Description

It's been over three weeks since the transfer window opened, and after a slow start, Tottenham Hotspur have finally started making moves in the market.

They have been linked to a long list of talented players from Eberechi Eze to Santiago Gimenez, but made their first permanent signing last week as they splashed £30m on Leeds United's incredibly exciting wonderkid Archie Gray.

However, Daniel Levy and Co are seemingly just getting started.

The latest player touted for a move to N17 is another up-and-coming youngster who could be seen in the same way as Gray in time.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from journalist Alan Nixon via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in Sunderland's Jobe Bellingham.

Alongside the Lilywhites, Nixon claims that Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brentford are keen to bring the younger brother of England star Jude Bellingham to the Premier League this summer, but it is the latter two clubs who pose the biggest threat to Spurs.

The good news for the North Londoners is that as long as they can agree personal terms with the 18-year-old, they shouldn't have too much trouble sorting out a deal, as the Black Cats would be willing to sell for an offer in excess of £20m. However, recent updates suggest that his preference may be to stay in the Northeast for another season.

Paying £20m might sound somewhat outlandish for a player his age, but based on how well he performed last season and how he is spoken about, it would be an investment into what he could become - similar to Gray.

Why Bellingham could be another Gray

Like Gray, last season was Bellingham's first full campaign of senior football - he only played half of 22/23 - and like the Peacocks star, he looked right at home, even if he was moved all over the pitch.

In 47 appearances for the Black Cats, the Stourbridge-born gem scored seven goals, provided one assist and started in five different positions, from centre-forward to defensive midfield.

In contrast, the former Leeds ace made 52 appearances for the Whites, provided two assists and started in four different positions, from right-back to attacking midfield.

Moreover, the Sunderland prospect is spoken about similarly to the Durham-born star, with U23 scout Antonio Mango describing him as a "wonderkid", former professional Niall Quinn dubbing him "incredible", and former manager Tony Mowbray describing the youngster as an "absolute diamond."

When you examine his underlying numbers, it's easy to see why he has impressed so many people in his short time at the Stadium of Light.

According to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across the next best 14 competitions, the 6 foot 3 dynamo ranks in the top 5% of midfielders for non-penalty expected goals, the top 11% for actual non-penalty goals and touches in the opposition's penalty area, the top 12% for progressive passes received and the top 14% for non-penalty expected goals and expected assists, all per 90.

Ultimately, there is always going to be an element of risk when spending a considerable sum of money on a player so young, but as in the case of Gray, Bellingham looks to be the real deal. While it may take him time to adjust to Premier League football, he could have a very bright future at Spurs - if they can secure his services, that is.

Description

After a campaign full of promise and disappointment, it's set to be an incredibly important summer for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to bring in the right players to support Ange Postecoglou's plan to lead the club to the top of the Premier League.

The Australian's exciting brand of attacking football helped brush away the cobwebs of the José Mourinho and Antonio Conte years.

His welcome philosophy helped the likes of Richarlison and Son Heung-min enjoy their most effective campaigns in years, and based on recent reports, the club could soon welcome a new player who'd be the ideal rival for the South Korean superstar.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from journalist Konstantinos Lianos, Tottenham are one of several sides keen on signing Stade Rennais star Desire Doue this summer and have made him a "top priority." It's even stated that they want to have a deal done by next week.

Alongside the Lilywhites, the reporter revealed that Chelsea have also marked the 19-year-old as a priority signing, while Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in landing the talented attacker this summer.

A separate report from GIVEMESPORT late last month revealed the other major obstacle Spurs will have to contend with to land the talented Frenchman: his price.

According to the report, he's valued at around £60m, and while that is an enormous sum of money for a teenager, it could prove value for money if he can reach the potential so many seem to believe he has and provide real competition for Son at the same time.

Why Doue would be a dream Son rival

Now, given Son's immense importance to Spurs and Doue's age, it would be unfair for fans to expect him to come into the team this summer and immediately challenge the South Korean for a consistent starting spot on the left, but there is no reason to believe he couldn't provide a challenge for the veteran winger.

For example, while he wasn't able to replicate the 32-year-old's incredible return of 27 goals and assists in 36 appearances, he was able to rack up a respectable ten goals and assists in 42 games, which is a seriously impressive achievement for someone his age.

Moreover, according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the young "entertainer", as dubbed by data analyst Ben Mattinson, sits in the top 4% of attacking midfielders and wingers for blocks, the top 6% for progressive passes, successful take-ons and interceptions, the top 15% for tackles and the top 21% for shot-creating actions, all per 90.

Not only do his impressive defensive numbers there show that he's more than willing to chip in and help the team, but the fact he's already ranking so highly for successful take-ons and progressive passes suggests that with more time and development under a progressive manager like Postecoglou, he could become a serious attacking threat, either as a direct goalscorer or creator.

A pass is considered progressive if the distance between the starting point and the next touch is at least 10 meters closer to the opponent's goal or any completed pass into the penalty area.

Ultimately, with an impressive campaign last season and an array of underlying numbers that show he's already elite in certain metrics, Doue looks like he could be one of the game's next great attackers.

While he wouldn't replace Son today, he'd be the dream rival for him over the next few years, and after that, he should be more than ready to take over as the Lilywhites' starting left-winger.

Whilst established stars will always be the priority for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to break into the Premier League's top four, it appears that the club are also eager to bring in young talents with high ceilings.

Levy looks towards the next generation of Spurs stars

The recent arrival of Archie Gray has encapsulated Daniel Levy's emphasis upon signing young players. The 18-year-old joined Spurs from Leeds United in a deal worth between £25million and £30million with Joe Rodon going the other way as a part of the transfer.

Gray is just one of many young talents to have made the move to N17 in recent windows. Lucas Bergvall agreed a deal to join the North London outfit back in February 2024 with the Swedish teenager choosing Spurs over European giants Barcelona.

Spurs' search for the next generation of stars doesn't stop there with, Ange Postecoglou's side also in the market for England under 21s star Jaden Philogene. The current Hull City ace has interest from the likes of Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town after making it clear that he wants to play in the Premier League.

With Levy clearly not afraid of shopping in the second tier, Spurs are now said to be interested in another teenage star making his name in the division.

Spurs interested in another Championship talent

As first reported by Give Me Sport, journalist Alan Nixon is claiming that Tottenham are interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham this summer.

The report states that Spurs have identified Bellingham as their primary target as they look to reinforce their midfield during the transfer window. It is claimed that Postecoglu is a personal admirer of the teenager, hence the club's eagerness to pursue a deal this summer.

Whilst Spurs will no doubt prove an attractive option for Bellingham, they will face competition for his signature from numerous sides across the top flight. Nixon reports that Brentford, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all queueing up for the player.

Bellingham's current club Sunderland are said to be demanding a fee in excess of £20 million for the England youth international, a figure that Spurs should have no issue matching as they continue to enjoy the spoils of Harry Kane's move to Bayern Munich last summer.

The 18-year-old featured in all but one of the Black Cats' league games last season, contributing seven goals and one assist in the process. Despite his young age, Bellingham has quickly established himself as one of his club's prize assets with former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray waxing lyrical about the player back in 2023: “He’s an absolute diamond.

“He just loves football and wants to get better. He tests the coaches every day. He’s got a real growth mindset. At 17, it’s unbelievable. Where he can be in five years’ time, I’m not sure, but I’m really pleased with him. His greatest asset is that he wants to learn.”

With the arrival of Gray suggesting that Levy and Co are not shy about spending big on teenage talents from the Championship, there is every chance that Bellingham could soon be lining up alongside his fellow 18-year-old in the heart of Spurs' midfield.

Spurs in talks to sign £68m England gem who's similar to Musiala

Tottenham have started their summer transfer window with purpose, acquiring Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray for around £40m, and Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden for £8.5m.

Ange Postecoglou will be happy with the investment so far ahead of the next Premier League season, getting some very promising young midfielders, but attention could now turn to some forward reinforcements, to help the likes of Son Heung-min in the next campaign, spearheading the attack.

Son scored 17 goals in 36 appearances last season for Spurs, with the next-best tally coming from Richarlison, netting 12 goals in his 31 appearances. They were the only two players to get double-digit goal tallies.

Tottenham chasing England international

According to reports from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are seriously considering a move for Crystal Palace star, Eberechi Eze.

It is understood Eze is open to offers, and he has a release clause of £60m plus £8m in add-ons. It's reported that there has been talks with agents to discover the potential terms of a deal.

The reports also state Spurs interest in Rennes winger Desire Doue. However, with his fee possibly being inflated towards that similar £60m fee that Eze would cost, it could deter Tottenham from getting involved.

The England international could add that extra creative spark in attacking areas for the Lilywhites, with an ability to add goals from open play and set pieces too. The 26-year-old made 31 appearances in all competitions for Palace last season, scoring 11 goals, and providing six assists.

How Eze is similar to Euro 2024 star Jamal Musiala

The players rank as each other's closest "similar player" via FBref's compare feature, and whilst one has been lighting Euro 2024 up, the other has made a few appearances from the bench, but the similarities in their styles of play and best qualities are worth speaking on.

Musiala - once of Chelsea - made 38 appearances in all competitions for Bayern Munich last season, scoring 12 goals, and providing eight assists. The German also started all five of Germany's Euro 2024 games, scoring three goals.

Both players want to be heavily involved in the attacking third, whether it's creating chances for others, or finding space for a shot themselves. Eze only got three fewer G/A for Palace last season, as Musiala got for Bayern, and this was playing in a far worse side.

Both players love to beat their man, taking players on and using their high level of dribbling to create chances and advantages. Eze averages 3.02 successful take-ons per 90, but surprisingly only averages 2.98 progressive carries per 90.

Whilst Musiala averages 4.07 successful take-ons per 90, ranking him in the top 1% of wingers and attacking midfielders in Europe for this metric, but also averages 5.3 progressive carries per 90, nearly double Eze in this stat. Either way, they are both very strong ball carriers who love to make things happen in the final third.

The fact Musiala makes more could well be down to the fact Musiala is playing in a much more ball-dominant team, where teams sit off a bit deeper and progressive carries are important to breaking the lines, whilst Palace for large parts of the season, were hitting teams on the break.

So, by putting Eze in a possession-orientated side, he would get far more frequent chances to carry the ball and get into 1v1 situations, which would see vast improvements in his other metrics, and also his G/A output on a better side.

Imagine him & Gray: Spurs set to make bid for £50m England international

Ange Postecoglou is heading into his second season at Tottenham looking to turn that fifth-place Premier League finish into a top-four one, attaining Champions League football for the first time since the 2021/22 season.

Tottenham have already made one big signing this summer, bringing Leeds United star midfielder Archie Gray to the club, costing around £40m, and subsequently sanctioning the sale of Joe Rodon to Leeds on a permanent basis, for around £10m.

The question now is how Spurs will line up in midfield, with the likes of Gray, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, James Maddison, and possibly even the addition of one more midfield signing.

Tottenham transfer news

According to reports from journalist Ben Jacobs Tottenham are gearing up towards a bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. The reports suggest that Spurs have emerged as the leading contenders for the Blues academy product.

Jacobs also pointed out Aston Villa and Atlético Madrid have shown interest, but it is unlikely they could meet Chelsea's valuation for the midfielder, which is around £50m, similar to the fee they earned for Mason Mount.

Whilst nothing is currently advanced according to the reports, Tottenham are 'likely to bid' for the player, and this could be one to watch as the summer transfer window develops.

How Gray and Gallagher could work as a partnership

Gray made 52 appearances for his boyhood club Leeds last season in all competitions, providing two assists in those games, and contributing to 22 clean sheets. The teenager played in a host of positions, showing his versatility, as he made 30 appearances from right-back, ten from central midfield, six from defensive midfield, and three from attacking midfield.

Gallagher was also playing for his boyhood club Chelsea last campaign, making 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing nine assists. The Chelsea man is also a similarly versatile midfielder, playing in defensive midfield, central midfield and attacking midfield.

Both players have experience playing in a double pivot, whether that's Gray starting next to Glen Kamara, or inverting from full-back, or whether that's Gallagher ending the season strong in a duo with Moises Caicedo.

But how could the two complement each other? Well, instantly these two are giving you a very athletic base, both having an excellent ability to make up ground, get involved in defensive duels, win the ball back, and make tackles.

Gray averages 2.3 tackles per 90, whilst Gallagher averages 2.45 tackles per 90 over the last year. The Chelsea midfielder also flexes some other impressive defensive metrics, averaging 1.24 interceptions per 90, and 1.44 blocks per 90.

Gallagher would very much be adding a strong athletic profile to that midfield, compared to a "Poch-era Dele Alli" by Jack Pitt-Brooke, winning the ball back aggressively high up the pitch, suiting Postecoglou's high-intensity style of play.

Gray would provide a more technical profile alongside Gallagher, averaging 4.15 progressive passes per 90 (with a lot of scope to improve), making 1.8 progressive carries per 90, and 1.08 successful take-ons per 90. His carrying ability and 6-foot frame makes him extremely press-resistant, with the ability to use his body to protect the ball, and then drive forwards from deep areas.

You then also have the creative passer in Maddison joining them in midfield, being the link between midfield and attack, to profit from the positions the duality and carrying qualities of Gray and Gallagher provide. This is certainly a duo that could take Postecoglou's side to the next level.

Spurs struck gold on stunning star who's now worth more than Gray & Doue

In recent seasons, Tottenham Hotspur have shifted their recruitment to focus on signing young talents who can affect the first team whilst keeping one eye on the future.

Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven are just a handful of examples who have arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the past year before going on to make an immediate impact on Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

They’ve also signed youngsters Lucas Bergvall and Luka Vuskovic, who have spent time away from north London, in the hopes of gaining valuable experience before making an impact for the Lilywhites.

Such recruitment has already continued this summer, with the £40m signing of midfielder Archie Gray from Leeds United following the 18-year-old’s impressive debut campaign at senior level, where he featured 44 times for Daniel Farke’s side.

Their business has allowed for a much more youthful squad, with the club still targeting multiple young prospects to improve their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer news

Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Hull City winger Jaden Philogene after his impressive campaign in the Championship under former Tigers boss Liam Rosenior.

The 22-year-old scored 12 and assisted six in his 33 league appearances, prompting further interest from the likes of Ipswich Town, Manchester United and Barcelona. The club have also registered an interest in French talent Desire Doue, but aren’t alone in their pursuit.

The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents around Europe, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United also

monitoring Doue over the last few years after he burst onto the scene in France.

Reports earlier in the summer have suggested that Rennes could demand a fee in the region of £35m to allow him to depart in the summer transfer window, with Doue fitting perfectly into the club’s current scouting plan of targeting talents with huge potential.

However, Doue and recent new addition Gray are both valued lower than one player who has become a real hit under Postecoglou after the Aussie’s arrival last summer.

Pape Sarr’s market value in 2024

Upon joining the club for £14.6m back in the summer of 2021, the name of Pape Sarr would have been an unfamiliar one to the majority of Tottenham supporters.

However, three years on from his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he’s cemented his place in Postecoglou’s midfield, looking at home in the Premier League despite his tender age of 21.

Since his move from French side Metz, the Senegal star has made 49 appearances for Spurs, scoring on three occasions - including a brilliantly taken finish against Bournemouth.

He’s formed an excellent partnership with Yves Bissouma, with his market value taking a sharp increase as a result of his excellent performances.

In 2024, the "relentless" Sarr, as described by scout EBL, currently has a market value of £38m, as per Transfermarkt - a £24m increase on the fee the club paid for him just a handful of years ago, with the midfielder having the potential to improve even further.

However, his subsequent value is higher than Gray and Doue, who are only valued at £15.2m and £25.3m respectively, despite their recent price tags.

It’s been an excellent start to Sarr's Tottenham career, proving that the club’s current transfer strategy is an effective one.

Postecoglou’s faith in the youngster has certainly helped him develop and grow into the potential he once had during his time at Metz, with

the sky being the limit for the 21-year-old in north London.

Better than Neto: Spurs keen on signing “unbelievable” star in Gray repeat

Ange Postecoglou enjoyed a solid first season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, leading the club to a fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Whilst it wasn’t perfect, he built the foundations of a successful team, with a core of young players able to develop and thrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under his guidance.

New signings Guglielmo Vicario and Micky van de Ven impressed in their debut campaigns in north London, demonstrating the Aussie’s ability to recruit excellent talents.

Archie Gray is the latest player to arrive at the club, joining the Lilywhites for £40m from Championship side Leeds United after an impressive campaign under Daniel Farke that saw the 18-year-old feature 44 times - a remarkable feat for a player of his age.

He could be joined at the club by another young English talent, who, like Gray, has impressed in England’s second tier over the last 12 months.

Tottenham interested in signing 22-year-old talent this summer

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, after his impressive campaign in the Championship under former Tigers boss Liam Rosenior.

The 22-year-old scored 12 and assisted six in his 33 league appearances, prompting interest from the likes of Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Barcelona.

At one stage, the forward looked set to join the La Liga giants, but the Englishman stated that he wants to stay at home and play in the Premier League instead of a move to Spain.

The report states that Ipswich remain in the lead for his signature though Spurs remain interested, and could repeat a deal that saw Gray move to the club - with Postecoglou’s side turning their attention to stars from the Championship.

He would undoubtedly be a superb addition to the Spurs side, allowing the north London outfit to forget about another star they’ve been targeting in recent days.

Why Philogene can allow Spurs to forget about Neto

In recent weeks, Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign Wolves forward Pedro Neto, but any deal for the Portuguese talent could set them back upwards of £60m, with Arsenal also interested in his signature.

However, the 24-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent times, with Philogene even outperforming the Portugal international, albeit at a lower level.

Former Aston Villa youngster Philogene achieved a total of 18 goal contributions in 2023/24, seven more than Neto could muster as Wolves secured a 14th-placed Premier League finish.

The “unbelievable” Philogene, as described by The Second Tier Podcast host Justin Peach, is more of a threat in the final third, completing 56 more progressive carries, whilst also averaging nearly double the amount of shots per 90.

He’s also been a threat when attempting to take on the opposition, completing 50 more take-ons at a success rate of 46% - 4% higher than the Wolves ace.

Whilst Neto would be an excellent signing, Philogene has demonstrated his talents at Hull and is more than deserving of a move to the Premier League.

They may face stiff competition for his signature, but he’d be a cheaper and arguably more effective alternative to Neto, potentially striking up a successful partnership with new signing Gray at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

Spurs struck gold on unreal "monster" now worth millions more than Guehi

After a few weeks of relative silence, Tottenham Hotspur made a bold move in the transfer market this week and announced their first permanent signing of the window: 18-year-old wonderkid Archie Gray.

The former Leeds United prospect has joined the Lilywhites with plenty of hype and excitement, but based on recent reports, Daniel Levy and Co are still busy looking for more quality additions to bolster Ange Postecoglou's squad.

One of the names that has been touted for a move to N17 for quite some time is Crystal Palace star and England international Marc Guehi.

While he'd be a brilliant player to add to the squad, the club already have an incredible star in that position, and he's worth even more.

Cristian Romero's Spurs career

The player in question is Argentine international Cristian Romero.

Spurs paid Italian side Atalanta around £42m for the then Serie A Defender of the Season in the summer of 2021, and to say he's been a success in North London since would be an understatement.

The World Cup winner has made 98 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring six goals, providing one assist, and playing under four different permanent managers.

He has undoubtedly been rash at points during his time in England, picking up 28 yellow cards, three second yellows and one red card, but over the last year or so, he has significantly improved and picked up just seven yellows and one red in 34 games.

The defensive "monster", as dubbed by journalist Charlie Eccleshare, has also become one of the key leadership figures within the team, and was named co-vice-captain alongside James Maddison before the start of last season.

He has also won plaudits from Lionel Messi, who described him as the "best defender in the world" last year, and we reckon the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner probably knows a thing or two about football.

Unsurprisingly, after years of impressive performances and international success, his valuation has increased and is higher than his potential new teammate's, Guehi.

Cristian Romero's valuation in 2024

According to a report from the Sun earlier this week, Spurs will have to get ahead of several other interested parties, such as Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus, if they want to bring Guehi to N17 this summer.

However, the crucial part is that they'll have to spend around £50m to secure his services, as Palace wants a fee similar to the one they will receive for Michael Olise.

If the North Londoners can get ahead of the pack, it would represent a significant investment in the team, but the potential price tag is still less than Romero's valuation.

According to the CIES Football Observatory, the 26-year-old is worth up to €67m, which converts to a cool £57m, which is about £7m more than the Eagles' star centre-back could cost the club.

This high valuation is likely due to a combination of factors, such as his international success, strong form last season, or the fact that he's still relatively young for a top-level centre-back.

Ultimately, signing Guehi would undoubtedly improve Postecoglou's squad this summer, but the Australian is already lucky to have a player as talented and valuable as Romero in his team.

Spurs could sign Ange his own Rashford with "sensational" £30m PL star

The transfer window has been open for three weeks now, but it's only been in the last week that Tottenham Hotspur have burst into life.

Ange Postecoglou's side have just signed the incredibly exciting Archie Gray from Leeds United, and based on recent reports, it looks like Daniel Levy and Co are far from finished.

The latest name touted for a move to the White side of North London just enjoyed his best campaign in years and has even been compared to England international Marcus Rashford.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Tottenham have maintained their interest in Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and have been 'tracking the winger's situation.'

The good news for the Lilywhites is that the Tricky Trees have set a price at which they'd be willing to sell the talented Englishman.

The bad news is that the price is around ten times what they paid Chelsea for him a year ago, standing at a cool £30m.

If Levy and Co were to push ahead and bring the former Blues gem to North London, it would be a sizeable investment, but based on his performances last season, it's possibly one worth making, especially with comparisons to Rashford in his back pocket.

Why Hudson-Odoi would be a good signing and his comparison to Rashford

Okay, so before we look at why Hudson-Odoi would be a great signing for Spurs, let's take a look at this comparison to Rashford.

The comparison itself stems from FBref, which looks at all the players in Europe's top five leagues and creates a list of the ten most similar players for each one by position, and for the Forest ace, they have concluded that the Manchester United star is the sixth most similar winger.

The best way to understand some of the statistical reasons behind this decision is to look at how close the pair ranks for certain underlying metrics, such as non-penalty expected goals and assists, progressive passes, shots on target, passing accuracy, shot-creating actions, and successful take-ons, all per 90.

So, aside from his statistical similarities to the England international, why else would he be a good signing for the Lilywhites?

Well, after several years of poor form and setbacks, the "sensational" 23-year-old, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, finally showed the footballing world what he could do again last season, racking up an impressive haul of eight goals and two assists in 34 games for a team that was in a relegation battle for much of the campaign.

Moreover, while a lot has happened in the years since, the former Chelsea gem is still the same person that Bayern Munich were willing to drop £70m on in the 2020/21 season, so if Spurs can secure his services as he starts to find his feet again, it could be a fantastic bit of business.

Ultimately, every transfer involves a certain level of risk, but with the fee not being too excessive, his recent surge in form, and the potential of what he could become, signing Hudson-Odoi this summer could offer a significant upside for Spurs - the comparisons to Rashford are just a bonus.

Barcelona decision opens door for Spurs to move for £200,000-per-week star

Barcelona and president Joan Laporta have made a decision on pursuing one £200,000-per-week forward, which may actually benefit Tottenham as manager Ange Postecoglou looks to make more attacking additions after Timo Werner.

Spurs expected to make further forward signings after Werner

The Germany international penned an extension on his loan deal at Spurs, which now runs until the end of next season.

Werner came as Spurs' first signing of the summer window, and it was an astute deal, with chairman Daniel Levy re-negotiating the buy-option clause in his contract to just £8.5 million as well as keeping the winger for another full campaign.

The former Chelsea man's two goals and three assists in the Premier League told just half the story, as Werner's lightening fast pace and ability to crop up in dangerous positions was a real asset for Postecoglou - even if there are concerns surrounding his finishing ability at times.

However, despite keeping Werner for the entirety of 2024/2025, technical director Johan Lange and the wider recruitment team are still expected to provide Postecoglou with further attacking additions.

Tottenham want to sign a prolific striker to finally replace Harry Kane, according to various reports, and it is believed that another wide player could join Spurs before summer deadline day.

Wolves star Pedro Neto is back under consideration at Tottenham, but worries lie with the Portuguese's extensive injury record rather than his ability to contribute. There are alternatives to the 24-year-old, and the north Londoners have been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze recently.

The Englishman, who was rewarded for his 2023/2024 form with a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Euros, will command a price tag of around £60 million - which is the full value of his release clause.

Any proven attacking midfielder is likely to come at a premium, and none more so than Spain star Nico Williams. The 21-year-old, who racked up a pretty impressive 19 assists in all competitions for Athletic Bilbao last season, has also really impressed at Euro 2024 so far.

There is a growing clamour for the winger's services, amid claims there is a £49 million release clause in his contract, but Williams could also command extortionate wages given he already earns £200,000-per-week at Bilbao.

Barcelona decision opens door for Tottenham to move for Williams

According to Football Insider, Barcelona have decided to pull out of the race for Williams due to his salary demands, which has made the Premier League his most likely destination as things stand.

Laporta appears to have inadvertently handed Spurs a potential opportunity, as it was reported that Williams favoured a move to Barcelona, but the Camp Nou is now off the table.
