Tottenham Hotspurs manager Thomas Frank has addressed the incident that took place after his team’s loss to Chelsea in a London Derby.

Spurs lost 1-0 to Chelsea at the Tottenham Stadium in one of the worst performances from the home side in years prompting several boos from fans after the game.

Tottenham attempted just three shots in the game and finished the contest with an xG [Expected Goals] mark of 0.05 which is the team’s worst since the 2012-2013 season.

Spurs defender Micky van de Ven and winger Djed Spence walked straight to the tunnel after the game and ignored Thomas Frank’s request to show appreciation to the fans but Frank says the incident is just a “small issue”.

“I think that [it] is one of the small issues. They [van de Ven and Spence] are doing everything they can. They perform very well so far this season and everyone is frustrated.”

“All the players are of course frustrated. They would like to do well, they would like to win, they would like to perform well, so I understand that.”

“I would say that, of course, hurt massively. I’ve never been in charge of a team that created that little in one game, never. So that, of course, I will look into what we can do to make it better” Frank said per ESPN.

EPL on Citi: Tottenham Hotspur sink Manchester United at Old Trafford

Tottenham produced an utterly dominant performance as they beat miserable Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Brennan Johnson scored early following Micky van de Ven’s driving run and though Bruno Fernandes’ red card made United’s task trickier, Spurs were superior throughout. Goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke better reflected their superiority.

The result leaves Erik Ten Hag’s team languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table and the United manager facing fresh questions about what exactly he is building. Back-to-back wins for Ange Postecoglou’s side lift them to eighth.

Tottenham overwhelmed United from the kick-off with Van de Ven’s extraordinary run setting up the breakthrough goal. The home side were trying to counter but in stepped the big centre-back, setting the tone by surging half the length of the pitch.

Johnson converted unmarked at the far post for his fourth goal in four games and came close to adding a second soon after when he hit the post following another sweeping move down the Spurs left. There was even a Cristian Romero scissor kick that was just wide.

Alejandro Garnacho did volley against the outside of the post but it offered the briefest of respite. The first of two Timo Werner chances at the other end was far clearer but he could not beat Andre Onana either time. United were abject, the gulf in quality alarming.

Fernandes’ red card late in the first half, harsh given he slipped before connecting with James Maddison’s ankle, only exacerbated the issue. United could not regroup, Kulusevski doubling the advantage with a cushioned volley soon after the interval.

Tottenham have suspended Yves Bissouma for their Premier League game at Leicester City on Monday after footage appeared to show the midfielder inhaling laughing gas.

Spurs have made the move despite the 27-year-old apologising for a “severe lack of judgement”, having posted a video of himself on social media on Saturday which showed him inhaling from a balloon.

Possession of nitrous oxide – also known as laughing gas or NOS – for recreational use has been a criminal offence in the United Kingdom since 2023 and can result in a two-year prison sentence.

“We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game,” said Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.

“Beyond that, there’s also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, as well as Biss and the group. That’s what he needs to work hard at from now on – to try to win that back. He’s going to have to earn that.

“The door is open for him and, hopefully, we can help him realise the decisions he makes impacts more than just him.

“Hopefully, it allows him to make better decisions moving forward.”

Postecoglou further explained his disappointment at Bissouma’s behaviour.

“There’s the personal ramifications, because it’s illegal,” said the former Celtic manager.

“Then there’s the professional responsibility – the example you set as a professional footballer – because there are so many people who follow the Premier League and we’re all in a pretty privileged position.
