Tottenham Must Pay Record-Breaking Compensation to Appoint Levy’s First Choice - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay a compensation fee, “one of the biggest in football history,” to acquire Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, according to BBC Sport.

Despite leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham just weeks after his accomplishment. While the Lilywhites were a strong team in Europe, they struggled massively in the Premier League, losing an eye-watering 22 games out of 38.

For all of their fortunes on the continent, Spurs’ league form was almost impossible to ignore and the club are now on the hunt for another manager. Brentford manager Thomas Frank appears to be the favourite, but there are plenty of other candidates on the shortlist, including Fulham manager Marco Silva.

It appears unlikely that one such shortlisted name, however, will be making the move to North London.

Pochettino Return Looks Unlikely

Argentine is in charge of the US men’s team

As per BBC Sport, Mauricio Pochettino is a name that Spurs have considered to replace Postecoglou. The Argentine has been in charge of the United States men’s team since 2024 and is expected to remain in charge of the country for 2026 World Cup, but is well known to Spurs fans, having managed the club from 2014 to 2019.

Though Pochettino, who is reported chairman Daniel Levy's first choice, failed to win any silverware with Spurs, his tenure as a whole was a major success. The Argentinian guided Spurs to more than one second-placed finish in the Premier League whilst in 2019, he guided the Lilywhites to their first and so far, only, Champions League final.

A Pochettino return would be well-received by the fans, however it appears unlikely at this stage. The BBC have reported that the move would come “with a number of obstacles” including the compensation package that Spurs would have to pay for him, which would reportedly be “one of the biggest in football history.” For all the positivity it would bring, it appears that a return for Pochettino is not set to happen.

David Ornstein Shares Timeline Update on Tottenham Appointing New Manager - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a decision on their new manager next week after sacking Ange Postecoglou, according to David Ornstein.

The Lilywhites have made the decision to part ways with their Australian boss despite him winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League next season, after a dismal Premier League campaign saw them finish 17th with 22 defeats from their 38 games.

Now all their attentions have turned to who they will bring in to replace him, and Ornstein believes it could be a fast process in north London.

Tottenham to Make Manager Decision 'Next Week'

Thomas Frank leading contender

According to Ornstein, Spurs have made Brentford boss Thomas Frank their number one target to replace Postecoglou.

The Dane, who GIVEMESPORT sources revealed has met with Daniel Levy several times about the role, is said to be interested in the position and the chance to manage in the Champions League. However, Ornstein also reports that there has currently been no contact between the clubs.

Reports in Portugal, however, suggest that Tottenham are 'very close' to finding an agreement with Fulham manager Marco Silva about becoming the club's next manager.

GMS sources also understand that the likes of Andoni Iraola and Roberto Di Zerbi have also been eyed by Tottenham chiefs but neither manager are expected to leave their current roles ahead of the new season.

Bringing a new manager into the club is seen as a priority for the north London club, as they look to strengthen their squad for a Champions League campaign. No new signings have been made yet by Daniel Levy, although the club have made the signing of Kevin Danso permanent.

Postecoglou's Comments After Man Utd Sacked Erik ten Hag Resurface After Spurs Dismissal

Ange Postecoglou's comments after Erik ten Hag's Man United sacking now look VERY interesting - GiveMeSport
Description

Despite winning the Europa League with Tottenham Hotspur, delivering the club their first trophy in 17 years, Ange Postecoglou was dismissed by the side on Friday. The Australian had spent two seasons in charge of the team, but after a disappointing campaign domestically, the decision was made to let him go shortly after the 2024/25 season wrapped up.

The news was met with a mixed reaction. Some couldn't look past his struggles in the Premier League this year and thought it was the right move, while others, like Alan Shearer, thought the decision was a poor one. They felt the fact he'd delivered silverware to a team that had gone so long without any had earned him a chance to take the club forward.

Ultimately, the trophy wasn't enough to keep him in his job and now, comments he had previously made when Erik ten Hag was sacked as Manchester United manager late last year have resurfaced and they look very interesting.

They have aged very interestingly

While Tottenham struggled this season, they weren't the only top side who disappointed. Manchester United also had a disastrous campaign and finished without adding any silverware to their trophy cabinet. They started the season with Erik ten Hag, but decided to replace him with Ruben Amorim before 2024 had wrapped up.

The Dutchman was under fire for a while and shortly after he was let go, Postecoglou commented on the situation. What he said has aged very interestingly too. Despite winning trophies in his first two seasons with the Red Devils, the club decided to dismiss Ten Hag and the now ex-Spurs manager commented on how the trophies didn't help keep his job.

In quotes shared via beIN Sports, he said:

"I'm not really shocked. Disappointing as it was, it was almost inevitable with the scrutiny he had. If you look at Erik, he was there for two and a bit years. He won a trophy in each year. They finished third in his first year. If he was here with that record, would he have lost his job? I don’t know.

"Would he be under the same scrutiny? I don’t know, because everyone tells me all I have to do is win a trophy, but I have got a feeling it would be the same because, just the nature of the world today."

His notion that winning a trophy wouldn't ultimately help him has aged well considering his Europa League triumph didn't prevent him being sacked by Daniel Levy. In fact, he was dismissed just weeks after winning the European competition.

Tottenham 'Very Close' to Agreement to Appoint 'Genius' Manager Instead of Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham are 'very close' to appointing Marco Silva as Ange Postecoglou's replacement, according to Record.

The Lilywhites finally made the decision to sack the Australian coach on Friday afternoon, just 16 days after he led the team to success in the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League, ending a 17-year trophy drought in the process.

It was believed that Brentford boss Thomas Frank was the leading contender for the role, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the club would advance talks in the coming days, but reports in Portugal now claim the club are going in a different direction.

Tottenham 'Very Close' to Silva Agreement

Portuguese coach has one-year left on Fulham contract

Silva had previously been reported as being one of the top contenders for the role, but at the end of the Premier League season he committed himself to Fulham for the 2025/26 campaign after rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabia.

However, Record report that he is now 'very close' to an agreement with Tottenham that would see him make the move across London to coach in the Champions League next season.

Silva, who has been described as a 'genius', led Fulham to the brink of European football in the 2024/25 season as the Cottagers finished 11th following a late collapse.

He has previously managed Hull City, Watford and Everton in England and has generally done well everywhere he has been, which will now earn him a potential position with a Champions League campaign.

Postecoglou was sacked despite winning the Europa League after a horrendous Premier League campaign in which the north London side finished 17th, with a record-breaking 22 defeats from 38 games. They also reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals, while they were eliminated from the FA Cup in the fourth-round by Aston Villa.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham to ‘Advance Talks’ for ‘Incredible’ Manager in Days

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham to ‘Advance Talks’ for ‘Incredible’ Manager in Days - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are “prepared to advance in talks” with Brentford manager Thomas Frank in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Despite guiding Spurs to the Europa League last season, Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties at Spurs after a dismal domestic campaign. While many have questioned how Tottenham can justify sacking the man who won them their first trophy in 17 years and just their third-ever European honour, the Lilywhites struggled massively in the Premier League.

Spurs lost 22 of their 38 games, only avoiding relegation due to the poor form of the three promoted teams. Securing Champions League football was, ultimately, not enough for Postecoglou to convince Daniel Levy and Spurs’ ownership into keeping him.

Unsurprisingly, Tottenham are on the hunt for Postecoglou’s replacement and Fabrizio Romano has provided a major update as to where they stand in their search.

‘Prepared to Advance In Talks’

As per Romano, Brentford boss Thomas Frank seems to be Spurs’ main candidate, with the club “prepared to advance in talks” for the Dane in the coming days. Since joining Brentford in 2018, Frank has taken the Bees from the Championship to the Premier League, establishing the London side within the top flight.

Frank has earned praise for his pragmatism. The manager is not locked to one specific style of play and has openly admitted, in the past, that he needed to change his philosophy upon promotion to the Premier League. In Frank, Spurs would be signing a manager who would adjust his system game-by-game, something that Postecoglou never did.

Frank, who has been dubbed “incredible” for his work in the Premier League so far, has continued to defy the odds with Brentford and has also been applauded for his development of players. Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo in the 2024/25 season were Frank’s latest success stories, but the Dane has had a similar impact on players such as Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney in the past.

Should Spurs find a way to lure Frank from Brentford, then it would be a smart replacement for Postecoglou who, if nothing else, became the man to finally end Spurs’ trophy drought.

How Much Money Tottenham Paid to Sack Ange Postecoglou Amid Dressing Room Fury

How Tottenham players reacted to Ange Postecoglou's sacking as staggering cost revealed - GiveMeSport
Description

It’s official: despite winning the Europa League final against Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur have come to the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou – and the reaction of the players and how much his dismissal cost have been revealed.

It was just over two weeks ago when thousands of Spurs supporters turned up in their droves as a means of thanking Postecoglou and the players for breaking their 17-year major trophy curse. And, amid the jubilation, the former manager said:

“I'll tell you something! I'll leave you with this: all the best television series, season three is better than season two!”

A strong remark from the 59-year-old, ear-splitting loud cheers of approval bellowed from the many Spurs supporters in attendance – but that will not be the case for the former Celtic boss, who suffered 22 Premier League defeats in the 2024/25 campaign.

How Spurs Player Reacted to Postecoglou’s Sacking

Cost of the 59-year-old's dismissal also revealed in report

Brentford custodian Thomas Frank, 51, is the favourite to replace him after the Greek-Australian’s hodgepodge two years, equating to 101 games, of service – but how are his former players reacting to the news that Postecoglou will no longer be at the helm?

According to The Telegraph, Daniel Levy – who held a meeting into the night after their 4-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion – could face a revolt from the players after brutally parting ways with Postecoglou, who began his career at South Melbourne.

As a result of Levy’s unpopular decision, which reports suggested was always going to be the case irrespective of the outcome in Bilbao, the report has insisted that some Spurs players are thinking of leaving the club. A source told The Telegraph:

“The players are so angry about what has happened and how it has been handled. The next manager is going to inherit a difficult situation.”

Whether it’s Frank or another potential suitor, the source believes that Postecoglou’s successor will face a daunting task: repairing the dressing room after losing someone who, despite his subtle shortcomings, was a brilliant character on and off the pitch.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Tottenham Hotspur’s 22 losses in the 2024/25 Premier League season are the most by a team who avoided relegation in a 38-game campaign.

Elsewhere, The Mirror have insisted that Postecoglou’s sacking would have cost the north Londoners a total of £4 million in compensation – it’s important to remember: that’s alongside his £2m-worth bonus by virtue of reigning supreme in Europe.

All in all, Levy and Co have been forced to cough up in the region of £6 million to wave goodbye to just their third manager – alongside the legendary duo of Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw – to deliver them a European trophy.

Description

Tottenham have joined the summer transfer battle to sign Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed.

The Lilywhites have reportedly added the promising 19-year-old Denmark international to their shortlist and are among several top European clubs monitoring him closely.

Eintracht Frankfurt are believed to be actively pursuing Froholdt at the moment, while Bayer Leverkusen are also admirers of the central midfielder.

Froholdt, who joined Copenhagen’s youth ranks in 2019, is under contract with the Danish club until June 2028.

Tottenham Keen on Victor Froholdt

Among European clubs monitoring the 19-year-old

Plettenberg, writing on X, has revealed that Froholdt has emerged as a potential midfield option for several European clubs, including Tottenham, Frankfurt and Leverkusen:

Froholdt, praised as a ‘beast in the making’, made his senior debut for Copenhagen in September 2023 and has enjoyed regular minutes ever since.

The 19-year-old has registered 61 first-team appearances to date, scoring eight goals and providing six assists whilst operating in a number of different roles.

Although a natural central midfielder, the one-cap Denmark international is also able to play on either of the wings and would be another exciting signing from a Nordic country for Spurs, who welcomed fellow promising midfielder Lucas Bergvall from Swedish side Djurgarden last year.

Tottenham Want ‘Incredible’ Manager After Several Meetings as Postecoglou Sacked - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have made Brentford manager Thomas Frank their top target to become their new boss after they decided to sack Ange Postecoglou, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Lilywhites made the decision to part ways with the Greek-Australian coach on Friday afternoon, despite him winning the Europa League and ending the club's 17-year trophy drought - securing Champions League football for the 2025/26 season in the process.

Ultimately a shocking Premier League campaign, in which the club lost 22 times in 38 games, has cost him his job, and now Daniel Levy is eyeing the Dane as his replacement.

Sources: Tottenham Want Frank as Next Boss

Frank and Levy have met multiple times

Tottenham have been considering sacking Postecoglou for several months due to poor performances in the league, but ultimately kept faith and were rewarded by winning the Europa League.

However, plans have already been in motion to replace him with several candidates considered, and GMS sources understand that chairman Levy has already met with Frank multiple times about the job.

Frank, who has been described as 'incredible', is considered to be the top contender for the job now after spending almost seven years with Brentford - where he led the club to a 10th place finish in the Premier League last season.

Tottenham are also big fans of Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth and Marco Silva of Fulham, but the Cherries are confident of keeping hold of the Spaniard while Silva confirmed at the back end of the 2024/25 season that he will be staying at Craven Cottage, having rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia.

Marseille boss Roberto Di Zerbi was also considered, and was a contender for the Inter Milan job following Simone Inzaghi's exit, but the Ligue 1 also expect him to be in charge next season. There is no formal release clause in Di Zerbi's contract as that illegal in France.

Crystal Palace chief Oliver Glasner was also said to be under consideration, although the Austrian helped the Eagles to win the FA Cup and therefore qualified for European football, which is likely to rule him out of the running.

Frank is believed to have a release clause worth around £9million in his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, but it's unknown whether that will be a stumbling block in negotiations.

Postecoglou leaves the club after 101 games in charge, winning 47 of them and losing 39. Tottenham are hopeful of making a final decision on their next manager next week.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to sack manager Ange Postecolgou despite him winning the Europa League, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

The Lilywhites had a mixed campaign as they qualified for the 2025/26 edition of the Champions League following their win over Manchester United, but finished 17th in the Premier League with a record-breaking 22 defeats over the 38-game season.

Ultimately, those performances have proven to be worrying enough for chairman Daniel Levy to make a change in the dugout ahead of the new season, and the Australian will now depart north London after two seasons in charge with the club confirming their decision in a statement.

Sources: Tottenham to Sack Postecoglou

Replacements being lined up

Postecoglou admitted after the Europa League final victory that he hoped to stay at the club for a third season, telling fans at the victory parade that "season three is always better than season two".

However, he now won't be given that opportunity at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will leave the club, with Levy now looking at replacements in the dugout.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is considered to be one of the top targets for the role, but the Spaniard is expected to stay with the Cherries and could sign a new contract at the Vitality Stadium. Should that change, he will be high on the list. Marco Silva was another manager considered for the role, but he confirmed after the end of the Premier League season that he would be staying at Fulham for next season.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank is now the man considered to be a leading contender for the job, with the Danish coach having a £9million release clause that is unlikely to be a stumbling block in negotiations. He has already met Daniel Levy several times.

Marseille manager Roberto Di Zerbi was also considered but he is now expected to stay with the French side as there is no release clause in his contract due to French law, while Inter Milan also enquired about his availability following Simone Inzaghi's move to Al-Hilal.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was another being considered, but their FA Cup win secured them European football for next season, and he has since confirmed he will also be staying at Selhurst Park for next year. RB Leipzig also showed an interest in the Austrian.

Spurs will now be looking to make a swift appointment ahead of the new season, with a busy summer transfer window expected with several first-team stars likely to be moved on to make room for new signings.

‘Unstoppable’ Ex-Chelsea Star Wants to Join Tottenham in Surprise Transfer - GiveMeSport
Description

AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic is showing interest in a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur, journalist Alessandro Schiavone has claimed.

The United States international faces an uncertain future at San Siro amid Milan’s looming first-team exodus, after the Rossoneri finished just eighth in Serie A and failed to qualify for European football next season.

With midfielder Tijjani Reijnders on his way to Manchester City and goalkeeper Mike Maignan attracting interest from Chelsea, Pulisic is also eyeing a return to the Premier League and has reportedly instructed his agent to find him a new club.

The 26-year-old, who spent four seasons at Chelsea, has reportedly earmarked both Tottenham and Arsenal as preferred destinations and is keen to embark on a new challenge after two years with Milan.

Christian Pulisic Wants Premier League Return

Tells agent to find him a new club

According to Schiavone, Pulisic has instructed his agent to begin working on a move this summer and would prefer to continue his career in London:

Pulisic has been a key player for Milan this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

No other Rossoneri player registered more goal contributions than his 27 during the 2024/25 campaign, while Pulisic also led the squad in expected goals with 13.3.

The 'unstoppable' 26-year-old would bring valuable Premier League experience to North London, having made 98 top-flight appearances during his time at Chelsea.

Pulisic has two years remaining on his Milan contract, although the club hold an option to extend it by a further season until June 2028.
