Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an enquiry for the Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.

The 27-year-old has struggled for regular gametime at Chelsea and he needs to move on in search of regular time. According to TBR Football, Tottenham are weighing up a potential move for him this month. It remains to be seen whether they follow up on their interest with an official offer to sign the player.

Chelsea paid a premium for him when they signed the French International, but he has not been able to live up to the expectations since the move to Stamford Bridge. The player has scored 16 goals for Chelsea since joining the club and he has picked up four assists as well.

The Blues expected better numbers from him when they signed him. He was a prolific attacker during his time in the Bundesliga, but he has not been able to hit top form in the Premier League. Perhaps a fresh start would be ideal for him. The opportunity to play regularly at Tottenham could be an attractive option for the player. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

He is capable of operating as a striker as well as a wide player. His versatility will be a bonus for Tottenham if they can get the deal across the line. He has been linked with Manchester United as well.

Can Spurs sign Nkunku for a reasonable price?

Chelsea will look to recoup most of the £52 million paid for him, but it seems unlikely that any club would be willing to sell out a premium for him, given his performances since the move to English football.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Manchester City attacker James McAtee as well. The 22-year-old is on their radar and they have enquired about a potential move for him as well. It remains to be seen who they end up signing.

According to Premier Injuries, Spurs have 10 players out at the moment – Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson, Djed Spence and Radu Dragusin – which is the most of any team in the English top-flight.

Although Mathys Tel declined Spurs’ offer, Noah Okafor has been offered to the club and there is still time to get various deals done.

Tottenham want Axel Disasi from Chelsea and, according to Sky Sports, the Premier League club are in advanced talks with AC Milan to try and land Fikayo Tomori.

The 27-year-old former England international would appear to be surplus to requirements at the Serie A giants, with Fabrizio Romano, writing on X, suggesting that they are pushing to get the sale done.

That would indicate that they can’t wait for him to leave and that doesn’t bode well for Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou has limited defensive options at this point

What Postecoglou needs now is quality in all areas of his squad, in order for the Tottenham to start moving back up towards the European places.

Whether Tomori is the right fit for the club will only be seen over the course of the next few days – assuming a deal is done in time.

Unfortunately for Spurs beggars can’t be choosers given the situation they’re in, and even if it’s a gamble to bring Tomori back to the Premier League, the options for the North Londoners are limited.

The defender came on for Micky van de Ven at half-time in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Elfsborg, which secured Spurs a spot in the Europa League top eight.

However, Dragusin was forced to leave the pitch just 20 minutes later after an awkward landing on his knee, and he is currently being assessed.

Although Postecoglou is still uncertain about the extent of the injury, Dragusin will not be part of the squad for this weekend’s game.

Mikey Moore helped Tottenham to secure a much-needed Europa League win against Elfsborg, and he made history in the process.

Poor recent results have seen Ange Postecoglou potentially heading for the sack, so the victory will have restored confidence at the very least.

Furthermore, a Tottenham bid for Mathys Tel would suggest that, in fact, Daniel Levy retains full confidence in his manager.

As the winter transfer window nears its deadline, Crystal Palace are actively exploring options to strengthen their squad, with Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards emerging as a prime target.

According to A Bola (via Sport Witness), Sporting CP are eager to part ways with Edwards following a string of disciplinary issues. The Portuguese club, once valuing the winger highly, is now reportedly open to offers as low as €8 million, a significant drop in his market value.

A product of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, Edwards was once seen as one of England’s most promising young talents, drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi from former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino due to his exceptional dribbling ability.

Despite his potential, injuries and a lack of first-team opportunities saw him leave Spurs permanently in 2019, joining Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal. Spurs’ sell-on clause could give club a financial boost

If Palace (or any other club) secure Edwards on a permanent deal, Tottenham stand to benefit financially, as they hold a 35% sell-on clause from his transfer to Sporting. Which means, the club could pocket a significant percentage of any transfer fee Sporting receive.

Crystal Palace aren’t alone in their pursuit. Everton are also reportedly considering a move for Edwards as they look to bolster their attacking options.

For Palace, signing Edwards could be a shrewd move, providing manager Oliver Glasner with a versatile attacker capable of operating on either flank.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that MLS club New York Red Bulls have held talks over signing Tottenham forward Timo Werner.

The Germany international is currently on loan at Spurs from RB Leipzig, and it seems that deal could be terminated in order to allow the player to make the move to the US.

Werner has struggled during his time on loan at Tottenham, just as he also previously flopped in another spell in the Premier League with Chelsea.

Timo Werner has flopped at Tottenham and the time looks right for him to leave

Spurs fans surely won’t be too disappointed to see Werner go, with the former Chelsea man undoubtedly struggling badly during his time in north London.

THFC need to be aiming higher than this, so if they offload Werner this January perhaps that can give Ange Postecoglou some room to strengthen his squad with a new signing in attack.

Spurs have often found themselves a little overly reliant on Son Heung-min to provide that spark up front, but it’s probably not sustainable to carry on like that without giving their star player more support.

The likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson have had some good moments, but it’s been a pretty inconsistent campaign overall from pretty much everyone at the club.

Werner certainly doesn’t look good enough, so Tottenham would do well to bring his time at the club to an end and to try to bring in an upgrade if possible.

“They are in for a forward, but I understand Brobbey is not that forward.”

They have had multiple injury problems and it is no surprise that are desperate for signings. They have had a disappointing season as well and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly during the second half of the season. They will need quality signings in order to do that.

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke for a substantial amount of money in the summer, but they need another attacker who can share the goal-scoring burden with the England international. Brobbey has been underwhelming for the Dutch outfit this season and he is unlikely to improve Tottenham immensely. Brobbey has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past.

Spurs need a quality attacker

The North London outfit needs to bring in a dynamic attacker who is capable of slotting anywhere across the front three. It will be interesting to see if they can bring in the right additions before the January transfer window closes.

Solanke is currently sidelined with an injury and Tottenham are lacking in cutting edge in the final third. Signing a quality striker should be a priority for them before the window closes. They should look to invest in the defensive unit as well.
