Manchester City have informed Savinho he can leave the club this summer, with TEAMtalk understanding the Premier League champions have instead decided to prioritise tying Jeremy Doku down to a new long-term contract following his outstanding finish to the campaign.

Brazilian winger Savinho only signed an improved deal last summer after attracting strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who explored a potential move as part of their attacking rebuild.

Savinho remains contracted at the Etihad until 2031, but sources have now confirmed to TEAMtalk that Man City are open to his departure as part of wider plans being shaped behind the scenes by sporting director Hugo Viana.

TEAMtalk understands Man City no longer view the 22-year-old as a central long-term figure within the club’s attacking structure and have now communicated that stance directly to the player and his representatives.

That decision has immediately alerted several clubs across Europe, and TEAMtalk can reveal Tottenham are once again among the sides showing strong interest.

Sources close to the situation indicate Spurs remain huge admirers of Savinho’s profile, and the player himself is also understood to be very open to the idea of a move to north London.

Tottenham believe the Brazilian’s directness, creativity and ability to operate across multiple attacking positions would fit well within their evolving squad plans ahead of next season.

Man City choose Doku over Savinho

Savinho arrived at Man City amid huge excitement after impressing during his development spell within the City Football Group structure and was widely viewed as one of Brazil’s brightest young attacking talents.

However, competition for attacking places at the Etihad has remained fierce and Man City’s hierarchy have now made a significant strategic choice regarding which wide player they want to build around moving forward.

TEAMtalk understands that choice is Jeremy Doku.

The Belgian international’s future had carried some uncertainty earlier in the season after an inconsistent spell, but his form during the final months of the campaign dramatically altered internal thinking at the club.

Doku’s explosive performances and growing influence convinced Man City’s hierarchy that he should remain a core long-term figure under the club’s next phase.

Sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Man City have already informed Doku’s camp they want to secure a new contract before the beginning of next season.

The 23-year-old is understood to be fully prepared to commit his future to the club and follow the example set by key attacking stars such as Erling Haaland and Phil Foden by signing a long-term extension.

TEAMtalk understands Hugo Viana has played a major role in shaping the club’s current attacking strategy and believes Doku’s ceiling remains extremely high within the system Man City are building for the coming years.

As a result, Savinho now finds himself available despite only recently extending his stay.

For Tottenham and several other interested clubs, that development is viewed as a major market opportunity.

And with Savinho open to a fresh challenge and Man City willing to sanction his departure, TEAMtalk understands the situation is expected to develop rapidly in the coming weeks.

Tottenham are reportedly considering the signing of a Manchester City icon who will bring one thing Roberto De Zerbi desperately wants in his squad.

De Zerbi engineered Premier League survival in his four Spurs games so far. The north London club were two points ahead of West Ham at the end of the season, with the Hammers taking the final relegation place.

The Italian boss is now looking to the future, with some big players, such as Savinho – who was a target before he was in charge – on the agenda.

But he’s not the only Manchester City man in sight, with the departing John Stones also a target.

Indeed, the Independent reports the six-time Premier League champion is one of the centre-backs being considered by Tottenham.

It’s suggested Stones, who captained City at times and was a vital part of their squad for years, would add some badly-needed leadership.

Tottenham have competition for new leader

Should Cristian Romero leave, as is expected, with Guglielmo Vicario also failing to inspire last season, Tottenham will be a couple of players down from their leadership group.

They still have Micky van de Ven, with the report stating he wants to stay, while James Maddison at full fitness should play a large part as one of the club’s most passionate players.

But Tottenham being able to add Stones to that group could be tough, with another couple of clubs in the mix for him.

TEAMtalk has long been aware of interest from Everton, while Bayern Munich are intently focussed on him, too, with his former team-mate Vincent Kompany a fan of what he can offer.

Tottenham are reportedly ready to let Bundesliga Team of the Season star Luka Vuskovic leave on yet another loan next season, with two new defenders in view.

Spurs had their worst season in the modern era in 2025/26. They finished just two points off relegation, having burned through two managers as their campaign slipped away from them.

On the flip side, Vuskovic, owned by Tottenham but on loan at Hamburg, had potentially the best season he could ask for.

Playing his first season in a top-five European league, the 19-year-old centre-back was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season, having scored six goals – the most of any defender in the league.

He might already have outgrown Spurs had they been relegated, and there were suggestions that he could slot straight into the side if not.

But the Independent reports that Tottenham are planning to offer Vuskovic a new deal before he’s expected to head back on loan to Hamburg.

Vuskovic is clearly ready

It feels that Vuskovic is indeed ready to play in Tottenham’s starting XI, having been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season as a 19-year-old in his very first campaign there.

Surely the point of the loan was to give him playing experience before he makes it into Tottenham’s side.

That said, Micky van de Ven reportedly wants to stay, and Spurs have some other defenders in their sights.

As such, they may deem it better for Vuskovic’s development that he goes back out on loan somewhere he can clearly have more success.

Though he’s surely shown he could be as capable as whoever Tottenham bring in, the hierarchy don’t seem to feel the same yet.

Spurs’ defensive targets

The report states that Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke and Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi are defensive targets at Spurs.

If they are to lose Cristian Romero, as is expected, one of their targets would likely fill the gap he leaves.

Vuskovic is surely seen as a player capable of doing so in the future, but the club don’t want to rush him into the side.

Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly planning to pick former side Brighton apart, with three Seagulls players on his shortlist for his first Tottenham transfer window.

De Zerbi kept Spurs afloat in the Premier League in the seven games he’s managed so far. Now he has a full summer to ensure his side aren’t in the same dangerous position a year from now.

There have been reports of interest in multiple players, and it seems the boss is planning to go big with a raid on his former club, Brighton.

Indeed, the Independent reports De Zerbi is hoping to raid the Seagulls for Carlos Baleba, Jean Paul van Hecke and Bart Verbruggen.

That trio would massively strengthen the spine of the Tottenham side, and De Zerbi is said to see them as ‘his players.’

Essentially, that means he feels the players can quickly get on board with his style, having played under him previously.

How De Zerbi used his trio

Van Hecke played 50 games under De Zerbi at Brighton, Baleba 37 and Verbruggen 27.

The Italian boss is clearly a fan of all three, with the centre-back in the top 10 most frequently-used players during his time at Brighton, while he paid £23.3million for Baleba and £17.3m for Verbruggen – also both in his top 10 most expensive signings ever.

Baleba’s value has risen markedly since then, proving De Zerbi’s decision to sign him, and at such a low fee, a good one.

Indeed, he’s been mooted as a £100million man now, which could make him the trickiest potential signing.

But if any of the Seagulls are signed by Tottenham, they’ll join as experienced players who will seamlessly slot into the starting XI.

Spurs’ likely new centre-back partnership

Whatever happens in the summer, Tottenham are likely to have a new starting centre-back partnership. They are said to want to sign Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth as well as Brighton’s Van Hecke.

If they land both, one might not be an immediate starter, as Micky van de Ven reportedly wants to stay.

But it looks evident that Cristian Romero will be leaving, amid heavy links to Atletico Madrid.

The centre-back returned to Argentina in the week of the final game of the season and wasn’t planning to watch Tottenham’s crunch last game, showing his feeling towards the club and his disregard for their fate.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to become one of the first major departures from West Ham following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, with TEAMtalk understanding that Tottenham and Everton are among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation.

The 28-year-old only arrived at the London Stadium last year, but sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that West Ham are now prepared to listen to offers as they begin a significant squad rebuild ahead of life back in the Championship.

Wan-Bissaka still has five years remaining on his current contract, but like many players within the squad, his wages are due to reduce substantially following relegation.

TEAMtalk understands West Ham’s hierarchy are nevertheless keen to move some of the club’s larger contracts off the wage bill and Wan-Bissaka is viewed internally as one of the most realistic high-profile exits due to the level of interest emerging in his situation.

Sources indicate the Hammers would likely accept a fee in the region of £10million, largely because any buying club would also be taking on a sizeable salary package.

That valuation is already being viewed by several Premier League sides as a potentially excellent market opportunity given Wan-Bissaka’s reputation and experience at the highest level.

Despite occasional criticism over his attacking output earlier in his career, the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United defender remains widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s elite one-versus-one defensive full-backs.

Tottenham, Everton among Wan-Bissaka suitors

TEAMtalk can confirm former West Ham manager David Moyes is among the admirers of Wan Bissaka.

Everton boss Moyes remains a huge fan of Wan-Bissaka’s qualities and would be interested in bringing him into his next project should the opportunity become realistic.

As we have consistently reported, Everton are prioritising the addition of a new right-back, and the chance to snap Wan-Bissaka up for £10million could prove too tempting to ignore.

However, competition for the defender is intensifying rapidly.

TEAMtalk understands Tottenham, Newcastle United, Fulham and Sunderland have all expressed interest in the DR Congo international ahead of the summer transfer window.

Tottenham are believed to appreciate Wan-Bissaka’s defensive reliability and versatility, while Newcastle continue exploring options capable of strengthening depth across their backline ahead of another demanding season.

Fulham are also attentive to the situation as they assess experienced Premier League-proven additions this summer, while Sunderland’s interest reflects the club’s ambition following their successful return to the top flight.

Wan-Bissaka’s profile has also risen internationally after helping establish himself within DR Congo’s national setup and TEAMtalk understands he is expected to travel to the upcoming World Cup finals with the Leopards.

That international exposure is only expected to further increase attention surrounding his future over the coming weeks.

For now, West Ham are preparing for major change both on and off the pitch following relegation and Wan-Bissaka appears increasingly likely to be one of the first senior names to move on.

Tottenham Hotspur have ‘reactivated talks’ for Savinho, according to Fabrizio Romano, and he is not the only Manchester City player Roberto De Zerbi could sign.

Tottenham offered £60million for Savinho last summer, and the winger was understood to be keen on the move so he could pick up more game time. However, City rejected the bid as they decided to keep Savinho as an important player for the future.

In October, Savinho penned a new six-year contract at the Etihad. The Brazilian finished the campaign with just four goals in 36 appearances though, as he was regularly rotated due to fierce competition for places from the likes of Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo.

Tottenham believe they can convince Savinho to leave City by opening fresh discussions, with Romano posting: ‘Understand Tottenham have now reactivated talks to sign Savinho this summer.

‘Initial discussions underway after last summer deal was on, then collapsed as Man City decided not to sell. Savio, open to the move. Newcastle also monitoring him.’

The Daily Mail add that Spurs have ‘rekindled their interest in a £60m move for Savinho’, viewing him as a key part of De Zerbi’s summer ‘rebuild’ after narrowly avoiding relegation.

The north London side have also ‘enquired about RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande’, though he ‘is expected to choose between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain’.

The report claims Spurs could negotiate a double deal with City as goalkeeper James Trafford is ‘firmly on their radar’, too.

Tottenham target second Man City star

Trafford rejoined City last summer in a £30m deal but has had a hugely frustrating campaign as Gianluigi Donnarumma replaced him just a month later.

Trafford would be open to joining Spurs if he is guaranteed regular starts. We revealed in April that current Spurs No 1 Guglielmo Vicario has already agreed personal terms with Inter Milan.

Should Trafford join, then he would battle Antonin Kinsky for the No 1 spot. Kinsky’s Spurs career appeared over after his howlers against Atletico Madrid, only for him to miraculously recover.

City value Trafford in the region of £30m, but they could try to make a small profit on him.

Spurs chiefs acknowledge that a lack of leadership is one of several reasons why they came close to relegation, and they intend to fix the issue this summer.

This is why Spurs are chasing both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

Spurs have beaten Liverpool to Senesi as a ‘verbal agreement’ has been struck.

Tottenham still have work to do to get an agreed transfer over the line after Juventus thundered in at the eleventh hour with an ‘offer’ of their own, according to numerous sources.

Tottenham retained their Premier League status on the final day of the season, though on the back of successive 17th-placed finishes, there’s a clear need for major change to Roberto De Zerbi’s playing personnel.

Spurs have determined the group requires a fresh injection of character and leadership, and the arrivals of those with a winning mentality wouldn’t go amiss too.

To that end, Spurs agreed in priniciple the free agent signing of iconic Liverpool left-back, Andy Robertson, earlier in 2026. The deal was contingent on Tottenham avoiding relegation, which they have.

Accordingly, reporter Ben Jacobs wasn’t alone in claiming Tottenham were ‘set to sign’ the Scot, 32, whose contract at Anfield is up on June 30.

But late on Monday night, news broke of Juventus launching an attempt to hijack the deal and divert Robertson to Turin.

Juventus launch Andy Robertson transfer hijack

Trusted Italian reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed Juventus have ‘made inquiries and moves’ for Robertson. Di Marzio then declared Juve have ‘made an offer’.

Perhaps crucially, the journalist did stress Tottenham are still in the driving seat and ‘maintain priority’.

Taking to X, Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs both gave their take on the developing situation.

Romano wrote: “Tottenham have been in advanced talks for weeks with Andy Robertson over free transfer, deal close.

“Juventus have also entered the race and trying to hijack the move with a proposal. Decision up to Robertson now.”

Jacobs stated: “Juventus made a hijack move today to try and sign Andy Robertson, as @DiMarzio called.

“Talks have taken place to understand the conditions of a transfer. Juventus are now weighing up whether to make a formal offer.

“Spurs already have an agreement in principle with Robertson, but nothing has been signed yet.

“Deal was put in place after the January window shut, and subject to Spurs staying up.”

Tottenham want Robertson and Marcos Senesi

All being well, Spurs will repel Juve’s hijack attempt and sign Robertson. However, until Robertson puts pen to paper, they cannot rest easy just yet.

The summer transfer window opens on June 15 and that’s when new signings can be officially registered.

A similar deal that should cross the line involves Bournemouth centre-back, Marcos Senesi.

Like Robertson, he pre-agreed a move to Tottenham via free agency if they retained their Premier League status.

Liverpool had looked into hijacking that move over the past few weeks, but the signs still point towards the Argentina international joining Spurs.

Tottenham are not only signing Andy Robertson from Liverpool, but they’ve also beaten the Reds to an agreement with an experienced Argentina international, according to two sources.

Tottenham survived the ultimate scare on Sunday when narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship. Joao Palhinha eased the nerves in north London with the game’s only goal, and a rare clean sheet meant West Ham’s 3-0 victory over Leeds United did not matter. The Hammers dropped a division, and difficult decisions must now be made on many of their best players like Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen, to name just two.

It’s a rosier outlook at Spurs, though after successive 17th-placed finishes, there’s a clear need for major changes to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad.

It’s no secret Tottenham’s hierarchy believe there’s a need to add greater experience, character and leadership to their squad.

Spurs don’t lack for talent in those available to De Zerbi right now, but it’s hard to dispute there’s a mental fragility and when things get tough, the team usually fold.

As such, Spurs pre-agreed the free agent signing of Andy Robertson earlier in 2026. The Liverpool icon, 32, has won all there is to win on Merseyside, but is moving on from Anfield and his arrival at Tottenham hinged on avoiding relegation.

With that goal now achieved, Ben Jacobs has confirmed Spurs will bring Robertson on board.

The Scot will also be joined in north London by another veteran Premier League defender – Marcos Senesi.

Tottenham beat Liverpool to Marcos Senesi signing

The Argentina international is leaving Bournemouth also via free agency. His situation was the same as Robertson’s in that he agreed to sign for Tottenham if they retained their Premier League status.

And on Monday morning, both Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany and Matteo Morreto – who works closely with Fabrizio Romano – confirmed Senesi will become a Spurs player.

What’s more, Morreto also revealed Liverpool had looked into a move for the 29-year-old centre-back in ‘recent weeks’, but he’s now bound for Tottenham.

“Tottenham has verbally agreed on the signing of Marcos Senesi,” wrote Morreto on X. “There is a verbal agreement in progress between the parties, and the London club is already working on a four-year contract for the Argentine defender.

“The Spurs are getting ahead of several European giants; even Liverpool showed interest in recent weeks.”

Plettenberg simply quote tweeted his prior post from April that brought news of Senesi joining Spurs this summer if they avoided relegation.

Senesi’s arrival has assumed greater significance after TEAMtalk learned Spurs are now warming to the idea of offloading Cristian Romero after his latest stunt.

Roberto De Zerbi has helped Tottenham seal a double signing to kickstart the Spurs revolution, and a report claims a star who stunned Real Madrid is wanted next.

De Zerbi worked wonders in his brief time in charge this season, and for Tottenham’s sake, it’s a good job he did. The Italian helped guide Spurs to safety on the final day of the season, with Joao Palhinha’s winner against Everton keeping the club’s heads above water and dooming West Ham to the second tier.

But after back-to-back 17th-placed finishes, clearly there is a need for major change at Tottenham this summer.

Spurs are expected to be one of the busiest clubs around, both with regards to arrivals and exits.

Regarding incomings, there’s a clear need to add stronger characters and leaders with experience to help shift the flaky mentality that pervades the club.

And in Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, that’s exactly what Tottenham are doing.

The Bournemouth centre-back, 29, and Liverpool left-back, 32, are leaving their respective clubs via free agency this summer.

Spurs previously agreed deals with both players, though whether they would actually join was always contingent on Spurs retaining their Premier League status.

With that goal now achieved, both Senesi and Robertson are expected to become summer signings one and two.

On Monday morning, trusted reporter, Ben Jacobs, confirmed Robertson is bound for north London. Around the same time, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg confirmed Senesi’s deal will go through too.

Star who humbled Real Madrid up next?

Between the sticks, the anticipation is Guglielmo Vicario will leave, with a return to Serie A now on the cards.

A move to league champions Inter Milan where Vicario would replace the outgoing Yann Sommer is expected.

TEAMtalk revealed at the back end of April that Vicario had given priority to Inter over Juventus and agreed personal terms with the club. As such, Juve have shifted their focus to Liverpool’s Alisson Becker.

A new starting goalkeeper may thus be required back at Spurs. According to a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola, Tottenham are taking a close look at Benfica’s Anatoliy Trubin.

The 24-year-old Ukraine international hit the headlines part-way through the season when remarkably scoring an injury-time goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The goal ensured Benfica defeated Real Madrid by a two-goal margin and did just enough to advance through the group phase in the final spot and qualify for the play-off round. The goal can be viewed on X here.

A Bola acknowledge Vicario’s exit is critical in this instance and stated Trubin ‘is on Tottenham’s radar’.

TEAMtalk understands Man City’s James Trafford is also one to watch with regards to Tottenham signing a new goalkeeper.

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are now ‘set’ to sign Liverpool star Andy Robertson, and another new arrival should also be confirmed soon.

Last month, Liverpool officially confirmed that Robertson would leave the Premier League giants upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this season, but it has been clear for a while that this campaign would be his last at Anfield.

Ahead of this season, the Reds bought Milos Kerkez from AFC Bournemouth as a long-term replacement for Robertson, who has had limited game time and came close to joining Tottenham in this season’s winter transfer window.

At the time, it was ruled that it would be best for Robertson to see out the season at Liverpool before parting ways on a free transfer, but it was reported in April that ‘everything is agreed’ ahead of his summer move to Spurs.

Tottenham’s fight for Premier League survival was the only thing in the way of this deal from happening, as the transfer would inevitably fall through if they suffered relegation to the Championship.

But, thankfully for the north London side, they beat Everton 1-0 on the final day of the 2025/26 campaign to secure their survival, and now journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that the Robertson transfer is set to go through.

Second Spurs summer signing to follow shortly as Robertson bids classy farewell

Jacobs said on X: ‘Andy Robertson set to join Spurs now their Premier League status is secure.

‘Agreement in principle already in place.’

Earlier this year, Tottenham struck a similar ‘agreement’ to sign soon-to-be free agent Marcos Senesi from AFC Bournemouth, and we reported that two factors could block this deal from happening this summer.

But Spurs securing their Premier League status has removed a sizable obstacle and it should now be expected that this deal goes through in the coming weeks.

Regarding Robertson, he was one of the few big names to bid farewell to their clubs on Sunday, with Mohamed Salah, Pep Guardiola, John Stones, Bernardo Silva, Andoni Iraola and Seamus Coleman also moving on.

And Robertson reserved special praise for Guardiola and Coleman when saying his final words as a Liverpool player.

Robertson said on Sunday: For me there is two other people leaving clubs today that are pretty important.

“Pep Guardiola pushed us to completely new limits, I think both of us would agree with that. We should have won more Premier Leagues if it wasn’t for that man. What a servant to Manchester City and I wish him all the best.

“And finally Seamus Coleman. I think when I was growing up he was one of the Premier League fullbacks that was at a really high level. He was certainly a better bargain than me at £60,000.

“He’s leaving Everton and he’s been a fantastic servant for that football club. I wish him all the best as well.”
