Manchester City star Savinho has dropped a now-deleted hint on social media that he’s going to join Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

Spurs wanted to sign Savinho in January, and should he have joined then, they might not have been battling against relegation until the very final day of the campaign. Both at the time and since, it’s been suggested he’s open to signing for the north London club.

His openness to signing for Tottenham has been made all the more obvious by his social media activity.

Indeed, James Maddison posted a picture on Instagram wearing the club’s new kit, which Savinho liked initially, before removing his like.

The City winger follows the Spurs man on the social media platform, but the dynamic is not true the other way around… yet.

While it could simply be that Savinho liked the post when it appeared on his feed, that it was directly based on the new Tottenham playing kit, it feels a little bit more aimed.

Should the winger join Tottenham soon, he’d become their third signing of the summer, after Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham progressing for Savinho

TEAMtalk were made aware in early June that Spurs were progressing on a deal for Savinho.

Indeed, sources state the club are confident of landing the winger, and doing so at a reasonable fee.

Savinho was keen on a move in January, and his representatives have made it known that that is no different now that Roberto De Zerbi has taken charge at the north London club.

De Zerbi is believed to be having a significant impact on the amount of players eager to join Tottenham this summer.

The indication is that a fee in the region of £50million would do the job for Spurs.

Reports elsewhere have suggested Savinho is the main target the club are looking for out wide this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi wants Tottenham to raid Liverpool, with Spurs putting a five-year deal on the table for a Reds star and preparing to lodge a club-to-club offer.

Spurs are very active presently. Last season’s 17th-placed Premier League finishers have already signed three players this summer – Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke – and are linked with heaps more.

Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Savinho and Cody Gakpo are among them, as the midfield and attack are seemingly in line for a freshen up after the defence has been taken care of.

For Gakpo, a journalist has revealed De Zerbi personally wants him, and Spurs are therefore ready to lodge a bid to Liverpool.

That’s after they have already made progress on the player side. No offer has been accepted, but it has been lodged, with it said Gakpo has been offered a deal until 2031 at Tottenham.

It’s believed he would be given a key role in De Zerbi’s system – something he might no longer have at Liverpool.

Gakpo worried about Liverpool role

Indeed, TEAMtalk is aware that the Dutchman has concerns over his role under Andoni Iraola, specifically in the context of the development of teenager winger Rio Ngumoha.

Sources state Gakpo is unhappy about the prospect of finding himself behind Ngumoha in the pecking order.

Indeed, Liverpool view the young winger as a bright talent who can be a very important player for them, and he’s expected to become a cornerstone of new boss Iraola’s plans.

Gakpo remains ambitious and is not ready to accept a reduced role, and is therefore sounding out potential opportunities.

For their part, Liverpool don’t see the winger as untouchable and could let him go for the right offer.

But while Tottenham are reported to be pushing for Gakpo, Spurs insider John Wenham thinks the pursuit is all smoke and mirrors, with Manchester City’s Savinho the real target for the wing.

Speaking on the links, he said: “These Gakpo links are surely nonsense. You’d imagine it’s to maybe up the ante on Man City and Savinho.”

Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs have revealed the latest on Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to sign Sandro Tonali this summer, having already failed with an opening offer of £75million for the Newcastle midfielder.

Having already signed Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke to bolster their defensive line this summer, Spurs are also aiming to make a marquee signing in midfield and up front.

After failing with their opening gambit for Italy international Tonali, our sources have indicated how Tottenham could switch their focus to Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton instead.

West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes has also emerged on the club’s radar, although that appears to have sparked Man Utd into life in terms of their own chase for the Portuguese.

However, Romano and Jacobs claim that Tottenham will not be deterred from trying to secure Tonali’s signature, despite having that opening offer swifly batted away.

For their part, Newcastle are looking for a total package of £100m (€115m / $132m) for the Italian, which could come in the form of an £85m (€98m / $113m) offer with £15m (€17m / $20m) in add-ons.

A report from GIVEMESPORT states that Tottenham are willing to go as high as £85m (€98m / $113m) to complete a deal, although the potential of add-ons could present a sticking point.

GIVEMESPORT insider Jacobs has revealed that a second bid is being prepared by Spurs transfer chiefs, as the club looks to pull of a massive coup by beating the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United to the signing of Tonali, despite having no European football next season.

Indeed, Jacobs wrote: “A fresh bid is expected. Manchester City remain active as well. Spurs want to make a statement signing with Roberto De Zerbi stressing the importance of adding in central midfield.”

Romano urges Tonali patience from Tottenham fans

Romano, meanwhile, speaking on his YouTube channel, urged Spurs fans not to be too downbeat over that initial bid being rejected, as it was clearly just a starting point.

He stated: “Tottenham entered the race strong to sign Sandro Tonali and Sandro Tonali is open to joining Tottenham. Tottenham are real contenders to sign Sandro Tonali, Tottenham are strong contenders for Sandro Tonali and Tottenham are very serious.

“It’s a bid, it was sent three days ago. Tottenham sent an official bid, £75million, rejected by Newcastle, they want more. The first bid is never getting accepted, it’s normal and common knowledge in football that when you want to negotiate for a top player with a big transfer fee that the first bid never gets accepted.

“It’s part of the plan, because for Tottenham it was the message sent to the player and to Newcastle as well, but especially the player, to show that they are serious.

“It’s not the bid we need to talk about now, Tottenham remain in conversations with those close to Tonali and Tottenham remain in conversations to make a new bid. Tottenham are there and working for Tonali, they are working very hard and very strong to get Sandro Tonali.”

Manchester United have reportedly struck an ‘agreement’ with top midfield target Mateus Fernandes, amid rival interest from Tottenham, and TEAMtalk understands that West Ham have stepped up plans to replace him as they anticipate his big-money departure.

We have long reported how strengthening in midfield is the Red Devils’ priority this summer and they moved quickly to agree a deal of around £34million with Atalanta for Ederson.

The Brazilian maestro confirmed in an interview following his country’s 3-0 World Cup win over Haiti that the move is ‘almost all sorted’ and it would be a monumental shock if that deal wasn’t to be made official soon.

But Man Utd are looking to bring in at least two new midfielders and have set their sights on West Ham star Fernandes.

As previously reported, Man Utd have been big admirers of Fernandes for months, though Real Madrid are also keen on the 21-year-old, as they look to bolster their engine room.

We revealed on Friday that Tottenham Hotspur have burst into the race for Fernandes, too – information which has since been confirmed by other outlets.

However, despite the mounting competition, Man Utd have reportedly taken a big step towards winning the race for Fernandes, who is valued at around £80million by West Ham.

According to Football Insider, Man Utd have now ‘agreed personal terms’ with Fernandes, and now an agreement with West Ham is all that stands in the way of his signing.

The Red Devils ‘are making progress towards a full transfer agreement’ with Fernandes ‘expected to leave’ West Ham before the end of the summer, per the report.

Football Insider adds: ‘Sources have revealed that the Hammers are holding out for over £80million for the midfielder, with Man United hoping to conclude a deal worth £65m plus add ons.

‘The 20-times Premier League champions will hope that the offer of Champions League football will allow them to beat Tottenham to the signing of Fernandes, but transfer chiefs do not want to be drawn into a bidding war.’

Intriguingly, West Ham appear increasingly resigned to losing the Portuguese, following their relegation from the Premier League.

TEAMtalk revealed yesterday that West Ham are showing interest in Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan.

The 23-year-old is viewed as a potential replacement for Fernandes, though the Hammers face competition from Wolves and Southampton.

The three clubs are keen to inject younger, dynamic options into their squads, with Mulligan fitting the profile they are targeting this summer.

This all points to Fernandes leaving West Ham, and Man Utd appear to be in pole position as things stand.

Tottenham Hotspur insider Alasdair Gold claims the club’s links to an attacking star with links to Roberto De Zerbi are “utterly absurd” and that the club has “no interest” of signing the player.

Spurs have already been incredibly active in the summer window, acting early to bolster their defence, which goes against their normal process of doing business a bit later in the window.

The arrivals of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke gives a Tottenham backline that conceded 57 goals in 38 games this past season a completely new look to it, especially with skipper Cristian Romero on the brink of leaving.

Midfield is also an area where the club are looking to upgrade, with a mega offer already turned down for Sandro Tonali, while West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes is also of major interest, although Manchester United could end up winning that particular race.

De Zerbi, meanwhile, is also keen to overhaul the club’s misfiring frontline, with strikers Richarlison and Dominic Solanke potentially on the chopping block and the club’s need for an explosive new left-winger becoming clearer after the lack of output from that position during the 2025/26 campaign.

One player who has recently been linked with a move to north London and a return to the Premier League is winger Mason Greenwood.

The 24-year-old former Manchester United star featured under De Zerbi at Marseille and earned plenty of admiration from the Italian during his time in France.

Indeed, De Zerbi has previously come under fire for comments he made about Greenwood, who had rape charges against him that were dropped in 2023.

Upon his arrival in north London, De Zerbi was quizzed over his previous comments on the winger, while the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust raised concerns over them as a ‘serious topic’.

In the end, the Tottenham boss apologised, stating that he didn’t wish to “downplay the issue of violence against women or violence against anyone more broadly”.

Greenwood to Tottenham talk rubbished

That being said, a report in L’Equipe on Friday, stated that north London rivals Spurs and Arsenal were evaluating moves to bring Greenwood back to the Premier League this summer.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano immediately took to X to give his verdict on what would be a controversial move for Tottenham, regardless of the fact that they need new wide options.

And now Gold has weighed in on the speculation over a player who scored 26 goals and laid on 11 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for Marseille during the season just gone.

The Football.London reporter, who has strong ties to Tottenham, claims that the transfer links are “utterly absurd”, not least because of the criticism of De Zerbi and his subsequent apology regarding the player.

He adds that there is “no interest” in signing the former United star, as work continues in the background to sign other forward options.

Fabrizio Romano has insisted Tottenham Hotspur are ‘working on a deal’ for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, while Roberto De Zerbi’s side are also making progress over a second transfer.

Arsenal made contact for Tonali in the January transfer window, while Manchester United targeted him ahead of the summer window opening. However, Man Utd think the Italian’s £100million price tag is too expensive. They would rather sign Atalanta’s Ederson and Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United instead.

Man Utd’s decision has seen Manchester City emerge as favourites for Tonali. Indeed, we confirmed on Thursday that City remain undeterred by Newcastle’s £100m demands and are confident about snaring him.

But Tottenham burst into the race for Tonali earlier this week. They are going big in their squad rebuild at the request of De Zerbi, with elite signings needed to push the club up the Premier League table.

Spurs have already captured Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi this summer, and Romano has strongly suggested Tonali could be next.

“Tottenham are working on a deal for Sandro Tonali. Tottenham are aware of the player being open to joining,” the journalist said on his YouTube channel.

“That was my message, and that remains my message.

“I keep telling you about Tonali and Tottenham. Should anything change, I will come here and update you.

“But as of today, we are entering into the weekend, I keep telling you Sandro Tonali and Tottenham, wanted by Roberto De Zerbi in talks.

“So, deal on, Tottenham [and] Sandro Tonali. That’s the understanding, that’s the story.”

As per Romano’s colleague Matteo Morretto, Spurs are also stepping up their hunt for West Ham’s Fernandes, in a deal which would see Man Utd lose out.

Spurs are ‘very close to reaching an agreement’ with the Portuguese over a contract.

Tottenham want Tonali AND Fernandes

Fernandes is ‘open to signing for Spurs’, despite Old Trafford generally being viewed as his preferred destination.

Once Spurs have finalised personal terms, they will open ‘official negotiations’ with West Ham. Fernandes is not quite as expensive as Tonali, but he will still cost a huge £80-85m.

Daniel Kretinsky is determined to avoid a mass exodus at West Ham United this summer and TEAMtalk understands the Czech billionaire believes only one major player – Manchester United and Tottenham target Mateus Fernandes – should be sacrificed to fund the club’s rebuild amid a big new demand from Jarrod Bowen.

The Hammers are facing a pivotal transfer window following their relegation from the Premier League, with significant interest in several of their biggest stars.

A revenue hit of an estimated £100m per year will befall West Ham this summer after dropping into the Championship, while the club’s pre-tax loss of £104.2m, as reported in their most recent financial accounts, only adds to that burden.

However, sources have informed us that Kretinsky, now the club’s new de facto owner and driving force behind major decisions at the London Stadium, is keen to preserve the core of the current squad as West Ham look to bounce straight back to the top flight under Nuno Espirito Santo.

As a result, sources understand that Fernandes is the one player Kretinsky is prepared to cash in on this summer.

The Portuguese midfielder continues to attract major interest from across Europe and the Premier League, with Real Madrid among the clubs known to admire him, while Tottenham Hotspur have also explored his situation in recent weeks.

But crucially, TEAMtalk understands Kretinsky’s preference is for that departure to be Fernandes, and Fernandes alone, though they do face a battle to retain several other big-name stars…

West Ham make decisions over Bowen and Summerville sales

That stance is particularly significant given the growing interest in Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville – the latter of whom has also emerged as a target for Manchester United in recent days.

Both players are regarded as elite assets within the club, and both have attracted attention from clubs operating at the highest level.

Bowen’s future, in particular, has been the subject of considerable speculation.

As we have exclusively reported in May, the England international is open to remaining at West Ham and helping Nuno guide the club back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Family ties also strengthen his bond to the east London club.

However, sources have confirmed there is an important caveat. Bowen has made it clear that he does not want to remain at the club simply to watch the rest of the squad dismantled around him.

The 29-year-old is understood to have informed those close to the situation that his willingness to stay is closely linked to West Ham’s ambition and ability to retain the majority of their key players.

That is where Kretinsky’s thinking aligns with Bowen’s.

The Czech businessman views the winger as one of the most important figures at the club and believes he should be central to West Ham’s promotion push next season.

As a result, we understand there is a genuine belief internally that Bowen can be persuaded to stay if the club resist the temptation to sanction multiple high-profile sales.

The prospect of retaining both Bowen and Summerville, while generating significant funds through the sale of Fernandes, is increasingly viewed as the ideal outcome by those at the top of the club.

Whether that proves possible remains to be seen, however.

Interest in Fernandes continues to grow, and there is no shortage of suitors willing to discuss a major deal. Manchester United continue to push for his signing, though INEOS continues to play hardball over the fee.

Bowen and Summerville, meanwhile, will remain attractive targets for clubs seeking proven Premier League quality and their resolve will certainly be tested over the summer window.

But for now, Kretinsky’s position is clear.

West Ham need to sell to rebuild, but TEAMtalk understands he believes one major departure should be enough.

And if he gets his way, Fernandes could be the only star name sacrificed this summer, leaving Bowen and the rest of the club’s core group to spearhead an immediate push back to the Premier League.

Roberto De Zerbi’s chances of reuniting with former Manchester United star Mason Greenwood at Tottenham Hotspur have been dismissed in a cutting 12-word Fabrizio Romano reply, though the French media continues to insist Arsenal are standing by to make a controversial move.

The 24-year-old forward enjoyed a stellar debut season in France with Marseille, scoring 26 times and adding 11 assists across 45 appearances in form that has catapulted him back onto the radars of some of the world’s top clubs.

Any move would certainly be of interest to Manchester United, who, while selling Greenwood to OM last summer for a modest £26.6m (€30m), did insert a clause guaranteeing them a 40% cut of any future profit should the French side move him on.

That form has alerted the likes of Atletico Madrid and Roma, and while Barcelona’s interest has since cooled, their tracking of his progress is testament to the way the player has got his career back on track after some hugely challenging times off the pitch while at Old Trafford.

However, according to a report in L’Equipe on Friday, both Arsenal and Tottenham are evaluating moves to bring Greenwood back to the Premier League this summer.

Their report stated: ‘Under contract until 2029, the English striker (1 cap) has already stated his desire to stay in Provence.

‘However, the Marseille club would find it difficult to refuse a substantial offer, ideally one exceeding market value, as Manchester United still owns 40% of the player’s rights.

‘Greenwood has no shortage of suitors (AS Roma, Arsenal, Tottenham).’

However, Romano has spoken out to explain why a move to north London, with Tottenham at least, is not on the agenda.

Posting on X, Romano simply stated: “Tottenham are not working on a deal to sign Mason Greenwood despite reports.”

It’s hard to also see Arsenal making a move either for two very major reasons…

Premier League move near impossible for Mason Greenwood

Indeed, Arsenal are very well covered on the right side of attack – Greenwood’s preferred position – boasting two England stars there in Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke.

And as a matter of fact, the Gunners want to strengthen the left side of their attack, with upgrades sought for both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli – both of whom could be sold this summer.

The likes of Nico Williams, Bradley Barcola, Morgan Rogers and Kenan Yildiz are all listed as potential targets, with hopes growing that a deal for the Aston Villa star – albeit for a potential new club record fee – can be done.

Furthermore, TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher has explained at length previously why a move to bring Greenwood back to the Premier League looks highly unlikely to happen, owing to difficulties surrounding his controversial off-field troubles, which almost resulted in a Crown Court trial for rape before all charges were dropped by the CPS.

As a result, it would take a brave side to risk all that by signing Greenwood with the one-cap England star still seen as a hugely controversial figure within England and likely ensuring his career will (likely) never bring him back to these shores again.

Brighton & Hove Albion remain confident of landing Luka Vuskovic for two significant reasons, but TEAMtalk understands their second offer for the Croatian defender is still not enough to satisfy Tottenham Hotspur’s demands.

The Seagulls have agreed to sell Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham for a fee worth £52m (€60m, $69m) and hope to replace one World Cup defender with another, in Vuskovic.

However, after an opening bid worth £30m was rejected, Brighton are set to launch a new and improved bid – though again, it is not going to be enough to satisfy Spurs.

Sources have confirmed Brighton‘s latest proposal is worth around £45million (€52m, $60m), but Spurs continue to value the 19-year-old significantly higher and insist that any agreement must ultimately exceed the £50million (€57.5m, $66m) mark.

Indeed, sources can reveal that while Tottenham are prepared to soften their original £70million (€81m, $93m) valuation, they would still expect any package to rise substantially through bonuses and add-ons, taking the overall value much closer to that figure.

As TEAMtalk previously revealed, Vuskovic has already made it clear to Spurs that he wants to leave this summer and that Brighton is his preferred destination.

The Croatian starlet is convinced that a move to the Amex Stadium represents the best next step in his development and believes working under Fabian Hurzeler would provide the platform he needs to establish himself as a regular first-team player and help take his game to the next level.

Despite seeing the second offer knocked back, there remains growing optimism that a deal will get done, while TEAMtalk can also confirm that Spurs also have an interest in signing two other Brighton stars this summer…

Two reasons why Brighton can still sign Vuskovic from Spurs

Indeed, to underline Brighton’s belief a deal for Vuskovic will be done, TEAMtalk can confirm that the teenager has turned down approaches from several major European clubs in recent months.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have all expressed interest in the teenager, but sources close to the player insist his focus has remained firmly on Brighton.

We can also reveal that Vuskovic has held talks with Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi regarding his future.

While the Italian made clear that he values the defender highly, the player has been left unconvinced that the opportunities that would be available to him in North London would be sufficient at this stage of his career.

Those concerns over regular playing time have been a major factor behind his desire to move.

With that in mind, TEAMtalk understands Vuskovic’s camp have already agreed the broad terms of a long-term contract with Brighton and remain confident that an agreement between the clubs will eventually be reached.

There is certainly optimism on the south coast. Relations between Brighton and Tottenham are currently excellent, something demonstrated by the agreement reached earlier this week for Van Hecke’s move to North London.
