According to Sky Sport Italy (as relayed by FC Inter 1908), Tottenham Hotspur can land Giovanni Leoni for a cut-price fee this summer but only if they agree to loan the centre-back back to Sampdoria.

Spurs have been linked with Giovanni Leoni

Over recent weeks, several sources have reported that Sampdoria, who triggered the €1.5m buy option to buy Leoni on the back of his loan spell at the club last season, are now ready to sell him on for a profit.

Tottenham are one of the clubs thought to be circling over the 17-year-old (Fabrizio Romano).

This was backed up last week by Tuttosport, who suggested that Spurs are battling the likes of Inter Milan, Napoli, Torino and Monaco for the teenager.

Cut-price deal for Giovanni Leoni

Sky Italy have now also named Tottenham among the list of Leoni’s admirers, with the report adding that a whole host of sides in Italy and across Europe are circling over the defender.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet asserts that Sampdoria would be willing to sell the Italy Under-18 international for just €5m (£4.2m) this summer but they would like the youngster to be loaned back to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

In fact, it is revealed that Napoli have informed the Serie B club that they are willing to sanction a two-year loan so that Leoni can stay with Sampdoria until 2026.

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Tottenham like this formula of signing emerging talent and then loaning them back out to their clubs, with the Lilywhites doing the same with Destiny Udogie, Pape Sarr and Luka Vuskovic.

I would not be surprised if Spurs take a punt on Leoni, given the modest transfer fee involved.

Report: Crystal Palace eye former Spurs player as potential Olise replacement

Description

Ryan Sessegnon is set to leave Tottenham when his contract runs out today, and it seems Crystal Palace have their eye on him as a potential Michael Olise replacement.

Ryan Sessegnon never really got going at Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham signed a 19-year-old Sessegnon in the summer of 2019 when the wing-back was hot property among English clubs after a decent first Premier League season.

The year before, Sessegnon had enjoyed an immense 2017/18 campaign which earned him Championship Player of the Season. (BBC)

The seasons that followed were frustrating for both Sessegnon and the Tottenham fans as the Englishman struggled to stay fit consistently.

A period of success for Ryan came under Antonio Conte, coming off the back of a loan with Hoffenheim where he thrived. He returned to form a dangerous partnership with opposite wing-back Matt Doherty.

However, that was effectively the height of Sessegnon’s career at Tottenham with this season being yet another one defined by injuries as he suffered what was his fifth hamstring problem in a U21 game that was designed to get him back to fitness (TransferMarkt).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham shortly after announced Sessegnon would be departing this summer at the end of his deal.

Sessegnon is receiving interest from Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace, who are expected to lose winger Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, are seeking a new winger with Sessegnon being ‘eyed’ by the South London side.

The Sun reported on Friday (29/6/24) that following the French winger’s imminent exit, Oliver Glasner’s side ‘fancy free agent Ryan Sessegnon’ with the 24-year-old allowed to move wherever he wishes after the expiry of his Spurs deal on the 30th of June.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sessegnon’s time as Spurs ended as neither party wished, when he signed it was a deal fans were enthused about, signing one of the country’s most exciting youngsters at the time, but injuries simply interrupted Sessegnon’s experience too much for him to progress or hold down a regular spot.

The former Fulham winger undeniably has bucket-loads of ability though and a club such as Crystal Palace, where he could get regular game time, could help him get back on track as long as injuries don’t keep reoccurring.

Alasdair Gold says Spurs are not entertaining offers to sell highly

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold says that Jamie Donley is now ‘increasingly likely’ to be loaned out ahead of the new season as the interest in the attacking midfielder continues to grow.

Jamie Donley is a star at Hotspur Way

Donley is now increasingly viewed at Hotspur Way as the most promising young player in his age group, with the 19-year-old netting eight goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions for the Under-21s last season (Transfermarkt).

A number of outlets have indicated over the last couple of days that several EFL clubs have expressed an interest in signing the teenager and that Tottenham are open-minded about loaning the youngster out (GiveMeSport).

According to some sources, newly promoted Championship club Oxford United are now in pole position to land the Tottenham man, with the side currently said to be locked in negotiations with Spurs (BBC Sport).

Postecoglou has a decision to make on Jamie Donley

Gold has now also revealed that a number of Championship and League One clubs have reached out to Spurs over Donley’s availability.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist says that Ange Postecoglou now has a decision to make regarding the versatile midfielder and that while Tottenham are not entertaining offers to sell the player, there is now ‘growing likelihood’ that he would leave on loan.

Apart from Oxford City, he says that Birmingham City could also be in the running for his signature as Tottenham’s former assistant coach, Chris Davies, who has now taken over as the manager at St Andrew’s, is a fan of the youngster.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham might be leaning towards sending Donley to Birmingham as Davies has seen the 19-year-old’s ability first-hand and would likely be willing to make him one of the fulcrums of his side.

Given Daives’ footballing philosophy, we also know that the Midlands side are likely to be a possession-based, high-pressing side next season.

Report: Borussia Dortmund make 'massive offer' to try and poach young Spurs sensation

Borussia Dortmund make an attempt at signing 16-year-old Tottenham academy product, Mikey Moore, before he signs a professional contract with Spurs.

Mikey Moore is Tottenham’s next Hotspur Way starlet

Moore instantly caught the attention of Tottenham fans as well as the wider media when he was just fifteen as he smashed in three goals and notched four assists in just ten Premier League U18 games, playing three years up, Mikey was playing as if he was an established professional. (TransferMarkt)

Following those impressive showings both in 2022/23 and 2023/24 for Tottenham’s youth teams, manager Ange Postecoglou called the winger up to the senior team’s bench at just 16.

Mikey was thrown into Premier League football in May against Manchester City, making him the club’s youngest-ever Premier League player. (Tottenham Hotspur Website)

Tottenham were quick to realise Mikey’s talent however and the interest it would subsequently attract and therefore tied him down to a ‘long-term’ contract that will turn professional on Moore’s 17th birthday on August 11th of this year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It was a huge deal at the time due to the interest the winger was reportedly attracting from ‘rivals in England and abroad’. (The Athletic)

Borussia Dortmund trying to prize Moore away from Tottenham

A report from Football Insider claims that Mikey Moore is seen as a ‘huge talent’ by the Champions League runners-up and that they have made the youngster ‘a massive offer to move to Germany’.

The story explains that Moore is ‘hugely regarded at Spurs’ with the club seeing him as a ‘future first-team star’ but claims the currently 16-year-old is ‘unable to sign a professional contract with Spurs until he turns 17’, which has ‘provided a window for Dortmund to try and tempt him away’.

This report obviously contradicts the one published by The Athletic last year who claim Moore has already agreed to a professional contract that will come into effect when he turns 17.

Spurs Web Opinion

I personally believe it’s unlikely that Moore, who has according to the usually reliable source of The Athletic, has already agreed to a deal that will come into effect when he is 17, would move away from Spurs after Postecoglou clearly rates the youngster and is being given opportunities already at just 16.

Borussia Dortmund do hold a reputation for developing young players and Moore wouldn’t be the first to make the switch with both Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham enjoying successful spells at the club, but I find it hard to see Spurs let such a highly-rated academy product leave in what Tottenham know will be an unpopular move.

Tottenham as well as West Ham have reportedly ‘joined the race’ to sign 22-year-old winger

Jaden Philogene is impressing big clubs across Europe

Hull City signed English winger, Jaden Philogene, from Aston Villa in September of 2023 for £4.92 million following the player’s impressive loan at Cardiff (TransferMarkt).

A year and eighteen goal contributions later, Philogene is now being linked with various Premier League clubs. (TransferMarkt)

The recent rumour of interest in Philogene has come from Catalonia with La Liga titans, Barcelona with Relevo in Spain stating, ‘contacts have already begun’ between Hull and Barcelona with the club perceiving Philogene as a suitable ‘plan B’ after they see Nico Williams as becoming ‘unfeasible’.

Although a recent report claims that Barcelona may have a fight on their hands in their pursuit of the former Villa man with West Ham and Tottenham now ramping up their interest in the player who has caught plenty of attention for his skills and incredible rabona goal in February.

Spurs show concrete interest in Philogene

Football Insider are reporting that Championship side, Hull City, is ‘anticipating the departure’ of their star forward this summer with it potentially being the most valuable time to sell the player with only ‘two years to run’ on his current deal.

The report claims that West Ham has already started to make steps towards signing Philogene, entering ‘preliminary talks’ over a move for the winger with moves being pushed by technical director, Tim Stiedten.

Tottenham’s interest is ‘concrete’ in the player with Postecoglou’s team having a suitable attraction for Philogene who reportedly is ‘keen to play at the highest level’ after dropping to the Championship last season in a bid to establish himself.

Spurs Web Opinion

Philogene is a player who I have watched plenty of across the course of the Championship season, frequently impressing me with his ability in one-on-one situations.

The Hull winger possesses plenty of individual flair and skill which I believe would quickly make him a fan favourite.

Moans inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium towards the end of last season would often be derived from the team, and specifically, wide player’s lack of confidence or ability to beat their man and drive at defences. Philogene is a player tailor-made to fix this issue.

Report: Galatasaray are now being linked with two Tottenham midfielders

Description

The Turkish champions have reportedly made one Spurs midfielder their top target but have been offered a second by the player’s agents this summer.

It’s been widely reported that former Southampton midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, is one of a number of players that Tottenham will be willing to let go this summer, with Football.London reporting that Hojbjerg looks ‘on course to move permanently this summer due to a lack of first-team football’.

The Danish international is believed to only have a single year remaining on his deal and has plenty of suitors. One long-term admirer is Atletico Madrid, Simeone’s side have ‘rekindled’ their interest according to the Daily Mail following a failed pursuit of Hojbjerg in January. (Daily Mail)

Galatasaray are the latest team to be linked to Hojbjerg with Turkish outlet Sabah claiming a week ago that there have been ‘hot developments’ on both the ‘player front and club level’ regarding the possibility of signing Hojbjerg.

Galatasaray will wait on Hojbjerg before deciding on Bentancur

The Yellow-Reds reportedly are aiming to improve their midfield with Hojbjerg, who has struggled for consistent game time this season, being the club’s ‘priority target’ for the summer. (Sporx)

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report also states that the Turkish side has been ‘offered Rodrigo Bentancur through agents’, but Galatasaray will await a ‘clear answer’ from Hojbjerg before making any moves for the Uruguayan.

The reported ‘market value’ for Hojbjerg is ’18 million euros’, which could be seen as a smart deal from Tottenham considering the player could agree to a pre-contract deal with Galatasaray in just six months.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s become very apparent over the last few months that Hojbjerg will exit the club, ideally this summer. As much as Hojbjerg has been helpful this season amidst an injury crisis, his slower style of play often makes him frustrating in midfield and can kill promising attacks.

As for Galatasaray’s interest, it’s likely Hojbjerg will merely go to the highest bidder this summer, be that Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, or another club who decides to swoop in.

A deal to sell the Dane this summer though should be key with a fee and his wages off the books necessary instead of him simply leaving at the end of his current deal.

Report: Tottenham are listening to loan offers for 12

Description

According to BBC Sport, Tottenham academy striker Jude Soonsup-Bell is attracting plenty of interest from EFL clubs.

Soonsup-Bell has been a hit for Tottenham

Soonsup-Bell arrived at Spurs from Chelsea with a big reputation 18 months ago and he has blossomed at Hotspur Way, with the striker netting 12 goals and providing seven assists across all competitions for the Under-21s last season (Transfermarkt).

It was reported by The Mirror transfer blog update (14:22 25/6/24) last week that a few clubs showed interest in signing the 20-year-old on loan in January but the Lilywhites knocked back those approaches.

However, the report claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s men could change their stance this summer and could be receptive to loan offers for the player ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Spurs listening to loan offers for Soonsup-Bell

If BBC Sport is to be believed, Tottenham are already ‘fielding offers’ for Soonsup-Bell, having made him available on loan.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that the youngster is attracting both loan and permanent interest, with multiple clubs said to have reached out to Spurs over a potential deal.

Tottenham are also in talks with Oxford United to potentially send Soonsup-Bell’s Hotspur Way teammate, Jamie Donley, out on loan.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be quite surprised if Tottenham sold Soonsup-Bell this summer.

Even if Postecoglou and co do not view him as a first-team prospect, his market value is only likely to go up over the next 12 months if he keeps developing the same way and impresses out on loan.

Spurs star is worth £100m and will get a new two

Despite now being into his thirties, a former Premier League club chief still values Son at ‘around’ £100m and has predicted a new two-year contract for the Spurs star.

Heung-min Son is still going strong at Spurs

Heung-Min Son has cemented himself as a Tottenham icon over the past ten years, raising his level to become a player who scored above ten league goals on a fairly regular basis.

In spite of Harry Kane leaving last summer, Son remained and was awarded captaincy by new boss, Postecoglou.

The South Korean international penned a four-year deal in 2021, but that contract is nearing its final year, and former Everton chief (now an elite club consultant). Keith Wyness, has expressed his expectation for Tottenham to offer their skipper another two years in London.

Son, who is rapidly approaching his 32nd birthday, was reportedly of interest to Saudi Arabian clubs last season but the player himself expressed how he was living his ‘dream’ playing for Spurs in the Premier League (Reuters).

Rumours of a Saudi move have continued though with GiveMeSport reporting that Saudi clubs are still ‘interested’.

MORE SPURS STORIES

‘Tottenham will want to tie him down to another two years’

The 31-year-old recorded twenty-seven goal contributions in his thirty-five league appearances this season (TransferMarkt), a number that was a lot closer to the level Son has created for himself following a below-par season before.

Expert, Wyness, however, described it as a ‘pretty poor season’ but still valued the forward at ‘around the £100 million mark’. (Football Insider)

Wyness, talking to Football Insider’s podcast, explained how he concludes ‘I do think they’ll increase his wages, but I don’t think it will be a big increase’. The former Everton chief reckons the deal will be a ‘two-year contract’ which would see Son play for Spurs until he was almost 34.

Discussions of a new deal for Tottenham’s marquee forward, who was shoehorned for some of the season into a striker position, have been rumbling on for a while with GiveMeSport claiming back in March that ‘talks are ongoing’ having started in 2023 with the club seeking ‘to take the next step in negotiations’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think almost every single Tottenham fan will be happy to see Son stay around at Tottenham for the upcoming seasons, in whatever capacity that evolves to be as the current captain continues to age into his thirties.

It was still a successful season numerically for Son despite him frequently being frustratingly lost in games when deployed as a striker, however, with Richarlison back fit next season and a new centre-forward possibly joining, Son could be back to his best next season.

Report: Tottenham now ‘working on a move’ to sign Archie Gray; talks taking place

Description

It has been a whirlwind 24 hours in the Archie Gray transfer saga as he is now set for Tottenham talks despite having undergone a medical at Brentford on Saturday.

It has been reported for some time now that Spurs have an interest in 18-year-old Leeds star, Archie Gray. However, it seemed last night, following reports from The Athletic, that the midfielder who can also play right back was set to sign for Thomas Frank’s Brentford in a £35 million deal.

The Athletic’s report detailed that Brentford has ‘manoeuvred themselves into the strongest position and are now working to close out a deal’, despite interest of ‘a host of Premier League and European teams’.

The landscape quickly changed however with The Athletic reporting the following morning (30/6/24) that Leeds had ‘officially rejected’ Brentford’s bid that was expected to be around £35 million, despite Gray having ‘underwent a medical’ for the Bee’s. Sky Sports revealed that a disagreement in payment schedule meant the offer was turned down.

Ben Jacobs stated how the deal would ‘allay Leeds’ PSR concerns’ with the club feeling that following Gray’s sale they would then comply with financial rules.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Gray is now ‘set for Tottenham talks’

Murmurs then started about Spurs remaining interested in Gray with Football Insider suggesting the club were looking to ‘plot a hijack’ move for the England U21 international. David Ornstein confirmed on Sunday morning via The Athletic that indeed Tottenham are moving towards signing the 18-year-old.

Ornstein stated that Spurs are ‘working on a move’ following Brentford’s rejected bid with discussions ‘continuing’ and an ‘expectation on all sides that a deal can be struck, although at present nothing has been finalised’.

The report states that the player himself is now interested in a move to North London stating Gray has ‘experienced a change of heart and is leaning towards joining Spurs if he departs Leeds’.

Gray is expected to ‘hold talks with Tottenham on Sunday’ and while personal terms ‘not yet in place a switch there [to Tottenham] is currently the direction of travel’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have a tendency to perform opportunistic transfers where a deal suddenly arises, and Levy and the club make their move.

This deal seems the perfect marriage of both an opportunistic move with Leeds needing the sale for PSR as well as the player suiting Postecoglou and Tottenham perfectly.

It’s not a surprise that Spurs are apparently long-term admirers of Archie Gray with his versatility at such a young age being an attraction for any club, especially for Spurs who need more depth in central midfield, as well as right back, where Gray has operated for Leeds United last season.

The transfer saga of Archie Gray has taken another turn as Spurs seek to the hijack deal after Brentford’s £40m bid has now been rejected.

Spurs set to move for Gray

David Ornstein announced via The Athletic on Saturday evening (29/6/24) that Brentford had ‘manoeuvred themselves into the strongest position’ despite the interest of clubs such as Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool. (Express)

Ben Jacobs later warned that there was ‘caution until the ink was dry’ from Brentford with Spurs being ‘one to watch’ with the deal not being completely done regardless of an organised medical and ‘agreed personal terms’.

A new report by The Athletic on Sunday morning (30/6/24) has revealed that the arranged £35 million move to Brentford has now been ‘officially rejected’ with the player even having ‘underwent’ a medical the previous night. Sky Sports revealed that the rejection was due to two clubs being unable to ‘reach agreement on the payment structure’.

Spurs remain ‘strongly interested’ and are now eyeing a sensational hijack move for Gray

Football Insider reported on Sunday (30/6/24) that ‘Tottenham are plotting a sensational move to hijack Brentford’s deal for Leeds United star Archie Gray’. Spurs are reportedly a club who have ‘longstanding interest’ in Gray who was a huge part of Leeds United’s promotion push last season at just 18.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The breakout star is reportedly now ‘expected to leave Elland Road this summer’ with the Yorkshire-based club needing to sell before Sunday’s PSR deadline, with Spurs now reported to be ‘plotting a last-ditch attempt’.

Spurs Web Opinion

A hijack move would now be a lot simpler than it was twelve hours ago with the Brentford’s bid being rejected, leaving Spurs potentially an open run to secure Gray’s services.

The fee for Gray shouldn’t take much negotiating either with his value now openly known to be around £35/£40 million.

This transfer saga appears to be moving very quickly now, likely due to the PSR deadline which I obviously the incentive for Leeds to sell their prized teenage star.

It could be a busy day or two at Hotspur Way should Spurs launch a bid of their own to try and make a very impressive first permanent summer signing.
