Crystal Palace have reportedly opened talks to sign a Tottenham star on loan ahead of the 2026/2027 season, according to a report from Sports Boom.

The Eagles are already preparing for the summer transfer window as they look to maintain their impressive performances following the departure of Oliver Glasner.

The current Palace boss is set to leave at the end of the season, with Palace working on finding a replacement at the moment.

According to a report from Sports Boom, Crystal Palace have entered talks with Tottenham over a potential deal to sign young striker Will Lankshear.

It's claimed that the Eagles are negotiating with Spurs over a potential loan deal for the 21-year-old who spent this season at Oxford United.

Despite the disappointing season of being relegated from the Championship, Lankshear enjoyed an impressive campaign individually.

The Tottenham striker secured two accolades at the end-of-season awards, collecting the Men's Young Player of the Year trophy and the Golden Boot.

Lankshear is set to be given an opportunity to impress in pre-season, but there's still a chance he could be sent out on loan.

Lankshear Could be Mateta Replacement

Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta was heavily linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

A departure failed to materialise, but it appeared to be clear that he was keen on leaving the club in the winter.

It will be interesting to see whether an exit is possible in the summer transfer window, meaning Palace will have to find a replacement.

The Eagles did bring in Jorgen Strand-Larsen from Wolves in the January window, but they will still be left short of options if Mateta does leave the club.

Liverpool are understood to have already made a move for the Netherlands international, who is valued at around £60m by the Seagulls, but Spurs are very big fans of the defender, and now De Zerbi has revealed to club bosses that he wants the 25-year-old as his top target.

Brighton are facing a battle to keep hold of him, with his contract expiring in 2027 and no progress on talks of an extension. Now Tottenham are keen to step up their interest, with De Zerbi pushing for a reunion with the defender, who is ready to make the next step in his career, with the club feeling that could give them an advantage in talks.

According to Di Natale, posting on X, Tottenham are one of a number of clubs to make 'recent' contact over a potential transfer for the Juventus star.

AC Milan and Barcelona had already made enquiries over a deal for the 'world-class' 26-year-old Italy international, who has three years remaining on his contract at the Allianz Stadium.

Now, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester City, Inter Milan and Napoli have joined them in opening talks over a summer move.

Tottenham and De Zerbi appear to be keeping a close eye on the Italian market ahead of the summer, with reports also suggesting that the 46-year-old manager wants the club to make a double raid on AS Roma for midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini and goalkeeper Mile Svilar.

Cambiaso Interest Raises More Doubts Over Robertson Deal

Tottenham's reported interest in another player who either plays as a left-back or left wing-back for Juventus is slightly confusing, given they already have an agreement in place with Andy Robertson that he will sign should they remain in the Premier League.

Separate reports have suggested that De Zerbi is also keen on Pervis Estupinan of AC Milan, who he managed during his spell at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Cambiaso is also able to play on the opposite flank, but he has primarily been used on the left-hand side during his time with Juve.

The interesting thing about the Robertson deal is that Tottenham came close to signing him during the January transfer window, prior to De Zerbi's appointment at Tottenham.

With an agreement so close at that stage, it wouldn't have taken too much work to set the deal up for the summer instead.

How involved De Zerbi was in that decision remains to be seen, but links to other left-backs are confusing to say the least, even if Robertson is 32 years of age, with no extra European fixtures on the menu next term.

Joao Palhinha is only on loan for the season, with no guarantees of a permanent deal, although GIVEMESPORT understands the Portuguese wants to stay, even if the club are relegated.

Yves Bissouma will depart at the end of his contract this summer, while Pape Matar Sarr could also depart the club for pastures new.

That could see De Zerbi enter the market for a central midfielder and Mandela Keita has emerged as a potential candidate.

Keita has spent the last two seasons with Parma in Serie A, becoming the lynchpin of their midfield, missing just one game through injury this season and starting 33 of the 34 other matches in the division.

The 23-year-old models his game on former Chelsea star N'Golo Kante and Bareclona's Frenkie de Jong. Speaking when he joined the Italian outfit, he said: "If I think about football today, I would mention two players in particular: N’Golo Kanté and Frenkie de Jong. I don’t want to become a carbon copy of them, I’d like to take some characteristics from each of them to improve my own game and reach the highest level I can.

"I hope that the manager will help me to improve, even if he inspires me to become like one or the other, for me it doesn’t matter.”

According to reports, Spurs have registered an interest in the midfielder this season, although they are not alone, with Aston Villa and Atalanta also named as suitors for Keita's services.

Parma signed Keita for €15million in 2024 and would likely demand more than that to sell him now, given his stock will only have risen with his 2025/26 season displays.

But while Spurs are keen to keep hold of him if they can, they know a move is going to be hard to stop if those clubs make a big-money move during the transfer window.

Now it has emerged that Van de Ven's preference would be a move to Anfield above all else, having grown up as a Liverpool fan as a youngster. That includes Man Utd, and he would choose Liverpool over the Red Devils 'without hesitation' if both clubs were to table formal offers.

Van de Ven would, however, be open to a move to Old Trafford if Liverpool didn't present an offer during the window, realising that United are a club on the up and in a good moment currently, but they would face an uphill task to secure his signature if Arne Slot's side chose to enter the race.

Liverpool Deal for Van de Ven Would Be Perfect

Tottenham have to simply accept that Van de Ven is far more likely to be playing for someone else next season, and therefore need to start planning accordingly.

Liverpool will have money to spend during the transfer window, and central defence should be an area of the pitch that they are prioritising. Van de Ven knows the league, has great speed and ability on the ball, and also provides a goal threat from set pieces.

He's far from the complete package, but giving him a year to work alongside Van Dijk and develop, before stepping into a more senior role could be perfect for everyone involved.

Spurs are currently battling to stay in the Premier League after a horrific season, which has seen them sack both Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor as manager, with Roberto De Zerbi now in charge of keeping them in the division, and consecutive wins have left the team one point above the drop zone with three games remaining.

That has seen the club begin to make plans for the new season should they stay in the top-flight, and a new goalscoring midfielder is being targeted for the squad.

Tottenham Eyeing Nygren Move

Nygren, who has won the Celtic Player of the Year award for his maiden campaign, where he has scored 20 goals to help the Glasgow giants push the Scottish Premiership title race all the way to the wire.

Tottenham are understood to be long-term admirers of the Sweden international, and view him as a cost-effective option to strengthen their midfield, since he is capable of playing in a deeper or more advanced role in midfield.

Nygren is understood to be very open to a move to the Premier League this summer, but Celtic have all the leverage for any deal as he is under contract until 2029, with an option to extend for a further 12 months also included in his deal at Celtic Park.

Celtic are open to a sale for the right price, however, and would be open to negotiations if they could get a big fee in order to help them fund a squad rebuild of their own. Nygren is keen to test himself at a higher level, and Celtic are ready to cash in on both him and Arne Engels for a combined fee of £50m.

Tottenham Must Be Smart With Summer Budget

Tottenham are currently in a very difficult position when it comes to planning for the summer transfer window, because they have no idea what division they will be in, or which players they will still have next season.

A host of key players have been strongly linked with moves away because they will be absent from European competition, and that means replacements will be sought after on top of any positions that De Zerbi deems isn't strong enough yet.

Nygren will be a solid option to come into the midfield and be able to cope with the technical demands that the manager will be implementing, while he also has experience at the top level. This could be a really shrewd bit of business from Tottenham, considering they have a lot of business to do and likely a limited budget to work with.

Reports emerged that Spurs are eyeing the veteran defender as an option after he announced that he would be leaving Rangers at the end of his contract.

But while speaking to Football Insider, transfer insider Mick Brown revealed that the 35-year-old is eyeing a 'big payday' for his next move, and that it would be a huge surprise if Tottenham, or any other Premier League clubs, seriously joined the race for him.

“James Tavernier has had a fantastic career,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s done a brilliant job for Rangers over a period of time, scoring and creating so many goals from right-back and always being a key part of that side. He’s very highly regarded in the game, but I would be very surprised if any Premier League club made a move for him, let alone a club like Tottenham.

“He’ll be 35 by the end of the year, and I can’t imagine many clubs are going to their sporting directors saying lets bring in this 35-year-old right-back. Being available on a free makes it more of an option than it may have been otherwise, but regardless, I don’t see any top club looking to bring him in at this stage.

“I think at his age and after deciding to leave Rangers, Tavernier is going to be looking for a big payday in Saudi Arabia or somewhere like that.”

Tottenham Avoid Disaster With Tavernier

On paper, Tavernier could be a shrewd bit of business on a free transfer when you look at his record from right-back and his experience.

But there is a reason that he has struggled at Ibrox in recent years, and his performance levels have dropped off a cliff, which has seen Danny Rohl start picking alternative options ahead of him, despite the team pushing for another title against Celtic and Hearts.

Defensively, Tavernier is a mess and he wouldn't fit in with De Zerbi's system at all, so it would have been a huge disaster had this deal gone through. Now, it seems like they've avoided that huge error, and they can focus on deals that actually make them better.

Roberto De Zerbi is already making plans to transform his defence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

There is a feeling around the club that Cristian Romero will be allowed to leave the Lilywhites in the summer transfer window, with plenty of interest from abroad in the Spurs club captain.

GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs described Romero's situation as being a "begrudging exit" this summer.

He said: "I think Tottenham are resigned and almost prepared to endorse certain exits, whether they go down or stay up.

"In the case of Cristian Romero it is a more begrudging exit in that even if Tottenham do stay up there is a concrete possibility that he goes."

More defenders will follow Romero out of Tottenham

Romero is likely to be followed out of the door by Radu Dragusin, who is being linked with a number of clubs on the continent, while Ben Davies will depart at the end of his contract in June.

But coming in should be Andy Robertson from Liverpool and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth, with Spurs having deals agreed in principle to sign the two free agents, providing they remain a Premier League club.

And Tottenham are also working on a deal - or maybe double deal - to reunite De Zerbi with one or two of his favourite players from his time at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Jan Paul van Hecke has been one of the standout stars in a Seagulls side that is on the cusp of European qualification this season. the Dutchman has played the full 90 minutes in 32 of the Seagull's 35 Premier League games this season, missing two matches through injury and illness and being substituted after an hour in one match.

De Zerbi arrived on the south coast in 2022, with van Hecke having joined a year previously. The defender had not been given much of a chance before the Italian arrived, having spent a year on loan with Blackburn. But De Zerbi transformed him.

Speaking about his improvement, De Zerbi said: "He is improving in an incredible way. He’s actually older than his age. His level is high, higher than people think. I am very proud of JP, his improvement has been fantastic."

Seagulls captain Lewis Dunk said in 2024: "It's the biggest improvement I've ever seen in a player since this manager arrived and I love it. He will give you everything he's got, every single day."

Spurs step up interest in Chelsea and Liverpool target

Now, according to reports in Teamtalk, Spurs are ready to make the first steps to bring him to north London this summer, with De Zerbi identifying the 25-year-old as a priority signing this summer.

Chelsea and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest, but the connection with De Zerbi may just give Tottenham the upper hand as they look to make their first move to negotiate terms of a deal with Brighton.

There are reports that van Hecke may not be the only one Spurs go to Brighton for, with Bart Verburggen also being named as a potential signing this summer. Guglielmo Vicario looks set to depart the club this summer, with Inter Milan his likely destination, so a new goalkeeper will be imperative when it comes to Spurs' transfer business.

Following the weekend's fixtures, Tottenham have Premier League survival back in their own hands after they leapfrogged West Ham United in the table following their 2-1 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday.

It appears as though it will be a straight fight between Spurs and their London neighbours for the final relegation spot alongside Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Nottingham Forest and Leeds United hitting impressive form in recent weeks.

Forest are unbeaten in the league since March 1 and have won four of their last five games, including Monday's 3-1 win at Chelsea, to pull six points clear of the bottom three with three games remaining.

Leeds and Crystal Palace are a further point ahead, with the former potentially having a big say in who goes down as they travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday night, before being hosted by West Ham on the final day of the season.

Roberto De Zerbi Wants Tottenham to Sign Roma Duo

According to Calciomercato, Tottenham will look to AS Roma in the summer to strengthen their squad with more confidence they will stay up after taking seven points from the last nine available under De Zerbi.

The Italian manager is ready to have a big say in the club's transfer business, and he is influencing the interest in prising both Mile Svilar and Lorenzo Pellegrini away from the Italian capital this summer.

Tottenham will be looking for a new number one goalkeeper should they preserve their Premier League status, with Guglielmo Vicario expected to return to Serie A having already agreed terms with Inter Milan.

Svilar could be sold by Roma for around £43m, which would represent a huge profit for the club as they brought the stopper in on a free transfer in 2022.

Meanwhile, Pellegrini is set to be available on a free transfer with no progress over contract talks with the Italian midfielder, who would need to take a pay cut to stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

De Zerbi Facing Big Tottenham Midfield Decision

Should Tottenham stay in the Premier League, De Zerbi is facing some big decisions as to what to do with his midfield next season.

For large parts of this campaign, the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have been favoured in the middle, with starts sometimes limited for more experienced players like Conor Gallagher and Joao Palhinha.

However, Gallagher and Palhinha have been selected by De Zerbi in recent games and, as well as their defensive output, they have popped up with a goal apiece in the wins against Wolves and Aston Villa too.

Alongside Rodrigo Bentancur, the trio were outstanding against Villa Park, but it has left impressive youngsters Gray and Bergvall on the bench at the same time.

Should those five remain at the club next season - Palhinha wants to sign permanently even if the club is relegated, according to GIVEMESPORT sources - it would be interesting to add Pellegrini, who has captained Roma on occasion, into the mix too.

Tottenham would surely have to get rid of one or two names, given we haven't even mentioned Yves Bissouma or Pape Matar Sarr.

It was an impressive run in the Champions League, but Atletico Madrid have now bowed out at the semi-final stage. Diego Simeone's side were beaten by Arsenal 2-1 on aggregate, with the English team now set to play either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Goals from Viktor Gyokeres and Julian Alvarez had seen the first leg end in a 1-1 draw. As such, Bukayo Saka's close-range finish, scored on the brink of half-time, was just enough to see the Gunners across the line at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

Arsenal are now in their first Champions League final since 2006, having lost that match 2-1 to Barcelona, while Atletico Madrid have failed to make it that far, having most recently lost finals in 2016 and 2014 to rivals Real Madrid.

Simeone's team have come up against some impressive sides across the course of the season. They lost 3-2 to Liverpool at Anfield in the opening match of the League Phase, and later beat Inter Milan 2-1 in Spain.

They then came up against Premier League opposition again in the last 16, beating Tottenham Hotspur 7-5 across two thrilling legs, before overcoming Spanish rivals Barcelona, with a 3-2 win on aggregate in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal, however, proved a step too far for Atletico in 2025/26, with the Gunners the better side across both Champions League legs.

Simeone Names 'Best Team' To Play Atletico in 2025/26

Having also played Real Madrid twice in La Liga this season, winning at home and losing away – as well as losing to Los Blancos in the Supercopa de Espana, Simeone has now revealed which team was the toughest to play. He had no doubts when it came to handing out that status to Arsenal, explaining:

“Well if we got knocked out it’s because our opponents deserved to get through. They took their big chance in the first-half and they deserved to get through. I feel calm, I feel peaceful.

“We weren’t clinical enough with the situations we were in. We improved in the second-half. There were things that could’ve gone our way but they didn’t.

“We gave it our all and now we have to accept the place that we are in. Thanks to our supporters and players I feel proud to be where we are right now. I said we wanted to compete and we have done that. Unfortunately we haven’t won anything but we have got to places that are hard to get to.

“Arsenal were the better team over these two legs, they are the best team we have faced this season. They play with a rhythm and a conviction that is very difficult to contain.”

After the defeat, Atletico's season is now as good as over with only four La Liga games left to play. They currently sit fourth in the league, five points behind Villarreal in third and 10 points above Real Betis in fifth.
