Alongside Semenyo: David Ornstein Says Tottenham Could Move for 'Elite' South American - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur could make a move to sign Manchester City winger Savinho in January after failing to secure his signature in the summer, David Ornstein has claimed.

Spurs are likely to be in the market for reinforcements in the January transfer window after a disappointing start to the season. Thomas Frank's side are struggling in the Premier League, sitting in the bottom half, and the winter window is an opportunity for the board to back Frank in the market once again.

It was a fairly busy window for Spurs in the summer, with mixed results in terms of the impact of some of their signings so far. Xavi Simons is the standout in terms of struggling to adapt to life in north London, but the Dutch international is still young and has plenty of time to fulfil his potential.

David Ornstein: Tottenham Could Move for Savinho

According to The Athletic's Ornstein, Tottenham could make a move to sign Savinho again in January. The respected reporter hints that it could come to fruition in the winter, while Antoine Semenyo is another target for the north London outfit.

"They'll also have the opportunity to improve the squad in the January transfer window. There will be money available if the right profile comes to them, and if it will improve the team in their eyes. They like Antoine Semenyo, for example, if it's not going to be him, maybe some other players in that wide attacking position, which is something they looked at last summer with Savinho from Manchester City. It didn't come to fruition. Maybe it will in January, and they'll hope that Thomas Frank can bring the results over time."

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed during the summer transfer window that Man City winger Savinho was open to joining Tottenham, but Pep Guardiola's side were adamant that he was not for sale. The Brazilian, described as 'elite', then signed a new contract until 2031, but he's struggled to make an impact this season for City.

Semenyo or Savinho?

Semenyo would appear to be the more achievable in terms of on a club-to-club level, due to the Bournemouth winger having a release clause. However, the tricky winger will have plenty of suitors in January and beyond, so it will be difficult for Spurs to win the race to secure his signature.

Savinho has struggled this season, making just four starts in the Premier League under Guardiola. Semenyo has undoubtedly had the better campaign, but Spurs could have a free run at trying to sign Savinho, with the Brazilian star having less interest from other clubs.

Number One Target: Tottenham Want ‘World-Class’ Manager to Replace Thomas Frank - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have identified former manager Mauricio Pochettino as the strongest potential replacement for Thomas Frank, according to reports.

The North London side are starting to keep a close eye on the managerial market amid their disappointing start to the season, with just 10 wins in 25 games under Frank.

While the Dane is not under immediate threat of losing his job, another dire run of results could end his time with Spurs prematurely, and the club appear to be drawing up contingency plans should that scenario arise.

Tottenham have won only two of their last nine Premier League games and fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Tottenham Eyeing Pochettino’s Return

According to CaughtOffside, Tottenham have already begun internal discussions regarding Frank’s long-term position at the club, as certain senior figures are growing frustrated behind the scenes over the team’s performances this season.

There are fears the campaign could spiral out of control if results do not improve soon, with the recent run of games only intensifying pressure on Frank.

Should they make a change in the dugout, Spurs chiefs reportedly view Pochettino as the top candidate to take over, six years after he departed the club in November 2019.

The Argentine, who is currently head coach of the United States, is seen as someone who understands the club’s culture and philosophy, while his history of developing young players makes him a front-runner for a return.

Pochettino, praised as ‘world-class’, took charge of Tottenham in 2014 and led the club to the 2019 Champions League final.

Spurs also finished second in the Premier League under the Argentine in 2016/17 – their highest top-flight position in over 50 years.

The North London club’s lowest finish under Pochettino was sixth in the 2014/15 season, his first year in charge.

Pochettino’s Record After Tottenham

Pochettino was relieved of his duties at Tottenham in November 2019 after winning just five of his first 17 games of the season.

The 53-year-old returned to management in January 2021, when he took charge of Paris Saint-Germain, winning the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup during his 18-month stint at Parc des Princes.

Pochettino oversaw an even shorter tenure at Chelsea, managing the club for just 51 games during the 2023/24 season, winning 27 times.

The Argentine has lost seven of his 22 games as United States manager but has gone unbeaten in his last five matches, including a 5-1 victory over Uruguay last month.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks to appoint Manchester City executive Carlos Raphael Moersen as head of football operations, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The North London side are expected to reach an agreement for the highly-rated executive, who has spent the last 10 years working for clubs within the City Football Group.

Moersen currently serves as the company’s director of football transactions, a role that includes negotiating contracts with current and potential Manchester City players.

His move to Tottenham would mark another high-profile executive change in North London, following former chairman Daniel Levy’s departure in September.

Tottenham Set to Hire Rafi Moersen

Ornstein, writing on X, revealed that Tottenham are in advanced negotiations to hire Moersen as head of football operations.

Moersen worked for Major League Soccer side D.C. United before joining City Football Group club New York City FC in 2015.

He held several roles during his time at the club before becoming part of the ‘global football’ operation at CFG, where he has risen quickly through the organisation and is highly rated internally.

Following Omar Berrada’s move to become chief executive at Manchester United in July last year, Moersen became the right-hand man to former Man City director of football Txiki Begiristain and supported him in negotiations.

Tottenham’s interest in Moersen comes after a turbulent 24-month period for the club.

Spurs appointed former Arsenal executive Vinai Venkatesham as CEO in April last year, with long-serving executive director Donna-Maria Cullen stepping down from her duties months later.

Further changes came in September, when Levy left the club after 24 years, with the club’s majority shareholders, the Lewis family, playing a key role in the decision.

Peter Charrington was then hired as non-executive chairman, while in October Tottenham confirmed Fabio Paratici’s return as joint sporting director alongside Johan Lange.

Thomas Frank Under Pressure at Spurs

Amid continuous changes behind the scenes, clouds are also starting to gather over head coach Thomas Frank’s position at Tottenham.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the Danish tactician is under pressure following a disappointing first six months at the club, with just 10 wins in his first 25 matches.

While the club is not expected to make an immediate decision on Frank’s future, the Dane ‘knows’ results must improve soon to avoid a premature end to his time in North London.

Description

Thomas Frank’s position at Tottenham Hotspur is not under any immediate threat, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The North London side remain behind the Danish head coach for the time being amid their disappointing run of form, with only two wins in their last nine Premier League games.

Ornstein suggests that while Tottenham chiefs want to see improvement in both performances and results, they remain fully behind Frank during a particularly difficult period for the club.

The Lilywhites fell to a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, marking their third loss in the last five league games.

Thomas Frank’s Position Not Under Threat

Ornstein, speaking on NBC Sports, revealed that while Tottenham are discussing Frank and his position in regular meetings, there is no suggestion the Dane is under any immediate threat:

“The word coming out of Tottenham Hotspur tonight is that they fully support Thomas Frank, and they are backing him.

“That the leadership at the club, of course, now it's in a more full-on way, the Lewis family, after Daniel Levy was sacked in September, you could say this was a first sort of true test of their control of the club.

“And everything we're hearing at the moment is that they are squarely behind Thomas Frank and that they want to see improvement in the team, and also, of course, results.

“Now it's been a particularly difficult period for them, and there is concern in the fan base clearly.

“There are regular meetings taking place, and we're told that within these meetings, of course, Thomas Frank and his position are discussed, but not in an abnormal way, and there's no suggestion coming to us that he is under any immediate threat.”

Since beating Everton 3-0 on October 26, Tottenham have won only one of their last seven Premier League matches, against Frank’s former club Brentford, 2-0 last weekend.

The Lilywhites have taken just three wins from their last 11 games across all competitions, including Champions League victories over Copenhagen and Slavia Prague.

Sitting 11th in the Premier League after 16 games, Tottenham host Liverpool on Saturday and visit Crystal Palace on Sunday, 28 December, in their final two games of the year.

Summer Signings Fail to Convince

Tottenham oversaw a heavy summer splurge to support Frank ahead of his first season in North London, spending over £180m on new signings, who have been disappointing so far.

The marquee arrivals in attack – Xavi Simons, Mohammed Kudus and Randal Kolo Muani – have scored just three league goals between them, with Richarlison leading the scoring charts with six.

Tottenham Hotspur are considering appointing Fulham boss Marco Silva as a successor to Thomas Frank, according to CaughtOffside.

The North London side are claimed to be drawing up a shortlist of potential candidates to take over managerial duties from the Dane amid their difficult start to the season.

With just 10 wins in 25 games under Frank, Tottenham chiefs are believed to be growing frustrated with how the year is going and have already begun internal discussions regarding Frank’s long-term position at the club.

Spurs have won only two of their last nine Premier League games and fell to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Tottenham Eyeing Marco Silva

According to CaughtOffside, certain senior figures at Tottenham are growing frustrated behind the scenes over the club’s performances under Frank this season.

While the Dane is not under immediate threat of losing his job, another dire run of results could end his time with Spurs prematurely, and the club appear to be eyeing several potential replacements already.

Silva is believed to be firmly among the names being considered, along with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and former manager Mauricio Pochettino, viewed as a ‘top candidate’.

Silva, praised as 'one of the best managers in the Premier League' by Calvin Bassey, took charge at Fulham in the summer of 2021 and led the Cottagers to the Championship title in his first season.

Under the Portuguese tactician, the West London club have finished 10th, 13th and 11th in the Premier League and set a club-record points tally last season with 54.

This term, the Cottagers are 14th with six wins from their first 16 games, two points below Tottenham, who are 11th.

Silva, as well as Glasner, are both out of contract at the end of the season, while Pochettino’s deal with the United States runs until after the 2026 World Cup.

Thomas Frank Under Pressure at Spurs

As GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano revealed this week, Frank is starting to feel pressure grow at Tottenham amid a difficult start to life in North London.

While senior Spurs figures are still waiting to see results improve, the Dane reportedly ‘knows’ he must improve performances soon to avoid losing his job mid-season.

Tottenham’s summer signings have also been underwhelming so far, with the trio of Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani combining for just three league goals.

Richarlison and Kudus have been the main attacking threats so far, with nine and eight goal involvements respectively.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes was spotted after the full-time whistle, acting 'absolutely furious' following their draw against Bournemouth.

The Red Devils were involved in an absolute thriller at Old Trafford, in a game that looked like both sides were going to take the three points at different stages. United opened the scoring early in the game, before Bournemouth hit back thanks to Antoine Semenyo. Casemiro scored late in the first half, meaning Ruben Amorim's side went into the break 2-1 up.

After half-time, the Cherries struck twice early on to flip the game on its head, but United did the same as Fernandes and Matheus Cunha scored late on. Just moments later, Bournemouth equalised to make it 4-4, with both sides undoubtedly disappointed with the result.

Bruno Fernandes Spotted 'Absolutely Furious' After Man Utd Draw

Journalist Steven Railston spotted Fernandes after the final whistle, with many United supporters already leaving the stadium, and the Portuguese midfielder was visibly angry as some of his team-mates tried to approach him.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham Hold Thomas Frank Talks as Sack Update Emerges - GiveMeSport
Description

Thomas Frank is under pressure at Tottenham Hotspur following a disappointing run of results, Fabrizio Romano has exclusively revealed in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

The Danish tactician has won just three of his last 11 games across all competitions and suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in what was arguably Spurs’ worst performance of the season.

While Frank insisted there is ‘no quick fix’ to solve the slump in form, Romano says Tottenham chiefs are waiting to see results improve before making any decision on the manager.

There are reportedly internal talks ongoing over the Dane’s future, with Frank knowing that he must turn his fortunes around to avoid prematurely ending his time in north London.

Thomas Frank Under Pressure at Spurs

Romano, writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, revealed that Frank is starting to feel pressure growing at Tottenham amid his difficult first six months in charge:

“There’s pressure, there are internal talks but still waiting to see results improving. Thomas Frank knows that the rhythm must change soon.”

Since beating Everton 3-0 on October 26, Tottenham have only won one of their last seven matches in the Premier League, against Frank’s former club Brentford, 2-0 last weekend.

The Lilywhites suffered their sixth defeat of the campaign on Sunday and their fourth during the aforementioned run.

Guglielmo Vicario was the subject of heavy scrutiny following the 3-0 loss at the City Ground after he gifted two easy goals to Callum Hudson-Odoi to give Forest an early lead.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Tottenham have conceded 13 goals in their last six league games.

Frank penned a three-year contract upon his appointment at Spurs in July, replacing sacked Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian tactician was relieved of his duties following a victory in the Europa League final against Manchester United and after overseeing a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham Eyeing Yan Diomande

Tottenham have spent heavily on reinforcements up front before the season, with Mohammed Kudus, Xabi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani joining.

However, the trio have managed just three Premier League goals between themselves so far and, as a result, Spurs are starting to look for extra firepower in attack ahead of 2026.

According to Romano, the Lilywhites are among several clubs keeping tabs on RB Leipzig rising star Yan Diomande amid his breakout year in Germany.

The 19-year-old has netted seven times and provided four assists in 16 appearances this season.

Worse Than Vicario: Frank Must Drop Mohammed Kudus to Save Tottenham Job

Worse Than Vicario: Thomas Frank Must Drop 3/10 Tottenham Dud to Save His Job - GiveMeSport
Description

Thomas Frank must seriously consider dropping Mohammed Kudus from his Tottenham Hotspur starting line-up after a far-from-convincing performance against Nottingham Forest.

The north London side were outclassed 3-0 at the City Ground on Sunday, with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario gifting the opposition two goals in another game to forget for the Italian.

Spurs arguably produced their worst performance of the season as they attempted just one shot on target and barely threatened Forest’s defence, with the front four of Richarlison, Xabi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Kudus struggling to trouble John Victor in goal on his Premier League debut.

Kudus’ display was particularly concerning for Frank, who may have a decision on his hands after Sunday’s defeat.

Frank Should Drop Mohammed Kudus

Kudus was given a 3/10 rating for his performance against Forest by journalist Alasdair Gold, with no Spurs player – not even Vicario – receiving a lower score:

“A performance with no end product. Constantly running into players rather than passing and had very little quality in what he did.

“Even forgot to get in the half-time huddle the players have started doing. It was entirely fitting with the day.”

Kudus attempted just one shot and registered one accurate cross out of nine on Sunday, while making 59 touches of the ball and completing 21 out of 28 passes.

The Ghanaian winger was replaced by Brennan Johnson for the final 10 minutes of play, but the Welshman struggled to ignite any spark in Spurs’ attack as he made just three touches of the ball.

Johnson has largely struggled for regular minutes following Kudus’ arrival from West Ham in the summer and remains someone Frank could turn to if he decides to drop Kudus following Sunday’s heavy defeat.

After scoring in back-to-back games at the start of the campaign, Johnson has gone goalless in his next 12 league appearances, making only six starts in total.

Frank Under Pressure at Tottenham

After securing back-to-back wins over Brentford and Slavia Prague, Tottenham have failed to ease further pressure on Frank following the heavy 3-0 loss on Sunday.

The Danish tactician continues to face intense scrutiny over his difficult start to life in north London, having won just 10 of his 25 games since taking charge in July.

Spurs have won three times in their last 11 games across all competitions and sit 11th in the Premier League, four points off the top five.

They next host Liverpool on Saturday, 20 December, before a London derby at Crystal Palace on Sunday, 28 December.

Dream Thomas Frank Replacement: Tottenham Must Hire Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Can Land Dream Frank Replacement in 'World-Class' Manager, He Wants PL Job - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham aren’t in crisis under Thomas Frank, but they’re certainly in a moment where big decisions may soon define the direction of the club. Performances have drifted through December 2025, questions around long-term progression are growing, and the mood among supporters has noticeably cooled.

And then Mauricio Pochettino appeared on BBC’s new series The Football Interview - and suddenly the conversation has shifted.

His comments were revealing, ambitious, and for Tottenham, impossible to ignore. If Spurs do ever reach a point where they need to consider life after Frank, there may be no better candidate than the man who once transformed the club.

Pochettino wants a Premier League return - and hasn’t closed the door on Spurs

Pochettino was unusually open about his ambitions. Now coaching the United States ahead of the 2026 World Cup, he made it clear that he watches the Premier League “a lot,” believes it remains “the best league in the world,” and admitted plainly:

“Of course I would love to come back again.”

But what will interest Spurs fans most is how warmly he spoke about his time in north London. He praised Daniel Levy, reflected proudly on the Champions League run, and described himself as “grateful” for the chance to manage the club. There was no tension, no bitterness - only admiration and unfinished business.

He also revealed the two things he still wants to achieve before the end of his managerial career: winning the Premier League and winning the Champions League.

He genuinely believes he came close with Spurs. And he didn’t hide his desire to try again.

Those aren’t the words of someone who considers his Tottenham chapter closed. Those are the words of someone who still sees the Premier League - and potentially Spurs - in his future.

Tottenham Should Move for Pochettino

This isn’t about disrespecting Thomas Frank. He’s stabilised the club, modernised the structure, and brought a calmness to Spurs that was badly needed. But the ceiling remains unclear - and the fans know it.

Pochettino, meanwhile, brings:

world-class pedigree

emotional connection

tactical identity

Premier League experience

a belief he can win major trophies

He wouldn’t need time to understand Spurs. He wouldn’t need a bedding-in period. He would return to a club he already elevated once - only now with even more experience behind him.

Frank may still succeed. He may still evolve this team.

But if Tottenham ever decide they need a proven, elite manager to take the club forward, one who wants the Premier League and still loves Spurs…

Mauricio Pochettino is the dream replacement.

'Typical' - Jamie Carragher Slams Tottenham Star Who Is 'Always Blaming Someone Else'

'Typical' - Jamie Carragher Slams Tottenham Star Who Is 'Always Blaming Someone Else' - GiveMeSport
Description

Tottenham’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest has intensified scrutiny on goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher launching a fierce critique of the Italian’s performance and behaviour during the match.

Carragher argued that Vicario not only contributed to the chaos defensively, but also showed a worrying habit of deflecting responsibility when goals go in.

“Typical Vicario, he’s always blaming someone else. Every time I see him when a goal goes in, he’s throwing his arms at someone else. Just kick it out of play,” Carragher said while reviewing the game.

The comments come after one of Spurs’ worst results of the season at the City Ground.

Carragher calls out Vicario after Forest defeat

Tottenham’s 3-0 loss saw defensive errors pile up, with Forest exploiting gaps, hesitation and miscommunication at the back — much of which originated from Vicario’s decisions under pressure.

Carragher highlighted one incident in particular, where Vicario attempted to play out from the back while Forest pressed aggressively. Instead of clearing his lines, the goalkeeper hesitated, played a risky pass, and left his defence scrambling. Seconds later, Forest capitalised and doubled their lead.

For Carragher, the mistake itself wasn’t the only problem. It was Vicario’s reaction.

The pundit criticised the goalkeeper for immediately signalling frustration at teammates rather than acknowledging his own role in the breakdown. According to Carragher, this has become a pattern both in this match and others this season.

Tottenham’s defensive structure - already fragile - was repeatedly exposed as Forest’s intensity overwhelmed them, and Vicario’s decision-making only heightened the problems.

Pressure grows on Spurs’ No.1 after heavy defeat

While Vicario has often been praised for his reflexes and shot-stopping, Tottenham’s collapse at Forest has renewed questions about whether he is suited to the high-risk, possession-driven approach Thomas Frank wants from his goalkeeper.

The 3–0 defeat was more than a poor result - it was a reflection of deeper issues. Spurs struggled to build from the back, lost confidence early, and never recovered control of the match. Vicario’s uncertainty only added to the sense of instability, and Carragher’s challenge publicly spotlights what many fans have been feeling for weeks.

With Tottenham slipping and pressure on Frank already increasing, the goalkeeper position is now firmly under the microscope heading into a crucial period of the season.

Carragher’s message was blunt: Vicario needs to simplify, take responsibility, and stop creating problems Tottenham can’t afford.

Whether the Italian responds in the coming fixtures could define Spurs’ trajectory for the rest of the campaign.
