Tottenham remain interested in signing Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, and they are prepared to offer a player plus some cash to get a deal over the line this summer.

Tottenham want Jacob Ramsey

Spurs have been linked with a move for Ramsey for weeks now, with Football Insider reporting that the Lilywhites were in talks with Aston Villa over a potential deal.

Sky Sports also reported earlier in the window that Tottenham were interested in the young midfielder and were willing to offer Giovani Lo Celso as a makeweight in any deal.

The idea of a player-plus-cash deal is now cropping up again this week, with Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge revealing that Spurs are still exploring the possibility (19/07/24 – 08:55).

Lo Celso plus cash for Jacob Ramsey

Giovani Lo Celso has been a periphery figure at Tottenham for years now, whether it be out on loan or consigned to the bench for the vast majority of last season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

SkySports claim that Spurs are exploring the idea of using their forgotten midfield creator in order to lure Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa over the coming weeks.

Johan Lange knows Ramsey well from his time at Villa, while Unai Emery has actually managed Lo Celso at two different clubs in the past – Villarreal and PSG.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Lo Celso is definitely going somewhere this summer so it makes sense to try and use him to the club’s advantage. But when do you ever see player-plus-cash deals actually work?

I’m also not convinced that Jacob Ramsey really adds a lot to the current Tottenham squad and would rather see us invest in other areas.

Description

There have been consistent reports that Spurs are in the market for a new striker this summer with Richarlison leaving a possibility with the latest reports suggesting that 22-year-old, Karim Adeyemi, has been offered to the Tottenham.

Spurs are searching for a new striker this summer

It was first reported by Football.London that Tottenham were in the market for a new striker this summer with the suggestion that a shortlist had been drawn up, with Jonathan David being one of the standout names.

Current striker, Richarlison is yet to feature in pre-season following an injury sustained towards the end of the season. Tottenham’s striker scored eleven times in the Premier League last campaign but is attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah, setting up a potential exit this summer. (Fichajes)

Any exit for Richarlison would surely make a new striker signing certain, but a deal for one could happen regardless of the Brazilian future at Spurs with Football Insider reporting that Ange Postecoglou is ‘obsessed’ with signing a centre-forward this summer.

Adeyemi has reportedly been offered to Tottenham

HITC reported on the 16th of July that Champions League finalist, Karim Adeyemi, has been offered to Spurs alongside a host of other Premier League sides.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Borussia Dortmund signed the rapid striker two years ago from Austrian side, RB Salzburg, with Adeyemi going on to net fourteen goals in sixty-six games for the Bundesliga giants, however, it seems as though the German international has fallen out of favour at Dortmund. (TransferMarkt)

Borussia Dortmund surprisingly parted ways with manager, Edin Terzic, after falling just short of European glory last season with former play, Nuri Sahin, taking the post as Dortmund’s new manager.

The ex-Turkish international is reportedly not a fan of Adeyemi however and has told the forward he wants him to depart the club this summer.

Chelsea, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham are believed to be the English sides keen on capturing the unwanted German star with the 22-year-old’s agent in contact with the various potential suitors.

Spurs Web opinion

The fact that Sahin and Dortmund are willing to sell Adeyemi and are even encouraging him to leave would be a slight concern for Spurs fans and the interested clubs.

Adeyemi possesses plenty of pace and trickery to hurt teams, but as displayed in the Champions League final, the forward often struggles to provide a lethal finish which overall makes him an exciting but frustrating player to watch.

Former Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is facing even more legal problems in Italy

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s former managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, could find himself back in court again soon regarding his time at Juventus and potential capital gains and wage manipulation (Football London).

Why did Fabio Paratici leave Tottenham?

Paratici has not been involved with Spurs in a full-time or official capacity since April 2023, when he resigned from his position as managing director of football amidst investigations into his time at Juventus.

He was eventually handed a 30-month ban by the Italian football federation, which was extended to a worldwide ban by FIFA, punishing him for his alleged role in Juventus’ potential balance sheet fixing.

Even after this worldwide ban, FIFA lifted certain restrictions to allow Paratici to work for Tottenham behind the scenes as a consultant.

This is why reports have continued to link Paratici with Tottenham’s transfer business this summer. Football Insider reported that Spurs entrusted their search for a new number nine to Paratici, for example.

MORE SPURS STORIES

What is happening with Fabio Paratici now?

Paratici could be in trouble once more back in Italy due to the current Prisma investigation, which is looking into alleged capital gains and suspicious activity relating to footballer salaries at Juventus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paratici could now face a fresh trial after an indictment request was submitted by prosecutors, alongside other former Juventus figures like Andrea Agnelli, Pavel Nedved, and Maurizio Arrivabene.

Football London add that: ‘Reports suggest that there has also been separation ordered for two counts when it comes to Paratici as at that time he was no longer part of Juventus as he had moved on to Tottenham.’

Spurs Web Opinion:

With Johan Lange now filling the permanent role of managing director of football, I expect Tottenham to cut ties with Paratici completely.

He did some great work for the club, particularly in the Italian market, but there comes a point where you have to move on and find something a little more stable.

Postecoglou is backing Spurs star to have a 'massive' second season

Brennan Johnson didn’t always set the world alight in his first season at Tottenham, but Ange Postecoglou is apparently backing him to catch fire this season.

A stuttering start for Brennan Johnson

During the last year’s summer transfer window, Johnson was a marquee signing for Tottenham as he made a £45m move from Nottingham Forest. (BBC)

The Welsh winger has divided opinions during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but still contributed with 15 goal involvements across all competitions in the previous campaign. (Transfer Markt)

Johnson was in and out of the team at times last season, often proving himself a valuable option off the bench when legs were tired, however, it appears Postecoglou is confident Brennan’s second season will show vast improvement.

Postecoglou is backing Brennan

Alasdair Gold has revealed via his YouTube channel that Ange Postecoglou has high hopes for Johnson this season, and his performance in the pre-season seems to justify that fully.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist said: “Brennan Johnson scored a hat trick in the behind-closed-doors friendly against Cambridge and another goal in his next 45 minutes of football, so that’s four goals in 90 minutes.

“Postecoglou’s got big hopes for Brennan Johnson, he really feels like this second season is going to be a massive one for him. He’s still only 23, 15 goal involvements last season and I think that’s going to be well above 20 goal involvements, maybe even 25 or 30m I think he’s going to have a terrific season.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

His prolific form so far in pre-season will do him a world of good and leave some of his attacking teammates nervous for their spots.

Kulusevski may have to watch over his shoulder. Postecoglou seems to have a lot of faith in the Welsh winger to start plenty of games on the right side of the attack, as Heung-min Son is surely guaranteed to start on the left.

I feel like Brennan’s got his head screwed on and won’t be afraid to take another chance if he misses one earlier in the match; his calmness is the key to becoming consistent.

Mikey Moore is over the moon after scoring his first senior Tottenham goal, with the teenager handed yet more minutes in the pre-season fixture against Hearts.

Mikey Moore is Tottenham’s academy gem

Reports had already indicated that Moore scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Cambridge United last week, but he repeated the trick on camera against Hearts (Football London).

After being slid through by a Lucas Bergvall pass, Moore collected the ball effortlessly and dribbled past a Hearts defender to work half a yard for the finish, which was just as clinical as the build-up.

Mikey Moore is over the moon at first Spurs goal

Alasdair Gold recently revealed that Moore will likely get even more minutes than people expect this season under Postecoglou, which is an exciting prospect, to say the least.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast: “I keep getting told that he’s going to get more minutes than we actually expect this season, which is great”.

Moore himself has now taken to social media to react to his first senior Spurs goal. He wrote: “To score my first goal, even though it was in a pre-season game, was probably the best feeling I’ve had so far, and to score in front of the fans as well… it was unreal!

“The little dribble and finish… It’s what I’ve been doing in the academy so I just wanted to keep doing what I’ve been doing. Even though it was a pre-season game, it meant everything to me.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I have a feeling this boy is going to make headlines this season at Tottenham.

It’s rare that you see someone look so comfortable in the first-team set-up at such a young age. It looks as though the pressure fuels him, rather than holding him back. I want to see him get lots of minutes this year.

Report: Spurs are in daily contact with striker over a potential move this summer

Description

Tottenham appear keen to add to their striker roster ahead of the 2024/25 season with Heung-Min Son struggling to play centrally towards the end of the season as well as Richarlison suffering long-term injuries.

Spurs shake up their attack this summer

Football.London revealed in late June that Tottenham were looking to add a new striker to the squad this summer, although they could also lose one of their existing attackers as a result.

Tottenham’s number 9, Richarlison, played a lot more like the £50 million signing the club brought back in 2022 last season, scoring eleven times in twenty-eight league games.

However, lengthy periods on the treatment table have caused Tottenham to be open to bids this summer for the forward. (Evening Standard)

Reports on the 18th of July from Fichajes suggest that Tottenham’s Brazilian star is of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs with Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah the two sides particularly keen on signing the 27-year-old striker this summer.

A name that has been touted to replace Richarlison is Lille’s Jonathan David, who is reported by Football.London to be on the club’s striker shortlist after smashing in 84 goals in 183 games for the French side. (TransferMarkt)

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are in consistent contact with David

Football Insider revealed on the 18th of July that Spurs are in daily contact with Jonathan David, with Ange Postecoglou believed to be ‘obsessed’ with bringing a new striker to the club this summer.

Fabrizio Romano reported early in June that Lille’s president admitted ‘Leny Yoro and Jonathan David can leave the club this summer’ with Yoro having secured a move to Manchester United since.

David is believed to have only a year remaining on his current deal which, according to Football Insider, means Lille’s asking price for the Canadian is as low as £25 million.

Tottenham will have to beat London rivals Chelsea and West Ham to the 24-year-old striker’s signature with both clubs also reported to be monitoring the forward.

Spurs Web opinion

The French league is notoriously regarded as one of the riskiest to buy from with Tottenham and Arsenal having both forked out very high fees to sign Tanguy Ndombele and Nicolas Pepe only for the pair to both be loaned out numerous times before eventually being let go by their respective clubs.

However, David’s scoring record is outstanding and if the rumours of a cut-price fee are true then spending £25 million on the Canadian could be a smart piece of business, at 24 David’s value is only likely to appreciate too.

'First of many' – Will Lankshear opens up on scoring his first Tottenham goal

Description

After having an injury-struck 2022/23 season Will Lankshear finally got a real shot in the Spurs academy last season, grasping the opportunity with both hands. The prolific striker was then given a chance in pre-season against Hearts, grabbing a goal in his debut.

Lankshear was the academy’s star striker last season

Wayne Burnett guided Tottenham’s U21s to an incredible season, lifting both the PL2 play-off and league title, marking a new era of promising young talent emerging at Hotspur Way, with Will Lankshear being one of the standout stars.

Lankshear was one of the few members of the title-winning PL2 squad to not be handed a first-team chance. That was, until Wednesday evening, when Ange Postecoglou threw Lankshear into Spurs’ first pre-season game against Hearts.

It was an evening to remember for Lankshear

Postecoglou named Lankshear in his second half starting eleven, it only took Will ten minutes to have his name on the scoresheet.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lankshear guided home an effort from just inside the box after meeting Djed Spence’s perfectly weighted pass in behind the Hearts defence.

The 19-year-old expressed his amazement in sharing a dressing room with some of Spurs’ stars on Wednesday explaining to Tottenham Hotspur’s media team: “I’ve grown up watching a lot of these players on TV and now being able to play with them, it was a massive learning experience.”

Tottenham’s youth star couldn’t hide his delight from scoring stating: “It’s an amazing feeling, a really proud moment and hopefully the first of many.

“All week I’ve been working on that and I knew I just had to take the chance, take my opportunity. The ball came in and I had nothing else on my mind other than to score.”

Spurs Web opinion

Many Tottenham fans will be hoping that Lankshear can make his statement of Wednesday’s goal being the first of many true with the 19-year-old seemingly wielding all the abilities to go on and be a top player.

Spurs face QPR in their final friendly before jetting off to Japan, it will therefore be interesting to judge how Lankshear does against QPR and whether or not he will go on the pre-season tour.

Report: Fulham prepare a bid for Spurs player after Man United rejection

Description

Tottenham Hotspur now have an abundance of central midfielders, something Fulham are looking to take advantage of as they put together a proposal for one player Spurs may allow to leave this summer.

Hojbjerg could stay in the Premier League after all

It has been suggested for quite some time now that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will call time on his Tottenham career this summer, but he might not end up moving very far if Fulham get their own way.

The latest from Football Insider claims the West London side are turning their attention to Hojbjerg after seeing a £17m bid rejected by Manchester United for Scott McTominay.

Spurs have reportedly told Hojbjerg he is free to leave the club this summer, especially given the acquisition of Archie Gray, who can operate in the middle of the park or at right-back.

It is thought Hojbjerg’s experience would make him a suitable addition for Fulham, who are lacking in midfield, and he could instantly walk into their first-team.

The report adds that, regardless of Hojbjerg’s situation, Spurs may also let Oliver Skipp leave this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fulham will face competition for Hojbjerg

It won’t be easy for Fulham to secure the signing of Hojbjerg, though. The Danish international is a wanted man, with a number of top European clubs already linked to him this summer.

A report from Football Insider last week claimed Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and two other clubs were also keen on Hojbjerg.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt Hojbjerg would flourish at Fulham and would get all the first-team football he could want.

But, I do think he is capable of playing at a higher level and in a better team, so I reckon he will hold out for a move to a big club in Europe rather than staying in the Premier League.

Description

The race for Conor Gallagher’s signature is heating up, with Atletico Madrid now leading the charge to sign the Chelsea midfielder this summer despite consistent links with Tottenham.

Spurs have been linked with Conor Gallagher

It’s no secret that Spurs have been looking to bring in more homegrown players to try and up their quota for European football requirements (Football London).

Tottenham have reportedly been long-term admirers of Connor Gallagher, with reports even dating back to last year as Spurs tried to understand his contract situation more to see whether Chelsea would be willing to let him go (Sky Sports).

Fast forward to today and Gallagher played the most minutes out of any Chelsea player last season as Mauricio Pochettino led Chelsea to a 6th placed finish, earning them UEFA Conference League Football.

Atletico Madrid are pushing harder for Gallagher

The Telegraph have now reported that Atletico Madrid have ‘shown greater interest’ in Gallagher than Tottenham, even holding talks with Chelsea in recent days.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Spurs are still said to be interested in the midfielder and the chances of Atletico actually coming up with an attractive financial package to sign Gallagher are said to be slim.

Tottenham are yet to make any official move for the England player this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Archie Gray’s arrival certainly boosts Spurs’ homegrown quota, further supported by the eventual departures of Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Gil, and others.

We must replace these talents with young, hungry, and potentially homegrown players. Could we find our answers in our academy with Devine and Moore? I expect them to play a part in the upcoming season.

Description

Tottenham are set to announce the signing of Southampton’s head of national recruitment, Simon Jones, who has over three decades of experience in the game (The Athletic).

Simon Jones comes marching in

A highly rated figure at Southampton, Simon Jones will be reunited with Jack Chapman, whom Spurs brought over earlier this summer to become the new head of academy recruitment.

The pair had previously worked together at Southampton from 2021 onwards, and both are credited with rebuilding the club’s recruitment and pre-academy programmes.

Jones was initially appointed as a lead regional scout but he was soon promoted to his current role as national head of recruitment, which involves looking after the age groups between under-14s and under-19s.

Providing nearly thirty years of experience in scouting and recruitment, Jones will offer a plethora of knowledge and should oversee fruitful development during his time at Tottenham with Chapman.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The youth revolution at Tottenham

Tottenham seem to be putting more and more emphasis on youth at Hotspur Way, investing time, money and effort into players of the future.

The likes of Will Lankshear, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Mikey Moore, Tyrese Hall and co have impressed over the past 12 months, with the U21 side even winning Premier League 2 last season.

The signing of Simon Jones seems to be further proof that Spurs are building something new and long-lasting in North London, with youth at its core.

Spurs Web Opinion

Fans undervalue the importance of moving the wheels for matters off the pitch. These crucial roles allow us to identify the best talents and oversee the right development plans for their age groups.
