Description

According to BBC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are currently in talks with Oxford United over a deal to send Jamie Donley on a season-long loan deal.

Jamie Donley could get a loan next season

Donley, who was one of the main architects of the Spurs Under-21s charge to the title last season, is rated quite highly at Hotspur Way, with the 19-year-old having already been handed several first-team opportunities by Ange Postecoglou this season.

It was reported by GiveMeSport a couple of days ago that several EFL sides had made an approach to sign the teenager on a temporary deal.

The outlet claimed that the latest club to enter the race were newly promoted Championship side Oxford United.

Oxford United want to sign Jamie Donley on loan

It was explained that while Spurs were open-minded about the possibility of allowing Donley to leave on loan, they are careful to ensure that the youngster gets game time at the club that he joins.

MORE SPURS STORIES

BBC Sport have now also backed up Oxford’s interest in the Tottenham academy graduate and they state that the EFL side are currently locked in talks with the North London club.

The publication asserts that even though several Championship sides have expressed an interest in Donley, Oxford have now moved into pole position for his signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s priority would be to ensure that Donely joins a club which plays possession-based football and one where he has the best chance of being a guaranteed starter.

I would not be surprised if Spurs preferred to send the youngster to a League One side rather than a Championship outfit.

Report: Spurs admit defeat in transfer pursuit as Barcelona strike a blow

Description

According to Sport, Barcelona have successfully managed to ward off interest from Tottenham and other clubs to tie academy starlet Dani Rodriguez to a new contract.

Spurs were linked with Dani Rodriguez

Although Rodriguez is yet to break into Barca’s first team, the La Masia graduate has been delivering eye-catching displays at the youth level, with a number of sides, including Spurs, said to be following the 18-year-old’s progress.

Tottenham’s interest in the 18-year-old first came to light back in March when Mundo Deportivo reported that the Catalan club were trying to keep the youngster out of the clutches of the Lilywhites by tying him down to a new contract.

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Barca have now successfully managed to do so, with Rodriguez now having agreed on a long-term deal at Camp Nou.

Spurs will find it hard to sign Dani Rodriguez

The report claims that Spurs, Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Sociedad had all made contact with the teenager’s entourage as his old deal is set to run out this month.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the Blaugrana allegedly view the winger as a future first-team prospect and they have now successfully managed to persuade him to commit his future to the club.

This seemingly brings an end to any summer transfer saga surrounding the Barca youngster.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Johan Lange making it clear that Tottenham want to be the go-to destination for the best-emerging talent in Europe, it is not surprising to hear that the club explored a move to sign Rodriguez, who, by all accounts, is very highly thought of in Spain.

I’m sure he won’t be the last youngster linked with Tottenham this summer.

Why we are not hearing much about Tottenham transfer plans

Description

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that the reason we are not hearing as many stories about Tottenham’s transfer pursuits in the press is partly down to the way Johan Lange works.

Johan Lange brings a new style to Tottenham

In his latest column, Gold compares the styles of Lange and Tottenham’s former managing director, Fabio Paritici.

He explains that Paratici is very much a front-of-house sporting director type and has no issues stepping into the public eye while Lange likes working behind the scenes.

The Italian is said to have connections with a lot of super-agents and big agencies, and he tends to identify several players for each position and negotiate simultaneously for all of them to get the best deal.

As a result, Gold explains that a lot of Tottenham’s transfer moves ended up being leaked to the press by various agents and clubs.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Paratici did things differently at Tottenham

In contrast, Lange is described as a ‘quiet person’ and someone who likes to get on with his job without any noise or fuss.

The Dane is also said to prefer a data-driven approach and tends to concentrate most of his efforts on the targets he believes matter the most.

Thus, a lot of his dealings are often not public information and many of his transfers at Aston Villa came out of the blue, with the negotiations often at an advanced stage before the media picked up on it.

This is perhaps a reason why this summer has been relatively quiet for Tottenham in terms of transfer rumours, with Gold stating that the club prefer operating in this manner.

The journalist reveals that the Lilywhites made some missteps with ‘club signings’ in the past, signing players who did not fit into the manager’s system and that is something Lange was brought in to remedy.

Gold adds that Tottenham’s current technical director is keen to ensure that all the players who come through the door at Hotpsur Way are ideal fits for Ange Postecoglou’s system and philosophy.

Spurs Web Opinion

During the Paratici era, it was almost public knowledge who Tottenham’s top targets were for each position but that does not seem to be the case any longer.

While this might be a little frustrating for the supporters, it is prudent for the club to operate this way.

Report: Tottenham have no intention of meeting £50m price tag this summer, despite interest

The Times claim that Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of meeting Chelsea’s asking price for Conor Gallagher this summer.

Tottenham are linked with Conor Gallagher

Most Spurs fans will be tired of the Gallagher speculation by now, with rumours linking him with a move to Tottenham going strong over the past 12 months.

With the midfielder now into the final year of his deal at Chelsea, Ange Postecoglou’s men might see this summer as the ideal time to make a move for the England international.

However, over the last few weeks, several outlets have revealed that the 24-year-old is not keen on leaving his boyhood club this summer and that Chelsea are coming around to the idea of handing him a new deal if he rejects a move (HITC).

Spurs will not pay £50m for Gallagher

The Times have now backed up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Chelsea are open to cashing in on Gallagher but they value their academy graduate at £50m.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that while Tottenham remain keen on signing the midfielder, they have no intention of meeting the Blues’ valuation of the player.

The report does not mention how high Spurs are willing to go for Gallagher this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would still expect Spurs to test the waters with an offer of around £35m or so over the coming weeks but if that is turned down, the Lilywhites will likely swiftly turn their attention to other alternatives.

Report reveals what Tottenham have told intermediaries about midfielder

Description

TEAMtalk have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have reached out to agents to help facilitate Giovani Lo Celso’s sale and that the club are open to using the midfielder in part-exchange offers for their transfer targets.

Giovani Lo Celso is set for Spurs exit this summer

The report claims Tottenham are now ‘desperate’ to offload Lo Celso quickly this summer, with the silky left-footer appearing to have no long-term future at the club under Ange Postecoglou.

It is suggested that the Spurs head coach has seen enough of the Argentine and feels that he does not add to his squad in any meaningful way.

As a result, the Lilywhites have reportedly asked various intermediaries as well as Lo Celso’s agent to help find a new club for the player.

It is alleged that the possibility of using him as part of a deal to sign Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey has also been floated by the North London club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Lo Celso is said to prefer to return to Spain

Lo Ceslo’s preference is said to be a return to Spain, with his former club Real Betis hopeful of re-signing him.

However, the La Liga club still have a lot of work to do to strike a deal since they are only prepared to pay an £8m transfer fee for the midfielder while Tottenham are demanding around £12m.

Lo Celso is currently on international duty with Argentina at Copa America where they next face Peru in the early hours of Sunday morning (01:00 UK time).

The 28-year-old has been at Spurs since 2020 and has played 108 games for the club across all competions. His current deal runs until June 2025.

He was loaned out to Villarreal in the second half of 2021/22 and the whole 2022/23 campaign but has failed to break into Postecoglou’s plans upon his return to N17.

Spurs Web Opinion

I get the feeling that Ange would not mind having Lo Celso around as a squad option as the Argentine is a decent fit for the Australian’s system.

I suspect that it is the midfielder who has made up his mind to leave in search of regular first-team football.

Report: Ange Postecoglou has been full of praise for midfield target

Description

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been praising one of the club’s rumoured transfer targets.

Tottenham could look to refresh their midfield options this summer

As Fabrizio Romano stated on X in May, ‘many players expected to leave THFC this summer’. One of which is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who continues to be linked with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid as well as Turkish media outlet, Sporx, now suggesting the Dane could move to Galatasaray.

It will leave a void in central midfield with one of the strongest links being Chelsea captain, Conor Gallagher.

Gallagher was reported in May by the Mirror to be a player of ‘long-standing interest’ with Spurs ready to move for the England international if Chelsea decide ‘to entertain a sale’. The Guardian later reported that The Blues are ‘expecting’ a bid to arrive from Tottenham.

Aston Villa are recently also reported to be of interest, with The Villains and Chelsea having recently organised deals for Ian Maatsen and Omari Kellyman, with both clubs believed to be under FFP pressure Tottenham may have to wrestle that loyalty to sign Gallagher. (GiveMeSport)

HITC has reported upon Postecoglou’s comments he made as part of ITV’s coverage of England v Slovenia where pre-game Gallagher was announced to be introduced to the starting eleven to try and fix Southgate’s midfield woes.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Postecoglou was explaining how the 24-year-old helps teams with his ability ‘to regain the ball’, shortly after praising Gallagher’s widely recognised ‘energy’ with the Cobham graduate frequently being noticed for his bundles of energy and incredible amount of ground covered.

Gallagher appears to have earned the appreciation of Postecoglou

Gallagher was clearly someone Ange had studied closely by explaining ‘the thing with Conor is he will run and break lines. Sometimes he won’t even receive the ball because his running capacity disrupts oppositions’.

With Tottenham struggling to disrupt the opposition’s low blocks towards the end of the season, it’s understandable following the Australian’s analysis of Gallagher why, as HITC reported, Spurs and Postecoglou ‘remain keen on the player’.

He said: “It is about the energy and his ability to regain the football. Conor (Gallagher) is the one who jumps. He won’t sit.

“Gareth (Southgate) also mentioned his ability to run and break lines – the thing with Conor is that he will run and break lines. Sometimes he won’t even receive the ball because his running capacity disrupts oppositions.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The rumours between Tottenham and Gallagher seem to be an ever-present since the initial links in January and following Postecoglou’s comments as part of his EURO’s punditry it’s clear to see why.

Richarlison has taken to social media to dismiss suggestions that Tottenham have offered him to Newcastle United as a part of a player plus cash deal to sign Alexander Isak.

Richarlison was linked with move to Newcastle United

Isak continues to be mooted as a target for Spurs, with various outlets indicating that the North London club would even be prepared to shatter their transfer record to bring the centre-forward to the club this summer (Football Insider).

On Wednesday, Gianluca Di Marzio asserted that Newcastle are desperate to raise funds before the end of the month to ensure they do not fall four of PSR and are said to be willing to listen to offers for the Swede.

The journalist suggested that the Magpies had received several bids for their star striker, one of which came from Spurs, who had allegedly offered cash plus Richarlison in exchange for the 24-year-old.

When this transfer update was shared on Instagram by The Spurs News, the Tottenham striker responded to the post, insisting that the report was fake.

Richarlison takes to social meda to deny transfer speculation

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is not the first time Richarlison has denied a transfer rumour since the end of the Premier League campaign after he poured cold water on speculation of a switch to Saudi Arabia in May.

Various sources had suggested that the former Everton man is on the radar of several Saudi clubs, including Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal, who are thought to be keen on securing his services this summer (The Daily Mail).

Spurs Web Opinion

This is not the first time that Richarlison has publicly dismissed a transfer rumour linking him with a move away from Tottenham.

It is pretty clear that the striker wants to and expects to stay at the club next season.

Report: Tottenham end pursuit of England U21 star, as Southampton open talks

Description

Spurs have watched England U21 defender, Ronnie Edwards, closely but decided to not progress interest further as Southampton open talks.

Spurs were linked with Ronnie Edwards

Tottenham’s interest in Peterborough’s Ronnie Edwards has been well documented for some time with the now 21-year-old collecting various big clubs’ attention throughout the past few years.

Back when Nuno Espírito Santo had been installed as manager in September of 2021, Football Insider reported that Spurs had ‘set their sights’ on Edwards after scouting the player for Peterborough’s academy as well as his brief features for the senior side.

The Daily Mail also reported almost a year later that Spurs hadn’t lost their interest in Peterborough’s young star claiming that the club were ‘taking note of Edwards’.

Football Insider even claimed months later that Peterborough were ‘braced for bids from Spurs and other clubs’, with 2022 seemingly being the height of Tottenham’s interest, although it’s unclear as to whether a bid was ever made.

Newly promoted Saints in ‘pole position’ to sign Ronnie Edwards

Pete O’Rourke reported on Thursday (27/6/24) via Football Insider that Russel Martin’s Southampton are set to have the ‘financial flex to prise Edwards from London Road’ off the back of being victorious in the financially lucrative play-off final which will have granted Southampton more money to play with this summer.

Although the report confirms that Edwards is still held in ‘high regard’ among people at Spurs, the club has decided to ‘not pursue their interest any further at this stage’, freeing the path for Southampton to try and agree a deal for the defender.

The Posh defender has impressively already made 142 senior appearances for the club since joining from Barnet’s academy aged 17 in 2020 (TransferMarkt).

However, it appears as though the south-coast side will look for further defensive improvements with Joe Rodon being mooted as a potential signing as part of a swap deal involving striker Carlos Alcaraz. (Daily Mail)

Spurs Web Opinion

Edwards wouldn’t be involved in the England U21s for such a long period of time if he wasn’t a player of quality as well as tremendous potential, however, it’s likely that a move to a club like Southampton will better aid his development than likely being handed spare minutes at Tottenham.

Signing the Peterborough youngster would likely have cut off pathways for upcoming defensive Spurs stars, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington, with Edwards perhaps suiting a move to Tottenham in previous seasons, with the ship possibly having sailed now.

Report: Four clubs interested in out

Description

The future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been one of the hottest topics of the summer when it comes to Tottenham with the midfielder impressing at Euro 2024.

According to The Times, the race for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s signature is now heating up, with the Dane on the wishlist of four different sides across Europe.

With Hojbjerg having just a year left on his contract at Spurs, it looks inevitable that the 28-year-old’s four-year stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would come to an end this summer.

Earlier this month, the midfielder’s agent Luca Puccinelli, publicly admitted what has been an open secret for a long time, confirming that he is on the lookout for a new club for his client, with the Italian agent confirming that the player wants to move to a club where he can compete for silverware (Fabrizio Romano).

He said: “A player like him will surely be part of a club with great ambition or project because he is not just a strong player, but with a character made to fight for important things every year. Pierre feel comfortable in the pressure to win and I am working in this sense.

“He is telling me that every year he dream of trophies in the end of the season and don’t like to play for nothing. This is his mindset, this is the mission.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I am working on the many requests that we have already received, yes; but we will analyse all the possibilities after the Euros, during the holidays when we will spend some time together and then look forward to the next chapter”.

Hojbjerg has plenty of interest this summer

The Times have now said that Hojbjerg’s list of admirers is continuing to grow on the back of the Tottenham man’s impressive showing at the Euros for Denmark.

The report says that to date, four different sides have expressed interest in taking the 28-year-old off Tottenham’s hands this summer.

Among those four are thought to be Atletico Madrid and Napoli, where former Spurs boss Antonio Conte is now in charge.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hojbjerg is a model professional and he would not want to deal with any transfer distractions while he is at the Euros.

I would expect negotiations over his future to speed up once Denmark exit the tournament.

Description

According to GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur are open to loaning out Jamie Donley this summer, with a whole host of EFL clubs interested in a temporary deal for the attacking midfielder.

Jamie Donley had an impressive 2023/24 season

Donley had an outstanding campaign for Tottenham’s Under-21s last season, playing a crucial role in their path to Premier League 2 success.

Ange Postecoglou evidently rates the Spurs academy graduate very highly, with the Australian handing him three Premier League appearances in 2023-24 (Transfermarkt).

GiveMeSport have now claimed that the 19-year-old could be allowed to leave the club on a temporary basis ahead of the new season in order to get competitive minutes under his belt.

The report explains that several EFL clubs have expressed an interest in taking the teenager on board, with Tottenham ‘tempted’ to allow the youngster to test himself at that level.

However, it is revealed that the Lilywhites are cautious about the decision and want to ensure that Donley gets regular game time if he is to make a loan move.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Oxford United are keen on Donley loan deal

The latest club to express interest are Oxford United, who have secured promotion to the Championship via the Playoffs and will be playing in English football’s second tier for the first time in 25 years.

The publication adds that Tottenham are ‘open-minded’ about Donley’s future and are ‘waiting to be convinced’ where he has the best chance of developing next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Postecoglou decided to keep Donley, Will Lankshear and other youngsters at the club for the first half of the campaign and give them some game time in the Europa League, before exploring loan options for them in January.
