Tottenham transfers: Spurs pushing for stunning double PSG raid as talks open for long

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered talks to sign a long-time centre-back target, currently playing alongside another major target Randal Kolo Muani at French giants PSG.

Having already signed Czech Republic Under-21 goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who impressed on debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, Spurs are looking to further bolster Ange Postecoglou’s injury-hit squad with more additions this month.

TT understands that a striker, another winger and a left-sided centre-back remain on the club’s radar, with Kolo Muani able to fill those two attacking positions – although he has played as a No.9 in limited opportunities for PSG this season.

As was reported on Thursday, Tottenham are said to be edging closer to a deal for Kolo Muani, with the France international poised to sign on loan with an obligation to buy.

The France international has fallen out of favour with PSG boss Luis Enrique, struggling to earn a starting role this season – as is also the case with centre-back Milan Skriniar.

L’Equipe reports that Spurs have offered the defender a way out of Paris by tabling another loan offer to the French giants. Enrique has preferred to use Marquinhos, Willian Pacho and Lucas Beraldo this campaign, with Skriniar making just five league appearances so far.

There is certainly no lack of interest in the Slovakian, with the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa and Turkish giants all being tipped to make a move for a player who was, at one point, considered one of the best defenders in European football while he was at Inter Milan.

Skriniar is on big wages in Paris, hence the loan-to-buy option currently being mooted, but the fact that he is left-sided and can also fill in as an emergency left-back ticks a number of boxes for Postecoglou.

Skriniar to push Romero-Van de Ven partnership

If he does sign up in north London, Skriniar would immediately provide strong competition for the first-choice partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at Tottenham.

Both players are currently sidelined with injury, with January 2024 signing Radu Dragusin having an extended run in the side alongside makeshift central defender Archie Gray.

However, Postecoglou is well aware that the centre-back position as a whole is short on numbers, despite 18-year-old Gray stepping in admirably as cover, and has been eyeing another experienced option.

The report from L’Equipe does not mention what sort of fee could be involved to sign Skriniar permanently, although his current market value is €15million (£12.5m / $15.4m) on Transfermarkt – which takes his age and the fact he has three years left to run on his contract into account.

Depending on how much longer Romero and Van de Ven are on the sidelines for, Skriniar would likely come straight into the starting XI alongside Dragusin and allow Gray to compete for his more natural defensive midfield role again.

Latest Tottenham news: Doctor gives verdict on Bentancur injury / Spurs blow in defender chase

A doctor who studied video evidence of what happened to Rodrigo Bentancur during the Carabao Cup semi-final, first leg win over Liverpool has given his theory on what forced the Tottenham midfielder to be stretchered off.

Footage of Bentancur moments before showed him doing something unusual with his jaw, swinging it from side to side, leading to speculation that it may have been a precursor for what happened next.

However, Dr Gareth Nye, a lecturer in Biomedical Science at the University of Salford, thinks there is a good chance the swinging jaw may have been unrelated. Indeed, he believes the Uruguayan may have only suffered a bad concussion, in his explanation of what happened.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign a defender Tottenham have targeted and Pep Guardiola’s side have made it clear they’ll pay the full asking price, TEAMtalk can confirm.

A doctor who studied video evidence of what happened to Rodrigo Bentancur during the Carabao Cup semi-final, first leg win over Liverpool has given his theory on what forced the Tottenham midfielder to be stretchered off.

The clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had 11 minutes added on in the first half after the Spurs star was left sprawled on the ground having stooped to try and flick on a near post corner.

Sky Sports‘ cameras kept well clear of the player as he laid on the floor, a sure sign that the incident was of a serious nature, with Ange Postecoglou bringing on Brennan Johnson as Tottenham earned a narrow lead in the tie thanks to Lucas Bergvall’s second-half strike.

Indeed, he believes the Uruguayan may have only suffered a concussion.

Bentancur posted a picture on Instagram from his hospital bed, saying: “All good, guys! Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations for the victory boys!!!” – news that will have come as a massive relief to everyone who watched the game.

Speaking following Bentancur’s statement, Dr Nye explained what he thought he could see in the footage. “I have seen a lot of the online speculation around a stroke,” he told the Daily Star. “There is no specific video evidence that definitively proves it was a stroke and no one could diagnose of what was essentially a less than two-second clip whilst the player moved his head around.”

Dr Nye thinks it is possible that reason could be far more innocent. “For example,” he continued. “He may have been stretching his jaw at the time or even trying not to yawn. There are many things which could explain the facial expressions.

“This is also supported by the fact he was conscious and talking on the pitch, remained in the dressing room for quite a while after the incident and shows no sign of facial drooping in his later Instagram post.”

Bentancur likely suffered a concussion

Dr Nye then looked more closely at the attempted header, adding: “Having watched the video slowed down, you can see he twists his head to get to the ball and as he lands on the pitch, the side of his head hits the ground with some force to the point his head bounces back up again.

“The brain is protected by the skull however in cases of trauma like this the brain actually bangs against the inside of the skull leading to bruising and as the brain is damaged it very often causes a loss of conscious, blurred vision and it can disrupt breathing patterns.

“My best guess would be Bentancur had quite a bad case of concussion and thankfully seems to be in good shape afterwards”.

Latest Tottenham news: Spurs closing in on new striker / City leading defender chase

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly on the verge of agreeing personal terms for the addition of another striker for Ange Postecoglou in what is turning into a busy January window for the north London club.

Despite getting Dominic Solanke on board over the summer, Postecoglou still wants another central attacker to ease the load on the former Bournemouth man and also skipper Son Heung-min when he asked to fill in at that position.

And the player they are being heavily backed to bring in is struggling PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani.

The France international remains of interest to a number of clubs, but Tottenham appear to be closing in on a move for the 26-year-old, with TBR Football claiming that they are now on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Kolo Muani.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign a defender Tottenham have targeted and Pep Guardiola’s side have made it clear they’ll pay the full asking price, TEAMtalk can confirm.

The report adds that Spurs are hoping to conclude a deal this week, while GIVEMESPORT recently confirmed that Kolo Muani is now keen on making a loan move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

TT, meanwhile, can confirm that Tottenham are working very hard behind the scenes to try and push a loan-to-buy deal through for the attacker, who would likely cost in the region of £55million if he did sign permanently in the summer.

However, both Manchester United and Juventus also remain keen on landing a player who has struggled for game time in Paris so far this season.

Indeed, Kolo Muani has scored just twice and added one assist in 14 games in all competitions this term – hardly the sort stats that will get fans of the aforementioned clubs jumping out of their seats. However, the Frenchman remains an explosive forward option, when at his best, and that is what the likes of Tottenham, United and Juventus will all be banking on.

Busy January ahead for Tottenham

Kolo Muani could, very quickly, become the second new signing for Tottenham so far in the winter window after the addition of young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

The 21-year-old was thrown in for his debut just days after signing a produced an impressive display as he kept a cleansheet in a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg clash in north London.

Kinsky is expected to push Guglielmo Vicario for a starting spot at Spurs when the Italian has recovered from his fractured foot, which is expected to be towards the end of February.

Tottenham are not just hunting another striker though, when it comes to their chase for Muani. TT understands they remain in the market for another centre-back who can also cover left-back, as ell as another wide player – although Muani could tick that box as well if he does come in.

Depending on what happens with Rodrigo Bentancur as well, after his horror injury against Liverpool on Wednesday evening, there could be scope for the addition of another cntral midfielder.

The Uruguay star has indicated that he is fine after being stretchered off against Arne Slot’s men, but the full nature of his issue and exactly how long he could be out remains unknown.

Latest Tottenham news: Ange eyes South American midfield ace / Spurs back in for Rashford

Tottenham have reportedly lodged an offer for a South American midfielder who is being labelled an upgrade on Yves Bissouma, as Ange Postecoglou looks to add another player to his injury-hit squad in the January transfer window.

Midfield has been a concern for Ange Postecoglou, with Bissouma in particular failing to perform consistently in the heart of Tottenham‘s engine room. Indeed the Mali international has only shown the odd flash of brilliance that was such a regular occurrence at former club Brighton.

And now a report from Italian outlet AreaNapoli, states that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has lodged an official offer for Palmeiras midfielder, Richard Rios, with the Colombian international emerging as a ‘concrete target’ in the January window.

Meanwhile, the Marcus Rashford saga has taken a new twist as Tottenham Hotspur are now considering signing the wantaway Manchester United star, it has been claimed.

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has provided an update after suffering a horror injury on the pitch during the club’s Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg win over Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The Uruguay international appeared to slam into the turf after going for a near-post header at a corner, with his arm also bending the wrong way as he landed.

Following treatment by medics inside the Liverpool box, Bentancur was stretchered off the pitch after a worrying seven-minute delay and was rushed to hospital.

Tottenham went on to record a battling 1-0 win as Lucas Bergvall scored his first goal for the club, while new keeper Antonin Kinsky was a real standout on his debut as he kept a clean sheet just a few days after officially joining the club.

Speaking after the game, Ange Postecoglou was hopeful thatBentancur would be okay following his concerning head injury, saying: “I don’t have all the information. My understanding is he is conscious and he was conscious when he got to the dressing room. We took him to hospital to get him checked over.

“It was worrying and always a concern but from what I know hopefully he will be OK.”

Late on Wednesday night, Bentancur shared an image on Instagram of him and his girlfriend smiling.

The midfielder confirmed he was “all good, guys!” with a thumbs up and then praised his teammates for their win over Liverpool, just over a fortnight on from their 6-3 drubbing by the same side in the Premier League.

Tottenham now facing anxious wait over Bentancur absence

While the seriousness of Bentancur’s injury, along with the nature of it, still remains unknown, Tottenham now face an anxious wait to see how long the 27-year-old will be on the sidelines for.

The midfielder has already missed seven games through suspension this season following his FA ban for comments made about teammate Son Heung-min.

However, when at the peak of his powers, he remains the club’s best all-round midfielder, so any further absence for Posteocoglou’s men would come as a massive blow.

Tottenham have a busy rest of the month to deal with that includes a trip to non-league Tamworth in the FA Cup this weekend, a north London derby, plus further clashes with Everton, Hoffenheim, Leicester and Elfsborg.

They will, however, have Pape Mata Sarr and James Maddison available again going forward after both were banned for the first leg of the Liverpool clash.

Latest Tottenham news: Shock Rashford links re-emerge / City set to win defender race

The Marcus Rashford saga has taken a new twist as Tottenham Hotspur are now considering signing the wantaway Manchester United star, it has been claimed.

Rashford has publicly admitted he is on the hunt for a ‘new challenge’ so he can rejuvenate his career away from boyhood club Man Utd, with United open to offers for the winger as Ruben Amorim is preparing for life without him.

David Ornstein has stated that the most likely solution in January will be an initial loan as interested clubs will struggle to meet Rashford’s wages, which are worth £325,000 a week.

AC Milan, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have been viewed as the main contenders for the Englishman in the past two days. But according to an update from the Daily Mail, United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham ‘want to take him on loan’ this month.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are advancing in talks to sign a defender Tottenham have targeted and Pep Guardiola’s side have made it clear they’ll pay the full asking price, TEAMtalk can confirm.

The Marcus Rashford saga has taken a new twist as Tottenham Hotspur are now considering signing the wantaway Manchester United star, it has been claimed.

Rashford has publicly admitted he is on the hunt for a ‘new challenge’ so he can rejuvenate his career away from boyhood club Man Utd, where there is too much pressure on his shoulders. United are open to offers for the winger as Ruben Amorim is preparing for life without him, while his sale would also go down on their books as pure profit.

Tottenham may be the second-highest scorers in England’s top flight, but manager Ange Postecoglou is on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

Rashford has been identified as a player who can help fire Spurs up the Prem standings and ‘rescue their season’.

The 27-year-old has proven himself to be a lethal performer at the top level when on his best form. In the 2022-23 campaign he managed a hugely impressive 30 goals in 56 games, which remains his best season to date.

Unfortunately, though, Rashford has not been able to replicate that form since. Both he and United believe this year is the best time for them to part ways.

While Spurs have a better chance of meeting the player’s wage demands than his suitors on the continent, it would be a big shock if this move went through.

United will not want to strengthen a ‘Big Six’ rival when letting Rashford leave. Plus, the forward would further tarnish his reputation among United supporters by heading to Spurs.

The move cannot be ruled out altogether though, as stranger things have happened in football.

Rashford to decide between England, Italy or Germany

Earlier on Wednesday, it emerged that Milan have stepped up their interest in Rashford by launching a loan-to-buy offer for him.

Rashford’s representatives have also flown to Italy to discuss a move with Milan chiefs. They are expected to hold talks with Juve and Dortmund officials in the coming days too. It remains to be seen whether Spurs will be added to their list of meetings.

Ornstein has hinted that Rashford could be brought back into Amorim’s squad if no transfer goes through this month.

As things stand, however, United are pushing to offload him to make room on their wage bill for a new arrival, potentially Randal Kolo Muani.

While Saudi Arabia remains an option for Rashford, he would ideally like to continue playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues when departing United.

Meanwhile, there has been an update on the future of Joshua Zirkzee amid his underwhelming start to life at United.

The Dutch striker has been weighing up whether to leave United for Juventus after he was booed off the pitch during the defeat to Newcastle.

But reports claim that Zirkzee’s team-mates are urging him to stay and fight for his ‘dream’ of starring in the Prem.

If Zirkzee stays though, he is at risk of falling further down the pecking order.

United have made an enquiry as they look to sign Kolo Muani before Spurs.

The Red Devils would also love to win the race for Viktor Gyokeres, but Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will now provide them with competition for him.

Tottenham have reportedly lodged an offer for a South American midfielder who is being labelled an upgrade on Yves Bissouma, as Ange Postecoglou looks to add another player to his injury-hit squad in the January transfer window.

The north London outfit have already landed young Czech Republic goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and are also reported to be in the running to sign PSG attacker Randal Kolo Muani.

However, midfield has also been a concern for Ange Postecoglou, with Bissouma in particular failing to perform consistently in the heart of Tottenham‘s engine room.

At this stage, there is no mention of the nature of the bid or the money involved, although Rios reportedly has a €100million (£83m / $103m) release clause in his existing contract at the Brazilian club.

It is reported, however, that Palmeiras have rejected Tottenham’s initial offer ahead of their involvement in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, while TT previously revealed Rios as a target for both Everton and Manchester United.

Whether Spurs can produce a fresh approach to secure a more immediate arrival remains to be seen, with the in-demand talent tipped to provide a significant upgrade to their midfield.

Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur have been the main players utilised in the N0.6 role for Postecoglou’s side, but neither have shown they are capable of protecting a vulnerable backline – especially at a time when first-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven remain on the sidelines.

Rios showing his class in Brazil

Rios, who has chalked up 13 goal involvements for Palmeiras in 102 games, has been described by data analyst Ben Mattinson as a “ball-carrying machine” who would slot in ahead of Bissouma in Tottenham’s midfield.

The Colombian can operate in a holding role or as a box-to-box No.8 and at 6ft 2in is the sort of player able to dominate games from the middle of the park, something Postecoglou does not currently have at his disposal. Indeed, it could be argued he is the sort of midfielder Spurs have not had since the outstanding Mousa Dembele when he was at the peak of his powers under Mauricio Pochettino.

Rios would be a perfect foil for the likes of creative forces Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison and add to midfield competition that also includes the likes Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray – when the latter is finally released from his emergency centre-back duties.

It now just remains to be seen whether or not Levy can tempt Palmeiras into doing a deal this month, or whether Tottenham will be forced to wait until after the FIFA Club World Cup has finished.

Latest Tottenham news: Ornstein reveals Kolo Muani plan / Man City to hijack centre-back deal

Respected transfer insider David Ornstein has explained Tottenham’s plan for signing PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window, as the north London club face a potential scrap with Manchester United and Juventus for his services.

It was initially reported that Spurs are looking at a permanent deal for the 26-year-old, but Ornstein has provided an update on what the north London club are looking to do with a player who has largely fallen out of favour at PSG.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have opened two sets of talks over the signing of a highly-rated centre-back, and while Tottenham are also interested, it’s Pep Guardiola’s side who lead the race.

TEAMtalk learned Lens star, Abdukodir Khusanov, is a player Spurs are taking a close look at. The 20-year-old is currently earning rave reviews for his stellar displays in Ligue 1 and would become the first player from Uzbekistan to play in the Premier League if signing for Tottenham.

But according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, it’s at Man City where Khusanov could blaze that trail.

Respected transfer insider David Ornstein has explained Tottenham’s plan for signing PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani in the January transfer window, as the north London club face a potential scrap with Manchester United and Juventus for his services.

It’s expected to be a busy month for Daniel Levy and co. as they look to bolster a Spurs squad that has been decimated by injuries for a large part of the season so far, with their defence an area that has been particularly hit hard.

A new goalkeeper has already arrived in the shape of Antonin Kinsky, with the 21-year-old in line for his debut in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday night after Postecoglou confirmed that he has been registered in time for the contest.

However, it’s attack where Tottenham are now looking a making a splash next, with PSG and France star Kolo Muani firmly on their radar, following reports on Monday that Levy and sporting director Johan Lange had actually flown to Paris to try and strike a deal for the player.

It was initially reported that Spurs are looking at a permanent deal for the 26-year-old, but Ornstein has provided an update on what the north London club are looking to do with a player who has largely fallen out of favour at PSG.

He said on NBC Sports: “He’s a target for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Juventus, who would all like to sign him on loan until the end of the season.

“I think PSG would be open to letting him go on a temporary basis despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2028 because he’s just not getting the game time and they want to rebuild the value having signed him just over a year ago for a deal worth €90 million.

“I’m told that Tottenham see him as their top target for a versatile attacker. Manchester United are looking at multiple options and Juventus are in the equation too. Those three clubs are being presented to me as being the leading contenders in this moment in time.”

Kolo Muani’s struggles not putting Tottenham off

Kolo Muani has not had the best of times at PSG this season, although he remains a quality performer on his day.

The Frenchman’s ability to play out wide or, as has been the case this term, through the middle would make him a strong option for Postecoglou in his three-man attack.

Having an alternative for Dominic Solanke would also take the strain off the summer signing, who has been starting virtually every game of late due to Tottenham’s lack of depth in the No.9 role.

Any loan of Muani could well come with an obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal as PSG boss Luis Enrique appears to be keen to offload the former Eintracht Frankfurt man permanently.

Spurs are back in action on Wednesday night when they host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, fresh from suffering a 6-3 hammering from Arne Slot’s men in the Premier League recently.

Latest Tottenham news: Son scuppers suitors / First-choice keeper target revealed

Tottenham have thwarted Barcelona as well as former boss Jose Mourinho after announcing an important new deal for skipper Son Heung-min.

The South Korean, 32, may not be enjoying the finest of seasons in many people’s eyes. However, he has notched 11 goal contributions in the Premier League alone.

Son is in his 10th season with Tottenham and his contract was due to expire in the summer. As such, overseas teams were free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the winger.

But Tottenham – who reserved the right to extend Son’s stay by triggering a one-year extension – have put the suitors in their place.

Meanwhile, Tottenham started the January transfer window in swift fashion after sealing a deal for Czech Republic Under-21 goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky but he may not have been their first-choice option – a report has revealed.

changing January window with SEVEN concrete targets revealed

Tottenham have endured a difficult start to the season and despite the pressure on Ange Postecoglou, they are planning a huge January window to try and turn things around.

We reported last month that Postecoglou is not in any immediate danger of being sacked despite Spurs’ poor form and intend to back him with multiple new additions.

Tottenham’s position hasn’t changed and they are ramping up plans to build their squad. TEAMtalk understands that they have brought forward their plans to sign their top targets to this month.

The recent signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is an example of Tottenham’s new approach, as they were initially planning to pursue him at the end of the season.

One of Spurs’ main priorities for this month’s transfer window is to bolster their defensive ranks after injuries to Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and others have left them short of numbers.

TEAMtalk sources state that Tottenham are admirers of Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, but luring him away from Goodison Park this month will be difficult.

Everton will demand a minimum of £80million to even consider selling Branthwaite mid-season. The 22-year-old is one of, if not their most important player and they don’t want to lose him as they face another relegation battle. Branthwaite is the biggest name on Tottenham’s defender shortlist but they’re also eyeing other more realistic, cheaper options too.

Tottenham prioritising defensive reinforcements

TEAMtalk can confirm that Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Ko Itakura has been sounded out by Tottenham. Sources state he is open to joining Spurs, would cost around £15million and is one to watch this month – although PSV Eindhoven are also interested in him.

Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov is also of serious interest to Tottenham and is under consideration by Daniel Levy and his recruitment team. Postecoglou is also understood to be a big admirer of Khusanov.

The Uzbek international has been in fine form for Lens this season and has captured the attention of several top sides. Sources say Spurs could move for him this month to get ahead of the competition.

Khusanov, 20, is also being tracked by Manchester City and Real Madrid. He is yet to make a decision on his future but is open to leaving Lens for the right move. Tottenham view him as the perfect player to bring in and build with for the future.

Spurs to rival Man Utd for PSG star

Contrary to some reports, TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham will not prioritise the signing of a new centre-midfielder as they feel they have enough cover in that position.

They are big admirers of Jobe Bellingham, but Sunderland are determined to keep him until the end of the season. He will cost a minimum of £20million and Arsenal have also been linked with him.

However, Spurs are open to bringing in a new wide player and a striker.

Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn has admirers at Tottenham. Celtic are determined to keep him this month though as he is one of their most important players, so Brendan Rodgers’ side will demand £30million for a mid-season sale.

Tottenham have also held talks with Paris Saint-Germain about striker Randal Kolo Muani, who is available this month. As previously reported, a loan is possible with a potential buy option and Spurs are very keen on doing a deal.

Kolo Muani also has interest from Manchester United, Juventus and others. Juve want to seal a deal as soon as possible and are pushing to get it over the line.

Tottenham also monitoring Evan Ferguson who could leave Brighton this month and sources say he is one to watch if a move for Kolo Muani does not come to fruition.

Tottenham news: Barcelona foiled after signing of 'global star' confirmed

Description

Tottenham have thwarted Barcelona as well as former boss Jose Mourinho after announcing an important new deal.

It’s been another rollercoaster of a season so far for Tottenham, with the club losing 10 of 20 matches in the Premier League. The cup competitions have been kinder to Spurs, though the imposing figure of Liverpool await in the semi-final stages of the League Cup.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been ravaged by injury this term, but one player who’s largely kept the injuries at bay is captain, Son Heung-min.

Reports in Spain claimed Barcelona were preparing to pursue Son in the hopes of striking a deal. Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have also been linked with approaching the player.

But Tottenham – who reserved the right to extend Son’s stay by triggering a one-year extension – have put the suitors in their place.

Tottenham announced via their official website that Son’s contract has been extended via the option. As such, the skipper is now under contract until the summer of 2026.

Clearly thrilled at extending Son’s glittering star in north London, the club’s statement began: ‘We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026.

‘Having joined the Club in August, 2015, Sonny, 32, has become a global star during his time with us and a modern-day great for Tottenham Hotspur.’

Transfer reinforcements on the way

As ever, Son will be vital in Tottenham’s attempts to qualify for the Champions League and end their trophy drought as the season unfolds.

However, the veteran forward could soon be aided in his quest, with Spurs putting the pieces in place for a blockbuster winter window.

Our insider, Fraser Fletcher, reported Spurs were seeking additions in four different positions this month.

Goalkeeper, centre-back, winger and striker are the four areas they aim to address, with Antonin Kinsky already putting a tick in the first box.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein echoed Fletcher’s exclusive from last week when speaking to NBC Sports, and the trusted reporter shed new light on what types of deals Tottenham are pursuing.

“Tottenham didn’t sign a back-up goalkeeper last summer,” said Ornstein. “They’ve got Fraser Forster out of contract next summer, so this was something they would’ve needed to do and they’ve brought it forward.

“This is part of a squad revolution and evolution that’s going to see a lot of changes, and it already has and it’s ongoing.

“[Tottenham] want to do more business in January. They would like to strengthen their defence and also their attack, less so their midfield because they’ve not been suffering from injuries in that department.

“I think some loans are on the agenda – nothing imminent, but conversations are in progress.

“And possible some permanent deals if it could be like Kinsky in that they bring it forward [from the summer].”

Crucially, Ornstein concluded by declaring Tottenham are in rude financial health and have cash to splash.

“They have no PSR (profit and sustainability) issues,” added the reporter. “That means the finances are there for them to do something.”

Latest Tottenham news – Randal Kolo Muani, Abdukodir Khusanov

PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani is one player Tottenham have locked on to to provide competition for Dominic Solanke up top.

Spurs, Manchester United and Juventus are understood to be the three teams showing the firmest interest. PSG have greenlit an exit this month, with a loan that contains an option/obligation to buy the likeliest outcome.

Elsewhere, 20-year-old Lens defender, Abdukodir Khusanov, has been identified as a prime candidate to bolster the centre-back ranks.

The issue for Spurs in that regard comes in the form of Manchester City who are also desperate to strengthen in January.

What’s more, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported on January 5 that City had opened club-to-club talks with Lens as well as discussions on the player side.

Son Heung-min’s iconic Tottenham career

Son was signed from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015 and has since made 431 appearances in all competitions.

He is currently ranked 11th on Tottenham’s all-time appearances list and needs to make just eight more appearances for the club to usurp Jimmy Dimmock in the top 10.

The South Korea international has scored 169 goals in those 431 appearances, making him the fifth top goalscorer in the club’s history.

He is now behind just Martin Chivers (174), Bobby Smith (208), Jimmy Greaves (266) and Harry Kane (280).

He has 16 Champions League goals, eight Europa League goals and one Conference League goal, putting him second behind Kane in Tottenham’s all-time European goalscoring list.

Alongside his goals, the forward has also registered 90 assists with Spurs and that includes a club-record 68 in the Premier League.

The ultra-reliable David Ornstein revealed what Tottenham are cooking up for the January transfer window after dropping a conclusive update on whether Ange Postecoglou will be sacked.

Tottenham have endured a nightmare campaign in the Premier League so far, losing 10 matches out of 20 and languishing in 12th position. The cup competitions have provided respite, however, with Spurs advancing to the semi-finals of the League Cup and on course to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Scrutiny of Postecoglou has ramped up in recent weeks amid a run of five defeats in Spurs’ last seven league matches. The only victory achieved in that span came against bottom-placed Southampton.

However, TEAMtalk were informed on December 31 that the Tottenham board remain convinced Postecoglou is the right man for the project they’re embarking on.

What’s more, we were told Spurs fully intend to back their manager in the winter window and a new goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky – has already arrived.

Backing up our reporting on Postecoglou’s future, The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed the Aussie is “100 percent” safe when speaking to NBC Sports.

Ornstein said: “Ange Postecoglou is 100 percent safe in his job, I’m told. There is no uncertainty over his future despite the pressure he appears to be feeling in some of his public comments.

“[Spurs] are backing him to lead this project forwards and they hope he delivers. They’ve got a chance of a League Cup trophy and a Europa League trophy, they’re focusing on that.

“And they’re also fighting to get into the top four, although they’re realistic about their chances on that.”

Ornstein confirms Tottenham transfer plans

Our insider, Fraser Gillan, reported Spurs were seeking additions in four different positions this month.

Goalkeeper, centre-back, winger and striker are the four areas they aim to address, with Kinsky already putting a tick in the first box.

Ornstein echoed Gillan’s exclusive from last week when speaking to NBC Sports, and the trusted reporter shed new light on what types of deals Tottenham are pursuing.

Latest Tottenham news – Randal Kolo Muani, Son Heung-min

Regarding Tottenham’s chase for a striker to compete with Dominic Solanke, reports claim Spurs chiefs have jetted over to France to wrap up a deal for Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman, 26, has the greenlight to leave PSG this month and is expected to move initially via the loan route. An option/obligation to buy must be included before PSG sign off on Kolo Muani’s departure.

Elsewhere, Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Spurs talisman Son Heung-min as a superstar free agent pick-up for the summer.

Son has entered the final six months of his contract and as such, Barcelona are now free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the player.

However, Tottenham have a plan in place to prevent their captain from leaving.
