One former Tottenham defender has spoken about his experience working under Antonio Conte and how he felt when the club made the decision to part ways with the Italian.

Injuries prevented wing-back from fulfilling his potential

Ryan Sessegnon arrived at Tottenham with a huge reputation back in 2019 and when the youngster finally started playing regularly under Antonio Conte, many expected him to kick on and fulfil his potential.

The Englishman was the ideal Conte wing-back, being strong defensively in one vs one, having the engine to get up and down the pitch and the strength to win duals.

However, injuries prevented the Englishman from being a hit at Tottenham, with the wide-man eventually leaving after his contract ran down last summer and returning to Fulham on a free transfer.

Ryan Sessegnon on Antonio Conte

Sessegnon made just 38 appearances for Spurs over five years and the overwhelming majority of those came in Antonio Conte’s 15 months in charge.

The Fulham man understandably enjoyed working under the 55-year-old, admitting that he learned a lot from the experienced coach.

Sessegnon told Rising Ballers: “Then Antonio Conte came in, he was intense, but in a good way, he was a very good coach. I loved him to be honest with you, a very good coach, honest, and he helped me a lot. He made us run, but, tactically, one of the best coaches I’ve ever worked under.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked how he felt when Conte was sacked, the former Tottenham man responded: “It hurt me a little bit, the relationship I and Conte had was good. But they made their decision to get rid of him, and we just had to get on with it I guess.”

One of the few disappointed by Conte’s departure

One can understand why Sessegonon as a wing-back enjoyed working under Conte, but it is fair to say that he was one of the only few players at the club who was sad to see the Italian go.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been holding his pre-Rangers press conference at Ibrox this evening, but he has some bad injury news for Spurs fans.

Spurs injury crisis continues into Christmas

The North Londoners come up against an in-form Rangers side who have four consecutive wins to their name, which includes a 4-1 win at Nice which saw them go above Tottenham in eighth place in the Europa League table on goal difference.

The past two fixtures in Europe have seen Spurs fail to win having lost at Galatasaray and were held to a 2-2 draw at home at AS Roma last time out.

Tottenham’s injury problems continued in the 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday when Cristian Romero was forced off in the first half with a quad problem, while fellow central defender Micky van de Ven who had only just returned from his hamstring issues was also replaced in the 79th minute.

Reports from Argentina have suggested that Romero could be set to miss the next six weeks through injury in what would be a huge blow to Tottenham’s hopes of turning their season around.

Let’s take a look at the latest Tottenham injury news from Ange Postecoglou himself.

Postecoglou delivers Tottenham injury news

Postecoglou told the latest Tottenham injury news to Football London: “Not much better. With the weekend’s fallout, Romero and Van de Ven, we’re still getting clarity over the injuries but we’re going to be without them again. At the moment we’re still trying to get timelines on those guys so I wouldn’t put a time on it yet.”

The Tottenham boss is able to call upon Rodrigo Bentancur to freshen up his midfield with the Uruguayan able to play in European competition despite still serving his domestic ban.

The Europa League game between Rangers and Tottenham is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm GMT at the Ibrox Stadium and will be shown live on TNT Sports 1.

Tottenham fans organise mass protest against Daniel Levy and club hierarchy

Description

Discontent among Tottenham fans has reached a boiling point, with supporters uniting for a planned protest to demand changes at the top. The movement signals a growing unrest, with the fans ready to voice their concerns against Daniel Levy and the direction the club is heading.

Growing pressure on Tottenham’s hierarchy

The pressure on Tottenham Hotspur’s leadership has been mounting in recent months, with head coach Ange Postecoglou caught in the crossfire of criticism from a frustrated fan base.

The Tottenham boss has faced questions about his ability to deliver consistent results, but it is increasingly evident that much of the fan anger is directed elsewhere.

It is clear now that a significant portion of Spurs supporters has turned their attention to chairman Daniel Levy, accusing him of failing to adequately support managers in the transfer market.

Fans argue that the club’s recruitment strategy has left Tottenham unable to compete with the Premier League’s elite, resulting in repeated disappointments.

The sentiment has also found resonance among pundits, with Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher adding his voice to the chorus of criticism.

Speaking on the lack of success under Levy’s tenure, Carragher remarked: “It’s probably time for someone else to come in because to not win a trophy in that period of time with the managers they have had… someone else needs to be in charge of this football club.”

Tottenham Hotspur fans organise a protest against Daniel Levy

Tottenham fans have now taken matters into their own hands, organising a peaceful protest to demand changes in the club’s ownership structure.

When is the protest?

The protest is set to take place at 3 pm on Sunday, 22 December, coinciding with the Premier League fixture against Liverpool, which kicks off at 4:30 pm UK time.

Where is the Tottenham fan protest?

Supporters will gather opposite the club shop on the high road, hoping to draw attention to their grievances.

The organisers have chosen a high-profile moment for the demonstration, aiming to make their message heard on a day of increased media coverage.

A tweet announcing the protest stated: “Time to make a change. You can laugh, but if you really want to try HELP change the way this club is operated, please come and peacefully protest against this ownership structure with us.”

The protest highlights the growing divide between the fan base and the current leadership, with many feeling that their concerns have gone unheard for far too long.

The squad’s concerns mirror fan frustration

The frustrations expressed by the supporters are echoed within the Tottenham dressing room, with players voicing concerns over the club’s inability to assemble a squad capable of challenging for major honours.

Tottenham vice-captain Cristian Romero recently acknowledged the limitations of the team compared to their rivals, emphasising the lack of consistent investment in strengthening the squad.

Romero’s candid remarks were interesting: “Manchester City competes every year, you see how Liverpool strengthens its squad, Chelsea strengthens their squad…

“Those are the things to imitate. Hopefully, they realise it. The last few years, it’s always the same: first, the players, then the coaching staff changes, and it’s always the same people responsible.”

With such concerns coming from within, it is clear that the unrest surrounding Tottenham’s leadership is not limited to the stands but extends to the heart of the team.

As Tottenham prepare for a crucial match against Liverpool, all eyes will be on how the events of Sunday unfold, both on and off the pitch. The protest marks a pivotal moment for the club, and the question remains whether the message will resonate with those at the top.

When Mikey Moore is expected to return from virus at Spurs

Description

Mikey Moore has been sidelined by an unknown ‘virus’ since early November when Spurs faced Galatasaray and news has now been revealed about when he is likely to return.

Mikey Moore’s breakthrough season at Spurs

Mikey Moore has caused a lot of hype while playing for Tottenham this season. Although just 17-years-old, he has already appeared 10 times for the senior side, with eight of those coming this season.

Although he has yet to secure a goal contribution in the men’s first team, Moore has impressed with his confident play on the ball and superb dribbling, which has perhaps prematurely seen him compared with a young Lionel Messi by supporters.

But it has been a difficult few weeks for Moore, as he has now missed seven matches in all competitions due to an unnamed virus.

With Timo Werner’s disappointing performances and Heung-min-Son also spending some time on the sidelines, due to injury, Moore may have made a few more appearances, had he not been struck down by his illness.

Mikey Moore’s Spurs return will not be imminent

Many supporters will be wondering when Mikey Moore is expected to return to Spurs training. New information has now been revealed, and we could be in for a wait.

Speaking on The Tottenham Way podcast, Dan Kilpatrick has explained that one of the symptoms of Moore’s illness has meant he has not been able to play football and will keep him out beyond the conclusion of this year.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Listing a number of unavailable Spurs players, he said: “You consider at the moment that Vicario is out with a contact injury. Romero was out with a contact injury. Bentancur is suspended, that’s an anomaly if you like, Mikey Moore is recovering from an energy-sapping virus, so he will be out until the new year.”

Tottenham’s underwhelming left-winger options

Although Son is now fully fit, he faced a lot of criticism for his performance against Chelsea, despite scoring a late consolation goal, while Werner has been blasted for his poor finishing, but right now Spurs are lacking in other options without Moore.

Victor Wanyama wants Spurs squad to speak ‘some home truths’ to each other

Victor Wanyama believes the current Tottenham squad can turn their fortunes around and sends a message to his former teammates on what they should do.

Tottenham have dropped to the bottom-half

At the start of the season, there was a feeling of excitement around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with supporters expecting the Lilywhites to push on and build on their fifth-place finish in Ange Postecoglou‘s first season in charge.

However, instead, things have gone disastrously so far for the club, who are currently mired in mid-table mediocrity, dropping down to eleventh place in the table after their defeat to Chelsea.

The club’s terrible luck with injuries has not helped their cause, with Postecoglou having to do with several of his key players recently.

Victor Wanyama tells Spurs players what to do

Wanyama has admitted that he has been as surprised as everyone else about Spurs‘ inconsistency this season and suggested that they should approach every match like it is a big game.

The former Tottenham midfielder told Telecom Asia: “It’s been a tough season so far, and I think it’s clear to see they’ve been inconsistent. But it’s strange because they perform very well against teams that are up there, like Manchester City, but then they struggle against lower teams.

“Normally, if you’re in a situation like this, you have to see every game as a big game so you can approach every match with the same energy and focus.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Kenyan explained that during his time at, the players delivered some home truths to each other when things were not going well, suggesting that the same could work for the current Spurs squad.

He added: “When things were tough, we reminded each other that the next game was now or never. There were home truths spoken, and we would go back to the basics. I don’t want to say this was a long time ago because the basics are still the same.

“Form doesn’t mean much here. Think about it: last year when they beat us, we went into the game unbeaten and were huge favourites, but they ended up winning, so that won’t count for much.”

Victor Wanyama is still in touch with some Spurs stars

The Kenyan admitted that Tottenham still have a special place in his heart and that he keeps in touch with his former teammates, including Fraser Forster, who he played with at Southampton.

Tottenham open talks over potential double free transfer from the same club

Description

Tottenham Hotspur’s plans for the future are taking shape behind closed doors as Ange Postecoglou and his team look to secure two highly sought-after players from Lille in what could be a pivotal summer for the north London club.

Tottenham’s current struggles and their transfer response

Tottenham Hotspur may now be reflecting on their summer transfer dealings with some regret, particularly as the season unfolds with inconsistent results under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

While there have been flashes of the free-flowing football that Postecoglou was hired to deliver, the team has struggled to find consistency—a hallmark of successful campaigns.

In light of these challenges, Postecoglou has been proactive in addressing the squad’s shortcomings by engaging in discussions with Johan Lange, Tottenham’s Technical Director.

The aim of these conversations is to map out potential January reinforcements while also keeping an eye on the summer transfer window, where shrewd moves could reshape the squad.

Among the names linked to Spurs are Jonathan David and Angel Gomes, two standout players from Lille who are set to become free agents next summer.

Tottenham target Lille duo as free transfer opportunities arise

TBR Football reports that Tottenham Hotspur have initiated talks with the representatives of Jonathan David and Angel Gomes, as the north London club eyes potential free transfers to bolster their squad in the summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

With both players’ contracts set to expire at the end of the season, Spurs see a unique opportunity to add high-quality talent without incurring significant transfer fees.

It is understood that David is keen on a move to the Premier League, which only heightens Spurs’ interest.

Meanwhile, Angel Gomes is also drawing significant attention from Tottenham. The 23-year-old is reportedly garnering interest from a host of Premier League clubs, but Tottenham’s proactive approach could give them an advantage in the race for his signature.

Both players have already informed Lille of their intentions to leave at the end of the current season, opening the door for clubs like Tottenham to make their moves early.

While talks are still in the preliminary stages, the opportunity to sign two players of such calibre without paying transfer fees is proving to be an enticing prospect for Spurs.

A wider battle for signatures amid Premier League interest

The Lilywhites’ pursuit of Jonathan David and Angel Gomes will not be straightforward, as other Premier League clubs have also expressed interest in the Lille duo.

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring both players closely, with Christopher Vivell, their Technical Director, known to hold a particular admiration for the pair.

Arsenal, too, are rumoured to be weighing up a potential move, adding another layer of competition to the transfer saga.

Chelsea and Newcastle United have already scouted David this season, with Chelsea especially keen on bringing in a new number nine.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester City are said to be keeping tabs on Gomes, further highlighting his growing reputation in English football.

For the Lilywhites, securing these players would represent not only a significant coup in the transfer market but also a statement of intent under Ange Postecoglou’s leadership.

However, with competition heating up, the north London club will need to act decisively to turn early talks into successful negotiations, particularly as the summer approaches and the transfer window opens in earnest.

Tottenham should attempt to sign Jonathan David – and here’s why

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur could use a new centre forward and there is a top striker who could be available on a free transfer next summer – Jonathan David.

Tottenham need a new striker

Goals have not been a problem for Tottenham this season. Although there have been some poor attacking performances in matches like the North London derby and the 1-0 defeats to Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth, Spurs have found the back of the net 31 times in the Premier League, with only Chelsea scoring more.

But Tottenham’s goals this season have been spread amongst their first-team squad more so than in recent years, as they have become less reliant on the centre-forward, who for many years was Harry Kane.

In fact, Brennan Johnson is Tottenham’s top scorer in the league this season, but he only has six goals, which is less than half of the two players leading the race for the Golden Boot – Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

The shortcomings of Tottenham’s current options

Tottenham’s newest striker is Dominic Solanke and he has generally received praise for his performances since arriving from Bournemouth. However, with just five goals in the league, which is the same number James Maddison has scored, and eight big chances missed, he has not been clinical enough for Spurs, despite impressing with his all-round play.

Solanke’s best goalscoring campaign in the English top flight came last season, when he netted 19 times in 37 starts, which is still considerably less than Tottenham’s record goalscorer, Kane, who scored 30 times in two different seasons, while Spurs captain, Heung-min-Son, only scored two fewer goals than Solanke last season.

Therefore the key question must be, is Solanke a good enough goalscorer to start for Tottenham? Some would say no and even if the answer is yet, the issue of squad depth must be raised, with the Lilywhites lacking in options.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Richarlison has already been linked with a move away from Spurs and has spent much of his time at the club sidelined through injury. It is difficult to view him as a viable option when he cannot be relied on to be fit to play. Meanwhile, they also have Will Lankshear, but his red card against Galatasaray shows he still has a lot to learn.

Jonathan David could be the answer for Tottenham

Solanke is going nowhere and despite his modest goalscoring record so far, he is a useful player to Tottenham, but they need another striker if they are going to compete for trophies and one man they have recently been linked with signing is LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David.

David has long been on the North London sides’ radar, with scouts sent to watch him while he was still playing for Gent, and now it looks more likely than ever that a deal could be agreed, with the 24-year-old set to become a free agent next summer.

One of the most distinct features of David is his goal-scoring ability. He has already bagged 11 goals in 11 league starts for Lille this season, as well as notching in four goals in four starts in the Champions League, scoring against some quality teams including Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid and Juventus.

While a number of these goals have been penalties, they all count and his threat in front of goal appears to have consistently increased over the years.

Tottenham Hotspur’s top ten most expensive transfers of all-time – From Richarlison to Ndombele

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Once known for their caution in the transfer market, Tottenham Hotspur have gradually evolved into a club willing to break records. From exciting youngsters to seasoned professionals, Spurs’ biggest deals tell a story of ambition, risk, and evolution. Let’s take a look through the top ten most expensive Tottenham transfers of all-time.

The shifting tides of Tottenham’s transfer strategy

Tottenham Hotspur have long been seen as calculated operators in the transfer market, a reputation built on years of frugality and measured spending.

The club’s owners, often criticised for being overly conservative with their financial approach, have navigated a delicate balance between sustainable spending and competing with the financial might of their Premier League rivals.

In recent years, however, that narrative has begun to shift. Under the stewardship of managers like Antonio Conte and now Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have started to show a willingness to loosen their purse strings, albeit with a characteristic eye for value and long-term potential.

The arrivals of high-profile names such as James Maddison and Richarlison have signalled a change in approach—a calculated gamble to challenge for silverware while ensuring squad depth and quality.

The results of this change are striking, with six of Tottenham’s ten most expensive signings coming within the last two years.

Each deal tells a different story, from marquee signings brought in to make an immediate impact, to younger players signed with an eye on the future.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham’s acquisition of Micky van de Ven in the summer of 2023 raised eyebrows, not just for the fee, but for the promise the young defender brought with him.

Costing an initial £34.5 million—potentially rising to £44.5 million with add-ons—the pacey Dutchman has quickly shown why he was such a sought-after prospect. With his composure on the ball and speed in recovery, Van de Ven is proving to be a cornerstone of Tottenham’s defensive future.

Archie Gray joined Spurs in 2024 as one of England’s most promising midfielders. At just 18 years old, Tottenham paid a substantial £40 million to secure his services from Leeds United, a deal that also involved defender Joe Rodon moving in the opposite direction for £10 million.

Gray’s ability to dictate the tempo of play, his ability to play in multiple positions and his remarkable composure beyond his years have made him a player to watch and if he lives up to his potential, 40 million could be a bargain.

Pedro Porro’s move to Tottenham began as a loan deal in January 2023 before being made permanent that summer for approximately £40 million. The former Sporting CP right-back has become a vital part of the squad, whether he is inverting into midfield or offering attacking thrust down the flank, Porro has been a solid acquisition.

Having already proven his quality with Leicester City, James Maddison arrived at Tottenham in 2023 following Leicester’s relegation. Despite interest from other clubs, Maddison joined Spurs for £40 million and has swiftly become integral to the team, drawing comparisons to Christian Eriksen with his creative vision and ability to control matches.

Davinson Sanchez’s 2017 move from Ajax made him Tottenham’s most expensive signing at the time, with the club paying £42 million for the Colombian defender. While Sanchez showed promise, inconsistent performances led to his eventual departure in 2023 to Galatasaray.

Initially joining Tottenham on loan from Atalanta, Cristian Romero’s impressive performances prompted the club to make the deal permanent in 2022 for £42 million. The Argentine has been a defensive stalwart ever since, earning plaudits for his no-nonsense approach and leadership at the back.

In a last-minute deal during the 2023 summer transfer window, Brennan Johnson became one of Tottenham’s most exciting signings. The Welsh winger, brought in from Nottingham Forest for £47.5 million, offers goals, pace and creativity, with fans and pundits alike optimistic about his future at the club.

Richarlison’s £60 million transfer from Everton in 2022 marked a significant statement of intent from Spurs which was a good sign. However, things have not quite worked out for the Brazillian as injuries have prevented him from making a significant impact.

When Tottenham splashed £63 million on Tanguy Ndombele in 2019, expectations were sky-high. However, despite flashes of brilliance, the French midfielder failed to deliver consistently and eventually departed the club in 2024 after his contract was terminated.

Number one on our list of the top ten most expensive Tottenham transfers of all-time. The summer of 2024 saw Tottenham break their transfer record to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth. The deal, which includes £10 million in potential add-ons, brought in a proven goalscorer to lead the line under Postecoglou. The early signs suggest that Solanke could be the talisman Spurs have long sought.

The significance of these Tottenham investments

Tottenham’s recent transfer activity highlights a deliberate effort to blend established stars with emerging talents, creating a squad capable of competing across multiple competitions.

The likes of James Maddison and Richarlison bring Premier League experience, while younger players such as Archie Gray and Micky van de Ven offer a vision for the future.

This shift in strategy reflects a growing ambition at the club, one that aligns with their aspirations to compete at the highest levels domestically and in Europe.

While not every signing has been a success, the intent behind these deals cannot be questioned, and fans will hope these investments yield the rewards the club so desperately seeks.

Update on Tottenham’s search for a stadium naming rights partner

Description

The latest update reveals why the value of the naming rights of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has dwindled recently, but it explains that other market forces could still aid the Lilywhites in landing a bumper deal.

Tottenham are trying to find a naming rights partner

It has now been five and a half years since Spurs moved into their stadium but the club still do not have a naming rights partner yet.

TBR Football reveal that talks have continued behind the scenes all this time, with the club speaking to both Amazon and Google a little over a year ago.

More recently, the North London club are thought to have held discussions with DHL, the German logistics company, about a naming rights deal, but the outcome of these talks is unknown.

Why Tottenham might be at a disadvantage

The report explains that Daniel Levy is looking for around £200m over a minimum 10-year deal for their naming rights.

However, it is explained that non-virgin naming rights (the licence for a stadium that goes by another name) are worth considerably less than the licence for a new stadium.

It is revealed that many within the football finance industry are thus of the opinion that the value of Spurs’ stadium has dwindled significantly since it has been called ‘The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium‘ for over five years.

Market forces working to Tottenham’s advantage

However, TBR Football go on to add that the market has been galvanised by Allianz’s deal with England Rugby’s Twickenham Stadium and Riyadh Air’s with Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano.

Those deals, which are worth around £10m and £25m per year respectively, were both for non-virgin naming rights, thus paving the way for Spurs to demand a premium.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Rangers: Europa League Preview

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham head to Glasgow to face a red-hot Rangers side, hoping to halt their winless streak and avoid further Europa League embarrassment.

It’s been a bumpy ride for Spurs fans lately. From defensive collapses to injuries galore, Tottenham are stumbling into Ibrox hoping to salvage their Europa League campaign. Rangers, meanwhile, are strutting in with the confidence of a side unbeaten in eight games.

Hopefully, Ange Postecoglou’s return to familiar Scottish territory will spark a turnaround.

What time does Tottenham v Rangers kick-off?

How both teams go into Tottenham v Rangers

Let’s start with the visitors. Spurs’ recent form? Well, let’s just say it’s been less ‘North London Derby glory’ and more ‘North London misery.’ Four Premier League games without a win, injuries mounting like a bad Jenga game, and a fanbase growing increasingly restless. Add to that the embarrassment of sitting 11th in the Premier League table – yes, 11th – and you get the picture.

On the European front, Spurs are level with Rangers in terms of results—three wins, a draw, and a loss—but trail on goal difference. At least we’re not leaking goals at home in this competition.

Meanwhile, Rangers come into this game with the kind of form Spurs fans can only dream about. Eight games unbeaten, third in the Scottish Premiership, and back-to-back wins against Kilmarnock and Ross County.

Still, we’ve got one little nugget of hope: Ange Postecoglou knows Rangers. He’s beaten them five times in eight attempts from his Celtic days, and if anyone can the home fans a hard time, it’s our Aussie gaffer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The last time these two sides met? A friendly back in July 2022 when Harry Kane bagged a brace to seal a 2-1 win for Spurs. Oh, how we miss that man.

Tottenham Team News

Let’s address the elephant in the room – injuries. Spurs’ medical room is busier than the transfer rumour mill in January. Richarlison and Odobert are out with hamstring issues. Ben Davies is sidelined for the same, and there’s still no confirmation on whether Mikey Moore has recovered from his virus and Ange’s Europa League squad decisions continue to baffle fans (Djed Spence, anyone?).

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Rodrigo Bentancur is back amidst his league suspension, and Will Lankshear returns from his red card against Galatasaray. Fraser Forster, who has been outstanding in Vicario’s absence, will once again be between the sticks – and honestly, no complaints there.

Rangers Team News

Rangers’ injury list is less chaotic. Neraysho Kasanwirjo is their only confirmed absentee, and there’s cautious optimism around Oscar Cortes and Tom Lawrence. Rabbi Matondo has returned to training and could feature, giving Philippe Clement a near-full squad to choose from.

Their key man? Cyriel Dessers. With 14 goal contributions this season, he’s been tormenting defences across the Premiership. And then there’s James Tavernier – a creative machine with 34 chances created in the league. Stopping these two will be crucial for Spurs.

Predicted Tottenham Line-Up

Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison; Kulusevski, Lankshear, Werner

Our Prediction

This game feels like a test of resilience for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou’s record against Rangers from his Celtic days should give fans some hope, but let’s face it – Tottenham are currently about as stable as a house of cards in a windstorm.

The good news is Rangers have their own flaws. They’re poor at defending set pieces, often leaving opponents unmarked, and their decision-making on counter-attacks aren’t much better, either. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? This could be the perfect opportunity for Spurs to capitalise – provided we don’t waste corners like we usually do.

Keep an eye on Will Lankshear. The youngster is itching to make amends after his red card in Istanbul, and his hunger could be the difference-maker. Meanwhile, Tottenham’s makeshift backline of Dragusin and Gray will have the tough task of keeping Dessers and Tavernier quiet. Rangers have struggled to capitalise on narrow spaces, so quick defensive reactions and narrowing down gaps will be crucial. Ben Davies would have been ideal for this role, but in his absence, Gray will need to step up.

Sure, predicting a 3-0 win might sound optimistic given our current struggles, but football’s a funny game. We have seen miracles before, and maybe, just maybe, this is the night Ange’s men remind us why we love this club.
