Spurs insider reveals club are waiting for ‘green light’ on three new signings - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have so far brought in one fresh face during the summer transfer window following the arrival of Archie Gray.

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe has now offered supporters a reason to be optimistic after revealing that there could soon be more incoming.

O’Keefe took to social media platform X to claim that it is understood the North Londoners are awaiting news on three other arrivals.

While not disclosing the names of any transfer targets it is said that Tottenham are ready to push the button on the trio, but are currently awaiting the green light from their current respective clubs.

New signings could be on the way for Ange Postecoglou

He responded on X when asked by a supporter about new arrivals after he commented on Spurs being in talks for Min-Hyeok Yang: “I was only told they had 3 ready to go and were waiting on them to be finalised/fully agreed.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“They weren’t the ones delaying. This lad is one for the future so they still need to add for first XI which again I’m told there on it. Timings are always tricky to pin down precisely.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Transfers are a complicated process and while some supporters are desperate to see more fresh blood in the Spurs first team, deals can often be held up until the selling club have their replacement lined up.

TalkSPORT report that Tottenham have a significant advantage in the race for Ivan Toney this summer, but West Ham fans may not be too pleased with the update (23/07/24 – 19:56).

West Ham and Spurs both want Ivan Toney

GiveMeSport reported recently that Tottenham are expected to make a ‘lowball’ offer for Ivan Toney over the coming weeks as they are confident that his price tag will come down.

Tottenham reportedly want to add more new faces to their front line this summer, but have not yet made a serious approach to Brentford regarding their striker.

West Ham and Spurs are named as the two most likely destinations for the England centre-forward ahead of the 2024/25 season, with Brentford dropping his price to £50m.

Ivan Toney prefers a move to Tottenham Hotspur

TalkSPORT now claim that Toney is prepared to run his contract down and leave Brentford on a free if he does not get his ‘big summer move’ this year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

While Spurs and West Ham are again named as the two most interested Premier League teams, it is also said that clubs in Saudi Arabia are keeping an eye on Toney.

Fortunately for Tottenham, the report goes as far as to say that Toney is ‘hoping Spurs make a move’ for him before the transfer window slams shut, giving them a huge advantage in the race.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It seems wild that the race for Ivan Toney has thinned out this much over the last month. Tottenham and West Ham being the only interested Premier League teams seems strange.

If Toney really does want Spurs and his price has already dropped to £50m, I expect Spurs to wait it out a little longer and try to sign him for just £40m.

Journalist reveals what everyone is saying about Lucas Bergvall at Tottenham - The Spurs Web
Description

Journalist Dean Jones is hearing exciting things about Lucas Bergvall behind the scenes at Tottenham, with many at the club tipping him to become a star of the future.

Lucas Bergvall is making a splash at Spurs

Alasdair Gold has already revealed that people behind the scenes at Spurs have been impressed by both Bergvall and Archie Gray, labelling them as signings of the future and signings for now (Football London).

Postecoglou has also been open with his praise for the teenage midfield duo, telling the press in a recent pre-season conference (Football London): “They’ve (Bergvall and Gray) come in really with the right attitude, very humble, but really ambitious and want to make an impact. They’re not here to ease their way in, they want to play and it’s exactly what you want from young guys coming through and they’ve added a good energy to the group.”

Bergvall has appeared twice for Tottenham so far in pre-season, creating two goals in the 5-1 win over Hearts before starting brightly in the opening 26 minutes against QPR, at which point he picked up an injury.

It appears the excitement is continuing to bubble around Hotspur Way about Tottenham’s newest Swedish talent.

Bergvall is a star of the future

Dean Jones has now revealed that people at Spurs have been particularly impressed by Bergvall’s technical abilities during pre-season, and they see him as a real star of the future in N17.

Jones told the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast: “Bergvall, they think he’s going to be great, it’s as simple as that. They think this player will be a star of the future, to be honest.

“I don’t know how soon they think that will happen in the Premier League. This is what I’m hearing, everyone is so impressed by his technical abilities.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

We have only seen a tiny glimpse of Bergvall in pre-season so it is important not to get carried away and put too much pressure on him, but he does look like a real talent.

I expect Postecoglou to ease him into actual first-team football this season, with Archie Gray ahead of him in the midfield pecking order due to his price tag and experience in the English game.

Pundit thinks 22-year-old would suit Spurs’ style and take them to the next level - The Spurs Web
Description

Alan Hutton thinks Tottenham are a ‘massive club’ these days and the kind of players they are being linked with shows they are trying to reach the ‘next level’.

Tottenham were offered Karim Adeyemi

HITC reported in July that Tottenham and Chelsea had both been offered Karim Adeyemi by Borussia Dortmund, with new manager Nuri Sahin allegedly not a fan of the 22-year-old.

Chelsea, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham were all said to be keen on the German attacker, who reached the Champions League final with Dortmund last season.

This comes as Spurs are known to be in the market for a new striker this summer, following the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last year (Football.London).

Alan Hutton is excited by Adeyemi to Spurs links

Alan Hutton believes a player like Adeyemi would suit Ange Postecoglou’s tactics at Tottenham down to the ground, due to his all-action and direct style of play.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He also added that Spurs are showing how much they want to reach the ‘next level’ by the quality of players they are being linked with this summer.

He told Football Insider: “He’s [Adeyemi] a nightmare for defenders. He gives your full-back a sleepless night, he’s one of those guys who’s very direct, he’s pacy, can go both ways.

“[He] really gets the fans excited, so I’m not surprised that this is what they’re looking at.

“The style of football that Tottenham plays, that’s what it’s like, it’s all action; all gung-ho, get at them and score as many goals as you want, so it doesn’t really surprise me.

“Again, it will come down to costs and fees and wages and things like that and if they can get something done.

“Tottenham are a massive club, and you can tell with the names that they’re going for that they’re really looking to take it to the next level.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Adeyemi would be a great signing for Spurs this summer, but I suspect he would cost too much and Tottenham need to prioritise other kinds of reinforcements.

I would much prefer putting £40m or so on Ivan Toney, who can bring Tottenham’s wingers into play a little more than someone like Adeyemi.

Report: Tottenham will play another behind

Report: Tottenham will play another behind-closed-doors friendly match today - The Spurs Web
Description

Football London report that Tottenham will play another behind-closed-doors friendly today in Japan, just as they did against Cambridge United at Hotspur Way earlier this month.

Tottenham’s pre-season is well underway

Tottenham have started their 2024/25 pre-season in impressive fashion, with a 7-2 behind-closed-doors win over Cambridge United leading into back-to-back victories over Hearts and QPR.

So far in pre-season, Ange Postecoglou has opted to name two different starting XIs for each half of football, meaning none of the Spurs players are exerting more than 45 minutes of game time.

However, that could be set to change this week as they begin their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, all starting with another behind-closed-doors friendly today (Thursday).

Tottenham to play a behind-closed-doors friendly

Alasdair Gold claims Tottenham have arranged a training ground friendly in Tokyo today, which is designed to give some of the younger players in the 31-man squad a good run out in the heat.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Most of the academy players, like Will Lankshear, Alfie Devine, Mikey Moore and Jamie Donley, are thought to be in line to get some good minutes in the friendly fixture, as well as some of the younger fringe members of the first-team like Oliver Skipp and Djed Spence.

This would imply, according to Gold, that Postecoglou could start ramping up the number of minutes he hands to his senior first-team players against Vissel Kobe on Saturday, rather than naming two different XIs for each half.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This sounds like a smart plan from Ange. Make sure everyone, even the youngsters, gets an opportunity to impress and build fitness in a game situation, while prioritising the first-team in the bigger organised matches.

I expect we could see a strong starting XI against Vissel Kobe on Saturday.

Report: Roma agree £21m deal for winger, but it is on hold amid Spurs and Chelsea interest - The Spurs Web
Description

Roma reportedly agreed a £21m deal with Juventus this summer, only for it to be put on hold amid interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea (Sport Italia, via Matthijs Pog).

Tottenham and Chelsea are keen on Federico Chiesa

HITC reported recently that all three of Tottenham, Chelsea and Newcastle had contacted Juventus about a potential deal for Chiesa this summer.

GiveMeSport previously named Spurs as the Italian winger’s ‘most likely’ destination if he swaps Serie A for the Premier League over the coming weeks.

Despite interest from Roma, CalcioMercato report that Chiesa is waiting on offers from the Premier League. Spurs are preparing a bid and Chelsea are said to be very interested too.

Roma agree £21m deal for Federico Chiesa

It has now been reported that Roma went as far as to agree a fee with Juventus for the transfer of Chiesa this summer, but the deal is now on hold (Sport Italia, via Matthijs Pog).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Whatever the reason behind the transfer speedbump, it appears to at least confirm Chiesa’s price tag this summer, following his bit-part role with Italy at the European Championships.

This lines up with the £21.6m fee Fabrizio Romano reported earlier in the transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Is it worth taking a £21.6m punt on Federico Chiesa? A few years ago, it would have been triple that fee and the Italian had the world at his feet.

My head says Spurs should play it safe and go for someone else who is both in good form and Premier League proven. My heart says it is too good a deal to pass up on.

Spurs and Atletico only want to pay £40m

Description

GiveMeSport report that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid both want a £15m discount on Chelsea’s £55m asking price for Conor Gallagher this summer.

The Conor Gallagher transfer saga continues

Tottenham reportedly first looked at Conor Gallagher when Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London last summer, but the midfielder ended up remaining with his boyhood Chelsea for another season (Sky Sports).

The Telegraph revealed more recently that Atletico Madrid are showing more interest than Spurs in the England international these days.

Chelsea want £55m for Conor Gallagher

GiveMeSport now report that Chelsea are standing firm on their Conor Gallagher price tag and are determined to get more than £50m for the midfielder.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In fact, the Blues are said to want a fee similar to the £55m Manchester United paid for Mason Mount last summer, if they are to cash in on another academy graduate.

However, Spurs and Atletico Madrid, both of whom are ones to watch in the race for Gallagher, are reportedly only willing to part with £40m for his services.

Spurs Web Opinion:

£55m is very steep for a player like Conor Gallagher. What you are getting is a player who is extremely fit, neat and tidy on the ball, and will press all day long for you.

You are not getting a big name who is going to completely transform the way you win football matches, which is usually what you would want from a near-club-record signing.

Pundit urges Tottenham to sign Valencia star and copy Arsenal transfer strategy

Pundit urges Tottenham to sign Valencia star and copy Arsenal transfer strategy - The Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have plenty of transfer targets this summer, but the club has been told by Darren Ambrose that, if they want to compete at the very top, they need to recruit in a position you might not expect.

Guglielmo Vicario needs to watch his back

Spurs fans may think the club has got everything sorted in the goalkeeper department, but Ambrose believes the Lilywhites need to push on and sign another top keeper to push Guglielmo Vicario, just like Arsenal did with Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya.

And Ambrose believes Valencia keeper, Giorgi Mamardashvilli is the man for the job. When asked by talkSPORT who should sign the Georgian, Ambrose said: “I am going to say it – Spurs. They have Vicario, but there were a few flaws in Vicario, and I think people targeted that in terms of coming for crosses.

“He wasn’t getting a lot of support from the officials, but people were targeting his weakness of coming for crosses. So, look, maybe, and we have seen with Arsenal with the two goalkeepers situation, sometimes that works.”

Spurs almost signed Mamardashvilli last year

Before Tottenham signed Vicario last summer, Mamardashvilli was heavily linked with the Lilywhites.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to a report from Fichajes, Spurs were looking to take advantage of Valencia’s financial issues by trying to make an approach for their keeper.

More recently, Estadio Deportivo claimed Tottenham are still monitoring Mamardashvilli’s situation, despite the fact the Georgian stopper has a €100m release clause, but is destined to leave Valencia this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Mamardashvilli is one of the best keepers in the world, to be honest, and it would be very interesting to see him competing with Vicario at Spurs.

We don’t need to sign a new goalkeeper this year in my opinion, but if and when we do, Mamardashvilli should be a target for sure.

Fabrizio Romano delivers late update on Emerson Royal and reveals small fee holding up exit

Description

Fabrizio Romano has delivered a new update on Emerson Royal’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Italian transfer guru has taken to the social media platform X this evening to reveal that a new round of talks between Tottenham and AC Milan have taken place over the potential sale of Emerson Royal.

There is now just a €3m (£2.5m) difference in valuation separating both clubs with talks still ongoing in the hope that a deal can be reached.

Royal has already agreed personal terms with the Serie A giants ahead of the prospect of a fee being agreed.

Romano wrote: “AC Milan had new contacts with Tottenham for Emerson Royal.

“There’s still almost €3m difference between fee offered and proposal received. Personal terms agreed in May, talks still ongoing between the two clubs.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 25-year-old revealed in a recent interview with Brazilian news outlet Globo that he wanted regular first-team football.

Ange Postecoglou has preferred to select Pedro Porro as his first-choice right-back throughout last season leaving the former Barcelona player with limited game time.

Royal said: “I want to play on a regular basis. I don’t want to sit on the bench.

“I’ve always been professional, but I also told the coach (Ange Postecoglou) at Spurs that I want to play. Otherwise, I have to look at other options.”

When asked about the prospect of playing for AC Milan, he added: “AC Milan? It’s a reference point for all Brazilians.”

Royal is currently in Japan with the rest of the Tottenham first-team squad as they prepare for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo.

SpursWeb Opinion

£2.5m is a small fee in transfer terms and it would be hard to imagine this deal is not concluded soon, whether if AC Milan are prepared to up their fee, or Spurs negotiate it within a potential future clause.

Royal simply does not fit the style of play which is expected under Ange Postecoglou and Porro’s injury towards the end of last season exposed the Brazilian as a liability within the current system.
