Football Insider report that Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of cashing in on Yves Bissouma despite the fact that the club has suspended the midfielder.

Yves Bissouma’s controversial social media incident

A video was posted on social media by Bissouma in which the Tottenham man was seen inhaling laughing gas from a balloon, a substance which is illegal to consume in the UK.

The 27-year-old apologised for his conduct, stating that it shows a ‘severe lack of judgement’ while Spurs confirmed that they are dealing with the issue as an ‘internal matter’ (The Sun).

Ange Postecoglou announced today that Tottenham have suspended Bissouma for the first match of the season against Leicester City as a punishment (Football London).

Bissouma had played a part in every single one of Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bissouma will not be sold by Spurs

Football Insider have now revealed that Ange Postecoglou does not have any plans of freezing Bissouma out of his squad completely despite his mistake.

In fact, it is alleged that the player is seen as a ‘key’ part of his set-up by the manager and is expected to have a regular starting role for the upcoming campaign.

The publication adds that Postecoglou is of the belief that Bissouma is ‘perfect’ for his high-intensity style of play, with the former Brighton man’s ability to win back the ball and recycle possession being highly valued by the Spurs boss.

Speaking about the incident and suspension today, Postecoglou said (Football London): “I’ve been in the game for a long time, when a situation like this arises, I’ve tried to look at them in a couple of ways. First, there’s a person and it’s Biss and he’s made a poor decision.

“There are still sanctions involved, and some of those are educational. He is a footballer with responsibilities.

“He won’t be available on Monday. We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game. He needs to build that trust back with both me and the group. The door is open for him and we can help him realise the decisions he makes impact the group.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Ange would have not been happy with what Bissouma did and would have given him a clear telling-off and a warning.

The pair share a good relationship and one would expect the Malian to learn from his mistake.

Pundit is convinced Spurs will look to hijack £34.5m deal before the window closes

Alan Hutton believes that Tottenham Hotspur will now be looking into the possibility of swooping for Conor Gallagher after the midfielder’s proposed move to Atletico Madrid hit a major roadblock.

Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid hits a roadblock

Until a few days ago, it seemed only a matter of time before Gallagher completed a switch to Atletico after the La Liga club struck a £34.5m agreement with Chelsea.

However, the move reportedly hit a hiccup in the final stages after the midfielder passed a medical at the Spanish capital, with the player now being forced to return to London (BBC Sport).

This is because Samu Omorodion’s proposed move to Chelsea collapsed due to disagreements over personal terms, thus meaning that the Spanish club would have to cash in on another one of their players to fund the operation (Guardian).

It has also emerged over recent hours that the West London club have now started offering Gallagher to various Premier League sides, with Newcastle allegedly waiting in the wings to pounce (CaughtOffside via Football Transfers).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Could Spurs hijack Conor Gallagher deal?

Hutton believes that Tottenham too will be considering a potential move for an England international, pointing out that these are the types of deals where Daniel Levy comes into his own.

The former Spurs right-back told Football Insider: “It’s one I think they’ll be monitoring. I think Gallagher comes into that team and he probably does start.

“Bissouma, I wasn’t so sure about him last season, in flashes he did really well and we’ve seen that he is capable but can they get someone in there that offers a little bit more? Hojbjerg has left so there is an option to try and bring somebody in.

“I’m pretty sure they’ll be monitoring it and seeing how this is going to play out over the next couple of weeks.

“By all accounts, Gallagher might not be in Chelsea’s plans moving forward so there might be a deal to be had and that’s something I think Daniel Levy would like.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like Gallagher initially rejected Tottenham’s advances in favour of a switch to Atletico.

We know that Ange only wants players who are really keen to come to Spurs, which is why the Australian might decide against re-entering the race for the midfielder.

It has been a big day for Jamie Donley, with the young midfielder heading out on loan to League One side Leyton Orient, and putting pen to paper on a new Spurs contract. Now, we know how long that new deal will last.

Four more years of Jamie Donley

Alasdair Gold revealed the news of Donley‘s situation on Thursday, August 15, tweeting that the Spurs youngster was set for a switch to Leyton Orient where he will get ‘plenty of minutes’. Gold also mentioned Donley was to be given a new contract with the Lilywhites.

Now, in an exchange on social media, Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe has confirmed the contract has been agreed, and how long it will run for.

O’Keefe tweeted: “It’s already signed. New improved longer deal.” And, replying to a fan asking about the contract length, he added: “4 years. 2028.”

His previous deal ran to 2027, so the 19-year-old has added an extra year on his contract and earned himself better terms.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Donley was a wanted man

After breaking into Tottenham’s first-team last season under Ange Postecoglou, Donley has continued to impress in pre-season. He even filled in at left-back with aplomb, despite being an attacking midfielder by trade.

It was revealed earlier this week that, instead of sticking around the senior squad this season, Donley would be given the chance to move out on loan and gain valuable experience (Standard).

Donley had previously been linked with a temporary move to Birmingham City, before the switch to Leyton Orient came through (Tom Barclay).

Spurs Web Opinion

Delighted for Donley to get this new deal and to seal an exciting loan move for the season.

He should be able to absolutely smash it in League One and I would assume he will start most weeks for Leyton Orient. I can’t wait to see how he gets on, and it’s good that we’ve locked him in for another year, too.

Dominic Solanke is now a Spurs player, and after seeing what he can do in training, it sounds like Ange Postecoglou is very happy with his new signing.

Solanke is settling in at Spurs

It is now approaching a week since Tottenham secured the signing of Solanke from Bournemouth in a reported £65m deal (Sky Sports).

While Spurs fans are eager to see their new striker in action on the pitch, Postecoglou has been seeing what Solanke can do on the training ground, and he is clearly pleased with what he’s witnessed so far.

Speaking to the press (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked about Solanke’s first week at the club and said: “Thankfully, it’s what we expected. He’s a top pro, a good guy, and he’s settled into the dressing room really well. Football wise, you can see he has the attributes and that he’s going to fit in.

“There’s still an adjustment period obviously, because we play and train differently, and we see that with every new signing. So far he’s fitted in really well with the group in training. There are a couple of sessions to go, but so far so good.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Is Solanke the key to Spurs success?

This all comes on the back of plenty of positivity surrounding Solanke’s switch to Spurs this week, with current players, pundits, and even his old manager praising the striker.

Spurs skipper, Heung-min Son, described Solanke as a ‘huge signing’ and said he expects the 26-year-old will be able to help the team achieve success (Standard).

Bournemouth boss, Andoni Iraola, also praised Solanke for his behaviour at the club and commended his professionalism (Football.London).

Solanke himself has been very clear in his first interview with the club about how ambitious he is, and that he expects his ‘fighting spirit’ to contribute towards helping Spurs win something.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m hoping Solanke goes straight into the starting lineup for the game against Leicester on Monday, and I fancy him to get a goal on his debut if he does play, too.

Description

Ange Postecoglou has provided a team news update ahead of Monday’s match against Leicester City during this afternoon’s press conference at Hotspur Way.

The Premier League is back

Tottenham have a little longer to wait than most other clubs when the Premier League returns this weekend with the North Londoners allocated the Monday Night Football slot at the King Power Stadium.

Having narrowly missed out on the Champions League last season, Postecoglou will be keen for his side to begin the campaign with a victory over Premier League newcomers, Leicester City.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs first-team squad ahead of the clash against Steve Cooper’s side.

Fraser Forster and Richarlison are both surprisingly available having not appeared in any of Tottenham’s pre-season fixtures.

Postecoglou provides Spurs team news update vs Leicester

Postecoglou told the official Spurs site: “Knock on wood, at the moment, everyone’s training.

“Obviously, players like Richy and Fraser are the last two into the training group so they’ve had a good week of training but no game time. They are training which is the main thing and everyone seems to be in good condition.

Leicester vs Tottenham is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off time on Monday 19 August 2024 with the game set to be broadcast on Sky Sports.

SpursWeb Opinion

Last season, Tottenham came flying out of the blocks in the first few matches, only for injuries to key players to derail their campaign.

Hopefully, the main stars in the squad can avoid lengthy spells on the sidelines and the club also look to bring in at least two more quality additions during the current window.

Description

Fabrizio Romano reveals that Bournemouth have won the race for Porto striker Evanilson, despite the likes of Tottenham, Man United and Liverpool being linked recently.

Who is Evanilson?

Evanlison had a breakout 2023-24 season for Porto, finding the back of the net 27 times across all competitions for the Portuguese giants (Transfermarkt).

The Brazilian was said to be sought after across the Premier League, with HITC claiming that Spurs, Man Utd, Newcastle and Liverpool had all spoken to the player’s agent over recent weeks.

However, it was explained that Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest were the only ones to formalise their interest to Porto, with the Cherries thought to be eyeing the centre-forward as a potential replacement for Dominic Solanke.

This is not the first time that Evanilson has been mooted as a target for Spurs with GiveMeSport revealing back in May that Ange Postecoglou is a big admirer of the 24-year-old and was keen on bringing the player to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bournemouth win the race for Evanilson

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Bournemouth have won the race for Evanilson, reaching a €47m deal with Porto for the striker.

He tweeted: ‘Bournemouth agree deal to sign Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto, here we go! Deal in place for package worth €47m for Brazilian forward to be the replacement for Solanke. Porto also has a 10% sell-on clause. Medical tests booked, Evanilson travels soon.’

Spurs Web Opinion

Postecoglou has confirmed that he has no intention of offloading Richarlison and that the Brazilian will compete with Dominic Solanke for the centre-forward role.

That statement should put an end to the transfer rumours linking various other strikers with a late move to Spurs.

Heung-min Son is the Tottenham Hotspur captain, he’s one of the club’s all-time leading goalscorers, and he’s beloved by fans around the world. But is he a Spurs legend?

Son has one goal in mind

The man himself has been thinking about that very question, and admits he still has something he needs to do before he can ever be called a legend at the club.

Speaking to Men In Blazers, Son touched on his legacy, saying: “There is only one thing in my mind, so it is easy to answer. I want to win. I want to win a trophy.

“A trophy to bring success to the team, especially when you are captain and win a trophy, it means something very, very special to me and also to my family, the club, and the squad.

“I will do anything for this. I am not calling myself a legend at this club right now. I want to win something.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Room for improvement

Son may be regarded as one of the best players in the Premier League, if not the world, but he thinks he still needs to work on his game.

He added: “I need to work on every aspect of my game. As a footballer, there are only a few cases of a perfect player – Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo. I can improve every aspect. Every manager has a different system. I just want to adapt to him.

“When you think about an Ange Postecoglou perfect player – I want it to be Sonny. He gave a lot of speeches that influenced me so much. It is just so good to learn from different managers.

“I have had some amazing managers. Football seems easy, but football has to be perfect – every aspect, on the pitch and off. I want to improve every aspect.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I get what he’s saying, but Sonny is and will always be a Tottenham legend, let’s be honest.

Still, it would be a dream to see him lift a trophy for Spurs, and hopefully that can happen very soon. This season would be ideal!

Report: Huge Conor Gallagher development as Spurs are handed a potential lifeline

Description

Tottenham may yet still have a chance of landing Conor Gallagher, with The Guardian now reporting that the midfielder’s proposed move to Atletico Madrid has hit a roadblock.

Conor Gallagher may not end up at Atletico Madrid

The report says that the rumoured Spurs target had travelled to Spain for his medical and had spent the last week in Madrid after Atletico agreed a £34m fee with Chelsea for the player’s transfer.

However, the midfielder has now allegedly returned to London, with the transfer unable to be finalised between the two clubs.

It is explained that the collapse of Chelsea’s pursuit of the collapse of striker Samu Omorodion has left the Gallagher deal in jeopardy, with the La Liga side now needing to sell another player to finance their move for the England international before the transfer window shuts.

Can Tottenham swoop in for Gallagher?

The publication adds that the 24-year-old will return to the Cobham training centre and train with the youth squad until an agreement can be finalised between the two clubs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Gallagher has already rejected new contract offers from Chelsea and will now wait to see whether a deal can be reached between the Blues and Atletico.

The report also claims that Gallagher will wait and see whether another club makes an offer for him, but it is not mentioned whether Spurs are expected to swoop for the midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

While this potentially opens the door for Tottenham to swoop for Gallagher, the midfielder might have his heart set on a switch to the Spanish capital and it remains to be seen if he would change his mind.

Chelsea would also not be too keen on selling the midfielder to a direct rival.

Report: Three Spurs youngsters are available for loan, but one teenager is staying put

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have a bunch of very exciting young players at their disposal right now, but it looks like three of the best will be heading out on loan this season to gain more experience.

Spurs trio need first-team football

Thanks to the success of the Under-21 team last season in winning the Premier League 2 title, Tottenham now have one of the most talented and sought-after groups of young players in England.

A number of them have been mixing it with the senior squad lately, too, gaining valuable game time in pre-season. We also saw the likes of Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore getting cameo appearances in the Premier League towards the end of last season.

Now, a report from The Standard has made it clear which young stars will be shipped out on loan this season to gain experience, with Donley, Alfie Devine, and Ashley Phillips all thought to be available for temporary moves.

It is said Spurs want the three players to “continue their development” elsewhere this season. Phillips is one player on that list who has a known suitor, with Spanish side Getafe thought to be keen on the centre-half.

Jamie Donley is expected to join Leyton Orient on loan for the 2024/25 season, while Josh Keeley may also follow him (Alasdair Gold).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Meanwhile, Will Lankshear “could be loaned out,” though there is a chance he will be retained after the departures of both Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett, who joined Espanyol and Oxford United, respectively, on loan.

Mikey Moore will stay at Spurs

Among the talk of those who will be heading out on loan, it is suggested Mikey Moore will remain with Spurs for the season and will “compete for first-team minutes” after impressing in pre-season.

The decision to keep Moore close to the senior squad could lead to the departure of Manor Solomon, who is also expected to be made available for a loan deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Personally, I would be tempted to keep Alfie Devine in the squad, as he already went on loan last season. But, if we can get the right moves for those three, it makes sense to get them regular minutes at a decent level.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Jamie Donley is expected to extend his contract and complete a loan move, Alasdair Gold has now revealed.

Jamie Donley is set for a loan move

Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett have both been loaned out to Valencia and Oxford United respectively by Tottenham and several reports over recent days have indicated that Spurs are also looking to arrange temporary moves for Donley, Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips (The Standard).

It now appears that Donley could be the next one out of the door, with the 19-year-old set to complete a switch to League One side Leyton Orient on a season-long loan.

According to Gold, the Lilywhites have also managed to tie down their academy graduate to a new contract, although the journalist did not reveal the length of the extension.

Finally, the Football.London reporter revealed that Orient are also exploring a move for Spurs academy goalkeeper Josh Keeley, who impressed on loan at National League side Barnet last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Leyton Orient set for Jamie Donley loan switch

Gold took to X to write: “Understand Jamie Donley is set to head out on loan to Leyton Orient. Should get plenty of minutes at the League One club for his development. He’s also expected to be handed a new contract at Spurs. Orient also among those interested in young Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Keeley.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s priority would have been to ensure that Donley plays regularly, which is why a move to a mid-table League One side makes sense.

Spurs have a good relationship with Orient and can expect the O’s to look after the midfielder while the fact that he will remain in London will also make things easier for the 19-year-old.
