Their next Kane: Spurs targeting 'one of the best strikers' in the world

What can we say about Harry Kane that hasn't already been said? The man is simply a marvel, even if some of his Euro 2024 displays left a lot to be desired.

Was some of the criticism for the former Spurs man warranted? Yes, yes it was. Was some of it rather harsh? You could argue that point too.

However, there is no doubting what has made him such an elite talent down the years. No player in Tottenham's history has scored more goals for the club than he. No player in England's history - there have been 1282 of them - have scored more than Kane for his country. Yeah, he's a pretty good player.

That said, without him, England and Spurs have managed to get by. It was Ollie Watkins' remarkable last-gasp strike against the Netherlands without Kane on the pitch that sent Gareth Southgate's men to the final of the European Championships.

Heung-min Son, with his haul of 17 goals in 31 league outings last season proved they didn't miss him too much during Ange Postecoglou's first campaign in charge.

That said, with Kane in tow, perhaps a Champions League berth would have been secured ahead of Aston Villa.

So, a new striker would certainly go down a treat this summer.

Spurs in the race to sign new goal machine

Tottenham have been one of the more active clubs in the Premier League over the last few weeks, notably welcoming Archie Gray to the club from Leeds.

But what is next on the club's agenda? Well, they're allegedly looking at a striker currently plying his trade in Ligue 1.

Indeed, according to Football Insider this weekend, Spurs have joined the race to sign Lille centre forward Jonathan David.

It's stated that if they were to bid a bargain £25m in an attempt to secure the Canadian's signature, it would be accepted.

Why is he so cheap? Well, as the report states, David is now entering the final year of his contract in France.

Postecoglou is said to be 'obsessed' with acquiring a new number 9 and the Canada international could well be his man.

Why David would be a good signing for Spurs

Described as "one of the best strikers in the world" by Canadian podcast host Tony Marinaro, that tells you all you need to know. Great, we can wrap this article up now, surely? Well, that would all be a little bit boring. Let's provide you with more insight.

As we said, Spurs didn't exactly struggle per se without Kane, but their options were limited. Son - who was given the captaincy - was often preferred in a central striking berth but that ultimately meant that Postecoglou's options on the flanks were not always too convincing.

Brennan Johnson did end the campaign well, registering three assists in his last four games but with five goals to his name across the entire campaign he wasn't bagging on a regular basis.

The same could be said for Timo Werner who only found the net on two occasions in 14 appearances. As for Dejan Kulusevski, he scored eight times. Decent but certainly not awe-inspiring.

So, by signing David, Ange could move Son into a menacing position out wide and add more goals to the squad.

Besides Kane, Spurs have struggled to find a striker who can score regularly. That's hardly a surprise considering the lack of game time they have had but it's not as though they've even had a strong rotation option.

Richarlison - who did bag 12 last season - only scored three in his debut term, Carlos Vinicius scored just one league goal in 2020/21 and in 2018/19, Fernando Llorente fired home eight goals.

Now, let's compare that to the tallies of David.

So, while the Lille sensation certainly isn't in the same bracket as Kane, who scored a jaw-dropping 44 times for Bayern last term, he is a great deal more prolific than any of the other centre-forwards Spurs have had at their disposal over the last six years or so.

If they could secure a deal for the £25m fee mooted, it would be phenomenal business, potentially handing Postecoglou his best striker yet.

Tottenham have completed some impressive business in the transfer market over the last seven months or so.

Ange Postecoglou is here for the long run and that can be seen in the deals they've completed. Lucas Bergvall is now officially a Spurs player and the exciting Archie Gray has recently arrived too.

Troy Parrott, one of the club's academy poster boys, may have left for Dutch shores but with another hot talent in Mikey Moore coming through the ranks, they won't care too much about the Irishman's £6.7m departure.

Will Postecoglou stop in his quest to bring top young talent to north London? Apparently not.

Tottenham looking at elite young winger

There is a young talent who is consistently being talked about as an option in the transfer window for the top clubs in Europe.

That happens to be French superstar Desire Doue, a teenager who is causing a great deal of fuss this summer.

Set to take part in the Paris Olympics under the guidance of the great Thierry Henry, Doue has become an option for a number of sides.

Indeed, according to a report from French outlet L'Equipe, Bayern Munich have lodged a €35m (£30m) bid for the Rennes attacker but it has been rejected.

The German outfit are believed to be not the only club interested. It's suggested that Tottenham and Chelsea are also planning their own offensive in the forthcoming weeks.

Previous reports have indicated it could well take around €60m (£52m) to prise him away from his homeland.

What makes Doue so exciting

Now 19, Doue lit up Ligue 1 as a spritely 18-year-old last season, wreaking havoc in the final third on his way to four goals and five assists in league action. Those aren't jaw-dropping numbers but come on, this is a teenager doing things a mature experienced head would be doing.

So, he can score and assist goals, but what else can he do? Said to be a "one-of-a-kind player" by analyst Ben Mattinson, this is a young individual with the world at his feet, someone who has "one of the most unique profiles out there."

Right-footed, Doue is capable of playing off either wing, namely the left and also as a number 10, galivanting forward and picking up tight pockets of space which he seems to escape from every time.

So, what comparisons can be made? Well, FBRef suggests that the most similar player in Europe's top five leagues to the French sensation is 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, a young talent who has taken Euro 2024 by storm.

Who else could he be compared to? Well, the aforementioned analyst - Mattinson - suggests "Doue’s ceiling is more of as a goal-scoring #10 to play in between the lines like Foden who can also play wide."

Also said to be in the same bracket of talent as someone like Bellingham and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, it's evident Tottenham would have a very special player on their hands here.

He could operate in the half spaces very well, linking up with the likes of James Maddison and Heung-min Son to devastating effect.

Like Bellingham, he can play in a deeper playmaking role, like Saka, he can cut inside with purpose and like Foden, he can weave beyond defenders in central areas behind the striker.

Also said to be "elite at shifting the ball" by Mattinson, there is seemingly nothing Doue cannot do in the final third. So, let's examine the numbers.

A carry is considered progressive if the ball is moved towards the opponent's goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or is carried into the penalty area.

Evidently boasting remarkable numbers when it comes to carrying the ball and possessing that magical ability to make something happen out of nothing, it's clear to see why he's earned comparisons to the likes of Foden and Bellingham.

This is a world-class talent in the making and he could well be heading to Spurs. Just imagine him alongside the likes of Gray and Bergvall. It's enough to make your mouth water.

Romano: Arsenal could move for "Raya 2.0" who was tempted to join Tottenham

Still looking to get their summer business underway, Arsenal could now reportedly sign a new backup for David Raya who was recently tempted to join rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal transfer news

Highlighting just how far they've come in the last two seasons, Arsenal are in no position to panic about their lack of business so far this summer. The Gunners have been Manchester City's closest challengers to the Premier League title in the last two campaigns and have built a squad that is becoming increasingly difficult to improve.

That said, the Gunners have still been linked to a number of names, with Riccardo Calafiori the most prominent name currently stealing the headlines. The Italian was a standout in an otherwise underwhelming Euro 2024 tournament for Italy as they crashed out at the last 16 stage. Following an impressive Serie A campaign with Bologna, who caused a major upset by qualifying for the Champions League, Calafiori could now get Arsenal's summer business off to a flying start.

Away from the defender, meanwhile, the North London club could reportedly sign a new backup for Raya this summer, with Aaron Ramsdale's future still in doubt in search of a starting place elsewhere.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal could now make a move for Joan Garcia from Espanyol this summer, with the 'keeper valued at up to £21m. They could also get one over on North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, given that the shot-stopper was reportedly tempted to join the Lilywhites just last month.

What's more, Romano revealed that Arsenal goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana appreciates Garcia, telling GiveMeSport: “Arsenal could consider the possibility to bring in Bentley or maybe another option, like Joan Garcia, who is really appreciated by Inaki Cana, their goalkeeping coach.

"He already wanted to bring David Raya to the club, which was a very successful move, so they could also follow him once again when it's time to decide who is the player they want.”

Garcia can prove Cana right

It's a positive sign that Arsenal coach Cana appreciates Garcia as the Gunners look to replace Ramsdale and find a new number two for Raya. The goalkeeper coach already proved his worth by backing Raya and could now be proved right once again by Garcia, who is more than capable of replacing Ramsdale.

Described as "Raya 2.0" by Ben Mattinson, Garcia's save percentage instantly stands out against Ramsdale and perhaps highlights the direction that Mikel Arteta wants to head towards when it comes to his goalkeeping departure.

As the summer transfer window goes on, the domino effect that could take place at Arsenal regarding their shot-stoppers will certainly be one to watch.

Ange must finally cash in on Spurs man who earns over 5x more than Doue

After a Premier League season that saw them go unbeaten for the first ten games, only to miss out on Champions League football at the end, it has to be a big summer of transfer activity for Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou has proven that he's got the ability to be a success in England's top flight, and now Daniel Levy needs to dig into his pockets to give him the proper backing to succeed in North London.

However, while bringing in the right players is crucial, so is getting rid of those no longer good enough.

One player, who arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with huge potential, has failed to deliver, with Ange needing to offload him given his hefty wages.

Sergio Reguilon’s Tottenham Hotspur career

At the time, signing left-back Sergio Reguilon for £32m seemed like incredible business by the club, acquiring a talent who could nail down the full-back role for many years to come in north London.

Before his move to Spurs, the Spaniard was named La Liga's best left-back in 2019/20 while on loan with Sevilla, winning the Europa League - but the Lilywhites faithful have failed to see the best of the defender.

After two years in north London, Reguilon completed a loan move back to his homeland and joined Atlético Madrid, in an unsuccessful stint that provided him with a series of injuries and just two starts in La Liga.

He’s since had various loan stints at fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Brentford, but once again failed to impress with neither side signing the 27-year-old on a permanent basis.

Reguilon has only featured 67 times for Spurs since his big-money transfer, with the club investing in fellow left-back Destiny Udogie to fill the void which the Spaniard failed to claim after his move from the Spanish giants.

Having signed a five-year contract in 2020, Reguilon is out of contract in 2025, and it's highly unlikely that his deal will be renewed, with this summer the last opportunity to recoup some of the £32m the club splashed on him four years ago.

How much Sergio Reguilon earns at Tottenham Hotspur

Whilst he’s not the highest earner in the Spurs squad, the Spaniard still earns a huge chunk, especially considering he’s not featured for the club in two seasons.

According to Capology, the 27-year-old earns £53k-per-week in north London, pocketing a huge £2.7m in wages every season.

As a result, Reguilon has taken home a staggering £5.4m since he last pulled on the shirt of Tottenham Hotspur, with the club being bled dry by the one-time promising talent.

His subsequent weekly wage is over five times higher than that of current transfer target Desire Doue, who only earns £8k-per-week, despite Spurs’ £60m interest in the 19-year-old wonderkid.

Postecoglou’s side aren’t the only side interested in the French youngster, with Bayern Munich and PSG also said to be interested in his services this summer.

If they are to be able to fund a move for Doue, the sale of Reguilon - who has been touted with a new £10m price tag - would massively boost their chances of landing the in-demand superstar.

It’s been a disastrous move for both parties, with Spurs needing to offload him to enable them to be competitive in the market, whilst Reguilon will be desperate for a transfer to kickstart his career after a stuttering stint in north London.

Spurs battling to sign £45m star who's the perfect Gallagher alternative

After a campaign full of promise and disappointment, it's set to be an incredibly important summer for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to bring in the right players to support Ange Postecoglou's plan to lead the club to the top of the Premier League.

Following an impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign, Spurs sat top of the league at one stage, but ended up finishing the season in fifth position, 25 points off eventual champions, Manchester City.

More additions need to be made to close the gap to Pep Guardiola’s side, especially if the club are to have any chance of fulfilling Postecoglou’s dream of winning the title with the north London outfit.

Archie Gray has already arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a deal worth up to £40m, but it appears Daniel Levy and Co aren't stopping there, with more names being touted for a move to the Lilywhites.

One player in particular has been strongly linked in recent days, potentially becoming a key player in Spurs’ midfield transformation.

Tottenham’s transfer news

Pretty much since the conclusion of the previous Premier League campaign, Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign Chelsea central midfielder Conor Gallagher.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign under Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge last season, catching the eye of Postecoglou with his tenacious and relentless nature.

Unsurprisingly, with Gallagher being an English talent featuring in the Premier League, he would cost a pretty penny, with Chelsea holding out for £50m to part ways with their academy star.

However, in recent days, the club have been linked with another midfielder to try and complete the club’s midfield overhaul.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Spurs are interested in a move for 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Serie A outfit Atalanta.

The in-demand talent has made 36 appearances in the league this season, scoring on six occasions, helping the club finish fourth and securing a Champions League spot ahead of next campaign.

His excellent campaign in Italy hasn’t gone unnoticed, with fellow Premier League side Liverpool recently submitting a €45m (£38m) bid for his services whilst also still retaining an interest in bringing him to Anfield.

Why Ederson would be the perfect Gallagher alternative for Spurs

Whilst both stars are undoubtedly very talented and possess numerous talents that would improve Spurs’ midfield, when comparing the two there’s evidence that the Brazilian is a more complete player despite scoring fewer goals in all competitions than the current England international.

When analysing the duo’s stats on FBref, Ederson has showcased his excellent abilities on the ball, completing over six times more progressive passes - a figure that could allow the attacking players at Spurs to thrive further should the Atalanta star join the club.

The midfield “machine” as dubbed by writer Carlo Garganese, has also achieved a 27% higher tackle success rate and won 11% more aerial battles than the Chelsea star, fitting into Postecoglou’s relentless system perfectly.

Whilst they’re set to face huge competition from Liverpool for his signature, Spurs must work tirelessly to pursue a move for Ederson, with the Brazilian having all the quality to thrive in north London.

With Atalanta wanting £45m to part ways with their midfield dynamo, he provides a cheaper alternative to Gallagher, whilst also allowing the Lilywhites to sign a higher quality talent who’s ready-made for England’s top flight.

It may be a hefty sum, but it would allow Postecoglou to finally complete his midfield overhaul at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Hijack as Borussia Dortmund meet asking price to sign "quick" Tottenham ace

German heavyweights and last season's Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund have matched Tottenham's asking price for a "quick" player, and they could now hijack a major club's talks for him.

Players who could still be sold by Spurs this summer

Following the departures of Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Tanguy Ndombele and Joe Rodon, many more Spurs players are expected to be moved on as manager Ange Postecoglou orchestrates an overhaul.

Young striker Troy Parrott is the latest squad member set to wave goodbye to north London, as the Republic of Ireland international jets back to the Netherlands for a medical with AZ Alkmaar ahead of a proposed £6.7 million move.

The 22-year-old impressed in the Eredivisie on loan at Excelsior last season, and it appears he's keen on making the Netherlands a permanent home as he flies across the channel to sign his AZ contract.

After Parrott and the aforementioned crop, Bryan Gil, Djed Spence, Giovani Lo Celso, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Manor Solomon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are other players who could be sold by Tottenham this summer.

Postecoglou has spoke of the need to implement "drastic" change at Spurs this summer and over the coming windows, and it appears the Australian is getting his wish.

Another player who appears set for the exit door is right-back Emerson Royal. The Brazilian has attracted serious interest from Serie A giants AC Milan, and the Rossoneri have been in talks over a deal for him these last few weeks, according to reliable media sources.

While Royal has already given the green-light to join Milan, but it now appears Dortmund are attempting to hijack the Rossoneri's deal.

Dortmund meet Tottenham asking price for Emerson

According to reliable Brazilian corresponding news website Premier League Brasil, Dortmund have met Tottenham's asking price for Royal, around £17 million, and are attempting to hijack Milan's move for the defender.

The Bundesliga heavyweights could "block" Milan's deal for Royal, but a lot is now resting on the player himself, who has not yet decided on whether to entertain Dortmund's advances.

Royal, called "sharp" and "quick" by pundit Noel Whelan, has lost his place to star right-back Pedro Porro but proved useful last campaign in a variety of roles filling in for injured players.

The 25-year-old's future looks far away from Spurs, though, with his contract expiring in the next two years.

"I've heard" - Internal talks have taken place about signing £27m Spurs man

Tottenham could be set to take a hefty loss on one of their players to make space in the squad for new additions, it has been revealed.

Spurs targeting new defenders

Tottenham conceded 61 goals across the 2023-24 Premier League campaign, and though they have a largely settled first choice back four, the options waiting in the wings when injuries hit flattered to deceive in Ange Postecoglou's first season.

They have already begun trimming their ranks, with loanee duo Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga securing permanent departures to Leeds United and Millwall respectively, while the arrival of Archie Gray from Elland Road may help add depth at right back.

But there is still work to be done, with Emerson Royal having openly revealed his desire to leave amid interest from AC Milan.

"I am not a player [who’s happy] to stay on the bench. I want to play. If it’s not here, I get it. But let me go to a place where I play", he explained. “[The club and I] are talking. I want to play in the Brazilian national team, play in a World Cup. In the last few years I’ve always been called up, with Tite, with Diniz.

"But I understand that those who do not play for their club hardly play in the national team. So I have to look for new club or, if I stay at Tottenham, have a good proposal to play. Let’s see what’s best for me and also everywhere.”

But there is another defender whose future needs sorting too.

Talks being held over full back

The player in question, of course, is left-back Sergio Reguilon, who spent last season on loan with Manchester United and then Brentford.

Signed for £27m back in 2020, the Spaniard is once again on the hunt for a new club as he is clearly not in Postecoglou's thinking.

And one journalist has tipped Borussia Dortmund to make a surprise move for the defender.

“The only thing I would say in terms of a new suitor is that I’ve heard in the last 24 hours that Dortmund could be one to watch,” former CBS journalist turned transfer insider Ben Jacobs said.

“We know that Dortmund wanted Ian Maatsen, he’s now a Villa player and Dortmund are therefore looking for a player in that position and internally they have discussed Reguilon as a possibility.”

Another option could be a return to Manchester United, according to Football Insider, with the club on the hunt for low-cost cover for Luke Shaw and Reguilon thought to be priced at around £10m this summer.

However, that move seems less likely. On loan for the first half of the season, Reguilon only started four games for the club, despite fellow left-back Luke Shaw missing 10 games during the Spaniard's stint at Old Trafford.

With Ten Hag clearly not favouring Reguilon and having just been handed a new contract in Manchester, Dortmund feels a far more likely destination out of the pair.

Spurs move to repeat Gray masterclass for "special" £35m "entertainer"

The transfer window opened just over four weeks ago, and after a slow start and a lack of exciting deals, it's starting to heat up.

It's no different for Tottenham Hotspur, who made their first permanent addition to Ange Postecoglou's team last week when they spent £30m on signing Leeds United wonderkid, Archie Gray.

It was a surprise to see the Lilywhites go so big on a young and exciting prospect, but based on recent reports, they could be set to do it again for another up-and-coming superstar this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from journalist Ben Jacobs via his show on Playback, Tottenham are one of several sides interested in Stade Rennais' young prodigy, Desire Doue.

Alongside the Lilywhites, Jacobs claims that Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are keen to sign the player this summer, but it is the North Londoners who are "really starting to move."

A separate report from the MailOnline in May revealed that it will cost Daniel Levy and Co around £35m to prise the talented Frenchman away from the Ligue 1 outfit this summer.

It would be an eye-watering amount to spend on a 19-year-old prospect, but as with the Gray transfer, it could prove to be an absolute bargain in the long run.

Spurs could repeat their Gray masterclass

Now, while Gray and Doue are different sorts of players, there are a couple of things they have in common.

The first is that they've made less than 100 senior appearances in their career, with the Englishman making 52 thus far and the "special" Frenchman, as dubbed by data analyst Ben Mattinson, making 76 to date.

This highlights just how raw they are and perhaps serves as a warning for fans not to expect the world from them right away.

The second similarity is that they've already shown an element of versatility in their short careers.

For example, the former Peacocks gem played much of last season as a right-back, but he's also started as a defensive, attacking, and central midfielder and was even being described by Mattinson as a "future £100m" midfielder.

Likewise, the Angers-born "entertainer", as dubbed by Mattinson, has started everywhere for Rennais, including central and attacking midfield, left and right midfield, striker and second striker and on both wings, which may well be music to Postecoglou's ears.

Lastly, alongside their similar price tags, they are incredibly highly rated by those in the know.

Mattinson described Gray as a player who "ticks every box", and Rennais midfielder Baptiste Santamaria described his teammate as "the most gifted youngster I've seen in my career."

Ultimately, there is always a risk in signing a young player like Doue, but with his impressive showings over the last year or so, the interest he has garnered from some of the biggest clubs in the world and the way those in the know speak about him, Spurs look like they could get their hands on an incredible prospect to go alongside the one they signed from Leeds last week.

Spurs in "regular contact" over "monster" £60m Son Heung-min rival

Description

It was a Premier League campaign of ups and downs for Tottenham Hotspur last season, as new boss Ange Postecoglou led them to a ten-game unbeaten streak at the start but just missed out on Champions League qualification at the end.

Now, getting into the Europa League in the club's first year without Harry Kane is an achievement in and of itself, but there's still a feeling that if they weren't so ravaged by injury and a few starts, were able to maintain their form for that little bit longer, Spurs would be back on the biggest stage in 2024/25.

That said, one player who enjoyed an incredibly productive year in terms of goals and assists was club captain Son Heung-min.

However, he could have some extra competition next season as, based on recent reports, Daniel Levy and Co may be about to bring in the perfect rival for the South Korean international.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from transfers expert Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are looking to bolster their frontline this summer and have identified Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto as a 'concrete target.'

Romano has revealed that the Lilywhites are "in regular contact with the agent of Pedro Neto" and that the club would be "happy to try again" to sign him in the coming weeks.

However, he also clarifies that due to the number of injuries the talented winger has suffered in recent seasons, they would only be willing to do so in "normal conditions, not crazy conditions", which would mean the Old Gold dramatically reducing their £60m valuation.

If the Midlands side acquiesce to a somewhat reduced price, signing Neto may be too good a transfer to miss out on, especially if he could provide more of a challenge to Son next season.

How Neto compares to Son

Now, the elephant in the room is Neto's poor injury record, and there is simply no getting away from it. Last season alone, he missed 19 games due to two hamstring injuries.

However, if he were brought to Spurs to challenge for a place in the team on the left, as he is left-footed and has started more games on that side in his career, he wouldn't be expected to play every game. He could come in and out of the team with Son to ensure they both got the rest they needed and remained fresh for the biggest games.

So, with that in mind, how does he compare to the South Korean icon regarding their output?

It's the former Bayer Leverkusen star who comes out ahead here, but it's close enough to suggest that the Old Gold's "monster", as dubbed by data analyst Ben Mattinson, could be incredible in Postecoglou's system.

In 24 appearances, the 24-year-old scored three goals and provided 11 assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.71 games. In contrast, the South Korean star scored 17 goals and provided ten assists, which equates to a goal involvement every 1.33 games.

Ultimately, while the concerns around his injury are genuine and shouldn't be ignored, signing Neto for a reduced fee this summer could be a genius move for Spurs, as the idea of him rotating starts with an ageing Son is an exciting prospect indeed.

Tottenham hold talks to sign £50,000-a-week forward who Pep called incredible

Tottenham chiefs have held recent talks over signing a forward who is highly rated by Man City boss Pep Guardiola, as Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou seeks further attacking additions.

Spurs target more forward signings after Timo Werner

Chairman Daniel Levy's first order of business this summer was sealing a season-long loan extension for Timo Werner, who impressed in flashes under Postecoglou last term with his burst of speed and versatility.

The German racked up two goals and a further three assists over 13 Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites during the second half of 2023/2024, helping them to qualify for the Europa League and motivating Levy to strike a new arrangement with RB Leipzig.

Werner will now remain at Spurs until the end of next season, and they have the opportunity to sign him permanently from Leipzig next summer for around £8.5 million. Undoubtedly prudent business by the north Londoners, reliable media sources maintain there will be more attacking signings after Werner.

Tottenham are targeting an out-and-out replacement for Harry Kane, while technical director Johan Lange is also believed to want another quality winger. Spurs maintain an interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as one option, and reports have even claimed that Levy is willing to pay the entirety of his £60 million release clause.

Cheaper options from abroad come in the form of Galatasaray winger Baris Yilmaz, who started every game for Turkey at Euro 2024. Turkish media have stated that Spurs are ready to lodge an official bid for Yilmaz, but it remains to be seen if this comes to fruition.

Postecoglou may prefer an option with proven Premier League experience, though, and his club are said to be firm contenders to sign Wolves star Pedro Neto. The Portuguese is a key player for Gary O'Neil at Molineux when fit and available, having racked up 11 assists in 24 appearances across all competitions last season.

The biggest issue with Neto is his questionable injury record, with the former Lazio winger missing a combined total of 108 games since joining Wolves in 2019.

Tottenham hold recent talks over signing Pedro Neto

According to HITC, this hasn't stopped Spurs from entering into discussions for the 24-year-old. Indeed, the outlet reports that Tottenham have held talks over signing Neto in recent weeks, but face competition from Newcastle United who've done the same. Wolves value the £50,000-per-week forward at around £60 million, the same value as Eze's release clause, so it will be interesting to see which player Levy ultimately moves for.

Arsenal and Liverpool, who boast good relationships with Neto's agent Jorge Mendes, are contenders as well. Chelsea, meanwhile, are the latest side linked with a move as they monitor the forward's situation.
