Former Tottenham midfielder Sandro has decided to come out of retirement and has made a shock move that many will find hard to believe.

Sandro a cult hero among Tottenham fans

Sandro is one of the most popular players to have played for Spurs over recent decades, with the White Hart Lane faithful loving the passion and the spirit that the Brazilian showed on the pitch.

Injuries prevented the midfielder from living up to his potential as he exited Tottenham in 2014, and he subsequently had spells with West Brom, QPR, Udinese, Genoa, and Internacional.

Sandro eventually hung up his boots last year, but he has now decided to come out of retirement and sign for a non-league side.

Sando signs for Harborough Town

The Sun have now revealed that the former Brazil international has signed a shock deal with non-league side Harborough Town.

That means that Sandro will now be playing his football in the Southern League Premier Central club, which is step seven of the English football pyramid.

As one can imagine, the Leicestershire outfit club are over the moon to have signed the former Tottenham man, who is, by far, the greatest player to play for the club and the biggest name to ever grace tier seven of English football

MORE SPURS STORIES

Club manager Mitch Austin said of the move: “What an unbelievable signing for the club, I really cannot express how I am feeling. I had a chance conversation with Sandro a couple of weeks ago and we got talking about football, told him about Harborough Town FC and the journey we are on and he has been messaging me ever since to sign on, totally unbelievable and gobsmacked is how I would describe this signing.

“These sort of signings don’t happen every day but when you get a chance to sign an ex-professional footballer who has played at the highest level in the Premier League and Internationally with Brazil, you just cannot turn it down.”

“Being a Tottenham Hotspur fan myself I knew all about Sandro. But when I looked back at a few photos online and there he was stood in a Brazil team photo with the likes of Neymar Jr., Ronaldinho, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves, and Marcelo, I was like what is going on, pinch me!”

Sandro will now play in a big FA Cup clash

Harborough Town made the headlines recently because of their giant-killing in the FA Cup as they ran out 4-1 winners over Tonbridge Angels.

It was the first time that the club had participated in the first round of the world’s oldest club tournament, and they now have a massive second-round tie to look forward to against Reading.

That means that Sandro will now have an opportunity to play against the former Premier League side as he gets set to don the colours of Harborough.

Dimitar Berbatov says he 'was crying' when Harry Kane left Spurs

Dimitar Berbatov was stunned when Harry Kane made the decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich, and the Bulgarian explained why.

The writing was on the wall for Harry Kane

Harry Kane had entered the final year of his contract at Spurs last year, and with the Lilywhites making a managerial change by bringing Ange Postecoglou in, it was the right time for the club to cash in on their talisman, given that he was not committing to a new deal.

However, many Tottenham fans were still living in hope that he would end up staying and it was hard for many to digest when Bayern Munich finally struck a deal with Spurs for the striker a day before the start of the 2022-23 Premier League season.

Predictably, the England captain has been breaking all sorts of records since moving to the Bundesliga, but Berbatov admits that he is surprised that the 31-year-old ended up in the Allianz Arena.

Dimitar Berbatov puzzled at Kane’s move

The former Spurs striker admitted that he could not believe that another Premier League side did not decide to make a move for Tottenham‘s record goalscorer, and allowed Bayern to poach him.

Berbatov himself famously made a controversial switch from Tottenham to Man Utd in 2009, and the 43-year-old wanted Kane to remain in the Premier League.

The pundit told talkSPORT’s The Line Up: “Harry Kane is a machine. I was crying that day [he left]. Well, not crying! But I was like ‘seriously?!’ No other club in the Premier League wanted him to stay here?”

Kane did Tottenham a favour

Kane could have run his contract down at Spurs and moved to another Premier League side, but he showed respect to Tottenham and their supporters by deciding to move abroad instead.

In fact, a few Premier League clubs likely enquired about the striker in the summer of 2023, but Daniel Levy would not have wanted to strengthen a direct rival and might have preferred a sale to Bayern.

Tottenham perform 'significant U

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly changed their mind about offering Heung-min Son a new contract and have now made a big decision on his future.

Heung-min Son into the final year of his deal

Son‘s current deal runs out at the end of this season, but Tottenham need not fear that their captain will leave on a free transfer.

This is because the club have the option to extend the forward’s £190,000-per-week deal by another season, which effectively means he is under contract until 2026.

It has now emerged that Tottenham have made a big decision on the South Korean’s future after considering offering him a long-term contract.

Tottenham’s U-turn on Son

GiveMeSport have now revealed that rather than offering the forward a long-term deal for the time being, the North London club hierarchy will just activate the one-year option in the player’s contract.

This is because Tottenham want to be cautious with the 32-year-old and they do not want to put a significant strain on their wage bill immediately by offering him a lengthy deal.

While Spurs are determined to keep Son at the club and seriously considered tying him down for many years, the club’s hierarchy now feel it would make more sense to activate the one-year option for the time being.

Tottenham not ruling out new deal for Son

While the Lilywhites want to remain careful about managing their wage bill for now, it is made clear by GiveMeSport that they have not ruled out offering their captain a long-term contract and a pay rise.

It is explained that part of the reason for Spurs’ cautiousness is due to Son’s hamstring and thigh injuries over recent months, which has convinced the club that they should wait rather than make a hasty decision.

The report adds that the former Bayer Leverkusen man is open to staying at Tottenham beyond next season and that the North London club could offer him a fresh contract if he can avoid too many niggling injuries for the rest of this campaign.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are one of two clubs interested in signing Real Madrid prodigy, Endrick, on loan during the January transfer window.

Brazilian starlet yet to dazzle in Madrid

Endrick was seen as a big coup for Real Madrid when they struck a deal for him almost a year ago, with the teenager eventually arriving at the Spanish capital before the start of the current season.

The 18-year-old striker has produced a few eye-catching moments this season, with two goals and an assist from nine appearances for the La Liga giants, out of which he has started just one (Transfermarkt).

It has now emerged that Los Blancos are willing to send the Brazilian starlet out on loan so that he can gain experience.

Tottenham ready to pounce

According to Fichajes.com, Carlo Ancelotti’s men want Endrick to gain some experience in a top side so that he is ready to compete for a starting birth at Madrid.

Tottenham have allegedly shown interest in Endrick, with the North London side seeing the youngster as a good fit for their project.

The report points out that Ange Postecoglou enjoys working with talented young players and asserts that the Australian believes that the Madrid starlet would add ‘creativity and energy’ to his side.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the Lilywhites are reportedly facing competition from Juventus, who feel that the Brazilian’s dynamic style of play would fit perfectly into their system.

Tottenham move seems unlikely

Despite what Fichajes claim, we know that Spurs do not tend to sign players on loan unless the deal comes with an option of obligation to buy.

Madrid are certainly not going to authorise such a deal as they see Endrick as one for the future.

Pascal Chimbonda Premier League prediction

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Ipswich Town to N17 on Sunday as they look to put three more points on the board in the Premier League, and Pascal Chimbonda has now offered his score prediction.

Spurs vs Ipswich in the Premier League

Spurs have been in good domestic form of late, winning three of their last five Premier League matches, as well as a Carabao Cup victory over Manchester City.

Ipswich Town, on the other hand, are without a win in their last ten Premier League matches. Yes, Tottenham are coming up against another side with zero wins so far this season.

The last time that happened, so-called Dr. Tottenham handed Crystal Palace their first three points of the 2024/25 campaign. Ange Postecoglou will be hoping his team are less charitable this weekend.

Spurs come into the game off the back of a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Galatasaray in the Europa League, but that was with a much-changed XI due to rotation and injuries.

Spurs certainly head into the fixture at home to Ipswich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as firm favourites. It is fair to say that Chimbonda agrees with that sentiment.

Tottenham vs Ipswich score prediction

Pascal Chimbonda thinks Tottenham will continue their fine form this weekend and earn a rare clean sheet to boot. We believe the Lilywhites will probably concede, but still record a comfortable victory.

Pascal prediction – 3-0 Tottenham win

Spurs Web prediction – 3-1 Tottenham win

Tottenham Hotspur vs Ipswich Town: Premier League Preview

The Lilywhites welcome Ipswich Town to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, looking to enter the international break with another Premier League win.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are in impressive form, riding high after a 4-1 comeback victory over Aston Villa and a recent Carabao Cup win over Manchester City. However, they suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat in the Europa League to Galatasaray midweek, which ended their perfect record in that competition.

Ipswich, meanwhile, find themselves in a struggle, sitting in the relegation zone with five draws and no wins from their ten games. Despite their league position, Kieran McKenna’s side are known for their unique tactical approach. They’ll be hoping it can help them produce an upset against the high-flying Spurs.

What time does Tottenham v Ipswich kick-off?

How both teams go into Tottenham v Ipswich

Tottenham come into this fixture off a strong run, winning nine of their last thirteen matches since mid-September and showing consistency across competitions. They’re currently eyeing a potential spot in the Premier League’s top four. Spurs will also be aiming for a rare home clean sheet, having gone 21 league games at home without one.

Ipswich’s form is less encouraging, with no league wins to their name. Their underlying stats reveal defensive vulnerabilities, as they’ve conceded the highest expected goals (xG) in the league. However, forward Liam Delap has been a bright spot, with five goals this season. McKenna’s side are adept at adapting their formation to outnumber opponents in midfield, which could pose a challenge for Spurs if not managed carefully.

Tottenham Team News

Spurs will be without Micky van de Ven due to a hamstring injury, while Timo Werner, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert all remain sidelined. Mikey Moore is also too ill to take part.

Cristian Romero could return to the Tottenham starting XI if he trains well over the next two days.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Ipswich Team News

Ipswich will be without Kalvin Phillips, who’s suspended following a red card in their draw against Leicester.

Axel Tuanzebe is also out due to a hand injury, and defender Jacob Greaves remains sidelined with a muscle issue. However, Harry Clarke is expected to return from suspension, adding depth to Ipswich’s defence.

Predicted Tottenham Line-Up

Vicario, Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Sarr, Johnson, Solanke, Son.

Our Prediction

Tottenham enter as favourites, and with Ipswich’s defensive struggles, they’ll look to capitalise on any gaps in the visitors’ formation. Kieran McKenna has implemented a versatile style for Ipswich, often using fluid positional rotations to disrupt opposing defences.

Liam Delap has benefited from this approach, scoring five goals this season by capitalising on well-placed passes from the midfield. With Kulusevski and Sarr in peak form linking with Bentancur, Tottenham’s midfield is well-equipped to handle Ipswich’s tactical shifts

With Ipswich conceding the league’s highest xG and struggling for wins, Spurs’ efficient attack, led by Heung-min Son and Dominic Solanke, is well-positioned to exploit Ipswich’s vulnerabilities.

Look out for Solanke to make an impact; his movement and finishing have added a new dimension to Spurs’ play, while Spurs’ overall form suggests they’re unlikely to let this opportunity slip by.

Glenn Hoddle reacts to Will Lankshear goal and red card for Spurs

Glenn Hoddle gives his verdict on Will Lankshear’s poor challenge that led to his second yellow against Galatasaray.

Bittersweet night for Will Lankshear

Lankshear was handed his second senior start for Tottenham at Rams Park and what started as a night to remember soured in the second-half for the centre-forward.

The 19-year-old would have been on cloud nine when he scored his first goal for the Lilywhites on 18 minutes to draw the away side level after the Turkish giants had taken the lead, but he would later go on to be sent off after a rash challenge.

Hoddle was over the moon for the teenager when he silenced the Galatasaray faithful with his first-half strike.

The Spurs legend, who was on commentary, said on TNT Sports (7/11/2024, 6:07 pm via TBR Football) when Lankshear netted his equaliser: “What a fantastic feeling for the young man.

“A lovely ball from Archie Gray, he dinks a lovely weighted pass to Brennan Johnson and Lankshear is onside. Lankshear with his first senior goal. Fabulous response from Tottenham.”

Glenn Hoddle on Lankshear’s challenge

However, apart from his goal, the Tottenham striker struggled to get into the game, with the home side having the better of proceedings for large periods.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Spurs academy graduate’s evening came to an early end when he made a rash challenge on 60 minutes, leaving the referee with no choice but to brandish a second yellow.

The striker looked distraught as he walked off the pitch and Hoddle suggested that the youngster had a rush of blood to the head.

The 67-year-old told TNT Sports (7/11/2024, 7:08 pm): “I think it was born out of frustration. As a youngster, Will Lankshear lost his head and forgot he was on a yellow.”

A learning experience for Lankshear

It was not an easy assignment for Lankshear to lead the line at an intimidating away ground like Rams Park, especially considering that he had very little service.

It was a poor challenge but one which can be chalked down to inexperience. The young striker will undoubtedly emerge from this mentally stronger.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Ipswich Town to North London this weekend in the Premier League, so let’s take a look at our predicted Spurs XI for the encounter.

Predicted Spurs XI vs Ipswich Town

Goalkeeper: Guglielmo Vicario comes back into the side following Fraser Forster’s impressive showing in the Europa League against Galatasaray.

Right-back: Djed Spence earns a rare start at right-back with Pedro Porro needing a deserved rest following some tough 90-minute runs in the last two weeks.

Centre-back: Cristian Romero passes a late fitness test to start for Tottenham after he went off injured against Aston Villa and missed the Galatasaray match.

Centre-back: Radu Dragusin endured a tough evening in Turkey on Thursday but retains his place in the side. After all, he played incredibly against both Man City and Aston Villa.

Left-back: Destiny Udogie was handed a rest in mid-week, but replaces Archie Gray in the line-up against Ipswich to add some extra drive to that Spurs attack on the left.

Pivot midfielder: Rodrigo Bentancur impressed off the bench against Galatasaray and looks in line to start another Premier League match in the pivot role.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Central-midfield: Pape Matar Sarr is preferred over James Maddison at the moment, thanks to his high-pressing and defensive work off the ball. In all honesty, it is a toss-up between Madders and Sarr this week though.

Central-midfield: Dejan Kulusevski had a chance to earn Spurs a point with a long-range effort against Galatasaray on Thursday but will be hoping to get back amongst the goals this weekend.

Right-wing: Brennan Johnson was taken off after just 45 minutes for a reason on Thursday – he is a dead certain starter on Sunday against Ipswich Town.

Striker: Dominic Solanke scored off the bench to keep his superb form going against Galatasaray. Could we see another brace in the Premier League this weekend?

min Son admission ahead of Spurs vs Ipswich

Ange Postecoglou has thrown a hint regarding his usage of Heung-min Son ahead of Spurs vs Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Heung-min Son working his way up to full fitness

Son has rarely been injured over his nine and a half years at Tottenham, but he has already suffered two niggling problems at the start of this campaign, with the forward having issues with his hamstring and his thigh.

That is why Postecoglou decided to bring the 32-year-old off in the 55th minute of the club’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday – a decision which the Tottenham captain was not too happy about.

Many were surprised to see Son start against Galatasaray, but in truth, Postecoglou did not have much choice, with Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Timo Werner and Mikey Moore unavailable for the game.

Ange Postecoglou’s confession about Son

With the four aforementioned wide players still missing, Postecoglou has no choice but to once again start with Son and Brennan Johnson against Ipswich.

However, the Tottenham head coach hinted that he will continue to manage the South Korean’s minutes carefully.

Postecoglou said about Son (via Football.London): “For Sonny, he obviously had the injury and we brought him back and he had a relapse. We don’t want to put him in that position.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We’re building him up, managing his minutes, hopefully, we can build that up. We can’t afford more injuries in that position. We got Wilson, Richy, Mikey, we can’t afford to lose another player.”

Can Spurs make quick work of Ipswich?

Postecoglou is down to the bare bones in attack and will not have much attacking talent to turn to on the bench on Sunday.

The Tottenham head coach will be hoping that his side can put the game to bed within the first hour so that he can take off the likes of Son and Porro, who will likely play 180 minutes of football during the international break.

Spurs return to Premier League action this weekend, with their final game before the international break coming against Ipswich Town. But how can you watch the game?

Last time out in the league, Spurs were dominant in a 4-1 win over Aston Villa, and expectations are high that they can push on and get another positive result against Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys are yet to win a game upon their return to the top flight, and yet, the curse of Tottenham going into the international break suggests Ipswich could surprise everyone.

Let’s take a look at how, where, and when to watch Spurs vs Ipswich this weekend.

When and where is the Tottenham vs Ipswich game?

The fixture will take place on Sunday, November 10 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM (GMT).

How to watch Spurs vs Ipswich

The Spurs game has not been selected for television broadcast this weekend, so you won’t be able to watch the action unfold live, unfortunately.

Instead, you’ll have to wait for the extended highlights on Match of the Day 2 on Sunday night.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham team news ahead of Ipswich game

Ange Postecoglou will be without a number of players for the Ipswich game, including Richarlison, Micky van de Ven, and very likely, Cristian Romero and Wilson Odobert, too.

Richarlison is expected to be out for at least four weeks, while van de Ven will not return until after the international break.

Romero’s foot injury is not enough to stop him getting a call-up to the Argentina squad for that break, but the chances of him featuring this weekend are low.

Odobert and Djed Spence have been recovering for a few weeks now, and while the former may still have some way to go, Spence could be in contention for the Ipswich game.

Spurs have got to win, surely

Everything points to a Tottenham win. The Lilywhites are in great form, they’re playing at home, and while Ipswich have battled bravely all season, they should be no match for Spurs.
