Alasdair Gold makes a surprising reveal about Mikey Moore in Spurs training

Moore has found his feet in pre-season

When introduced in the latter stages of Tottenham’s clash with Manchester City back in May, Mikey Moore became Tottenham’s youngest-ever Premier League appearance maker at an astonishing sixteen years, nine months and three days. (Tottenham Hotspur)

Not many would have expected Moore to progress at quite the rate he has since that moment. Ange Postecoglou kept the teenager around the first-team set-up for the remaining few games of the Premier League season, and Moore took that opportunity with both hands.

Mikey Moore has kept his place as a first-team player this pre-season too, proving that he is already capable of playing senior football this year by recording two goals and one assist in his five cameos.

Mikey Moore is vocal in training

Many players of Mikey’s age and inexperience would be daunted by the prospect of playing and training alongside such established superstars such as Tottenham captain, Heung-Min Son, but that trend doesn’t appear to apply to Moore who continues to break the mould at such a young age.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking on his podcast, Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham, people within Spurs have been impressed by Moore, stating: “That’s what I’ve been told about Mikey Moore. Mikey Moore is very vocal.”

Gold continued: “Yeah, he’s only 16, Mikey, which is ridiculous, but he is only 16, apparently on the training and he is quite vocal.”

Spurs Web opinion

Moore being reportedly confident and vocal in training adds to what is an increasing number of reasons to be excited about the teenager, who looks to have a real chance of making a mark for Tottenham this season.

It may be a small detail, but it does indicate that Moore is starting to hold his own in senior training sessions and is playing with the rawness of a youth player, but the confidence of a long-time professional player.

As fans around the world have seen with Jude Bellingham, a bit of arrogance or confidence in yourself can add an edge to separate you from the rest.

According to Football Insider, Emerson Royal is now ‘inching closer’ to a move to AC Milan in a deal that could be worth up to £20m.

Emerson Royal to AC Milan

Emerson came on as a substitute in the second half of Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich in Seoul on Saturday afternoon, which indicates that Milan still have some work to do to secure the right-back.

However, it looks like the deal might finally be going through, with Football Insider suggesting that the transfer is now close to being agreed.

The report reveals that the Rossoneri have had a couple of offers knocked back for the Brazilian earlier this summer but they are now getting closer to the fee that Tottenham want.

Spurs could get £20m for Emerson Royal

It is alleged that the two clubs may soon settle on a fee of £15m, which could rise to around £20m with add-ons.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The publication adds that the 25-year-old is keen to complete a move to the San Siro as he wants to play regular first-team football next season.

Tottenham fly home to London this week following the conclusion of their pre-season tour around Asia, and it remains to be seen whether ingoings and outgoings pick up now that the squad is back.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have been hearing similar reports over the last few days but there has been no concrete movement yet, with Emerson still with the Spurs squad.

With the club now set to fly back to Europe, one would hope that the talks accelerate over the next few days.

Description

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by The Express), Arsenal are one of the clubs leading the race to sign Adrien Rabiot, who has been mooted as a target for Tottenham Hotspur.

Adrien Rabiot is a free agent

Rabiot, who is currently a free agent, has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer, with the midfielder thought to be dreaming of a move to England (Fabrizio Romano).

Over the course of the summer, Tottenham have repeatedly been credited with an interest in securing the former Paris Saint-Germain star’s services (TuttoJuve).

However, over recent days, several outlets have suggested that the Frenchman’s preference is to join Man Utd and that he is set to hold talks with the Old Trafford hierarchy over the coming days (TuttoSport via The Standard).

Arsenal now in pole position to sign Rabiot

However, Gazzetta now have now named Arsenal as the leading contender to secure Rabiot as the Gunners look to strengthen their midfield department ahead of the new campaign.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report names Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as Arsenal’s two closest competitors for the 29-year-old, with the publication adding that Mikel Arteta’s men are now well-placed to win the race.

Tottenham were not mentioned in the report, so it remains to be seen whether they are still interested in the French midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising to see the race for Rabiot’s signature heating up as it is not often that a player of this quality becomes available on a free transfer.

However, I am not surprised that Tottenham are not getting involved in the race, given the midfielder’s age, with the Lilywhites evidently building a long-term project at the moment.

Report: Antonio Conte hopes to scupper Tottenham and Chelsea's transfer chances

Sky Sports have claimed that Antonio Conte hopes to keep rumoured Tottenham target Victor Osimhen at Napoli for one more season.

Tottenham have been linked with Victor Osimhen

Tottenham’s quest to sign a number nine continues as the new season fast approaches, with Ange Postecoglou himself admitting that signing a centre-forward is a priority (Football.London).

Osimhen has been mooted as a target over recent days, with Football Insider claiming on Tuesday that Spurs are prepared to challenge Chelsea for the Nigerian international.

The outlet claimed that the Lilywhites would even be willing to offer some of their players to Napoli in order to bring the 25-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Napoli’s Osimhen stance explained

Sky Sports now reveal that Osimhen’s future is very much up in the air, with several clubs circling around the striker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet says that Chelsea are currently locked in negotiations with Napoli, with the Blues willing to offer Romelu Lukaku to the Serie A side as a part of the deal.

Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen on securing Osimhen but the publication adds that Conte wants to keep the former Lille star at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Spurs Web Opinion

Napoli would want nearly £100m for Osimhen and that is not a fee Spurs will consider paying, especially when there are cheaper alternatives on the market such as Dominic Solanke, Ivan Toney and Jonathan David.

Whatever the case, Spurs need to choose their target and get the deal done soon because the season is fast approaching.

Description

Sky Sports have revealed that Brentford have no intention of selling Ivan Toney to Tottenham on the cheap after Igor Thiago picked up an injury.

Thiago injury could impact Ivan Toney transfer

Thiago, who was brought in by Brentford earlier this summer to replace Toney, has now had surgery on his meniscus and is expected to be sidelined until the end of the year.

Sky point out that this could impact the Bees’ plans for Toney, who is now in the final year of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Toney recently impressed for England on the international stage during a number of cameos off the bench at the European Championships in Germany.

Brentford could still sell Ivan Toney

The report says that Thomas Frank’s men had relaxed their stance recently after demanding a whopping £100m for their star man back in January.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, following the injury sustained by Thiago, it is explained that the West London club have no intention of letting Toney leave on the cheap.

The outlet also goes on to add that while Arsenal had previously expressed an interest in the England international, the Gunners have now turned their attention elsewhere.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is interesting that Sky have not yet ruled out the possibility of Brentford selling Toney despite Thiago’s injury.

However, I do not think Spurs or any other club would want to break the bank for the 28-year-old as they would know that he can be signed for a lower fee in January or perhaps even on a free transfer next summer.

Report: Spurs attacker is generating plenty of interest from a number of clubs

Description

The Sun journalist Tom Barclay has revealed that Jamie Donley is attracting plenty of loan interest across the EFL, including from League One outfit Birmingham City.

Jamie Donley has had an impressive pre-season

Donley is considered one of the best young players at Spurs at the moment, with the versatile attacking midfielder playing a key role in the club’s Premier League 2 triumph last season.

The 19-year-old made his senior Premier League debut for the Lilywhites last season and was named on the bench on plenty of occasions, training more often than not with the first-team squad.

The youngster has showcased his versatility during pre-season so far, filling in impressively at left-back in the absence of Destiny Udogie.

Unsurprisingly, it turns out that plenty of clubs from the second and third tier of English football have now reached out to Spurs to enquire about signing the midfielder on loan.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Donley is attracting plenty of interest

Barclay revealed that former Tottenham senior assistant coach, Chris Davies, who took over as manager at Birmingham City earlier this summer, wants to take the teenager to St Andrews.

The journalist added that Ange Postecoglou‘s side are yet to make a final decision on whether to loan out the England Under-19 international.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is unlikely that Donley would get many worthwhile minutes, even in the Europa League or the Carabao Cup.

Sending the 19-year-old out on loan to allow him to get a regular taste of senior football would make a lot of sense since he has already shown that he is too good for the Under-21s.

Report: Tottenham receive financial stadium boost ahead of the new season

Description

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium may be one of the best footballing venues in the world, but the club will now be allowed to use it for far more than that and far more often, too.

Planning permission granted

While the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has already hosted NFL games, boxing matches, and music concerts fairly regularly, it will now be home to up to 30 non-footballing events per calendar year.

The club has released a statement regarding the news that planning permission has been granted by Haringey Council to extend the use of the ground, pending an S106 agreement.

The statement added: “It follows an extensive consultation carried out by the Club with local residents and businesses. As part of the application, the Club made a series of commitments in response to resident and business feedback.

“The Club will maintain its hugely popular community ticket scheme, ensuring local residents and community organisations continue to have the opportunity to experience events at the Stadium through the provision of complimentary tickets.”

It is highlighted that through the various events and activities at the stadium, Spurs already contribute roughly £900m of gross output to London’s economy, generating an additional £478m of GVA in London.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What will this increase in events mean?

According to the statement, a report found that the stadium also offers £344m GVA (£296m in Haringey specifically) to the tri-Borough area of Haringey, Enfield and Waltham Forest.

It is also thought the club will generate 4,300 jobs during the 2026/27 season, with 3,700 of them being full-time equivalent.

The statement closes by claiming extra revenue generated by these new events will be put back into the club for footballing purposes.

Spurs Web Opinion

This is great news for the club, and means we should have much more money to spend on players. Now if we can just see the transfers actually happening sometime soon, that would be brilliant.

Report: New Europa League format explained

Description

Football.London have explained the new format for the 2024/25 Europa League, as Tottenham and Man United may be set to play more matches than ever before.

Europa League 2024/25

Tottenham are back in the Europa League for the 2024-25 season and the Lilywhites will be one of the favourites to go all the way in the competition, with the final set to take place at San Mames in Bilbao on May 21.

Football.London reveal that each team will face eight matches rather than six in the first round, with the competition set to change to a league phase rather than the usual group stage.

A total of 36 teams will be involved in the league phase, with Tottenham’s eight opponents set to be determined based on seeding in four pots.

Tottenham and Man United are in Pot A

Spurs will find themselves in Pot A along with the likes of Manchester United, AS Roma and Porto, given their high UEFA co-efficient.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The draw is set to take place on August 30 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, which is when Ange Postecoglou’s men will find out who they will be playing home and away.

Spurs will play two teams from Pot A, two from Pot B, two from Pot C and two from Pot D.

Football.London further adds that in the league phase, teams cannot face opponents from their own country and can be drawn against a maximum of two sides from the same nation.

Spurs Web Opinion

While the extra matches are not ideal, this format will make the competition much more interesting than playing the same three sides home and away.

Qualification to the next round should also be relatively easier as there is a bit more room for error, given the increased number of matches. That should give Ange the freedom to rotate his squad in the league phase.

Report: Spurs are not interested in Man City defender despite previous rumours

Description

Tottenham Hotspur could be set for a bit of a domino effect when it comes to their full-back options this summer, with one sale potentially leading to a new player coming in. But, recent reports linking the Lilywhites with a Manchester City player are not thought to have any substance to them.

Issa Kabore is a no-go for Spurs

That’s according to a piece from Football.London, which quashed rumours of Tottenham looking at Issa Kabore from Manchester City this summer.

The full-back spent last season on loan at Luton Town where he impressed, but the report from Football.London claims the idea of Spurs looking at Kabore is “wide of the mark”.

This is especially the case now that Djed Spence appears to have got himself on track and secured his Spurs future after an impressive pre-season.

The talk surrounding Kabore initially came from Mike McGrath, who tweeted saying Kabore was a “leading contender” for Spurs if they were to sell Emerson Royal. McGrath claimed Kabore had “caught the eye” and could be available for £12m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham’s full-back situation

Whether Spurs actually need a new full-back, particularly a right-back, remains to be seen. At present, Pedro Porro would appear to be the number one choice there, with Spence and new signing Archie Gray also providing cover for the role.

Royal is also still a Spurs player as things stand, but it seems he could be on his way to AC Milan in the coming days after a protracted transfer saga since the end of last season.

Spurs Web Opinion

We do not need a new right-back, at all. Porro and Spence, with Gray as an extra backup if needed, that’s more than enough.

A new left-back, I could understand, as we only really have Udogie over that side. Thankfully this reported interest in Kabore appears to be unfounded.

Report: Brentford's stance on Ivan Toney hasn't changed

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s reported pursuit of Ivan Toney may come to nothing this summer, with Brentford now likely to keep hold of the striker, whether they like it or not.

Ivan Toney staying with the Bees

The reasons are two-fold, according to the latest from Sky Sports. First of all, it has been said that the knee injury sustained by new signing Igor Thiago could tempt Brentford into wanting to keep hold of Toney.

However, Toney sticking around would apparently be little more than a bonus for Brentford. Still, if an offer were to come in for the England international, it is thought Brentford would have a decision to make on his future.

The 28-year-old has a year left on his current contract, and while he was previously considered “hot property”, there have been no offers for him yet this summer.

Instead, it is suggested clubs may prefer to sign him next year for free, given the nature of the transfer market right now amid Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

MORE SPURS STORIES

No move available for Toney yet

In fact, even top clubs are now looking to sign younger players who might have better sell-on potential in the future, with a view to protecting against “huge losses on their investments.”

Now, it is suggested Thiago’s injury actually “changes nothing” for Brentford. The Brazilian striker will be out until the end of the year, but if the Bees were to receive an offer for Toney, they would still consider it.

Spurs have been linked with Toney for quite some time now, with The Mirror recently claiming the Lilywhites were still very much monitoring his situation as they look for a new striker.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do think that, if we really wanted Toney, we would have made a move for him by now. It’s clear Brentford want or need to sell him, and his price has dropped to well within our range.

I think there are better options out there, who would probably cost less and would be younger, too.
