Spurs hit gold on "astounding" teen who's worth way more than Mikey Moore

Following the conclusion of the Euros and Copa América over the weekend, the transfer window is in full swing, and while things have been unusually quiet thus far, Tottenham Hotspur have already made their first major signing.

Daniel Levy and Co welcomed in the young Archie Gray from Leeds United a couple of weeks ago, and in his first friendly for the club last night, he impressed.

He started in defence as Ange Postecoglou's side ran out 5-1 winners against Scottish side Hearts, and while the former Peacocks gem did brilliantly, academy star Mikey Moore stole the show.

The young attacker is tipped to have a massive future ahead of him, but as things stand, another emerging talent at the club is worth even more.

Mikey Moore's valuation

Now, as Moore is only 16 years old, his first-team debut only came at the end of last season, and to date, he has a whopping 3 minutes of experience under his belt.

However, the fact that he was even given a chance to play at his age is a testament to his potential and incredible record at youth level.

For example, in just 24 appearances for the Lilywhites U18 side, the "outstanding" prospect, as talent scout Jacek Kulig has dubbed him, has scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists, meaning he has averaged a goal involvement every 0.75 games - outrageous.

He's been just as effective for the junior national sides as well, as in 12 appearances for the U17s, he's scored ten goals and provided four assists, proving that he can perform regardless of the team he's in.

This rapid rise from an unknown youth product to the next big thing in N17 has understandably impacted his valuation, and according to Football Transfers, he is now worth about €5m, which converts to around £4m.

It's undoubtedly an impressive fee for a youngster with essentially no first-team experience, but another up-and-coming youngster in the Spurs squad is worth even more.

Lucas Bergvall's valuation

The player in question is Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall, who joined Spurs for about £8.5m this year, and we're sure his price tag is a lot higher now.

The "astounding" 18-year-old talent, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, enjoyed a positive season with Djurgarden in his homeland last year, in which he made 19 first-team appearances, scoring six goals and providing five assists, equating to an impressive average of a goal involvement every 1.72 games.

Described as having "decision-making to a supreme level" by Mango, the young Swede was heavily linked to La Liga giants Barcelona before opting to join the Lilywhites, and there is genuine hope in Sweden that he could be their next global superstar.

A clear indication of just how highly thought of he is in the Scandinavian country is the fact that, despite being just 17 at the time, he made his senior debut for the national team against Estonia in January this year.

Ultimately, both Moore and Bergvall look destined for enormously successful careers with Spurs, but given his experience, it's easy to see why the Swede cost £8.5m, although that fee may look like a bargain very soon.

Tottenham could make a "surprise" bid for one £84 million striker, following manager Ange Postecoglou's warning to Daniel Levy and Johan Lange.

Spurs targeting new attacker after Gray and Werner deals

The Lilywhites have moved to seal a season-long loan extension on Timo Werner's deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and one which includes a new £8.5 million option to buy.

The German bagged two goals and three assists in the Premier League during the second-half of 2023/2024, helping Spurs qualify for the Europa League, and this has seemingly done enough to convince club chiefs that he's worth keeping around.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites thereafter sealed a £40 million deal for one of England's brightest young talents in Archie Gray. The former Leeds United gem swapped Elland Road for N17 with Joe Rodon heading the other way, and Gray made his debut on Wednesday evening in Tottenham's 5-1 pre-season friendly win at Hearts.

Gray and Werner are by no means Spurs' only bits of summer business, though, as it is believed a few more players could depart north London before summer deadline day on August 30.

Tottenham are also in the market for at least one new attacker, with many interesting names linked. This potential new arrival could be in the form of a new winger or striker, as the likes of Pedro Neto, Eberechi Eze and others attract interest from Spurs.

"There is appreciation from Spurs for Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace - and also with all of the other options we always mention here like Pedro Neto, this is absolutely confirmed," said Fabrizio Romano recently.

"So Tottenham like Eze and like Pedro Neto, and they have decided how much they want to spend in that position. So there is internal conversation, but they will bring in one more player in that position for sure - one more offensive player."

Postecoglou is also believed to be keen on replacing Harry Kane, nearly a year after he joined Bayern Munich in a multi-million pound deal.

Tottenham could make surprise bid for Viktor Gyokeres

Spurs have been linked with the likes of Brentford star Ivan Toney and Lille striker Jonathan David, with both expected to move on for cut-price fees considering they're in the final years of their contracts.

One striker thought to be well out of their price range is Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, who is commanding a release clause of around £84 million.

However, according to GiveMeSport this week, Tottenham could now make a "surprise" move for Gyokeres, with the report claiming he could leave for less than his exit clause.

Imagine him & Son: Spurs could sign £84m striker who's like Watkins

Description

After a debut campaign full of ups and downs, Ange Postecoglou will be under more pressure to deliver with Tottenham Hotspur next season, whether that be through qualification for the Champions League or winning a domestic trophy.

However, while the buck will ultimately stop with the Australian, he needs Daniel Levy and Co to do their jobs this summer and bring in the right players to help him move the team forward, and that includes signing a new striker.

Fortunately, that looks like it may happen, as the latest player touted for a move to N17 has been in fine form in recent seasons, has been compared to England's OIlie Watkins and would be unreal alongside Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from journalist Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are still looking for attacking reinforcements this summer and remain interested in RB Leipzig's star striker Loïs Openda.

While a player as talented as the Belgian will surely attract interest from all over the continent, the most significant barrier to Spurs securing his services in the coming weeks is the price.

According to reports out of Germany back in April, the former RC Lens star has a €80m - £67m - release clause set to activate next summer, but if clubs wish to sign him this year, they'll have to stump up €100m, which converts to around £84m.

It would be a record-breaking fee for the Lilywhites, but given his impressive form and even his comparisons to Watkins, it's potentially worth paying to land such an exciting striker.

How Openda compares to Watkins and why he'd be unreal alongside Son

So, before getting onto the key reason OPenda would be such a great teammate for Son, let's take a look at this comparison to Watkins, which stems from FBref's comparison of strikers across Europe's top five leagues.

They have ranked the Englishman as the number one most comparable striker in those competitions, and this can be seen best in how closely they rank for several underlying metrics, such as expected assists, progressive, key and live passes, shot-creating actions and successful take-ons, all per 90.

To rank so closely with the Premier League's fourth top goalscorer last season is definitely a positive indication of the 24-year-old's quality, but the main reason he'd be so good alongside the Lilywhites captain stems from another set of statistics: his output.

In 48 appearances last season, the goalscoring "dream", as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, put the ball in the back of the net 28 times and provided seven assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.28 games for Leipzig.

Now imagine a striker who is that prolific and creative alongside a club captain who scored 17 goals and provided ten assists in just 36 appearances last season - unreal.

You can already see the former Bayer Leverkusen ace reaching the levels he did when he last had a dangerous striker alongside him in Harry Kane, and while nobody can truly replace the Englishman at present, the Belgian could get pretty close.

Ultimately, it would require a record-breaking transfer, but if Spurs want to push up the Premier League table next season, signing a striker like Openda to play with Son is undoubtedly the best place to start.

Kulusevski upgrade: Spurs chasing £25m signing who's like Son

It's been over a month since the transfer window swung open in mid-June, and since then, Tottenham Hotspur have been relatively quiet, bar their £30m signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United.

However, while the Lilywhites have refrained from bringing anyone else into the club as of yet, they have been linked with a host of players, including England's Eberechi Eze and Canada's Jonathan David.

That said, they could soon welcome in their second signing of the summer, as recent reports have linked them to an incredibly talented winger who has won comparisons to Son Heung-min. However, this potential transfer could spell trouble for Dejan Kulusevski.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Italy, Tottenham are one of several sides interested in signing Juventus' Italian winger Federico Chiesa this summer.

The report claims that the Lilywhites have already contacted the Turin-based outfit about the Italian's future but may have to compete with Manchester United and Roma for his signature.

While the interest from the Red Devils and the Giallorossi is far from ideal, the good news is that the report has claimed the former Fiorentina star is valued at just under €30m, which converts to around £25m.

It could be a complicated transfer to get over the line, but given Chiesa's reasonable price, comparisons to Son and his potential to replace Kulusevski, one Daniel Levy and Co should be pursuing.

How Chiesa compares to Son and Kulusevski

So, before we see how Chiesa's recent record stacks up to Kulusevski's, let's first look at this comparison to club captain Son.

It originates from FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues before then creating a top ten list of the most comparable players for each one, and in the case of the Italian, they have ranked the Lilywhites ace as the seventh most similar forward.

This comparison is best seen through a number of their most similar underlying numbers, such as, shots on target, key passes, passes into the penalty area, interceptions, successful take-ons, carries and ball recoveries, all per 90.

A ball recovery is defined by the number of loose balls recovered by a player.

So, now that his similarities to the South Korean superstar have been cleared up, how does the Juve ace stack up against the player he could replace in North London?

Well, when it comes to the most critical aspect of a modern-day winger, their output, it's the Genova-born star who comes out on top.

In 37 appearances for the Old Lady last season, the "unstoppable" wideman, as former teammate Giorgio Chiellini dubbed him, scored ten goals and provided three assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 2.86 games.

In contrast, the Lilywhites Swedish star scored eight goals and provided three assists in 39 appearances last season, equating to a slightly less impressive average of a goal involvement every 3.54 games.

Moreover, it was the same story the season prior, as while both wingers produced ten goal involvements, the Swede did so in 37 games, while his potential replacement did it in just 33 appearances.

Ultimately, Kulusevski is a talented player and an excellent winger to have in the squad, but based on the last two seasons, it appears that Chiesa would be an upgrade, at least from an attacking perspective anyway. The fact that he's available for a reasonable price and has won comparisons to Son is just the icing on the cake.

Tottenham consider Palace hijack with approach made for £11 million forward

Tottenham are considering a hijack on Crystal Palace as they make an approach to sign one £11 million forward wanted by the Eagles.

Postecoglou calls for drastic change as Spurs work to back him

So far, Spurs have agreed to two major signings in the form of a loan extension for winger Timo Werner and a £40 million deal to sign English sensation Archie Gray from Leeds United.

The north Londoners have also shipped plenty of deadwood, with Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga leaving upon the expiry of their Tottenham contracts. Joe Rodon joined Leeds in a £10 million permanent deal as well, helping to sweeten the deal for Gray, with Tottenham also agreeing to terminate Tanguy Ndombele's contract as the former club-record signing joins OGC Nice on a free transfer.

Tottenham are expected to make another attacking signing after Werner too, as the likes of Wolves winger Pedro Neto, Palace star Eberechi Eze and others become linked with N17 moves.

Club chairman Daniel Levy is ready to back Postecoglou in the coming weeks, according to various reports, and it is believed Spurs are even willing to pay the entirety of Eze's £60 million release clause in their pursuit of a new forward.

"We need change. Change has to happen," said Postecoglou on Spurs' summer transfer business.

"You can’t want to alter your course and expect the same people are going to be on that. It’s just not going to happen. We’ve had two windows and we’ve had some development of players, for sure, but when I say we’ve still got a long way to go, that’s what I’m talking about. It’s impossible to say you’re going to have drastic change and yet expect everyone to be on that journey.

"It’s not for the want of trying. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, we’re going to train a certain way and we’re going to have a certain mindset. And that’s not for everyone."

Another interesting player they've been linked with is former academy gem Marcus Edwards, and they could get him on the cheap. Portuguese newspaper Corriere de Manha recently claimed that Sporting value the winger at around £17 million, but Spurs' 35 per cent sell-on clause means that figure would come down to just £11 million if Postecoglou's side bid.

Tottenham consider hijacking Palace bid for Edwards

Football Insider have another update on the matter, and they claim Palace are readying their own bid for the 25-year-old.

However, Levy is still in the background, with FI writing that Tottenham could rival Palace in the race to sign Edwards and hijack Oliver Glasner's side - similarly to how they prised Gray from Brentford's clutches earlier this summer. Spurs have also made an approach by asking to be kept informed about the situation.

Spurs struck gold on "incredible" star who's worth more than Watkins & Eze

And just like that, the European Championships come to a swift and bitter close, if you're an English fan, that is.

The Three Lions managed to bundle themselves into the final on Sunday night thanks to moments of individual magic from the likes of Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and Ollie Watkins, but when it came down to stopping the most in form team in Europe, they had no answers.

The only good news is that, with international football wrapped up for now, the return of the Premier League is less than a month away, and clubs can really focus on their transfer business, and Tottenham Hotspur are no different.

The Lilywhites have already signed youngster Archie Gray from Leeds United, but they have been linked with a whole host of other exciting players, including Watkins' international teammate Eberechi Eze, although the Lilywhites shouldn't forget that they already have someone in that position within the team, and he's worth even more than both.

The valuations of Watkins and Eze in 2024

So, while it looked like he might never get a game in the tournament at one point, Watkins became the star of the show against the Netherlands in the semi-final as his last-minute goal was the one that put England into their second Euros final on the bounce.

He then made a more sizable cameo in the final, but as with the rest of the team, he was underwhelming at best. That said, his moment in Dortmund will remain in the memory of England fans for generations, and alongside an impressive season for Aston Villa, his valuation is starting to reflect his ability.

Following a campaign in which he scored 27 goals and provided 13 assists in 53 games for the Claret and Blue, FOTMOB has valued the Englishman at €70m, which converts to around £59m.

On the other hand, Eze has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs this summer, and following a report from the BBC back in April, it has been largely repeated that he would cost the North Londoners £60m.

It might sound steep, but after a season in which he scored 11 goals and provided six assists in just 31 games, it's probably a fair fee in today's game, although the club already have a star in his primary position, and he's worth even more.

James Maddison's valuation in 2024

Yes, the player in question is fellow Englishman James Maddison, who might not have made it onto the plane to Germany this summer but remains an incredible midfielder.

In fact, according to FOTMOB, the "incredible" dynamo, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, is worth more than Eze and Watkins, coming in with a valuation of €75m, which converts to around £63m, or £3m more than the Palace star and £4m more than the Villa ace.

That may sound like a lot, but over the last three seasons, he has scored 32 goals and provided 30 assists in just 115 appearances, which equates to a goal involvement every 1.85 games, which is massively impressive over such a period.

He may have struggled towards the latter half of last season, but in his defence, he was coming back from injury and aside from maybe one or two players, it would be hard to pick out anyone at Spurs who played well towards the end of 2023/24.

Spurs could sign their answer to Dani Olmo in "exceptional" £25m talent

It's been just over a month since the transfer window opened at Euro 2024 kicked off, but with the latter now over, we can expect to see more movement in the coming weeks.

Tottenham Hotspur have already made a splash in the market this summer when they spent £30m on Leeds United wonderkid Archie Gray, but a more established star they have been linked to is Spanish international Dani Olmo.

The Spaniard enjoyed a spectacular Euros, and as such, the Lilywhites might now find it harder to convince him to move to N17.

However, that may not be an issue, as based on recent reports, Daniel Levy and Co appear to have identified another exciting attacker who could be their answer to the RB Leipzig ace.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Caught Offside, Tottenham are interested in Fenerbahçe star Sebastian Szymanski this summer.

The report has revealed that the Lilywhites have already sent scouts to watch him play for the Turkish giants, and while they do not want to sell him, a fee in the region of €30m, which is about £25m, would be enough.

It would still be a sizable investment in a player with no experience in a top-five league, but based on his recent performances and his potential, £25m could look like a bargain - especially if signing him negates the need for Olmo.

How Szymanski compares to Olmo

Now, the primary reason that Spurs may see the signing of Szymanski as a reason to call off any interest in Olmo is that, like the Polish international, the Spaniard can play on the left or right and in attacking midfield.

In fact, throughout his career, he has started 131 games in attacking midfield, 43 on the left and 42 off the right. Similarly, the Fenerbahçe star has started 162 games in attacking midfield, 46 between right wing and midfield and 28 between left wing and midfield.

So, if they're able to occupy similar spaces on the pitch, who has been more productive?

Well, last season, the Leipzig star scored eight goals and provided five assists in just 25 games, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.92 games.

In contrast, the "exceptional" 25-year-old, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, scored 13 goals and provided 19 assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.71 games.

It's not just the attacking output that could make the Sarı Kanaryalar star a more attractive prospect, either.

Across his entire career to date, he has missed just 15 games through injury, whereas the Spaniard has missed a whopping 68 games to date.

Ultimately, Olmo would be an incredible signing for Spurs, but with his injury record hanging over him, their similar levels of output and wildly different prices, picking up Szymanski may be the better option.

Therefore, if Levy and Co have the opportunity to secure his services this summer, they must seize it.

England star now wants to join Tottenham with Levy ready to meet £60m price

Tottenham have been handed a boost as it has emerged that one of their transfer targets is keen on a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer ahead of rival interest, according to a fresh report.

Spurs keen to kick on

After a promising first Premier League campaign under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are keen to continue their upward trajectory and return to the Champions League places next season. To do that, they have re-signed Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig and have also signed Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray in a deal worth £30m.

Now attention is set to turn to their frontline, with reports claiming that they are one of the sides interested in Rennes forward Desire Doue, while they have also been credited with an interest in Wolves attacker Pedro Neto to bolster the wide areas. But their chief target may have just given them some much-needed good news on the transfer front.

England star favours Tottenham move

That comes as it has been claimed that Eberechi Eze would be keen to move to Tottenham this summer, preferring a move to Postecoglou's side over other interested parties ahead of the new season.

It had previously been reported that Daniel Levy is willing to match Eze's £60m release clause, along with Manchester City. Now, it has been claimed that Eze would prefer to be playing for Tottenham next season than rivals Arsenal, and is "keen on joining" Ange in north London. That is because, according to Football Transfers, "Eze is keen on regular minutes and he has doubts whether he would play frequently in Arteta's side".

Though not said explicitly, the same is likely to be true of Manchester City, who can already call upon Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden in wide areas. Indeed, Eze managed just 99 minutes with England at EURO 2024 thanks to the presence of Foden in particular, who Southgate stationed on the left flank.

The winger still has three years left to run on his £100,000 a week deal in south London, and it is added that Palace "are preparing to make a strong effort to convince the attacker to stay at the club" with Michael Olise having already left for Bayern Munich this summer and Eze's fellow England star Marc Guehi subject of strong interest from around the Premier League.

Spurs make contact for "unstoppable" £180k-p/w forward Conte wanted to sign

Tottenham have reportedly made contact to sign a player wanted by Antonio Conte during his time in north London in a move that could finally come to fruition under Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs hunting additions

The lowest scorers in the Premier League's top seven sides last season, Spurs are on the looking for reinforcements to bolster Ange Postecoglou's ranks ahead of the new campaign.

They have already added two players, with Timo Werner re-joining the club on another loan from RB Leipzig after a successful six months in north London and Archie Gray arriving in a deal worth £30m from Leeds United.

But the Lilywhites are still keen to strengthen in attack before the new campaign kicks off, with the club back in the Europa League for the first time since the 2020/21 season.

Postecoglou himself admitted that his frontline was an area requiring reinforcement earlier in pre-season: "You saw the way we finished the season. We obviously lost Richy and Timo as well with injuries but we're fairly light in that area.

"We started last season with Manor [Solomon] and [Ivan] Perisic and we were quite healthy in that front third in terms of numbers, but as the year went on it became pretty evident that we need to bulk up. We're in Europe as well next year so we'll have more games and it's definitely an area of the park we'll need to strengthen."

Tottenham try for Conte target

Reports in Italy now claim that Spurs have made contact to try and sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer. The Italian was one of the most highly-rated players in Europe but suffered a cruciate ligament tear in 2022 which he has struggled to recover from.

At the end of 2023, he was singled out for praise by former teammate and Azzurri icon Giorgio Chiellini, who labelled him "unstoppable" in a 1v1 situation.

"He's not the type of player that links the team, like a number 10, not a player that likes to have the ball and connect passes with team-mates, but one against one, he's unstoppable.

"We have to use that in the space, one against one, starting from the edge and trying to shoot or cross into good positions.

"That's the player that Chiesa is and that makes the difference. He would be good for Bayern, he would be good for Juventus and also many other teams all over Europe because these skills are unique and he's very good at that.

"He's maybe not able to do other things but in those skills, he's very, very, very good."

Conte was keen to sign the Italian back in 2022 but was priced out of a move for his services, but now Juventus are willing to let him leave cheaply.

Chiesa, who found the net 10 times last season for the Turin side, is entering the final 12 months of his £180,000 a week deal with the Old Lady. As a result, Juve are willing to let him leave for around 25m euros (£21m) according to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, with Tottenham having "made contact" over a potential move for the winger.

Roma and Chelsea are also both credited with an interest, but Chiesa has put the Italian side on hold as he eyes up a move to the Premier League, the report continues, with Chiesa keen to leave Italy.

Chelsea and Todd Boehly most advanced to sign "fantastic" £50m+ ace

Chelsea are now reportedly most advanced in the race to land a future star worth £52m alongside London rivals Tottenham Hotspur this summer, as they look to add their seventh incoming of the transfer window.

Chelsea transfer news

After yet another campaign to forget last time out, it's no surprise that Chelsea and Todd Boehly have enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, welcoming six fresh faces so far and a new head coach in Enzo Maresca. The former Leicester City manager most recently welcomed Renato Veiga from Basel with the 20-year-old among those looking to make an instant impression on the new boss.

Giving Chelsea fans a hint of what they can expect, Veiga told the club's official website after putting pen to paper: "I’m a smart, aggressive player.

"I’m comfortable on the ball and I would describe myself as a complete player due to my versatility. I’m comfortable in many positions on the pitch. I wouldn’t say I have a favourite position because it depends on the opponent or tactical elements, but I have played at left-back, centre-back and as a defensive midfielder."

He might not be the only young player that excites those at Stamford Bridge, either. According to L'Equipe, Chelsea are now most advanced in the race to sign Desire Doue alongside Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. Stade Rennais reportedly value their 19-year-old winger at €60m (£52m) and have already rejected a €35m (£30m) offer from Bayern Munich.

After missing out on Michael Olise, Doue represents an ideal option for the Blues to turn to this summer. The teenager has attracted interest around Europe for good reason and if Chelsea want to continue their trend of signing the next generation of stars, then the Ligue 1 winger certainly makes sense.

"Fantastic" Doue could be a Mudryk upgrade

Over a year on from his arrival, Mykhailo Mudryk is yet to make an impact in a Chelsea shirt, struggling under both Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino. Now, if Doue arrives, the Ukraine international could find himself out of Maresca's starting side altogether with places up for grabs for those who impress the Italian this summer. Based on his development so far too, Doue certainly has the talent to take Mudryk's spot.

Whilst Doue's output shows room for improvement, his take-on success at just 19 years of age highlights a player who lacks no confidence driving forward in something that Chelsea may need to add to their attacking options.

The young winger has earned plenty of praise, including from Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig who dubbed the teenager "fantastic" on X.

Now, it's Chelsea who could benefit from that "fantastic mix" as they look to beat Tottenham in the race for yet another future star.
