Lazio’s Offer for Spanish Defender Falls Short as Spurs Could Re-Enter the Race - The Laziali
Description

Lazio are keen to recruit Spanish youngster Sergi Dominguez, but they have thus far failed to satisfy Dinamo Zagreb.

The Background

The Biancocelesti have identified the 21-year-old as the ideal successor for his compatriot, Mario Gila, who signed for AC Milan earlier this week. The Barcelona academy product moved to Dinamo Zagreb last summer, and produced a stellar first season in Croatia, helping the club win the domestic double.

Lazio Open Direct Talks With Dinamo Zagreb for Sergi Dominguez

On Thursday, Lazio Sporting Director Angelo Fabiani travelled to Croatia for face-to-face talks with Dinamo officials, but he returned empty-handed, as his offer wasn’t enough to convince his counterparts to part ways with their prized asset.

The Figures

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Manuele Baiocchini, Lazio proposed an initial loan deal worth €3.5 million, with an option to buy for another €8 million. On the other hand, Dinamo’s asking price for Dominguez rose to €15 million. Therefore, the two clubs continue to be separated by a significant gap.

Could Spurs Rekindle Their Interest in Dominguez

In the meantime, Il Corriere della Sera (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) warns Lazio about Tottenham Hotspur, who could decide to pursue the player again. The North Londoners had Dominguez on their shortlist early on, but then turned their attention to their midfield revamp, signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

But after selling Radu Dragusin to Fiorentina, Spurs could decide to launch a concrete attempt to buy the Spanish centre-back, and they certainly have the means to blow Lazio out of the water. This wouldn’t be the first time the Aquile miss out on a top target despite starting as the frontrunners. They have already allowed Deportivo La Coruña to pip them for Jonathan Asp Jensen.

Lazio Still Negotiating a Deal for Spanish Defender Wanted at Spurs - The Laziali
Description

Lazio are in active negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb for Sergi Dominguez, who is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Lazio Selling Defensive Stalwarts

The Biancocelesti are currently undergoing a defensive overhaul. They have already agreed to sell Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd, while Napoli, Atalanta, and potentially others are vying for Mario Gila. Lazio already have an internal solution to replace Romagnoli, as Oliver Provstgaard is set for a promotion. However, they will have to buy a new defender to replace Gila.

Lazio in Talks with Dinamo Zagreb for Sergi Dominguez

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Spaniard’s successor could be his compatriot, Dominguez, as Lazio are currently negotiating a deal with Dinamo Zagreb. The 21-year-old would cost the Italian capital side €10 million plus bonuses at the very least.

The youngster is a youth product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy who left the nest last summer in search of a prominent role. Dominguez immediately became a key player at the Croatian capital club. He made 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists. His contributions helped Dinamo win the domestic double.

Are Tottenham Interested in Dominguez?

Pedulla also notes that Spurs are also following the young Spaniard. However, signing another centre-back is no longer a priority for Roberto De Zerbi’s club, especially after securing Marcos Senesi’s signature.

Boost for Lazio as Tottenham Pull Out of the Race for Ex-Barcelona Defender - The Laziali
Description

Tottenham Hotspur don’t consider signing Sergi Dominguez a priority at the moment, which could pave the way for a transfer to Lazio.

Sergi Dominguez: From Barcelona to Dinamo Zagreb

The 21-year-old is a youth product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy. After rising through the club’s ranks, he found limited space at the senior level, so he was sold to Dinamo Zagreb last summer for a modest transfer of €1.2 million.

The young defender had a stellar first season in Croatia. He cemented himself as a regular starter, making 41 appearances across all competitions, contributing with two goals and four assists, and helping his employers win the domestic double.

Tottenham Make Way for Lazio in Domiguez Pursuit

Thanks to his exploits in Zagreb, Dominguez earned himself several suitors across Europe, and chief among them are Lazio and Tottenham.

But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Spurs are currently focused on recruiting two new central midfielders (they’re chasing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes), so they aren’t planning to make a move for the Barcelona academy product. The North Londoners have already bolstered their backline by signing Marcos Senesi on a free transfer from Bournemouth.

What Lazio Need to Secure Dominguez

Tottenham’s stance will lend a hand to Lazio in their pursuit of Dominguez, whose price tag is estimated at €11-12 million. But as Pedulla notes, the Biancocelesti will have to raise transfer funds before making a concrete offer, especially after being restricted to a net-zero transfer market.

Lazio risk missing out on Dinamo Zagreb youngster Sergi Dominguez, as Tottenham Hotspur have joined the fray.

Lazio Keen to Sign Sergi Dominguez

The Biancocelesti are aiming to buy at least one new central defender this summer, and have identified the 21-year-old as one of their main targets. Last week, a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport went on to claim that Lazio had already secured an agreement in principle with Dinamo Zagreb for Dominguez.

But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Aquile still have a long way to go, as a Premier League side is trying to splash them out of the water.

Tottenham Join Lazio in Dominguez Race

As the transfer market expert explains, Spurs will turn their attention to Dominguez after securing the signature of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer. The North Londoners are planning to sign a second centre-back, identifying the Spain U21 international as the right profile, and they have already opened club-to-club contacts

Dominguez Price Tag & Barcelona Background

Pedulla also reveals that the transfer fee reported in the Italian press (€4-5 million) is not accurate at all, as the Croatian champions are requesting at least triple the mentioned figures, in addition to bonuses and a potential sign-on fee.

Dominguez is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy who left the club last summer due to limited first-team opportunities. This season, he contributed with two goals and four assists in his 41 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb, helping the club win the domestic double.

Lazio Defender Attracts Interest From Chelsea, Spurs & Other EPL Sides - The Laziali
Description

Lazio centre-back Mario Gila reportedly has a host of suitors in the Premier League, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Background

The 25-year-old has been developing his skills in the Italian capital since making the move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. After initially struggling for playing time, the Barcelona native is now considered a stalwart at the back for Maurizio Sarri’s team, and has also been called up for the Spanish national team earlier this year.

Lazio Insisted on Keeping Mario Gila Last Summer

Last season, Gila was linked with several possible destinations, including a potential return to Real Madrid who have a 50% sell-on fee on a future sale. However, Lazio weren’t open to offloading any of their key players last summer after being hit with transfer ban that prevented them from signing replacements.

Nevertheless, the situation could change in the coming months, as the Biancocelesti management is confident about lifting the ban ahead of the January transfer window. Therefore, it remains to be seen if this could pave the way for a major sale to fund the market. If so, then Gila might be a candidate thanks to his growing number of admirers.

Tottenham & Several Other EPL Clubs Tracking Mario Gila

According to Caught Offside, Tottenham have added Gila to their January shortlist. The North Londoners could intensify their Serie A shopping, especially following the official return of former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici to the club.

Nevertheless, the source insists that Lazio aren’t willing to negotiate a deal below €45 million. The same report also reveals interest from Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Everton.

Why the Stars Could Be Lining up for Lazio Winger to Join Tottenham - The Laziali
Description

Lazio winger Gustav Iskasen has more than one reason to accept a move to Tottenham Hotspur should the opportunity arise.

Spurs Changing Skins

Despite winning the Europa League, the North Londoners decided to sack Ange Postecoglou following a disastrous Premier League campaign that saw the club finish in a shocking 17th place. Thomas Frank was identified as the right replacement due to the formidable work he achieved at Brentford.

Gustav Iskasen on Tottenham Shortlist

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Danish manager has placed his compatriot, Isaksen, on his shortlist for the right-winger slot. The source expects Spurs to sell Wilson Odobert before targeting a new player for the role, someone capable of offering a challenge for Brennan Johnson.

Hence, the Lazio star has been identified as one of the players on the shortlist.

As the report explains, it would be difficult for Isaksen to turn down the opportunity to join Frank’s revolution at Tottenham. The 51-year-old tactician had already tried to recruit the Denmark international last summer when he was still at Brentford, but the move didn’t materialise.

Lazio’s Asking Price

It should also be added that the 23-year-old’s girlfriend, Olivia Holdt, plays for Tottenham Women, a factor that can never be undermined. For their part, Lazio would like to keep the Danish winger who showed vast improvement this season, but they would be willing to accept offers in the region of €25-30 million.

Man City & Spurs Join the Queue for Coveted Lazio Star - The Laziali
Description

Manchester City and Tottenham are reportedly keen to sign Lazio defender Mario Gila, who also has several other suitors.

The Background

The 24-year-old is a Real Madrid youth product who joined the Biancocelesti in the summer of 2022. While it took him some time to establish himself as a regular starter, the Spaniard has now emerged as one of the most coveted defenders in Europe. He’s being linked with a plethora of top clubs all across the Old Continent.

Man City & Spurs Keeping tabs on Mario Gila

According to CaughtOffside, Man City and Spurs are both determined to land the defender who is valued at €40-45 million. As the source explains, the Cityzens would like to unite Gila with his fellow Catalan Pep Guardiola who would help him take his game to a whole new level. On the other hand, the North Londoners are looking to add depth and quality to their shaky defence.

Real Madrid Have Upper Hand

The source also mentions interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, while previous reports had linked Gila to Inter Milan and Juventus. Nevertheless, it should be noted that Real Madrid would have a significant advantage should they decide to enter the race. Los Merengues have a 50% sell-on fee, which would translate into a discount if they were to sign the player.

Blow for Marco Baroni

As for Marco Baroni, he can only hope to maintain the services of his key defender. However, the management might find it hard to resist lucrative offers, especially if the team fails to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Aquile currently sit in 7th place, trailing behind Bologna, Juventus and Roma in the Top Four race.

Description

Lazio have reportedly been offered the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso, but have decided to turn down the opportunity.

The Biancocelesti have been very active on the market in the early going. They parted ways with key players like Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Felipe Anderson and Daichi Kamada, and brought in Loum Tchaouna, Tijani Noslin, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Nuno Tavares. Nevertheless, Lazio’s market is far from over, as they’re still looking to enhance Marco Baroni’s squad with new arrivals.

But as La Repubblica (via LazioNews24) reports, the Italian capital side isn’t interested in Lo Celso despite his recent exploits in the Copa America final. The 28-year-old is a skillful attacking midfielder who has been on Spurs’ books since 2019.

Lazio Turned Down Giovanni Lo Celso

After spending 18 months on loan at Villarreal, the Argentine returned to North London last summer, but couldn’t carve himself a starting role at Ange Postecoglu’s court. With his contract expiring in 2025, Spurs are hellbent on selling him this summer to avoid losing his services for free next summer.
