Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad has been shaken up after nine players wound down their contracts and departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Since the Australian manager joined the club, some key names have been ousted from the first-team picture. And numerous peripheral players have now left the club.

Spurs have already spent big this summer. Bringing in Leeds United starlet Archie Gray cost them £35million, and they are nowhere near close to being finished in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, among those to have departed are a former England international, Tottenham's most expensive signing, and some young stars who never lived up to their potential in N17.

Many of these exits were announced well before they officially timed out at the end of June, with Eric Dier one of the first to be told his contract would not be renewed. The England international centre-back left Spurs to join Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich on loan in January and enjoyed a decent spell under the German.

His stay at the Allianz then became permanent on an initial contract until 2025, which saw him depart for good alongside Ivan Perisic, who returned to his homeland of Croatia with Hajduk Split. Perisic, too, will stay with the club he was loaned out to, as the initial deal became permanent as soon as his Tottenham contract expired.

Two English youngsters who were tipped for great things also left the club as Japhet Tanganga joined Millwall permanently following a loan spell with the Championship side, and Ryan Sessegnon departed with the view to sign with another team on a free transfer. Crystal Palace have shown the greatest interest in signing the former Fulham starlet.

At £63million, Tanguy Ndombele is still Tottenham's record signing, and his time with the club was also up after a series of unsuccessful spells on loan. Joining in 2019 and moving back on loan to Lyon, Napoli, and Galatasaray after failing to make a dent on the first-team, the French midfielder's potential was never tapped into. He has reportedly agreed to join OGC Nice on a free transfer.

Young centre-half Charlie Sayers, scholarship player Billy Heaps, and U18 squad members Kieran Morgan and Han Willhoft-King are the remaining players who depart, having failed to make an impact on the first team.

Spurs have cleared house and still remain in the position to sell, paving the way for a few more summer signings as Ange Postecoglou hunts for success.

Archie Gray explains Ange Postecoglou role after sealing £30m Tottenham transfer

Archie Gray claims he joined Tottenham from Leeds because he “loves” Ange Postecoglou.

Gray and his family are huge Celtic fans because of his footballing grandad Frank’s Glasgow roots and he admires Postecoglou for winning five trophies in his two seasons at Celtic Park. The 18-year-old claims continuing his education under Postecoglou at Tottenham was a huge draw in his move from Leeds.

Gray has joined Spurs for £30million with Joe Rodon heading in the opposite direction to Elland Road for £10million. “I’m not going to lie to you,” Gray said in his first interview on the Tottenham website. “I’m a massive Celtic fan, so I love him, my whole family love him.

“I haven’t really said this to be fair, but he’s a massive factor because playing under a really good manager is really important for me as well. I’ve still got loads to learn because I’m only 18 so that’s really important.

“It still hasn’t sunk in to be honest and I don’t think it will for the next few days and until we’ve played a few games and I’ve got to meet everyone.

“I’m just really excited and looking forward to it. It’s massive opportunity for me and I’m really excited.

“When Spurs came and I had the opportunity to play in the Champions League eventually and the Europa League this year, you know I couldn’t really say no.” Gray, who has signed a six-year deal at Spurs, insists he is ready for the Premier League, despite just one season of first-team football when he made 52 appearances for Leeds.

“I think there are loads of things I’ve got to learn and I think parts of the Premier League would would suit me more than maybe the Championship would,” he said.

“I think I’m ready for it. I think the fitness side of it, suits my game so much and the technical aspects of it, really suits me. I think quite a lot of it suits me, but there’re obviously loads of things I need to start learning and I need to do that in pre-season.

“I need to get ready for that, obviously it’s a different league and I need to get ready for that. But I’m hoping that I’ll be able to learn really quickly and perform to my best in every game.”

Midfielder Gray was used mainly at right-back by Leeds last season and he claims he will lay anywhere for Spurs.

“Obviously, I see myself as a midfielder, that’s my ideal position,” he said. “But I don’t put myself down to one position and I think I’m a versatile player and I can play in a lot of positions on the pitch, which is really effective when you’ve got so many competitions and so many games this year.

“You don’t want to have too big of a squad and I think it can be really, really helpful for the team to be really versatile and I’m not bothered about where I play.”

Chris Packham at war with Tottenham Hotspur over 'bonkers' plans that are 'disconnected from reality'

Springwatch star Chris Packham has hit out at Tottenham Hotspur bosses over what he claims are "absolutely bonkers" plans to turn part of a public wildlife park into "grotesque" football fields.

Spurs want to develop part of Whitewebbs Park, in Enfield, north London, to turn it into a women's football academy. But Packham says: "They'll be no football on a dead planet….what we are up against is the bloated monster that is the football Premier League with its unfortunate economic might. This is another case of David versus Goliath.”

The land is home to 80 species of bird as well as bats, great-crested newts, badgers and butterflies. A judge ruled in favour of Spurs after local resident Sean Wilkinson took them to court - with Wilkinson now trying to urgently raise £20,000 to appeal the court’s decision.

And Packham is backing his fight, blasting: “What's the score at the moment? Tottenham: 1, Planet; , Nil. That's it isn't it.”

He added: “If they've done without the astro turf and pitches up until this point then why do they need it there now? We are going to lose so much valuable space for what are essentially football pitches. We are losing that acid rich grassland to a small group of people behind fences who kick a ball around. It's absolutely nonsensical.”

He said that the world was in the grip of a climate emergency…and that green spaces such as this was crucial for people’s mental health. Chris added: “This is at a time where we are conscious of the fact we need to protect every last square of greenery, particularly in cities where it has multiple values. It's not just about nature conservation, it's about people's mental health and access to nature for people who are living in a crowded urban environment. It's absolutely bonkers and Spurs are totally disconnected from reality.”

Chris said how his recent London march called Restore Nature Now had more than 100,000 people attend. “Frankly, nature needs to come first. If they need new pitches, put them somewhere where it doesn't matter. Whitewebbs Park matters. So, you can't have it. That's the point we should be at. The reality is that we can't afford to lose anymore green spaces in our cities, they keep the cities cool. You only need a map to look at the world, to see that many parts of it are cooking.”

Spurs have said that The Women’s and Girls’ Training facility will only take up around 18 per cent of the Whitewebbs site, with the club pledging to restore the former golf course to historic parkland, repair a pond and build a new cafe and meeting area. Spurs say they are planting 3,000 new trees, as well as upgrading fingootpaths and creating a birdwatching platform and "biodiversity corridor". They say that nine pitches have been proposed, of which only one will be astro-turf.

England boss Gareth Southgate has already made feelings clear as Tottenham 'work on hijack'

England manager Gareth Southgate sees a bright future for Leeds United's young sensation, Archie Gray, as Tottenham plot a move to bring him to north London.

The 18-year-old midfield prodigy from Durham has had a stunning spell in the Championship this year with Leeds, making a commendable 44 appearances under the guidance of Daniel Farke. Moreover, Gray's performance in England's Under-21 squad has been no less impressive, with him netting a goal against Azerbaijan in his debut earlier this year.

And his efforts at club level in particular have certainly not skipped Southgate's notice. Back in May, the England boss lauded Gray's hard work and dedication at his club and hinted at including the youngster in upcoming senior England squads.

While unveiling the Euro 2024 squad last month, Southgate said: "There are some players with the Under-21s who are doing exceptionally well, especially in midfield. The likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Harvey Elliott, Rico [Lewis] was with us last time, Archie Gray at Leeds is doing very, very well I have to say, so there are a number of players in that group we could move in."

The last Championship run saw Leeds secure a third-place finish, before falling short to Southampton in the Wembley Play-Off final. But many top-tier league gaffers believe that another stint in the Championship may push Gray to consider transfer offers, reports the Express.

Leeds has reportedly rejected a whopping £40million offer from Brentford for the midfield starlet, even though he was permitted for a medical check-up over the weekend. And Spurs have reportedly kicked off negotiations for the much-coveted midfielder after keeping tabs on him for an extended period.

Tottenham boss, Ange Postecoglu, is set to have a sit-down with the sought-after youngster this Sunday, as he aims to seal what could be a thrilling transfer. Chelsea and Arsenal might be in the race for the prodigious teen, but The Athletic report that Gray's got his sights set on Tottenham.

With Leeds' head honcho Paraag Marathe hinting at the need to balance the books, this deal might just be on the fast track. Marathe recently said: "If I can paint the big picture for you, there are certain things that we need to do, and we will make sure we are fully compliant with PSR, as we always have been.

"And there are certain trade-offs that we have to make and so we'll have to get to the drawing board and figure out which moves we have to make sure that we are compliant. It's too early to say. Obviously Archie is a tremendous player, as are all of the players who put in so much effort for us, but you know, every season brings change and so I can't yet comment on it, but we'll see what happens."

Gray's arrival would be a major boost for Spurs' midfield, particularly after Tanguy Ndombele parted ways with the club. If Tottenham want to secure the hot prospect, they'll need to offer up the £30 million that Leeds are reportedly asking for.

now I’m worth more than 11 Prem team’s’ squads’

Barcelona youngster Pau Curbasi is worth more than ten Premier League squad teams after a whopping £423m (€500m) release clause was written into his contract in May.

Despite interest from Chelsea and Spurs last summer, the 17-year-old centre-back will remain with the Catalan giants until 2027 unless a club is prepared to fork out the staggering sum. It follows Curbasi's contract renewal in May, with Fabrizio Romano previously reporting that the buy-out clause was expected to be £855million (€1billion).

However, the finalised release clause for the talented defender ended up being £423m (€500m), still a figure likely to deter any potential suitors. Last summer, Chelsea were reportedly eager to secure the young talent, with Spanish media claiming they had 'pushed to sign' him despite him not having made a first-team debut for Barca.

Spurs also reportedly showed interest in the Spaniard when his release clause was a more manageable £13million - a sum easily within reach for top Premier League clubs. However, with the now astronomical fee, it seems Curbasi will be staying put at Barcelona after turning down the opportunity to leave and breaking into the first team.

The Espanyol-born player rose through the youth ranks at Girona before switching his loyalties to Barcelona in 2018. He made his professional debut for Barcelona Athletic (Barcelona B) in 2023, and this year he made his first-team debut at Camp Nou, playing 19 times for his club in La Liga alongside Ronald Araujo, reports Football London.

In a surprising twist, Curbasi was left out of Spain's final squad for Euro 2024, with Aymeric Laporte, Nacho Fernandez and Robin Le Normand all being chosen over him. However, this doesn't seem to have affected the team, who topped their Euro 2024 group with victories over Croatia, Albania and Italy and will face Georgia in the round of 16 on Sunday.

Release clauses are not only popular in many countries, but they are also mandatory in Spain - and have been for about 40 years. This is due to player welfare rights and prevents a club from holding onto a player against their will. While some players may have more reasonable release clauses - for instance, Ousmane Dembele only has one of £42m (€50m) - some of La Liga's top stars have astronomical prices to keep them in Spain.

It's reported that Jude Bellingham has a staggering £855m (€1billion) clause at Real Madrid, while Barca prodigy Pedri has the same jaw-dropping figure in his contract. Here, The Mirror looks at all of the Premier League squads that Curbasi is worth more than.

Ipswich Town - £40.62m

With Ipswich just being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, it comes as little to no surprise that the Tractor Boys haven't exactly got a bank-busting squad on their books. Their most valued player is left-back Leif Davis at £7.62m (€9m), while Conor Chaplin £5.9m (€7m), Harry Clarke £4.2 (€5m), Nathan Broadhead £4.2 (€5m) and George Hirst £3.39m (€4m) make up the club's top five valued players.

Southampton - £121.7m

Despite only being vacant from the top flight of English football for a year, Southampton offloaded a tonne of talent when they were condemned to the depths of the Championship. Nathan Redmond, Fraser Forster, Shane Long and Harry Lewis all left the club on frees, while Oriol Romeu went to Girona for £4.6m (€5.5m). And while the club still have the likes of £12.7m (€15m) star man Che Adams and £16.95 (€20m) Kyle Walker-Peters, they're a long way off in terms of the bigger clubs.

Leicester City - £169.76m

It comes as little surprise that Leicester held the highest squad value of the championship in the 2023/24 campaign with the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£25.4/€30m), Wout Faes (£16.95/€20m) and Wilfred Ndidi (£13.5m/€16) on the books, but with depleting market values in Jamie Vardy (£847,000/€1m) and Jannik Vestegaard (£2.5m/€3m) they'll be playing catch-up this summer.

Fulham - £274.85m

There's no doubt that Fulham have some top-tier talent in their ranks, consistently building year in, and year out since finding Premier League stability once again. Joao Palhinha, Alex Iwobi and Issa Diop have a combined value of more than £84.7m (€100m), and that's not even scratching the surface of the squad. Still a far cry from the buy-out clause for Curbasi, though.

Everton - £296.12

It would be easy to assume that Everton have a far higher squad value than they actually do - after all, they've never left the Premier League and they have a number of top talents in the likes of Amadou Onana, Beto, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil who could each bring in a small fortune should they sell. However, Transfermarkt have their squad valuation at £296.12m (€349.4m) - over €150m less than Curbasi's asking price.

Wolves - £296.45m

Wolves may have £46.6m (€55m) man Pedro Neto, £38.1m (€45m) Matheus Cunha, £29.6m (€35m) Joao Gomes and £29.6m (€35m) Rayan Aït-Nouri among their incredibly strong squad, but they're only £330,000 better off than Everton according to Transfermarkt. It will be interesting to see who Gary O'Neil brings to Molineux this summer to bolster last year's 14th-place finish.

AFC Bournemouth - £325.83m

The Cherries have never particularly had a team filled with world-beaters - but a select number of star players keep their reported value in good stead. The likes of Ilya Zabarnyi, Marcos Senesi, Alex Scott, Marcus Tavernier and Dominic Solanke are all worth their weight in gold to the club, but on the whole, the squad is still worth less than Curbasi.

Nottingham Forest - £328.2m

It's no secret that Forest splurged when they made it back to the Premier League in 2022 after winning the playoffs, bringing in Morgan Gibbs-White, Taiwo Awoniyi, Danilo and Neco Williams for more than £16.95m (€20m) each - but their squad value sits with centre-half Murillo, Ibrahim Sangare and Anthony Elagna. Still though, not a patch on Curbasi.

Brentford - £351.62m

When you think of Brentford, you probably jump straight to star striker Ivan Toney - and rightly so given his reported £42.3 (€50m) market value at the time of writing. However, there are a number of other players who bolster the London club's market value. Bryan Mbeumo is said to be worth £33.9m (€40m), Yoanne Wissa £23.7m (€28m), Nathan Collins £21.1m (€25m) and Aaron Hickley £23.7m (€28m).

West Ham United - £372.57m

West Ham United would arguably have a squad value exceeding the €500m buyout set for Curbasi should they have kept a hold of Declan Rice, who made the move to Arsenal last summer for £100m. And they still teeter on the verge of matching the Barca starlet's value, with players like Lucas Paqueta at £55m (€65m), Jarrod Bowen at £42.3m (€50m), Edson Alvarez at £29.6m (€35m) and James Ward-Prowse at £25.4m (€30m).

Crystal Palace - £374.35m

Finally, Curbasi is said to have a higher market value than Crystal Palace's squad altogether - despite Eberechi Eze's valuation of £46.6m (€55m). Fellow England star Marc Guehi adds £32.2m (€38m) to the club, Joachim Andersen £29.6m (€35m), Michael Olise £46.6m (€55m) and Adam Wharton £25.4 (€30m). Still, though, they fall just short of Curbasi's €500m buyout clause.

Chelsea 'in talks' over bargain deal for striker who was Tottenham's 'No 1' Kane replacement

Chelsea have reportedly held talks over a cut-price move for Lille striker Jonathan David.

Enzo Maresca's side are in the market for a new forward to rival Nicolas Jackson to be Chelsea's first-choice number nine. David has been prolific in Ligue 1 for several years, prompting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur were previously linked with a move for the Canada international, with reports suggesting that former manager Antonio Conte viewed the 24-year-old as a possible successor to Harry Kane, before the Italian coach left in early 2023.

However, when Kane made his move to Bayern Munich, Spurs chose not to directly replace him, instead bringing in winger Brennan Johnson. Chelsea could now swoop in and capitalise on that decision with a bargain deal for David this summer.

It has been reported that Chelsea are seriously weighing up a move for Lille's star striker. Sky Sport in Germany has reported that the west London club have made inquiries about the 24-year-old, who is also believed to be on West Ham and Manchester United's wish list.

David's hefty £51million price tag last summer seemingly deterred Spurs but he is expected to be available for a much lower fee. With the striker entering the final year of his contract, Lille are reportedly willing to accept between £17 and £21million (€20-25million).

Chelsea will be thrilled with the new asking price as they look to strengthen their forward options, despite Jackson scoring 14 league goals in his debut campaign. David featured in every Ligue 1 match this season, scoring 19 goals as he helped steer Lille to Champions League qualification and proved why Conte was reportedly interested in the striker.

Have your say! Would Jonathan David be a good signing for Chelsea? Have your say in the comments section below

Spurs are also searching for a new striker this summer and David is believed to still be on the club's wishlist. The Canada international is currently competing at Copa America and will hope to add to the 26 goals he scored for Lille in all competitions.

The striker's form this season highlights why he would be a target for Chelsea and Spurs, who both missed out on their aim of a top-four place last term. It remains to be seen how Chelsea will fare under Maresca but there appeared to be green shoots in the final months of Mauricio Pochettino's reign.

Meanwhile, Spurs are focused on bringing in a new number nine after narrowly falling short of a top-four finish. Son Heung-min was predominantly used in the central role, scoring 17 league goals, but Ange Postecoglou's side struggled for positive results when the captain was used as a striker, earning 36 points from 23 games.

Nearly a year after Kane's departure, David's probable exit from Lille serves as a stark reminder that Spurs have a major issue to address this summer. However, Chelsea will hope to spoil their rival's plans by snapping up David at a bargain price.

Tottenham are in pole position to land Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida - after new Liverpool manager Arne Slot told his Anfield bosses that he was reluctant to make a Dutchman his first signing.

Geertruida, 23, who played for the Netherlands against France in the Euros on Friday night, is one of Europe’s hottest young properties and is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.

Sources in Holland have suggested Slot is a big admirer of a player who is valued at £25million by his Rotterdam-based club.

But after seeing Erik ten Hag get criticised for talking so many Eredivisie players with him to Manchester United, his reluctance to make the deal happen quickly has opened the door for Spurs.

‌The London club watched Geertruida regularly last season and are hoping he opts for the English capital ahead of Paris. PSG also have the central defender, who can also play at right-back and as a holding midfielder, on their radar but they need to wait for the sale of two other defensive players before launching a bid.

Leipzig tried to land Geertruida last summer when they had a £25million bid rejected. Feyenoord wanted £10million more to make the deal happen but have accepted they will have to slash their valuation now that Geertruida has just 12 months left on his contract.

‌Geertruida is a fan of the Premier League and regularly flies over to London to see some of his friends play in big games when he is not playing for his club.

‌He is one of the Dutch club’s most popular players at Feyenoord after emerging from the tough backstreets of Rotterdam south to play for his hometown club.
