O'Hara Explains Why Keane Is Perfect For Tottenham Job
Tottenham Hotspur's problems seem to deepen by the day.
Igor Tudor looks set to be in charge for the visit to Liverpool at the weekend, with the club confirming that he will be taking the pre-match press conference on Friday, but his future beyond that remains in doubt.
The Croatian has lost all four of his games in charge and, having been brought in to be a firefighter and be a quick fix to get Tottenham out of the mess they find themselves in, it has not worked, with Spurs even deeper in trouble than they were before he joined.
A 5-2 defeat at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League was the tip of the iceberg for a lot of supporters, following Tudor's decision to start Antonin Kinsky in goal and then subsequently replace him 17 minutes in - and not acknowledge him after he walked off - after two shocking mistakes.
GIVEMESPORT understands that Tudor has alienated a number of first-team players since his arrival as a replacement for the sacked Thomas Frank in February and that the Tottenham hierarchy have sounded out potential short-term replacements following four losses in a row.
Possible options include former interim boss Ryan Mason, ex-Spurs striker Robbie Keane, who is currently in charge of Hungarian side Ferencvaros and, according to reports, has been contacted by Spurs, and Sean Dyche.
Robbie Keane Has a Big Job On His Hands Already
And former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara has already thrown his weight behind Keane returning to the club.
Speaking on TalkSport this week, when asked who he would bring in, he said: "I've said Harry Redknapp, but that's not going to happen. Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane, someone who cares about the club."
Keane is having a successful spell in Hungary with Ferencvaros, winning the league title last season and on course to do so again this season. They also have a UEFA Europa League last 16 clash with Braga on Thursday night, with the second leg next week.
O'Hara has previously spoken about Keane on TalkSport and an anecdote from their playing time together showed exactly why Keane would be perfect for the Tottenham job right now.
O'Hara Anecdote Makes Key Point About Robbie Keane
O'Hara said: "I never forget playing with Robbie Keane, he was up front and I was young and playing well and I was getting the ball, moving it, keeping it, moving it sideways, didn't want to give the ball away, trying to find my feet, and after about ten minutes Robbie Keane came up to me and grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and said 'if you don't look to pass forward into my feet the next time you get the ball, I'm going to have you in the dressing room, stop passing it sideways!'
"Then, all of a sudden your first thought when you get the ball on the half turn is to play forward, look forward, because you've got a centre-forward there saying 'give me the ball'."
