Barcelona 'want' elite Tottenham star as Daniel Levy sets price - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have named a surprisingly low price as Barcelona rival Atletico Madrid and Villarreal for the signing of Pedro Porro, it has been claimed.

Porro has been one of Tottenham’s better performers during what has been a largely woeful season under Ange Postecoglou. The right-back has chipped in with three goals and nine assists while playing 47 times in all competitions.

Tottenham are set for an important summer as they sit 16th in the Premier League table, just one point above 17th-placed West Ham United.

Spurs have reached the Europa League semi-finals and hold a 3-1 aggregate lead over Bodo/Glimt after the first leg.

But even if Postecoglou comes through on his trophy promise and ends Spurs’ long wait for silverware, Daniel Levy could still swing the axe – demonstrating just how bad their domestic form has been.

Spurs also need to bolster several positions and add much-needed experience to the squad. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, though, the north London outfit will receive numerous approaches for Porro.

It is claimed that Spurs have ‘opened the door’ to the full-back’s exit, despite him being one of their best players, by letting interested clubs know they will sell for €50million (£42.5m / $57m) or more.

Real Madrid have previously been linked with Porro, but they are expected to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer from Liverpool instead. Porro could still secure a move to LaLiga, however.

Barcelona ‘want’ the Spain international and are ‘considering’ a bid as they look to get the jump on Atleti and Villarreal.

Hansi Flick is searching for a versatile star who can compete with Jules Kounde at right-back while also providing backup on the left side of defence, and Porro is seen as an ideal fit.

Atleti, meanwhile, have earmarked Porro as a potential signing in case current right-back Nahuel Molina moves on.

Tottenham to launch unexpected Liverpool raid as double transfer wildcard stuns three rivals

Pedro Porro exit would be surprise move

While Porro could be tempted by the opportunity to return to his home country, it would be a shock if a Spurs exit worth around £42.5m went through this summer.

Spurs need to retain their top stars if they are to get closer to the top six next season, and the 25-year-old certainly fits into this category.

Plus, Spurs are known to be tough sellers, as shown by them previously rejecting big-money offers from Manchester City and Manchester United for Harry Kane.

It is hard to see Spurs allowing Porro to leave for anything less than £60m. They are in a strong position as his contract does not run out until June 2028.

A more realistic threat to Spurs could be City, as they were linked with re-signing Porro on April 22.

Although, City’s talks for Kane show that they will need to stump up a huge amount to convince Spurs to sell to a Premier League rival.

Stunning Tottenham raid on Liverpool ON as double ace card offers major advantage - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have positioned themselves into the driving seat over a shock move to sign Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, with a returning director handing them a key advantage over three transfer rivals – and with the Reds’ asking price for the star also coming to light.

The Italy winger moved to Anfield last summer in a £12.5m (€15m, $16.7m) move from Juventus, proving to be the only firm addition to Arne Slot’s squad that summer. However, while big things were expected of the star at Anfield, what ultimately prevailed was an unexpected struggle for minutes, with Chiesa having been limited to just three starts for Liverpool so far.

Chiesa‘s struggles have prompted sympathy from Slot and also seen speculation rise quickly over his future. And while January transfer links ultimately came to nothing – the 51-times capped star was linked with a loan return to Serie A – this summer may prove an entirely different question, especially given the recent news that Mo Salah has signed up for another two years at Anfield.

As a result, CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool are now open to selling the winger if a suitable offer arrives on the table.

To that end, the likes of Napoli and AC Milan have both been linked with a move in recent weeks, while interest has also emerged from Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

However, it’s claimed Tottenham are very much in the driving seat to secure the winger in a surprise deal – with two key advantages giving them the edge over all three rival suitors.

Firstly, it’s claimed Spurs are willing to satisfy the winger’s wage demands and match the current £120,000 a week package he is on at Anfield – something none of the others could do.

And secondly, it’s claimed that Fabio Paratici – due to return to Tottenham this summer after completing a suspension – can also play a significant role in the deal. That’s because the Italian has a very strong relationship with Chiesa’s agent, Fali Ramadani, having known him for multiple years.

Chiesa’s stance on Liverpool exit and possible Tottenham transfer

The report claims Liverpool are open to the sale of the 27-year-old if they receive an offer in the region of £12.7m – £17m (€15m – €20m / $17m – $22.7m) this summer.

However, convincing Chiesa himself to quit Merseyside may prove a different conversation altogether – and unless something drastically changes – it may prove a difficult issue getting the player to up sticks for the second summer in a row.

Discussing the winger’s future recently, Bild journalist Christian Falk insists Chiesa has no intentions of walking out on the Reds and is more determined than ever to prove himself to Slot next season.

“Not true: Ex-Bayern candidate Federico Chiesa wants to leave Liverpool in the summer,” Falk began in his Fact Files column. “He wants to fulfil his contract until summer 2028.

“He was also not interested in the winter interest from Napoli, Inter Milan and Lazio because he wants to assert himself on Merseyside.

“The fact that he has had problems so far is due to his two injuries.”

And on claims he could leave, he concluded: “He wants to show Liverpool this season just how valuable he can be.”

Chiesa’s father, Enrico, himself a prominent former Italian international, also revealed in an interview that the player is determined to fulfil the four-year deal he signed on Merseyside last summer.

“I can guarantee that Federico’s very happy at Liverpool,” Enrico said. “We hope he can win the Premier League, we have no regrets about Juventus. He’s so happy at Liverpool.

“He is there to play his cards, he has a great chance. This summer, I told him what I have been telling him since he was little. Because, in reality, until he was 15, he didn’t play often and when he asked me, ‘What should I do?’ I told him to keep training, not to give up, to be ready when his time came.”

However, whether the promise of more regular first-team football at Tottenham could persuade him to up sticks remains to be seen.

Spurs transfer latest: £13m Leicester talent wanted;

Meanwhile, Spurs are reportedly pushing hard to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to the signing of an incredible young Leicester City attacking talent in a £13m deal this summer.

Elsewhere, Spurs have reportedly intensified their efforts to sign a highly-rated Inter Milan centre-back as a replacement for exit-bound Cristian Romero in the upcoming summer transfer window.

And finally, Tottenham are on red alert to a possible summer deal for Eberechi Eze amid claims he has now informed Crystal Palace that he wants to leave Selhurst Park this summer – and with the one condition he has made before making his next move now coming to light.

Tottenham news: Argentina star 'hopes' Cristian Romero will walk away to join him at huge club - TEAMtalk
Description

An Argentina star has revealed he “hopes” Tottenham man Cristian Romero will quit the club this summer to join him and the “family” at a European giant.

Romero has been one of the very most important players at Spurs in recent seasons. When he has been injured, there has been a clear drop off in defensive stability.

This season, he has been sidelined often, and Tottenham have had a woeful camaign in England, sitting 16th in the Premier League.

It’s little surprise Romero is being linked with big clubs, knowing he could find himself in a much better situation, where things are not likely to fall apart so easily.

Links to Atletico Madrid have been rife of late, and their star man, Julian Alvarez, has detailed his hope of landing the Tottenham man.

“I hope [he joins]! I hope it happens. He’s a great player. One of the best centre-backs in the world, in my opinion. A team-mate on the national team and a great person. Such a great addition to the team would be a great help,” he told Diario AS.

“[Atleti] feels more like Argentina compared to the Premier League. Maybe also because of the language, or, as we were saying, there are many Argentinian team-mates, the coach too, and so I felt a bit more like Argentina. It’s like a family, very close.

“The passion, courage, and heart that Atleti identifies with is felt a bit more from within.”

Romero eyeing Spain move

Romero himself has dropped a hint that Atletico could be an ideal landing spot amid speculation.

Asked for a league he hasn’t played in which he’d like to, Romero responded: “The league I’m missing is Spain’s. I’d love to, honestly. La Liga.

“I’d love to play there because it’s the one I haven’t played in yet.”

There have also been reports linking Romero with Real Madrid, but Atletico seem most interested, and Romero’s comments will likely motivate them to make a move.

Tottenham round-up: Eze move conditional

Spurs have long been linked with the signing of Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze. However, it’s reported that if he is to leave, the Englishman wants European football.

Spurs will only be able to offer him that if they win the Europa League, where it looks most likely they’ll face Manchester United if they are to reach the final.

Meanwhile, a big raid on Everton has also been thrown into the air, as the Toffees are adamant they won’t sell Jarrad Branthwaite for less than £70million.

While Spurs have the centre-back on their shortlist, they’re not ready to make a serious move due to his price tag.

Levy masterstroke to secure dynamic Tottenham signing ahead of Man Utd - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly pushing hard to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United to the signing of an incredible young Leicester City attacking talent this summer.

Spurs have made attracting top young talent to north London their main focus when it come to transfer strategy in recent windows, having snapped up the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson Odobert and Antonin Kinsky.

South Korean starlet Min-hyeok Yang was also snapped up and immediately loaned out to QPR in January, while Irish prodigy Mason Melia will arrive early next year.

And it now appears that Tottenham have all eyes on relegated Leicester for their next teenage signing coup in the shape of 16-year-old forward Jake Evans.

Spanish outlet Fichajes states that the Foxes starlet is firmly on Spurs’ radar and that Daniel Levy already has a £13million offer on the table for the player, as he looks to secure another sensational young talent for the club.

Evans is regarded as one of Leicester’s brightest prospects and became the third youngest player to ever feature for the club when he made his debut against Brighton back in April.

With the Foxes relegation fate virtually sealed weeks ago, the club have been looking to the future and Evans has been handed two Premier League appearances off the bench to date, as well as having played in the EFL Trophy.

The teenager has largely been utilised as a striker for Leicester this season but can also play out wide. He is adept at holding the ball up and bringing others in to play but also has a strong burst of speed to get in behind and is a polished finisher. Indeed, in 14 Premier League 2 appearances this season, Evans has notched an impressive 10 goals.

Tottenham wary of growing Man Utd threat for Evans

The report adds that while Spurs are well placed to snap up the youngster, interest from Manchester United has forced them to up the ante when it comes to winning the race for his signature.

Fichajes adds that the Red Devils, who are also putting a greater emphasis on bringing down the overall age of their squad and attracting young talent, are also ready to submit an offer of their own for Evans.

In terms of Leicester’s willingness to sell, relegation means they are almost certain to cash in on – as along as they receive a suitable offer for a player who has been tipped to be the heir to Jamie Vardy’s throne at the King Power.

Indeed, speaking back in February about Evans and fellow highly-rated teenager Jeremy Monga, Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed that he expects both players to have big roles with the Foxes next season.

The Dutchman said: “Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga are very closely monitored by us in their performances in the Under-21s. Fifteen and 16-year-olds who are performing in PL2 on a regular basis and doing well there.

“They are on a weekly basis part of first-team training and will continue to do so over the coming months. They will be part of next year’s set-up in terms of how we plan a pre-season.

“They are vital parts already, even though they’re 15 and 16. It’s hard to imagine at their age they are part of team training on a regular basis and in the plans of this football club.”

Tottenham told to sign 'sharp' free agent striker 'better than Mathys Tel' as crafty Levy deal is touted - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been told to sign Jamie Vardy on a free transfer this summer, with a pundit explaining why the veteran star’s arrival would make plenty of sense for Daniel Levy and having named the two attackers on the club’s books that the Leicester man is better than.

The 38-year-old is regarded in Leicester circles as one of their best signings of all time. Signed in a £1m deal from then non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012, Vardy has won both the Premier League and FA Cup during a hugely influential spell at the King Power Stadium that has seen the player score an impressive 199 goals in 498 appearances.

Now having announced he will leave the Foxes after 13 seasons in the summer, Vardy still intends to carry on playing and with a number of clubs having already seemingly expressed an interest in a free transfer deal.

To that end, Vardy has been linked with lucrative moves to either the MLS or the Saudi Pro-League.

However, there is a school of thought that Vardy could actually end up signing for another Premier League side, with the likes of newly-crowned Championship champions Leeds among those keen.

But former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara is urging Levy to swoop to bring Vardy to the north London side this summer, claiming the player is better than both Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert.

“I think he’s not going to be short of suitors, genuinely,” O’Hara said on talkSPORT.

“He has scored eight Premier League goals this season in a terrible Leicester side. He has played a lot of football. He still looks sharp, looks fit, he’s still quick, it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.

“I’m putting it out there, he’s better than Mathys Tel and Odobert at Tottenham.

“I’d have him at Tottenham. I would. Not to play very week, but as a backup to [Dominic] Solanke. Who’s our backup? We ain’t got anyone.”

Big Champ move touted for Jamie Vardy

A move to bring Vardy to Spurs would certainly make a lot of sense. Vardy has still proved himself capable of playing at the highest level and on a one-year deal, Spurs could do far worse.

That said, while Levy is known to like a bargain, his signing would only be a short-term measure and it remains to be seen how many years left at the highest level the 38-year-old will have.

In the meantime, Gary Lineker has also paid tribute to Vardy on The Rest is Football podcast.

“I’d like to just thank Jamie for all he’s done for Leicester City Football Club. He’s inimitable,” Lineker said.

“He can be a bit of a ****house at times on the pitch for everyone, but I always think in a brilliant way. He’s been one of the game’s great finishers.

“He’s done some incredible things. He was part of obviously the title winning team in 2016 and then the FA Cup winning team as well.

“He’s been incredibly consistent and has very much been an absolute hero of all Leicester City fans. So thank you, Jamie Vardy, and good luck with whatever comes next.”

While discussing a potential next move, Lineker’s colleague Micah Richards suggested a move to a high-profile Championship newcomer is on the cards.

“I’m hearing Wrexham guys. He wants to go to Wrexham,” Richards claimed.

That was greeted with a humourous response from Alan Shearer, who replied: “There might not be much sunshine there!,” with Lineker then stating: “I can see him in the MLS.”

Tottenham transfer news: Inter star wanted; Real Madrid target teen star

Meanwhile, Levy has reportedly intensified his efforts to sign a highly-rated Inter Milan centre-back as a replacement for exit-bound Cristian Romero in the upcoming summer window.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid are interested in signing Lucas Bergvall from Spurs, per a report, which has also revealed the midfielder’s stance on his future and having recently just signed a new long-term deal in north London.

Tottenham signing of 'one of the best central defenders in Serie A' intensifies - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly intensified their efforts to sign highly-rated Inter Milan centre-back Yann Bisseck, as a replacement for exit-bound Cristian Romero in the upcoming summer transfer.

Spurs’ interest in Bisseck stems from a growing expectancy that Romero will be sold this summer, with Spanish giants Atletico and Real Madrid both pushing to sign the Argentina World Cup winner.

Romero has already strongly hinted that a move to LaLiga could soon be on the cards, with Daniel Levy expected to demand anywhere between £60-80million for the defender.

While the 27-year-old’s form this season has been way below what he has produced in previous campaigns, Romero would still leave a big hole to fill if he does move on – one which Tottenham are confident Bisseck can fill – as TEAMtalk have reported previously.

And now a fresh report from CaughtOffside has revealed that the north London outfit will have to fork out in the region of £47m to get their man, having ramped up their pursuit of the player.

Bisseck is a player very much in demand right now, having established himself as a regular starter under Simone Inzaghi’s Champions League semi-finalists.

Despite that status, the report adds that Inter are “open to doing business” for a player who still has four years left on his contract and therefore represents being able to recoup a significant amount for his services.

The Germany international has featured 40 times in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring twice and adding three assists and, as a natural right-footer, would slot straight in as Romero’s replacement for whoever is in charge of Tottenham next season.

DON’T MISS ➡️ When does the summer 2025 transfer window open? All the key dates…

Germany legend raves over elite Bisseck

Bisseck’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable since he quit Danish outfit Aarhus GF for a move to the San Siro in the summer of 2023.

The 24-year-old is well known for his pace and versatility and clearly has a big admirer when it comes to Germany icon Lothar Matthaus.

Indeed, Matthaus has previously labelled Bisseck as “one of the best central defenders in Serie A”, while also pointing out that you have to be “extraordinary” to play in Inter’s defence.

Matthaus is not wrong in that regard, given that Inter have conceded less than a goal a game this season in Serie A as they push Napoli for the title with just four games remaining.

Tottenham will not have it all their own way though when it comes to trying to win the race for Bisseck’s signature, with Manchester United also showing significant interest – alongside the likes of West Ham United, Everton and Bournemouth.

Real Madrid target ‘unstoppable’ Tottenham midfielder with ‘a very high ceiling’ - TEAMtalk
Description

Real Madrid are interested in signing Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report, which has also revealed the midfielder’s stance on his long-term future at the north London club.

Bergvall is one of the brightest young talents in the Premier League and has done well for Tottenham when he has played. While Spurs have been hugely disappointing this season, one of the few players who has impressed is the 19-year-old Sweden international midfielder.

The teenager officially moved to Spurs from Djurgarden last summer and has made 45 appearances in all competitions for the north London club so far this season, scoring one goal and providing four assists in the process.

Not only has Bergvall impressed Tottenham fans with his combative nature in the middle of the park, but Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, too, has been singing his praises, describing him as an “unstoppable” player when “he has the ball and runs” in Goal in March 2025.

Tottenham are aware of how good a player Bergvall is and what he could become, and handed him a mammoth new contract this week that runs until 2031.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou subsequently noted that the youngster has made the most of the chances he has got this season, adding that he is among “a core group of young players here that hopefully we can build something from”.

However, it has emerged that Spanish and European giants Madrid are still keen on the teenager and want to sign him.

GiveMeSport has reported that Madrid have been tracking Bergvall and will continue to monitor him in the coming years despite his new deal with Tottenham.

Last season’s LaLiga and Champions League winners ‘are adamant that Bergvall has a very high ceiling’, according to the report.

Los Blancos are said to be ‘keen to enter negotiations with Tottenham further down the line even though the big development of him signing a new contract has resulted in them accepting that a move in the coming months is not on the cards’.

Bergvall could potentially be a heir to Luka Modric at Madrid. The Croatian midfielder is 39 now and is out of contract at Los Blancos at the end of the season.

Interestingly, Madrid signed Modric from Tottenham in 2012 for £30million.

Bergvall stance on Tottenham amid Real Madrid interest

That Bergvall has only just signed a new contract with Tottenham shows that he is happy at the Premier League club.

After putting pen to paper on the new contract, the midfielder told Tottenham’s official website: “I’m really excited and really grateful to everyone who has helped me and I’m excited for this journey to continue.

“It’s a club with great ambitions, I’m really enjoying being here and playing for this amazing football club.”

GiveMeSport has added that ‘Bergvall is fully committed to Tottenham after being rewarded with a new contract’.

It has been claimed that the Swedish star ‘has a desire to become an even more important member of the squad after being pleased with his personal growth over the course of the campaign’.

Bergvall is not the only Tottenham player that Madrid have their eyes on.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, reported on March 28 that Madrid want to sign Argentina international central defender Cristian Romero from Spurs.

Tottenham news: Bitter Spurs planning counter-raid on Atletico Madrid with TWO big names wanted - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham are unhappy with Atletico Madrid’s interest in two Spurs stars being made public and a report claims they’re weighing up a counter-raid on the LaLiga giants.

Tottenham’s plans for the upcoming summer window will be shaped by how the remainder of their Europa League campaign fares. Spurs face Norwegian minnows Bodo/Glimt in the semi-finals, with either Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao awaiting the winners of that tie in the final.

Should Spurs win the competition, they’ll secure qualification for the Champions League. Aside from the obvious financial boost that would bring, it will also help in convincing the club’s brightest stars to stay and aid their chances of bringing big-name arrivals through the door.

Regarding potential exits, one name hitting the headlines of late is centre-back Cristian Romero.

The Argentine has publicly expressed a desire to play in LaLiga one day and is understood to be on Atletico Madrid’s radar.

Indeed, Spanish reporter, Edu Burgos, reported earlier in April: “Atletico Madrid is speeding up the move for ‘Cuti’ Romero. Simeone’s top priority ahead of the Club World Cup.

“A personal agreement isn’t a problem. Negotiating with Tottenham is. The player likes the idea of living in Madrid.”

However, Romero isn’t the only big-name Spurs star in Atleti’s sights, with trusted reporter, Ben Jacobs, confirming back in March that Rodrigo Bentancur is a player of interest too.

The pair are regular starters in north London and Spurs would rather not lose either player irrespective of whether they qualify for the Champions League or not.

And according to a fresh update from GiveMeSport, Tottenham have not taken kindly to Atleti’s interest in Romero and Bentancur entering the public domain.

The report stated: ‘GMS sources have been told that Atletico Madrid’s intent to land Romero and Bentancur is genuine, but Tottenham are not entirely happy that their interest has been made public and they could make it difficult for the LaLiga side to hold successful negotiations by refusing to lower their demands.’

Furthermore, it was also claimed Tottenham could attempt to put Diego Simeone and co in their place by launching a counter-raid…

Tottenham want Conor Gallagher

Spurs are long-term admirers of Conor Gallagher having earmarked the all-action midfielder as the perfect player for Ange Postecoglou last summer.

Unfortunately for the Spurs boss, Chelsea sold Gallagher to Atletico Madrid in a deal worth approximately £34m.

Gallagher has made 42 appearances across all competitions in his first season with Atleti, though has not been a guaranteed starter.

As such, Spurs sense an opportunity to bring Gallagher back to England and per GMS, they ‘could make a cheeky enquiry to sign Gallagher if Atletico Madrid come knocking for Romero and Bentancur.’

On whether Gallagher would be open to cutting his spell in Spanish football short, the report claimed he is ‘enjoying his time’ in LaLiga.

As such, Spurs could face an uphill struggle to turn the player’s head, with securing UCL football the first step towards doing just that.

On Romero and Bentancur, GMS added it’s Romero who is likelier to leave of the two.

The report concluded: ‘Tottenham have accepted that Romero’s head will be turned by the chance to join Atletico Madrid, but GMS sources understand they remain more hopeful that Bentancur can be convinced to stay in north London, particularly if Ange Postecoglou is replaced in the dugout ahead of next season.’

Latest Tottenham news – One winger out, one winger in?

In other news, TEAMtalk has been informed Leeds United intend to sign Manor Solomon to a permanent deal following his dazzling loan spell.

The Spurs winger has laid waste to Championship defences and played a huge role in helping Leeds to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Tottenham are willing to sell and have no plans to reintegrate the winger into their first-team plans. That is music to the ears of deal-makers at Leeds who now intend to forge an agreement with their counterparts in north London.

Elsewhere, CaughtOffside have offered a clue as to why Solomon has no future back at Spurs, with the report claiming Tottenham have fixed their gaze on signing Jarrod Bowen.

Liverpool transfers: Daring raid for Tottenham speed demon ON as pundit names SIX 'heavyweight' Slot targets

Liverpool transfer plans 'go into overdrive' as BBC man names six 'heavyweight' signings Slot is targeting - TEAMtalk
Description

Liverpool are ready to invest heavily in their squad this summer, with sporting director Richard Hughes described as being ‘well on’ to adding new signings with ‘heavyweight reinforcements’ due to arrive and with an elite Tottenham Hotspur star among those appreciated, per a BBC Sport pundit.

The Reds are basking in the glory of winning the Premier League title in the first year of the Arne Slot reign – an achievement made all the more remarkable given the Dutchman hardly spent any money on squad strengthening last summer. And aside from the little-used Italy winger Federico Chiesa, Slot was able to mastermind Liverpool‘s triumph with virtually the same set of players he had inherited from Jurgen Klopp last summer.

However, all that is about to change this summer and our transfer insider Fraser Fletcher revealed back in February that Slot will be granted vast sums of cash to strengthen his squad ahead of what sources described to us as a ‘historic summer window’.

We understand some £200m will be made available to the Reds boss, with three priority signings on his radar: a new centre-half, a left-back and a new centre forward.

And with Slot looking to put his stamp down on his squad at Anfield, BBC Sport has lit the blue touch paper for what they expect to be a huge summer of spending for the Reds and suggesting their plans are ‘ready to go into overdrive’ with a number of ‘heavyweight’ signings targeted.

As a result, former Reds star turned pundit Danny Murphy has now come up with a six-strong list of targets he thinks Slot will go for, including three centre-halves, one left-back and two attackers.

Starting with the defence, Murphy is advocating Liverpool to ignore the talents of Dean Huijsen and sign someone a “bit further down the line” in their development, having named Marc Guehi, Jarrad Branthwaite and Micky van de Ven as likely options.

In attack, Murphy believes the Reds could target both Jonathan David and Mohammed Kudus – the former of which TEAMtalk revealed was very much on their radar this summer.

And finally, Murphy believes there is only one left-back they are seeking – and the name Milos Kerkez will be extremely familiar to TEAMtalk readers after our man Fletcher exclusively broke the news way back in September that the Bournemouth star had been sounded out as Andy Robertson’s long-term heir.

Murphy pushing Liverpool to sign Tottenham speed demon

Explaining his thoughts on Liverpool’s summer business, Murphy told BBC Sport: “Van Dijk is staying and will be the mainstay, so whether there is an addition depends on Arne Slot’s view on Joe [Gomez] and Jarell Quansah. The amount of minutes they have played this season is very limited, so that suggests to me that he wants some backup there.

“Virgil is coming up to 34, so they will want to get someone who will play a lot of games. If Van Dijk gets injured, there is no-one there with anywhere near his presence.

“There have been rumours about Dean Huijsen at Bournemouth, who is a super young talent, but I’d like to see someone a bit further down the line in their development.

“The names that spring to mind will not be easy, maybe impossible, to get but you think of Micky van de Ven at Spurs, Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

“They are used to the Premier League and all different. Van de Ven has got lightning pace, Guehi has physicality, although he is not the biggest, a real calmness and leadership. Branthwaite maybe doesn’t have the athleticism, but is a real presence.

“If you could guarantee Gomez would be fit, you might not use up your budget there. Van Dijk’s durability at his age, and Ibrahima Konate as well, have been a huge reason why Liverpool have been so good, but I think centre-half will be looked at.”

On the interest in adding Kerkez at left-back, Murphy explained: “He’s quick, he’s got good feet, likes defending one-on-one. He is very tenacious, great energy, and is only 21. It fits the criteria of Liverpool’s recruitment team measured by the ability to progress and become more of an asset. I think that’s quite likely to happen.

“If I would prioritise on full-back position it would be on the left. This is not any slight on Andy Robertson, just in terms of strong competition and a future first choice.”

Murphy also feels it’s time to freshen up the Liverpool attack and feels Darwin Nunez’s time at Anfield will soon be up.

“I think Alexander Isak is probably unrealistic,” says Murphy. “And with the fees being talked about I’m not sure I’d be in that conversation. I’m not talking about his quality, just that when you pay such a big part of your budget on one player you almost want a guarantee they will be fit.

“I’m surprised we haven’t heard a bit more about Jonathan David at Lille, who is on a free. Watching him play he seems to have Premier League attributes. He’s strong, quick, a decent finisher and a scoring record of one in two is exactly what you want. He has been doing that with Lille for four seasons now and is only 25.”

And player Murphy reckons Liverpool could rekindle interest for is West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus.

He said: “Kudus is robust, skilful and can play as a ’10’ or on the left or right. He is super strong and got great pace.”

Liverpool transfer latest: Trent deal to set precedent; Man Utd star linked

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘will bid farewell’ to Liverpool and join Real Madrid, though the deal in question could set a precedent after a report branded the move a situation ‘never before seen in football.’

In light of the ‘will he go or will he stay’ debate around the Reds vice-captain, former Man Utd midfielder Paul Scholes has offered the player some sound career advice that may make him think twice before making his verdict public knowledge.

Elsewhere, Mo Salah has had his say on Liverpool’s title triumph and claims this season’s success is “100% better” than when they won it under Klopp.

And finally, it has been revealed that Liverpool were offered the chance to sign a £120,000 a week Man Utd star last summer.

West Ham respond after learning Liverpool plan £51m bid for ‘unbelievable’ star - TEAMtalk
Description

Liverpool have taken a shine to one of the best players of West Ham United, according to a report, but there are two potential problems for Reds manager Arne Slot in getting a deal done in the summer transfer window.

The Merseyside club secured the Premier League title this past weekend with a comprehensive win against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. It was a remarkable feat for Slot, who became the first Dutch manager to win the Premier League title, and that too in his first season in charge of the Reds.

Liverpool also recently made sure that star forward Mohamed Salah and key defender Virgil van Dijk extend their stay at Anfield.

The Reds already have a very good attacking unit, with Netherlands international Cody Gakpo relishing playing on the left under Slot and Colombia international forward Luis Diaz hammering 12 goals in 26 league starts this season.

However, it seems that Liverpool are keen on signing a new attacking player in the summer transfer window and have turned to West Ham.

Earlier this month, a report claimed that Liverpool are looking at a potential deal for Mohammed Kudus, and now the same publication has revealed that the Reds are keen on Jarrod Bowen too.

CaughtOffSide has reported that Liverpool could make a bid of €60million (£51m, $68.5m) for Bowen, who was described as an “unbelievable player” by then Reds manager Jurgen Klopp in The London Evening Standard in March 2022.

The newly-crowned Premier League champions are looking for a dynamic attacking player who can operate anywhere across the front-three, and ‘Bowen certainly fits the profile’.

The report has noted that West Ham do not want to sell the 28-year-old England international, who has played mainly as a right-winger and centre-forward this season.

West Ham’s stance is backed by another news outlet, HammersNews.

The reputable West Ham-centric website has quoted a spokesman for the West Ham owners as saying: “It’s true we have to sell to buy due to PSR, like many other clubs.

“Let me make this perfectly clear. Jarrod is on a long contract and he is not for sale.”

Tottenham Hotspur also eye Jarrod Bowen – report

CaughtOffSide has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Bowen as well, which means that the second problem that Liverpool are facing is competition.

The north London club, who have progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa League this season, are looking for a quality attacking player who can operate in a number of positions.

Like Liverpool, Tottenham are also said to be ready to bid £51million for the former Hull City star.

Bowen has scored 10 goals and given nine assists in 32 appearances for the Hammers this season.

The attacker found the back of the net 20 times and made 10 assists in 44 matches in all competitions for the London club in the 2023-24 campaign.

West Ham have had a disappointing season and find themselves 17th in the Premier League table with 36 points from 34 matches.
