Description

Tottenham Hotspur have not admitted defeat in their pursuit of Savinho just yet, despite Manchester City’s reluctance to sell the winger.

Over the last few days, it has been widely reported that Tottenham are now trying to tie up a deal for Savinho, just a year on from his move from Girona to Manchester City.

According to various sources, Savinho is keen on a move to Spurs, but a deal for the 21-year-old may not be straightforward for the Lilywhites, with reports indicating that Tottenham’s £43m offer has been turned down by Man City.

The Athletic even asserted on Tuesday that after turning down Spurs’ offer, Man City told Tottenham that Savinho is not for sale, and the Manchester club consider the matter to be closed.

Tottenham are expected to try again to land Savinho

The Daily Mail have now also confirmed that the opening offer from the North London club, worth £43m, has been sent back by Pep Guardiola’s side.

The report states that ‘preliminary talks’over the Brazilian have taken place between the two Premier League sides.

Interestingly, the outlet claims that Spurs have not abandoned their pursuit of the former Girona man and are now expected to make an improved offer.

The publication adds that it would take a bid of £60m to tempt City into selling the winger.

Man City have sent a hint that they are ready to sell Savinho

According to various sources, Man City are ready to make a move for Rodrygo after they cash in on Savinho.

Several journalists, including Fabrizio Romano, have reported in the last 24 hours that Man City are now seriously considering an offer for the Real Madrid star.

How to watch Tottenham vs PSG in UEFA Super Cup final showdown - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have the chance to make it two European trophies in the space of three months when they take on PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final. Here’s how to watch the clash between Tottenham and PSG.

Tottenham Hotspur’s focus has quickly shifted towards the UEFA Super Cup, following their heavy 4-0 defeat to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in their final pre-season outing under new manager Thomas Frank.

It is a tough baptism for the Dane, who will now take on treble winners Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup final, marking his first competitive match as Tottenham boss.

With silverware at stake, Spurs will be eager to make it two trophies in the space of three months, having lifted the Europa League back in May 2025.

When and where is the game?

The match will be played at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine, Italy, on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, with kick-off set for 8:00 PM (UK time).

How to watch Tottenham vs PSG in the UK

For viewers in the United Kingdom, Tottenham’s meeting with PSG will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.

Tottenham and PSG team news

James Maddison is expected to miss out on a huge chunk of the season after picking up an ACL injury during Spurs’ recent 1-1 draw against Newcastle United and would be unavailable for the clash against PSG.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon are both sidelined as they continue to recover from muscle and calf injuries, respectively, while Radu Dragusin remains unavailable following a cruciate ligament injury.

Dominic Solanke is a doubt, though Thomas Frank has hinted the striker could return in time for the Paris Saint-Germain clash. Bryan Gil is nursing a knee problem, and Dejan Kulusevski is out with a more serious knee injury.

PSG, meanwhile, have no injury concerns and a fully fit squad.

Spurs Web score prediction for PSG vs Tottenham

This is undoubtedly Thomas Frank’s toughest challenge since taking over at Tottenham. The 4-0 defeat to Bayern Munich could influence how the manager approaches Wednesday’s match.

For Spurs, the priority will be securing victory, regardless of how it comes, as fans would welcome any start to the Frank era that delivers a trophy.

As for PSG, their extended run to the Club World Cup final means they have had no pre-season preparations and limited planning time for this fixture.

While that could play into Tottenham’s hands, the injury situation and lack of a recognised number ten could make the task difficult.

Description

A Tottenham full-back, who has had ups and downs in his three years at the North London club, is set to be rewarded with a second new contract in a space of twelve months.

While there has been a lot of speculation on potential attackers arriving at Spurs over recent weeks, the Lilywhites are also reportedly looking to strengthen at the back.

It has been rumoured that Tottenham want to add another left-back to their squad, which makes sense considering the injury-prone Destiny Udogie and the experienced Ben Davies are his main options in the position.

One man who shone at left-back last season under Ange Postecoglou is Djed Spence, and he is now set to be rewarded with a new deal for his impressive displays.

Djed Spence set to sign new long-term Spurs deal

Spence signed a new four-year contract at Tottenham last October, with the former Middlesbrough man now set to sign another extension.

This information was first provided by The Beautiful Game podcast, who revealed that the full-back is in advanced talks over a new long-term deal that runs until 2029, with an option of a further one-year extension.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This information has also been confirmed by The Athletic, who report that Spurs are now close to finalising a new deal for the 25-year-old.

Negotiations have moved fast over the last month, with Tottenham keen to reward Spence for his strong showing in the second half of last season.

Could this be a transfer hint by Tottenham?

While Spence is expected to compete with Pedro Porro for the right-back spot, he showed last season that he is just as good at left-back, or arguably even better.

The speculation regarding Tottenham signing a left-back has died down over recent weeks, and we have seen Thomas Frank give major praise to Ben Davies.

That, allied with Spurs handing a new contract for Spence, may be a sign that signing a full-back is no longer considered a priority by the Dane.

Fabrizio Romano reveals who is leading Eberechi Eze transfer race, Tottenham or Arsenal - Spurs Web
Description

Fabrizio Romano has revealed who is currently ahead in the race for Eberechi Eze as both Tottenham and Arsenal continue to be linked.

Just a few days ago, a number of sources claimed that Arsenal are Eze’s most likely destination this summer, but the situation appears to have changed dramatically since then.

According to various reports, Tottenham have restarted conversations with Crystal Palace over a deal for Eze, who has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

A report in TEAMtalk revealed on Tuesday that Spurs now understand exactly what it will take to land Eze following their talks with the Eagles.

Tottenham have leapfrogged Arsenal in Eberechi Eze race

Fabrizio Romano has now explained that Arsenal have been in touch with the attacking midfielder’s representatives since the start of the summer.

However, they are now not advancing on the deal, while Spurs are working hard to get the transfer over the line following the injury to James Maddison.

Romano also reiterated that Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho is independent of their talks over Eze, with the Lilywhites wanting to sign both players.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I think in this moment, Tottenham are ahead, because Tottenham are prepared to go very strong for Eberechi Eze. Arsenal like the player, Arsenal have always been in touch with his representatives, already in June, but at the moment, I think they are not advancing in these negotiations.

“Tottenham are trying to make it happen as soon as possible after the injury to James Maddison and also Son leaving. For Tottenham, it’s important to bring in new players, and so from what I’m hearing, it’s a separate story from Savinho.

“Tottenham will try to get both, and for Eberechi Eze, there are contacts ongoing with his agents and also with Crystal Palace. So I think Tottenham, at the moment, are really pushing on this one. Let’s see if they can get it over the line.”

How much are Spurs willing to spend on Eze?

According to various sources, Eze’s release clause of £68m, including add-ons, is active until Friday, thus giving the two North London clubs a big opportunity.

It has been claimed by GiveMeSport that Tottenham reached out to Palace to understand the release clause in case they decide to trigger or match it.

The same update claimed that Thomas Frank’s men are prepared to do a deal worth around £60m for the England international.

New Tottenham Hotspur captain officially confirmed after Heung-min Son exit - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur fans finally know their official new captain after the departure of Heung-min Son to LAFC last week.

Tottenham Hotspur have since bid farewell to Heung-min Son, who had captained this Tottenham side since 2023, after he announced his departure in front of his hometown fans during Spurs’ pre-season tour of Asia.

Son’s legacy as a Tottenham legend has been sealed, as has his legacy as club captain, with the Korean ending the club’s 17-year wait for a major honour by winning the Europa League trophy last season.

The Korean forward has departed for LAFC after his decade-long stay at Hotspur Way and is now set to link up once more with former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris.

Cristian Romero named Tottenham captain for 2025/26 season

With Heung-min Son now gone, the captaincy at Tottenham has been left vacant, and manager Thomas Frank had already hinted that a new club captain would be named before the first competitive fixture of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur have now confirmed that, following the departure of former captain Heung-min Son, Cristian Romero will be taking the captain’s armband for the 2025/26 season.

Romero is no stranger to leadership, having been the club’s previous vice-captain, often filling in for Son whenever the South Korean was not in the starting eleven.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Thomas Frank said the following on naming Romero as captain (Tottenham official): “I had a good conversation with Cuti Romero, and he’s going to be our captain.

“He was very honoured and very happy about it. It’s a big thing and should be to lead this wonderful club out on the pitch, not just for this Super Cup, but also throughout the season.

“I think he has all the right qualities. He leads from his behaviour on the pitch, driving the team forward in every way, and outside the pitch he’s always pushing the team.

“I want a leadership group as well. Of course, one will wear the armband and be the captain, but I would like to have as many leaders as possible, four to five in the leadership group who can help, because it’s the same with me, I can’t do everything on my own and need a superb coaching staff around me. I will name that leadership group after the window to give me time to assess everything.”

What Romero brings to Spurs as captain

Cristian Romero is a World Cup winner, a Copa America winner and a Europa League winner, which speaks volumes about his winning mindset.

With the captaincy now handed to Romero, it should put to bed any speculation regarding his future at Tottenham, particularly as Atletico Madrid were once keen on securing his signature.

The 27-year-old will now be gearing up to lead Tottenham in their first competitive clash against Paris Saint-Germain, where he will have the opportunity to lift silverware in his first outing as captain.

Tottenham may hold one key advantage over Arsenal in Eberechi Eze transfer race - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur may have one ace up their sleeve in their attempts to beat their North London rivals to the signing of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

It emerged on Tuesday that Spurs are pushing forward with talks for Eze while the Arsenal are hesitating to substantiate their interest in the 27-year-old.

However, according to various sources, Arsenal are still very much active in their pursuit of Eze, who has previously signalled a willingness to move to the Emirates.

Some may assume that the attacking midfielder might choose Mikel Arteta’s side if he had the option between the two North London clubs, but Tottenham may have one advantage over their rivals.

Eberechi Eze is very close to Spurs first-team coach

Tottenham insider, Paul O Keefe, has revealed that Spurs assistant coach Justin Cochrane has a close relationship with the Crystal Palace star.

Cochrane is also part of England’s coaching set-up, and the pair would have worked together several times over recent years as Eze has been a regular in recent Three Lions squads.

O’Keefe suggested that the former Brentford assistant coach, who followed Thomas Frank to Spurs this summer, may be in the attacking midfielder’s ear over a move to N17.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham may have another advantage over Arsenal in Eze race

Spurs fans would be hoping that Cochrane can convince the Eagles star to greenlight a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and there may also be one other factor working in Lilywhites’ favour.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk that Arsenal have doubts about spending big on another number ten, and one can understand why, given the options that Arteta has at his disposal.

Eze may not be guaranteed to start every game at the Emirates Stadium, while he will be the main man at Spurs, which could factor into his decision in the lead-up to a World Cup year.

Tottenham are being ‘very greedy’ as French club set sights on Ange Postecoglou signing

Tottenham are being ‘very greedy’ as French club set sights on Ange Postecoglou signing - Spurs Web
Description

A Tottenham Hotspur bench player is open to moving to Lille, but the Premier League club’s demands are making the transfer very difficult for the Ligue 1 side.

While there has been a lot of speculation regarding Tottenham’s backline, midfield and forward line after Thomas Frank arrived through the door, it appears that the Dane is happy with the goalkeeping options at his disposal for now.

The Lilywhites are seemingly not in the market for a shot-stopper, with Spurs set to enter the season with Guglielmo Vicario as their number one and January signing, Antonin Kinsky, as his understudy.

Some have speculated about whether Kinsky might displace Vicario as Tottenham’s number one, given that Frank’s system relies on the goalkeeper to often beat the opposition’s first line of press with balls over the top to the full-back or midfielders.

Tottenham keeper Antonin Kinsky is wanted by Lille

L’Equipe have now claimed that the Czech goalkeeper is of interest to Lille, who are looking for a new number one.

Their current goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier, is about to join Paris Saint-Germain, and they have identified Kinsky as a potential replacement.

Lille have made a loan approach for the Tottenham Hotspur man, and it is asserted that the 22-year-old is interested in a temporary switch to Stade Pierre Mauroy.

MORE SPURS STORIES

However, the outlet claims that Spurs are being ‘very greedy’ in their demands, which is forcing Lille to look at other options, including Marseille’s Jeffrey De Lange, and Ricardo Velho, who plays for Portuguese tier 2 club Farense.

Tottenham cannot afford to let Kinsky leave

One can understand why Kinsky is in favour of a loan move as the youngster needs game time in order to develop into a finished product.

However, if Tottenham let the 22-year-old go at this stage of the transfer window, it would leave the club with very little time to secure a replacement.

Given that Spurs are also in need of reinforcements across many other areas of the pitch, they may not be too keen on the idea of loaning out Kinsky.

A new report has shed light on how much Tottenham Hotspur are willing to spend on Eberechi Eze and whether the North London club are prepared to activate the midfielder’s release clause, which expires in a few days.

Since it first emerged this morning that Tottenham had reopened talks with Crystal Palace over a deal for Eze, the transfer story has dominated the headlines.

Spurs fans are understandably very excited about the prospect of Eze’s arrival, but the Lilywhites still have work to do to get the deal over the line.

A few hours ago, journalist Alex Crook revealed that Eze’s £68m release clause is active until Friday, and now, a new update has shed light on what Spurs are willing to do to clinch a deal for the 27-year-old.

Tottenham’s stance on Eberechi Eze transfer fee and release clause

GiveMeSport have now also confirmed that the England international’s £68m clause will expire on the eve of the new Premier League season.

The outlet claims that Tottenham reached out to Palace to understand the release clause in case they decide to trigger or match it.

The report adds that the North London club are prepared to do a deal worth around £60m for Eze, who has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

It is explained that it is Thomas Frank who is driving Spurs’ pursuit of the Eagles star, with the Dane said to be a big admirer of the versatile attacker.

Gareth Bale set for Champions League involvement ahead of Tottenham’s return to the competition

Gareth Bale set for Champions League involvement ahead of Tottenham's return to the competition - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur will make their long-awaited return to the Champions League this season, and fans will once again be treated to the sight of Gareth Bale.

The Welshman announced himself on the world stage when he scored a stunning hat-trick against Inter Milan at the San Siro in 2010, despite losing the match 4-3.

Despite a tough 2024/25 Premier League campaign in which they finished in seventeenth place, Ange Postecoglou guided Tottenham to Europa League glory in the final against Manchester United in Bilbao.

The winner of the Europa League secures qualification to the Champions League, which will now see Thomas Frank looking to compete on multiple fronts for Tottenham this season.

Gareth Bale confirmed for punditry duty with TNT Sports

Bale will be back on the television screen for the 2025/26 season not only in the Champions League, but also the Premier League to act as one of the broadcaster’s punditry panel.

The 36-year-old is said to have impressed during his appearance on TNT Sports for the Europa League final and will help to fill the void left by Rio Ferdinand after the former defender decided against signing a new deal.

Bale will appear on TNT Sports’ Premier League on Saturday lunchtimes, which could see him called up for duty for Tottenham’s trip to Manchester City on August 23rd.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It has not been confirmed as of yet whether Bale will be part of the panel for Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup final against PSG on Wednesday evening.

Bale’s Tottenham wish after trophy win is yet to happen

Speaking after the Europa League final, Gareth Bale called on Tottenham to keep investing in the playing squad ahead of the new season.

With James Maddison having suffered an ACL injury, Tottenham are desperately short of a creative influence in midfield and also missed out on a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White who remained at Nottingham Forest.

Despite it having been in pre-season, Tottenham’s 4-0 defeat at Bayern Munich last week was yet another stark reminder of the gulf between the top European clubs in Spurs at this moment in time.

If Daniel Levy expects Thomas Frank to be able to compete adequately in the Premier League and Champions League this season, he must be backed in the current transfer window and the clock is ticking.

Thomas Frank has already told Tottenham how many new signings he wants

Thomas Frank has already told Tottenham how many new signings he wants - Spurs Web
Description

Thomas Frank is said to have made it clear to Daniel Levy how many Tottenham signings he wanted before accepting the job, and it’s far fewer than you might think.

When Thomas Frank swapped Brentford for Tottenham Hotspur following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, many assumed he was walking into a fractured dressing room. Most of the squad had been firmly in Postecoglou’s corner, and the mood looked like a potential hurdle.

However, pre-season performances have hinted at a smooth transition, with the Dane quickly winning over the group. It helps that Frank inherited a side fresh off a Europa League triumph, as Postecoglou himself once noted, this is now a squad that knows how to win.

From his Brentford days, Frank built a reputation as a shrewd squad-builder and exceptional man-manager. He guided the Bees from the Championship to the Premier League, turning many of his former players into stars.

Bryan Mbeumo, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins and David Raya are a few examples of players who thrived under him in the Championship, and they all later went on to earn the club huge profits and themselves big moves.

It’s worth mentioning that he achieved all this on a shoestring budget. At Tottenham, armed with a far bigger budget, a stronger pull in the market and Champions League football to offer, the ceiling for what he can achieve is far higher.

Thomas Frank only wanted three to four Tottenham signings

According to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Frank told Daniel Levy before taking the job that he wanted just three or four additions to the squad. The 51-year-old identified a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and another forward as the priority positions.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bailey explained to TBR Football that Frank’s message to Levy was essentially: “Give me two, three, maybe four players, and we can really challenge.” He wasn’t after a complete squad overhaul, just targeted reinforcements in key areas.

A genuine holding midfielder was top of the list, while a creative number 10 was also on the agenda even before James Maddison’s injury. Another forward option remains desirable, although not a priority at the moment.

So far, Spurs have sealed permanent deals for Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso, alongside new arrivals Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Kota Takai. With just 21 days left in the window, there’s still work to be done to complete Frank’s wishlist.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that those three or four signings aren’t already completed, but with rumours over a Spurs move for Savinho, it would appear that Daniel Levy and co are still active in the transfer market.

Who else could Tottenham sign before deadline day?

The arrival of Joao Palhinha ticks off the defensive midfield requirement, but Frank still needs at least one attacking midfielder. Maddison’s injury and Morgan Gibbs-White’s last-minute snub have left Spurs short of creativity in the middle of the pitch.

Talks are already underway with Manchester City over Savinho, with a deal potentially costing around £50 to £60 million. If that falls through, Harvey Elliott and James McAtee are seen as alternatives, though Spurs are believed to be pushing hard for Savinho.

Up front, any departure for Richarlison will force Tottenham into the market for a striker. Will Lankshear has left on loan, and Tel isn’t yet ready to lead the line in England.

Nicolas Jackson has been linked, while Real Madrid’s Rodrygo was considered but priced out of reach at £100 million. With Manchester City ready to swoop, he would almost certainly choose Pep Guardiola’s side over Spurs.

With the clock ticking down to the September 1 deadline, Tottenham cannot afford to leave it too late. If Frank is to get the players he asked for, the next week will be very crucial.
