Tottenham 'enter talks' to hire league champion as Murphy suggests extraordinary manager target - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are stepping up their pursuit of their No 1 option to replace Igor Tudor as interim boss, while Danny Murphy has named a shock managerial target.

Tudor’s position at Tottenham has become untenable following the dire 3-0 home loss to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest. The Croatian is also ready to step back from the job following the very sad passing of his father, Mario.

We revealed on Tuesday that Tudor is set to leave Spurs ‘by mutual consent’.

Spurs chiefs are searching for another temporary head coach to help preserve their Premier League status, before they appoint a long-term option, with high-calibre names like Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi in the frame from the summer onwards.

We confirmed on Wednesday that Spurs have initiated contact with Austrian manager Adi Hutter, who was most recently in charge of Monaco.

As per an update from L’Equipe and football.london, this approach has resulted in concrete ‘talks’ between Spurs and Hutter.

Hutter has emerged as the frontrunner to manage Spurs for their final seven league games of the season.

The 56-year-old has good pedigree, having won league titles with Red Bull Salzburg and Young Boys, while also being named the Bundesliga Coach of the Year twice during his spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Hutter has no Premier League experience, so Spurs fans will be worried he could be Tudor 2.0.

Our sources state that Spurs are also considering other options with more knowledge of the club and English football as a whole, such as Tim Sherwood, Chris Hughton and Ryan Mason.

Former Spurs midfielder Murphy, meanwhile, thinks the north London side should pursue the ultimate relegation firefighter, Sam Allardyce.

On talkSPORT, Murphy said: “Well, right now, the one who screams at me, but he’s not Tottenham, is Sam Allardyce.

Get the inside story first by joining our TEAMtalk Facebook channel to receive the latest breaking and exclusive news straight into your Messenger inbox.

Murphy admits Allardyce move ‘unrealistic’

“He’s the man who knows how to get results, but he’s been out of the game for a while, so it’s probably unrealistic.”

Allardyce built up a great reputation of saving teams from relegation in the 2000s and 2010s, such as Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Crystal Palace.

Although, his last two jobs both resulted in relegation from the top flight, with West Brom and Leeds United respectively.

Allardyce has not managed since 2023 and has mainly been working as a pundit since, making his potential appointment even more concerning.

Next Tottenham manager: Target heads elsewhere; Pochettino speaks out

Meanwhile, a manager Spurs have previously been credited with interest in has reportedly agreed to move to Spain next.

Alan Shearer has redirected some of the blame away from Tudor, insisting the club was a ‘mess’ even before his arrival.

Pochettino has dropped his biggest hint yet that he wants to return to the Premier League.

Description

Alan Shearer has explained why Igor Tudor cannot be blamed for the entire ‘mess’ at Tottenham Hotspur, while rumoured managerial target Edin Terzic has reportedly agreed to move elsewhere.

We revealed on Tuesday morning that Tudor is set to leave Tottenham by ‘mutual consent’. The damning 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest has proven to be the final straw for the Croatian.

Tudor himself is ready to step away from the job following the death of his father, Mario.

Tottenham will soon announce Tudor’s departure as they step up the hunt for a new interim head coach.

Adi Hutter, Chris Hughton, Tim Sherwood and Ryan Mason are all under consideration for the temporary role.

In a new interview, Shearer questioned the Spurs players before stating that ‘the club was a mess before he [Tudor] got there’.

“It was really poor at the weekend again for Spurs,” he said (via the Express). “I watched the whole game, and the alarming thing for Spurs is being beaten 3-0 by a team who you’re scrapping with yourselves, particularly at home.

“And again, where was the response? Forest scored late on in the first half, and you’re thinking, OK, what have you got?

“Give us something in reply, and the second half was even worse. You can feel the edginess, and I get that. I understand that. But defensively, they’re just all over the place, and that’s more important than anything, particularly at any level of football.

“You can’t defend like that, like they did. The lack of energy or drive to stop balls coming into the box is one thing, and then the lack of fighting and scraping when people are in and around the box.

“There wasn’t anyone anywhere near Morgan Gibbs-White before his goal. The alarming thing for Spurs is, how are they going to keep a clean sheet? They’re just a mess defensively.”

Shearer continued: “It’s not Igor Tudor’s fault, but obviously, he’s picked up one point from five games, but the club was a mess before he got there.

“You’re not going to be put in his situation without the club being in a mess. As tough as it is, he hasn’t been able to have an impact on the squad and on the football club.

“Now, clearly, he’s going through a terrible, horrible time off the pitch in terms of the death of his father. It’s an impossible time for him, and Spurs are in a deep mess.”

Former Borussia Dortmund boss Terzic was considered for the Spurs job after Thomas Frank’s sacking, and there has been speculation he could re-emerge as an option following Tudor’s exit.

But according to Spanish outlet AS, Terzic is instead poised to take over at Athletic Club.

The Basque outfit need a new manager to replace Ernesto Valverde, and they have ‘signed’ Terzic.

Get the inside story first by joining our TEAMtalk Facebook channel to receive the latest breaking and exclusive news straight into your Messenger inbox.

Terzic set for LaLiga

Athletic were hopeful of bringing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola back to the club, but they have instead ‘opted for Terzic’, it is claimed.

The 43-year-old German-Croatian has emerged as the strong favourite to succeed from Valverde, who has announced he will leave at the end of the campaign.

Returning to Spurs, we can confirm that they have made formal contact with ex-Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco boss Hutter.

Although, the Austrian has been warned ‘reputational damage’ awaits him in north London.

If Spurs stay in the top flight, then they will try to snare either Roberto De Zerbi or Mauricio Pochettino to get the club back on track long-term.

Cristian Romero ‘special clause’ at Tottenham emerges as Man Utd become ‘the major problem’

Cristian Romero ‘special clause’ at Tottenham emerges as Man Utd become ‘the major problem’ - TEAMtalk
Description

Manchester United are interested in bringing Cristian Romero to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window, according to a Spanish report, which has also revealed the ‘special clause’ in the Tottenham Hotspur defender’s contract for Atletico Madrid.

With Tottenham facing the real prospect of getting relegated from the Premier League, Romero’s future has been cast into doubt.

The 2022 World Cup winner with Argentina signed a new contract with Tottenham only last summer, but TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, has reported that Spurs could sell him at the end of the season.

We reported on March 11, 2026, that Atletico Madrid are keen on a 2026 summer deal for Romero, with Tottenham ‘increasingly open’ to cashing in on the Argentina international central defender.

Fraser Fletcher reported on February 23, 2026, that Barcelona are also interested in Romero, who, we understand, ‘would be unwilling to stay and play second-tier football’ for Tottenham, should the north London club end up in the Championship.

Marca has now revealed that there is a special clause in Romero’s contract regarding Atletico.

The Spanish publication has also claimed that Manchester United are interested in Romero.

According to the report, when Romero signed a new deal with Spurs in August 2025, he included ‘a special clause in his contract for Atlético Madrid set at €60million’ (£52m, $69.4m).

Romero did so after Atletico refused to pay the €55m (£47.6m, $63.6m) that Tottenham wanted for him before he signed the new deal.

The report stated: ‘While still high, this demonstrates his willingness to allow the Rojiblancos to retain a preferential option.

‘However, his openness to the possibility of joining La Liga has also led him to extend this clause to both giants.

‘Indeed, Real Madrid, where his qualities have always been admired, are also aware of this situation, despite Cuti’s constant hints towards their eternal rivals.’

While Romero would be willing to join Atletico in the summer of 2026, according to Marca, Man Utd are ‘the major problem’ for the Spanish club in regard to a deal for Romero.

The Red Devils are said to have Romero ‘on their radar’, with the report also noting that Romero’s value would increase should he did well for Argentina at the 20226 World Cup finals in the summer.

Romero is not the only Tottenham defender on Man Utd’s radar.

Fraser Fletcher reported on February 24, 2026, that Man Utd are keen on signing Micky van de Ven from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

We understand that Van de Ven himself is open to leaving Spurs.

Van de Ven is younger than Romero, and for Man Utd, he would prove more value for money, even though Spurs want £100million (€115.6m, $134m) for him.

Latest Man Utd and Tottenham transfer news

Meanwhile, Man Utd ‘believe’ that they will miss out on a top midfielder to Manchester City.

Tottenham initiate formal ‘contact’ with top manager target as Igor Tudor set to leave ‘by mutual consent’ - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have opened contact with managerial target Adi Hutter as they prepare for a change in the dugout during the international break, TEAMtalk understands.

The 56-year-old Austrian coach, who has been out of work since leaving Monaco last October, is understood to be interested in the role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With Igor Tudor’s interim spell producing no Premier League wins and the club sliding perilously close to the relegation zone, Spurs’ hierarchy are ready to act swiftly.

Recent heavy defeats, including a damaging home loss to Nottingham Forest, have left fans and pundits questioning whether Tudor can steer the side to safety.

My colleague, Graeme Bailey, exclusively revealed yesterday that Tudor is expected to leave Spurs ‘by mutual consent‘ in the coming days, giving the board breathing space during the international window to finalise a replacement.

Hutter has emerged as a serious contender. Reports from Germany earlier today claimed that ‘no talks’ had taken place with Hutter, but we can reveal an update on the situation.

Well-placed sources indicate that initial approaches have now been made to Hutter in order to gauge his availability.

Hutter lined up as potential Tudor replacement at Spurs

Hutter brings a wealth of experience from top European leagues. He enjoyed notable success with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was twice named Bundesliga Coach of the Year,

Ne also impressed at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Young Boys – winning Swiss titles – and Red Bull Salzburg. His spell at Monaco saw the club secure strong Champions League qualification before his departure.

Known for an energetic, high-pressing style often likened to elements of Jürgen Klopp or Thomas Tuchel, Hutter could bring the intensity many believe is missing from the current Spurs squad.

While sources suggest discussions remain at an early stage rather than full negotiations, the Austrian is said to be open to the challenge of helping Tottenham avoid the drop.

Whether any appointment would serve as a short-term rescue mission or extend into next season remains unclear, especially if the club suffers the ignominy of relegation.

However, it’s expected to be a short term appointment before the club makes a decision in the summer. As we have reported, they are keen on bringing in Roberto De Zerbi, while former boss Mauricio Pochettino has strong admirers.

For a side boasting a proud history but now fighting for Premier League survival, Hutter represents a coach with tactical nous and the right ideas to help.

The coming weeks will be critical as Spurs seek the spark needed to climb the table. However with such a short time to get it right there is no garuntees that Hutter would be able to stop the rot.

Latest Tottenham news: Mikey Moore future / Pochettino drops hint

Meanwhile, we revealed yesterday that Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore is determined to spend another season with Rangers, and the Scottish club are desperate to keep him.

Spurs are open to a second loan in principle, but may decide to keep Moore should they be relegated to the Championship.

In other news, Pochettino said in a recent interview that he “loves England” and described it as an “ideal place” to manage, in a potential hint that he’d be open to a Tottenham return.

He also confirmed that Tottenham made contact with him while he was PSG manager, so it’s fair to assume that he remains firmly on their radar, as we have reported.

Huge next Tottenham manager update with Tudor set to leave by ‘mutual consent’ - TEAMtalk
Description

There ‘have been no concrete talks’ between Tottenham and Adi Hutter about taking over from Igor Tudor, while there is also an update on whether Roberto De Zerbi could take the Spurs job before the end of the season.

Tudor could not have asked for a worse start as Tottenham interim boss after replacing Thomas Frank earlier this year, with the Croatian losing his first four matches in charge.

There was some light relief when Spurs managed to grab a point at Liverpool before a 3-2 win at home to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

However, their 3-0 loss at home to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest has made his position untenable, with Tottenham just one point above the drop zone.

We revealed on Tuesday that Tudor is expected to leave Tottenham by mutual consent, with the club set to finally move to make a change after weeks of internal discussions.

Sources indicate that Tudor himself is ready to step away following the recent death of his father, Mario, and it is believed both parties have now aligned on a mutual parting of the ways.

TEAMtalk also revealed that former Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Hutter and ex-Tottenham defender Chris Hughton are viewed as viable options to step in.

Despite interest in Hutter, Sky Sport Germany have now claimed that there are yet to be ‘concrete talks’ between Spurs and the Austrian manager.

The report claims: ‘Contrary to reports in the English media, Sky Sport has stated that there have been no concrete talks between Hütter and Tottenham.’

De Zerbi won’t make U-turn on decision

Former Marseille and Brighton boss De Zerbi is another manager on Tottenham’s list of targets but we revealed earlier this month that the Italian will not take up a managerial role anywhere before the end of the current season.

And now Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that De Zerbi has not had a change of heart with the coach taking a break from management until the summer.

Italian journalist Di Marzio said: ‘Roberto De Zerbi won’t be returning to the helm immediately, as he intends to stay afloat, at least for this season.

‘Following his split with Marseille, with whom he reached a mutually agreed termination on February 11, rumors swirled about his future, particularly the possibility of taking over at Tottenham Hotspur.

‘For now, however, the coach prefers to wait and calmly evaluate his options at the end of the season. This isn’t a specific rejection of the English club, as other teams have also been interested in him since he was left without a job.

‘His is a confident decision, unrelated to the type of offers he’s received or the clubs that have contacted him. We won’t see him back at work until next season.

‘After winning the Europa League last season, Tottenham are having another very difficult season in the league, where they sit in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone.

‘The London club, not surprisingly, had already tried to convince De Zerbi after the dismissal of Thomas Frank.

‘The difficulties didn’t end with the arrival of Tudor, so here’s a second attempt. But the Italian coach has already decided he won’t return to the bench this season, and the reason for his refusal lies in this conviction.’

More Tottenham news: Moore wants Rangers stay, Pochettino hint

Tottenham loan star Mikey Moore has confirmed he is loving life at Rangers and would stay at Ibrox for another year if the decision were his alone.

Moore would be keen to extend his loan for another season in the Scottish Premiership but he is likely to be integrated into the Spurs squad if they are relegated.

USA head coach Mauricio Pochettino has dropped a big hint that he is ready to return to English football after the World Cup amid links with a return to Tottenham.

There is growing anxiety in the Tottenham fanbase that they could never see prospect Luka Vuskovic play for the club if they are relegated into the Championship.

The 19-year-old Croatian centre-back has numerous suitors all over Europe, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and Tottenham could have to cash in on him if they drop down a division.

Man Utd closing on deal with ‘X-factor’ midfielder as ‘genuine’ interest in Tottenham standout emerges

Man Utd closing on deal with 'X-factor' midfielder as 'genuine' interest in Tottenham standout emerges - TEAMtalk
Description

Reputed transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is claiming that Manchester United are closing in on a significant midfield signing boost, while TEAMtalk can reveal ‘genuine’ Red Devils interest in an impressive Tottenham Hotspur star.

United are currently well-placed to secure a top-five finish that should secure a return to Champions League football next season, a factor that’s expected to significantly boost the warchest of whoever is leading the team into the 2026/27 campaign.

Interim Man Utd boss Michael Carrick has done himself no harm, having chalked up seven wins in 10 games in charge, while his selection decisions have largely been spot on – including bringing the likes of Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo back into the fold, with both players primed to sign new contracts at Old Trafford.

Romano confirms Mainoo deal is ‘close’

The 20-year-old is expected to commit his long-term future at Old Trafford with a deal that will run until 2031, according to Romano’s post on X.

Negotiations which have been ongoing since January are ‘close’ to completion, with the club ‘optimistic’ of sealing a deal for a player who is back in the England reckoning ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

It’s reported that securing Mainoo’s long-term future has been labeled a ‘priority’ for INEOS, with the player still one of the club’s lowest-earning performers at around £20,000 per week – something the club are looking to rectify.

The proposed new deal is ever more remarkable given where Mainoo’s career was at while Ruben Amorim was still in charge at Old Trafford.

Indeed, the appointment of Carrick as caretaker boss in January has now emerged as a pivotal point in Mainoo’s career, with the midfielder immediately being restored to the starting XI in a change of formation and direction for the Red Devils.

Speaking about Mainoo back in February, former United midfielder Nicky Butt said: “I think with Kobbie, the only question isn’t his talent, it’s: can he get box to box?

“When he plays in a three, he doesn’t need to go box to box. He’s got that power and that pace to get past someone with ease. That’s a big X-factor.”

Indeed, Mainoo has now looked back since Carrick showed faith in the youngster, and now that bumper new deal appears to be just around the corner.

United have ‘genuine’ interest in Tottenham star

Our sources can reveal that Manchester United have genuine interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Archie Gray this summer, with the midfielder almost certain to leave in the event of relegation, although they are not the only club keen on his signature.

The 20-year-old has been one of the few bright spots in a dismal domestic campaign for Spurs, showcasing his ability to play in numerous positions.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, both at home and on the continent. And while sources can confirm that the former Leeds star is a player of concrete summer interest to United, they are far from the only side keen.

To that end, sources have stated that Borussia Dortmund are growing increasingly keen on a move for the England Under-21 midfielder themselves and will make their move if Tottenham end up in the Championship.

Having previously signed both Bellingham brothers, along with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jamie Gittens, the Bundesliga outfit are ready to sell their project to Gray as well and are confident they can convince him to swap London for Dortmund come the summer.

Much of Gray’s fate is interlinked with that of his club. If Tottenham do stay up they will be in a strong position to kep Gray, especailly when he is not actively seeking an exit.

However, if relegation ensues, then there is every chance of a sale in the region of around £45 million to £50m (up to €58m, $67m).

Carrick permanent job hopes soar

A trusted source has given a significant update on Michael Carrick’s chances of becoming the next permanent Manchester United head, although the Red Devils are also considering an approach for a world-class alternative.

United currently sit in third place in the Premier League under Carrick, who has chalked up seven wins and only one defeat in 10 games in caretaker charge at Old Trafford.

Carrick’s side have a great chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, which would bring crucial revenue flooding into Old Trafford ahead of what’s expected to be another busy summer of ins and outs.

Getting United back into the top level of European football would be some achievement for a club that was languishing under Ruben Amorim, and Sky Sports have provided an update on the Red Devils’ manager search.

They state that it will be ‘very hard’ for INEOS to look beyond Carrick for the permanent role if he earns a top-five finish, which is expected to be enough for Champions League football.

They add that United chiefs ‘have not made contact with any other candidates’, as things stand, although if they do change that approach and opt for someone else, it will be a coach with ‘stature and experience’, following the failed Amorim experiment.

The Independent’s chief football writer, Miguel Delaney, revealed on Monday that United are poised to contact Luis Enrique amid heightening talk he could leave PSG this summer.

There can be no arguing that Enrique would be a spectacular appointment at Old Trafford, having won the quadruple with PSG last season.

Elsewhere, the likes of Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann and Oliver Glasner are all thought to be on United’s shortlist, too.

Rangers in dreamland as standout Tottenham star eyes Ibrox switch but deal hinges on crucial factor - TEAMtalk
Description

Mikey Moore has confirmed he is loving life at Ibrox and would stay at Rangers for another year if the decision were his alone, but the final call rests firmly with Tottenham Hotspur, and one scenario could make a deal impossible.

The 18-year-old Spurs loanee has been a revelation since arriving in Glasgow last summer, particularly thriving under the guidance of manager Danny Rohl.

In recent weeks, Moore has delivered a string of impressive performances, delighting the Ibrox faithful with his pace, skill and eye for goal.

The winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, has notched six goals and three assists in 40 appearances for Rangers this term, and is improving week on week.

After another standout display in Rangers’ 4-1 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday, the England youth international opened up on his future.

Moore said he has “loved every single second” of his time in Scotland and described Rangers as a “special club” that now holds a special place in his heart.

Sources close to the player indicate that, should the opportunity arise, Moore would be keen to extend his loan for the 2026/27 season. However, his destiny depends on Tottenham’s fortunes in the Premier League.

Rangers initiate talks with Tottenham over new deal

Tottenham are currently embroiled in a tense relegation battle, sitting just one point above the drop zone with just a handful of games remaining.

Should they suffer the unthinkable and be relegated to the Championship, Moore is expected to be integrated into the first-team squad next term as they seek an immediate return to the top flight.

Conversely, if Tottenham manage to secure survival, the club is understood to be open to sending the youngster out on loan once more to continue his development, as we have consistently reported.

In that scenario, Rangers are in pole position to secure his services for another campaign, with no purchase option included in the original deal.

Danny Rohl has made no secret of his desire to keep Moore at Ibrox, describing him as a key player who enjoys his football and is adored by the supporters.

The German-born coach has already initiated the board into conversations with Tottenham regarding a potential extension, and the club hierarchy share his enthusiasm.

For now, Moore remains focused on helping Rangers push for honours in the closing stages of the season. His form has turned him into a firm favourite, and the prospect of another year in Glasgow has fans dreaming of extended magic on the flanks.

Danny Rohl makes feelings clear on Mikey Moore

Rangers boss Rohl has also had his say on the situation, making clear in a recent interview that he is very keen on keeping Moore for next term, and confirming that talks have been held over his future.

“I think conversations are always there, but we know when Mikey performed like this, you can see Mikey enjoys playing for Rangers,” Rohl said.

“The fans love him, I like him, he’s a key player. I think there’s a lot of good things where we could go again together, but we know he’s still not our player, let’s work in the next couple of weeks in all those directions.

“But the most important thing is that we bring good results in the next seven games.”

Next Tottenham manager: Spurs on high alert as Mauricio Pochettino drops biggest Premier League return hint yet

Tottenham on high alert as Mauricio Pochettino drops biggest Premier League return hint yet - TEAMtalk
Description

USA head coach Mauricio Pochettino appears to have dropped the biggest hint yet that he is ready for a return to English football after the World Cup, at a time when Tottenham Hotspur are close to replacing interim manager Igor Tudor.

The Argentine managed Spurs between 2014 and 2019, taking the north London club to the Champions League final along the way in his final full campaign while also securing their highest-ever Premier League finish during the 2016/2017 season.

Pochettino was eventually sacked after a poor start to the 2019/20 campaign and, after stints at PSG and Chelsea, he is now preparing to lead USA in a home World Cup.

However, the 54-year-old, who has long been touted for a return to Tottenham, has once again hinted at unfinished business at the club while also reiterating his love for English football in general.

Speaking to French publication L’Equipe, in a first interview in France since he departed the capital in 2022, Pochettino said: “I love the country [England], its culture, the football culture.

“For anyone with a competitive spirit who wants to measure themselves against others and test their abilities, it’s the ideal place – you have to constantly give your best.”

Pochettino was also asked if Spurs had contacted him about a return after his first six months in Paris, to which he revealed: “Not just Tottenham. Other very big clubs too. When that six-month season ended, there was a bit of… Well, with this whole COVID situation, the club situation created instability. In every area.

“There was a period of change, uncomfortable situations, situations that… That didn’t give the impression that it was possible to work in a stable environment, like the one we have today.

“I enjoyed my experience at PSG. But I had other options, which I shared with the club, but they chose not to listen to any of them.”

As for a return to a Spurs side trying to avoid slipping into the second tier of English football for the first time in almost 50 years, the issue remains that Pochettino can only do that after the World Cup has finished in July.

That does not help the club now, as they prepare to part company with Tudor after his disastrous stint in charge, which includes just one win in eight games in all competitions and five Premier League defeats in six outings.

Our sources have revealed that, behind the scenes, Spurs have been working extensively on potential replacements and we understand that a preferred direction has already been identified, with sources confirming some intriguing options for this season.

Tottenham in panic mode as two Euro heavyweights plot devastating moves for standout 19y/o - TEAMtalk
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans face growing anxiety that they may never witness Luka Vuskovic in a prominent first-team role at the club, amid mounting relegation fears and intense interest from Europe’s elite.

The 19-year-old Croatian centre-back has shone brightly on loan at Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga this season, making 24 appearances, scoring five goals and earning rave reviews for his commanding presence.

Standing at 6ft 4in, Vuskovic has showcased exceptional composure on the ball, aerial dominance and set-piece threat, quickly establishing himself as one of the most coveted young defenders on the continent.

Sources indicate major concern within Tottenham circles that, should the club suffer the ignominy of relegation to the Championship, supporters could be deprived of seeing the highly-rated prospect feature regularly in north London.

With his contract running until 2030, Tottenham still view him as a key part of their long-term plans, but the club’s perilous league position has altered the landscape dramatically.

Spurs sit 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone after a dismal run of form that has extended their winless streak. A drop to the second tier would represent a historic low for the club and could prompt Vuskovic to seek top-flight football elsewhere.

Both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are huge admirers of the defender, with sources describing him as a player who would have “plenty of top options” if Spurs are relegated.

Huge interest in Tottenham sensation

Bayern view Vuskovic as a potential long-term solution in defence, while Dortmund appreciate his youthful profile and technical qualities that align with their rebuilding ethos.

Barcelona continue to monitor developments closely, too, though they remain cautious on spending.

Hamburger SV are eager to extend the loan, yet Tottenham’s hierarchy insist they intend to reintegrate Vuskovic next season – provided they remain in the Premier League.

Should relegation occur, however, the summer transfer window could ignite a bidding war, leaving fans worried they may only glimpse the Croatian talent in a Spurs shirt via fleeting cameos or not at all.

Adi Hutter should reject the chance to manage Tottenham Hotspur once Igor Tudor is sacked, according to a pundit, while we can confirm which other names are in the mix for the interim job.

TEAMtalk exclusively revealed on Tuesday morning that Tudor is set to leave Tottenham ‘by mutual consent’. Tottenham had been considering a change in the weeks leading up to their titanic relegation clash with Nottingham Forest, and that 3-0 defeat was the final straw.

We understand that Tudor himself is ready to leave the role following the recent death of his father, Mario.

Our sources have confirmed that Austrian manager Hutter is under strong consideration at Tottenham.

Former TEAMtalk reporter Rudy Galetti was the first to reveal Spurs’ interest in Hutter, before it was backed up by The Telegraph.

The 56-year-old, twice a Bundesliga Coach of the Year, has been out of work since his sacking by Monaco in October.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, European football expert Andy Brassell explained why Hutter should avoid joining Spurs.

“Well, he’s a good coach in the right environment, and he’s had some good moments at Eintracht Frankfurt and Monaco,” Brassell said.

“But, who really would change things at this point?

“I can’t see what particular element of him would recommend him to the situation at Spurs, and why he’d want to damage his reputation doing this.

“I’m always very skeptical of this, either on one hand he knows the club, or he has no experience of the Premier League. It’s just about the situation and the temperament to deal with that situation.

“Even though Tudor was left field, there was a lot to recommend him. I think he’s gone in there and realised, ‘Oh my god, this is way bigger than anything I expected.'”

We can reveal that Chris Hughton and Tim Sherwood are two surprise options Spurs are considering to replace Tudor for the rest of the season.

Both have strong connections with Spurs, but they are not exactly coveted names right now.

Hughton, Sherwood not inspiring names

Hughton has not managed in the Premier League since 2019, while he was last in charge of the Ghana national team.

Sherwood, meanwhile, has mainly been a pundit since leaving his role as Swindon Town’s director of football in June 2017.

We understand Ryan Mason has also been discussed internally at Spurs. Mason has acted as Spurs’ caretaker manager on numerous occasions previously, most recently in 2023.

Should one of these managers keep Spurs in the Premier League, then they will look to appoint a big name this summer to get their project back on track.

Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino are both leading contenders for the job long-term.
