Another Kulusevski: Spurs want to sign "unreal" PL star before the deadline

Tottenham Hotspur have been quiet during the January transfer window this month, only making one senior addition in the form of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who joined from Slavia Prague a couple of weeks ago.

However, Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy appear to have ramped up their efforts to land reinforcements before the window closes on Monday night, with Mathys Tel having looked the most likely to move to North London in the coming days.

Spurs already agreed a fee with Bayern Munich for the 19-year-old, but the teenager has reportedly rejected the proposal, handing the Lilywhites a real blow late in the window.

Owner Levy travelled to Munich on Friday afternoon to try and progress the deal, although those efforts appear to have been in vain, with the club now looking to other targets instead.

With that in mind, efforts could be ramping up to land another attacking talent before the window closes until the summer.

Spurs plotting move to land £55m PL star

According to The Express, Spurs are plotting a move for Southampton attacker Tyler Dibling to further improve their forward line in the coming days.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a superb breakout campaign despite the Saints’ struggles in 2024/25, scoring twice in 20 appearances, but catching the eye with his direct and fearless nature.

The report claims that the winger has emerged as a serious target, with the north Londoners ideally wanting to secure a move this month rather than the summer, with his current side desperate to keep hold of him until the end of the season at least.

It also states that Spurs youngster Tyrese Hall has been discussed internally at St Mary’s to be included in any potential deal which would see Dibling move to North London - with Postecoglou wanting to loan out the youngster this window.

However, it’s previously been reported that the Saints are holding out for a fee in the region of £55m for the teenager, as they look to fend off any interest from the likes of the Lilywhites.

Any move could see the Englishman follow in the footsteps of one player who’s thrived at the club in recent times after his own winter transfer to North London.

Why Dibling could be another Kulusevski for Spurs

Swedish international Dejan Kulusevski has been a shining light through what has proved to be a disappointing campaign for the club to date, often being the man to make things happen in attacking areas.

The 24-year-old has registered 18 combined goals and assists throughout 2024/25 to date, a tally that is his highest since completing his move to the club back in January 2022.

This campaign has even seen Kulusevski shift into a more central role on occasions to help boss Postecoglou cope with the injury crisis - but he’s taken to the role like a duck to water.

Undoubtedly, he’s now one of the first names on the teamsheet for Spurs on a regular basis, with it being hard to imagine where the side might be if it hadn’t been for his contributions.

However, any move for Dibling could see the club land another version of the former Juventus talent, with the Southampton star very similar to Kulusevski in terms of their favoured foot, ability to feature centrally or out wide and their creative nature.

When comparing their respective stats from 2024/25, the teenager has matched or bettered the Swede in various key areas, highlighting how much of an impressive addition he would be to the side.

Dibling, who’s previously been dubbed an "unreal talent" by analyst Ben Mattinson, may have registered slightly fewer combined goals and assists but has bettered the current first-team star for take-ons completed, subsequently achieving a better success rate - offering Ange the direct threat that he’s been missing as of late.

He’s also registered slightly more shots per 90, whilst matching Kulusevski for shots on target per 90, demonstrating he has that end product to match his mazy runs and powerful sprints with the ball at his feet.

£55m may seem like a huge investment for such a young talent who’s only just broken through into the first team and started to make his mark in the Premier League.

However, if he’s producing such impressive figures at such a tender age, it’s a scary thought of how good he could become should he follow in the Swede’s footsteps at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Better than Tel: Spurs make contact to sign "one of the biggest talents"

Description

Injuries have decimated Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur squad throughout 2024/25, handing the Aussie a near-impossible task of achieving anything this campaign.

He’s often had to play talents in positions they’re unfamiliar with, resulting in numerous makeshift positions, including the backline, with usual centre-backs Mickey van de Ven and Cristian Romero both missing for large periods.

However, with just a couple of days remaining in the window, goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky remains the only new senior addition, leaving Postecoglou with work still to be done if the current situation is to be resolved.

As a result of their crisis, the Lilywhites currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, looking over their shoulder rather than upwards in an attempt to pull clear of any looming trouble.

With just 15 games to go, it’s safe to say that the league season has been a right off, potentially looking ahead to next year, with the addition of one player aiding their cause to ensure such a situation doesn’t rear its head once more.

Spurs' search for a forward

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Spurs have held concrete talks with striker Stefanos Tzimas over a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 19-year-old has spent the ongoing campaign on loan at Bundesliga 2 side FC Nurnberg, impressing in front of goal, scoring ten times in 17 matches across all competitions.

The German side are expected to trigger his buy option from PAOK, before selling him in the same window, with Postecoglou’s side battling with Brighton and Aston Villa for the services of the €25m (£20m) talent.

Plettenberg confirmed that Fabian Hurzeler and co are currently leading the race for his signature, but that Spurs are engaged in negotiations over a move for the Greek star.

It would be a superb deal for such a promising talent, with the fee they would fork out potentially much cheaper than that of another player who appears to edging closer to a move to North London this month.

Why Tzimas could be even better than Tel for Spurs

In recent days, Spurs had seemingly moved even closer to landing another talent to join the first-team squad in the form of Bayern Munich youngster Mathys Tel.

It was confirmed that the Lilywhites had held talks with his representatives and were open to paying the demanded €60m (£50m) fee for the Bundesliga side to part ways with the talented Frenchman.

Any deal for Tel would have been a big statement from Daniel Levy, especially considering the competition from other English sides such as Chelsea and bitter North London rivals Arsenal.

However, the teenager is said to have rejected the chance to move to N17, putting the club back to square one. Regardless, perhaps the Lilywhites would have been better off waiting for a move to sign wonderkid Tzimas anyway, with the Greek international producing numerous figures better than the Bayern talent throughout 2024/25.

Tzimas, who’s been dubbed “one of the biggest talents” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has massively outscored the Frenchman, whilst also registering more shots on target per 90, showcasing his added clinical edge in the final third.

He’s also won more aerials per 90 whilst also creating more chances for his teammates, subsequently able to provide other attackers with opportunities to improve their own goalscoring tallies, making him an all-round option for Postecoglou’s side.

Given the contrasting goalscoring tallies and all-round attributes, the current Nurnberg loanee would be a better option than Tel for Spurs in the coming months, handing them the added threat which has been greatly desired.

The huge difference in fee would also prove a real bonus, with a move for Tzimas allowing for added investment across other areas of the pitch as a result.

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has travelled abroad for face-to-face talks with a top January target, with time running out for manager Ange Postecoglou to get an outfield signing or two through the door.

Tottenham chasing late January deal for Mathys Tel

Earlier this week, credible reports surfaced that Spurs have agreed a £50 million deal to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old, who was a mainstay under ex-Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel, has found his opportunities much more limited under Vincent Kompany - prompting his decision to move on before the end of this January window.

Postecoglou's side then emerged as fierce contenders for the Frenchman's signature, after their widely reported failed attempt to land Randal Kolo Muani on a loan deal from PSG, with Spurs shaking hands on a fee for Tel before every other interested club.

However, the hold up in this potential deal is down to Tel himself, who apparently remains undecided over a switch to Spurs. Sky Sports even claimed this afternoon that Tel may rather go out on loan and return to Bayern, as opposed to a permanent Premier League move.

"It's a £50 million bid which the club, Bayern Munich, have certainly entertained that idea, but it's the player who hasn't decided," said one of the broadcaster's reporters live on air this lunchtime (via X).

"If he does want to move away, will he want to make it a permanent move? Potentially not, we hear. He might just want to go on loan, because he sees himself as having a future in the long-term at Bayern Munich. So, Tottenham potentially leading the race for him, but still a long way to go."

This could spell trouble for the north Londoners, as it may hand fellow rumoured competitors Arsenal, Chelsea, Al-Ahli and Man United a route back into the race, despite their club-to-club agreement.

Daniel Levy travels for Tottenham transfer talks with Mathys Tel

According to Fabrizio Romano, Levy is now taking matters into his own hands. It is believed Levy has travelled to Munich for talks with Tel, as he looks to get Postecoglou's first outfield signing of the window done as soon as possible, before other interested sides have a chance to pounce.

"Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has arrived in Munich today in order to accelerate talks for Mathys Tel," said Romano on social media this afternoon.

"Agreement already done with Bayern, face to face talks now with Tel and his agent. Spurs trying to push, as they’re aware of competition from Premier League clubs."

The versatile teenager can play in a nunber of positions across the attacking front three, making him a very useful potential new addition, so Postecoglou will be very keen for this one to be done.

Tottenham possibly leading race for striker who can bag "40 goals a season"

Tottenham Hotspur are "potentially leading the race" for a striker "capable of scoring 40 goals a season", with chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange trying to get one outfield signing through the door before February 3rd.

Tottenham targeting late January deal to sign new striker for Postecoglou

Dominic Solanke is expected to be out for well over a month after injuring his knee in training, and amid Spurs' injury crisis, this spells real trouble for Postecoglou who has previous few alternatives to the 27-year-old.

Spurs tried to sign Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG earlier this month, but were eventually thwarted in their attempts by Juventus, who ended up winning the race for his signature and bagged the versatile attacker on a straight temporary deal.

Now, Levy and Lange's attention has switched to Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel, and they appear to be making serious headway in pursuit of the versatile young striker.

Reliable media sources are claiming that Tottenham have already agreed a fee to sign Tel permanently for around £50 million, but the 19-year-old is apparently taking his time to make a decision over whether he'll join the Lilywhites.

Sky Sports have their own update on the situation from this lunchtime, and they share exactly why Tel is in mixed minds over making the move to north London.

Tottenham leading Mathys Tel race, but player might desire loan move

As per the broadcast giant, via X, Tel might just want to leave Bayern on loan, rather than indefinitely - even if Spurs are possibly in pole position for his services after being the only club to submit a concrete bid.

"We understand that Tottenham are the only team to come in with a bid to buy the player," claimed a Sky reporter.

"It's a £50 million bid which the club, Bayern Munich, have certainly entertained that idea, but it's the player who hasn't decided.

"If he does want to move away, will he want to make it a permanent move? Potentially not, we hear. He might just want to go on loan, because he sees himself as having a future in the long-term at Bayern Munich. So, Tottenham potentially leading the race for him, but still a long way to go."

Tottenham reach out to agents over signing "remarkably quick" £25m defender

Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with intermediaries as they eye a late January move for one "remarkably" fast defender, with manager Ange Postecoglou arguably in need of more centre-back options.

Spurs urged to sign new centre-back before deadline day

As the Lilywhites wait for Mathys Tel's decision over join them, after agreeing a fee with Bayern Munich (Fabrizio Romano), technical director Johan Lange and the Spurs recruitment team remain hard at work on other potential incomings.

Tottenham have apparently guaranteed Bayern a £50 million payment for Tel's signature before the end of this January window, coming as good news for supporters who could see the highly-rated Frenchman bolster Postecoglou's attacking options.

However, despite Micky van de Ven's return to the team and Cristian Romero being back in training, you can make a serious case that the north Londoners should at least attempt to sign central defensive cover before the window shuts in four days time.

Van de Ven, Romero and Ben Davies' absences from the side in recent months forced teenager Archie Gray into an unfamiliar role, partnering Radu Dragusin at the heart of Postecoglou's defence, and the Australian will be keen to not be left so short in that area during the second half of 24/25.

Spurs have been urged to sign a fresh defender before the clock runs out, and many were linked in the build up to January.

A rumoured option under consideration by Lange is AC Milan's Fikayo Tomori, with the Englishman ticking many boxes as a homegrown player and one who possesses plenty of experience at the highest level.

Tottenham are considering a bid for Tomori, according to some reports, and Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari says that the 27-year-old remains in their thinking.

Tottenham reach out to agents over signing Fikayo Tomori in January

Longari, via X, claims that Tottenham have probed intermediaries to gauge Tomori's availability - with the £25 million ace one of many potential San Siro exits as we approach the final days of this window.

The former Chelsea defender started his career at Milan in impressive fashion, earning call-ups to the England squad, but his place in the starting eleven has been less guaranteed this campaign.

This could hand Spurs an opportunity to tempt him with a move back to the Premier League, and his sheer pace could suit Postecoglou's high-line down to the ground.

Their own Watkins: Spurs make contact for one of "the best CFs in the PL"

The transfer window slams shut in less than a week, and as things stand, Tottenham Hotspur have not done enough business.

The only player Ange Postecoglou's side have signed so far is Czech shot-stopper Antonín Kinský, who completed his £12.5m move from Slavia Prague all the way back on January 5th.

What makes this situation worse is that it looks like fierce rivals Arsenal are now looking to do some business of their own, as it was revealed on Wednesday night that they had seen an audacious £60m bid for Aston Villa and England star Ollie Watkins rejected.

However, there might still be cause for optimism on the white side of North London, as recent reports have now linked Spurs with another brilliant Premier League striker who has won comparisons to the Villa ace.

Tottenham target Premier League striker

According to a recent report from Foot Mercato, Tottenham are incredibly interested in Brentford star Yoane Wissa.

In fact, the report goes one step further, revealing that the Lilywhites have now initiated contact with the West Londoners and the player himself over the potential transfer.

A price is not mentioned in the story, but as reports from earlier this month claimed that Nottingham Forest had a £20m offer rejected for the Frenchman, we can only assume the Bees are holding out for something in excess of that.

It could be a complicated and somewhat costly transfer to get over the line for Spurs, but given Wissa's ability and form, it's one worth fighting for, especially as he's been compared to the sublime Watkins.

How Wissa compares to Watkins and why Spurs should sign him

So, before we look at some of the other reasons Spurs should sign Wissa this month, let's examine this comparison to Watkins and where it comess from.

Well, in this instance, it has stemmed from FBref, which compares players in similar positions in the Premier League, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each one, and, in this instance, has concluded that the Englishman is the fourth most similar attacking midfielder or winger to the Cameroonian superstar.

The best way to see how this conclusion has been reached is by looking at the underlying metrics in which the pair rank closely, including, but not limited to, actual and expected non-penalty goals plus assists, progressive carries, shots on target, goal and shot-creating actions, tackles won, successful take-ons and more, all per 90.

On top of sharing quite a significant number of statistical similarities with the Villa ace, the former FC Lorient star also shares his positional versatility, having made 106 appearances at left-wing and 23 on the opposite flank across his career to date.

However, while an undeniable positive, the fact he is so similar to the Arsenal target is not the sole reason why Levy and Co should splash the cash on bringing him to N17 this month.

Another, arguably far more significant reason why the club should sign the Bees ace is his impressive output for a team outside the traditional 'big six'.

For example, in 36 appearances for the West Londoners last season, totalling 2626 minutes, the underrated forward, whom Sky Sports News editor Lyall Thomas dubbed one of "the best strikers in the Premier League," scored 12 goals and provided three assists, which comes to an average of a goal involvement every 2.4 games, or every 175.06 minutes.

This year, he looks set to do even better and has already amassed a haul of 12 goals and two assists in 24 appearances, totalling just 1729 minutes, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.71 games, or every 123.5 minutes.

Ultimately, Spurs need attacking reinforcements this month, and while he might not be the biggest name around, Wissa has more than proven his ability as a top-class Premier League goalscorer.

Therefore, Levy and Co must do what they can to bring him to N17, as he could well be their answer to Watkins should those in red get their man.

Forget Scarlett: Spurs' 8/10 sensation showed he could save Levy millions

Well, that was just what Tottenham Hotspur needed.

After Sunday's dreadful defeat to Leicester City in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou's side had to pick up all three points in their home Europa League clash with Elfsborg last night, which is just what they did.

Now, genuine chances were few and far between for the Lilywhites in the first half, but the team stuck to their plan and eventually ran out 3-0 winners.

The victory, on top of news about an offer for Bayern Munich's sensational Mathys Tel being accepted yesterday, has really lifted the mood around the club.

That said, while youngster Dane Scarlett has understandably grabbed the headlines for his impact off the bench, another standout performer showed why he could save Daniel Levy and Co from spending millions on the Frenchman.

Dane Scarlett's game vs Elfsborg

So, while the mood after the game was an understandably positive one, and the win was fully deserved, it would be fair to say that for the entirety of the first half and much of the second, it felt like Spurs were never going to score.

However, in the 66th minute, Postecoglou was forced into a substitute when Radu Dragusin went off injured - yes, another one - and opted to bring on the recently returned Scarlett. What a decision that was.

Just four minutes after stepping onto the pitch, the 20-year-old forward found himself perfectly positioned between two defenders in the opposition's penalty area, jumped to meet a pinpoint accurate cross from Dejan Kulusevski and headed the hosts in front.

He wasn't done there, though, as 14 minutes later he was involved in a lovely passing move that saw him provide fellow academy graduate Oyindamola Ajayi with the assist for his first senior goal to take the game out of sight for the visitors.

The Hillingdon-born poacher left quite an impression on Spurs writer Alasdair Gold, who awarded him a 9/10 match rating at full-time and wrote that the academy graduate was 'terrific' during his time on the pitch.

However, while Scarlett was certainly superb, there was another youngster who shone on the night, a youngster who played the full 90 and might have put in a performance good enough to tempt Levy into not splashing the cash on Tel this month: Mikey Moore.

Mikey Moore's game vs Elfsborg

Yes, the player in question is, of course, none other than academy star Moore.

The 17-year-old prodigy started the game out on the wing and looked entirely at home in senior football, so much so that he was undoubtedly one of the Lilywhites' best players.

The "outrageous" talent, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, was a constant threat throughout the game, making a couple of dangerous dribbles in the first half and then topping off his performance with a sensational run in the final minute of the game that ended in a goal; his first in senior football and the third scored by an academy graduate on the night.

Now, we would argue that this is the wrong conclusion to take from the incredibly exciting attacker's display, but there is a chance the board might reassess their need for a new wide player after watching him boss the game from the word go.

With that said, someone who was very impressed with what he saw was Gold, who gave the teenage dynamo an 8/10 at full-time and praised him for his close control, goal and application.

Unsurprisingly, the Southwark-born gem's statistics from the game more than back up the praise he's since received, as in 94 minutes of football, he produced a combined expected goals and assists figure of 0.32, took three shots on target, took 64 touches, completed three dribbles, played one key pass, won two fouls and, of course, scored the final goal.

Ultimately, for his goal and assist, Scarlett deserves all the praise he's received since full-time, but for his efforts across the 90 minutes, Moore's display was arguably just as impressive.

Tottenham in talks to sign £8.5m "goalscorer" who starred at Spurs stadium

Tottenham Hotspur have now opened talks to sign an £8.5m "goalscorer" who previously starred at Spurs’ stadium.

Tottenham and Ange eye new signing before deadline

Things haven’t been going to plan for Ange Postecoglou and his side on the pitch, with Spurs now in real threat of finding themselves in a relegation battle following the latest loss at home to Leicester City.

Prior to that defeat, Postecoglou admitted that his injury-hit squad could do with bolstering before the deadline: "I have daily communication with Johan in particular and he's trying everything he possibly can to get the help we need. I don't think I'm stating anything other than the obvious and for me to come here and say something else would be disingenuous. This playing group needs help, there's no doubt about that.

"We're sort of playing with fire by not bringing anyone in, but the flip side of that is the club is trying to change that situation."

So far, goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is the only winter window addition in north London, but there have been rumours of another attacker arriving.

Names including Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel and Lyon‘s Rayan Cherki have been mooted as attacking targets, and the club are now in talks for a Premier League forward.

Tottenham open Yoane Wissa talks

As per journalist Santi Aouna, Tottenham have opened discussions to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford, who is seen as a concrete target for Spurs before the deadline.

Within his report for Foot Mercato, Aouna states that Tottenham have approached Brentford over a deal and have also been in contact with Wissa and his representatives to express their interest.

Recently, Bees manager Thomas Frank said: “There’s a lot of rumours. For me, he’s a Brentford player, and in my opinion, Wissa is not for sale.”

Frank also hailed Wissa as a “goalscorer” back in 2023 after a 3-0 win over Fulham. “It’s about enjoying the wins that we get. Great goal by Wissa. It’s not as easy as it looked.

“I think they are super players. Wissa, we knew, has always been a goalscorer. He scored seven goals in the first season and seven in the second in the Premier League, for a player that didn’t play much. It’s remarkable. I definitely think he is best as a 9. He’s got that nose for goals.”

The 28-year-old, who cost just £8.5m back in 2021, has been in impressive form this season, averaging a goal every other game in all competitions.

He has already matched last season’s tally of 12 goals in all competitions in 12 fewer games, so appears to be at the peak of his powers in England and even starred at Tottenham’s stadium back in 2023, scoring and providing an assist in a 3-1 win for Brentford.

It remains to be seen how likely a late January deal is for Wissa, but by the looks of things, it will be one to keep an eye on ahead of the deadline.

Their own Rogers: Spurs hold concrete interest in "unplayable" £60m phenom

It's not been a good season for Tottenham Hotspur this year; that much is undeniable.

Injuries have ravaged Ange Postecoglou's side, but even then, sitting 15th in the Premier League is nothing short of a disaster, and with the transfer window slamming shut in under a week, their only signing has been Czech goalkeeper Antonín Kinský.

However, in positive developments, recent reports have linked the club with one of the most dangerous players in the league, someone who has been compared to the incredible Morgan Rogers.

Signing a player similar to the Aston Villa star might be just what the North Londoners need to reignite their campaign, as he once again showed the world just how brilliant he is with a man-of-the-match performance against Celtic in the Champions League last night.

The player in question might not be the defender Spurs desperately need, but should this move go ahead, we imagine the fans will be delighted.

Tottenham target Premier League star

According to a recent report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are one of several teams with 'concrete interest' in Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

Alongside the Lilywhites, the report has revealed that fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Liverpool are incredibly keen on the Cameroon international, although the Bees are understandably reluctant to entertain the idea of selling him mid-way through the season.

A potential price is not mentioned in the report, but according to other stories from earlier this month, an offer in the region of £60m could be enough to tempt the West Londoners into selling.

It will be an incredibly complicated and costly transfer to get over the line for Spurs, but given Mbeumo's immense ability, it's one well worth pursuing, especially as he could be the club's own Rogers.

How Mbeumo compares to Rogers and why Spurs should sign him

So, before we get into a couple of other reasons as to why Spurs should be pushing the boat out to sign Mbeumo, let's examine this comparison to Rogers and where it has come from.

Well, it primarily stems from FBref, which compares players in similar positions in Europe's top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each one, and, in this instance, has concluded that the Englishman is the fourth most similar attacking midfielder or winger to the Cameroonian superstar.

The best way to see how this conclusion has been reached is by looking at the underlying metrics in which the pair rank closely, including, but not limited to, actual and expected non-penalty goals plus assists, progressive passes and carries, shots, goal-creating-actions and more, all per 90.

However, while sharing a number of significant statistical similarities with a player as monumentally talented as the Villa ace is certainly an encouraging sign and a major indication that Daniel Levy and Co should sign the former Troyes ace, it's not the only reason.

Arguably, the more significant argument for why the North Londoners should go all out for the 25-year-old is his seriously impressive level of output for a team outside of the traditional 'big six.'

For example, in 27 appearances this season, totalling 2227 minutes, the "unplayable" live wire, as dubbed by manager Thomas Frank, has found the back of the net on 14 occasions and provided four assists to boot, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.5 games, or every 123.72 minutes, which is simply brilliant.

Ultimately, Spurs are in desperate need of some game-changing attackers, and while the price tag is high, Mbeumo would undoubtedly be worth every penny.

Big Werner upgrade: Spurs set for talks over sealing "unbelievable" signing

Description

Ange Postecoglou has been the manager of Tottenham Hotspur for a season and a half now, and it would be fair to describe his tenure as mixed.

The Australian has managed to turn his team into one of the most entertaining in all of European football, but that, combined with injuries, has also seen them become rather easy to play against.

On the transfer front, he's welcomed in some brilliant players, like Dominic Solanke, Micky van de Ven and Archie Gray, but he's also signed Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner.

The German winger has not been a success in North London, so it's good news that recent reports have touted an ideal replacement for a move to the club this month.

Tottenham chase incredible talent

According to a recent update from transfers expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in Bayern Munich gem Mathys Tel.

Romano has revealed that, alongside the Lilywhites, Manchester United and seven other unnamed teams have made contact over signing the player on a loan deal for the rest of the season with talks set to open soon.

However, according to the Italian journalist, the player is after assurances over game time, which, with Solanke out injured, could be something Postecoglou could give him.

Moreover, reports from earlier this week revealed that the German giants would be willing to accept the offer of around £40m to sell the youngster permanently, should Spurs decide that the best course of action.

In all, while there is a lot of interest in Tel, the North Londoners should do what they can to bring him to N17, as even on loan, he'd be the perfect replacement for Werner.

How Tel compares to Werner

So, if Spurs can convince the 19-year-old that he should join them for the rest of the season or more, then that would mean he'd be coming to the club under the promise of regular football.

Therefore, he'd surpass Werner in the pecking order, and based on comparisons between the pair, we think that would be entirely correct.

For example, when you compare the Frenchman's form from last season, when he was actually playing, to the German's from this same campaign, the difference is night and day.

For his part, the "unbelievable" prospect, as dubbed by reporter Florian Plettenberg, scored ten goals and provided six assists in 41 appearances, totalling 1406 minutes, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 2.56 games, or every 87.87 minutes.

In contrast, the former Chelsea ace scored four goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances, totalling 1295 minutes, which is an average of a goal involvement every 3.5 games, or every 161.87 minutes.

Unfortunately for the Stuttgart-born star, the comparison is even more one-sided when we take a look under the hood at their underlying numbers from the start of last season to today.

For example, the Sarcelles-born dynamo comes out on top in the majority of forward-relevant metrics, including, but not limited to, actual non-penalty goals plus assists, shots and shots on target, goals per shot and shot on target, successful take-ons, shot and goal-creating actions and more, all per 90.

Ultimately, Tel is the far superior player in every meaningful way and significantly younger as well.

Therefore, Spurs should be doing all they can to bring him to North London this month, and maybe on more than a loan deal.
