Description

A couple of Tottenham stars had outings to forget on Thursday and one man’s performance, in particular, will concern Thomas Frank.

Some of Tottenham Hotspur’s attackers have not been firing on all cylinders at the start of the season.

In fact, some pundits feel that Spurs have been overreliant on Mohammed Kudus in attack so far this season, and it is hard to argue against that.

Tottenham’s top scorer from last season, Brennan Johnson, has also looked rusty, with the Wales winger losing his place in Thomas Frank’s starting eleven after scoring in the club’s two Premier League games of the season.

Tottenham will be concerned about Brennan Johnson’s struggles for Wales

Thomas Frank would have hoped that the former Nottingham Forest man would build up his confidence during the international break with some good performances for Wales, but that did not happen on Thursday.

The 24-year-old put in a disappointing showing against England at Wembley on Thursday, being completely ineffectual, with talkSPORT handing Johnson a rating of just two out of 10.

His Tottenham teammate, Ben Davies, did not fare better, also being handed the same match rating as the Three Lions emerged 3-0 winners.

However, in fairness to the Spurs duo, they were not the only ones to have poor outings for the Dragons, with over half their side earning a two out of 10 rating for their displays.

One Spurs star impressed at Wembley

While Tottenham’s Welsh duo had an evening to forget, Djed Spence impressed in his first start for England.

The 25-year-old played the majority of the game at left-back, coming up directly against Johnson, and he gave his Spurs teammate no joy down the Welsh right.

On the back of that performance, Spence will feel that he has gone a long way towards making himself a certainty for the World Cup squad.

Djed Spence has poked fun at his Tottenham teammate Brennan Johnson after coming up against the winger when England took on Wales on Thursday.

Spence played all 90 minutes in his first start for England as they overcame Wales 3-0 at Wembley.

The Tottenham full-back played as a left-back for the majority of the encounter, which meant that he directly came up against Brennan Johnson, who started on the right for the Dragons.

The Spurs winger did not get any joy against his club teammate and was replaced by Craig Bellamy on 76 minutes, and Spence is certainly not letting him forget who came out on top in their battle.

Spence has welcomed a number of wingers into his ‘petentiary’ over recent weeks, and he is not shy of announcing his dominance over them on social media.

It is now widely acknowledged that Spence is one of the best one-v-one defenders in the Premier League, and Johnson became the latest to find out just how difficult it is to get the better of the 25-year-old.

After making his first start for England, Spence wrote on Instagram: “Very Happy to get my first England start with a Great Win. But forget about all that emotional stuff for a second .. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE INEVITABLE. LET’S TAKE A WALK TO THE PENITENTIARY BROTHER.”

He shared a series of images, including the following, showing his dominance over his Tottenham teammate.

Spence is quickly building an aura

While the Tottenham man’s confidence is bordering on arrogance, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Spence is openly challenging any winger to get the better of him, and no one has been able to so far.

The full-back is now building an aura, and one can see that wide-players are now having second thoughts about even taking him on.

Robbie Keane reveals what Tottenham legend Heung-min Son is like in person - Spurs Web
Description

Robbie Keane has now shared his thoughts on why Heung-min Son continues to shine even after leaving Tottenham and the Premier League.

An emotional Heung-min Son bid farewell to N17 and the Tottenham Hotspur faithful last summer, marking the end of a decade-long stay in north London.

The Korean forward cemented his place as a Tottenham legend after captaining the side to Europa League glory in Bilbao, Spain, where they ended a 17-year wait for silverware with a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Now turning out for Los Angeles FC, Son continues to display the same sharpness, intelligence, and professionalism that made him one of the most respected players to ever grace the Premier League.

Robbie Keane praises Tottenham legend Heung-min Son for LAFC form

Robbie Keane, who also made the move from north London to Los Angeles during his playing career, knows exactly what it takes to adapt and thrive in the MLS, and he has now shared his thoughts on what lies behind Son’s success in America.

Son has scored eight goals in nine MLS appearances, including seven in his last five outings. The Irishman, who scored 83 league goals in 125 appearances for LA Galaxy, believes that the Korean’s relentless work ethic is the driving force behind his success.

Speaking to the MLS’ official YouTube channel, Keane said: “I am not surprised with Son doing well at LAFC, because I know him personally, I know him, he is an unbelievable character.

“He is full of energy. Giroud is a different player, he needs a lot of energy around him.

“At LAFC, they will see Son come in every morning, he is the most professional guy ever, he trains the hardest, he works the hardest, how can you not learn from him?”

Son’s influence is still felt at Spurs

Indeed, Heung-min Son remains the ultimate professional, someone who not only looks after his body but also sets an example with his attitude and discipline, traits that were always evident during his time in north London.

The 33-year-old left behind more than goals and memories; he inspired several of Tottenham’s young talents, with players like Archie Gray and Mathys Tel among those who learned from his approach.

How much Randal Kolo Muani and Joao Palhinha earn on loan at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Some Spurs fans will be surprised to know how much Tottenham’s two on-loan players, Randal Kolo Muani and Joao Palhinha, earn at the club.

Tottenham made seven new signings in the summer, and it has been a mixed bag for those players, with some hitting the ground running and others yet to make a mark.

The two players who were loaned, Palhinha and Kolo Muani, are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

The Portuguese star has settled in seamlessly, and there are already suggestions that Tottenham will accelerate their efforts to sign the midfielder permanently.

On the other hand, Kolo Muani has hardly kicked a ball in a Spurs shirt and is still waiting for his first Premier League appearance after picking up an injury.

Where Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani rank among Tottenham’s highest earners

Spurs fans may be surprised to hear that despite joining the club in a temporary move, the PSG and Bayern Munich loanees are among the highest earners on the North London club’s wage bill.

According to Capology, Kolo Muani is the fifth highest earner on Tottenham’s books, taking home £150,000 per week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The website reveals that Palhinha is not far behind, earning £135,000 per week, which makes him the seventh highest on the list.

Spurs’ highest earner is a summer signing

It has been widely reported that Cristian Romero is now Tottenham’s highest earner after signing a new deal back in August.

That is confirmed by Capology, who reveal that the Argentine is now on £195,000 per week, but the website says that one other Spurs player earns exactly as much.

Description

One Tottenham Hotspur star has made it into WhoScored’s highest-rated eleven of the Premier League season so far.

The start of the Thomas Frank era has largely been positive for Spurs, although there are a few areas where improvement is needed.

The biggest plus has been the team’s defensive structure, with Tottenham boasting of the joint-second-best defensive record across the division.

That is an astonishing improvement from last season, where Spurs conceded 65 goals across their 38 matches.

Frank has admitted that Tottenham need to improve offensively, but it is a Tottenham attacker rather than a defender who has made the Team of the Season.

New Tottenham signing makes WhoScored’s Team of the Season

From their metrics, WhoScored have compiled the highest rated eleven of the season and Tottenham’s summer signing, Mohammed Kudus, makes the side.

That should not really be surprising, given that Kudus leads the Premier League for several attacking metrics so far this season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The winger, who scored his first goal for the Lilywhites in the win at Elland Road on Saturday, has an average Whoscored rating of 7.58 across his seven Premier League appearances, which have yielded six goal contributions.

Everyone is now expecting big things from Kudus

The former West Ham man is getting plenty of praise, with Jermain Defoe even saying that Kudus is now the ‘main man’ in Tottenham’s attack.

Another Premier League legend, Wayne Rooney, has backed Kudus to explode over the coming weeks and months after netting his first goal for the Lilywhites.

Description

Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel both completed their permanent moves to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer after spending six months on loan, and we take a look at how their salaries compare to the rest of the Spurs squad.

Danso arrived on loan from Lens in January with an obligation to buy in the summer, which automatically became activated at the end of the season.

On the other hand, Tottenham had a £50 million option-to-buy clause for Tel, but the North London club managed to negotiate that down in the summer.

Spurs paid £29.6 million to Bayern Munich for Tel, with the Frenchman becoming the first signing of the Thomas Frank era.

Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel are not among Tottenham’s top earners

Some of Tottenham’s summer signings, such as Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus, are among the highest earners at the club.

However, that is certainly not the case with Tel and Danso, who rank a long way down in the list of the club’s top earners.

The France Under-21 international takes home just £55,000 a week, according to Capology, while the website says Danso only earns fractionally more at £65,000 a week.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham’s wage bill has gone up considerably

While Tottenham sold their highest earner, Heung-min Son, in the summer, their wage bill has still gone up over recent months.

That is not only due to the players who were added to the squad, but also due to the fact that Cristian Romero got a bumper pay rise, becoming Tottenham’s highest earner after signing his new deal.

One of Tottenham’s long-term targets is eyeing a move to the Premier League, and Spurs have now been notified of his availability.

Some players appear to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur almost every transfer window, but the transfer never materialises.

One such player is Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic, who was rumoured to be on Spurs’ radar in the summer as well.

Vlahovic was reportedly available for £25m in the summer, but he ended up staying in Turin, and has made a decent start to the season.

Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic has given clear instructions to his agent

Even though the Serbian is not getting regular football under his belt, he has made an impressive start to the campaign, having netted four times already for the Bianconeri.

TBR Football have now revealed that Dusan Vlahovic has told his representatives to find him a club in the Premier League, hence the Tottenham links.

The report explains that Juve were ready to hand Vlahovic a new long-term contract if he agreed to take a pay cut, but he refused.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet claims that Barcelona and Bayern Munich are weighing up offers for the centre-forward, while Man United and Newcastle are also fans of the player.

Spurs have spoken to Vuskovic’s representatives

As they often do, TBR Football also asked their resident transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, about the Juve man, and he made an interesting revelation.

The journalist remarked that intermediaries have reached out to Spurs and Chelsea to assess if they would be interested in securing the 25-year-old.

Bailey said about Vuskovic: “Once again, his people are touching base with potential landing spots – Chelsea and Tottenham have been spoken to by intermediaries. Much will depend on whether he wants a ‘pay day’ – he won’t get that in England.

“He would get major money obviously, but nothing compared to what he could earn in Saudi Arabia – he would only get more than his current salary at Juventus if he moved to the Middle East.

“But Vlahovic is just 25. Whilst doing well at Juventus, he hasn’t blown anyone away, and you get the feeling he has unfinished business at this point in his career.”

Tottenham fans will love what Croatian manager Zlatko Dalic has said about Luka Vuskovic after the centre-back’s impressive start to life at Hamburg.

The teenager has shown in his first month and a half at Hamburg just why he is such a special talent, carrying on from where he left off in his loan spell at Westerlo in Belgium last term.

Vuskovic is already breaking defensive records in his first few Bundesliga matches, and the Tottenham man’s new teammates are in awe of his talent.

Vuskovic was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for September, and one would not bet against him winning the same award on a few more occasions this season or perhaps even more prestigious ones.

Zlatko Dalic makes a confident claim about Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic

Vuskovic has been recalled to the Croatian squad after making his international debut for the country back in May.

The teenager now potentially has an opportunity to feature in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Gibraltar.

Zlatko Dalic has now said that the Tottenham Hotspur man will be a fixture in central defence for his country for over a decade.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Dalic said about the teenage defender (via Football.London): “A huge talent, he plays excellently in the Bundesliga, and that’s why he got a chance in the senior national team. I think he should be with us to feel the atmosphere and what awaits him. With him, Croatia secures its centre-back for the next 10-15 years.”

Spurs could soon make a big Vuskovic decision

According to a recent report, the centre-back’s displays at HSV have impressed scouts from across the game, including Tottenham’s own.

The report, which came from TBR Football, claimed that Spurs could take up the option to recall Vuskovic in January if he continues performing as well as he has started in Germany.

Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what Harry Kane is thinking about his future as Tottenham Hotspur continue to dream of welcoming the striker back to the club.

After months of speculation, we finally heard an update straight from the horse’s mouth this week as Harry Kane opened up on his future.

Kane said that he can see himself staying at Bayern Munich for longer, and revealed that the desire to return to the Premier League is not as strong as it once was for him.

Tottenham retain a first-refusal clause on Kane, and some outlets have recently suggested that Spurs will try to pull on Kane’s heartstrings to convince him to return to N17.

Harry Kane has a clear focus amidst Tottenham’s interest

Fabrizio Romano has now said on GiveMeSport that while it is no secret that Spurs would jump at the opportunity to re-sign the 32-year-old, that is a long way from becoming a reality.

He states that at the moment, there are no concrete negotiations underway on Kane’s return to Tottenham, and none are expected to happen over the coming months.

This is because the centre-forward’s focus at the moment is solely on helping Bayern win every title this season, including the Champions League.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist also adds that the Spurs legend wants no transfer distractions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

There is no shortage of interest in Kane

Romano adds in the report that some Saudi Pro League clubs are monitoring the striker, but Bayern are very calm about the situation.

Previously, it was reported by other sources that Man United, Chelsea and Barcelona also want to sign Kane next summer.

Tottenham suffer twist in race to sign Archie Gray’s younger brother Harry - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur look set to face defeat in their attempts to bring highly-rated teenager, Harry Gray, to North London.

Spurs have had success in their policy of securing highly-rated teenage talents, with Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray becoming important players for the North London club since arriving last year.

Over the last 12 months, plenty of reports have suggested that Tottenham had extensively scouted Harry Gray, the younger brother of Archie, who plays as a striker in the Leeds youth sides.

Various sources have claimed that Tottenham are facing competition from Arsenal and Newcastle for Harry Gray, whose only senior appearance to date came in Leeds’ 6-0 win over Stoke City in the Championship back in April.

Tottenham receive a huge Harry Gray transfer blow

TBR Football have confirmed that Spurs were keen on ensuring the 17-year-old striker follows his older brother from Elland Road to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They reveal that the teenager was also on the radars of Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, but those clubs will now have to wait.

The outlet says that the Leeds starlet is now eligible to sign his first professional contract, having turned 17 on Wednesday, and he is expected to do just that.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It is asserted that Harry has agreed on a deal at Elland Road, and his objective is to become a first-team regular at Leeds over the coming years.

What Leeds were thinking about Spurs’ interest in Gray

TBR Football also spoke to transfer expert Graeme Bailey about the striker’s decision to stay and Leeds’ plans for the youngster.

The journalist revealed that despite the interest Harry was generating, Leeds were never worried about losing him.

Bailey told the outlet: “Leeds have big plans for Harry Gray. They were never too worried he would be tempted away, but such is his talent, they knew he would attract interest; that is natural. But he is set to stay, and that is great news for everyone at the club.”
