Paul Merson risks angering Tottenham fans with his Brentford score prediction - Spurs Web
Description

Paul Merson has delivered his verdict ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Brentford, and it is not a prediction that will go down well with Spurs supporters.

Tottenham Hotspur have a little over three days of rest before they take to the pitch and build on their most recent league win over Crystal Palace when they face Brentford.

The Bees, however, are a side in hot form, having beaten Bournemouth 4-1 last time out thanks to a hat-trick from Kevin Schade.

Keith Andrews’ side is also currently ahead of Thomas Frank, who left Brentford to become boss at Spurs, but a win here will see the Dane move above Brentford as Tottenham look to close the gap on the top four.

Paul Merson predicts Tottenham vs Brentford

Looking ahead to Thursday night’s clash, Paul Merson has now given his score prediction for the clash between Spurs and Brentford.

The former Arsenal man outlined why he believes Brentford will have the edge, pointing to their home form and Tottenham’s recent struggles.

Explaining his thinking before delivering his score prediction, Merson highlighted the pressure Spurs face away from home and their inconsistency this season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson said: “You have to show Brentford respect when they are playing at home. They have 20 points in games played at their own stadium this season. They thrashed Bournemouth 4-1 last weekend.

“Tottenham are first in the table if you only consider away games though. Spurs are bottling games only at home. The spotlight on them in front of their own fans could be the reason.

“If Thomas Frank can help Tottenham beat Brentford on his return to his former club, Spurs are back in the race for the top five. After the trip to Brentford, they face Sunderland, Bournemouth, West Ham United and Burnley in the league. It is not the toughest of runs to put a run together.

“But we are talking about Spurs here. They are one of only two teams this season to give a point to Wolverhampton Wanderers and that just shows how unreliable they are as a unit. Tottenham are not playing great football and I think they will get caught out by Brentford in this one.”

Prediction: Brentford 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Why Spurs cannot afford another slip-up

A defeat is something Frank will be desperately hoping his side avoids when they face Brentford on Thursday night.

Spurs are one of the last sides to play in this round of fixtures and, as a result, they are well aware of the results involving their top-four rivals.

Chelsea were held to a draw against Bournemouth this gameweek, while Manchester United could not beat bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As such, a victory for Spurs over Brentford will not only move them into the top half of the table but also close the gap to the top five to two points.

Description

Christian Eriksen has made a bullish statement about Thomas Frank amid his struggles at Tottenham Hotspur.

Speculation continues to run rife about Spurs identifying potential replacements for Frank, who has failed to impress since taking over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

Frank believes he will be afforded time by the Tottenham hierarchy, suggesting that the team’s problems are not a quick fix.

Not everyone on the Spurs board is thought to be convinced by Frank, but a former Tottenham midfielder holds the 52-year-old in very high regard.

Christian Eriksen claims the Tottenham job is not too big for Thomas Frank

Erisken worked with Frank for six months during his short stint at Brentford during the 2021-22 season, and he rates the former Bees boss very highly.

The former Tottenham midfielder is not surprised by the pressure that is now on his compatriot, but he believes that Frank is more than capable of taking the Lilywhites where they want to go.

When asked about the under-fire Spurs boss, Erisken told The Times: “First of all, he definitely has the capabilities to manage a big club. To build Brentford up and to keep that going for a long time, progressing every season, shows his ability. I’ve seen all the Spurs stuff now, turning on him and seeing the results, which is normal; you are in the [big] six, you have to win every game.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“But I’m sure he’s going to change it into his own way and make it something very positive because you have everything you need at Spurs, it’s just about getting it to click. I’m sure Thomas is the right man for it.”

Eriksen admits Spurs need to play with more flair

The Danish coach’s style of football has been a huge cause of distress for Tottenham fans.

In fact, Spurs have posted some of the worst xG scores of any Premier League side this season, and Eriksen has now admitted that the Tottenham faithful are right in wanting to see their team show more attacking purpose and flair.

He added: “The fans want to be entertained in a football way as well, which puts extra pressure on. It’s about winning games, but also how you go into the games. Thomas will read it and see where it goes.

“Often it’s the more defensive teams that win more trophies, let’s say that, but at the same time, that’s not how you go forward at Spurs. You need a bit of flair.”

Tottenham Hotspur are right in the thick of the race for a midfielder who has turned his career around since his switch to Serie A 18 months ago.

A clear pattern is emerging with the midfielders who are being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January window.

Spurs are alleged to be exploring a move for Ruben Neves, while it has also been reported by some sources that the Lilywhites have held talks with Conor Gallagher over a January transfer.

Those are players with Premier League experience who can hit the ground running at N17, and it has now emerged that the North Londoners are eyeing another midfielder who has proven himself in the English top flight.

Tottenham eyeing move for Napoli star who has transformed under Antonio Conte

According to CaughtOffside, Thomas Frank wants to add goals and physicality to his midfield and the club have thus set their sights on Scott McTominay.

The former Man United man is a transformed player since his switch to Naples, playing the key role in their title win last season and being voted the Serie A Player of the Year.

His performances have not gone unnoticed in the Premier League, with Tottenham facing competition from Man United for McTominay.

The outlet claims that United regret letting the 29-year-old leave the club and are now ‘dreaming’ of bringing their academy graduate back to Old Trafford.

Napoli want big money for Spurs target McTominay

CaughtOffside say that the Scotland international is also being monitored closely by Arsenal and Newcastle ahead of the January window.

While Napoli would prefer to keep McTominay, they are under financial pressure to balance their books and would thus listen to offers.

The Serie A club have allegedly decided that they would be willing to let their star midfielder leave for around £60m.

Reports from Italy have revealed how long it is expected to take for Fabio Paratici to exit Tottenham Hotspur and start his work at Fiorentina.

Over the last few days, Spurs Web has relayed multiple reports suggesting that an announcement on Paratici’s Tottenham exit is expected soon.

The Spurs sporting director is reported to have reached a full agreement with Fiorentina to take over as their head of football.

However, Paratici was spotted in attendance at Selhurst Park on Sunday alongside Vinai Venkatesham, which suggests that he is still heavily involved at Tottenham.

How long will it take for Fabio Paratici to exit Tottenham?

A report in Firenze Viola has now claimed that the 53-year-old is ‘increasingly closer’ to joining the Serie A side.

It is explained that he was in Italy until last Friday before returning to London ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Crystal Palace.

It is asserted that Paratici will soon terminate his two-year contract with Spurs and head to La Viola, but the process is expected to take another week to be resolved.

Paratici does not want to burn his bridges at Spurs

Another report from La Nazione also claims that the Italian has decided to terminate his contract with the Premier League side.

However, the outlet says that the Spurs sporting director is not in a rush and wants his exit to be ‘soft, without rift or repercussions’.

While major developments on Paratici’s future are not expected immediately, there could be movement at the end of the week, with Fiorentina expecting the 53-year-old to get started for them in January.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, this means they could lose their ‘transfer expert’ on the verge of the January window opening.

Description

A long-term Tottenham midfield target is set to leave his club in January following talks with his manager, but Man United and Newcastle are also keen.

Reports over recent weeks suggest that Spurs want to add a central midfielder with Premier League experience to their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

It has been suggested that Tottenham are preparing an offer to bring Ruben Neves back to England after he decided to leave Al-Hilal.

However, he is not the only central midfielder the Lilywhites are looking at, with Spurs reported to have also spoken to Conor Gallagher regarding a January move.

Conor Gallagher makes transfer decision amidst Tottenham interest

According to TEAMtalk, Gallagher is now prepared to ‘accelerate’ his move away from Atletico Madrid over the coming days.

The England international is thought to have spoken to Diego Simeone about his lack of game time this season, with the La Liga club ready to sell him.

It is revealed that while Simeone would prefer to keep Gallagher, he accepts that the 25-year-old needs regular game time in order to get into the England squad for the World Cup.

MORE SPURS STORIES

A source close to the situation explained to the outlet: “Atletico acknowledge they can’t give Conor the football he wants and deserves. That is the key issue, and they know he is too good to sit on the bench and they don’t want to wreck his chances of going to the World Cup.”

Spurs facing competition from three clubs for Gallagher

TEAMtalk name Tottenham Hotspur as one of the clubs keeping an eye on the midfielder’s situation, but they are expected to face intense competition for the player’s services.

Manchester United are also big fans of Gallagher, while Newcastle United and Inter Milan are also keen on signing him.

The publication adds that while Atletico could prefer to sell the former Chelsea man permanently, intermediaries believe a potential loan with an option to buy could be the more realistic outcome next month.

Tottenham Hotspur have now learned whether Manchester City will entertain the sale of Savinho in January.

Reports indicate that Spurs have agreed a fee with Crystal Palace for the sale of Brennan Johnson, and the Man City man is one of the players the Lilywhites have identified as a potential replacement for the Wales international.

Spurs are expected to reignite their interest in Savinho after failing to get a deal for the Brazilian over the line during the summer transfer window.

It was previously reported that Man City could let Savinho leave if they land Semenyo from Bournemouth, but the Lilywhites’ hopes have now been dashed.

Man City make a decision on Tottenham target Savinho

Some journalists have suggested over recent days that Spurs may struggle to agree a fee with Man City for Savinho.

Now, a new report in Sky Sports’ Match Centre has dashed the Lilywhites’ hopes of securing the 21-year-old.

The outlet says that Pep Guardiola’s men have no intention of selling the winger in the upcoming transfer window. The Brazil international, who recently penned a new contract at the Etihad Stadium, is expected to remain at City until the end of the season.

Alasdair Gold has revealed what Fabio Paratici is now having to consider as Tottenham face the prospect of losing their sporting director ahead of the transfer window.

The Italian media has been rife with speculation that Paratici has agreed a deal to become Fiorentina’s head of football.

Some outlets are convinced that an official announcement regarding the Tottenham sporting director is around the corner.

However, Spurs fans will take hope from the fact that Paratici was spotted in attendance at Selhurst Park on Sunday, with the 52-year-old seen sitting next to club CEO Vinai Venkatesham.

Tottenham have not been officially approached over Fabio Paratici

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has received that despite the ongoing rumours about the Italian’s future, Spurs have not received any approach from Fiorentina.

However, Gold does confirm that Paratici made a trip to Italy last week and returned from his native country to watch Spurs in action in South London.

The journalist reveals that the Fiorentina head of football post comes with ‘a huge amount of power’ for the Tottenham official. However, it would require him to join in January so that he can get things in motion during the transfer window.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Paratici expected to be a major loss for Spurs

Gold suggests that the former Juventus director’s exit would come as a big blow to Tottenham since he was expected to pull the strings at the North London club during the January window.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham winger has agreed transfer to Italy - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have moved quickly to resolve a lack of minutes for one of their midfielders, agreeing a new temporary switch after a frustrating first half of the season.

Manor Solomon’s loan move to Villarreal has not exactly gone to plan for the Israeli winger, who had to wait until deadline day last summer for his move away from north London.

So far in Spain, the 26-year-old has managed just 146 minutes in La Liga and 358 minutes in all competitions, which is far from ideal for a forward looking for game time.

We reported previously that Villarreal were open to letting a few players leave in the winter window and that Solomon himself was open to cutting his loan short.

Manor Solomon is to join Fiorentina on loan

According to Fabrizio Romano, Solomon has now secured a new loan deal away from the Yellow Submarine, with his current spell in Spain set to be cut short.

The winger, who made a promising start to life in La Liga by registering a goal and an assist in his first two league appearances, is now heading to Italy in search of more regular game time.

Providing an update on the situation, Romano confirmed that Fiorentina have reached an agreement to sign the Tottenham forward, writing on social media: “Fiorentina reach verbal agreement to sign Manor Solomon, here we go! The winger is set to leave Villarreal, with the loan move to be interrupted and a new transfer to Fiorentina from Tottenham.”

MORE SPURS STORIES

Fiorentina and Spurs agree on option to buy Solomon

It is believed that the deal is not a permanent transfer, but the Serie A side could opt to sign Solomon permanently in the future after including that option in their agreement with Spurs.

The Israeli international might not be the only individual linked with Tottenham who could be heading to Fiorentina, with sporting director Fabio Paratici also having been linked with the Italian club, while Dragusin has also been mentioned with a move to Fiorentina.

The Solomon deal, however, appears to be a positive move for all parties, as the wide forward can secure more game time, while Spurs could eventually cash in should Fiorentina decide to make the deal permanent.

Juventus are interested in re-signing a £27m Tottenham Hotspur player in January - Spurs Web
Description

Juventus are interested in signing a Tottenham Hotspur player in 2026, and it wouldn’t be the first time he was on the Italian club’s books.

One Spurs centre-back’s future has been the subject of huge speculation over the last week.

Radu Dragusin only returned to the pitch for the first time against Crystal Palace after recovering from his ACL injury, and he is now being heavily linked with a move away.

AS Roma are plotting a move to take Dragusin back to Italy, while it has also emerged over recent days that Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli have made enquiries about the Spurs defender.

Juventus enter the race for Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin

A new report in La Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by GFNI) has now claimed that the Bianconeri are ready to enter the race for the 23-year-old.

The outlet states that Luciano Spalletti wants to add reinforcements at the back, and Juventus have identified Dragusin as a top target.

The Romanian spent three years at the Turin giants as a youngster before making a move to Genoa in 2023, and he could now be set for a return to his former stomping ground.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report reveals that Juve are particularly attracted to the Tottenham man as he knows the club’s environment well and is already a proven performer in Serie A.

One factor could boost Juve’s chances of landing Dragusin

Gazzetta claim that the potential catalyst for the deal could be the return of Marco Ottolini, who is set to join Juve as their sporting director.

Ottolini has a great connection with Dragusin, being the primary architect of the centre-back’s move to Genoa and later orchestrating his sale to Tottenham Hotspur.

It is suggested that the Spurs defender fits the mould that Ottolini is looking for, and the 45-year-old could prove key in unlocking a deal for the centre-back.

The outlet adds that Tottenham may be open to loaning out Dragusin in January if the right conditions are met.

Luka Vuskovic picks up another Bundesliga award as Tottenham starlet continues to thrive - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic has been highly impressive for Hamburger SV this season, and he has just landed a Bundesliga award as a result of his brilliance.

Tottenham Hotspur supporters were able to take a brief look at Luka Vuskovic during pre-season, but it was not long before he departed for Germany on a season-long loan.

Since then, the defender has reached another level, and Spurs already want to tie Vuskovic down to a new contract, even though he has yet to play for them in a competitive game.

Despite this, Tottenham do not have any plans to bring Vuskovic back to the club next month, as they are happy with how he is developing in the Bundesliga.

Luka Vuskovic wins Bundesliga goal of the month award

Vuskovic won the rookie of the month award for September, and he has picked up another Bundesliga honour after a stunning moment earlier this month.

The goal of the month award for December has gone to Vuskovic after he scored with a scorpion kick against Werder Bremen to give his team the lead.

Hamburg conceded three minutes later, but went on to win the match 3-2 and despite Yussuf Poulsen getting the winner, it is Vuskovic’s goal which has been remembered.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Vuskovic could be a key player for Tottenham in the future

It appears Vuskovic has a lot to offer at both ends of the pitch, and Thomas Frank will surely want him in his team next season.

There may be rumours going around about the 18-year-old, but he has a contract at Spurs which lasts until 2030.

Vuskovic is a Tottenham player and if he keeps up his superb form, he could well find a way into the Spurs first-team when he returns to North London next summer.
