Tottenham most expensive transfers: Top 10 record signings - TEAMtalk
Description

Having ended a pretty disastrous season with Champions League qualification, after securing a first trophy win in 17 years, there is a strong chance that Tottenham will break their transfer record again this summer.

While doubts continue to surround the future of manager Ange Postecoglou, transfer plans are still starting to take shape as Spurs look to strengthen an injury-plagued squad that showed it was not capable of coping with the demands of domestic and European football this term.

The spine of the side is expected to be a particular focus as Tottenham look to bring in another centre-back, at least two new central midfielders and another striker to provide stronger competition for Dominic Solanke.

And top names like Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi and Xavi Simons are all prime targets to break the current record ahead of the first of two summer windows opening on June 1.

To that end, TEAMtalk have broken down Tottenham’s current top 10 list of record deals…

There was a strong feeling when Sissoko arrived in north London that he was brought on the basis of how brilliantly he used to perform seemingly every time he played against Tottenham.

Spurs beat Everton to Sissoko’s signature in 2016 but he never reached the heights many had hoped for, despite the odd barn-storming display.

He spent five years at Tottenham before eventually joining Watford and after a two-year stint back in his homeland is now back playing at Vicarage Road.

All the done deals by Premier League clubs in the summer 2025 transfer window

If his dodgy hamstrings stay intact there is doubt that the Dutchman could become a club legend in north London.

Van de Ven has speed to burn and a tremendous ability to read the game as well, while he also showcased in his first season with the club the ability to play as a marauding left-back.

All those expectations ended up being slightly tempered in his second season when the hamstring issues struck again, but Van de Ven once again showed his qualities on the biggest stage when his display in the Europa League final – including that incredible goal-line clearance – helped guide the club to their first trophy in 17 years.

Former Spurs boss Tim Sherwood’s initial diagnosis after Porro’s first start for Tottenham in a 4-1 mauling at Leicester was that he was ‘so bad it’s unbelievable’. But the Spaniard has come a long way since then.

Porro had a slight dip in form this season after making big leaps in Postecoglou’s first season in charge, scoring four times and adding nine assists.

Barcelona have recently been linked with a move for the 25-year-old but he will almost certainly be Spurs’s starting right-back again when the 2025/26 campaign rolls around.

Another mixed bag of a season for the former Leicester City man, who has been in and out of the side but has once shown real flashes of his undoubted genius.

Maddison has scored 16 goals and provided 21 assists through his first 75 games for the club, figures that are not to be sniffed at. However, he’s often been the subject of fan and pundit criticism over his inconsistent performances.

The 28-year-old’s absence from the Europa League final was felt for a Tottenham side that lacked any real creativity despite the victory in Bilbao, and Maddison will be looking to start the new campaign fully fit and firing.

Sanchez was the club’s record signing when the arrived from Ajax back in 2017 but ultimately disappointed after spending six years in north London.

The Colombian actually started his career at Tottenham strongly as he played in the middle of a back three with the ever-reliable Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld either side of him.

However, he was not as comfortable in a four and often looked uncomfortable and clumsy in possession.

It was no great surprise when he left for Galatasaray in September 2023, although that should have probably come much sooner given his lack of playing time over the previous few campaigns.

Hard to imagine that Romero actually cost the same as Sanchez, given how their respective Tottenham careers have gone.

In truth, Romero has been somewhat of a disappointment with his performance levels this season, although he did show up when the club needed him most in the Europa League final – earning the Man of the Match award in the process.

However, he still craves a move to Spain and has consistently been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

It remains to be seen whether securing Champions League football for next season will convince him to stay, although there are some Spurs fans out there who want Daniel Levy to cash in now while the player still has two years left on his contract.

After an up-and-down first season at Tottenham, Johnson made major leaps forward this season.

The Wales international finished as the club’s top scorer with 18 goals, while also laying on seven assists in 51 appearances in all competitions.

There are elements of his all-round game that need to improve but Johnson is starting to show why the club forked out big money for his services in the first place.

The Brazilian continues to frustrate in north London, enduring another campaign of niggling injury absences that saw him score just five goals this season.

Richarlison actually showed some improvement during the 2023/24 campaign but the arrival of Dominic Solanke saw him largely relegated to bench duty again – when he was actually fit.

He did feature more towards the end of the season playing on the left-wing but continues to be the subject of interest from top clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Three words: Waste of money. Another three: Waste of talent.

Ndombele looked a rare talent when arrived in a huge deal by Tottenham standards back in 2019 after the disappointment of the Champions League final loss to Liverpool.

In total he made just 91 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals and was loaned out to Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray.

The 27-year-old is now back in his homeland at Nice, after being released from his Tottenham contract with one year left remaining, and scored two goals with two assists this season.

Solanke became the club’s record capture last summer after previously excelling down on the south coast with Bournemouth.

The England forward had a mixed bag of a first season with the club that included four niggling injuries that cost him some game time.

The 27-year-old still managed to chalk up 16 goals and eight assists in 45 games, including nine G/A in the club’s Europa League success.

Solanke’s all-round game also impressed in what ended up being a taster of what he could bring to the side if he can stay fully fit for seasons ahead.

Tottenham complete £21m signing and announce FIVE exits including £17m sale

Description

Tottenham’s summer transfer window is now in full flow with a £21m defender signing completed and five exits – including a £17m sale – announced.

Victory in the Europa League final not only ended Spurs’ long wait for a major trophy, but also secured Champions League football. The presence of UCL football next season will help the club to attract star players and also raise Spurs’ chances of retaining their biggest names.

Tottenham fans can now enter the summer window with excitement instead of trepidation. But before the real fun begins, a series of deals and moves involving players with obligations in their loan deals or expiring contracts have been ironed out.

Firstly, Tottenham have completed the permanent acquisition of loanee, Kevin Danso.

Spurs moved to sign the Austrian centre-back in January at a time when their injury crisis was at its peak. Danso provided valuable cover for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven and the obligation in his loan agreement has been triggered.

That news was confirmed by both Fabrizio Romano and the BBC. French side Lens will now receive €25m / £21m from Danso’s sale.

Much of that cost for Tottenham will be offset through the permanent sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The Denmark international spent the 2024/25 campaign loaned to Marseille who have turned the move permanent.

A statement on Spurs’ official website read: ‘Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s loan to Marseille will become a permanent transfer this summer.’ Tottenham will receive £17m for the 29-year-old.

Elsewhere, Spurs officially confirmed the departures of four more first-team players – Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon, Alfie Whiteman and Timo Werner.

Forster’s usefulness to Spurs diminished after the club signed back-up stopper, Antonin Kinsky, in January.

Forster, Reguilon and Whiteman will now depart the club via free agency after their contracts were allowed to run down.

Werner, meanwhile, will return to RB Leipzig following a not-so-successful second loan spell in north London.

Tottenham had the chance to activate an option to buy the forward for just £8.5m. But with Werner making a negligible impact in the 2024/25 season, Spurs have passed on that opportunity.

Tottenham in race against time to sign England star as Crystal Palace open talks - sources - TEAMtalk
Description

Crystal Palace are in talks with attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze over a new contract as they look to stave off interest from Tottenham and five other top clubs, TEAMtalk understands.

The 26-year-old England international has enjoyed another impressive season for the Eagles and scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City – the club’s first major trophy win in their history.

Eze notched an impressive 14 goals and 11 assists in total across all competitions this term, and that has only increased the interest in him as we head into the transfer window.

However, Palace won’t let him go without a fight. TEAMtalk sources have confirmed that the club have initiated contract talks with Eze and is pushing to seal an agreement on a new deal.

Eze’s current deal, which runs until June 2027, includes a £68m release clause set to activate this summer but expires around mid-August, just two weeks before the transfer window closes.

The push to agree new terms comes as no surprise. The club’s Europa League qualification via winning the FA Cup has bolstered Palace’s ambition and chairman Steve Parish is determined to keep Eze.

Tottenham haven’t given up on Eze yet, while there is also interest from four other Premier League sides and one European giant…

Tottenham consider swap deal for Eberechi Eze – sources

TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham are prepared to trigger Eze’s £68m release clause, or propose a player-plus-cash deal – hence why Palace want an agreement quickly.

Manchester United continue to monitor the situation, while Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Bayern Munich are also in the mix, the latter seeing Eze as an alternative to Florian Wirtz.

Despite the swirling interest, Eze remains content at Selhurst Park, where he has flourished since his 2020 move from Queens Park Rangers.

Sources close to the player emphasize his gratitude to Palace and his reluctance to force a move, though he is open to competing at the highest level, driven by ambitions of trophies and a prominent role for England at the 2026 World Cup.

Eze’s impressive has only heightened his appeal, with his versatility and playmaking ability drawing serious interest from clubs who are keen to add creativity into their side.

As the transfer window approaches, Palace face an important few months, they need to try and hold onto their key men as well as strengthen their side for campaign that includes European football. The likes of Adam Wharton and Jean Phillipe Mateta are also being looked at by elite sides.

Tottenham midfield revamp takes huge step forward as Levy green lights two major deals - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on an impressive double midfield deal as the club push for a significant revamp of their engine room this summer, while hopes of a third signing have also improved.

While doubts continue to surround the future of Ange Postecoglou in north London – despite the club winning their first trophy in 17 years under the Australian – transfer plans are still pushing forward.

Playmaking-wise Tottenham are in good hands with the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Lucas Bergvall all able to play as a No.10 but they remain without any bite in a midfield that has failed to protect an unstable defence all season long.

Yves Bissouma, who is considered as the club’s best defensive midfield pivot, is expected to be sold this summer after failing to reach anything like the heights he did during his impressive spell at Brighton. Speculation also continues surrounding Rodrigo Bentancur’s future in north London, with Atletico Madrid known to be massive admirers of the Uruguay star.

To that end, a fresh report from GiveMeSport transfer insider Dean Jones, via Patreon, states that Daniel Levy is pushing to bring in two new midfielders over the coming weeks in the form of Johnny Cardoso and Angel Gomes.

USA international Cardoso is poised to arrive in a £21million deal from Real Betis after an agreement was struck last summer following Giovani Lo Celso’s return to the LaLiga club.

Fresh from the Europa Conference League final defeat to Chelsea, Cardoso will give Tottenham’s midfield the grit they have been striving for since Postecoglou’s arrival.

Gomes, meanwhile, will walk away from Lille on a free transfer this summer and Spurs have been pushing for his signing for some time – along with his former club Manchester United.

The England international has struggled for consistency in France this season after enduring a number of injury issues, having notched eight assists the previous campaign to showcase his talents.

Adding both players to the Tottenham midfield mix would certainly give whoever is manager next season better options to pick from as Spurs look to bounce back from a disastrous domestic campaign that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League.

Tel drops hint over Tottenham future

Meanwhile, the report adds that Tottenham are still pursuing a deal for current loanee Mathys Tel and hope to get a transfer wrapped up soon.

The French forward arrived on loan in January and while he largely struggled to make a mark in north London, Tel clearly did enough to warrant Spurs trying to negotiate a cut-price permanent deal rather than the agreed £45.7million option that has been on the table.

And speaking after the season finale against Brighton, the Bayern Munich attacker dropped a clear hint that he could be lining up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again next term.

Talking to Spurs’ in-house media team, Tel said: “Tottenham is a big family with the fans, with everybody else.

“Tottenham is not just a club, it is everything for us. We have to keep going and win more trophies.”

Tel only scored three goals and provided just one assist during his time with the club, but there is a growing feeling that if Tottenham can negotiate a lower asking price for the player then they will try get a deal over the line.

Tottenham transfer news: Green light to complete £55m winger signing - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham can complete the signing of an electric winger for £55m, which is roughly £20m higher than their opening bid, according to reports.

Spurs salvaged what was shaping up to be one of the worst seasons in the club’s history. Tottenham did finish just one place above the relegation zone in 17th, though lifted their first major trophy since 2008.

Winning the Europa League not only snapped that streak, but also secured entry into next year’s Champions League.

Achieving that feat will not only strengthen Tottenham’s chances of retaining their in-demand stars – such as Cristian Romero – but will also boost their spending power and appeal in the transfer market this summer.

One player Tottenham have long since had their sights on is Southampton winger, Tyler Dibling.

The 19-year-old left footer was the brightest spark in what was otherwise a season of doom and gloom for the Saints.

Spurs attempted to prise Dibling away from the south coast in January, with the BBC revealing a £35m bid had been tabled. RB Leipzig too tried their luck with a £30m bid, with both offers swiftly rejected.

Southampton subsequently raised eyebrows when slapping a monstrous £100m asking price on Dibling. But after suffering relegation to the Championship, Sky Sports now report a deal can be struck for £55m.

What’s more, the report also claimed Southampton are well aware they’ll have to cash in on their brightest and best stars and Dibling is top of the billing in that regard.

In a section focussing on Dibling the report read: ‘Southampton know they will have to sell their most promising young talent, who is entering the final year of his deal.’

‘Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham and RB Leipzig have monitored him. The winger is expected to be in high demand this summer with a valuation of around £55m.’

Tyler Dibling to Tottenham latest

Sky’s report suggests Spurs face healthy competition in the race for Dibling. However, a prior report from GiveMeSport claimed Tottenham are frontrunners and that was before they won the Europa League.

GMS also stated Spurs believe a deal can be made with Southampton for a fee in the £40m-£45m range.

As such, we may see Tottenham up the ante from their £35m bid placed in January, but still drop short of Southampton’s target valuation.

Whether the Saints hold out for £55m will depend on how quickly they aim to sell and who else bids.

Furthermore, there is some confusion regarding how long Dibling has remaining on his contract with the Saints.

While some reports including Sky’s have stated he’s about to enter the final year of his deal, others have claimed the terms run until 2027.

If it’s the former and Dibling’s deal expires one year from now, Southampton will struggle to drive up the price for a player 12 months away from free agency.

A Spurs move for Dibling would coincide with the club’s aim to hoover up rising young talent who despite their young ages, can make an instant impact.

Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are prime examples of Tottenham’s strategy in that regard paying early dividends.

Tottenham transfer news: Levy offered chance to hijack Arsenal signing of elite Bundesliga forward

Tottenham given green light for massive Bundesliga transfer coup but still face Arsenal threat - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane, who remains a long-term Arsenal target, on a free transfer this summer.

The 29-year-old winger will become a free agent when his contract with the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions expires at the end of next month.

Bayern have been unable to agree a new contract with Sane, who has been offered a new three-year deal on a reduced salary having recently appointed super-agent Pini Zahavi to act on his behalf.

Sane has plenty of previous experience of playing in the Premier League, having recorded an impressive 83 goal contributions in 139 games for Manchester City, winning two Premier League titles during his time at The Etihad.

Sky Sports reports that North London rivals Spurs and Arsenal have both now been contacted regarding a move for the Germany international, with the Gunners having been admirers for some time due to the wide man playing under Mikel Arteta during his stint as Pep Guardiola’s assistant in Manchester.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich actually have a strong working relationship, with Spurs having allowed both Harry Kane and Eric Dier to move to Bavaria back in the summer of 2023 – although in fairness Dier was a free agent and could have gone where he wanted.

Sane still has plenty to offer despite the fact he is approaching his 30s, having scored 13 goals and laid on six assists in 45 games for Bayern this season.

His ability to play on either flank also makes the German an attractive proposition for a Tottenham side who are on the hunt for fresh attacking talent this summer.

Sane salary could present a problem for Tottenham

The addition of Sane on a free transfer for Tottenham would no doubt be a real coup for the club ahead of their return to the Champions League.

However, the player’s salary demands will almost certainly cause issues for a club who do not traditionally pay out large amounts even for their top players.

Skipper Son Heung-min is the highest earner at £190,000-a-week, with James Maddison and Cristian Romero following close behind the South Korean.

Bayern’s last base salary offer to Sane was for around £160,000-a-week, a figure that did not include bonuses. While that fee could be manageable for Tottenham, Sane’s age will almost certainly be factored into any decision.

There remains the possibility that Romero’s salary could come off the books if a proposed move to Spain transpires, while a return to Europe’s elite cup competition has given the club a projected £100m boost.

Much will now depend on what the player himself decides, although Spurs will almost certainly be concerned by Arteta’s links with the winger and the potential that Sane could easily be persuaded to move to the red half of north London instead.

Ironically, if he does join Spurs one of Sane’s first games for his new club could come against Bayern at the Allianz Arena in August when the two clubs are due to face off in a friendly clash ahead of the new season.

Tottenham explode into race for lightning-fast 23-G/A forward who ticks two big boxes - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have reportedly rekindled their interest in Nice forward Evann Guessand after failing in their efforts to land the pacy attacker in the January transfer window.

With injuries plaguing Ange Postecoglou’s squad at the turn of the year, Spurs were in the market for another player to boost their frontline and eventually ended up getting Bayern Munich star Mathys Tel on loan after initial reluctance from the Frenchman to head to north London.

Barring a significant drop in Bayern’s asking price, Tottenham are unlikely to land Tel on a permanent deal after the attacker failed to truly showcase his talents during his loan stint. To that end, the need for a new forward remains, especially one that can play centrally or out wide – two boxes that Guessand ticks.

The 23-year-old was on the club’s radar in January, along with the likes of Randal Kolo Muani and Jonathan David at the time, but ended up remaining at Nice.

His overall record this season was an impression one, recording 13 goals and 10 assists in 42 games in all competitions, although the majority of his appearances came on the right wing.

Guessand did play through the middle on 13 occasions, and also lined up on the left six times to showcase his versatility which – for the money Nice are asking for his services – is right up chairman Daniel Levy’s street.

Indeed, the French outfit are asking for just €28m (£24m) to part company with their top scorer this summer in a deal that could represent tremendous value – and French outlet Fraternité Matins states that Levy has made his move.

The Ivory Coast international, who is keen on a new adventure, is described as “tall, strong, technical and extremely fast” and would arguably be a tremendous asset for whoever is leading Tottenham next season, whether that is Ange Postecoglou or not.

DON’T MISS ➡️ Tottenham wages: Top 10 highest-paid players; elite star can’t crack top three

Tottenham in need of genuine Solanke competition

With Brazilian flop Richarlison almost certain to be sold this summer, amid continued links to clubs in the Saudi Pro League, the need to sign another centre-forward to keep Dominic Solanke honest is paramount for Tottenham.

The club’s record signing had a decent first campaign in north London, scoring 16 goals and adding eight assists in 45 appearances despite being hampered by a number of nagging injury issues throughout the season.

Solanke’s all-round play was better than his stats suggested but there is a feeling that more is needed from a Spurs forward line whose top scorer was Brennan Johnson with 18 this term.

Guessand would arguably be a like-for-like swap for Richarlison is he does make a move to the capital, given his ability to line up wide or centrally.

His electric pace would certainly be a big asset to the team, especially with Son Heung-min seemingly losing a yard this season, while Johnson – despite his fine campaign – is often reluctant to take his full-back on.

With Champions League football secured for next season, Levy and Tottenham will certainly be looking to make some headlines this summer as they aim to improve a squad that woefully underperformed domestically this season.

Tottenham plan shock ‘attractive’ bid for Chelsea forward – report - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are planning a bid to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, according to a shock report, as TEAMTalk reveals why such a transfer is extremely unlikely to happen.

Chelsea and Tottenham are ambitious Premier League clubs, and both will play in the Champions League next season. While the Blues qualified for Europe’s premier club competition after finishing fourth in the Premier League table, Spurs booked their place after winning the Europa League.

Like all clubs, Spurs will make signings in the summer transfer window, and one of the players they have been linked with is Chelsea forward Nkunku.

Nkunku has been at Chelsea since 2023 and has not been able to make a huge impact.

Under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca this season, the French forward made only nine starts in the Premier League.

Maresca has used Nkunku predominantly as a centre-forward this season, and the 27-year-old has not been particularly impressive.

However, according to Fichajes, Tottenham have taken a shine to Nkunku and are planning a shock raid on Chelsea for him.

Spurs are ‘willing to negotiate an initial loan, with a €45million (£38m, $51m) option to buy’ Nkunku.

The report has added that ‘this proposal could be attractive to Chelsea, who are looking to offload a player who hasn’t had the expected impact this season and at the same time recoup some of their investment’.

DON’T MISS 🌐 Tottenham wages: Top 10 highest-paid players; elite star can’t crack top three

Why Nkunku from Chelsea to Tottenham is very unlikely

Fichajes is not one of the most reliable sources, and the report that Tottenham are planning to raid Chelsea for Nkunku has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Tottenham and Chelsea are bitter London rivals, and no transfers of senior players have taken place between these two Premier League clubs since January 2009 when Carlo Cudicini left the Blues for Spurs on a free transfer.

Nkunku has not had the best of times at Chelsea, and Tottenham are unlikely to be too eager to make such a signing that they do not need.

The Frenchman is at his best as a number 10, but England international playmaker Cole Palmer plays in that role at Chelsea.

James Maddison is a natural number 10, while his Tottenham team-mate Dejan Kulusevski is also able to operate in that role while being adept at playing out wide, too.

Moreover, Chelsea have placed a huge price-tag on the Frenchman.

TEAMtalk’s Italian correspondent, Rudy Galetti, reported on May 23 that Chelsea have told Juventus to pay €70million (£59m, $79m) for Nkunku.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that Juventus have already made contact with Chelsea over a summer deal for the forward.

TEAMtalk understands that Newcastle United also hold an interest in the 27-year-old.

Bayern Munich also admire Nkunku and have looked into a possible deal for the Chelsea player.

With so much interest in Nkunku, Chelsea are unlikely to even consider Tottenham’s offer to sign him on loan for next season even an option to make it permanent.

Tottenham barge their way to front of the queue for jaw-dropping €80m signing - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are expected to ramp up their transfer business following their qualification for next season’s Champions League, and it appears that a move for a top playmaker could be closer to happening.

The north London outfit could bank in excess of £100million after securing Europa League glory last week and securing their place at the top table of European football for next season.

Tottenham fans will certainly be hoping that most of that figure is reinvested in the squad, even if it remains unclear who will be in charge of the club for the 2025/26 campaign.

Despite the doubts over Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future, fresh additions are still being lined up ahead of Fabio Paratici’s return to the club as sporting director and one such target is RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

A report from Spanish outlet Fichajes suggests that Tottenham are the firm favourites to sign the Netherlands international, especially after Leipzig failed to quality for Europe themselves this season.

Simons will be allowed to leave if his €80m (£68m) release clause is met, while the road has cleared for a Spurs move after Liverpool switched their focus from the Leipzig star to Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz instead.

Described as a “superstar” in the making by former TEAMtalk feature writer Ben Mattinson, Simons left Paris Saint-Germain to make his name at Leipzig back in the summer of 2023, playing the coming campaign as a loanee before signing permanently in a €50m (£42m) deal.

Alternating between central attacking midfield and playing out wide, he has notched 44 goal contributions from 76 matches in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

Simons certainly has the quality to make a big mark on the Tottenham squad, whoever is managing the club next season, but there is one major question mark over the potential signing.

DON’T MISS – Tottenham wages: Top 10 highest-paid players; elite star can’t crack top three

Xavi Simons a luxury signing Tottenham do not need

While there can be no doubting that Simons is a quality performer and would do well in north London if he made the move, there are other areas of the Tottenham squad that are in greater need of upgrades.

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusesvki already alternate in the No.10 role for Spurs and that is unlikely to change going forward after Champions League qualification.

There was talk that both players could move on this summer before that massive Europa League triumph, but the injured pair will now put all their focus on getting fit again ahead of the new campaign.

In terms of positions where Spurs need to make improvements, the addition of at least one new centre-back, potentially two new central midfielders and another striker remain the priorities.

Cristian Romero, who will miss the final game of the season against Brighton with a toe injury, continues to be heavily linked with a move to Spain – a move that would leave a big hole to fill regardless of his inconsistent performances this term.

Yves Bissouma is also expected to be sold, with a deal already in the pipeline for Real Betis star Johnny Cardoso to replace the Mali international as Tottenham’s new defensive midfielder.

In terms of a new central striker addition, the club want stronger competition for Dominic Solanke as they also prepare to offload Brazilian flop Richarlison.

One thing is for sure, it will be a busy summer in north London as the club make a decision on Postecoglou’s future ahead of building a squad capable of coping with the demands of top-level European football as well as domestically – something they struggled massively with this season.

Ange Postecoglou to 'walk away' from Tottenham as 'talks' take place to appoint Prem boss - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham’s victory in the Europa League final over Manchester United might not be enough to save Ange Postecoglou, with reports suggesting that their players ‘expect’ him to be relieved of his duties.

Winning the Europa League has granted Spurs qualification to the Champions League next season and Postecoglou must take credit for guiding the team to their first major trophy in 17 years.

However, the London side’s Premier League season has been nothing short of embarrassing for a club of their stature. Tottenham currently sit 17th, on track for their worst campaign since 1974/75.

According to The Daily Mail, Spurs’ players do not expect Ange Postecoglou to be their head coach next season despite achieving a historic Europa League triumph.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is said to have already begun exploring potential replacements, ‘including Fulham boss Marco Silva’ – although TEAMtalk understands that another Premier League manager stands a good chance of landing the role.

“Should Levy stick to his guns, Postecoglou will walk away from North London having maintained his record of lifting silverware in his second season at multiple clubs,” the report adds.

“The former Celtic boss could represent an attractive option for top clubs, and it’s currently under wraps whether he would eye a break if he does depart.”

Tottenham ‘discuss’ appointing Prem boss

Amid the ongoing speculation surrounding Postecoglou, journalist Santi Aouna has claimed that ‘internal talks’ have taken place at Tottenham over appointing Brentford’s Thomas Frank as his replacement.

“Tottenham have discussed about Thomas Frank among new manager candidates in case of Spurs sack Ange Postecoglou,” Aouna posted on X.

“Internal talks took place about several options.”

TEAMtalk insider Fraser Fletcher revealed back in December that Tottenham had shortlisted Frank as a potential Postecoglou successor.

In Fletcher’s latest update on Frank on April 16, he shared that sources have informed him that the Brentford head coach could be ready to take on a new challenge next season.

Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola has also been looked at by Spurs but the Spaniard looks set to stay with the Cherries for at least another season after penning a new contract this month.

Frank, along with Fulham’s Silva, will be firmly in the frame should Tottenham decide to part ways with Postecoglou, despite their Europa League victory.
