose two summers ago – is ramping back up.

Spurs are well aware sizeable bids may be on the horizon and according to the report, they will agree to sell Son if ‘significant’ sums are put on the table.

How big of a bid is required to get the green light from Tottenham was not made clear.

Tottenham triggered a one-year extension in Son’s contract in January to cover the 2025/26 season. However, he is contracted no further than that and the current window may represent Tottenham’s best and final chance to generate a substantial fee.

There are other financial factors Tottenham must always consider when the idea of selling Son comes around.

His global commercial value to the club is ‘enormous’, according to The Independent, and for the third time in four years, Spurs will tour his home country of South Korea in pre-season.

Nevertheless, now aged 32, Son is a player on the decline. Injuries hampered his season at points, though in 46 appearances he scored just 11 goals. That was Son’s lowest goals return since his first season in north London.

As such, his future is now up for discussion and if Saudi sides do thunder in with tempting bids, Tottenham are ready to say yes.

Tottenham target FOUR exciting midfielders as Ange Postecoglou makes request - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are prioritizing a central midfield reinforcement this summer and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton figures highly on their shortlist, TEAMtalk understands.

The 21-year-old England international has earned admiration at Spurs for his composure, vision, and ability to dictate play, qualities seen as a better fit for Ange Postecoglou’s high-pressing system than current options Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

Wharton’s standout performances for Palace, where he has become a linchpin since his £18m move from Blackburn Rovers in 2024, have made him a prime candidate to bolster Spurs’ engine room.

However, prising Wharton from Palace will be no easy task. The Eagles view him as integral to their project under Oliver Glasner, and sources suggest a transfer is unlikely before the Club World Cup break in July 2025, with Palace holding firm for a fee upwards of £60m.

Spurs’ desperation to address midfield frailties, exposed by injuries and suspensions this season, could push them to test Palace’s resolve post-tournament.

Elsewhere, Tottenham hold a first-refusal clause on Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso, a 23-year-old American midfielder. Despite his combative style suiting Postecoglou’s needs, Cardoso prefers a move to Atletico Madrid, complicating Spurs’ plans.

Another target, Lille’s Angel Gomes, remains on the radar, but the 23-year-old free agent-to-be is attracting interest from Chelsea and other European clubs, making a deal competitive.

Tottenham keen on Man Utd-linked Sporting star

TEAMtalk understands that Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjumland is another one to watch for Tottenham.

The 24-year-old Dane, admired for his versatility and work rate, is also on Manchester United’s shortlist, which could drive up his £50m price tag.

Hjulmand’s Premier League ambitions align with Spurs’ vision, but competition may force early action.

With Postecoglou keen to add experience and creativity to a youthful midfield, Tottenham’s recruitment team faces a pivotal summer.

Wharton’s potential as a long-term anchor makes him the dream signing, but navigating Palace’s resistance and rival interest in Cardoso, Gomes, and Hjulmand will test Spurs’ resolve as they aim to elevate their squad for a much better campaign than last season.

Postecoglou is a big admirer of Wharton and a Tottenham swoop for the Palace ace could hinge upon whether the Australian coach stays or goes, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy set to make a final decision imminently, and Brentford boss Thomas Frank firmly in the frame to replace him.

Postecoglou sack: Tottenham told to appoint Man Utd legend to replace Aussie as Levy 'decides' to make change

Tottenham urged to appoint Championship manager to replace Postecoglou amid growing sack talk - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have been urged to consider the appointment of Michael Carrick as their new manager for one major reason, amid reports Daniel Levy has finally made up his mind and decided to sack Ange Postecoglou.

The 59-year-old has guided Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years after success in the Europa League, ending a long and painful drought that had seen the club fall short at the final hurdle on one too many occasions. But despite having his name carved in Tottenham Hotspur folklore, Postecoglou will likely instead find himself collecting his P45 just a matter of days after that historic night in Bilbao.

And having finished a woeful 17th in the Premier League this season, the last place before relegation, the former Celtic boss appears to be set to pay the price for their failures, despite the fact he has delivered on both his trophy promise and returned Spurs to the promised land of the Champions League at the same time.

Nonetheless, a report on Sunday revealed that the unimpressed chairman, Levy, has decided to call time on Postecoglou’s reign and will announce the news when he returns to work from a short holiday this week. To that end, it was claimed by the Independent that Postecoglou now has ‘less than a five per cent chance’ of keeping his job.

A number of names have already been linked with the upcoming hotseat, though, former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has explained why they should turn to someone who knows the club inside out, with Middlesbrough boss Carrick his No.1 choice.

Explaining that logic, Cole told Paddy Power: “At Tottenham, Daniel Levy is running out of managerial candidates for the job. He’s gone big, he’s gone bold, and he’s gone off the beaten track, but none of them seem to have worked.

“Michael Carrick could be a good option for the manager’s job. An ex-Spurs player, who understands the club, would be quite nice.

“Also, I’d like to see Glenn Hoddle back at the club in some capacity. I know Tottenham fans would love to see him back and he’s got the best football brain I know.

“I’d love to see Glenn Hoddle back in the club in some capacity, maybe supporting Michael Carrick. The club needs bringing together because it was really torn at times last season.”

Next Tottenham manager: Preferred name emerges to replace Postecoglou

“Should Spurs get rid of Ange Postecoglou, they’ve got Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Oliver Glasner on their doorstep,” Murphy began.

“They’re all very capable managers, they know the Premier League and they’ve all produced fit, well-organised, adaptable teams at their respective clubs.

“I think any of those three would thrive in the Spurs job with the players they’d have at their disposal.

“They may look further afield for a new manager and then who knows where they might go? Ultimately, if they make a change, then I feel like it should be someone who is already working well in the Premier League – if they can get them, that is.

“You can come in from abroad and have success, we’ve seen Arne Slot do it this season. However, I just think it is more practical to have a manager who knows what he’s coming up against straight away.

“I think one of Frank, Silva or Glasner will end up at Spurs.”

Murphy added: “Tottenham have tried so many different types of managers in the past.

“From experienced winners like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, to more pragmatic coaches like Nuno Espirito Santo, and then the complete opposite in Ange Postecoglou.

“It’s difficult to nail down what kind of manager they’ll go for next. You, of course, want a manager with a philosophy, but they also need to be adaptable.

“You want someone who’s experienced and knows how to win – there are a lot of boxes you want ticked.

“In the end, the only one who has actually brought silverware to the club is Ange, so there will be a good section of the fanbase who want the club to stick with him.

“The irony is, they won the Europa League final by being solid and pragmatic. He obviously knows how to win like that, as do the players, which makes you wonder why he doesn’t do that more often.”

Of those names mentioned, we understand Glasner has already been taken out of the running, with the Austrian intent on staying at FA Cup winners Crystal Palace after leading them into the Europa League.

However, sources have stated they do have a strong interest in Frank and we’ve been told the Brentford boss is open to the possibility of moving across London to Spurs should the opportunity arise.

Sources understand he is currently Levy’s top pick to succeed Postecoglou this summer.

Tottenham transfer latest: Mbeumo miss; Branthwaite interest;

Speculation had already suggested that Frank, were he to become Tottenham boss, would have looked to have made Bees forward Bryan Mbeumo his first signing.

However, despite links with the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle – both of whom can also offer Champions League football – the Cameroon international has now made it clear that he wants to join Manchester United this summer, with talks set to begin over a possible £60m switch to Old Trafford, as per David Ornstein.

Spurs also have an interest in signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, though as sources have explained to us, striking a deal will not be easy and the Lilywhites are currently behind London rivals Chelsea in the race, after we were told a hefty bid would soon be lodged.

Elsewhere, Spurs’ summer rebuild is already underway with five exits already confirmed at the club, while a £21m signing has also been made.

Ange Postecoglou sack: Thomas Frank ready to join Tottenham; Top transfer target revealed - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have held further talks with Thomas Frank and the Brentford manager is open to replacing Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, TEAMtalk understands.

The north London side are intensifying their search for a new manager as they prepare to make a pivotal decision regarding Postecoglou’s future, despite the Australian’s determination to remain at the helm.

TEAMtalk revealed on December 13 last year that Frank would be tempted by the opportunity to manage Tottenham if the opportunity came, and now we’re on the verge of that happening.

The 51-year-old Bees boss has long been on the mind of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and is now the number one candidate for the job, with more work done by Spurs last week to find out his plans for the future.

Frank has an £8m release clause in his contract with Brentford, which Tottenham would have to pay to appoint him this summer.

The Danish coach has earned widespread acclaim for his work at Brentford, guiding the Bees to Premier League stability and establishing a reputation for tactical acumen and progressive football.

His ability to maximize resources and develop young talent has caught the attention of the Tottenham hierarchy, who are seeking a manager to restore consistency and challenge for top honours.

Frank’s data-driven approach and knack for fostering team cohesion align with Tottenham’s ambitions to rebuild following a mixed campaign under Postecoglou.

Jarrad Branthwaite is on Thomas Frank’s radar – sources

Postecoglou, appointed in 2023, has faced scrutiny after inconsistent results, despite his commitment to an attacking philosophy.

While he retains some support from the fanbase, due to the Europa League triumph, the club’s terrible performance in the Premier League has not gone unnoticed by the board with sources stating it left them gravely concerned.

Frank, by contrast, represents a fresh option, with sources suggesting he is ready to embrace the challenge of managing a club of Spurs’ stature.

The coming weeks will be crucial as Tottenham weigh their options. A move for Frank would signal a bold shift and sources have also stated that Spurs know who he would want to bring in over the summer transfer window.

Interestingly, Spurs are keen on Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and he is a player that Frank is said to absolutely love, per sources.

Branthwaite could be a player to watch for Tottenham should they appoint Frank, but Everton’s £70m+ valuation makes things difficult.

Developments are expected in the coming days and the feeling remains that Postecoglou will be relieved of his duties.

Tottenham 'hold talks' with exciting manager target as Ange Postecoglou sack D-Day approaches - TEAMtalk
Description

Ange Postecoglou is increasingly likely to be sacked by Tottenham in the coming days and the club has held recent talks with a potential successor, per reports.

Postecoglou led Tottenham to winning their first major trophy in 17 years by lifting the Europa League, which grants them entry to next season’s Champions League.

However, a dismal Premier League campaign, which saw Tottenham finish 17th in the table – their worst season since 1976/77 – is still likely to result in Postecoglou getting axed.

According to journalist Santi Aouna, Tottenham have held talks with Brentford manager Thomas Frank ‘this week’ about replacing Postecoglou as manager of the London side.

“Understand Tottenham had direct contact with Thomas Frank this week,” Aouna posted on X.

“The Danish manager talked with Spurs about the project and some transfer targets for the summer.

“Tottenham are considering several candidates if Ange Postecoglou is sacked but Frank high on list.”

Thomas Frank among three Prem bosses liked by Tottenham

The Independent’s Miguel Delaney revealed this morning (June 1) that Postecoglou has ‘less than a 5% chance’ of keeping his job at Tottenham.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been left, unsurprisingly, unimpressed by the club’s performance in the Premier League, and the Europa League success won’t be enough to save him.

Tottenham’s links with Brentford boss Frank is nothing new, but the chances of him being appointed as their new coach grow more likely by the day.

TEAMtalk insider Fraser Fletcher exclusively revealed on December 13 last year that Frank would be interested in joining Spurs if the opportunity came, but he always intended to see out the 2024/25 season with Brentford.

Frank isn’t the only manager on Tottenham’s radar, however.

Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed in an exclusive report for TEAMtalk on April 15 that Fulham manager Marco Silva also has admirers at Tottenham.

Silva is understood to be firmly in the running. Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is also liked, but he may be more difficult to appoint after he signed a new contract with the Cherries last month.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will inevitably be linked with a return, but as Jacobs revealed for TEAMtalk on February 13, the coach is fully focused on his job with the United States and he is looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, so won’t leave that post before then.

Postecoglou sack: Tottenham Hotspur axe date set as Levy finalises three

Tottenham finalise three manager wishlist with Ange Postecoglou sack date set - TEAMtalk
Description

Ange Postecoglou will learn his fate as Tottenham Hotspur manager sometime this week, a strong new report has claimed, and with the Aussie given “less than a 5% chance” of keeping his job, new details have emerged on the coaches Daniel Levy will turn to next.

A somewhat bizarre season in N17 saw Spurs finish the Premier League campaign in a woeful 17th place – their lowest position since 1977 – but yet somehow still end their long-awaited trophy drought as they recorded victory in the Europa League. And while Postecoglou delivered on his ballsy promise that he ‘always wins a trophy in his second season’, it does not look enough to spare him from the Tottenham Hotspur axe.

Indeed, according to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney, it looks increasingly likely that Postecoglou will be given the boot.

In his ‘Reading the Game’ newsletter, he said: ‘As of Friday morning, Tottenham Hotspur still hadn’t made an official decision on Ange Postecoglou but the chances of staying had apparently gone down from last week’s ‘five per cent’. His departure is still expected, whenever that may be.’

While it was always felt that glory in the Europa League could save him, sources have always indicated to TEAMtalk that, irrespective of their success in Europe, Levy has been left unimpressed by their struggles in the Premier League this season and planned to judge him on those performances first and foremost.

Now, having taken that one step further, The Telegraph has revealed that a final verdict will arrive at some point next week. They describe the 59-year-old’s position to be ‘under extreme risk’, and claim Levy has been ‘looking at other managers’, as good as confirming that the writing is on the wall and with his fate set to be decided by the end of next week.

Furthermore, The Telegraph claims that with Andoni Iraola admired, but ‘set to stay at Bournemouth next season’ and with Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner also taken off the menu, Spurs’ focus is now down to two men: Fulham’s Marco Silva and Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

Sources can confirm to TEAMtalk that both those men are admired, with a particular fondness for Frank, who is highly-regarded by Levy and with an expectation being that the Dane is now ready to take his career to the next level with a move to a bigger club than the Bees.

But we can also confirm a third name is also in the running for Spurs, with our correspondent, Rudy Galetti, revealing Spurs are also considering appointing Francesco Farioli as their head coach at the end of the season.

Postecoglou sack? Aussie feels he’s done enough to keep Tottenham job

While Levy feels a change is needed to catapult Tottenham Hotspur back into the higher echelons of the Premier League and with question marks raised over his one-dimensional and, often high-risk tactics, Postecoglou himself certainly feels he has done enough to retain the manager’s role.

Speaking recently, he told the media: “I’ve been finding it really weird talking about my future when we’ve done something unprecedented.

“I’ve got to answer the questions because nobody else is in a position to do so. Part of me is thinking, ‘Why am I even being asked the question?’ I’ve got no doubt this could be a really defining moment for this club.”

The former Celtic boss added: “We won a trophy, which we haven’t done for 17 years, and we’re in the Champions League. Ask anyone at this football club at the start of the year if they’d take that and I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be a person in the house that wouldn’t.”

Despite that, there is a feeling within those in power at Tottenham that the Europa League success has not done enough to satisfy those doubts.

And according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, a parting of ways seems likely.

“I’ve gone backwards and forwards on this, but in the end – I’ve decided that he will go. I think they’ll look over the season, rather than just the easier European games,” he said to Football Insider.

“The thing that will do it for him is the inflexibility over the tactical changes. There were certain games that he could have got results out of, that he didn’t – because he was inflexible.

“The players he had due to injuries meant he should have played a more conservative system. I think that’s the conclusion Daniel Levy will come to, when he looks at it.

“However, it’s going to be a tight decision. There’s been a big emotional push towards Ange now, and he’s handled it very well since winning.”

Tottenham LEAPFROG Arsenal in race to sign 113-goal forward - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have leapt ahead of Arsenal and are now the most ‘serious candidate’ from the Premier League to sign a 113-goal forward whose future will be decided in a matter of days, according to reports.

The outlook for Tottenham’s summer transfer window would have looked completely different had they lost to Manchester United in the Europa League final. Victory not only ended their long wait for a major trophy, but also secured Champions League football for next season.

A by-product of that is Tottenham are now able to lock in close to £100m in extra revenue that participation in the UCL brings. They’ll stand a far better chance of retaining their in-demand stars – such as Cristian Romero – and will be looked upon more favourably by players they’re aiming to sign.

One player who fits that final billing is Leroy Sane who is also a wanted man at near neighbours Arsenal.

The transfer headlines at Arsenal right now are being dominated by their search for a new striker. However, bubbling under the surface is Arsenal’s attempts to sign a new winger too.

The Gunners did explore a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo before high salary demands put a move on ice. That put the spotlight back on Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao, but The Times insist that’s becoming a dead end due to costs too.

As such, the report claimed sporting director, Andrea Berta, had pivoted to Sane who is now Arsenal’s top target for the flanks.

The Bayern Munich ace, 29, has bagged 113 goals at club level through his spells with Schalke, Manchester City and Bayern.

He remains a potent and electric option out wide, though Bayern are struggling to tie the German down to a new contract.

Sane’s existing deal expires on June 30 and after lengthy negotiations, Sky Germany state Bayern have put forward a revised proposal that they hope will seal a deal.

However, a fresh update from reporter Santi Aouna claims it’s by no means certain Sane re-signs in Munich.

Furthermore Aouna revealed that from a Premier League perspective, Spurs have leapfrogged Arsenal and are now the ‘most serious’ option for Sane’s signature in England.

Taking to X, Aouna stated: “Tottenham most serious candidate from England for Leroy Sane right now.

“Bayern Munich have improved their offer but no decision yet.

“The player will have to choose between Bayern, England, Turkey and there is even interest from Saudi Arabia.”

The bid from Turkey comes via Galatasaray who have offered to pay Sane a net salary in excess of €10m per season.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, ‘a final decision [from Sane] is expected in the coming days’.

Tottenham most expensive transfers: Top 10 record signings - TEAMtalk
Description

Having ended a pretty disastrous season with Champions League qualification, after securing a first trophy win in 17 years, there is a strong chance that Tottenham will break their transfer record again this summer.

While doubts continue to surround the future of manager Ange Postecoglou, transfer plans are still starting to take shape as Spurs look to strengthen an injury-plagued squad that showed it was not capable of coping with the demands of domestic and European football this term.

The spine of the side is expected to be a particular focus as Tottenham look to bring in another centre-back, at least two new central midfielders and another striker to provide stronger competition for Dominic Solanke.

And top names like Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Xavi Simons are all prime targets to break the current record ahead of the first of two summer windows opening on June 1.

To that end, TEAMtalk have broken down Tottenham’s current top 10 list of record deals…

There was a strong feeling when Sissoko arrived in north London that he was brought on the basis of how brilliantly he used to perform seemingly every time he played against Tottenham.

Spurs beat Everton to Sissoko’s signature in 2016 but he never reached the heights many had hoped for, despite the odd barn-storming display.

He spent five years at Tottenham before eventually joining Watford and after a two-year stint back in his homeland is now back playing at Vicarage Road.

All the done deals by Premier League clubs in the summer 2025 transfer window

If his dodgy hamstrings stay intact there is doubt that the Dutchman could become a club legend in north London.

Van de Ven has speed to burn and a tremendous ability to read the game as well, while he also showcased in his first season with the club the ability to play as a marauding left-back.

All those expectations ended up being slightly tempered in his second season when the hamstring issues struck again, but Van de Ven once again showed his qualities on the biggest stage when his display in the Europa League final – including that incredible goal-line clearance – helped guide the club to their first trophy in 17 years.

Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood’s initial diagnosis after Porro’s first start for Tottenham in a 4-1 mauling at Leicester was that he was ‘so bad it’s unbelievable’. But the Spaniard has come a long way since then.

Porro had a slight dip in form this season after making big leaps in Postecoglou’s first season in charge, scoring four times and adding nine assists.

Barcelona have recently been linked with a move for the 25-year-old but he will almost certainly be Spurs’s starting right-back again when the 2025/26 campaign rolls around.

Another mixed bag of a season for the former Leicester City man, who has been in and out of the side but has once shown real flashes of his undoubted genius.

Maddison has scored 16 goals and provided 21 assists through his first 75 games for the club, figures that are not to be sniffed at. However, he’s often been the subject of fan and pundit criticism over his inconsistent performances.

The 28-year-old’s absence from the Europa League final was felt for a Tottenham side that lacked any real creativity despite the victory in Bilbao, and Maddison will be looking to start the new campaign fully fit and firing.

Sanchez was the club’s record signing when the arrived from Ajax back in 2017 but ultimately disappointed after spending six years in north London.

The Colombian actually started his career at Tottenham strongly as he played in the middle of a back three with the ever-reliable Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld either side of him.

However, he was not as comfortable in a four and often looked uncomfortable and clumsy in possession.

It was no great surprise when he left for Galatasaray in September 2023, although that should have probably come much sooner given his lack of playing time over the previous few campaigns.

Hard to imagine that Romero actually cost the same as Sanchez, given how their respective Tottenham careers have gone.

In truth, Romero has been somewhat of a disappointment with his performance levels this season, although he did show up when the club needed him most in the Europa League final – earning the Man of the Match award in the process.

However, he still craves a move to Spain and has consistently been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen whether securing Champions League football for next season will convince him to stay, although there are some Spurs fans out there who want Daniel Levy to cash in now while the player still has two years left on his contract.

After an up-and-down first season at Tottenham, Johnson made major leaps forward this season.

The Wales international finished as the club’s top scorer with 18 goals, while also laying on seven assists in 51 appearances in all competitions.

There are elements of his all-round game that need to improve but Johnson is starting to show why the club forked out big money for his services in the first place.

The Brazilian continues to frustrate in north London, enduring another campaign of niggling injury absences that saw him score just five goals this season.

Richarlison actually showed some improvement during the 2023/24 campaign but the arrival of Dominic Solanke saw him largely relegated to bench duty again – when he was actually fit.

He did feature more towards the end of the season playing on the left-wing but continues to be the subject of interest from top clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Three words: Waste of money. Another three: Waste of talent.

Ndombele looked a rare talent when arrived in a huge deal by Tottenham standards back in 2019 after the disappointment of the Champions League final loss to Liverpool.

In total he made just 91 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and was loaned out to Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old is now back in his homeland at Nice, after being released from his Tottenham contract with one year left remaining, and scored two goals with two assists this season.

Solanke became the club’s record capture last summer after previously excelling down on the south coast with Bournemouth.

The England forward had a mixed bag of a first season with the club that included four niggling injuries that cost him some game time.

The 27-year-old still managed to chalk up 16 goals and eight assists in 45 games, including nine G/A in the club’s Europa League success.

Solanke’s all-round game also impressed in what ended up being a taster of what he could bring to the side if he can stay fully fit for seasons ahead.
