French side Marseille to trigger buy option for Tottenham loanee Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou oversaw a huge turnover in players over the summer transfer window.

After guiding Spurs to a Europa League spot in his first season at N17, the past summer window presented the Greek-Australian tactician with the opportunity to improve his squad. Over the course of the summer, Daniel Levy and the group sanctioned 16 departures across a variety of means including sales, loan deals and releases.

One player who was allowed to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan was Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. He joined Ligue 1 side Marseille on an initial loan deal for the 2024/25 season with an option to make the move permanent for a fee of around £17m.

The Denmark international has adapted to the demands of Ligue 1 like a duck to water and impressed for Marseille in a short period. He has become a mainstay in new boss Roberto de Zerbi’s first XI, helping his team climb to third in the Ligue 1 table.

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

Following a strong start to life at Stade Velodrome, Marseille sporting director Mehdi Benatia has confirmed the club will sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg permanently from Spurs.

Hojbjerg is a real leader on and off the pitch and his influence is certainly rubbing off on his teammates at Marseille. He has quickly become an indispensable figure to De Zerbi, whose side have played some fantastic stuff so far this season and rightly find themselves third in the Ligue 1 standings.

The 29-year-old, who had arrived at Spurs from Southampton back in 2020, made 39 appearances across all competitions last season but only 10 of those were starts as Big Ange preferred Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as a pair in the middle of the park. As a result, the Dane was seemingly surplus to requirements for Big Ange heading into this season.

That said, it is great to see Hojbjerg quickly becoming a crucial cog in the Marseille side. The fans, De Zerbi, Benatia and the club officials appear extremely happy with the central midfielder’s impact and contributions on the pitch.

Tottenham keen on Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a productive summer transfer window where Daniel Levy not only made some exciting signings but also let go of many players.

The North London giants have changed their transfer policy of late, with Daniel Levy and Co. focusing on bringing in young players who can make an impression at the Hotspur Way in the long term. This shift in transfer recruitment and strategy saw our club bring in the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert whilst agreeing on a deal with Gangwon FC winger Yang Min-hyuk, who is set to officially join the club in January.

Tottenham are planning to continue their recruitment drive of young talents in the forthcoming transfer windows as the club’s chiefs aim to create a conveyor belt of exciting players who can develop at N17 under the watchful eyes of Ange Postecoglou.

According to a report from Football Insider (h/t CaughtOffside), Spurs are keen on signing Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

-> Tottenham player reflects on time in N17 and opens up on playing European football

The Lilywhites are closely monitoring the Borussia Dortmund winger, who is dubbed as the next Jude Bellingham”. While Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is a different profile, he is a sublime talent like Bellingham, who moved to Real Madrid from Dortmund in 2023.

The fleet-footed wide attacker has been in great form for Dortmund this season, where he has already registered four goals and three assists in 10 appearances. Bynoe-Gittens has caught the eye with his displays in the Champions League, sparking interest from Spurs.

Given his importance to new boss Nuri Sahin’s side, the Bundesliga side are highly unlikely to sanction the youngster’s departure midway through the campaign. Thus, any potential move might have to wait until summer to come to fruition.

Spurs’ clear focus on youth recruitment aligns perfectly with how Big Ange wants his team to play. By signing the prodigious talents, Big Ange and his coaching team want to help them develop and unlock their full potential to either feature in the first team or be sold in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur have adapted a transfer strategy to land highly acclaimed young players in the academy at Hotspur Way as Daniel Levy looks to create a pipeline of talent that can feed the first team. This transfer strategy has seen the Lilywhites sign multiple high-ceiling talents at White Hart Lane as the staff at N17, followed by Ange Postecoglou, looks to nurture them into their potential.

The transfer policy has seen the club being linked to an ample of young players from around Europe and beyond, and recently highly rated starlet Michael Noonan trialed at Hotspur Way as the Lilywhites have a close look at him. However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to reveal that Manchester City are in advanced talks to land the 16-year-old striker from St. Patricks, with Noonan keen on the transfer.

Spurs lose Noonan to Manchester City

And John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, claims that the player did trial at Spurs, who are set to lose the race to attain his signatures. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham acknowledged how Spurs were keeping an eye on his development.

He said:

“I know that Noonan was on trial at Hotspur Way this summer. He can’t move until he turns 18. However, he was obviously a long-term target for the club if they invited him over for a week and gave him a full kit and everything.

“They definitely would have been keen to continue monitoring his development.”

While Michael Noonan is set to move to Manchester City, Ange Postecoglou’s side have already pivoted to another player as they look to land Noonan’s St Patricks teammate Mason Melia, who is expected to move to White Hart Lane in January 2026 after the club made a “big-money” offer to land the striker.

Djed Spence's new deal is not related to Pedro Porro's Tottenham future

Djed Spence was handed a new contract extension until 2028 but it is not remotely related to Pedro Porro’s links with Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur surprised many earlier this week by announcing that full-back Djed Spence has penned a new contract extension until 2028.

The news came out of nowhere for Spurs fans. As recently as this summer, Djed Spence’s Tottenham career was as good as over. The former England youth international’s move from Middlesbrough in 2022 hasn’t quite worked out. He was limited to sporadic appearances at the club and spent the last 18 months out on loan, the latest having come at Serie A side Genoa in the second half of last season.

Elsewhere, Pedro Porro has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Real Madrid of late. There has been intense speculation surrounding the Spaniard’s future at White Hart Lane, so a fringe player like Spence signing a new deal at the club was certain to cause some hullabaloo.

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

However, John Wenham, owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, feels Spence’s new contract has nothing to do with Porro-Real Madrid rumours. He believes the new contract extension handed to the 24-year-old is just part of an “incremental increase.”

There appears to be some meat in Wenham’s latest claims about Spence’s new contract and Porro’s exit links to Real Madrid. Spence previously had a contract at the club until 2027 and the extension sees it take a year further.

Porro, meanwhile, has caught Real’s attention with his dazzling displays in Tottenham colours. He has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League in the last 12 months. The La Liga heavyweights have been left light in the right-back position following Dani Carvajal’s serious knee injury and have made the Spurs star one of their targets to replace him next year.

Alan Shearer predicts Tottenham Hotspur win over West Ham

Alan Shearer thinks Tottenham will beat West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday

Tottenham Hotspur players went into the international break dejected following their capitulation to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Spurs were comfortably leading 2-0 and had chances to move out of Brighton’s sight in the first half. However, the Seagulls came back stronger after the interval and defeated Ange Postecoglou’s side 3-2 at the Amex Stadium.

The manner of the defeat would have stung Ange Postecoglou and his players as they failed to build on the fantastic 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. So, it is obvious that our Tottenham boss will be seeking a stirring response from his boys to the Brighton capitulation last time out at home to London rivals West Ham United during the lunchtime Premier League kick-off on Saturday.

-> Tottenham player reflects on time in N17 and opens up on playing European football

Former Premier League winner Alan Shearer has dropped his prediction of the game. He feels Spurs will have just about enough to secure all three points in the mouthwatering all-London affair.

West Ham entered a transitional phase in the summer after David Moyes was relieved of his duties at the end of last season. Julen Lopetegui was appointed as Moyes’ successor and the Hammers backed him wholeheartedly in the summer transfer window.

In Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nicklas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez, Crysencio Summerville, Max Kilman and a few more, the east Londoners made some exciting signings in Lopetegui’s first transfer window as the West Ham boss.

However, the Irons haven’t started the 2024/25 campaign as they would have liked to. That said, a London derby against Lopetegui’s side that hasn’t gelled well so far gives Tottenham a great opportunity to return to winning ways. But as we’ve witnessed over the years, form goes out of the window in derby clashes and while West Ham have not got the desired results, they have quality players all across the pitch to sting us.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro is Real Madrid’s target for 2025

European champions Real Madrid are planning to add a new right-back to their squad in 2025 and Tottenham Hotspur star Pedro Porro is on their list of targets.

Pedro Porro has been an ever-present figure in the Tottenham backline under Ange Postecoglou since the start of last season. Slowly but steadily, the Spaniard has established himself as one of the best attacking right-backs in the Premier League.

He has arguably been Spurs’ best player in an otherwise mixed start to the 2024/25 season, impressing with his energy, speed, creativity and tactical understanding. Porro’s performances have sparked the interest of Real Madrid, who are light in the right-back position following the season-ending knee injury suffered by Dani Carvajal.

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

However, Tottenham have received some good news regarding their star full-back. According to a report from The Athletic, Real Madrid have made Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold their No.1 target to replace Carvajal next summer.

Spurs fans would have been concerned after Porro revealed during the recent international break that he is ‘proud’ to be linked with a move to Real Madrid. While the five-cap Spanish international remains on Los Blancos’ radar, their priority target is Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool star appears to be the preferred man to succeed Carvajal, and as he has entered the final year of his contract (Transfermarkt) at Anfield, he is free to talk to foreign clubs from January. Alexander-Arnold’s attacking prowess, technical attributes, pace, versatility and consistency make him a strong candidate to reinforce Real’s right-back position. In addition, the Reds’ vice-captain would be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.

On the contrary, Porro has a contract at the Hotspur Way until 2028 (Transfermarkt) and it is likely to take a big investment from the Spanish heavyweights to persuade Spurs into selling one of their prized assets. The aforementioned report adds that should Alexander-Arnold pen a new contract at Liverpool and become out of Real’s reach, only then would they turn their focus to alternative targets which include Porro.

Tottenham backed to sign £835k striker Melia in January 2026

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed a magnificent summer transfer window where Daniel Levy not only brought in some marquee signings but also sold some highly regarded players. However, we have also seen the Lilywhites change their transfer strategy off late, where they look to bring in high-potential young players that can make an impact at White Hart Lane in the long term.

This change in transfer policy saw the club bring in the likes of Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, and Lucas Bergvall at N17, and they are looking to do the same in the 2025 transfer intervals as the chiefs at Hotspur Way aim to create a pipeline of young players who can grow at the club Ange Postecoglou shapes them as per his playing style.

Spurs target young striker Melia

And Spurs are looking to continue the same as they target highly-rated St. Patrick’s Athletic striker Mason Melia, with the North Londoners subject to aggressively pursuing a move for the teenager. And John Wenham, the owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose, expects the player to move to Hotspur Way in January 2026, suggesting that it would be a “complicated” transfer for the Lilywhites to complete.

The Premier League heavyweights are said to have submitted a bid on par with the £835,000 valuation of his current employers per Reptracker, and Wenham hopes that a deal can be agreed.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

“By all accounts, Melia is a very good player. Unfortunately he can’t move until September, which makes things slightly more complicated because the transfer window would have already shut.

“Therefore, all Spurs can do is sign him, and then leave him on loan with St Pat’s until January 2026. However, it does sound like Spurs are pushing ahead. If there are other teams in for him, it would make sense to get the deal done.”

With an interest in another youngster, Spurs will have one of the best group young players in the English top tier.

Tottenham backed to sign Premier League midfielder Ramsey

Tottenham Hotspur had been subject to extensive links to bring Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey to White Hart Lane as Ange Postecoglou looks to compound his options in the middle of the park. However, despite aggressive rumours linking Ramsey to a Spurs transfer, nothing materialised, and he continued at Villa Park.

Daniel Levy’s last reported offer stood was a player-plus-cash deal with Gio Lo Celso going the other way.

Spurs renew interest in Ramsey

While it was not accepted, the North Londoners are looking to grind back into the negotiations in a pursuit to bring him to Hotspur Way. Although it would be a bit of a of a complication this time around as fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Newcastle United have also expressed interest in signing the 23-year-old. (h/t Give Me Sport)

Despite links to other English top-tier sides, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes that the Lilywhites need to keep targeting players such as Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey. He insists how Jacob’s profile can help Ange Postecoglou’s side level up in terms of creativity and dynamism in midfield.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“We’re talking about a top-level player here. Who else are Spurs looking at? Who else could be available? It needs to be this standard of player, this quality of player. They can’t be messing around in the Championship. If they want to be big then they have got to look big.”

“This is a talented player who can continue to develop under Postecoglou. Arsenal and Newcastle are mentioned, if Ramsey is to be sold, his agent will want a bidding war.”

-> International ‘deal’ could hand Tottenham a match-winning edge against West Ham United

There has been a need for a Ramsey-type midfielder since Ange Postecoglou took charge of the reigns at N17, and on a fair part, he did try to bring in quite a few players, but none of the transfers worked out. And now the introduction of Arsenal makes it complicated for Spurs, as, from a sporting point of view, the Gunners would offer a far more compelling and appealing project for Ramsey.

For Tottenham, they will need to prioritise and act fast if they are to land Ramsey as competition intensifies going into the 2025 transfer windows.

Alfie Devine reveals BTS work that Spurs into his development

Tottenham Hotspur have a plethora of talent at their disposal at the moment, and Daniel Levy, along with the chefs at Hotspur Way, have to ensure that all of the players achieve significant strides in their development. And one of the players that has been progressing in the background is Lilywhites Academy graduate Alfie Devine.

The 20-year-old has been highly regarded among the supporters at White Hart Lane, and that has translated into first-team appearances after making a couple of senior appearances in the FA Cup. And while the game time has been difficult to come by in senior football, the club hasn’t backed out of putting their minutes into his development behind the scenes.

Since Arne Postecoglou joined the North Londoners, the player has been sent on loans to Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle as he gains valuable game time in men’s football before being given a run-in at N17. And this season, Daniel Levy chose to send him off to Belgium’s Junior Pro League side KVC Westerlo.

And while a stint in Belgium is just another keystone in his development into the senior side, they are steadily introducing him into the senior side. Alfie has only made four appearances for the Belgian side; they are focused on gradually giving him minutes in the first team, preparing him for a future role in North London.

Tottenham keeping tabs on loanee Alfie Devine

Het Nieuwsblad (via SportWitness) recently spoke to the player about Tottenham and their involvement when he is away on loan, where the player revealed how the Lilywhites performance manager, Andy Scoulding, made a visit to Westerlo to monitor Alefie’s progress on the road.

He said:

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

“Andy Scoulding was recently in Westerlo. After the match, we had a long chat. It’s nice that they follow you so closely. That involvement is motivating. Scoulding is a professional; he has already worked at Rangers, Valencia, Olympiacos, and Liverpool, so he knows what he is talking about. If I need something, they are always there.”

While his current focus lies in Belgium, Alfie has a big future ahead of him, and it is great to see the club going beyond their way to ensure he takes strides in his game.

scout questions Tottenham Hotspur's Mason Melia valuation

Tottenham Hotspur have been interested in signing St. Patrick’s Athletic striker Mason Melia with the North Londoners, subject to aggressive links with the teenager off late.

Daniel Levy is compounding on his transfer strategy to sign highly regarded young players who can be nurtured into their potential at Hotspur Way over time. This saw the Lilywhites spend a significant sum on bringing the likes of Archie Grey, Wilson Odobert, and Lucas Bergvall to White Hart Lane, and Spurs are looking to do the same in the 2025 transfer intervals as the chiefs at the club aim to create a pipeline of young players who can grow at the club and with the club for years to come as Ange Postecoglou shapes them as per his playing style.

Now, the North Londoners are looking to sign St. Patrick’s Athletic striker Mason Melia, who has been highly regarded across Europe.

Spurs considering £835k move for Mason Melia

And former Lilywhites scout Bryan King has expressed his surprise at the fees quoted around for a striker who is yet to prove his credentials despite his expectedly high potential. This comes on the back of reports by reptracker suggesting Tottenham’s interest in the striker, who is valued at £835,000 by his current employers, and a formal deal is expected to be concluded in the coming months.

King does not think that Spurs will have to fork out £835,000 in one lump payment.

-> Tottenham player reflects on time in N17 and opens up on playing European football

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“These are the kind of figures being used all around. There are compensation fees and other things. However, offering that amount of money at this stage seems amazing for an unproven player.

“Therefore, I would have thought a substantially lower figure would have been realistic. That could then include add-ons for his achievements as he progresses with Spurs.

“It is big money for a player his age. However, will it be paid in one payment? Or will it be a payment which is spread over time in line with Melia’s progression with the football club?

“I think it is more likely to be the latter.”

-> Former Spurs scout suggests Tottenham target will leave his current employers

For a club with Tottenham statute, £835,000 is pennies. Moreover, the fact that Mason Melia has the potential to become a highly regarded player makes him an appealing target at White Hart Lane.
