Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of signing Lille striker Jonathan David have been boosted by the forward rejecting Roma. The Canadian striker, who has a year left on his current deal in France, has been linked with a host of European clubs this summer after scoring 26 times last season.

And the Serie A side reportedly made the 24-year-old a contract offer in a bid to bring him to Italy.

However, according to L'Equipe, David has turned down the move, despite still being keen to leave Lille.

Ange Postecoglou wants to bolster his forward options this summer, with the future of current No.9 Richarlison still in doubt. Timo Werner has extended his loan stay from RB Leipzig, but has scored just twice for the club after joining in January.

The club have signed Archie Gray from Leeds this summer, while Lucas Bergvall and Min-hyeok Yang have joined from Djurgarden and Gwangon FC respectively. But that trio all signify midfield options, while Spurs have also been linked with Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

David has now spent four years at Lille after signing from Gent in 2020. And he made an immediate impression in his first season, scoring 13 times as the club beat PSG to the Ligue 1 title.

He's also become a critical figure at international level, already having 54 caps to his name. He's scored 28 times for Canada and his goals were pivotal as his country qualified fo the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Spurs were beaten 2-1 in their latest pre-season friendly by Bayern Munich on Saturday, and afterwards Postecoglou admitted he was still searching for signings. However, he stopped short of specifically naming targets, and also conceded his overhaul would be completed this summer.

"We've added the two young guys, but I also think there's been growth from other guys from last year, which naturally makes us stronger," he said. "But yeah, we obviously still got a hand in this window, but I think we'll go beyond this window.

"This was wasn't just tinkering around the edges when I took over, it needed, you know, a big shift from where it was. I was just thinking about last year's pre-season, you know, I reckon 50% of the people who were on that tour are probably not here now."

The Australian has also said the incresed schedule for his club next season will mean more signings are needed. Tottenham ended up fifth in the Premier League in 2023/24, meaning Europa League qualification.

Tottenham have three players Bournemouth might accept in Dominic Solanke swap deal

Tottenham are said to be exploring a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer after the star bagged 19 Premier League goals last season. Solanke is said to have a £65million release clause in his contract and appeared to tease a move with a cryptic quote on social media.

But Spurs could try to get the transfer fee down by offering Bournemouth a part-exchange deal.

And Express Sport takes a look at three players Tottenham could use as collateral to tempt the Cherries.

Giovani Lo Celso

Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso has featured in 77 Premier League games since joining Tottenham from Real Betis in 2019 but has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under any manager in north London.

The 28-year-old, who has won 57 caps for his country and was part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa America last month, started just four top-flight matches last term.

But he would be a welcome addition to the Bournemouth squad and could help the Dorset club kick on to the next level thanks to his nous and experience at the highest level of the game. And with only one more year remaining on his contract at Spurs, the north London giants would surely be more than happy to include him in any deal for Solanke.

Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon is another player who Tottenham may be willing to sacrifice, with the winger missing eight months of the last campaign after being forced to undergo surgery for a meniscus problem in his right knee in October.

The 25-year-old impressed for Fulham after moving to England from Shakhtar Donetsk two years ago and could jump at the chance to play regular football for Bournemouth following an injury-hit couple of seasons.

The winger, who is contracted to Tottenham until the summer of 2028, is unlikely to be a regular starter under Ange Postecoglou. And a transfer to the south coast could work in everyone’s favour, with Bournemouth desperate to establish themselves as a mid-table Premier League side.

Alejo Veliz

If Bournemouth aren’t tempted by Lo Celso or Solomon, Tottenham could offer the Cherries a loan deal for up-and-coming talent Alejo Veliz.

The 20-year-old joined Tottenham from Rosario Central a year ago and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla.

Veliz featured six times for the Spanish side and will be keen to have a crack at the Premier League, with Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola likely to be able to provide more short-term opportunities than Postecoglou.

Tottenham hit Dominic Solanke hurdle as transfer chiefs given response

Tottenham have reportedly been told that they will need to match Dominic Solanke’s £65million release clause if they wish to sign the Bournemouth talisman this summer, a fee that is currently deemed too high by the Spurs brass.

The Mirror claim that Bournemouth are insistent that only Solanke’s release clause paid in full will get them to consider parting ways with the 26-year-old, mindful that Liverpool are set to receive 20 per cent of any profit that the Cherries make on his £19m move to the south coast in 2019.

Reports recently emerged claiming that Solanke was made one of Spurs’ main targets this summer as they look to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s front line. They may need to consider offering players in exchange in order to lower the striker’s current valuation, however.

Solanke scored 19 Premier League goals last season, bettered only by Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak, with Andoni Iraola’s outfit prepared for significant interest in the one-cap England international.

And Spurs are expected to firm up their interest, led by boss Postecoglou. "It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us,” the Aussie recently said when asked about the prospect of bringing in another striker.

"At Celtic, I had Kyogo (Furuhashi), who was a sort of out-and-out number nine and in Japan, I've always had a striker. It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it's fair to say. You know but if Harry (Kane) would have stayed I definitely would have used him!

"So I think for us what's more important is the type of striker we get. You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it's going be a striker that fits that mould."

Some fans have insinuated that “dare to dream” relates to Solanke’s ambitions to play for a team in Europe in the coming season, though there is a significant barrier to overcome in the finances involved.

Spurs likely would be more prepared to shell out for Solanke if they find a buyer for Richarlison, amid interest from Saudi Arabia. Though teams from the Middle East have spent more cautiously than the previous year and links have cooled on the Brazilian leaving north London.

Dominic Solanke signs, £60m deal done - Tottenham's dream attack this season

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou is finally be ready to dip into the transfer market to replace Harry Kane - some 12 months after their former talisman left for Bayern Munich.

The Australian seems to be ready to ditch his blueprint of using Son Heung-min as a centre forward, despite the South Korean's return of 17 goals and 10 assists last season.

The 32-year-old is arguably more effective from the left flank and Postecoglou is reportedly in the market for a new striker, with doubts over Richarlison's long-term future.

The Brazilian has been linked with a £60million move to Saudi Arabia, although the striker has made it clear he wants to stay in north London. However, he made only 18 starts in the Premier League last season and Spurs would jump at the chance to make their money back on the 27-year-old.

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has been identified as a potential transfer target, with the £50m-rated frontman bagging 19 goals for the Cherries during the 2023-24 campaign.

Despite having 20-year-old Alejo Veliz available after his loan at Sevilla, the Argentinian could join Fiorentina. Postecoglou confirmed he is looking to add another striker to their ranks and dropped a hint about the profile of player they were looking to bring in.

"It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us," Postecoglou said.

He added: "At Celtic, I had Kyogo [Furuhashi], who was a sort of out and out number nine and in Japan, I've always had a striker. It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it's fair to say. But if Harry would have stayed I definitely would have used him!

Football.London report that the South Coast outfit are bracing themselves for an approach for Solanke, although with a £65m release clause - which can only be activated by certain clubs - it could represent an expensive deal.

Solanke would be tasked with spearheading the frontline, with Son on the left and Dejan Kulusevski on the right. Spurs are blessed with a luxury of options out wide, with Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Manor Solomon also able to come into the team.

Spurs could also cash in on midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who has made only 17 starts for the club since his £55m transfer from Real Betis four years ago. The 28-year-old may seek a return to his former club for a cut-price fee, and £15m may be enough to convince chairman Daniel Levy to cut ties.

With James Maddison occupying the No 10 role and exciting talents Lucas Bergvall and Alfie Devine providing backup, Spurs fans will be excited about the prospect of what their team could achieve this season.

Transfer news LIVE: Man Utd £23m bid as Spurs hijack Arsenal target

Manchester United are reportedly checking to establish whether the goalposts have been moved after Bayern Munich rejected a double bid for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt.

According to the Telegraph, United believed they met Bayern's valuation for the defensive duo, both of whom have been told they can leave.

So the Bundesliga giants' refusal to sell baffled United and the players' representatives.

However, the Red Devils' pursuit is still active.

Atletico Madrid reportedly want to hear from Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher before the end of the week.

Chelsea have accepted a £33m bid, but Gallagher hasn't yet agreed to join the La Liga giants.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico's deal could collapse if they are made to wait for a response beyond this week.

Chelsea held talks with Gallagher at Cobham today.

Chelsea have reportedly banished Conor Gallagher from first-team training as the club attempt to force him out.

According to talkSPORT, Gallagher has been informed that he is no longer part of the first-team group after rejecting two contract offers.

Chelsea have accepted a £33m bid from Atletico Madrid for the England midfielder, who hasn't yet decided whether he is willing to leave.

Newcastle have reportedly opened negotiations with Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi.

The England international has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been linked with the centre-back in recent weeks.

However, The Athletic report that Newcastle have looked to position themselves at the front of the queue to sign the 24-year-old by opening talks with Palace.

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has offered hope to Arsenal and Tottenham in their respective pursuits of Pedro Neto.

Speaking in pre-season, the Wolves boss revealed that his side would struggle to reject a significant bid for the Portugal international.

He said: “I know how good he is, and I know how well he would do at a big club. Obviously I want our team here to be unbelievably successful. So I’m hoping that he stays.

“There’s nothing going on at this moment from anybody. He’s in a good spot, I’ve spoken to him about how we’re going to play and how it suits him and what a big part he’ll play in it. But of course, we’re all grown-ups while you’re having them conversations. If a massive bid comes from a top club then no one is going to stand in Pedro’s way.”

Oscar Bobb is determined to fight for more minutes at Manchester City next season, amid interest from Chelsea.

That is according to Ben Jacobs, who reports that the winger is ‘content’ at the Etihad Stadium and is planning to spend the upcoming campaign at the club.

Chelsea are among a host of clubs who ‘appreciate’ Bobb, but the interest has not turned the head of the forward.

Manchester United have seen a joint-bid for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui rejected by Bayern Munich, reports The Athletic.

The Red Devils are keen to acquire the services of both defenders as soon as possible, with five-year contracts already agreed with both players.

United and the agent of both players felt that the bid would ‘satisfy’ Bayern’s demands and they have therefore been left surprised that the bid was knocked back.

Talks are ongoing to find a resolution.

Fulham have reportedly shown an interest in signing Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos.

According to the Daily Mail, the Brazilian defender could be allowed to leave Villa Park this summer after enduring a tough spell at the club due to injuries.

Fulham are among those to have shown an interest in the centre-back as they look to continue shaking up their ranks, with Carlos also having suitors elsewhere in Europe.

Newcastle are reportedly set to offer Anthony Gordon a new contract when he returns from his extended break.

The winger has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, with an agreement said to have been in place for him to join the club as part of a deal which would have seen Joe Gomez join the Magpies.

However, sales elsewhere meant Newcastle were not forced to offload the England international to raise funds, and they are now working towards retaining his services.

The Athletic report that the Magpies intend on offering Gordon a new deal upon his return from his extended holiday in an attempt to fend off interest from Liverpool.

Tottenham are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as they scour the market for a new No. 9.

The 26-year-old struck 19 goals in the Premier League last season and impressed with his hold-up play and clinical finishing, which saw him work his way onto the shortlisted names of striker targets at Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham are also interested in Solanke, although no formal bid has been submitted yet.

Spurs are keen to bolster their forward ranks as soon as possible and a bid in excess of £50m would test the resolve of the Cherries.

Newcastle have reportedly struck a deal to sign William Osula from Sheffield United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies have reached an agreement worth a total of £15million for the striker – with Eddie Howe’s side paying an initial fee of £10m to acquire the services of the 20-year-old.

Osula is keen to join Newcastle and now the ‘final details’ are being ironed out.

Fulham have reportedly submitted a third bid for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

According to Manchester Evening News, the new offer is worth £23million, which still falls short of the Red Devils’ valuation.

Erik ten Hag views McTominay as an ‘important squad player’ and would like to retain the services of the midfielder, but the Scotland international's contract expires next summer and a sale may therefore be required if the higher powers at the club are not willing to offer the academy graduate a new deal.

United are therefore willing to part ways with the McTominay if they receive an offer in the region of £30m.

Ange Postecoglou drops Dominic Solanke to Tottenham transfer hint as Spurs plot bid

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Tottenham are focusing on signing a centre-forward amid reports suggesting Dominic Solanke is a key target. Spurs struggled for firepower up front last season following the departure of Harry Kane on the eve of the campaign.

Solanke scored 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season, more than any Spurs player managed in the top-flight. Son Heung-min harboured most of the goalscoring responsibility in Postecoglou's squad, scoring 17 times.

The South Korean forward has generally preferred to play on the left wing during his nine years at Spurs, but often found himself deployed through the middle as Postecoglou tinkered his team to find a winning formula.

Postecoglou has preferred a more traditional number nine at his previous clubs and will target a similar profile this summer. Solanke fits that mould, while Spurs’ Australian head coach has confirmed that a striker is the priority in the transfer market.

He said: "It's still the area of the park we're really probably the thinnest when I talk about squad-wise at the moment, so obviously that's a focus for us."

He added: "At Celtic, I had Kyogo, who was a sort of out and out number nine and in Japan, I've always had a striker. It just depends, like last year we had to be a bit creative, it's fair to say. You know but if Harry would have stayed I definitely would have used him!

"So I think for us what's more important is the type of striker we get. You know we play a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective from the technical aspects of it that it's going be a striker that fits that mould."

Football.London report that Bournemouth are braced for the potential departure of Solanke. The former Chelsea prospect, now 26, could be attainable this summer.

It is claimed that Bournemouth have been tracking Aston Villa's Cameron Archer as a potential replacement for Solanke. Archer joined Sheffield United on a permanent deal last summer, but he has now returned to Villa in a unique deal.

The Midlands side had a buy-back option that was triggered after the Blades' relegation from the Premier League last term. Archer could be sold again if Bournemouth register an interest.

Meanwhile, Spurs are set for a double header of matches against Bayern Munich, although club icon Kane will not participate in tomorrow's friendly in Seoul. The striker may return from an extended break for the rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 10.

Tottenham have already had two Mikey Moore warnings as Son Heung-min singled out

Tottenham Hotspur's prodigy Mikey Moore is drawing comparisons to Adel Taarabt, and it's up to Spurs' stars like Son Heung-min to ensure the youngster stays on track. The 16-year-old sensation has been lighting up pre-season with goals against Hearts and a decisive strike in the 3-2 victory over Vissel Kobe.

Moore made history as Tottenham's youngest Premier League player with his appearance against Manchester City last term, and he's tipped to be a fixture in the senior squad this season. Lauded as one of the most promising talents to emerge from Spurs' ranks in recent times, the club is mindful of the parallels drawn by a former academy coach to Taarabt, whose career was marred by disciplinary issues.

In an interview with The Athletic, the coach praised Moore's exceptional ball skills, likening them to those of the ex-Tottenham and Morocco wizard, who now showcases his flair in Dubai with Al-Nasr. "He is a special talent," the unnamed former youth coach admitted.

"He has great technique. It's hard (to compare him). He's like a throwback player. In terms of his skill and ability, he is a bit like (former Tottenham and Morocco forward) Adel Taarabt."

The tale of Adel Taarabt, who dazzled with his ball skills but only made a mere 15 appearances for Tottenham before being offloaded, stands as a stark reminder that raw talent doesn't always translate to success. The now 35-year-old is often viewed as a player who didn't quite live up to the immense potential he displayed in his youth, reports Football London.

Simon Davies, the head of Spurs' academy, echoed this sentiment in May while discussing Moore. "It's encouraging that the manager sees something in Mikey but it is just potential at the moment," he said. "He's a 16-year-old boy. He's not 17 until August, so he's a young boy with high potential. We have several of them in the academy.

"It's exciting for the academy to have a player so young on the bench. But we have to stay calm and consistent. Because at the moment, it is just [potential]. I spoke to him this morning while he was having his breakfast about staying calm and consistent and keep working hard every day, do the small things right [because] the small things get noticed.

"He's super mature for a young boy so let's hope his potential is fulfilled but unfortunately we haven't got a crystal ball. So we just have to do all the things right every day and stay consistent and calm."

In an effort to ensure Moore's continued development at the senior level, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has identified Son Heung-min as a pivotal figure in the dressing room, lauding his attitude and drive.

"You've just heard Sonny at 32 yearsold, and he's done just about everything in the game but they still think they can improve," he said. "You have to have that mindset, whether you're 16 or 32, or god forbid you're 58 like me, you can always improve.

"If you have that mindset, particularly in football, but in elite sport, it doesn't always guarantee you'll be successful but it guarantees you'll get the maximum out of your career."

He also praised the mix of youth and experience within the squad: "The beauty for me is we have a lot of young players, but alongside Sonny, players like Ben Davies and other experienced players who set the right example every day. That's important."
