MOHAMMED KUDUS didn’t just dream of the Premier League, he dragged himself there.

The man signed by Tottenham for £55million had to overcome pain, setbacks and the kind of adversity most can’t even imagine.

Kudus grew up in Nima, one of the toughest neighbourhoods in Accra, Ghana.

Tin-roofed homes built in the 1800s, markets that never sleep, and a crushing lack of opportunity - that was Kudus’s reality.

Pickpocketing and poverty surrounded him.

Bashiru Mohammed Zakari is the vice chairman of Strong Towers, Kudus’ first football club and told SunSport in an exclusive interview: “For many kids from Nima, options are limited.

“Football has become an escape for most. When he (Kudus) came to us, he barely spoke.

“He’d spend hours with his mates and you wouldn’t hear a word from him. But there was something different about him, quiet, yes. Timid? Not a chance.”

He’d go to school in the morning, count down the hours and race off to Montreal Park - a rough patch of dust that’s now gone, bulldozed to make way for the National Mosque in Accra.

That park was where he put in the graft, that’s where the hunger grew.

Zakari added: "I remember how we picked him up, like it was just yesterday. He got really lucky that we didn’t have our own academy, so we organised games with Right to Dream Academy , and that’s where they spotted him."

At just 13, Kudus was snapped up by the Right to Dream Academy, but even there, things weren’t smooth.

Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the first coach who took him to Right to Dream exclusively told SunSport in an interview from his base in Accra: “He was very shy.

“I think Kudus is a very determined footballer. We had him on our radar for a while, but it wasn’t until we played against his local team that we decided to bring him in.

“He was only around 13 to 14 years old. Our role wasn’t just to develop them as footballers but also to ensure they grew as better human beings.

“I remember when he first joined, like most teenagers, he was eager to impress. But one thing stood out for me.

"It was when he broke his thumb and was in a cast, yet still worked with the group.

“I still recall those moments and how mentally tough and stable he was, playing with a cast on his hand.”

At Right to Dream, his talent was obvious, but so was the confusion about where to actually play him.

One week he was box-to-box, the next drifting out wide. A jack-of-all-trades. It took time, patience and trust before he carved out his true identity.

When FC Nordsjaelland, the Academy’s sister club in Denmark, came calling, Kudus packed his bags and went.

But the challenge wasn’t just on the pitch. It was everything, from the cold weather and strange food to no friends and no family.

Dramani says: “I remember speaking to him and telling him that it’s going to be tough before it gets better.

“But one thing I can say is to remember how far you’ve come, remember how you used to play with a broken thumb and when the manager gives you five minutes, show him you deserve ten.

“Then, when you have ten, work for 20.

“In Europe, you get what you work for and it worked, he was a sensation in Denmark, and it didn’t take long before Ajax came calling.”

The move to Ajax brought him closer to his Premier League dream.

But just as things looked up, they came crashing down again.

In 2022, Everton came in with a serious offer. Kudus wanted it, the Premier League was right there for the taking and he was going to play under Frank Lampard but Ajax said no.

Just like that, the deal was dead, worse, they froze him out of the team. Still, he didn’t moan and didn’t throw a tantrum.

He just got on with it and later told Dutch outlet De Telegraaf: "The fact that Ajax blocked a transfer to Everton last time disappointed me.

“I thought it was time for a new chapter in my career because I wasn’t playing here. But the moment the transfer window closed, my full focus shifted back to Ajax.”

That is the kind of statement that defines Kudus, he believes life is like a bicycle and the only way to maintain balance is to keep peddling.

So when the West Ham move came along he jumped on it and moved to East London.

His first season was sensational, 14 goals across all competitions, 20-goal contributions, two bicycle kicks amongst them and that solo run and a brilliant finish against Freiburg in Europe.

But in the second season everything faded again - only five goals, a huge drop and even though he still attempted the most take-ons of any player in the league he was just not the same energetic all-action forward who would sit on the advertising board after a goal.

But for a boy who grew up in the chaos of Nima, struggled in the Danish cold and fought his way back after heartbreak in Amsterdam, he believes a move to Spurs presents with him an opportunity and platform to showcase his absolute best.

For Spurs - where Kudus could face an awkward first meeting - they’re getting a player who is an absolute game changer, an edge of your seat player who can be world class in the right environment and has a dynamite shot.

Henderson becomes free agent

Jordan Henderson will be available as a free agent this summer after opting against taking up his option for a one-year extension at Ajax.

Henderson has been linked with a return to boyhood club Sunderland following their promotion to the Premier League.

However, there have been reports suggesting the Black Cats are not keen on the Liverpool hero.

The midfielder is thought to be open to a new chapter, while he will be keeping one eye on making England's World Cup squad next summer.

Surprise Gyokeres transfer competition

Arsenal could face competition for Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres from a surprise suitor during the summer transfer window.

According to Record, Fenerbahce could sweep in for Gyokeres, who is also linked with Manchester United, if the Gunners fail to land him.

Fener will have the benefit of an extended transfer window compared to many other European leagues.

The Turkish giants could pull the same manoeuvre rivals Galatasaray did a year ago with Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who found a way out late in the 2024 transfer market.

Manchester United are ready to cut their losses on Andre Onana just two years after signing him.

Onana signed from Inter Milan for around £47million in 2023 to replace David De Gea.

Now, with Ineos looking to reshape their squad this summer, United are open to offers and could accept a figure as low as £30m.

The Mail report that was the price quoted to Monaco when the French side enquired about signing the goalkeeper.

That would represent a hefty financial hit for the Red Devils.

Despite the significant drop in his valuation compared to 24 months ago, the report adds that the Ligue 1 outfit still consider it too much.

Saudi side SC Neom have also been linked with a move for the Cameroon international.

Brighton selling Ferguson

Roma are keeping tabs on Brighton star Evan Ferguson during the summer transfer window.

The Giallorossi are interested in a loan with an obligation to buy Ferguson.

However, there is no agreement between the Serie A giants and the Seagulls at this stage.

Brighton would prefer a loan that would help the striker recapture his confidence and form to boost his value.

According to Sky Sports, however, the Premier League side would be open to a permanent move if the right offer was received.

Cresswell joins Stoke

Aaron Cresswell has signed for Stoke as a free agent.

Cresswell put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Potters.

This comes after the left-back left West Ham on June 30 when his contract ran out.

That put an end to an 11-year stint for the 35-year-old with the Hammers.

The 24-year-old Ghana international departs having made 80 appearances and scored 19 goals during a two-year spell with the Hammers.

Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus joins Spurs from West Ham following a £55million deal between the two Premier League clubs.

The North Londoners will pay the fee across the next three years.

The winger has put pen to paper on a six-year deal with Tottenham.

Forest make Wissa bid

Nottingham Forest have launched a bid for Brentford star Yoane Wissa.

Forest have held a long-term interest in Wissa and have previously made another offer.

However, the Tricky Trees' exact offer is not yet known.

The Bees, though, are not highly likely to sell both Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, who has been linked with Manchester United.

Manchester United could be handed a golden opportunity to land Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic for free.

SunSport understand Vlahovic is high on United's list of targets and they could even get him for free, with Juve reportedly willing to rip up his contract.

According to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio, the Bianconeri are looking to cut the striker's £20million-a-year wages.

And the Italian giants may even be up for cancelling his contract altogether.

Arsenal have received a major boost in their bid to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo.

According to Marca, Real are “looking for a new destination” for the versatile forward.

Jadon Sancho leaving

Jadon Sancho is set to be the first Manchester United outcast to finally leave the club this summer.

Sancho could be swiftly followed out of the exit door by Antony, who is wanted back by Real Betis.

Juventus are pushing to agree a deal for the England international, who has not played a competitive United game since he fell out with ex-manager Erik ten Hag two years ago.

The 25-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to Italy, despite interest from Turkey.

The winger spent last term on loan at Chelsea, but they decided not to trigger the £25million option to buy him.

United still want a similar figure from whoever buys Sancho, while his salary demands of £7m a year could also be a sticking point.

Morgan Gibbs-White latest

Tottenham are set to complete a stunning move for England star Morgan Gibbs-White.

The North Londoners triggered the £60million release clause in his Nottingham Forest contract.

Gibbs-White, 25, is now expected to have medical at Spurs over the next 24 hours.

It follows up the £55m the club are spending on bringing in winger Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Thomas Frank, who succeeded the man who delivered that title, Ange Postecoglou, had been keen on a new No10, on top of a fresh wideman who will be Kudus.

Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze is admired but is believed to favour a move to rivals Arsenal, so Spurs have switched their attention to Gibbs-White.

Henderson not following Adingra at Sunderland

Simon Adingra claims it was an “easy decision” to join Sunderland - but Jordan Henderson WON'T be joining him.

The 23-year-old winger, capped 22 times by Ivory Coast, penned a five-year contract after completing a £20.5million transfer move from Brighton.

Adingra, who appeared 29 times in the Premier League last term for the Seagulls, became the sixth new arrival at the promoted Black Cats.

However, Henderson looks unlikely to secure a dream return to his hometown club and join the influx of new signings at the Stadium of Light.

The 35-year-old former Liverpool captain, who left Sunderland for Anfield in 2011, is a free agent after opting against extending his contract with Ajax for another year.

Despite speculation from abroad, SunSport understands that Sunderland are not currently interested in the veteran England international.

Henderson is believed to be considering offers from both the Prem and the continent and is looking for regular action in order to secure his place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup next summer.

Tottenham are on the brink of landing England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White after triggering his £60m release clause.

New Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is understood to have sold his vision to Gibbs-White, 25, in the past few days.

And the stunning swoop for the Three Lions star has left Nottingham Forest powerless to resist the move for one of their star assets.

It is another statement of intent by Tottenham and Frank, following on from the £55m move for West Ham’s Ghanaian powerhouse Mohammed Kudus and the bid for Brentford goal poacher Yoanne Wissa.

The new Spurs chief sees Gibbs-White, who had two years left on his City Ground contract, as a key part of his new-look side.

Gibbs-White, who scored seven Prem goals and added eight assists for Forest last term, is understood to believe that Champions League football with Tottenham will help secure his place in England’s squad for next summer’s World Cup.

The four-cap midfielder needs to convince Thomas Tuchel that he deserves a place among England’s star-studded midfield options.

That will be easier if he can shine against the international elite, with a potential Spurs debut against European champions Paris Saint-Germain in next month’s Uefa Super Cup Final in Udine.

Bournemouth monitoring Chelsea ace

Bournemouth are keeping tabs on Chelsea ace Djordje Petrovic.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues and the Cherries remain in talks over a deal for Petrovic.

The conversations centre around the structure of Bournemouth’s offer for the goalkeeper.

The West Londoners want more guaranteed payments, as opposed to add-ons and bonuses.

Chelsea want at least £25million for the 25-year-old this summer.

Petrovic, who spent last season on loan at Strasbourg, is said to be keen on a move to the Vitality Stadium.

MOHAMMED KUDUS is set for an awkward reunion with Tottenham stars after the north Londoners agreed a deal to sign him from West Ham.

While Spurs are also interested in adding Brentford forward Yoane Wissa to their forward line.

After having an initial £50million bid for Kudus rejected, Spurs upped their offer to around £55m, which their east London rivals accepted.

Kudus, 24, will sign a six-year contract and is scheduled to have a medical on Thursday.

His capture is seen as a major bit of business for new Spurs boss Thomas Frank, who had made signing a new winger a top priority.

Tottenham had initially identified Bryan Mbeumo - who netted 20 Premier League goals for Frank at Brentford last season - but the Frenchman wants to go to Manchester United.

Antoine Semenyo was considered, before he signed a new deal at Bournemouth, but the man they have moved for is Kudus.

The former Ajax star’s versatility and dribbling ability are two big attractions.

Kudus’s 195 attempted dribbles, 47 per cent of which were successful, in the Premier League last term were more than Eberechi Eze, Kaoru Mitoma, Dejan Kulusevski and Mbeumo.

He scored 13 goals and grabbed 12 assists in England's top flight during his two-season stay at West Ham, after arriving from the Eredivisie for £37m in 2023.

One of those came at Spurs in October, when he fired home an early opener only to see the Irons lose 4-1.

Kudus was also sent off late in the game for lashing out at the faces of both Micky van de Ven and Pape Sarr, earning a FIVE-MATCH ban as punishment.

He becomes the first player West Ham have sold to Tottenham since 2011 when England midfielder Scott Parker made the same switch.

Relations between both clubs have not always been harmonious and the Hammers were reluctant to sell to their North London rivals, offering Kudus to Chelsea, but the Blues did not make an offer.

Kudus is a Ghana international but will not play at this season’s Africa Cup of Nations - which runs from December 21 to January 18 - after his country surprisingly failed to qualify.

Spurs may look to follow up their Kudus capture with that of DR Congo striker Wissa, who netted 19 Premier League goals for Brentford last season and has one year left on his contract.

But whether the Bees, who already lost manager Frank to Spurs last month, would be willing to sell both Mbeumo and Wissa in the same summer remains to be seen.

Kudus’ switch could kickstart West Ham’s summer business.

The Hammers have needed to raise funds to back Graham Potter as he looks to overhaul a squad which finished 14th last season.

Potter wants a new spine but, due to Premier League spending rules, had to sell before buying.

They are closing in on a deal for Slavia Prague left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf, who helped Senegal shock England 3-1 at the City Ground last month.

TIMO WERNER has reportedly been told he won't play for RB Leipzig again after his dismal loan spell at Tottenham came to an end.

Werner, 29, is said to have been brought crashing down to earth with the news coming just two weeks after the high of marrying his partner of eight years, Paula.

According to German outlet Bild, Werner has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Leipzig and won't be called upon to play for the Bundesliga club again.

Werner, who has one year remaining on his £8.6million-per-season contract, is thought to have been told he won't even be used in club friendlies if he chooses to see out his current deal.

The forward has reportedly been offered a two-and-a-half year deal with fellow Red Bull owned outfit New York Red Bulls in the MLS.

The offer, which would be worth around £3.5m-per-season, is understood to have been rejected by Werner and his camp.

Werner hasn't featured for Leipzig since December 2023, spending the last 18 months on loan in the Premier League with Spurs.

His time in North London failed to live up to expectations, with the 57-time German International scoring just three times in 41 appearances for Tottenham.

Coupled with his previous unsuccessful time with Chelsea, it's no surprise that it's been reported that no Premier League clubs are in for the versatile attacker as things stand.

Werner was criticised by former manager Ange Postecoglou while at Tottenham.

The Aussie boss slammed Werner's performance in a Europa League clash with Rangers as "unacceptable".

Postecoglou said: "He wasn't playing anywhere near the level he should.

"When you've got 18-year-olds [playing], it's not acceptable to me and I said that to Timo. He's a senior German international.

"The moment we're in right now, it's not like we've got many options. I need everyone to at least be going out there trying to give the best of themselves.

"His performance in the first half wasn't acceptable."

Spurs remain in talks with their London rivals over the deal - though Kudus has also been offered to Chelsea.

West Ham will be hoping to instigate a bidding war between interested parties to drive the fee closer to the Ghanaian's release clause of £85m.

Kudus arrived in East London from Ajax for a fee of £37m in the summer of 2023.

His first season saw him notch 17 Premier League goal contributions in 33 games.

The forward is expected to return to training next week for medical checks.

Meanwhile, new boy Luka Vuskovic will finally join up with Spurs on Saturday.

The Croatia defender was signed for £12million from Hajduk Split in 2023.

But he could not move until the first transfer window following his 18th birthday in February.

TOTTENHAM have announced that the ‘Bill Nicholson Gates’ will be reinstalled in front of their stadium ahead of next season.

The gates were a famous feature of Spurs' old White Hart Lane home but were removed in 2015 when construction work began on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The gates become synonymous with Nicholson, who guided Spurs to a league and FA Cup double in 1961, following a photograph of the late manager standing between them, taken by Peter Robinson in the 1970s.

Fans have been hoping to see the iconic black and gold wrought iron gates brought out of storage, ever since Tottenham moved into their new glitzy home in 2019.

But they won't have much longer to wait to see them take their place outside the stadium once again following an update from the club's Fan Advisory Board (FAB) meeting that was held on Tuesday.

The gates will be given a new home within Paxton17, close to the ticket office on the Tottenham High Road.

The meeting was attended by club representatives, including new chief executive officer Vinai Venkatesham.

Work is under way to have the gates in place for Spurs’ opening Premier League match of the season at home to Burnley on August 16.

As with any new stadium, the club has been trying to underline connections between it and the old home.

The gates were one of the most recognisable and distinctive sights at the old ground, outside the car park in front of the main entrance facing the High Road.

Chairman Daniel Levy said: “The Bill Nicholson Gates are such a significant part of our club’s heritage and I am extremely proud they will be returning home this summer.

“We were never going to rush into a decision as to where they should be reinstated, given the huge amount of works that have taken place in the area over recent years.

“We look forward to welcoming fans back to the stadium for the coming season - as well as Bill’s family members and former players - to see the gates and feel that close connection between our Club and its rich history.”

Another key point from the meeting is that the club and FAB are working together to create a revamped Tottenham Hall of Fame.

RICHARLISON is set to leave the Premier League as he looks to reset his career overseas, SunSport can reveal.

Another option would be a loan deal - although Spurs are believed to prefer the idea of a permanent switch.

They’re ready to cut their losses on a player who has endured a frustrating time in North London.

Since joining for £50m in 2022, he’s managed a mere 20 goals and 10 assists in 90 appearances, with injuries keeping him sidelined for over 30 matches in 2024-25.

His latest campaign was a rollercoaster as he only made 15 Premier League starts which saw just four goals scored, plus a single Europa League strike.

It has been widely reported that Richarlison is keen to remain in Europe despite interest from Saudi Arabia.
