Description

Thomas Frank has named his starting eleven to take on Bayern Munich as Tottenham Hotspur begin a new era without club captain Heung-min Son.

Tottenham Hotspur are now set for their final pre-season fixture ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season, which kicks off for Thomas Frank’s side on Wednesday, August 13, with a tie against PSG.

A clash against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena sees Tottenham take on the side of former striker Harry Kane for only the second time since his departure two summers ago.

Tottenham arrive in Germany off the back of a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in South Korea and Frank will be hoping to sharpen his side’s rhythm ahead of his first competitive game in the UEFA Super Cup next week.

What is the Tottenham team vs Bayern Munich?

Today’s fixture marks the first match of the post-Heung-min Son era, after Tottenham announced Son’s departure to LAFC on Wednesday.

Thomas Frank has revealed that a replacement for Son could come from within the current Spurs squad.

The manager has now named his official line-up to take on Bayern Munich in the Telkom Cup this evening, as he looks to end his pre-season schedule on a positive note.

MORE SPURS STORIES

This is the Tottenham team which faces Bayern Munich:

Tottenham Hotspur: Guglielmo Vicario; Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero (C), Micky Van de Ven, Djed Spence; Joao Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur; Mohammed Kudus, Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan Johnson; Richarlison.

Subs: Kinsky, Austin, Davies, Danso, Vuskovic, Gray, Bissouma, Bergvall, Odobert, Tel.

Harry Kane starts up front for Bayern, with Neuer, Upamecano, Tah, Kimmich, Goretzka, Coman, Diaz, Olise, Laimer, and Stanisic also starting.

Who do Tottenham play next?

Following this tie at the Allianz Arena, Tottenham Hotspur will swiftly shift focus to their UEFA Super Cup preparations, where they face Paris Saint-Germain in Udine, Italy, on Wednesday.

That match comes just three days before the start of the new domestic season, with Tottenham set to welcome Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in their Premier League opener.

Thomas Frank will be targeting a winning start to competitive life in charge, and with Spurs crowned Europa League champions against Manchester United just three months ago, they now stand on the brink of lifting a second European trophy in one summer.

Description

After confirmation that James Maddison has suffered an ACL injury, Radu Dragusin has sent a touching message to the Tottenham attacking midfielder on social media.

The former Leicester man was in tears when he was stretchered off against Newcastle on Sunday, and it was evident from his reaction that this was no small injury.

His worst fears have been confirmed today when it emerged that Maddison will miss the majority of the 2025-26 season as he will need to undergo surgery on a ruptured ACL.

It comes as a devastating blow for the 28-year-old, who has only recently worked his way back from a knee injury, and the fact that it comes ahead of a World Cup year will be a hard pill for the Tottenham Hotspur star to swallow.

Radu Dragusin vows to support James Maddison through his Tottenham recovery

One man who knows what it takes, both physically and psychologically, to work his way back from an ACL injury is Dragusin.

The Romanian suffered an ACL tear due to an innocuous incident during Tottenham’s 3-0 win against Elfsborg back in January, appearing to land badly after going up for an aerial challenge.

The centre-back has now taken to Instagram stories to reveal that he will be with Maddison to support him through his recovery, just like the former Leicester man did during his ordeal over the last few months.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 23-year-old wrote: “Every step of the way with you, brother, just like you were with me.”

Dragusin is ahead of schedule in his recovery

The centre-back worked very hard once he suffered the injury blow, with Dragusin being spotted in the Hotspur Way gym two weeks after his surgery.

He was initially expected to be out for the entire calendar year, but reports now indicate that Dragusin is considerably ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Daniel Levy breaks silence on Tottenham fan protests, ‘It hurts – their pain is my pain’ - Spurs Web
Description

Daniel Levy has now spoken publicly about the protests against him for the first time, with the Tottenham chairman admitting that he is hurt by the sentiments that some Spurs supporters have expressed against him.

There were multiple major protests by Spurs fans last season, with supporters marching in the thousands to raise their voice against Levy and the Tottenham ownership.

Their demand was for the current owners to leave the club, as they felt that they had not shown the required ambition to make Tottenham Hotspur successful.

The sentiment against the owners did not change even after Tottenham’s European success in May, with Levy being booed even when the Europa League trophy was paraded at the stadium.

Daniel Levy says he also finds Tottenham defeats just as painful

The Spurs chairman is often seen having a poker face when the camera pans him and does not tend to give too much away.

However, the 63-year-old has now admitted for the first time that he is hurt by the protests against him, insisting that he also feels the pain of the supporters when results are not positive.

When asked if the protests against him hurt, Levy said on The Overlap: “Of course it hurts. But their pain is also my pain. I want to win, and when we are not playing well and not winning, believe me, I suffer as well.”

Levy’s interview is unlikely to have won over many

Daniel Levy deserves some credit for giving a long-form interview and for directly addressing the criticisms levelled at him by Tottenham fans.

While he came across as honest and direct, it is fair to say that the Spurs chairman does not have a particularly engaging personality, appearing a little cold and distant at times.

That is perhaps why he refrains from making too many public appearances. In reality, what he said is not going to change the minds of Levy’s harshest critics, who have already made up their minds about him and ENIC.

Tottenham have £35m offer rejected for £60m midfielder, but club deny reports - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly had an opening offer turned down for an Argentina international; however, the club deny that any bid has been made.

It has been widely reported over recent days that Spurs are prioritising signing a number ten after James Maddison’s injury blow.

It turns out that the North Londoners have now turned their attention to an attacking midfielder who was on their radar earlier this year.

Back in March, it emerged that Tottenham’s scouts had been very impressed with Como starlet Nico Paz, and according to a new update, they have now pressed ahead with a move for the Argentine.

Tottenham have had an offer turned down by Como for Nico Paz

Paz had a superb debut season in Serie A following his switch from Real Madrid last summer, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 35 outings last term.

Gianluca Di Marzio has now claimed that following the injury to Maddison, Tottenham Hotspur sprang into life and made a bid for the 20-year-old.

However, Spurs’ offer, which was worth €40m (£34.7m), was sent back by Como, who value Paz at €70m (£60.7m).

MORE SPURS STORIES

Di Marzio adds that the Serie A club have informed the Premier League side that unless they are ready to offer €60m (£52.1m), they would not even begin negotiations for the youngster.

Real Madrid have a buy-back option for Paz

Another issue for the Lilywhites is that Real Madrid added a buy-back clause when they sold the Argentine to Como last summer.

While Di Marzio does not indicate whether the Los Blancos are looking to activate the clause this summer, he adds that the La Liga giants would also be owed half the fee that Como receive for Paz should the Italian club sell the player to another club.

It was previously reported by TBR Football that Paz has his heart set on returning to the Santiago Bernabeu in the future, and is thus prepared to stay at Como for another year.

However, the information provided by Di Marzio has been rubbished by PA Sport journalist George Sessions and others, who asserted that Spurs deny they have launched an offer for Paz.

Five attacking midfielders Tottenham could look to sign after James Maddison’s injury blow - Spurs Web
Description

After Tottenham Hotspur received the worst possible injury news on James Maddison, we take a look at five exciting attacking midfielders who can fill the Maddison-shaped hole in the Spurs squad.

It has been confirmed that James Maddison has suffered an ACL injury and is expected to miss the majority of Tottenham’s 2025-26 season.

The news comes as a major blow for Thomas Frank, and according to reports, signing an attacking midfielder has now become a priority for Tottenham after the development.

Given that Dejan Kulusevski is also currently sidelined, there is no doubt that the position has become an urgent one for Spurs to address. Here are five players that the Lilywhites can turn to:

Tottenham could look at Jack Grealish on loan

Reports indicate that Tottenham launched an enquiry for Jack Grealish immediately after Maddison’s injury, and it is not hard to understand why.

The three-time Premier League winner has been on the North London club’s radar for a while. In fact, it has been revealed that Spurs held extensive talks with Grealish’s representatives about a move in January.

A deal for the 29-year-old will be straightforward to complete, as he is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans, and it has been reported that Grealish is open to a move to Tottenham this summer.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Additionally, some sources have also claimed that Man City are open to loaning out Grealish. A loan move would work perfectly for the Lilywhites, as it would entail very little risk and give Frank an experienced option until James Maddison recovers from his injury.

Bilal El Khannouss could be a low-budget option

According to reports, Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss is another player Tottenham are tracking following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League.

However, the North Londoners are not expected to have a free run at the Moroccan international, who is also on the radars of Sunderland, Leeds United, West Ham United and Newcastle.

Not all Spurs fans are convinced El Khannouss would be a good signing for Tottenham, as his returns at Leicester were quite modest last season, with just three goals in 36 appearances.

However, the 21-year-old can shine when surrounded by better players at N17, and we know that Thomas Frank has a track record of getting the best of young attackers.

The Dane might thus fancy his chances of moulding the Leicester man into a finished product, as the youngster’s ability is unquestionable.

Harvey Elliott has been linked with Tottenham

A number of outlets have claimed that Harvey Elliott is one of the alternatives Tottenham have identified to Morgan Gibbs-White.

While the Liverpool man clearly has a high ceiling, his signing may not be very popular among Spurs fans, given the way Elliott has behaved against Tottenham in the past.

It has been alleged that the England Under-21 international is rated highly by Thomas Frank, and his versatility would offer the Dane a lot of options.

However, the 22-year-old will not come cheap, with reports indicating that Liverpool want over £50m for Elliott.

James McAtee looks set for a Manchester City exit

Elliott’s England Under-21 teammate, James McAtee, is another player Tottenham have reportedly spoken to this summer.

However, he is perhaps the most unlikely signing from this list, with Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe already ruling out a summer move for McAtee.

That is partly because of Manchester City’s reluctance to sell their academy graduate, with journalist Ben Jacobs revealing recently that Guardiola would prefer to keep McAtee at the club.

Jacobs said that it would take a figure closer to the £42.5m package City received when Cole Palmer left for Chelsea to convince them to part ways with the 22-year-old.

Whether it is worth spending big on a player with a modest CV in the Premier League like McAtee, is something that Spurs may have to think long and hard about.

Tottenham would have to fight Arsenal for Eberechi Eze

If Tottenham want to turn to an option who is close to a guarantee to succeed, and if money were not an issue, Eberechi Eze would be the obvious candidate.

Earlier this summer, Tottenham had emerged as the favourites to land Eze, but the situation has changed drastically since then.

Arsenal have since made serious overtures towards Eze, and perhaps more consequentially, the Lilywhites do not have a long time to act.

This is because the England international’s £68m release clause expires on August 15, according to The Standard, which means that if Spurs do not manage to do a deal within the next week, they will have to enter into negotiations with Crystal Palace.

That is not to say that a deal would not be impossible after August 15, as Eze only has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park, which means that Palace may be tempted by a big offer.

However, as they have shown with Marc Guehi, the Eagles do not succumb to pressure and are happy to bide their time to give themselves the best chance of retaining their best assets, even if it means allowing them to run into the final year of their contract.

Tottenham post funny message about famous Saido Berahino transfer saga

Tottenham post funny message about famous Saido Berahino transfer saga - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have posted a funny message about missing out on Saido Berahino back in 2015, before signing Heung-min Son that summer.

Son’s arrival at Spurs ten years ago was met with some scepticism, with the forward being a relative unknown to Premier League fans at the time.

He arrived with a tidy record in the Bundesliga, but not even the most optimistic Tottenham fan, or perhaps even Son himself, would have expected at the time what the South Korean would go on to achieve.

Ten years on, the 33-year-old leaves the club as their record appearance maker in the Premier League, their fifth highest goalscorer in Tottenham’s history, and the player with the most assists ever for Spurs, a golden boot winner and a Europa League-winning captain.

Tottenham poke fun at missing out on Saido Berahino

However, it could all have been very different in an alternative universe, as Tottenham only turned their attention to Heung-min Son after missing out on Berahino.

During his time at West Brom, the English forward was rated as one of the best young players in the Premier League and Tottenham fans were dreaming of him linking up with his then England Under-21 teammate, Harry Kane, at White Hart Lane.

When Tottenham’s move for Berahino fell through, the supporters were very disappointed, and many were sceptical when the Lilywhites turned to Son. The rest, as they say, is history.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Spurs have now decided to poke fun at the Berahino saga after Son left the club as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest legends.

There is a big lesson in the Berahino-Son saga for Spurs fans

Berahino has failed to fulfil his potential and has had a disappointing career, with the 32-year-old currently playing his football at Tabor Sezana in Slovenia.

The different career trajectories of Berahino and Son is yet another example to Tottenham fans not to jump to conclusions on signings, as it is very hard to predict whether a player will succeed or fail.

When Spurs decided to sign Micky van de Ven over Edmond Tapsoba two years ago, there was similar discontent among the fan base, many of whom accused the club of going for the cheaper option.

However, it is fair to say that not many Spurs fans would swap the Dutchman for the Bayer Leverkusen star now.

Tottenham receive loan interest from Eredivisie and Championship for £6m starlet - Spurs Web
Description

One Tottenham Hotspur youngster is now attracting interest from a host of clubs in England and in Europe ahead of the 25/26 season.

Before Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Asia, it was revealed that the club left a few of their young talents behind to work out loan moves for themselves.

Amongst those young players was Alfie Devine, who has featured for Tottenham in pre-season, playing against Reading and Luton Town.

Devine has attracted interest from a club in England since Tottenham departed for Asia, with Championship side Millwall eyeing a permanent transfer.

It was reported earlier this summer that Tottenham would accept a fee of around £6m to sell Devine permanently this summer.

Millwall eye Alfie Devine despite Tottenham loan plan

It is understood that while Millwall are looking to land Devine permanently, the youngster is reported to be one of five players Tottenham are looking to loan this summer.

Football.London has now revealed that Alfie Devine is not short of interest in this transfer window. It is believed that the 20-year-old has attracted interest from a host of different teams, especially from sides in the Eredivisie and the Championship.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Devine spent last season out on loan with Belgian side Westerlo, where he impressed, scored six goals and assisted one.

Tottenham may need to act quickly over Devine’s future

There is no mention of the sides showing keen interest in Devine, but given how swiftly some of the club’s other youngsters have secured loans this summer, Devine may pretty much be closing in on a deal.

Tottenham are also looking to add more depth to their squad, with recent reports suggesting that an attacking midfielder and another centre-back are the two positions on the radar of the Lilywhites.

Several players have been linked with Tottenham in the past few weeks, with Rafael Leao, Rodrygo and Ronald Araujo, just to name a few.

Tottenham receive worst possible news on James Maddison injury, timeline revealed - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have now received confirmation on just how bad James Maddison’s injury is, and it is terrible news for the club and for the attacking midfielder.

What was supposed to be a day to celebrate Heung-min Son’s Tottenham career in the forward’s final game for the Lilywhites turned out to be a nightmare day for his teammate.

James Maddison was in tears as he was stretchered off in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle in Seoul, and it was immediately clear that it was a bad injury.

After the game, Thomas Frank described the injury as ‘brutal’, and the Tottenham head coach has now received the worst possible news about the 28-year-old.

James Maddison will miss majority of Tottenham’s season

According to BBC Sport, scans have revealed that the attacking midfielder has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The report confirms that the injury is expected to see Maddison miss the majority of the 2025-26 campaign, with the 28-year-old facing a long road back.

It is explained that there were fears as soon as the injury happened that the former Leicester man had snapped his ACL, and those fears have now been realised.

MORE SPURS STORIES

It comes as a brutal blow for the midfielder ahead of what is a World Cup year, and it is the latest in a long line of injuries he has suffered since his switch to North London two years ago.

Following the updates in the media, the news was also confirmed by the club, who revealed that Maddison will now have surgery on his ACL.

Tottenham are expected to spring into action in the transfer market

It has been widely reported over recent days that signing a number 10 has become a priority for Tottenham after Maddison’s injury.

Some sources have even claimed that Spurs submitted ‘an immediate enquiry’ for Jack Grealish following the Maddison setback.

Tottenham reveal second Championship loan for Yang Min-hyeok after Heung-min Son advice - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham have sanctioned a second loan spell for South Korean starlet Yang Min-hyeok, with the youngster set for another stint in the Championship just months after arriving in North London.

It was revealed a few days back that Tottenham Hotspur were working on a few loan deals for some of their youngsters who made a trip to South Korea for their pre-season tour.

Spurs have now returned from Asia and will be turning their attention to their friendly tie against Bayern Munich before their first competitive game in the UEFA Super Cup.

It has been revealed that one of the youngsters who joined Tottenham during the winter window last season is close to securing a loan move for the second time in his Spurs career.

Tottenham agree Portsmouth loan for Yang Min-Hyeok

This report comes from Chris Wise of BBC Sport, who reports that Tottenham have agreed on a loan deal with Portsmouth for Korean youngster Yang.

It is understood that a return to the Championship with Portsmouth should be completed in the next 24 hours for the winger, who is also capable of playing down the middle.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The 19-year-old teenager only joined Tottenham last season in January from K League side Gangwon FC, and was loaned a few days later to second division side QPR.

The teenager managed two goals and an assist in 14 Championship games in what was his first spell in English football.

Heung-min Son recently gave Yang some parting words of advice before swapping Tottenham for LAFC. He said: “I’m very proud to see Yang fight for a position in the squad. As for tips, I’d like to see Yang experience things on the field and not think too much or too hard. Just focus on what’s in front of him.”

Spurs continue to send youngsters out on loan

Yang Min-Hyeok would now join several other Tottenham youngsters out on loan, including Mikey Moore, who has joined Scottish side Rangers.

Ashley Phillips also secured another loan to the Championship, once again joining Stoke City. Meanwhile, Devine and Lankshear have also been loaned out, while Luka Vuskovic continues to attract interest from several sides across Europe.

A move to the Championship is sure to benefit Yang, who is still getting used to the demands of English football after joining just six months ago.

Tottenham handed Dominic Solanke boost ahead of Bayern Munich clash - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have received a timely boost as Dominic Solanke nears a return ahead of the Bayern Munich friendly.

Tottenham Hotspur have not been injury-free so far in their pre-season preparations. Destiny Udogie has been sidelined and even missed out on Tottenham’s tour of Asia.

Dejan Kulusevski has been working his way back to full fitness but is expected to miss the opening games of the new season, with expectations that he will be back sometime during the spring.

James Maddison looked to have been building up his match fitness with limited minutes against Arsenal and Newcastle; however, Maddison suffered another brutal knock against the Magpies, reinjuring his knee.

Dominic Solanke expected to be available for Tottenham vs Bayern Munich

Tottenham have now been handed a major boost on the injury front, as the Standard is now reporting that striker Dominic Solanke is expected to be available for selection for Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich.

Tottenham are set to take on the German champions today, August 7, at the Allianz Arena in what will be their final friendly game before they play their first competitive match under new boss Thomas Frank in the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain.

Solanke picked up an ankle injury in Tottenham’s friendly clash against Reading in July and has not appeared since, but it is hoped he can return to the fold as the Lilywhites visit Bavaria to face Bayern Munich.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Even with Solanke’s potential return to fitness, Tottenham remain short in the attacking area of their team ahead of their big final in the Super Cup.

James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are both sidelined, leaving Tottenham without a recognised attacking midfielder in their team heading into the new season.
