Description

Luca Williams-Barnett’s breathtaking solo run has once again underlined what Tottenham supporters have been saying about the teenager all along.

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans are firmly convinced that they have a gem within their academy setup, and that player is Luca Williams-Barnett, who several supporters wanted to see in the club’s recent Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers.

At just 16 years of age, Williams-Barnett became Spurs’ 900th player, earning his legacy number after Thomas Frank handed him his first appearance as a Spurs player.

In the process, Williams-Barnett also etched his name into the club’s history books by becoming the youngest player ever to debut for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, while also ranking as the seventh youngest to pull on a Lilywhite shirt in a competitive fixture.

Luca Williams-Barnett’s solo run in Tottenham academy clash

Williams-Barnett is without question a talent that Tottenham must nurture carefully as he continues his development, and after his brief involvement with the senior team, he has now returned to the club’s academy side, where he continues to turn heads.

His ability was once again there for all to see as the teenager picked up the ball just inside his own half before embarking on a dazzling solo run, weaving through opponents and playing a neat one-two with a teammate, only to be denied what would have been one of the goals of the season at academy level.

Thomas Frank outlines his plan to improve Tottenham’s infamous injury problems - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has spoken about the measures being put in place at Tottenham to tackle the injury problems that have plagued the squad, with the new manager keen to ensure that last season’s fitness crisis does not repeat itself.

Since completing his move from Brentford to Tottenham Hotspur, Thomas Frank has yet to field a squad with all of his key players available.

Dominic Solanke, Kolo Muani, Dejan Kulusevski, Kota Takai, James Maddison and Radu Dragusin are among those currently sidelined, although this still pales in comparison to the injury crisis that Ange Postecoglou had to contend with last season.

However, despite these setbacks, the Spurs boss has still managed to keep Tottenham competing at a high level, though there have been moments where the lack of rhythm has been evident across performances.

Thomas Frank on Tottenham’s plan to fix injury issues

Speaking football.london, Frank has now revealed the changes being made behind the scenes to address the recurring fitness troubles at Tottenham, with a particular emphasis on improving how the medical, performance and coaching departments operate together.

Spurs would be looking to avoid the problems experienced last season under Ange Postecoglou, where more than 10 players were missing at various points, and some were reinjured almost immediately after returning.

Speaking on Tottenham’s injury situation, the Dane said: “That was one of the big areas we looked into when we came in. I see it as a holistic picture.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It is between the coaching, performance and medical departments. It cannot be three departments not communicating with each other, it has to be three constantly communicating back and forth. It is how we train, how well we train and how well we plan that.

“All that so far has been good. Touch wood we have not had any soft tissue or muscle injuries which are the big ones we would like to avoid.

“We have had an injury to Kolo Muani which is a dead leg contact injury, then we have Dom miskicking a ball. So we have two relatively unlucky ones. So can we nail and get on top of the muscle injuries? Probably impossible to not have any of those injuries but so far so good and we are very aware of it.”

Spurs focus on long-term fitness management

Frank also went on to explain that the work being done is not just about the immediate situation, but about establishing a long-term plan that will help Spurs maintain availability levels across the season.

He made it clear that training intensity, recovery schedules and overall workload balance remain central to the plan.

He added: “I think it is about workload in training, it is not too little, definitely enough intensity because we train and play with intensity, then I think it is all about the planning – gym, recovery, lots of things.

“1000 per cent [it is crucial to prevent another list of injuries]. If we have plus 90 per cent availability, it is so important.”

Description

Thomas Frank has moved to highlight the role of the Lewis family at Tottenham, stressing their commitment and visibility as the club navigates a period of change at the top level.

Tottenham Hotspur have been the subject of heavy speculation in recent months, with much of it fuelled by the widespread restructuring at the boardroom level and the inevitable uncertainty that comes with such shifts.

Despite the club issuing a clear statement that it is not up for sale, talk has continued to circulate about possible takeover interest, with reports suggesting that a staggering £4.5 billion offer had been tabled in recent days.

That approach is understood to have been dismissed outright, and once more, Tottenham felt compelled to make their stance public, reaffirming that the club is not available for purchase and remains under current ownership.

Thomas Frank on Tottenham owners Vivienne and Charles Lewis

When asked about the position of the Lewis family and their involvement with Tottenham, Thomas Frank explained that he has been impressed with the level of dedication they have shown since stepping into a more visible role.

Speaking to football.london, he said, “Very, very, very invested. 120% committed to the club. They really want to achieve something special.

“They want to build, want to add, and I like the phrase, building layers, because you never go straight to the top. You cannot jump five steps. That is impossible.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So building layers is very important. I think that is also more organic and more sustainable over time. But they are very, very focused on what they can do to help the club.”

Spurs ownership visibility under the Lewis family

Vivienne Lewis and Charles Lewis have now become the faces of the ownership, regularly appearing in the directors’ box, with their presence noted at recent fixtures against Villarreal and Doncaster Rovers.

Frank has also stressed the importance of the Lewis family becoming more present at matches and around the club, particularly after years where supporters felt a sense of disconnect with ENIC.

The head coach believes this shift has been key in shaping the perception of the current regime. “If you are an owner or a leader, it is important to be visible so people can see you,” Frank said in the same interview. “So I think it is positive.”

Peter Charrington makes exciting claim about new Tottenham era in letter to fans - Spurs Web
Description

Peter Charrington has broken his silence to clarify his role at Tottenham following Daniel Levy’s departure, outlining how he intends to guide the club into a new era.

Tottenham Hotspur have not suffered defeat since Daniel Levy stepped away from the helm, and they would hope that the run of form can continue to provide momentum at a time of transition.

Yet the broader focus for Spurs is no longer simply about results week by week, but about the bigger picture, as silverware has become the central ambition for a club that sees this period as the perfect opportunity to finally deliver trophies again.

Vinai Venkatesham has already taken up the position of Chief Executive Officer, leading the day-to-day football operations, while Peter Charrington has been appointed as Non-Executive Chairman, although he is not new to the Tottenham board.

Peter Charrington explains his role at Tottenham

The new Non-Executive Chairman has now moved to address Spurs fans directly, setting out what his responsibilities will entail, and he did so in an open letter published on the official Tottenham website.

In his message, Charrington made clear that while his role is not about day-to-day control, he sees himself as someone who will empower the leadership teams and provide strategic direction.

He wrote: “Dear Supporter, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you following my recent appointment as Non-Executive Chairman of this great Football Club.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Many of you may have questions as to what my role entails and what it means in terms of how we run the Club moving forward. Firstly, it is important to point out that I am not entirely new to Spurs. I joined as a Non-Executive Director back in March and I have therefore already gained an understanding as to what this Club is all about.

“Our Europa League victory in Bilbao demonstrated the impact of winning trophies and what it means to our fans both here and around the world. It is something the Board and I want you all to experience on many more occasions.

“I have had the pleasure of knowing the Lewis family for many years and can speak to how passionate Viv, Charlie and the family all are about seeing this Club truly reach its full potential. I see my role as Non-Executive Chairman to be about empowering our teams at leadership level and throughout the organisation to deliver on our stated objective of long-term sporting success.”

Spurs future under Charrington and Vinai Venkatesham

In further remarks, Charrington turned the spotlight on the staff who are driving Tottenham forward behind the scenes, pointing out that his aim is to ensure both coaches and players are provided with the tools to create a sustainable winning culture.

As he put it: “Over the last six months I have had the privilege of meeting the many talented people within our Club driving us forward every single day – both on and off the pitch.

“This includes our Head Coaches, Thomas and Martin, who have shared with me their drive to develop winning Men’s and Women’s teams. My focus is on providing them with all the necessary tools to create a winning culture, with the aim that this will translate to success on the pitch.

“In Vinai, we have a CEO who is a fantastic leader and figurehead for our Club, and I will support him in delivering on our vision, developing talent within the organisation and ensuring supporters are at the heart of our decision-making.

“In terms of you – our fans – I am extremely proud of the inclusivity of our Spurs family and how we as a Club engage with the various supporter groups that make up our rich, diverse, global fanbase.

“I am keen we listen to our fans and understand different perspectives from all sections of our support, and I look forward to meeting with our Fan Advisory Board for the first time in the coming months to learn more about what matters most to you.

“I have attended various games and experienced the special atmosphere our fans create in the stadium first-hand, working with independent groups such as THFC Flags, who designed the incredible Tifo display we saw at last Tuesday’s Champions League game with Villarreal. I look forward to sharing many more special occasions like these with you all in the years to come.”

What Vinai Venkatesham has been telling Tottenham owners about Fabio Paratici - Spurs Web
Description

A new report has shed light on Vinai Venkatesham’s stance on bringing Fabio Paratici back to Tottenham Hotspur.

It has emerged over recent days that Paratici remains keen on taking a full-time role as the head of recruitment at Tottenham, despite Daniel Levy’s exit.

It was explained that Paratici, who recently accepted a suspended criminal sentence due to his alleged involvement in Juventus’ capital gains scandal, had agreed with Levy that he would take up an official role.

He is now waiting for the new Tottenham leadership to reach out to him, with Vinai Venkatesham set to make the final decision on whether to appoint the Italian on a permanent basis.

What Vinai Venkateshan is thinking about Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham return

TBR Football have now claimed that Fabio Paratici has held talks with Venkatesham over returning to Spurs in a full-time role.

The report suggests that the Tottenham CEO has been impressed with the Italian director and is prepared to offer him a permanent role at the club.

It is explained, however, that Paratici remains undecided whether to take up an official role at Spurs without Levy calling the shots.

MORE SPURS STORIES

According to the update, the 53-year-old has been impressed by the new Tottenham CEO since he walked through the door in the summer.

How is Fabio Paratici’s relationship with Vinai Venkatesham?

TBR Football also spoke to journalist Graeme Bailey, who revealed that Paratici and Venkatesham get on well together.

He explained that the Spurs CEO recognises the Italian’s talents in the transfer market and is pushing the Lewis family to appoint him.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Paratici was very close to Daniel Levy and when he left, he was not thinking that he would still possibly return to Spurs but the club have reached out to him – they know the players he has brought in and Vinai Venkatesham recognises that fact, they know he is one of the best in football at what he does.

“But a big part is that Venkatesham and Paratici, during the Levy days, actually get on really well – they respect each other and Venkatesham feels they could work together very successfully.

Tottenham hope for fairytale Harry Kane return by ‘pulling on his heartstrings’

Tottenham hope for fairytale Harry Kane return by ‘pulling on his heartstrings’ - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham could attempt to pull off a sensational reunion with Harry Kane as one journalist thinks Spurs are pulling at his heartstrings.

Harry Kane has continued to shine since leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the England captain already lifting two trophies and proving as ruthless as ever in front of goal for Bayern Munich.

Kane has scored 100 goals since moving to Germany; however, despite his success, speculation around the 32-year-old’s future refuses to fade, as the links to a Premier League return continue to gather pace.

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the forward ahead of a potential move, while Tottenham are known to have a first-refusal clause in place for Kane, which becomes active in 2026, keeping the possibility of a reunion very much alive.

Harry Kane transfer clause could allow Tottenham return

Speaking to Football Insider, journalist Pete O’Rourke has explained the current situation surrounding Harry Kane and Tottenham, noting the significance of Thomas Frank’s public stance on a possible return.

The journalist said, “Well, obviously there is a big association between Harry Kane and Tottenham and, obviously, Thomas Frank has publicly admitted he would welcome Kane back at Tottenham if he were to leave Bayern Munich.

“As you said, there is this clause meaning he could leave next summer if he informs Bayern that he wants to leave before the close of the January transfer window, giving them time to bring in a replacement.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So he could potentially be allowed to leave next summer for £56.7million (€65m), which although he is not getting any younger, Kane still I think would be a bargain because he is basically a guarantee of goals.

“13 goals and three assists from seven appearances in all competitions for Bayern already this season as well. I am sure Spurs are still pulling the heartstrings of Harry Kane. He had such a great time there.

“The chance to maybe return to the Premier League and chase down Alan Shearer for that all-time Premier League goal-scoring record I am sure is something that might be in the back of his mind.”

Thomas Frank gives his take on Harry Kane return

As mentioned by O’Rourke, Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has not shied away from the topic either, openly addressing the possibility of Kane coming back to north London during a recent press conference.

The Danish coach admitted his admiration for the striker and his openness to the idea of reuniting, though he balanced it with a realistic assessment of Kane’s current situation at Bayern.

Speaking to the media, Frank said: “I think there is a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back. He is a top player. Personally, I do not think he will do it right now, if I am honest, he will probably stay in Bayern and continue performing well.

“He was top scorer last year and won the championship, he is doing fantastic now. I do not know what he is thinking. Myself, I am a traveller, I like to travel, I like to explore things as well.

“He has been here for many years so why not enjoy the time at Bayern a little bit more. But he is welcome. If he wants to join us, he is more than welcome.”

Tottenham have a wretched record at home in 2025, Thomas Frank reacts - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank admitted frustration as Tottenham once again failed to turn home advantage into three points, with Wolves holding Spurs to a draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was back-to-back draws for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League following their 1-1 stalemate with Wolves at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

Frank would have been hoping for a repeat of the performance in midweek when Spurs followed up their league draw against Brighton with a comfortable 3-0 win over Doncaster in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves arrived with nothing to show for their efforts this season, yet they still managed to come away with a point, and in doing so, they compounded Spurs’ growing frustrations about their inability to make home fixtures count.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank on home struggles after Wolves draw

It is a problem that has lingered around Tottenham in recent years, the inability to kill off games where they are expected to dominate. Spurs have won just three of their 12 Premier League home games in 2025, losing seven of those. Of course, only two of those non-wins have involved Frank himself, though.

When asked whether it was a mental issue or something deeper, the Tottenham boss gave his assessment. Speaking to football.london, Frank said: “I can only really speak about when I have been here, of course. I think the two games, you can see that Bournemouth also doing very well.

“I think they are a very difficult team to play. The one thing with Bournemouth is that was a bad performance. Overall, just bad. Today I think there was much more positive in our performance.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But unfortunately, on the day we could not get the three points. That happens. I think it is still a small sample for me to judge myself in that aspect.”

Spurs away form highlights contrast under Thomas Frank

Tottenham have won more games away from home this season than they have managed on their own patch, with no side picking up more points on the road than Frank’s men.

Joao Palhinha says Wolves draw ‘feels like a loss’ as Tottenham fail ‘mandatory’ task

Joao Palhinha says Wolves draw ‘feels like a loss’ as Tottenham fail ‘mandatory’ task - Spurs Web
Description

Joao Palhinha ensured Tottenham did not leave empty-handed against Wolverhampton Wanderers, yet the midfielder is far from satisfied with his team’s performance.

Tottenham Hotspur failed to take advantage of their fixture coming later in the day, after some of their closest rivals had already dropped points.

Liverpool had suffered defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, while Chelsea also fell short against Brighton in the earlier Premier League kick-offs.

With the opportunity clear, Spurs needed to claim maximum points against bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers to cut the gap on leaders Liverpool to just two points and also create further breathing space from the chasing pack in the race for a Champions League spot.

Joao Palhinha expresses frustration after Tottenham draw with Wolves

Tottenham started on the front foot and carved out chances early, but their inability to convert them allowed Wolves to settle into the contest and grow in belief, which eventually resulted in the visitors striking first.

When it looked as though Spurs were heading for a damaging defeat, Joao Palhinha struck from distance to rescue a point and prevent Thomas Frank’s side from slumping to what would have been a costly loss.

Speaking after the game, Palhinha admitted his frustration at the outcome, stressing that Tottenham needed to be far more ruthless in matches of this nature.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The Tottenham midfielder told Sky Sports: “I am not happy at all. These are the games we need to win. We did a great first half. The second half not really. We could have created more chances.

“It is one more game for us to improve and analyse. It is not going to be easy. I am really sad, me and my teammates and the staff, because it is mandatory for us to win these games. It feels like a loss.

“We fight until the last minute. Wolves defended well. We need to score our chances.”

Spurs’ recurring struggles in winnable matches

Spurs have often come unstuck in fixtures against sides they should be putting away if they are to secure a top-four finish.

Brighton, who are a strong side but not among the very top, held Tottenham to a draw after Frank’s men had gone two goals down, and Bournemouth also managed to take all three points in their 1-0 victory.

Although neither of those sides can be dismissed as easy opposition, Tottenham simply have to deliver wins in such encounters if they are serious about consolidating their place in the top four.

Thomas Frank gives fresh Dominic Solanke injury update as Tottenham struggle to score - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank has shed light on Dominic Solanke’s latest injury setback, with Tottenham desperate to have some more competition up front.

Tottenham Hotspur have had to place significant responsibility on Richarlison and Mathys Tel this season, with both Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani unavailable through injury.

Richarlison has delivered a respectable return of three goals in the Premier League, and considering he has often battled with injuries himself, his continued presence has been an unexpected boost for Frank’s side at a time when they have needed it most.

Frank would naturally have expected to rotate his forwards more frequently, yet the persistent setbacks suffered by Solanke and Muani have created a significant challenge, leaving him unable to vary his attacking options as much as he might have wished.

The Tottenham head coach has now spoken about Solanke’s current situation, confirming that the striker briefly returned to training at the start of the week, only for the issue to flare up again and force him back out of sessions with the squad.

Frank clarified that the root of the problem lies in Solanke’s ankle, although he made it clear that it is not ligament-related, which will have come as some relief given the long-term consequences that might have entailed.

Speaking to football.london, Frank explained how the injury has proven difficult to manage: “I think sometimes, let us say you have got a calf sprain or hamstring or even ACL, it is very simple, very easy to deal with. Sometimes it is just a little bit more tricky. So this is a little bit more tricky without being a problem. I expect Dom back as soon as possible.”

The timeline for Solanke’s return remains uncertain, as he appears to face setbacks each time he edges closer to full fitness.

Description

Joleon Lescott has named a Tottenham Hotspur defender as the most overrated player in the Premier League right now.

Tottenham Hotspur have started the new campaign strongly, picking up three wins from their opening five matches and looking much sharper than last season, when they endured a disappointing run that saw them finish 17th.

The improvement across the pitch has been clear to see, with individual performances stepping up under Thomas Frank’s guidance, and the squad appearing far more balanced and competitive than in the previous campaign.

Despite the general upturn in form, pundit Joleon Lescott has turned the spotlight on one key figure in the Tottenham side, a player he believes does not quite deserve the reputation he currently enjoys.

Joleon Lescott questions Cristian Romero’s reputation at Tottenham

Speaking on All Out Football, Lescott was asked to name the most overrated player in the Premier League. He initially responded with Moises Caicedo, though he quickly admitted that it was a wind-up aimed at the Chelsea-supporting host.

As the discussion continued, the former England international was pressed further on his choice, with the co-host putting forward both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

“The most overrated player in the Premier League is?” The host asked.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Caicedo, no I’m joking,” Lescott said.

“Van de Ven or Romero,” The co-host said.

“Yeah, I would say Romero,” Lescott said.”

Romero’s form for Spurs paints a different picture

Cristian Romero has been outstanding so far this season, wearing the captain’s armband and leading Tottenham to three wins while the side has only conceded four goals, recording three clean sheets along the way.

Interestingly, a fellow professional has offered a different view on Romero’s place in the Tottenham side, with James Maddison previously naming Romero as the most underrated player at Spurs.

Speaking on his teammate earlier this year, Maddison said: “Underrated? Cristian Romero. Top, top centre-back. For some reason in England, I feel like he has the perception of being a hot head who gets a lot of red cards and is not disciplined, but it is the opposite, he is a World Cup winner, and he is a top player.”
