Description

Thomas Frank has lifted the lid on a trio of Tottenham stars who have impressed him at different levels this season, although fans are still waiting for more from one of them.

It was an eventful summer transfer window for Tottenham as expectations were high after the Europa League triumph that earned the club a spot in this season’s Champions League.

Fans hoped this European success would attract big names, yet the window was filled with drama; frustration at missing out on targets, a slow start from the club in signing players, last-minute deal collapses, lawsuits and high-profile exits.

Despite all that, Tottenham still delivered one of their most impressive windows under Daniel Levy, spending a whopping £170.6 million on arrivals.

Big names such as Mohammed Kudus from West Ham (£55 million), Xavi Simons from Leipzig (£51 million), alongside loans of Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich and deadline day signing Randal Kolo Muani from PSG, arrived at the club.

Several of these players, particularly Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha, have already cemented themselves as regular starters under Thomas Frank, contributing heavily to Tottenham’s strong start under the new boss.

Thomas Frank hails three Tottenham summer signings

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Thomas Frank was asked to give his assessment of the summer signings and how they have performed so far.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Spurs boss had plenty of praise for them, saying, “I think they’ve been very good. All three of them, I think. Mohammed Kudus came from day one, and I think he’s been very good. Hit the ground running, more or less, from day one. But, you know, more (importantly), good thing he got his goal against Leeds. I think he’s been extremely important in the way we attack, creating things. So, I’m very pleased with his performance so far.”

Speaking on Joao Palhinha, Frank added, “Palhinha came a little bit later and just gave us that little bit extra foundation, solidness, in the middle of the park.”

He also touched on Xavi Simons, noting his gradual adaptation to Premier League football. “And Xavi Simons now is growing into it (the game) more and more, (We are) seeing more of the offensive actions we like to see from him.”

Spurs still need more to reach the next level

Mohammed Kudus has already impressed as Tottenham’s highest-rated player this season, leading the league in assists and successful dribbles in Europe, beating the likes of Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe.

Joao Palhinha is also dominating defensively, leading the chart for most tackles in Europe, while also being the club’s joint second top scorer.

However, it’s not a surprise that Thomas Frank needs reinforcements with the biggest gap remaining on the left flank. Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, who has nine goal contributions in nine games, and Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche. Striker cover is also a priority, as injuries and form issues have left the attacking line thin.

Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou may already know his next job after Forest sack - Spurs Web
Description

It has emerged that former Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou may not have to wait too long to be back in football.

Postecoglou’s return to the Premier League was much quicker than Spurs fans would have expected after his sacking in the summer.

However, it did not prove a happy return for the former Tottenham boss, who lasted just 39 days at Forest after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo.

Postecoglou was sacked by the Midlands club last Saturday, almost immediately following their defeat to Chelsea, with the 60-year-old leaving the City Ground without a single win in his eight games in charge.

Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou may know his next job

According to Football Insider, Postecoglou could be an option for Celtic amid doubts over the long-term future of Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers’ current deal runs out next summer, and he has not shown an interest in extending his contract so far.

It is revealed that the former Leicester boss is growing frustrated with the lack of backing and ambition from the board, and is seriously considering walking away at the end of the campaign.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss is mentioned as a possible replacement for Rodgers at the Glasgow giants. It is asserted that Postecoglou would ‘seriously consider’ returning to Celtic Park if offered the opportunity.

Some Tottenham fans were outraged when Postecoglou was sacked after delivering the Europa League trophy, with many feeling that he had earned the right to build on his achievement.

Mikey Moore’s development is now in the hands of 36-year-old as Tottenham watch on - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are monitoring Mikey Moore from afar, but a managerial change at Rangers could have a direct impact on his development.

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans will be keeping a close eye on the progress of one of their most highly rated academy products, Mikey Moore.

The teenager burst onto the scene under Ange Postecoglou last season, making 19 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions and earning widespread praise for his composure and flair on the ball.

This campaign, Tottenham opted to send the 18-year-old out on loan, with Scottish giants Rangers securing his signature in a move that was expected to provide valuable first-team experience.

Tottenham will keep a keen eye on Mikey Moore situation

Mikey Moore’s loan spell has not been smooth, with the youngster yet to make a significant impact, registering just two assists and zero goals in eleven appearances for the Scottish side.

In the last three weeks, Moore has come off the bench twice for Rangers in eight and seven minute cameos against Livingstone and Dundee United, respectively, as well as a 61-minute run-out against Falkirk.

Fortunately, Moore left his mark on the Dundee match, jinking down the right wing and registering a lovely cut-back assist for a vital equaliser.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Rangers themselves have endured a turbulent spell of late and recently parted ways with Russell Martin, leaving uncertainty over the team’s direction. Now, the SPL side finally have a new man in charge.

Who is Danny Röhl? Moore’s new manager at Rangers

Rangers have opted for youthful exuberance over significant experience in the dugout, hiring 36-year-old Danny Röhl as their new permanent manager. To put that into perspective, Fraser Forster, who played for Spurs last season, is 37 years old.

Röhl’s only senior management experience is a two-year stint with Sheffield Wednesday, where he secured Championship survival in his first season, before climbing to 12th in his second.

For the most part, Röhl adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation or a 3-4-2-1 formation during the 2024/25 season. The former included a number 10 and two inside wingers, while the latter involved two attacking midfielders behind a striker.

Seeing as Mikey Moore can play both as a winger and an attacking midfielder, you would think the Tottenham youngster will get chances to impress over the coming weeks.

Jamie O’Hara has now provided a brutally honest assessment of Tottenham Hotspur and Xavi Simons, after the club’s latest defeat to Aston Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur’s recent defeat at home to Aston Villa has sparked a wave of discontent within the fanbase.

Spurs were lacklustre against Unai Emery’s side, letting an early lead slip as they fell to a 2-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Many Tottenham supporters have since voiced their frustrations following the Villa defeat, with several claiming to know exactly what the problem is at the club.

Now, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara has joined in on the debate, offering a scathing review of both the performance and certain players.

Jamie O’Hara criticises Tottenham and Xavi Simons after Aston Villa defeat

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jamie O’Hara did not hold back in his criticism of Spurs’ display, describing it as both poor and uninspired.

He questioned the team’s tactics and the lack of creativity in attack, expressing disbelief at the limited approach, before slamming Xavi Simons‘ recent performances.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He said: “Shocking, really poor. I am surprised they are not doing set pieces and long throws again because that is all I saw from us at the weekend.

“I do not mate, I am not sure about this Thomas Frank, Bridgey, the long throw situation and that sort of style of football we are playing. I can understand it to a certain degree, but we have to mix it up.

“We have got to use our creative players. Xavi Simons, Bridgey, he has not started in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt yet. He has been miles off it. He needs to be better.”

O’Hara on Tottenham’s season expectations and performances

O’Hara also shared his thoughts on what would define a good season for Spurs, making it clear that he wants more than just results – he wants consistency and identity.

Speaking further to Sky Sports, he outlined his expectations. “European football, mate. We get European football, I think you accept that from where we were, finishing 17th last season,” O’Hara said.

“But I want to see consistent performances. Our home form is terrible. I want to see consistency. I want to see a Thomas Frank team who, when we started, Bridgey, I do not know what you think, but we looked like we had energy in midfield, we looked like we were pressing high, we were playing on the front foot. Now, all of a sudden, that feels like it has changed a little bit.”

Thomas Frank breaks silence on what Tottenham fans should expect this season

Thomas Frank breaks silence on what Tottenham fans should expect this season - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank shared a measured response when asked about his targets for the season as Tottenham look to compete on four fronts.

Thomas Frank’s start to life at Tottenham Hotspur has largely impressed supporters, even if results have dipped slightly of late.

The former Brentford manager arrived at Spurs after the shock sacking of Ange Postecoglou, coming just two weeks after the Australian had delivered the club’s first bit of silverware in 17 years, the Europa League trophy.

That triumph, though, came alongside a disastrous domestic campaign that saw Spurs finish 17th in the Premier League.

While Postecoglou left with a medal, he also left the bar much higher for his successor and Frank, who’s still chasing his first managerial trophy, knows expectations in north London have changed.

Thomas Frank opens up on his Tottenham vision

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, when asked about his aims and targets for the rest of the campaign after a strong start to the season, the Tottenham boss responded:

“I think we, of course, we (would) like to do very good and very well and all that. I said from the beginning, we (would) like to compete in all tournaments and compete is, of course, also the ultimate. You know, to do fantastically.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

He continued: “And I think we need to keep building, we need to keep adding layers. I think it’s been a great start. You can see a lot of things we can improve. I like us to be more dominant at times, but I think the foundation and the solidness in the team, I think it’s very good and I think that’s something to build on.”

Thomas Frank thinks managing minutes is crucial to compete

Although he didn’t bring up trophies directly, Thomas Frank is well aware that Tottenham fans expect him to deliver silverware. Still, it seems as if his approach is more about building something sustainable rather than chasing short-term glory.

Speaking last month, Frank explained that managing players’ minutes will be key if Spurs are to go deep in all four tournaments. He also admitted that it’s impossible for a player to play every single match and stressed the need for smarter rotation and a balanced squad to keep performance levels high.

It’s something Spurs are still working on. The first team looks strong, but depth remains a concern in certain areas. That said, Frank will definitely need reinforcements this winter to maintain that balance through the season in order to compete in all competitions and end the season with some silverware.

Tottenham are keeping a close watch on one of Ligue 1’s brightest prospects, with their upcoming Champions League clash set to play a key role in a potential transfer move.

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche was first reported during the summer transfer window, when Spurs were exploring wide attacking options to bolster their frontline.

While the club eventually moved for Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons, Akliouche stayed put in France despite firm interest from north London.

Since the start of this season, the Monaco winger has continued to impress, recording two goals and one assist in nine appearances so far.

Tottenham monitoring Maghnes Akliouche ahead of Champions League tie

Tottenham’s search for additional attacking depth has not ended, with the club continuing to assess wide forwards across Europe.

Among those still under consideration is Maghnes Akliouche, who remains on their radar alongside Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

According to teamTalk, Spurs have maintained their interest in Akliouche and plan to keep a particularly close eye on him during their Champions League meeting with AS Monaco.

The report adds that while Antoine Semenyo is currently viewed as Tottenham’s primary target, Akliouche remains part of the discussion among alternative options being monitored by Thomas Frank’s recruitment team.

Maghnes Akliouche addresses Tottenham transfer talk

Ahead of the Champions League clash, Maghnes Akliouche was asked about Tottenham’s previous summer interest in him.

The winger admitted that he was aware of the links but made it clear that his focus remains firmly on AS Monaco.

Speaking about the reports, he said: “It was very flattering to have these kind of stories and links, but I am a Monaco player and I am playing against Tottenham tomorrow, so I will give my best.

“In terms of whether I want to play in the Premier League in the future? Why not, but we will see. What is important for me is tomorrow’s game. I am not focused at all on other links and pressure.”

Thomas Frank explains why he thinks Tottenham are better away than at home

Thomas Frank explains why he thinks Tottenham are better away than at home - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has now spoken about Tottenham’s contrasting form at home and away in the Premier League this season.

Spurs have the joint best away record in the Premier League this season, having secured 10 points from a possible 12 on offer.

However, Tottenham have the fourth-worst home record this season, having secured just four points from their four Premier League fixtures at N17.

Only the three clubs in the relegation zone, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Wolves, have a worse record at home than the Lilywhites, whose only win at their stadium was the opening day victory over Burnley.

Thomas Frank reveals why Tottenham are struggling at home

Following the loss against Aston Villa on Sunday, Frank remarked that Spurs’ performances at home have been better than the results suggest.

The Tottenham boss has now elaborated on what he thinks is behind the Lilywhites’ contrasting fortunes when they play in front of their own supporters compared to when they travel.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked if he could explain the imbalance between the results at home and away this season, Frank told Sky Sports: “I don’t know exactly. It depends on who you are facing – that can be home and away. I know at home you may play in a specific way, and other teams are playing in a specific way against you, compared to when you go away.

“And then the team opens up a little bit more, so you can hit them a little bit more on the counter, so you don’t have to create everything from scratch and 11 players behind the ball. But I just think definitely the away form has been very good in terms of what we said before.

“I think we’ve been extremely good in the foundation in football, in terms of we have a good base in the middle, low block and also very high. I think it’s very important that we probably have the most aggressive teams in high-pressure situations. And I think that’s a big part of why we are also quite good away from home. We need to continue tomorrow against a very good team, but we’re up for that.”

Pundit suggests Spurs have an off-pitch problem at home

One pundit has now suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are not only struggling on the pitch at home, but their fans are also not delivering the goods in the stands.

Gabby Agbonlahor remarked that the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was poor against Aston Villa, claiming that it was ‘very quiet’ throughout the game.

The former Villa striker compared the atmosphere to a kid’s party and suggested that the Spurs fans did not get behind the team despite the players’ best efforts to get a reaction from them.

How much Tottenham can earn by beating Monaco in the Champions League - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will want a win away at Monaco to put themselves in a strong position in the Champions League table, but they also have a big financial incentive to win in France this evening.

Tottenham started their Champions League campaign with a win over Villarreal at home, but the Lilywhites’ performance was not anything to write home about.

Spurs were also not particularly convincing away at Bodo/Glimt on matchday two, but they did show great character to come back from 2-0 down to salvage a point.

They have now travelled to France to take on Monaco, who held Manchester City to a 2-2 draw at home in their last Champions League outing.

A win at Monaco will be very financially rewarding for Tottenham

According to Sky Sports, just by qualifying for the league phase of the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur and the other 35 teams earned a prize money of £15.7m.

The outlet says that each win at this stage of the competition sees teams earn £1.8m, while a draw will see £590k come into their coffers.

Tottenham can earn an additional £1.7m if they finish in the top eight in the league phase and go straight through the round of sixteen stage of the Champions League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Why Spurs need a win against Monaco

Monaco have not been particularly impressive domestically this season, and Spurs have a great opportunity to put themselves in the driving seat by picking up three more points.

Tottenham have a difficult end to the league phase of the Champions League, with the Lilywhites facing Paris Saint-Germain, Slavia Prague, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in their final four matches.

They will thus need to win against Monaco and Copenhagen to give themselves a good chance of finishing in the top eight and avoiding the extra knockout round.

Ahead of Monaco’s showdown with Tottenham Hotspur this evening, one of the Ligue 1 side’s star men has spoken about the speculation linking him with a move to N17.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie have been ruled out of Tottenham’s crucial clash against Monaco this evening as the Lilywhites look to get back to winning ways after their bruising loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Spurs face a difficult challenge as the Ligue 1 side showed on matchday two that they are no pushovers, managing to hold Manchester City to a draw.

According to Opta’s Supercomputer, Tottenham go into the clash against Monaco as slight favourites, with the North Londoners being handed a 41.2 per cent chance of winning, compared to Monaco’s 33.8 per cent.

Monaco starlet Maghnes Akliouche discusses speculation about Tottenham move

The danger man for Tottenham Hotspur will undoubtedly be Maghnes Akliouche, with the winger having had a meteoric rise and broken into the French national side.

Akliouche was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham during the summer window, and the 23-year-old has now admitted that he was flattered by the reports, but made it clear that his focus will be on beating the Premier League side.

The versatile attacker said (via George Sessions): “It was very flattering to have these kinds of stories and Tottenham links, but I am a Monaco player.

“I am playing against Tottenham tomorrow, so I will give my best. The important thing for us is to win. I am not focused at all on other links and pressure.”

He also revealed that he is looking forward to a reunion with a familiar face, with whom he played during his Under-21 days.

Akliouche told Monaco’s official website: “Of course, we want to win. What’s more, the match against Tottenham will be at home; we really enjoy playing here with our fans. It’s going to be an important match, and we have the ability to do something, so we’ll have to give it our all to get the win.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans have received some very bad news about an experienced defender after his latest injury blow.

Spurs have been decimated by injuries in each of their last two seasons, and Thomas Frank has made it clear that plans have been made to avoid another injury crisis this season.

However, the early signs are not positive. Tottenham are currently without 10 first-team players, with Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie the latest to be added to the treatment table.

Romero and Udogie’s injuries are not serious, according to Frank, but the Spurs head coach has now provided bad news about another senior man.

According to an update on Tottenham’s official website, Ben Davies will also miss the club’s Champions League clash against Monaco this evening.

It is revealed that the defender is suffering from a hamstring strain, which he picked up while playing for Wales during the international break.

While an exact timeline is not given for the 32-year-old’s return, Frank is quoted as saying that the former Swansea man will be out of action for ‘weeks’.
