According to Football Insider, Sergio Reguilon is destined for an exit from Tottenham over the next week as Tottenham and other La Liga clubs circle over the left-back.

Sergio Reguilon is certain to leave Spurs

The report backs up what we have already heard from various sources regarding Reguilon’s future, making it clear that the Spaniard is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Spurs.

With the 27-year-old having just one year left on his contract, Spurs are said to be keen on cashing in on him over the coming days.

Reguilon is expected to be available on a ‘cut-price deal’ before the transfer deadline, with Barca thought to be eyeing a deal for the former Real Madrid man.

Barcelona are looking at Reguilon

It is explained that the Catalan giants are keen on signing a new left-back to serve as Alejandro Balde’s understudy after Marcos Alonso’s departure from Camp Nou, with the Tottenham man said to fit the bill.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the La Liga giants are not expected to have a free run at Reguilon, with a number of Spanish clubs thought to be keeping an eye on the defender’s situation in the final days of the transfer window.

The transfer window shuts on August 30 for La Liga clubs, meaning Reguilon will have to leave in the next five days if he wants a move back to Spain.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that Reguilon and Lo Celso will both be out of the door before the window shuts.

However, with just days left in the window, it is still unclear where the Spaniard and the Argentine will end up.

According to HITC, Tottenham Hotspur are one of several clubs interested in Lens starlet Andy Diouf, who is turning many heads across the continent.

Tottenham make midfield changes

Tottenham have made some significant changes in the middle of the park this summer, offloading Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this window while Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have arrived through the door.

Spurs also have the likes of Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison already in their ranks.

It remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites will be making any more additions to their midfield over the next week but HITC now claim that the club have their sights on Diouf.

Spurs send scouts to watch Andy Diouf

The report claims that Tottenham sent scouts to watch the energetic midfielder in action in Lens’ Europa Conference League qualifier against Panathinaikos on Thursday.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, they were not the only ones present, with representatives from Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Brighton also thought to be at the venue to watch the youngster in action.

The publication adds that all of the aforementioned clubs consider the France Under-21 international to be a player with huge potential.

Spurs Web Opinion

The links to Hayden Hackey and Andy Diouf make a lot of sense, with both players being the right profile for Spurs.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham bring a number eight through the door before the window slams shut.

Report: Spurs willing to offer £25m for defender in the coming days

Description

According to L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to make a late offer to sign Monaco defender Vanderson as the transfer deadline draws closer.

The right-backs of Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are well stocked at right-back at the moment, with Djed Spence looking set to serve as Pedro Porro’s understudy, while new signing Archie Gray can also operate in the position.

However, the speculation linking Vanderson with a late switch to Spurs refuses to go away as we enter the final week of the transfer window.

L’Equipe are the latest outlet to report on the matter, stating that Ange Postecoglou’s men ‘would be ready’ to pay €30m (£25.4m) for the Brazilian.

Tottenham could make a move for Vanderson

The report alleges that Vanderson’s future at the Louis II Stadium remains in doubt as Tottenham continue to circle over him.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is pointed out that the 23-year-old is contracted to Monaco until 2028 but the club’s President Dmitry Rybolovlev ‘rarely refuses’ such big offers.

The publication thus suggests that a late switch to North London is still very much on the cards for Vanderson.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are much more likely to sign cover at centre-back or left-back than at right-back, with Postecoglou well-stocked with options on the right side of defence.

An offer for Vanderson would thus make little sense unless Ange views him as an option for the left-back role.

Description

It was a great performance all round from Tottenham Hotspur today in the win against Everton, but Spurs fans will be particularly excited to have seen new signing, Wilson Odobert, in action on the wing. Speaking after the game, Ange Postecoglou hailed his player as an ‘exciting’ addition to the squad.

A promising start from Odobert

Spurs shocked the footballing world when they made the signing of Odobert seemingly out of nowhere on August 16. Just over a week later and the young Frenchman has now made his debut for the club.

Odobert played just over 65 minutes, starting the game on the left wing for Postecoglou. The youngster did not look fazed at all, either, dazzling with a number of dangerous runs and putting enticing balls into the box.

It was a good start from the 19-year-old, who proved he was more than ready for the step up after joining from Championship side Burnley, and he appeared set to pick up where he left off for the Clarets last season.

Speaking to the press after the game (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about Odobert’s debut and he seemed happy with the new boy.

He said: “Exciting. He gives us something different from our other wingers. He’s only 19-year-old and it’s his debut here in front of 60,000 fans.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Odobert stands out on his debut

Some players may have been daunted by the occasion today at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Odobert looked more than comfortable slotting into this Spurs team, and clearly enjoyed taking players on, causing all sorts of problems for Everton.

It remains to be seen whether he did enough to keep that starting spot for the next game, an away trip to Newcastle United next Sunday.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was really impressed by Odobert today. I thought it may take him some time to settle in here but he jumped straight in and pulled out a really tantalising performance. He looks brave and has great dribbling skills, and I feel he is going to provide lots of assists as the season goes on.

Description

According to TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur have watched Hayden Hackney closely in his first two Championship games of the season, with the North London side now said to be considering a late move for the Middlesbrough man.

Tottenham have been watching Hayden Hackney

Hackney has been a regular in the Boro midfield over the last couple of years and the versatile midfielder, who can operate as a six as well in a box-to-box role, is now widely viewed as one of the most promising young players in the Championship.

It was reported by The Northern Echo back in May that Spurs have had a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old and could potentially make a move for him before the end of the window.

TBR Football have now alleged that Tottenham’s scouts have watched Hackney in action in Boro’s first two league games of the season against Swansea and Derby County.

A late move on the cards for Hackney?

The report claims that the Lilywhites are on the lookout for a homegrown number six who can improve their midfield immediately, with the Championship star said to fit the bill.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, it is made clear that Spurs are not the only ones after Hackney, with Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United also said to have their eye on the player.

The publication adds that Boro boss Michael Carrick is also determined not to lose the youngster at this stage of the window.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hackey would be another one of those signings that some Spurs fans would be unimpressed by but would be an excellent fit for Tottenham’s project and Postecoglou’s system.

The 22-year-old is more mature and experienced than the likes of Gray and Bergvall, and looks ready to be a regular starter at Premier League level.

Guardiola makes claim about Spurs under Ange

Description

Pep Guardiola expects the Premier League title race to be hotly contested this season, naming Tottenham Hotspur as one of the teams that he expects to push his side.

Postecoglou wants to push for the title

Ange Postecoglou has not been shy of announcing his intention to challenge the best sides in the division but on the evidence of Tottenham’s performance against Leicester, his team have their work cut out.

While there were a lot of positives to take from Spurs’ showing, given the way they utterly dominated proceedings for large parts of the encounter, we saw little to suggest that they have overcome the problems which plagued them last season.

Tottenham were once again wasteful in front of goal and lacked defensive control, looking susceptible whenever they lost the ball in the middle third during the second half.

Pep expects Spurs to compete at the very top

However, Guardiola certainly thinks that Spurs will be a force this season, insisting that the way they play under Postecoglou will see them pick up consistent results.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Manchester City boss named a lot of teams as potential title challengers but Tottenham was the side he named second in his list following Arsenal.

Watch what Guardiola told Men in Blazers:

Spurs Web Opinion

While there is certainly an element of Guardiola just trying to be humble and respectful to his opponents, the fact that he mentions Tottenham after Arsenal and ahead of Liverpool suggests that he does look at the Lilywhites as a potential outside contender for the title.

old starlet has joined Stoke City on loan

Ashley Phillips has become the latest young player to leave Tottenham Hotspur on loan, with the club confirming that the centre-back has completed a temporary move to Stoke City.

Ashley Phillips did well at Plymouth last season

Phillips arrived at Tottenham from Blackburn Rovers a year ago on the back of a breakthrough year at Ewood Park in 2022-23.

The centre-back is still waiting for his senior Spurs debut but he did turn a lot of heads with his performances on loan at Plymouth Argyle last season.

He played a crucial role in helping the club preserve their Championship status by the skin of their teeth, even being voted the club’s Player of the Year.

Ashley Phillips joins Stoke City on loan

The 19-year-old did not get too many opportunities to impress during pre-season and he was unlikely to get much game time had he stayed at Spurs, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies ahead of him in the pecking order.

Phillips has thus been loaned out to Stoke City and the centre-back will be hoping to get regular football under his belt and catch the eyes of the coaches at Hotspur Way.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Ange and his coaches do not see Phillips as someone who has all the attributes they are looking for in a centre-back right now.

Tottenham might even potentially cash in on the teenager next summer if he has a decent season out on loan, unless he develops the kind of attributes Postecoglou needs during this loan spell, of course.

Report: Spurs want to sign Wolves star late in the transfer window

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer spending may not be over just yet, as the club is thought to be keen on signing another midfielder before the end of the transfer window later this month.

Postecoglou wants more midfield options

Spurs have already brought in Archie Gray this summer, while Lucas Bergvall has joined the squad after signing in January.

The two teenagers have effectively replaced Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp, who have joined Marseille and Leicester City, respectively, this summer.

But it seems Postecoglou wants more cover in the middle of the park, especially in light of the injury suffered by Rodrigo Bentancur in the Lilywhites’ first league game of the season on Monday night.

That’s according to a report from GiveMeSport, with a claim that Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes will be targeted in the next week or so by Spurs.

It is thought Spurs are looking at completing a move for Gomes late in the window, as the club continues to identify areas for improvement in the squad, with Daniel Levy and Johan Lange leading the recruitment process.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Apparently, Gomes is firmly on Tottenham’s radar as he matches the profile of an “energetic midfielder who is capable of breaking forward” that Postecoglou is looking for.

The report states Wolves would not want to sell Gomes, but Spurs are ready to test the waters in the near future.

Gomes could be the man for Spurs

Speculation linking Gomes to Spurs has intensified of late, with rumours the two clubs can strike a deal for around £50m.

According to WhoScored, Gomes would be the perfect addition to the Spurs midfield, too. Gomes has made more tackles (130) than any other player in the Premier League since the start of last season, and would offer the Lilywhites that ball-winning ability they need.

Spurs Web Opinion

I really like Joao Gomes. I think he’s got a bit of everything that we want: he can win the ball, he can drive forward with it, he can pop up with goals, and he’s got bags of energy, too. I’d be very happy if we added him to our squad this summer.

Report: Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have changed Tottenham's transfer plans

Description

The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick has said that Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to enter the market for a number six despite the impending exit of Oliver Skipp.

Oliver Skipp is set to join Leicester City

Kilpatrick says that Skipp is officially expected to complete his proposed switch to the King Power Stadium today ahead of the showdown between Spurs and Leicester City.

The 23-year-old has reportedly passed his medical after the two clubs agreed with a deal worth £25m including add-ons.

Kilpatrick alleges that despite Skipp’s departure, Tottenham do not intend to sign another defensive midfielder before the end of this month.

Gray and Bergvall have impressed at Spurs

New signing Archie Gray is expected to take the place of the Tottenham academy graduate in the squad, with Ange Postecolgou said to have been impressed by the former Leeds man as well as Lucas Bergvall during pre-season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, The Standard journalist adds that Gray is even in line to make his debut this evening against the Foxes since Yves Bissouma is serving his one-match suspension.

Therefore, it appears that Spurs may cash in on Oliver Skipp without needing to sign another midfielder reinforcement this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham might not want another number six with Gray, Bissouma and Bentancur capable of playing in that role but they would likely want to add another box-to-box number eight to their squad before the transfer deadline.

Even though Bergvall has looked very promising, Postecoglou will likely use him as a number ten in rotation with Maddison this season before potentially moving him to a deeper midfield role once he matures.

Description

Football Insider claim that Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to keep an eye on Conor Gallagher but Atletico Madrid remain the favourites to get a deal for the midfielder over the line before the transfer deadline.

Tottenham like Conor Gallagher

Spurs have made some astute signings so far this summer but it has been widely reported that the Lilywhites still want to bring an all-action midfielder through the door before the window shuts (GiveMeSport).

Postecoglou currently has the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and James Maddison to choose from in midfield.

Gallagher’s proposed move to Atletico hit a roadblock last week, with the player now back in London and that has generated rumours that Tottenham could re-ignite their pursuit of the 24-year-old (ESPN).

Gallagher signing is unlikely for Spurs

Football Insider have now also reported that Spurs are continuing to keep tabs on Gallagher’s situation as we enter the dying stages of the transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, they claim that Ange Postecoglou ‘would love’ to bring the England international through the door before the end of the month.

However, the publication points out that the chances of Tottenham and Chelsea agreeing on a deal for Gallagher are slim, with Atletico still favourites to land the midfielder once they offload Joao Felix.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Postecoglou would be as keen on Gallagher as he was earlier this summer. We know that the Australian only wants players who are really keen to come to Tottenham.

The fact that the midfielder chose Atletico over Spurs might have convinced the 58-year-old to look at other alternatives instead.
