Harry Kane has labelled his move to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur last summer as ‘one of the best decisions of his life’.

After rising through the ranks to become Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer, netting 280 times in 435 appearances across all competitions, Kane finally departed the club in search of major trophies.

Unfortunately for Kane, Bayern suffered one of their worst seasons in recent memory upon his arrival, slumping to third in the Bundesliga and failing to win a trophy of any kind for the first time since 2011/12.

But on a personal level, Kane did not relent, helping himself to 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. His 36 Bundesliga strikes were enough to earn him the European Golden Shoe award, finishing clear of the likes of Serhou Guirassy (28), Kylian Mbappe (27) and Erling Haaland (27).

Harry Kane: Joining Bayern one of my best decisions

Despite not yet adding a trophy to his considerable list of individual achievements, Kane has no regrets over his decision to swap Spurs for Bayern.

“It’s really special. Obviously it was a big step in my career to come to FC Bayern,” Kane said while accepting his Golden Shoe award (via talkSPORT).

“It was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I’m enjoying every moment of it so far.”

Bayern have made a positive start to the new season, thrashing second-tier side SSV Ulm 4-0 in the DFB-Pokal before coming from behind to beat Wolfsburg 3-2 in the Bundesliga — Kane registering a goal in the former and two assists in the latter.

England’s record goalscorer is looking forward to the season ahead and is ‘excited’ by the ‘new energy’ building at Bayern under Vincent Kompany.

“I’m excited for this season especially, obviously we got off to a good start on Sunday,” Kane added. “There’s a new energy in the building, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season.”

Up next for Bayern is a home tie against Freiburg on Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou has called upon Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma to become more ‘disciplined’ in order to reach his full potential.

Bissouma scored a thunderous opener in Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Everton on Saturday, finally opening his account in his 57th appearance for the club.

The former Brighton midfielder was impressive throughout his 73 minutes on the pitch, completing 92% of his passes — including 10 into the final third — while making two tackles, one clearance and one interception.

However, it hasn’t been easy at Spurs for Bissouma, who was sent off twice in 28 Premier League appearances last season while picking up a further eight yellow cards.

Spurs boss Postecoglou reacts to Bissouma performance vs Everton

Speaking to reporters after Saturday’s win over the Toffees, Postecoglou hailed the performance of Bissouma, but also urged the midfielder to continue adding more ‘discipline’ to his game.

“Yeah, Biss was good and we know Biss is a good footballer,” said Postecoglou (via Tottenham’s official website).

“It’s about him being the best version of himself and he will only get there if, as we’ve spoken a few times, discipline is a big thing for him and I thought it was a disciplined performance for him today you know.

“Not just the goal he scored, but he had a really important job for us. He knew they’d sort of play fairly direct and he had to be there to mop up second balls and intercept things and he was clean for the most part in possession. So, good performance.”

James Maddison has labelled Yves Bissouma a “ridiculous player” at times following Tottenham’s win against Everton.

Spurs bounced back from a disappointing draw against Leicester on Monday night to record a comfortable 4-0 win with Son Heung-min scoring a brace, whilst Bissouma and Cristian Romero also found the back of the net.

It’s a big season for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they look to qualify for the Champions League and try and end the club’s trophy drought.

Maddison praises Bissouma

After missing the opening game of the season against Leicester for disciplinary issues Bissouma was restored to the starting line-up and needed to put in an impressive performance for his manager.

The midfielder did exactly that as he opened the scoring inside the first 15 minutes with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box.

After the game Maddison was full of praise for the 27-year-old labelling him a “ridiculous player” at times and urged him to keep working hard.

“We all know Yves’ [Bissouma] ability, he is a ridiculous player at times,” he told Sky Sports.

“He has got a skill not many have. The gaffer is a great man with good morals. He [Yves] has to keep working hard.

“The performance was there on Monday. It was a case of not putting our chances away. It’s important you try and put into practice what the manager wants. It’s about us trusting him.”

Bissouma, who joined Spurs from Brighton in 2022 has two years left on his current deal and is expected to play a key role in the middle of the park for Postecoglou this season.

The Mali international has made 56 appearances for the club and Spurs will be hoping for more performances like the one against Everton throughout the season.

Next up for Bissouma and his team-mates is a trip to Newcastle next Sunday where Spurs have struggled in recent seasons.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

The 22-year-old has attracted the attention of the north London club with his performances in the Championship and Tottenham are keen on securing his signature.

However, a report from Give Me Sport claims that Middlesbrough do not want to sanction his departure at this stage of the window and Tottenham might have to wait for another opportunity in the near future.

The report further adds that Tottenham are willing to be patient in their pursuit of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Hackney is highly rated across England and he has a bright future. He could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the long term. The north London club sanctioned the departure of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg earlier this summer and Hackney could be a replacement for the Denmark international.

Tottenham are already lacking in depth when it comes to the midfield department and signing the Middlesbrough player could be a wise investment. The 22-year-old is likely to improve with coaching and experience and he could develop into a key player for the club.

The report from Give Me Sport claims that the midfielder could be available for £25 million this summer. Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done and it remains to be seen whether they are ready to pay up.

Tottenham move would be ideal for Hayden Hackney

Hackney certainly has the quality and the potential to justify the investment in the coming seasons.

The opportunity to join Tottenham will be quite attractive for him. They have an exciting project and a quality squad. They will be hoping to compete in Europe regularly and push for domestic trophies as well. The 22-year-old will certainly be tempted to join them.

Tottenham have shown great improvement under Ange Postecoglou so far and the Australian could play a key role in the development of the Middlesbrough midfielder as well.

The 22-year-old will certainly be attracted to the idea of competing in the English top flight and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can finalise an agreement soon.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ashley Phillips could leave the club on a season-long loan.

The North London club have been quite active in the ongoing transfer window. They have added some exceptionally talented young players to their squad and have brought in a new star striker in Dominic Solanke. Apart from the incomings, Spurs are also looking to ensure that young players who might not get enough game time at the club are sent out on loan.

According to a report from The Athletic, Ashley Phillips could be on his way out for another loan spell away from Tottenham with Stoke City pushing hard for his services. They are in advanced talks with the North London club and if all goes according to plan, the teenage defensive sensation could be seen playing in the Championship next season.

Phillips came up the ranks at Blackburn and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before making the move to Tottenham last summer. The English youth international penned down a five-year deal with the North London club.

Ashley Phillips needs to play more often

Spurs acquired his services with an eye on the future. During the first half of last season, he made a few appearances for their Under-21 team before being sent out on loan to Plymouth Argyle for the second half of the 2023/24 campaign. He featured in a total of 20 matches, 18 of his appearances came in the Championship as he helped them survive relegation.

While he has returned to his parent club, he is unlikely to get any first-team action at the North London club. As a result, Spurs seem ready to sanction his departure and Stoke are in advanced talks with them to sign the teenager on a temporary basis. It could be a perfect opportunity for the youngster to continue his development and at the same time, Stoke will get their hands on an incredible young talent.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso reportedly wants to leave the North London club before the summer transfer window closes.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are preparing for their opening contest of the new Premier League season as they face newly promoted Leicester City on Monday night.

Spurs fans will be quietly confident about the upcoming campaign after the arrival of Archie Gray and Dominic Solanke over the past few weeks who can hopefully plug some holes in their squad.

But the Australian manager has also opted to get some names off the books with several players departing the club with Oliver Skipp looking set to join Leicester City.

According to Fabrizio Romano on the Daily Briefing, there is another midfielder who wants to leave the club, Lo Celso, with the Argentine international struggling to garner any meaningful minutes over the past season.

“Aston Villa and Real Betis are interested but there could be more clubs, it’s an open situation with these two clubs leading the race,” he said on the Daily Briefing.

“But it’s really open and there could be surprises. For sure, Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham and his plan is clear.”

The 28-year-old joined the club from Real Betis in 2019 and has spent several seasons on loan back in La Liga after struggling to find his form in England.

Tottenham could provide him with the opportunity he needs.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Norwegian youth international Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

The 18-year-old midfielder has impressed with Tromso and HITC claims that his performances have caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa as well.

Hjerto-Dahl can operate as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. He could be the ideal long-term acquisition for Liverpool who are in need of midfield reinforcements. Wataru Endo is the only defensive midfielder at the club and the Tromso prospect would be his long-term replacement.

A move to Liverpool could be an exciting opportunity for the young midfielder. He will look to continue his development with ample first-team action at the Premier League club and Liverpool have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players like him.

Liverpool will be hoping to challenge for league titles in the upcoming seasons and they need a quality squad at their disposal. They will need adequate depth in every position and signing a talented, young defensive midfielder could prove to be a wise decision.

Tottenham and Aston Villa want Jens Hjerto-Dahl

Giovani Lo Celso: Unai Emery pushing to sign Spurs midfielder

Aston Villa have been one of the busiest Premier League teams throughout the summer transfer window.

The Villains have signed eight first team players with Amadou Onana topping the list after the Belgian joined from Everton for a reported £50 million fee earlier in the window.

However, despite splashing out well over £100 million on talent already, the team from the Midlands, according to Fichajes, are on the hunt for one more addition, and have identified Spurs’ Giovani Lo Celso as a player capable of ‘perfectly fitting’ into Unai Emery’s system.

Aston Villa in three-way race to sign Giovani Lo Celso

Emery knows the Argentine well from their time together at both Villarreal and PSG and is keen to be reunited with him for a third time at Villa Park.

Lo Celso, 28, has just one year left on his contract with Spurs and is thought to be available for transfer should the Lilywhites’ £13 million asking price be met.

And although Roma and Real Betis are also tracking the South American, the lure of Champions League football under Emery could be too tempting to turn down, and that fact alone makes the Villains strong contenders to seal the 28-year-old’s signature.

During his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Lo Celso, who has represented Argentina on 57 occasions, has directly contributed to 18 goals in 108 games in all competitions.
