Description

Liverpool are looking to make their second hijack of the summer transfer window as they look to land Man Utd, Tottenham target Mateus Fernandes, according to reports.

The Reds have already lost Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers this summer, while Mohamed Salah is set to leave to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere this summer.

Liverpool could also be set to move on other players with Curtis Jones, Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister among the clubs linked with a move away from Anfield.

The Merseysiders have now rejected a second bid, worth around £21m, from Inter Milan for Jones with Liverpool standing firm on their valuation of £35m this summer.

And Liverpool are looking to sign a midfielder of their own with West Ham star Fernandes confirmed as a target by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano this month.

Romano told Born ‘N Red: “I will tell you something that was not so public in the recent days and weeks. Liverpool made a call two weeks ago to understand the situation of Fernandes at West Ham, to understand the price and conditions, but they didn’t return with any bid or any official conversation.

READ: Man Utd, Liverpool make approach for same Real Madrid star as ‘agreement’ is revealed

“But they made a call two weeks ago, I can guarantee that. Tottenham and Man United are busy with a deal, so there are so many clubs involved. The player is going to be expensive, more than £85m. It means Liverpool are working on midfielders.”

Liverpool face strong competition for Fernandes from both Man Utd and Tottenham and the Portugal international could now have a big decision to make.

Tottenham recently came to the table for Fernandes, while Man Utd have already agreed personal terms with the West Ham man, and now Football Insider insists that Liverpool have ‘positioned themselves to hijack a move’ for the midfielder.

The Reds are looking to ‘accelerate their plans to sign a midfielder’ with Liverpool already completing one hijack this summer by beating Newcastle to the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

READ: Liverpool ‘transfer trick’ helps put ‘significant sum’ towards Diomande chase

It is understood that one of Liverpool’s ‘priorities is a central midfielder with the energy and athleticism to lift’ their midfield, which was off the pace under Arne Slot in the season just gone.

Liverpool are yet to submit an opening offer

On Liverpool’s interest in Fernandes – who is likely to cost in excess of £85m – Football Insider added: ‘Liverpool enquired about Fernandes a few weeks ago to understand what it would take to acquire his signature this summer.

‘Since then, the Reds haven’t submitted a bid or opened official talks with West Ham for the Portugal international, who scored three goals and provided four assists in 36 Premier League appearances in the 2025-26 campaign.’

Tottenham want Rashford as sixth signing with De Zerbi ‘pushing’ to sign Man Utd star

Description

Tottenham are looking to bring Marcus Rashford to north London this summer with Roberto De Zerbi a huge fan of the Man Utd forward, according to reports.

Spurs narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Everton preserving their status in the English top flight.

Tottenham are looking to avoid getting themselves into the same position with the club’s board looking to make a number of ambitious signings to push them up the table next season.

Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have already signed on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively, while Tottenham have paid around £52m for Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham are bidding for a potential fourth signing in the form of Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, while they are also keen to wrap up a deal for Man City winger Savinho.

And now Marcus Rashford could follow those players through the door with The i Paper claiming that Man Utd forward Rashford is ‘the next target’ on Tottenham’s summer wishlist.

READ: Tottenham ‘new bid’ for Tonali revealed as Newcastle star ‘considers his story over’ at St James’ Park

Tottenham ‘would not be willing to match the £40m release clause Manchester United and Rashford have agreed upon’ but they are looking into the possibility of signing the England international at a ‘lower price’.

It is understood that ‘moving to another Premier League club is currently not on his radar’ with moves to Barcelona, Bayern Munich or even a return to Man Utd currently more appealing.

But Tottenham could still have a chance with Man Utd’s ‘position on the player, who they would prefer to move on to save on his astronomical wages, will force Rashford to reconsider his stance’.

The report adds: ‘Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be a huge fan and will push the club’s hierarchy to agree some form of deal.

‘Rashford will certainly have to take a substantial pay cut to secure his next move, something he is more than willing to do for the right step at a crucial juncture in his career.’

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Bayern Munich did make “some calls” to enquire about Rashford after missing out on Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Many questions on what’s happening with Rashford.

“Some of you asking me if Bayern is a possibility.

READ: Man Utd or Tottenham? Romano brings Fernandes ‘best placed’ update with Spurs ‘ready to offer’ £70m

“My understanding is that they were some calls from Bayern in the past two, three weeks to understand the situation of Marcus Rashford.

“So, asking in general, if Rashford could be an option, but at the moment, Bayern are more oriented on a different kind of player.

“For example, Saibari.

“Saibari is, obviously, in terms of technical skills different from Rashford, but in terms of salary, in terms of cost of the deal, is way less compared to what Bayern should spend in order to sign Marcus Rashford.

“So, it’s a completely different kind of deal, and that’s why the situation with Rashford and Bayern is appreciation, yes.

“There is some people at Bayern appreciating Rashford, but at the moment, no negotiation, no bid, and the focus at Bayern is on different players.

“So, let’s say that Rashford in this moment is not the first choice at Bayern.”

Description

Tottenham have set their asking price for Chelsea transfer target Lucas Bergvall after he asked Spurs to leave this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The north London outfit have already made strides to bring in players with Andy Robertson, Marco Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke all joining.

Tottenham are keen on signing at least one new midfielder in the summer transfer window with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes on their list of targets.

Tottenham have already had one bid turned down for Tonali, while they are likely to go back with another, and they are also rivalling Manchester United for Fernandes.

And now Tottenham midfielder Bergvall could make way with a report in talkSPORT revealing over the weekend that Chelsea and Aston Villa are both ‘monitoring’ the Swedish star’s situation.

Bergvall ‘wants to leave’ Tottenham in the summer as he looks for ‘a new challenge’ with Spurs missing out on qualification for European football after narrowly avoiding relegation.

READ: Transfer rumour ranking: Liverpool’s Diomande decision, silly money for Tonali

Our friends at TEAMtalk have revealed on Monday that Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and several Italian clubs are exploring a potential move for Bergvall.

The report adds: ‘Indeed, sources suggest that if Bergvall were to leave Tottenham, a move back to mainland Europe would currently appeal more than remaining in the Premier League.’

And now Romano has claimed that Tottenham are looking for between £45m and £50m in order to sell Bergvall to Chelsea, who made an approach earlier in the year, or another club this summer.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Tottenham Hotspur remain busy with several midfield situations. In addition to the ongoing pursuit of Sandro Tonali, the club are now prepared to consider offers for Lucas Bergvall.

READ: Tottenham: Ornstein reveals Tonali salary will be in region Spurs have never ‘gone before’

“The 20-year-old Swedish midfielder has informed Tottenham, through his representatives, that he would like to explore a new chapter in his career. This decision is not related to unhappiness at the club. Bergvall remains convinced that joining Tottenham was the correct choice. There was strong competition from Barcelona when he made that decision, but he has no regrets.

“However, with Tottenham pursuing Sandro Tonali and looking to strengthen further in midfield, Bergvall feels his opportunities for regular development and playing time could become limited under Roberto De Zerbi.

“A fee in the region of £45-50 million could be enough to complete a transfer. Several clubs are already monitoring the situation closely.

“Brighton continue discussions regarding Luka Vuskovic, but Lucas Bergvall is another name attracting significant interest this summer. There could be movement on this story in the coming weeks.”

Description

Tottenham are preparing to submit ‘a new bid’ of over €100m as they look to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to reports.

Spurs are already making huge progress in the summer transfer window with Roberto De Zerbi’s side securing the free transfers of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.

Tottenham narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Everton seeing Spurs finish two points ahead of 18th-placed West Ham, who dropped into the Championship.

Spurs are keen to avoid being in the same situation again next season with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke becoming their third signing last week.

And now Tottenham are looking to accelerate a deal to sign Newcastle midfielder Tonali with the Italy international believed to be available for transfer this summer at the right price.

Journalist Ben Jacobs insists that Tottenham “want to make a statement signing” this summer and Tonali is the man they are hoping to sign.

READ: Tottenham ‘very close’ to personal agreement with Mateus Fernandes despite Man Utd push

Jacobs wrote: ‘A fresh bid is expected. Manchester City remain active as well. Spurs want to make a statement signing with Roberto De Zerbi stressing the importance of adding in central midfield.’

Despite their first bid of around £75m being turned down, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Tottenham “are real contenders” to sign Tonali.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “Tottenham entered the race strong to sign Sandro Tonali and Sandro Tonali is open to joining Tottenham. Tottenham are real contenders to sign Sandro Tonali, Tottenham are strong contenders for Sandro Tonali and Tottenham are very serious.

“It’s a bid, it was sent three days ago. Tottenham sent an official bid, £75million, rejected by Newcastle, they want more. The first bid is never getting accepted, it’s normal and common knowledge in football that when you want to negotiate for a top player with a big transfer fee that the first bid never gets accepted.

READ: Man Utd or Tottenham? Romano brings Fernandes ‘best placed’ update with Spurs ‘ready to offer’ £70m

“It’s part of the plan, because for Tottenham it was the message sent to the player and to Newcastle as well, but especially the player, to show that they are serious.

“It’s not the bid we need to talk about now, Tottenham remain in conversations with those close to Tonali and Tottenham remain in conversations to make a new bid. Tottenham are there and working for Tonali, they are working very hard and very strong to get Sandro Tonali.”

New bid from Tottenham set to be over €100m

And now Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has revealed that Tottenham are preparing a ‘new bid’ of over €100m (£87m) for the Newcastle midfielder.

Schira wrote on X: ‘#Tottenham are set to submit to #Newcastle a new bid (over €100M) to try to sign Sandro #Tonali, who is ready to leave #NUFC and considers over his story with Magpies. Not only #THFC: there are other three english top clubs (Man City, Arsenal and Man United) at the window…’

Romano reveals Fernandes to Man Utd or Spurs transfer update - Football365
Description

Fabrizio Romano insists Man Utd are “still very much in the picture” to sign West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes despite Tottenham ramping up their interest.

The Red Devils are looking to sign at least one more new midfielder after securing a deal for Atalanta star Ederson earlier this month.

Man Utd have lost Casemiro on a free transfer this summer and the Red Devils are looking to offload Manuel Ugarte, who is attracting interest from AC Milan.

Tottenham are also looking for a new midfielder this summer with Italian journalist Nicolo Schira insisting that Spurs are now ‘ready to offer’ £70m for Man Utd transfer target Fernandes.

Schira wrote on X: ‘Excl. – #Tottenham are ready to offer 70M to #WestHam to try to sign #MatheusFernandes, who is still a target of #ManchesterUnited and #RealMadrid. Race ongoing. #transfers #THFC #WHUFC.’

Despite Romano admitting that Tottenham are pushing to secure a deal for Fernandes, the transfer expert insists nothing is guaranteed and that Man Utd are still “very much in the picture”.

READ:Man Utd accelerate towards ‘full transfer agreement’ for next signing after personal terms deal

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “According to my information, Tottenham are talking to the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and they are pushing in order to reach an agreement with the player – but still nothing guaranteed, still nothing closed.

“What’s going to happen is that there will be more conversations with Tottenham, and more conversations with Manchester United, because don’t forget that Manchester United are working very, very hard on this deal. Manchester United are working hard on the club side with West Ham — they’ve already spoken about Matheus Fernandes — and they are also working on the player side with his agent. So Man United are still very much in the picture…”

Romano: ‘This is a very, very interesting deal to follow’

Touching on Real Madrid’s interest in Fernandes, Romano added: “The name of Matheus Fernandes was also put forward by José Mourinho as one of the options for midfield, in case they need one more addition.

READ: Gary Neville tips Man Utd to land World Cup star over Mateus Fernandes

“So we have to keep a close eye on Matheus Fernandes, because in this kind of deal, the feeling is that whoever brings the best proposal to West Ham — who are starting at £85 million and looking to get more, as they believe more clubs are joining the race day by day — will also be best placed to close the deal with the player.

“That’s the feeling around this story, and that is probably the key to understanding the future of Matheus Fernandes.

“This is a very, very interesting deal to follow. There is movement, there are clubs attracted — Tottenham are there, Manchester United are there — and again, let’s see what happens at Real Madrid in midfield as they wait for exits.

“Another very interesting situation heading into a very interesting week. Stay tuned for all the latest on all these names and much more.”

Tottenham 'very close' to agreement with Mateus Fernandes in sickening Man Utd twist

Description

Tottenham are ‘very close’ to agreeing personal terms with West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who is believed to be a major target for Manchester United.

Spurs are the most active club in the Premier League at the moment. Three transfers have already been made, with Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke joining.

The north Londoners are also genuinely active in the chase for two extremely expensive midfielders, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes – valued at £100million and £80million, respectively.

Both men are being chased by other top Premier League clubs in far better states on the field, but for Fernandes, that doesn’t seem to matter.

Indeed, insider Matteo Moretto has revealed Tottenham are ‘very close’ to reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Hammers midfielder.

There have been no negotiations with the club themselves, but the Portuguese is open to signing for Tottenham.

Man Utd pursuit up in the air

It had been suggested earlier in the pursuit that Fernandes was not keen to move to Spurs, as he instead wanted to go to United.

At the time, reports stated Spurs were hoping for the transfer to fall through so that they could have a crack at landing the midfielder, as they were ready to spend big in order to get him.

It might be tough to hear for the north Londoners, then, that United are making progress towards the signing of Fernandes.

READ: Next De Zerbi transfer obsession emerges as Liverpool target gives Neville ‘not pleasant’ flashbacks

Indeed, the midfielder can have agreed to join Tottenham as a second choice if his move to Old Trafford doesn’t come to fruition, and even if that has happened, if it’s Michael Carrick’s side who have a bid accepted and Spurs don’t, there won’t be anything stopping Fernandes subsequently agreeing to join them.

If either club are to land the West Ham man, they’ll have to part with £85million, which is the price the Hammers are holding firm at currently, and have shown no signs of being willing to drop those demands.

Both clubs are also keen on Tonali, and it seems Spurs are actually pushing harder for him than they are Fernandes, with the Italian more expensive, but also a more experienced Premier League player, which is what they’ll need after two poor seasons on the spin.

Tottenham: Ornstein reveals Spurs will pay Tonali numbers they've never 'gone before'

Tottenham: Ornstein reveals Spurs want to pay Tonali salary in uncharted territory - Football365
Description

Transfer insider David Ornstein has revealed Tottenham could offer a mammoth salary to Sandro Tonali, never before seen at the north London club.

Spurs have already made good improvements to a squad which has struggled over the last couple of seasons. Following two 17th-placed Premier League finishes in a row, new boss Roberto De Zerbi has signed Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke.

With the defence sorted, Tottenham are now looking further up the field, with Newcastle midfielder Tonali the subject of their admiration.

The Italian star has the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal also keen on him, but it’s believed Spurs are very serious about winning the race, and insider Ornstein has revealed what lengths they are willing to go to.

He said on The Athletic FC Podcast: “There is an acceptance at St. James’ Park that Tonali could exit this summer, but the money has to be right. We think that is around £100million, with a very significant salary demand as well. Tottenham are in for him.

“What I see happening here is Tottenham trying to get to a place where they know they can do a deal with the player on salary. I’m hearing they are offering him really big money to join them. After that, they will go to Newcastle. If that part is okay, they will open talks and try to negotiate a fee.

“It really would be quite something, wouldn’t it, if they get a player of Tonali’s stature for around £100million, a level they have never been to in terms of transfer fee?

“Also, the salary numbers I am hearing would take Tottenham to an area that you did not use to see them go before.”

Spurs are believed to have a highest current salary of £195,000, and reports elsewhere suggest they could offer Tonali £80,000 more than that, blowing their current top earners, Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero, out of the water.

READ: Romano doubles down on Tonali as fourth of ‘seven signings’ for Tottenham this summer

Tottenham determined to land Simons

Fellow insider Fabrizio Romano has been banging the drum on Spurs’ interest in Tonali, recently suggesting that the club remain locked in in their desire to land him.

He posted on X: ‘THFC determined to get the deal done. Spurs keep pushing. De Zerbi wants him.’

Whether they are able to beat any of the other juggernauts who want him remains to be seen, but the consistent reporting is that Tottenham are very keen on making Tonali their own this summer.

Arsenal backed to hijack Tottenham bid to replace Arteta starter, sign Rashford from Man Utd

Description

Arsenal have been backed to sign Tottenham target Sandro Tonali and Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford this summer by Jermaine Jenas.

Widespread reports have indicated that Spurs are looking to bring Tonali to north London from Newcastle ahead of other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham have seen an £80m bid for Tonali rejected by the Geordies as they look to avoid another relegation fight in the Premier League next season.

Arsenal could also improve their midfield in the summer as Martin Zubimendi’s form dropped off towards the end of last season, most likely because of tiredness.

And former Spurs midfielder Jenas reckons Tonali would represent an upgrade on the Spain international if they could beat Tottenham to the signing of the Italian.

Jenas told 10bet: “I think Sandro Tonali is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, in my opinion. He had his misdemeanour, came back, and I thought his attitude from that exact point onward has been brilliant.

READ:Who are the highest-scoring clubs at the 2026 World Cup? Liverpool and Man Utd overtake Arsenal

“He’s a dictator of a game; he sets the pace and sets the tone every time he plays. He did the same when he was at AC Milan.

“When I look at that Arsenal midfield, I was never fully convinced by Martin Zubimendi, if I’m honest with you. I think he’s a decent, solid player, but Tonali would definitely be a level up in that midfield alongside Declan Rice.

“Though I am a bit surprised that Arsenal’s focus isn’t more forward-thinking than that. I don’t think their midfield is terrible – you’ve got young Myles Lewis-Skelly who has the ability to step in there as well.

“So Tonali is a great player, and it would be a good move, but I don’t think it’s exactly what they desperately need. I still think they need a proper, out-and-out striker and a specialist on that left wing.”

READ:Arsenal, Liverpool pair cost £189m and were shamed by £17m striker masterclass from the Dutch

Jenas also talked up a potential move for Rashford, he added: “I don’t think he should just go back to United to sit on the bench, and I don’t think Michael Carrick should automatically just force him back into the team either.

“I just think there comes a point where you have to move on. Bringing Marcus Rashford back to the club – as good as he is – comes with complications.

“Now, Carrick played with Marcus, so he might feel he can get a better tune out of him.

“But at the same time, now that Marcus has experienced Barcelona, I think it’s probably a better move for him to leave England or find a fresh start.”

Romano makes Tonali to Tottenham 'deal done' claim; Spurs insider rejects 'utterly absurd' links - Football365
Description

Tottenham are reportedly getting serious about signing Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United as links to Mason Greenwood are rejected by one insider.

Spurs have been one of the busiest teams in the summer transfer window so far with the North Londoners looking to avoid being in relegation trouble for a third season in a row.

Tottenham narrowly avoided the drop to the Championship on the final day of the 2025/26 season with a 1-0 win over Everton enough to secure their place in the Premier League for another campaign.

Tottenham completed their third signing of the summer earlier this week when they secured a reported £52m deal for Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke.

There have been rumours that Manchester City winger Savinho is also a top target and Tottenham are now working to seal a deal for Newcastle midfielder Tonali.

READ: Man Utd ‘first bid’ for Tottenham target revealed as midfielder tells agent who he ‘wants’ to join

On Friday, Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel: “Tottenham are working on a deal for Sandro Tonali. Tottenham are aware of the player being open to joining.

“That was my message, and that remains my message. I keep telling you about Tonali and Tottenham. Should anything change, I will come here and update you. But as of today, we are entering into the weekend, I keep telling you Sandro Tonali and Tottenham, wanted by Roberto De Zerbi in talks. So, deal on Tottenham, Sandro Tonali. That’s the understanding, that’s the story.”

Before bringing a more recent update, Romano added on X: ‘THFC determined to get the deal done. Spurs keep pushing. De Zerbi wants him.’

French newspaper L’Equipe reported earlier this week that former Man Utd striker Mason Greenwood is a target for north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal.

READ: Transfer rumour ranking: Spurs get new offer as Van der Ven scramble starts

Posting on X, Romano dismissed those reports: ‘Tottenham are not working on a deal to sign Mason Greenwood despite reports.’

While Tottenham insider Alistair Gold has also weighed in on reports that Greenwood could join Spurs with the Football.London journalist calling the rumours ‘utterly absurd’.

Gold went on to add that Tottenham have ‘no interest’ in any deal for the Old Trafford academy graduate.

The insider revealed: ‘In other news, in case you hadn’t worked it out already because it would be utterly absurd after De Zerbi’s early days in the job, but Spurs hold no interest in signing Mason Greenwood this summer despite links.’

Description

Fabrizio Romano maintains that the “deal is on” for Tottenham to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle this summer despite reports of interest from Manchester City.

Spurs have already signed Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfers after their respective contracts at Liverpool and Bournemouth expired, while Jan Paul van Hecke will reunite with Roberto De Zerbi after Tottenham paid £52m to land him from Brighton.

De Zerbi – who was appointed by Spurs in March and saved them from relegation – also wants to add a new central midfielder to his ranks.

They’ve made ‘calls’ to sound out Mateus Fernandes over a move to North London, but the West Ham star looks destined for Manchester United, and their focus appears to be on landing Tonali.

Romano revealed on X earlier this week: ‘EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham have entered the race to sign Sandro Tonali!

‘De Zerbi wants Tonali as new star for the midfield, ideal to step up #THFC level.

‘Spurs ready to face Man City and Arsenal in the race for Tonali for new ambitious project to prove their intentions.’

The transfer expert later insisted that Tonali ‘wants’ Tottenham despite an ‘approach’ from Man City, but on Thursday, our friends at TEAMtalk revealed that the Italy international is also seriously considering a move to the Etihad.

They reported that Man City are ‘increasingly confident’ that Tonali will join them, should he decide to stay in the Premier League.

It was claimed that Tonali has ‘seriously considered the prospect of joining’ Man City and has been ‘impressed by the project’ of the Premier League club, who will have Enzo Maresca as their new manager following the departure of Pep Guardiola.

TEAMtalk has further stated: ‘Crucially, discussions were not solely focused on football matters.

‘Sources indicate Tonali’s camp were particularly impressed by the wider package City outlined, including the long-term vision for the player, the role he would occupy within the squad and the support structure available to his family away from football.

‘Those conversations have ensured City remain firmly in contention despite the player’s desire to eventually return to Serie A.’

Tonali ‘deal on’

But Romano doubled down on Friday night, insisting that Tonali to Tottenham “remains my message”.

He said on his YouTube channel: “Tottenham are working on a deal for Sandro Tonali.
