Tottenham in contact to land Euro giant striker as prospective move falters - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have reportedly made contact with a European giant to land their striker as Fabrizio Romano has confirmed ‘serious interest’ but that move will have to be in line with the selling side’s demands.

Spurs have seen some big changes in the final third this summer already. The sale of Son Heung-min and the long-term injury sustained by James Maddison are the main ones.

They have added Mohammed Kudus to their attack, but have been on the hunt for a new striker, too.

The latest man Tottenham have begun a hunt for is Randal Kolo Muani. The Paris Saint-Germain striker spent the second half of last season on loan with Juventus, where he was directly involved in 13 goals.

He’d like to return there, but the Serie A side have made slow progress, and according to transfer insider Romano, Spurs have ‘serious interest’ in Kolo Muani and have made contact to explore a deal for him.

They are informed on the striker’s availability, but a transfer will depend on the fee, as if Kolo Muani is to be loaned, PSG want a guaranteed obligation inserted into the deal.

Tottenham courting more attackers

TEAMtalk have revealed interest in Kolo Muani alongside the pursuit of Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

Sources told insider Dean Jones that Tottenham have been given positive signs in regards to the potential snare of Lookman.

However, they have not yet committed to the chase as they might rather sign an out-and-out striker than someone like Lookman, who’s primarily a wide man who can play up top.

The fee for Lookman would be just over £43million, while it seems Kolo Muani would have to cost more than that, as Juventus tried to make their obligation to buy him the same fee and were turned down by PSG.

Tottenham round-up: Rogers unavailable

Tottenham have been linked with Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers of late, but TEAMtalk is aware that the Villans feel they’ve successfully deterred clubs from landing him.

That is one of the reasons Lookman has been courted by the north London club.

Meanwhile, after Yves Bissouma’s move to Galatasaray fell through, Tottenham insider John Wenham suggested it could be revived.

He referred to it as the “perfect move” for the midfielder, who’ll struggle for minutes if he remains in north London.

Description

Aston Villa feel they have successfully deterred rival clubs including Tottenham Hotspur from making a late bid for star player Morgan Rogers, sources have revealed to TEAMtalk.

Tottenham were strongly considering making a move for the 23-year-old, who has also been admired by Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks. But Villa’s refusal to show any flexibility on their £80million-plus valuation has forced Spurs into second thoughts over whether to formalise their interest.

Instead, Tottenham switched focus last night amid a potential move for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who is keen on returning to the Premier League.

Spurs are pondering an offer but have not committed while they also weigh up other ideas for the attack.

Spurs have been given the green light to sign Lookman by Atalanta, while sources have confirmed the two other forwards they are considering.

Villa’s stance on Rogers has been unrelenting all summer. Sources have informed TEAMtalk that the Midlands club always believed their determination would ultimately put off suitors, and there is now a feeling internally that they have held firm enough to keep the forward.

Rogers is viewed as a cornerstone of Villa’s project, with market projections placing his value between £80-100m.

While the club were wary of one final test of their resolve in the closing hours of the window, the expectation is now that he will remain at Villa Park beyond deadline day.

Villa are protected by Rogers’ contract, which runs for another five years.

Clubs forced to move on from Morgan Rogers

Chelsea have long been fans of the six-cap England international but have since signed Joao Pedro and agreed a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion for Facundo Buonanotte instead.

Spurs have already brought in Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, beating Chelsea to his capture, while Arsenal won the race for Eberechi Eze.

Villa believe they will be successful in keeping Rogers, but the future of goalkeeper Emi Martinez is very uncertain.

Martinez has agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is keen to become their new No 1.

United are in active talks for both the Argentine World Cup winner and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens.

United’s potential signing of Martinez is separate to Jadon Sancho, who is poised to join Villa on a season-long loan.

Tottenham transfer news: Frank gets Ademola Lookman greenlight - but two other targets also wanted - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham have been given positive signs that Ademola Lookman will be available to them today if they are willing to commit to a permanent deal.

But sources claim Spurs have not yet committed to moving forward with the deal as they also contemplate signing a different type of attacker instead.

We revealed on Sunday how Spurs wanted a quick understanding of where they would stand in a pursuit of Lookman.

They got that speedy response, yet are still not sure whether they will put their foot down on the deal for Lookman, or wait to see what else opens up.

They have an interest in Yoane Wissa, while his Brentford situation is still unresolved, and also have an eye on Randal Kolo Muani’s situation as he struggles to complete a move to Juventus.

Both players could become options in the coming hours, while Spurs also have put the feelers out to explore any new opportunities on the market this morning.

It has been expected that Spurs would sign a creative or wide player to complement the recent addition of Xavi Simons, but it could yet be that they decide to sign someone that can add depth in the central position of their front line.

We understand Atalanta are seeking a fee in the region of €50m (£43.4m, $58.7m) for the former Everton and Fulham winger, who has enjoyed a fine stint in Italy with the Bergamo side.

Description

Tottenham have made new contact as they explore the potential to sign Ademola Lookman, and TEAMtalk has been informed Spurs want an answer by midnight tonight.

Tottenham remain determined to add one more explosive option to their forward line following the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Lookman, 27, is desperate to leave Atalanta and saw a move to Inter Milan earlier this summer fall through.

His continued availability on the market has captured Tottenham’s attention at a time when other targets have been difficult to lure away this late in the window.

TEAMtalk understands that while initial explorations around the terms and conditions of a transfer were made last week, Spurs have now revisited Atalanta to discuss more details.

Sources say they have a list of seven names they are willing to pivot between as they insist on adding one more attacking figure to the front line before Monday evening’s 7pm deadline.

Savinho has been desperate to secure a move and has been the top target but Lookman is among the names they have begun to seriously consider.

As we have reported, Lucas Paqueta and Morgan Rogers are also among the names of interest.

Competition for West Ham’s Paqueta is coming by way of Aston Villa, though Paqueta strongly suggested he’s staying put when celebrating his goal in West Ham’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Spurs want to know by tonight whether the Lookman deal is one that can progress or if they remove him from the search.

However, Tottenham don’t have a deal all to themselves, with David Ornstein bringing news of Bayern Munich entering the frame with force on Sunday afternoon.

Bayern have proposed an initial loan for a ‘sizeable’ fee plus an option to buy at a ‘significant’ price.

Encouragingly for Spurs, a subsequent update from Fabrizio Romano insisted Atalanta don’t favour the type of deal Bayern have put forward.

“Atalanta maintain their position for Ademola Lookman: no intention to let the player leave on loan with buy option,” wrote Romano.

“Bayern, Tottenham, Italian clubs are all informed on permanent deal proposal needed or guaranteed obligation to buy.”

Reports earlier this summer pointed to a €50m valuation of Lookman when Atalanta were negotiating with Inter.

Lookman has often played in an advanced central role of late for Atalanta, though with Simons signing, he’d be expected to line up on the wings if moving to north London.

Tottenham to follow up Simons deal with second raid on Leipzig for explosive forward - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made enquiries over potentially raiding RB Leipzig for another attacking star, having only just announced the capture of Xavi Simons from the Bundesliga outfit.

Netherlands star Simons was announced as a Spurs player on Friday and introduced to the fans on Saturday after completing a £51.8million switch, despite being linked with Chelsea for much of the summer.

He is expected to be Thomas Frank’s new No.10 after a devastating ACL injury ruled James Maddison out for what is likely to be the whole season, while Dejan Kulusevski is also currently sidelined with a knee problem that may not see him return for Tottenham until the new year.

While Simons has the versatility to play either centrally or wide on the left, Frank sees the 22-year-old playing behind the striker and is still looking to fill the void left by Son Heung-min’s exit before Monday’s deadline.

Hopes of signing Savinho from Manchester City continue to fluctuate, although it looks increasingly unlikely that the Brazilian will remain at The Etihad.

Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo was outstanding in front of Frank as the Cherries completely outplayed Tottenham to record a fine Premier League win in north London on Saturday. However, having already sold a number of their top stars this summer, the chances of the Cherries agreeing to another major sale with so little time left in the window are probably slim and none.

To that end, a fresh report from Football Norge states that Spurs ‘enquired’ about also signing explosive winger Antonio Nusa when they made their move for Simons.

The exciting 20-year-old talent only joined Leipzig last summer for £24million from Club Brugge and enjoyed a strong debut season, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 40 games in all competitions.

Nusa is also a natural left winger and would immediately challenge Brennan Johnson for that role under Frank, with the Wales international continuing to be a goal threat for Tottenham but providing very little else in games.

As for Simons, the Dutchman is poised to make his debut for Tottenham in a big London derby at West Ham after the international break.

Tottenham transfers: Shock late window move for Liverpool star emerges as Frank eyes reinforcements

Thomas Frank targets surprise raid on Liverpool in late Tottenham transfer window strike - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a shock late summer transfer window swoop for a Liverpool first-team star who Arne Slot is reluctant to see move on.

Spurs have already made a transfer splash with just two days to go before the window shuts, after they unveiled exciting attacker Xavi Simons before suffering a shock 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday to end their winning start to the new Premier League campaign.

Simons has joined fellow new signing Mohammed Kudus in Thomas Frank’s attacking ranks, but Tottenham also remain keen on landing another central defender before Monday’s deadline and are said to have turned their attentions to Merseyside to try and get another deal over the line.

A report from Sky Sports claims that Spurs are keen on bringing in versatile Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, although they face a battle for his services.

The Reds signed Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong as two new full-backs over the summer, while Ibrahima Konate is firmly established as Virgil van Dijk’s central defensive partner, despite continued links to Real Madrid.

With that in mind, Sky Sports suggests Gomez, who is still only 28, will struggle for game time and is actively pushing for regular first-team football elsewhere.

Tottenham will have to battle with AC Milan, however, if they do make a concrete move for Gomez prior to Monday’s deadline.

The former Charlton defender has also been linked with Crystal Palace as part of Liverpool’s continued bid to sign Marc Guehi, despite the fact he continues to be blighted by injury issues.

The report does add, though, that Slot is reluctant to lose a player of Gomez’s versatility this close to the window shutting, so a Tottenham move could be an incredibly difficult one to pull off.

Tough to see where Gomez fits in at Tottenham

While Sky Sports will have their sources when it comes to Gomez potentially making a switch to north London, it’s tough to see how he would improve his game time at Tottenham.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are immovable as the first-choice central defensive pairing, while Kevin Danso is the current back-up after completing his move from France over the summer.

Frank does occasionally switch to a back three, which would mean Danso and Gomez have a scrap for the right-sided spot in the backline. However, the former has a real weapon in terms of his long-throw ability, with Frank putting plenty of emphasis on that sort of thing along with set-piece play.

That being said, the cover Gomez brings in terms of his ability to cover both full-back positions does make him an attractive option.

The Liverpool star also has plenty of Champions League experience, having featured 40 times in European football’s premier knockout competition.

Adding that sort of nous to a young Spurs squad would be wise from Frank’s point of view, but convincing Gomez that his game time would improve by making the switch to north London will be a tough task.

Description

Savinho fears his proposed move from Manchester City to Tottenham Hotspur is now slipping away, with Thomas Frank’s side exploring alternative attacking options, sources have revealed to TEAMtalk.

Tottenham had been determined not to walk away from the deal despite City’s insistence that the winger was not for sale. A fee in the region of £65million was on the table and there was genuine willingness from Spurs to proceed.

Talks remained open heading into the weekend, but optimism among sources close to the negotiations has waned. While the deal is not considered completely dead, confidence has faded and it is understood Savinho is disappointed given how excited he had become about Spurs’ vision for his role.

If Spurs are forced to abandon their pursuit, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman could emerge as a prime target, TEAMtalk can reveal. The Serie A club have been in contact with clubs across Europe in recent days, with Lookman keen to secure a move away. A permanent transfer would likely cost £35–40m, though a late loan deal has not been ruled out.

Another dream option for Spurs would be Morgan Rogers, although Aston Villa have given no indication they are prepared to sell. Spurs have been exploring the issue since Thursday, sources have told TEAMtalk.

As reported on Friday, Spurs have also sounded out agents regarding a potential move for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, should his situation change. He made his first Premier League appearance of the season on Saturday, coming on as a half-time substitute against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Returning to Savinho, TEAMtalk’s Rudy Galetti reported on August 22 that Spurs are willing to break their transfer record to land him.

We revealed on Friday that Spurs still remain keen on the 21-year-old, despite other outlets claiming the move is completely dead. But it is clear that the transfer is certainly getting more difficult as the deadline edges closer.

TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher reported on Tuesday that Spurs have made contact for Lookman, and he is now emerging as a serious alternative to Savinho.

Spurs want another attacking addition after winning the race for Dutch talent Xavi Simons recently. Simons was presented to fans before Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth after Spurs beat rivals Chelsea to his capture.

Simons cost Spurs €60m (£52m) and has followed the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Kota Takai to the north London club this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are holding talks to sign a player that Manchester City are ready to offload before the summer transfer window closes on September 1, according to a report, but Thomas Frank’s side are facing competition from one of Europe’s biggest clubs for his signature.

With the window to close on Monday, Tottenham have ramped up their pursuit of top targets. Xavi Simons has joined from RB Leipzig despite Chelsea being after the Netherlands international attacking midfielder for most of the summer, with Tottenham still harbouring hopes of convincing Man City to sell Savinho.

Another Man City player is on Tottenham’s radar, with trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that Spurs are keen on Manuel Akanji.

According to Romano, Tottenham have already approached Man City for Akanji, who is available for £15million (€17.3m, $20.3m)

AC Milan are also keen on securing the services of the 30-year-old Switzerland international defender, who has won the Premier League title twice and the FA Cup and the Champions League once each other Man City.

TBR journalist Graeme Bailey has brought an update on the future of Akanji, claiming that he is tempted by the prospect of joining Tottenham.

While Milan will struggle to pay the wages of Akanji, which are £180,000 per week, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would have no such issues.

Bailey told TBR: “Akanji could stay, he loves it at City but I am told he is tempted by Milan and now Tottenham and there is a good chance he moves.

“His wages are an issue for the Italian club. However, they are happy to meet the asking price for the player which is around £15million.

“Now Tottenham have entered the conversation and are holding talks – unlike Milan they don’t have an issue with his salary.”

AC Milan go public with Manuel Akanji interest

While Tottenham are privately trying to do a deal for Akanji, Milan have gone public with their interest in the defender.

Milan sporting director Igli Tare said: “This change in formation in the last few days has put us in a bit of trouble.

“In the next four or five days, we need to try to bring home an experienced player like Akanji: he can play for AC Milan. But it’s not easy.”

It is unlikely that Tare would have gone public if Milan did not believe that Akanji would at least be interested in a move to San Siro.

Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have lofty plans to at least challenge for the Serie A title this season under manager Massimiliano Allegri.

However, if Tottenham are able to meet the financial demands of Man City and Akanji, then Milan would have to look at alternatives.

Gary Lineker has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa after chairman Daniel Levy sanctioned a deal for Xavi Simons, as Unai Emery’s stance on selling the star before the summer transfer window closes on September 1 comes to light.

With Son Heung-min leaving for Los Angeles FC and James Maddison suffering a long-term knee injury in pre-season, Tottenham are in the market for attacking reinforcements. Despite Chelsea’s interest, Tottenham have secured the services of versatile Dutch star Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and are looking to add another player to manager Thomas Frank’s squad who can be deployed in an attacking role.

Savinho is a player that Tottenham are determined to sign, despite Manchester City being adamant that the Brazil international winger is not for sale.

Villa attacker Rogers is another player that Tottenham are keen on, with Football Insider reporting on August 25 that the north London club have already held ‘preliminary discussions’ over a potential deal for the 23-year-old.

Rogers is a very versatile player who played in attacking midfield, as a right-winger and as a left-winger for Villa last season.

Villa manager Emery also deployed Rogers as a centre-forward on three occasions in the 2024/25 campaign, as the 23-year-old scored 14 goals and gave 16 assists in 54 matches in all competitions.

Former Tottenham striker Lineker believes that Rogers would be a brilliant signing for Thomas Frank’s side.

Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast: “I’ve seen Morgan Rogers linked with Tottenham.

“I’m sorry Villa fans, I think that’d be an incredible signing for Spurs. I think they (Villa) might have PSR problems.

“And given the disappointments of missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, I think that would more than make up for things. He’s a player.”

Unai Emery wants to keep Morgan Rogers

While Lineker would love to see Rogers join his former club Tottenham, ex-Villa star Micah Richards has urged the Villans to keep hold of the youngster.

Richards responded to Lineker: “He’s got to stay. He can’t go anywhere. It’d be a great signing, but they can’t.

“If they were to get rid of him, Emery might as well leave. What’s the point selling all the young talent? How is he supposed to build?”

Former Tottenham and Villa senior scout, Mick Brown, has also given his take on the situation and has claimed that Emery wants to keep Rogers.

Brown told Football Insider: “Morgan Rogers would be an ambitious move for Tottenham.

“The main thing with Villa at the moment, there are those financial issues hanging over them.

“They haven’t been able to spend big, so they want to keep the players they have got, and that will direct Morgan Rogers’ future and whether they let him go.

“He’s done really well at Villa so it’s no surprise there is interest in him.

“I’m told Tottenham have spoken to Villa about whether he might be available.

“Unai Emery wants to keep him, he’s one of his better players so that’s a given really.

“Spurs feel they can get a deal done, but if they do it certainly won’t be cheap.

“We know Tottenham need to replace Maddison, and they definitely see Rogers as somebody who can fill that attacking midfield role.

“Whether Villa will be open to a deal isn’t clear, I expect probably not, but Tottenham look like they’re going to try so we’ll see.”

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has told Football Insider that Rogers would be a ‘dream signing’ for Tottenham, adding that Villa would demand a huge fee.

Sources have told TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, that Villa will not sell Rogers for anything less than £80million (€92.5m, $108m).

O’Rourke said: “It’s quite similar [to Savinho].

“Obviously, he’d be a dream signing for Tottenham, if they could land someone like Morgan Rogers – there’s a lot of admiration there and he’d tick a lot of boxes.

“Unai Emery’s been restricted in the transfer market, so he won’t really want to lose one of his star players, his prize asset, and there’s no doubt that Morgan Rogers is that.

“It would be a huge transfer fee for Aston Villa to even consider selling him.”

Description

Tottenham are reportedly ‘ready to bid’ for Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher and won’t ‘give up’ on the player they failed to sign a year ago.

Spurs look likely to have a very busy end to the summer window. Fabrizio Romano essentially confirmed as much when he revealed contact had been made for the signings of Lucas Paqueta and Antoine Semenyo.

Since then, it’s been revealed that Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons.

But with Yves Bissouma leaving the club, and Simons more of an advanced midfielder, another deeper-lying man is being eyed.

According to a report from Spains outlet AS, Tottenham are ‘ready to bid’ for Atletico Madrid midfielder Gallagher ‘in the coming hours’.

The report also states that Spurs are ‘not giving up’ on his signing.

However, it’s been suggested that Atletico will not allow the midfielder – who has played 52 games and been directly involved in 10 goals – to leave.

Spurs failed to land Gallagher last year

Chelsea looked for a while in 2024 like they were willing to sell Gallagher, and that came to fruition with a move to Atletico.

The Blues essentially sold him as his transfer fee went down as pure profit on their books.

Tottenham were the main English club interested in signing Gallagher, and at the time, TEAMtalk were aware they were hopeful of landing him for £30million.

Atletico paid slightly above that, at £34million, and it’s not clear what Spurs will bid for Gallagher a year down the line.

Tottenham round-up: Three Man City moves possible

Following the signing of Simons, Tottenham are looking to Manchester City for a few players.

Their interest in Savinho is well documented, despite the fact it’s not known if they’ll be able to land him.

But reports have now stated they have approached the Citizens for defender Manuel Akanji.

That comes after it was reported Spurs had opened talks with City over Nathan Ake, in an attempt to find out if that transfer would be possible.
