Arsenal attempt to hijack yet another Tottenham bid after Eberechi Eze poach - Spurs Web
Description

After spectacularly stealing Eberechi Eze from under Tottenham’s noses, Arsenal are now trying to poach another one of their North London rivals’ top targets, just hours after the Lilywhites had launched an offer for the player.

Until the start of last week, it seemed as if Eze was bound for Tottenham, but the Gunners entered the race for Eze in the final moment and hijacked the deal, which left Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy embarrassed.

It turns out that Arsenal are now set to repeat the trick by stealing another player from Tottenham’s grasp.

It was reported this morning that Spurs made a loan offer for Piero Hincapie, with an obligation to buy for £52m after the centre-back expressed a desire to leave Bayer Leverkusen, but Mikel Arta’s men have now allegedly entered the race for the 23-year-old.

Piero Hincapie is prioritising Arsenal move over Tottenham

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has now revealed that Arsenal are working on a deal to sign Hincapie, who has allegedly been on the club’s radar for a long time.

The journalist says that the Ecuador international’s top preference is to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

He adds that Leverkusen are unwilling to let the 23-year-old go unless his €60m (£52m) release clause is activated, but the Gunners are making an attempt to lower the price to what they see as a more realistic market value.

Spurs may still have Hincapie hope

However, Ornstein makes it clear that Arsenal’s move for Hincapie will be very much dependent on player sales, with Mikel Arteta’s men needing to get some players out of the door to fund a move for the Leverkusen star.

The club are hoping to cash in on Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson so that they can push ahead with a move for Hincapie.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have launched a new offer to land Piero Hincapie after the centre-back decided that he wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

Until last week, it was reported that Spurs would find it difficult to land Hincapie as Bayer Leverkusen were not willing to let the centre-back leave.

However, the situation has changed drastically over the last 24 hours, with reports emerging on Sunday evening that Hincapie has decided to leave the Bay Arena if his €60m (£52m) release clause is met.

It looks like Tottenham Hotspur are wasting no time in pushing ahead with a move for the Ecuadorian after hearing that he is open to an exit.

Tottenham make an interesting offer for Piero Hincapie

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs have approached Leverkusen with a new offer for the centre-back.

He reveals that Spurs have made an initial loan proposal for the 23-year-old with the obligation to buy for £52m next summer, which matches his release clause but delays the payment by 12 months.

The journalist does not say how this offer is expected to go down at the Bundesliga side, but he adds that Tottenham have already begun discussing personal terms with the defender.

Why Hincapie will be a huge coup for Spurs

Tottenham are not short of centre-backs in their squad, but their first-choice centre-backs are both injury-prone, and Thomas Frank is no stranger to starting with three at the back.

That explains why Frank is reportedly keen on bringing another top-class centre-back through the door before the transfer deadline.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Piero Hincapie has just made a huge decision on his future at Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the final week of the transfer window.

According to reports, Tottenham want to add a number ten, a winger and a centre-back to their squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Various sources have reported over the past couple of weeks that Spurs have settled on Hincapie as their top centre-back target.

However, it seemed like a very difficult deal to complete, with Leverkusen having no intention of selling Hincapie, but there has been a huge twist in the transfer saga in the lead-up to the final days of the transfer window.

Piero Hincapie wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen

It has now been revealed by Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg that the Ecuadorian international has decided to leave Leverkusen before the end of the transfer window.

The journalist confirms that the release clause in Piero Hincapie’s contract at the Bay Arena stands at €60m (£52m).

While Leverkusen want to keep the centre-back, the 23-year-old has allegedly informed his club that he will be departing if a suitable offer arrives.

This explains why some clubs leave their business until late

As Spurs fans, we all want to see deals done quickly, and it would be great if all of our top targets could be signed early in the transfer window.

However, simply as going out and signing whoever is available at the start of the summer may not be a prudent strategy.

Thomas Frank has been clear that he only wants players who would improve the Tottenham squad, and his top targets may not have been available early in the transfer window.

If Tottenham manage to get deals for Savinho and Hincapie over the line (who appear to have been their top targets for those two roles), the club’s decision to leave things late would have been justified.

However, the risk you run with this strategy is that you may run out of time before getting the signings through the door, which will be disastrous for Frank.

Tottenham intend new contract talks with player Thomas Frank is ‘counting on’ - Spurs Web
Description

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Thomas Frank has taken a real liking to a senior Tottenham star and is counting on him to be part of his project in N17.

We have already seen two Tottenham Hotspur players being handed new contracts at the start of the Thomas Frank era.

Djed Spence has signed a new four-year contract, less than a year on from his last new deal, while new club captain Cristian Romero has also put pen to paper on an extension.

According to various reports, Rodrigo Bentancur is next in line to be handed a new deal at Spurs, with the Uruguayan now into the final year of his contract.

What Thomas Frank thinks of Rodrigo Bentancur at Tottenham

The Danish coach has started Bentancur alongside new signing Joao Palhinha against both PSG and Man City, while the former Juventus man came on as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Burnley.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Frank sees the 28-year-old as a central part of his project and predicted that the club will soon begin talks with the midfielder on a new long-term deal.

O’Rourke told Football Insider: “There will be plans in place for contract talks with Bentancur. Tottenham and Thomas Frank view the Uruguayan as a key part of their plans going forward – they’ve no intention to let the midfielder leave anytime soon.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“He’s entered the last 12 months of his contract at Spurs, obviously raising a bit of speculation about his long-term future.

“He’s somebody Tottenham are counting on going forward, and there will be talks held at some point in the near future to try and thrash out his future. They’ve obviously tied down Cristian Romero and Djed Spence to new contracts, so Bentancur could be the next one in line.”

Bentancur transfer rumours rubbished

Benatancur has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, which is understandable, given his contract situation.

However, some sources have rubbished claims that Bentancur could be sold this summer, with Spurs thought to be hopeful that the player will put pen to paper on a new deal.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham have followed up on their failed efforts to sign Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze with a rejected £60m bid for another number 10 target.

It has been a disastrous window for Tottenham Hotspur when it comes to the number 10 position. First, Spurs failed in their pursuit of landing Gibbs-White despite triggering his release clause.

To make matters worse, James Maddison then picked up a shocking ACL injury in pre-season, leaving him on the treatment table for much of the 2025/26 season. Dejan Kulusevski is also expected to be out of action until 2026.

Tottenham finally looked to have turned a corner when they came inches from signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, only to have Arsenal hijack the deal at the last minute.

Now, Spurs have suffered yet another transfer setback, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham see £60m bid for Nico Paz rejected by Como

It was reported last week that Nico Paz has become Tottenham’s most achievable target in the number ten position. In fact, Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Spurs had a bid of €40m (£34.6m) rejected for Paz, but were expected to return with another.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Tottenham have done just that, sending a €70m (£60.7m) package to Como, only for the Serie A side to send it straight back.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Unfortunately for Thomas Frank and Spurs, Paz has no desire to move to N17. That’s because Real Madrid have a buyback clause on their former youngster, and they intend to trigger it in the future. Los Blancos were even willing to match Tottenham’s bid in the case that Paz did greenlight the move.

As things stand, Madrid have a €10m buyback clause that can be triggered in 2026, but the Spanish giants will compensate Como in the future.

Romano wrote: “Tottenham bid worth €70m package for Nico Páz has been turned down tonight. Páz wants to stay at Como with view on Real Madrid future + Real were gonna match any proposal in any case. Real have €10m buy-back clause in 2026 but will compensate Como in future.”

Who else have Spurs been linked to in the number 10 role?

As we approach the final week of the summer transfer window, Tottenham appear no closer in their search for a new number 10 to fill the void in Thomas Frank’s squad.

Multiple reports have claimed that Tottenham are upping their efforts to sign Maghnes Akliouche following the failed pursuit of Eze.

Description

AS Roma have turned their attention to a Tottenham Hotspur winger, who the Lilywhites are willing to sell, despite the player featured against both Burnley and Manchester City.

Thomas Frank has decided to start with a front three of Richarlison, Mohammed Kudus and Brennan Johnson in Tottenham’s first two Premier League fixtures.

In both matches, he has brought on Wilson Odobert, who has made a decent impact off the bench. The Frenchman missed a huge chunk of the 2024/25 campaign due to a hamstring injury and will be hoping to show Spurs fans what he can do this season.

According to Alasdair Gold, Thomas Frank has been impressed with Odobert so far, but a new report has now suggested that the winger could be on his way out of the club before the transfer window slams shut.

AS Roma eyeing late Wilson Odobert deal

According to the print edition of Corriere dello Sport, Roma had agreed a deal with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho, but the England international has not given his approval for the move.

This has forced the Serie A club to consider other options, and they have now turned their attention to the Tottenham winger.

The report suggests Roma believe that Odobert can improve their attack, and they have been informed by Spurs that the 20-year-old is available for €25m (£22m) this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The outlet claims that the Giallorossi could make a loan offer for the French Under-21 international with an option to buy, but it is not revealed if Tottenham would consider such an offer.

Tottenham are unlikely to consider selling Odobert

Thomas Frank has said that Tottenham’s aim is to compete in all four competitions, and for that, he needs a big squad to work with.

Even if the Lilywhites manage to bring a top-class winger through the door in the final week of the transfer window, it is unlikely that the club would consider cashing in on Odobert.

A new report has shed light on what Tottenham Hotspur think about their chances of landing Savinho amidst Manchester City’s reluctance to sell the winger.

There was an expectation among some that the negotiations between Man City and Tottenham for Savinho may speed up after the two sides meet in the Premier League, and there are now signs of that happening.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday morning that Spurs are willing to bid upwards of £60.6m for Savinho, who remains keen on a move to N17.

Romano backed Tottenham to ‘try until the end’ to land the Brazilian, but the reports coming out of the Etihad suggest that City are reluctant to let Savinho leave.

What Tottenham are thinking about Savinho deal

After already missing out on a couple of their high-profile targets this summer, Tottenham will be keen to get this deal over the line.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has now revealed that the deal will not be easy for Spurs to do, but insists that the Lilywhites believe that it is still possible.

Bailey told TBR Football: “I am told that Spurs are trying again for Savinho as they know the player wants to join them.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“We have less than two weeks left, so this is not easy to do, but they are going to keep trying for a few days. Spurs think it is possible! We need to keep an eye on Rodrygo if Savinho goes to Tottenham. City are keeping tabs on that.”

Why Tottenham need to break the bank for Savinho

So far this summer, Spurs have failed to offer their new head coach the backing he needs, having missed out on both Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.

Some sources have said that Thomas Frank is in love with Savinho and sees him as the perfect fit for his Tottenham set-up.

That is why Daniel Levy needs to do whatever it takes to get this deal over the line, even if it means paying over the odds for the 21-year-old.

Brennan Johnson reveals major differences between Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham - Spurs Web
Description

Brennan Johnson believes it is a huge achievement for Tottenham Hotspur to emerge with a clean sheet against Manchester City, and has given us some insight into the changes that Thomas Frank has implemented at Spurs.

Tottenham produced some impressive performances under Ange Postecoglou, especially in his first season in charge, but they struggled to keep clean sheets under the Australian.

That is why Spurs fans are delighted with the fact that the side has started the Premier League campaign with two successive clean sheets.

The visitors exhibited a level of defensive control that travelling sides seldom do at the Etihad, managing to keep their pponents at arm’s length for the majority of the encounter of Tottenham’s 2-0 win over City.

Brennan Johnson says Thomas Frank respects defending

However, it was certainly not a case of Spurs just defending deep with men behind the ball the whole game, with Tottenham not being afraid to press Man City high up the pitch.

Thomas Frank has spoken about wanting Tottenham to be balanced in all phases of play, and Johnson has revealed that the Dane stresses defensive solidity while also giving his players the freedom to take risks going forward.

When asked about the differences between Frank and Ange Postecoglou, the Wales international told TNT Sports: “Nothing massively. Two different coaches. Really enjoying it, and a lot of detail goes into the set-pieces, but at the same time, he gives us a lot of attacking freedom.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“So, we have a really good balance. He respects defending and wants us to be hard to beat. In the first few games, we have kept two clean sheets, and against Man City, it is not easy. I have played here a lot of times and conceded a lot of goals.”

Johnson claims Tottenham delivered a perfect performance against Man City

Tottenham fans would have expected the home side to pepper their goal with shots at some stage in the second half as they were looking to get themselves back into the game.

However, that phase never came, with the away side looking very comfortable and also continuing to pose a threat on the counter-attack.

Micah Richards says Thomas Frank made two 'masterstroke' decisions at Tottenham this week - Spurs Web
Description

Micah Richards was extremely complimentary of the performance that Tottenham Hotspur delivered at the Etihad Stadium, and he revealed what has impressed him about Thomas Frank at the start of his tenure at N17.

The new Tottenham boss did not walk into the easiest of environments, replacing a European trophy-winning manager, and it was reported that the Spurs players were angered by the decision to sack Ange Postecoglou.

However, in a very short time, Frank and his coaching staff have managed to win over the Tottenham squad and the supporters, with the Dane quickly putting his imprint on the side.

Frank has said that he wants Spurs to be balanced in all phases of play, and that is exactly what we have seen from the side in their first three matches of the season.

Micah Richards is impressed by Tottenham’s transformation under Thomas Frank

The Tottenham head coach has already shown his tactical versatility, with Spurs using different tactical set-ups against PSG, Burnley, and Man City.

Richards is mightily impressed by the versatility and street smarts that Tottenham are showing, with the pundit showering praise on Frank.

Reacting to Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Man City, Richards told BBC Sport: “I thought Spurs were absolutely excellent. The way the head coach has been able to adapt so early in his tenure – sometimes using a back four and sometimes a five.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Even bringing in Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur today. That was a masterstroke. Thomas Frank has brought a know-how of how to see games out. They fully deserved to win today.”

Tottenham have a huge opportunity to build momentum

The fact that Tottenham have kept two clean sheets in their first two games of the season will particularly delight Spurs fans, as this defence was run ragged regularly in the Premier League last season.

Spurs now have a winnable set of games coming up, with Bournemouth, West Ham, Brighton, Wolves and Leeds being their next five opponents.

The Lilywhites now have a huge opportunity to build momentum and confidence early in the Frank era, and could find themselves near the top of the table before they play Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal in November.

Joao Palhinha reveals number one factor behind his ‘happy’ Tottenham move - Spurs Web
Description

Joao Palhinha is over the moon with his decision to come to Tottenham Hotspur, and the midfielder has revealed the number one reason why he chose to move to N17.

While there has been a lot of attention on Mohammed Kudus and the way he has started at Tottenham, the Portuguese international has been just as impressive.

Against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, the 30-year-old showcased his positional awareness and tactical discipline, mopping up superbly in front of the defence.

Thomas Frank believes Palhinha was a real coup for Spurs, and the on-loan Bayern Munich man has now said something very interesting about the Tottenham head coach.

Joao Palhinha makes Thomas Frank admission after Tottenham move

The experienced midfielder has admitted that his conversation with Frank was one of the main reasons why he chose to come to Tottenham.

The former Fulham man confessed that he is delighted with the choice he made, describing Spurs as a ‘great club’.

After scoring his first goal for Tottenham in their 2-0 win over Man City, Palhinha was asked why he chose Spurs, and he told TNT Sports: “First of all, the coach [Thomas Frank] who pushed me to come here and showed me the project he has here at Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“It is such a great club, and I am really glad to be in the Premier League again. I am so happy, me and my family. Now I want to enjoy this top club and top atmosphere again.”

Palhinha makes Spurs a much more solid outfit

In his two seasons at Fulham, Palhinha was in a league of his own in terms of tackles, registering 109 more tackles than the player who was second in that stat.

That shows just what Tottenham have signed, and there are already signs that he could have a formidable partnership with Rodrigo Bentancur, with the pair complementing each other very well.
