Description

Pedro Porro has reflected on how he balances attacking with defending, and has also spoken about how he feels at Tottenham Hotspur.

One can argue that the Spanish right-back has been Tottenham’s most consistent player across the last three seasons.

Not only is he never injured, but Porro boasts of more assists than any other defender across the Premier League since the start of the 2023-24 season.

The 26-year-old is now taking his impressive form to the international stage, with Porro making the right-back spot in the Spain side his own.

Tottenham star Pedro Porro reveals how he finds balance between defence and attack

Porro has been the toast of the Spanish media over the international break, with the Tottenham man being hailed for his defending as well as his output going forward.

The former Sporting Lisbon man has explained what he prioritises in either part of his game, admitting that he looks for consistency in defence while expressing himself going forward.

When asked about how he balances his attacking and defensive duties, Porro told Infobae: “I have more of a winger’s soul. Nowadays, you have to be important in both roles.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“I like reading comments, and several years ago I was very involved defensively, trying to be a little more involved and see what I can do because then in attack, I have that self-confidence that’s also required of a full-back when they reach the deep areas.

“In defence, you have to be consistent, and in attack, you also have that support for your teammates when they need it.”

Porro admits Spurs comfort but rues one result this season

The Tottenham full-back was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the recent past, but he has now made it clear that he feels at home in N17.

The 26-year-old admitted that he still rues the fact that Spurs were not able to add to their trophy haul at the start of the season after throwing away the Super Cup clash against PSG.

The right-back added: “The truth is, I’m very happy and very settled at Tottenham. The start of the season has been very good. It’s a shame we lost the Super Cup final on penalties against PSG.

“After going 2-0 up, you have to win that title, but for me, they’re one of the best clubs in the world. If you’re not focused for the full 90 minutes, that’s what happens.”

Tottenham fans left split over Harry Kane’s latest comments about a Spurs return - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans are divided following Harry Kane’s latest comments about a potential return to North London.

Talk of Harry Kane returning to Tottenham Hotspur has refused to die down, with the Englishman often sharing his thoughts and emotions when asked about his boyhood club.

In his most recent interview, Kane again touched on the subject, refusing to rule out the possibility of a return.

He made it clear that Tottenham will always remain a part of him, as he spent the majority of his life in north London and still sees the club as “we”.

Speaking about his future, Kane said: “I’m not sure (if I’ll go back). I’m very happy here in Munich. It’s not something I’m thinking about. It’ll always be ‘we’ (with Spurs) because I spent my whole life there. I’m a fan of them and will always watch them and see how they’re getting on. They will always be a part of my life for sure but as for now, I’m loving it here.

“It was great to see (them win a trophy this year). I’ve got a lot of friends there with the players and staff. We know how long we waited and how close we’d come in the past so it was big for everyone – the fans, the club and all involved to have that feeling and get that one over the line. That’s always important and hopefully they can push on and win more.”

Tottenham supporters have now reacted to Kane’s recent remarks, and as expected, opinions have been mixed across the fanbase.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Some believe that his comments are a clear hint that he will eventually return to N17, while others feel the club must move on from the idea, with many uncertain whether a reunion would ever materialise.

One fan said: “We see you starting to soft launch the return dropping ‘we’.” Another added: “I know he’s going to come back, I just can’t prove it yet.”

One more commented: “I’d love him back at Spurs but the truth is he is actually above our level right now.”

Another opined: “I think the only way he’d consider coming back is if he genuinely believed we had a squad capable of winning the league. No chance he comes back to be just fighting to qualify for Europe again – we’d have to be fighting to win the Champions League and the league.”

Others were less optimistic, with one fan saying: “He deserves to finish his career competing for UCLs ngl. Will always be grateful for the years he gave us.”

Another remarked: “Gotta start focusing on getting and slowly moulding a new Kane and Son. As much as I’m happy to take him back, he’s just too good, too good to be competing for UCLs and not coming close from behinds.”

However, some supporters were confident that a return is inevitable, with one saying: “He can’t exactly say yes I will be back. Didn’t rule it out. Welcome back Harry.” Another added: “He will be back.” One more confidently stated: “He is 100% coming back.”

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Harry Kane and Spurs

For Tottenham, a striker of Kane’s calibre would undoubtedly elevate their attacking level and push them closer to competing with the very best sides in Europe.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently weighed in on the possibility of a Kane return to Tottenham, clarifying the current situation.

Romano revealed that although Spurs would be open to seizing an opportunity to bring Kane back, there have been no talks or negotiations on that front.

Tottenham receive injury update on Lucas Bergvall after worrying substitution - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall has revealed whether he suffered an injury after being withdrawn at half-time during Sweden’s loss to Kosovo on Monday.

Ahead of the international break, the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had not featured for his country since November of last year.

Calls were growing louder in Sweden for Lucas Bergvall to be handed game time, and manager Jon Dahl Tomasson finally obliged, giving the 19-year-old back-to-back starts against Switzerland and Sweden.

Bergvall had an outing to forget against the Swiss as he missed an open goal in the first half as Sweden lost 2-0 at home.

Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall reveals if he picked up an injury

The midfielder did not fare too much better against Kosovo, this time lasting just 45 minutes as Newcastle United winger Anthony Elanga replaced him after the break.

The Scandinavian side fell to a 1-0 loss, and the media back in his home country were surprised to see the Spurs youngster taken off at the interval. Some Tottenham fans were worried that it could indicate an injury problem.

Thankfully, from a Tottenham perspective, the teenager confirmed that he did not have any fitness-related issues.

MORE SPURS STORIES

When asked if his substitution was due to an injury concern, Bergvall told Sportbladet: “No, I was completely healthy. Yes, of course [disappointed to come off]. I feel fit, but you have to respect it. No [didn’t receive an explanation], but it’s difficult to take it at half-time.”

Bergvall is delighted with Spurs role under Thomas Frank

It is fair to say that Jon Dahl Tomasson has not yet found the perfect role for the youngster in his Sweden set-up.

The teenager’s role at Tottenham has changed this season, with Bergvall admitting that he is now playing more as a number ten than a number eight under the Danish coach.

Fabio Paratici has opened up on what his interactions with Tottenham fans made him feel over the last two years, and the role those played in his decision to return to the club.

Two and a half years after being forced to resign from his role as managing director of Tottenham, Paratici is now officially back as Spurs sporting director.

The Italian will be sharing the responsibility with Johan Lange, who has been promoted from his previous role as technical director.

Reflecting on his return, Paratici has said that he loves Tottenham, and he has now expanded on why his affection for the club has grown over the last two years.

Fabio Paratici reveals Tottenham fans showered him with love

The 53-year-old has been going through a tough time over the past two years, owing to his alleged involvement in the Juventus capital gains scandal.

He has been working as a consultant for Spurs during his time out of the game, and he admitted that during that time, he had some touching interactions with the Tottenham faithful.

When asked how it feels to be back at Tottenham, Paratici told the club’s official channel: “It’s a great feeling. First of all, I would like to be thankful to the Lewis family, to Vinai, to Johan, and all of the employees who supported me during this period and made me feel a part of this family, even though I was not full-time at this club.

“I also want to thank the fans. They made me feel really important to them. They supported me everywhere when I met them. They showed me their love, and it means a lot to me. For this reason, this club is really special to me. And then coming back to this role and working together with Johan as a sporting director is a great feeling for me.”

Paratici admits he met Spurs fans all across the world

The Italian is very much a globe-trotter, having developed a wide network during his two decades of experience in the game.

When asked if he ran into Spurs supporters often, Paratici responded: “Yes, of course, because Spurs fans are everywhere. Sometimes you can meet them in Rome, Milan or New York.

“They showed me really the love that they have, and not just in the stadium, but everywhere I meet them, they came to me saying thanks and supporting me. It means a lot to me. Joining the club again and working closely with Johan and Vinai will be great. It is a great feeling.”

Ange Postecoglou may not end up facing Tottenham after all amid big development - Spurs Web
Description

Ange Postecoglou may not end up going up against his old side, Tottenham Hotspur, given the latest developments at Nottingham Forest.

Just months after being sacked by Spurs, Postecoglou completed his return to the Premier League at the start of September, replacing another former Tottenham boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, as the Forest head coach.

As soon as the Australian took over at the City Ground, Tottenham fans had earmarked the date 13 December on their calendar, which is when the Lilywhites travel to the Midlands to take on Forest.

However, it turns out that the former Spurs boss is not likely to be in charge by the time that the Lilywhites take on Forest.

Ange Postecoglou may not last long enough to face Tottenham

The Australian is winless in his first seven games across all competitions in his new job, and things do not get easier for him as Forest host Chelsea this Saturday.

It has now been revealed by talkSPORT that Postecoglou will be in charge of the clash against the Blues, but his future beyond that is uncertain.

A poor result on Sunday could see owner Evangelos Marinakis wield the axe on the 60-year-old, which means that there are serious doubts over whether Postecoglou will face Spurs, with the fixture still being nearly two months away.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report adds that former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche is being considered as one of the options to replace the former Tottenham Hotspur boss at the City Ground.

Former Spurs official’s appointment is bad news for Postecoglou

A few days ago, it emerged that former Tottenham chief football officer Scott Munn has been appointed as the head of football at Italian side Parma, just four months after being let go by Spurs.

Interestingly, this latest update by talkSPORT reveals that Munn, who was a close ally of Postecoglou at Spurs, was being considered for a boardroom role at the City Ground.

However, Forest chiefs are now looking at other options for their chief football officer role, and their decision to pass up on Munn is seen as an indication that the club’s hierarchy are not completely on board with their new manager.

Tottenham player reacts after suffering major injury setback on international duty - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham are not without injury problems in midfield, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski both long-term absentees, and now there is another name to add to the list.

Yves Bissouma picked up an injury in his first competitive match of the season on Sunday, lasting just six minutes after coming on in the second half for Mali in their win over Madagascar.

It has emerged that Bissouma was in agonising pain, holding his left ankle, and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

It is the same ankle that the midfielder had surgery on in 2023, and his latest update suggests that the 28-year-old may be on the treatment table for a while.

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is determined despite a major setback

The Spurs man took to social media to post a picture of himself wearing a cast and a protective boot on his left leg, and he was using crutches to walk.

While Tottenham are yet to officially confirm the severity of the injury, it is clear from the images that Bissouma faces a sustained spell on the sidelines.

However, the former Brighton man made it clear that he is not going to allow this setback to bring him down and vowed to work hard to get back stronger.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bissouma wrote on Instagram: “Zero regrets. I once again thoroughly enjoyed representing my country, and if I had to do it all over again, I would do it for the love of my country.

“I fell, but I will know how to get back up. Every challenge is a lesson, every fall a reminder of my faith and my strength. This is not the end, just the beginning of a new chapter, stronger, more determined. See you soon.”

Spurs fans feel Bissouma had poor judgment

The midfielder made it clear in his post that he does not regret playing for Mali, but the Tottenham supporters are questioning his decision.

Many Spurs fans feel it was poor judgment on Bissouma’s part to play in a dead-rubber game, and some are wondering how the club allowed the 28-year-old to be involved.

How Thomas Frank reacted to major new Tottenham restructuring amid Fabio Paratici twist - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham has shed light on how the news of the club appointing two sporting directors has gone down with head coach Thomas Frank.

Spurs, who are in the process of changing their leadership structure since Daniel Levy’s exit, arguably took their biggest decision yet this morning.

Tottenham confirmed that Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange will be working together as sporting directors, with the announcement catching many people off guard.

It is certainly a very unusual structure, and the man who might be impacted most is the head coach. We have now heard what Frank thinks of the appointments.

Thomas Frank is a fan of having two sporting directors at Tottenham

The Danish coach is no stranger to working with Lange and Paratici, having done so since arriving at the club in the summer.

Interestingly, Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham has now revealed that Frank has worked in a similar structure at Brentford before and is fully in support of splitting the responsibilities of sporting director between two people.

When asked what the Tottenham boss thinks about the appointments, Venkatesham told the club’s official channel: “I have talked about this with Thomas a lot and he is completely relaxed about it and very happy with where we are going.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He has actually explained to me that this structure of working with two people is something that he is actually very familiar with. He tells me he had a very similar structure at Brentford.

“He has a very good relationship with both Johan and Fabio. I just had breakfast with him just now, and he is really looking forward to getting going. He has his press conference on Friday, so you will hear from him about it directly then.”

Venkatesham expects Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange to complement each other

The Tottenham CEO also explained that Paratici and Lange have divergent skill sets, and he expects the pair to complement each other very well.

Venkatesham revealed that he got to know Paratici over the last few months and referenced the Italian’s network as something that will benefit Tottenham hugely.

The Spurs chief said about the two new sporting directors: “I have got very good relationships with them. I knew Johan a little bit before I joined from his time at Aston Villa. Not well, but I did know him a little bit, and obviously, we have worked really closely together for the last four months.

“Very smart guy, very forward thinking, very analytical, and has made real significant progress across a number of different departments at the club since he joined us a couple of years ago.

“Fabio, I didn’t know before I joined, but he has been a consultant to the club, and I have also got to know him very well over the last four months. He is hugely experienced and has a fantastic network.

“With Johan and Fabio, we are bringing together two individuals who are very talented but also, to some extent, have slightly different experiences and expertise. I think they will form a very good team.”

Who will be Tottenham’s transfer guru out of Paratici and Lange? Full roles explained - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham CEO Vinai Venkatesham has revealed the two different areas that Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange will be focusing on after being appointed as the club’s sporting directors.

Despite the sacking of Daniel Levy, it was an open secret that Fabio Paratici was set to return to Tottenham in an official role.

However, the announcement this morning came as a surprise to many, with Tottenham confirming that Paratici and Lagne will work together as sporting directors.

The man who made the appointments has now explained what the Italian and the Dane will be primarily focused on in their new roles.

Vinai Venkatesham explains areas of focus for the two Tottenham sporting directors

In his interview with Tottenham’s official channel, Venkatesham has revealed that it will very much be a joint effort by Paratici and Lange, but at the same time, they will also have clearly defined areas of focus.

Lange will be primarily tasked with taking charge of the academy, scouting, performance analysis, and data-driven football insights.

Paratici, on the other hand, will focus on transfer windows, player recruitment, and loan and player development pathways.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, Venkatesham made it clear that all decisions will be made jointly, and the two will be working particularly closely together on squad planning and player recommendations.

Venkatesham expects disagreements between Fabio Paratici and Johan Lange

The Tottenham CEO made it clear that he does not expect the two sporting directors to agree on everything.

In fact, he insisted that the divergent points of view of Paratici and Lange will help ensure that the club get more of their big decisions right.

When asked what happens if Lange and Paratici disagree on key decisions, Venkatesham said: “I’m certainly not expecting them to agree on everything. I’m not worried about that. In fact, I welcome that.

“We are going to have a lot of big, important decisions ahead to drive the football club forward, and I am a firm believer in having more voices, having more opinions to make the right decisions.

“I think having both Johan and Fabio in the role means that we will make better decisions. It will mean that we will make fewer mistakes and more decisions that will work for the football club.”

The seven matches Tottenham’s AFCON players could miss in December and January

The seven matches Tottenham’s AFCON players could miss in December and January - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are in a good position right now, but the African Cup of Nations will see some players become unavailable.

AFCON begins in little more than two months and Tottenham Hotspur would have been without an additional player compared with the tournament’s previous edition.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma will once again play at the competition, and Spurs now have another African player in Mohammed Kudus. However, Kudus will not play AFCON because Ghana finished rock bottom of their qualifying group.

This means Tottenham will only be without two players, and since Bissouma is yet to play this season anyway, the club are actually in a favourable position.

How many Spurs matches will the AFCON players miss?

The African Cup of Nations begins on December 21 and concludes on January 18. Tottenham have five scheduled fixtures during this period, but Sarr and Bissouma could miss up to four more.

The fixtures the midfielders will definitely miss are:

Sarr and Bissouma could also miss Tottenham’s trip to the City Ground to take on Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest, should they leave early for AFCON. The fixture is currently set to take place on December 13.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Four further fixtures could be missed depending on how far Senegal and Mali progress in the tournament.

If teams reach the last 16

If teams reach the quarter-finals

If teams reach the final

Sarr and Bissouma could also miss Tottenham’s FA Cup third round tie scheduled for the weekend of January 10 and the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg if Spurs make it that far.

Tottenham should not be concerned about AFCON impact

Spurs may have only been without the same players during the previous AFCON tournament, but the Asian Cup occurred at the same time. This meant the club were missing key players such as Heung-min Son on top of their African contingent.

The Asian Cup only takes place every four years, which means Tottenham will only lose Sarr and Bissouma this time around.

Sarr has made a bright start to the season, and his loss will be noticeable. However, Spurs do have a host of options, including Xavi Simons and Lucas Bergvall, who can keep Thomas Frank’s midfield strong.

Bissouma does not appear to have a future at Tottenham anyway, so the lack of his presence will not be felt. All things considered, Spurs should not be too affected by AFCON.
