Fikayo Tomori wants to stay at AC Milan after advanced talks with Tottenham, according to Sky Italy.

Spurs are looking to add a defender before Monday's 11pm transfer deadline and the 27-year-old was one of a number of options the club were looking at.

Postecoglou's side have been severely hindered by defensive injuries throughout the current campaign.

Postecoglou said on Friday Cristian Romero is still a few weeks away from a return, while fellow centre-back Radu Dragusin picked up an injury in Thursday's Europa League home win over Elfsborg.

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has also rejected a move to Tottenham in the past 24 hours after the clubs had agreed a £50m deal.

Spurs are yet to sign an outfield player going into the final days of the transfer window.

Speaking about the fitness of his back four ahead of the upcoming clash against Brentford, live on Sky Sports this Sunday, Postecoglou said: "Still not sure, we'll let it settle down and get more information over the weekend. He's [Dragusin] obviously not available for this weekend.

"In terms of others, Djed Spence should be available for the weekend, Sergio Reguilon should be OK.

"Every time I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be an oncoming train."

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said on Friday Cristian Romero is still a few weeks away, while fellow centre-back Radu Dragusin picked up an injury in Thursday's Europa League home win over Elfsborg.

Postecoglou's defence has been severely hindered by injuries throughout the current campaign.

Speaking on the fitness of his back four ahead of the upcoming clash against Brentford, live on Sky Sports this Sunday, Postecoglou said: "Still not sure, we'll let it settle down and get more information over the weekend. He's [Dragusin] obviously not available for this weekend.

"In terms of others, Djed Spence should be available for the weekend, Sergio Reguilon should be OK.

"Every time I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be an oncoming train."

On other players in the squad, the Spurs boss added: "They're all around 10 days' time, Vic [Guglielmo Vicario], [Brennan] Johnson, Destiny [Udogie], Wilson [Odobert], Timo [Werner]. [Cristian] Romero is a tricky one.

"There's still work to do but all those guys, apart from Dom [Solanke], [who's] a week behind, are all slated for the next week to 10 days.

"[With Romero] it's just a slow healer, looking at a week-to-week basis. He's been out a while, it's just taking time."

'Tomori would be good cover for Spurs'

Sky Sports News' Michael Bridge speaking on the Transfer Show:

"There have been early discussions and we're not yet sure if it would be a permanent deal or a loan but Fikayo Tomori is one of a number of options Spurs are considering.

"Ange Postecoglou said to our reporter Gary Cotterill in Friday's press conference that they would consider a defender.

"Radu Dragusin hurt his knee on Thursday night, I don't think Cristian Romero is anywhere near returning and Micky van de Ven returned on Thursday but Spurs don't want this problem again with injuries at the back.

"There could be potential cover and if it is Tomori that would be good cover."

Merson: A lot of teams will want Tomori

Sky Sports' Paul Merson on the Transfer Show:

"I think there will be a lot of teams after Tomori. Manchester United could do with him and Arsenal could as well. Arsenal have two centre-halves but you always say if one of them get injured, they're right up against it.

"Tomori could get in a lot of teams and will be wanted by a lot of teams. One of them could be Aston Villa as well, who have just got a lorry load of money from the Jhon Duran deal, a £50m profit."

Tel turns down Spurs move

Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has rejected a move to Tottenham, according to Sky in Germany.

Sky Sports News understands Spurs and Bayern had reached a verbal agreement on a £50m deal.

But the teenager has reportedly turned down a move to Postecoglou's side and is more open to a loan deal.

There is interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester United in the 19-year-old.

He has also not decided whether he wants to go on loan or permanently, having previously been determined to breakthrough at Bayern.

Spurs face rival interest for Tel from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli , who are managed by German Matthias Jaissle.

Manchester United have made tentative enquiries about Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel. However, any potential deal is likely to depend on departures at Old Trafford.

Chelsea and Aston Villa also remain interested in Tel.

But Spurs are hoping more regular game time will persuade him to join them over others.

At £50m, he would become Bayern's most expensive ever sale.

Stade Rennais - Tel's former club - have a share of the sell-on in the region of 10 to 15 per cent.

Analysis: Why Tel is in demand

Sky Sports' Nick Wright:

Tel has been a peripheral figure for Bayern Munich this season, playing only 344 minutes across their Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns without scoring. But at 19, he remains a thrilling talent with plenty to offer and plenty of room for improvement.

He demonstrated his immense potential last season, contributing nine goals and six assists across the Bundesliga and Champions League, despite mostly featuring as a substitute, and averaging an eye-catching 1.15 goal involvements per 90 minutes.

Context is important, of course. Many of those substitute appearances came at points in games where Bayern were already several goals up. But his talent is not in doubt. It is what convinced Bayern to pay roughly £23m to land him at the age of only 17 in 2022.

Tel is quick, strong in the air and, crucially, an accomplished finisher. His versatility is another asset.

As shown in the graphic above, Tel's minutes at Bayern have been split across different positions. He has played the highest share of minutes on the left, where he is able to cut in on his right foot. But he is also adept with his left foot and has also been used on the right, as a central striker, and even in midfield.

He would have to adapt to new surroundings in the Premier League, of course. Hitting the ground running would be a challenge mid-season. But it is easy to understand the interest, even if he would not come cheaply to any side looking to sign him permanently.

'Tel a great character but he needs minutes'

Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg:

"He is a great character. He is 19 years old but he has learned to speak German very fast and very well.

"The fans love him. He is always friendly. He says hello to everyone working at the club and at the training ground, and to every fan.

"The fans cannot understand why he might leave Bayern but there is an understanding of the fact that he needs regular playing time.

"He is a fantastic guy, open-minded and always smiling, but he needs to choose the right club right now because this is a very important step in his career.

"He is not a regular player at Bayern. He is far away from that. Now, he has to gain minutes."
